New devlog !!!

I finished the prototype and you can play it :)

(it is bad though, but that's the point ! i can see what works and what doesn't)

Here's what new down below :o

So first, i'm sorry for the lack of devlogs, I actually finished the prototype a month and a half ago, but I needed to tweak some stuff before releasing it. And uh college stuff and I had to study. But I have a break right now so here we are :)

I wanted to lock in to finish the prototype, it is quite rushed but it helps to fail faster. That's why I removed a bunch of animation and simplified some stuff so i could work more on the gameplay loop (and now it's your problem >:) ).

And so, here are some notable changes : (also some gif are from old builds of the game, so stuff are a bit different on the public prototype)

Fusing comets ! Replaces having multiple comets at the same time (Having multiples comets should be an upgrade, but heh too lazy to code it)

There's three type of upgrade right now :

D -> Defense (bunch of extra health)

A -> Attack (extra health + extra damage)

S -> Speed (extra health + extra speed)

The little number under the letter is its health. So when you hit a fish with the comet, only the first upgrade will be hurt.

You can have up to three upgrades at once.

Catch multiple fishes

Catching multiples fishes at the same time grants you a bigger and stronger comet ! Isn't that cool ? But now if you do bad at the minigame, it will end (you can see the fish health at the right, and yours at the left).

Also fishes stay stunned for a limited time now, so you can't catch all of them at the same time

The Shop

I will not speak about how it looks

But anyway, take a comet, throw it in the sell box, and take an item like a comet and throw it in the buy box ! easy

And if you want money outside of selling, there's some gold fishes swimming around that you can KILL for money <3

Mini bosses

You see these little red orbs ? Destroy all the fishes around it and it will be unlock.

Attack it again, and !!! A miniboss !!!

Catch them all and you'll finish the level

Now that the prototype is done, here are my thougths on it

I think it's a bit too hard and not that much intuitive, it also doesn't feel that much like a fishing game :/

The fishing minigame is also kinda boring, but that's because I didn't bother coding something smart. Though I think I can make it better in an other way.

I'm not a big fan of the gameplay loop, having to fight some minibosses could be cool but the way I did it doesn't really work

And finally comets can get annoying ! At the end you have too much of them and that's a waste of performance + no one will go get the comets they left behind, so I do need to work on it.

So I'll make another prototype (but I'll remove the boss at the end, it isn't worth it for a prototype, but for a demo sure! )

And for the youtube video version of these devlogs, I learning to write music to not rely on copyrighted content but it takes time :(

Anyway I hope you'll still have fun playing it though (three out of four people that tried the game liked it, that's neat)

Next devlog will be about another game, I want to try out some other games idea. I hope to be able to release it in a month or less, depends how I'm feeling (im sick of coding, drawing is easier and I can't even do that because it goes against the idea of prototyping argh !!!)

🎀 Life update split into little paragraphs (10) to make it easier to read 🎀

I am doing really well, barely eaten over the past week, yesterday I had to eat normally to pretend to my mum that I’m fine and I purged a lot thankfully (I’m getting pretty good at it now) and today I had low cal fibre bars to push down anything that’s left over.

Then I had a chew and spit binge, because I need to pretend I actually ate stuff so yeah I had to do some cooking but I’m actually still doing good because other than the low cal fibre bars I haven’t actually eaten anything else.

I have the rest of today then 3 more days to fast and maybe chew and spit some more but I also have a lot of studying I need to do because I have a deadline on Monday then another on Wednesday. Man, this whole ed thing makes you have to plan things and I’m so disorganised and I’m super bad for procrastinating.

The one bad thing is I picked my skin pretty badly yesterday so it’s all red and blotchy and bad but it’s ok I can deal with it, I will buy a face mask later.

Right now I’m gonna clean the entire house (get my steps up) then go get my face mask, then come back and do some work. My grandparents are also supposed to be dropping food here but I have no idea when, I also need to work out what I’m gonna do with it. Tomorrow I’ll get up at 4am to study because I find that works well. I need to stop having so much black tea and coffee because it’s making my teeth yellow too.

Sorry that’s a lot of updates in one go but I’ve been drowning in brain fog recently, for obvious reasons.

