i'm not much of a sci-fi person just because i've never really found those types of questions interesting in a fictional context... if that makes sense. as far as narratives go i'm more interested in the old grrm-ism "the human heart in conflict with itself." but. the extent to which dbh pissed me off has made me start reading and watching sci-fi like a lunatic.

#and this is not me saying that my opinions are objectively correct obviously sci-fi is a good genre with good works and many people like it #it's just not really for me personally although i am really enjoying my current journey through the general 'robots are people too' subgenr #going to have to rewatch blade runner probably. thought it was good but slow last time i watched it.#also was kind of disappointed by ghost in the shell because it's put up on such a pedestal #and i've been saving it for so long expecting it to knock my socks off and it was just fine. it was good. it just didn't amaze me.#i thought they were going to go further into it. it wasn't enough. ruminate. RUMINATE.#i have the most insane 'ideas for a dbh fic' word doc right now. my idea for it would take like one million words.#and would require a lot of disregarding canonical paths #at which point it becomes more of an Inspired By instead of a fic. which is not ideal. since i'm not qualified to write original sci-fi.#i'm just rambling now bye.