Feelings:

I can feel and see my ribs and hip bones and my shoulders are bony and my legs look thinner and I weigh the same as I did at like 14 before puberty so I’m pretty happy about it.

I hAte that I had to eat yesterday but it’s a small sacrifice if I consider that if I was found out I’d be forced into recovery. I’m annoyed at myself for eating four 78 kcal birthday cake fibre bars today but that’s 312 kcals that will go straight through me and later I will do 6000 steps which is 300 kcals to make up for it and an extra workout later this evening. Also since I won’t eat for the next three days the fibre will be necessary, especially to get rid of yesterday’s leftovers (bread hurts to purge ok) I mean that’s not much considering extreme hunger, it could have been a lot worse (it almost was hence the zero kcal chew and spit ‘binge’), besides it’s probably good to have a metabolism day to speed up the weight loss :)

I’m proud of myself because I normally binge when I’m with my mum but I turned down some of her suggestions (like getting fries) and I didn’t overeat (by a normal person standard) and while it hurt my stomach so bad because it’s probably smaller by now, it meant I wasn’t suspected and I’m ok now to ⭐️ve for 3 days. Though I do wish I had lied and said I already ate lunch, I didn’t think of lying at the time but it’s ok I’ll remember next time.

Hey this is SO IMCREDIBLY OFF TOPIC and I KNOW this is a fandom post about Grians fishing addiction and its FUNNY, IT REALLY IS

I have ADHD and this post just made me remember something I HAVE to share or else I'll EXPLODE

Back when I first learned about statistics and averages and all that, before we even had that topic in school, I learned it from my mom. She had just joined a non-profit that helps establish better conditions for horse stables/barns here I Germany, and went through a seminar with them to learn how to do good evaluations for them.

So naturally, I asked her how that worked, and she told me the following, which, years later, I would also be taught in school:

When calculation an average, there's multiple different ways.

1. You add all scores together and divide it by the number of scores. (This is the mean average)

2. You put all scores in a line in order from smallest to largest and find the one in the middle (this is the median)

3. You line up all scores from smallest to largest and remove the lowest and highest. Then you add the remaining scores together and divide by the number of scores you added together. (This is technically also the average)

Number 3 was the one they used. This got rid of such outlier scores and over all made the average more representative of the general opinion. In some cases, you might remove more than one score on every side, depending on how large your data base is.

In every study, you will have an outlier that performs drastically different from the average participants. This falsifies the results, often altering the results, as is describes in this meme in whatever alteration its depicted. That's why, for a clean and representative average, you take away the outlier scores from each end!

Random facts about Alex

Content, let's go! As I wanted, I will do a compilation of facts about each character. Firstly I will do Alex, because you love her guys. You can read about her more here, if you are new!

➤At the beginning of development, Alex was far from being one of main characters in au, but only a funny addition to Benrey, like Lee. But unlike Lee, Alex didn't do anything at all and only used to support jokes and throw in her quips.

➤The appearance of the old woman changed many times, mostly it was minor changes that led to the image that exists now. At first, Alex looked like a tired girl in her 30s with a short hairstyle.

➤Alex's anger as part of the character turned out to be accidental. The fact is that from the very beginning she reacted quite sharply to Gordon, and Gordon was in the plot… a lot. Otherwise, she was quite calm, and her mood was close to "good".

➤The main shape of Alex is a triangle, and the color is toxic green.

➤A woman's favorite coffee is cappuccino with almonds, brown sugar, caramel and with a colored sprinkle on top (sprinkling is optional). That's what she always drinks.

➤Alex has a medium intensity shadow on her face. It is unknown what casts this shadow. Or maybe it's a birthmark?..

Hellooooo peeps (me and my diary of sorts!)!!!!!!!!

What a day it was! Longgggg longggg day but went great enough!!!!

So here's today's list:

1. Attended 5 hourssss of classes. Gods some of them were so boring n I was so sleepy but again some of them were AMAZING and so fun I look forward to them!!!!

2. Got my social media plans for the co. approved!!!! 🥺❤️🥳 In fact they loved the template and the whole thought behind it!!! So this project of mine is gonna have a FANTASTIC start for sure!!!! I hope to get done w the posts soon so I can start posting from next Monday. 🤞

3. Went through the site of the entrepreneur I have to interview and worked out some questions for that. Bit more work required on it but I'll finish it off tomorrow.

So that was all for today. Pretty exhausting but great. Got to know about an upcoming test too. It's on next Monday so I am planning to start studying a bit early and hell I'm gonna top this first test for sure!!! 😤

So far this posting thing is working out amazingly for me 😁🥳

my brain is too fried right now to do any kind of exhaustive list so i’m gonna rec a few things that i know you could get your hands on/available in translation:

for two thousand years, by mihail sebastian - really heartbreaking yet also lucid, adventurous and darkly humorous memoir of a Jewish writer in his youth at the height of nazism in romania (there’s even a Penguin classic of it)

diary of a short-sighted adolescent by mircea eliade - a funny and bittersweet bildungsroman about a bookish teenager who wants to read everything now and be the cleverest person alive while also struggling with being super lazy and unmotivated because he’s young and restless, it’s very #relatable. but it’s also fascinating to read this in opposition with “for two thousand years” because eliade entertained legionnaire nazi sympathies at one point. (also, you should check out his novellas too, especially the fantastic ones)

anything you can find in translation by gabriela adamesteanu - just lovely, delicate prose about growing up, being an adult, inhabiting your body and your feelings in an oppressive world 

the hatchet by mihail sadoveanu (apparently, there is a translation) - a lot of people give this novel flak, mostly because we had to read it in high school, but it’s a great and deceptively simple little novel that says a lot more about people than it cares to admit. the action takes you through several villages in the East-Carpathians, where a peasant woman goes in search of her missing husband. it’s a fascinating mixture of crime and folklore and mythology. 

any novella by costache negruzzi, but especially “alexandru lapusneanu”, another classic we had to read in school and which gets a lot of flak. it’s so bonkers and #quality-trash. let’s just say there’s a scene where the power-hungry voievod/prince lapusneanu enacts a red-wedding situation and builds a pyramid of freshly severed heads to impress his lady wife *swoon* 

the forest of the hanged by liviu rebreanu - i know people argue this isn’t his best novel, but it’s got the most heart. it’s the story of a soldier/philosopher in WW1 who falls in love with people again. that’s it. he falls in love with people, and the war and everything in between doesn’t matter anymore. or it matters only as it pertains to people, and people alone. 

gallants of the old court by mateiu caragiale - a bizarre gem of early 20th century Romanian nightlife, a wonderful, orgiastic fugue, feverish and infuriating. it’s mostly about rich men and social-climbers getting into existential trouble, but also into real trouble. normally, because the action takes place right before WW1, this would signify the end of an era. but we don’t really have a beginning or end. we are part-balkan, part-french imitators, part-whatever-sticks. nothing moves us, and everything does. and that’s why it’s a sort of love/hate letter to romanians 

in terms of poetry, some personal faves:  nichita stanescu, ana blandiana, monica pillat, marin sorescu,  a.e. baconsky, lucian blaga, emil brumaru, nora iuga, marta petreu, nina cassian. and yes, mihai eminescu, our national poet, though i’m often in two minds about him.  

poetry in translation is really hit and miss because of the “untranslatable”, so here’s two lines from a poem by nina cassian, because i want to show you what i mean:

            De când m-ai părăsit mă fac tot mai frumoasă             ca hoitul luminând în întuneric. 

this roughly and poetically translates to:

          Since you left me I’ve grown more beautiful

           like the corpse lighting the dark 

and this is sort of lovely on its own, but you’d need to know and hear and taste the word “hoit” in romanian to really feel the abjectness, because “hoit” is a smelly, ugly yet also alluring, already decomposing version of “cadavru” aka cadaver/corpse. also “ mă fac tot mai frumoasă” cannot be accurately summed up in “i’ve grown more beautiful”. a literal translation would be “I make myself more beautiful”. in romanian, this is obviously idiomatic and not literal. and yet, these strange self-reflexive valences make these lines strong and eerie, as if the speaker were authoring her beauty, shaping it out of clay and darkness and “hoit”,  like a butterfly cracking the corpse’s shell to get out, but also retaining some of its mesmerizing stench. why did i pause to do a close-reading of romanian poetry??? anyway, you catch my drift

in terms of movies, a recent one i really loved was sierranevada by cristi puiu, which is a neurotic family drama that drains you but also lifts you up 

and yeah, the hype is real, 4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days by cristi mungiu really is that good (about two young women trying to get an illegal abortion in communist romania. it won the palme d’or for very legit reasons. it breaks you in small ways. the very last shot of the film you’ll carry with you forever). i also liked graduation by cristi mungiu, where a young overachieving girl is about to graduate high school and go on to study abroad, until a terrible event unmoors both her and her family. the movie turns almost hallucinatory at one point, filled with ambiguity and a kind of sleep-walking quality 

tales from the golden age by cristi mungiu (him again!) is also fantastic for anyone who wants to get a taste of communist romania and the sad-funny absurdities of everyday life. this movie is split in 2 parts and the format is that of an anthology, almost like watching several short films at once. and there is one film in the anthology that always turns me inside out, and it’s really silly, it’s this bonnie and clyde type story about this girl and boy who meet at a party and devise an ingenious get-rich scam and just run around a few neighborhoods trying to put it into practice and it’s...the sweetest, most incomplete thing. there is such a strange, lovely connection there that never gets realized, and there is a MOMENT between them where he helps her step down from this ledge and he holds her briefly to him and i remember being in the cinema and thinking THIS, this is THE MOMENT where i felt these people were real. it was such an honest, lovely moment. like the equivalent of this song. ANYWAY, why am i rambling so much??? this ask was supposed to be SHORT. 

aferim! by radu jude is also a really neat movie and provides a look into the historical romanian/rroma relationship and why it’s so messed up, yet also so organic

the death of mr. lazarescu by cristi puiu is also a great little film about a man who gets sick and goes to the hospital. and...dies, as you can tell from the title. on the surface, he dies because of institutional ineptness and a broken healthcare system. at a deeper level, he dies because we no longer know how to help people. various hospital staff in the film do try to help him and fail for various stupid or quietly heartbreaking reasons. it’s a movie about being physically unable to care. there’s indifference, sure, but also this great exhaustion of the human spirit. but the movie is also darkly funny. might not be a great pandemic watch, but then again it might be exactly what you need 

there are soooo many other classics in terms of books (morometii by marin preda, for instance, about a patriarch in a small village in the South who slowly realizes the world he used to live in doesn’t have room for him anymore, and maybe it never had) but i’m gonna end on a quote from ion creanga, one of the most cryptic classics of romanian lit:

“Şi eu eram vesel ca vremea cea mai bună şi şturlubatic şi copilăros ca vântul în tulburea sa”

my translation: “and I was cheerful like the best weather and frolicsome and childish like the wind in its cloudiness” 

and again, the words in romanian and their particular sound and bite (”şturlubatic”, “tulburea”) immediately take me elsewhere. creanga writes about childhood, but it’s never really childhood. he writes as an adult who, in my opinion, was never really a child, but a weird, small god of the land. i mean the word “tulburea” can mean both “turmoil” and “muddiness”. the wind can be anguished, but also just a little cloudy, just a little hazy, shrinking its agony, howling it in the child. it’s eerie and gorgeous. so, that’s what he does: creanga writes about children as if they were wind-like spirits. he writes stories about devils and the peasants who trick them and school books filled with spit and flies, and warm eggs stolen from nests and fairy-tales of a world that is buried somewhere inside us, but not too deep, things hidden under our clothes or nails or even in our hair. and it’s all so physical and convoluted, just like his prose. and i don’t think anyone will ever make sense of him and that’s what makes him so discombobulatingly great.

anyway, this was supposed to be...like, really short! and not gassy! i’m sorry. i love waxing about all this gay stuff. i’m so gay about it. 

realistically tho, the nearest thing you’ll find in your local bookshop is probably books by famous ‘theater of the absurd’ playwright, eugen ionesco, or novels in translation by contemporary author mircea cartarescu. both are pretty good, so go for it! (if you want to start small, i’d recommend REM by mircea cartarescu, because it’s so trippy and meta and captures that summer holiday eeriness so well. it goes well with this romanian song sung in english)

TJ’s eyes fluttered closed as his face hit his pillow. His mind drifted back to earlier, when Cyrus had left him upon seeing him with Kira.

“I’m happy for you.”

TJ screamed into the fabric. He hadn’t seemed happy. For the second time in his life, TJ had seen Cyrus unhappy. And for the second time, it was his fault.

TJ flipped himself around, staring at the ceiling. His eyes were glossy. He hadn’t meant to make him feel like that. He really hadn’t. Stupid Kira, TJ thought, making Cyrus feel like less then he is.

Lately Kira had been driving him up a wall. She always wanted to be with him, and it was becoming an issue. Every game had to be with Kira. Every meal had to be with Kira. TJ wouldn’t be surprised if she started trying to use the bathroom with him too. He buried his face in his hands. He had to see Cyrus. He had to explain. He had tried to, tried to explain that weren’t together. But Cyrus had look so hurt. TJ rolled to his side and picked up his phone from the bedside table. He sat up, and called Cyrus’s number. It rang. And rang.

Hi! This is Cyrus! TJ spoke excitedly, “Hey underdo-“

I can’t get to the phone right now but leave me a message and i’ll try to reply as soon as i get the chance! Thanks!

There was a beep and TJ inhaled tightly,

“Hey Cy. It’s,um, TJ. I just wanted to call to see if you were okay and um, see if i could talk to you anytime soon. Anyway. Uh, call me back if you can. Thanks.”

TJ was in english the next day when Cyrus replied. He raced out, without any explanation, and ran to the bathroom. He locked himself in a stall, and opened his phone up to the text.

Hey TJ. I can meet after school.

TJ inhaled. Did Cyrus hate him? Was it even worth meeting up if he thought TJ liked Kira? Maybe he was overthinking. He took a deep breath and texted back.

Hey Chocolate Chip Muffin! I can meet you at our spot after school. I have to tell you something.

TJ exhaled and rested his head against the restroom wall. Was he gonna tell him? It was risky. Very risky. What if Cyrus didn’t return the feelings? Or maybe even worse, what if he did.

TJ found Cyrus sitting sadly on a swing at their normal meeting spot. He was wearing a plaid shirt of two different shades of red, and khakis. His eyes were pointed at the ground as he swung gloomily, just barely kicking his feet. He looked miserable. Much more unhappy then his texts had seemed. TJ sat next on the remaining seat and turned to face him. Cyrus let his shoes scrape the ground to stop himself, so he was looking at TJ directly.

“Hi.” he spoke

“Hi.”

There was a long pause as TJ thought of what to say next. There was so much to say. He started with the already stated.

“I wanted to tell you that um, me and Kira aren’t together, like, at all. And I-“

“I know, TJ.” Cyrus interrupted

TJ frowned, “I just wanted to explain because I-“

“I understand. And it’s okay if you do get together, I don’t care.”

TJ got off the swing, “No, you don’t understand.I don’t like Kira.”

Cyrus got up too, and took a step towards TJ, “Then why are you always with her?”

TJ knit his eyebrows, “I’m not always with her.”

Cyrus responded,, “Well you spend every hour playing basketball with her,”

TJ interjected, “I don-“

Cyrus rose his voice, “-or talking to her,”

TJ stepped closer, “I don’t alwa-“

“-or swinging with her,” Cyrus said, his voice breaking while still being raised. He looked at the ground.

TJ was almost eye to eye with him now. “I-“

Then it hit him: TJ flashed back to the previous day, when he had been with Kira at the park. Their park.

TJ opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out. What could he say that would be enough?

Finally he spoke, “That meant nothing. Cy, Kira means nothing.”

Cyrus’s voice dropped to a sharp, broken whisper,

“Then why did you choose her over me?”

His words stuck there for a while, lingering in the air like strong perfume.

The boys were only a few inches apart then. They could feel each other’s breath.TJ studied Cyrus’s face for a long time, every feature taking moments to really be processed. Then he kissed him. He grasped he cheeks with both hands, and kissed him. He didn’t think of Kira, or the people who could be watching, just Cyrus, and all he meant to him.

Cyrus pulled away after a moment, and TJ let his hands drop. Cyrus stared at him. His eyes were wide.

“Why’s you do that?”

TJ laughed nervously, “Because, its not Kira I like Cy.. Iv’e been trying to explain, ”

Cyrus gave him his adorable smile, “Teej!” he laughed as he jumped into TJ’s arms, almost sending him toppling him over.

“I like you too.” he whispered

And that was enough.

Yep, Brazil! Oh, yeah - it was a high school mesh with business basics. THATS THE BEST PART!! TENSION!!!

This AU follows the same batshit illogical rules that wowp does. So the wizard council decides to pick out a human at random and offer them the chance to become a real wizard. This human happens to be Luz, who would give anything for something magical to happen to her. The conditions are that she has three years to master magic in the mortal world without wizard powers and then she will be tested on what she's learned and it will be decided if she's earned her wizard title.

They tell her she's the Chosen One and basically everything she wants to hear. But in actuality she's basically just a rat in a maze. They want to see what a human will come up with if given this opportunity.

That's when Mr Golden Guard hears word that this is happening and he's like "HI?? HELLO?? YOURE JUST GONNA GIVE OUT MAGIC TO SOME RANDOM HUMAN?? THATS JUST A THING YALL COULD DO THIS WHOLE TIME?? AND YOU DONT THINK THEYRE MIGHT BE SOMEBODY WHOS LIVED IN THE WIZARDING WORLD HIS WHOLE LIFE AND MAYBE DESERVES THIS OPPORTUNITY MORE??? HI??? HELLO???"

And the council just shrugs like "Okay two rats in a maze it is then." And the opportunity becomes a competition between the two of them.

Hunter's like "you mean....like a family wizard competition?? Is that's what's happening right now??"

"Yup looks like you two are family for the next 3 years okay byeeeee." *poof*

It starts off with Luz and Hunter prepared to do whatever it takes to trounce each other. They are both desperate for this magic for their own respective reasons.

Also Hunter did not think this through and he doesn't actually have anywhere to crash in the human world. But he refuses to let his new rival out of his sight so he intends to sleep on her front lawn. This arrangement works for about an hour before Camila realizes he's out there and she's like "OH MY GOD YOU STRANGE SAD BOY JUST COME INSIDE I ALREADY SET UP A BED FOR YOU"

So Luz and Hunter live together now. They're also both enrolled in the same human school for sitcom shenanigans purposes.

Luz is initially pissed because Hunter has a very unfair advantage in their contest in the form of his artificial magic staff. Although it breaks very early on and they're evenly matched once again.

You can guess where it goes from here. Luz eventually makes a breakthrough when she figures out how to use glyphs, which are a lot more unhinged in this universe and can do all the insane spells shown in wowp. It's just a matter of learning how to master them.

Meanwhile, Hunter eventually discovers Flapjack.

Once the two wizards in training now have a means of using magic, they are assigned their respective teachers who will educate them on how how utilize it.

They're kinda living vicariously through the apprentices they're training.

Eda and Lilith have been distant since their own family wizard competition but now they're forced together again in order to train the rat experiments. Lilith, because she's dedicated to the study, and Eda, because they said she'd be pardoned of her crimes if she just did this one thing.

And of course, everywhere Eda goes, King goes, so he gets to meet Luz and become her little brother <3. He's not a wizard nor involved in the competition but he's always involved in the shenanigans. Especially considering that Eda and Lilith have just kinda made themselves at home in Camila's house and refuse to leave.

(The "wizard lair" is the whole owl house, which Eda has shoved into Camila's closet.)

Vee comes into the story a little while later. The idea of a basilisk running amock around Luz and Hunter's school, hiding in plain sight by imitating other people seems very much like something that would happen in a Wizards episode. Realizing that she has nowhere else to go, Camila and Luz welcome her with open arms into their home.

Very very big strange (sometimes) happy family. Now they are all together, the chaos can ensue.

Hey people, I'm Myat, a high school junior doing the IB programme with very little cas so I should really work on that over the summer break ehehh. I’m doing Higher Level Math, Physics and Chemistry, Standard Level Literature, Business and Mandarin. I REALLY want to get good scores across all my subjects because I want so badly to show my parents that the exorbitant fees they pay for my education aren’t a wasted investment, and also because I want to be surrounded by brilliant people and just bask in their awesomeness xD Right now I’ve got 38/42 for the first term, but it’s ONLY the first term, you know? I’m just worried that with more content, I’ll suck more and more. eek.

By the way, the posts about studying and stationery, they probably won’t be that great either because I’m honestly not a good student. I don’t try enough in class, although when I reflect upon it, I really WANT to, but I DON’T. There’s just this gap in where I want to get to and the effort that I put in, and I am hoping that having this tumblr is going to help me stay accountable to myself, you know? Also, The studyblr community is both awe-inspiring and incredibly intimidating. How is everyone’s handwriting so neat and cute? And your organisation skills and discipline? And all the detailed illustrations and hand-drawn biology diagrams. HOWWW???

And then random stuff cuz why not?

1. I’m an only child so I’m not really good at talking to people in general. At least, that’s what I’d like to think. For example, I went to an Open House at a university and I got VISIBLY sweaty when asking the presenting professor questions about the course. And then again when asking this dude about on-campus housing. Disgusting.

2. When around friends (how do I even get friends? I honestly don’t remember but am grateful to all these wonderful people), I am less of a nervous wreck and someone even told me that they feel very calm around me. That felt nice, heheh. I’d like to think that I am pretty open-minded to new ideas but really stupid at defending my own so I become a pushover, which feels less nice.

3. I am really okay with sharing anything if somebody asks, but if you don’t, I fade into the back and just listen to what everyone else has to say. Online, however, it’s pretty much chunks of text everywhere. Like this. Good to know that I’m consistent!

4. I REALLY am not an organised student and my table is a freaking mess. Like, ACTUALLY a mess. I’d show you but some dude stole my phone while I was on a school trip in Paris last week so I can’t take a pic now. I’m in the midst of clearing it up but uh… I’m not good at following things through..? I thought of dumping all of it in a box then I realised I’d never use them if they weren’t in my sights so now I’m thinking of getting some (LOTS OF) desk organisers. :3

5. I’m not very funny or charismatic, sadly. What I am is very child-like. I’ve always felt like everyone else in my friend group babies me. Not because they do anything demeaning or whatever, but they let me get away with a lot and are hardly snarky with me. Being the friend group’s baby is awesome! HEHHEHHEHE

6. I still like watching kiddy shows like MLP:FiM cuz COLOURS and SONGS and they’re easy to watch. Stuff happens that isn’t ONLY combat-based or heavily melodramatic, or corny and painful to get through. Non-kiddy shows I like include You Me Her and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, all the romcoms basically XD

7. I hate doing schoolwork online cuz I don’t like the ‘distance’ between me and the work. Does that make sense?  meh.

8. Apparently, I haven’t got a Singaporean accent even though I was born and raised here. I dunno man. I blame a year of watching only British YouTubers and years more of watching Hi5 (ugh I can’t with the new cast) and Barney on TV.

Hello Tumblr! I have decided to make another blog dedicated to fitness and studying to help me achieve my dream of getting more fit and good results on my exams so I could study genetic engineering next year at university! I'm a strong believer that having supporting people around you can significally benefit one's journey to whatever their dream is. Thus, I'm hoping to find supportive new friends that would encourage me and vice versa, of course. So, a little about me: My name is Marilin, I live in Estonia and I am 18 years old. Im currently in 12th grade, about to finish high school. Hopefully I will start studying genetic engineering next year. Although I've always been a rather artistic person, I really enjoy science. Especially genetics and physics. About my blog: 1) I will try to post (picture, text) at least once a day to keep it updated. 2) I am going to start two challenges at the same time. 100 days of productivity and 100 days of health. I will try to conclude them both in one post. Anyone who wishes to join in is more than welcome. 3) For those who don't know what these challenges are about - for 100 days in a row, you should do atleast once a day either something productive or healthy (finish your assignment, go for a 15 minute run etc) Once I'm done with these challenges, I will make a longer post about them.
