Guarding the Rails
Part 3 for the Underground Au! For once, Conductor doesn't show up to the tournament, but it seems there is someone else interesting in his place.
“Signing up again, Beauty?”
“Yeah, well, what can I say?”
What could Elesa say? It’d been five months now since her first initial dive down into the subways, and in those five months she’d only missed one single tournament. She’d yet to make it into anything particularly noteworthy - not finals, semi-finals, or even really semi-semi-semi-finals - but she had had people come up and compliment her, saying they seemed to work well with her pokemon, giver her some tips and pointers, the like. She’d also finally transferred her tournament team into subway balls, though she went for the ‘look mostly like regular pokeballs but won’t sync with pokecenters’ rather than some of the pretty or flashy variants that were offered.
“Have you seen Conductor around?” Elesa asked as she tossed one of her pokeballs casually, looking around. It was hard to see through the mob of people, but Conductor seemed to essentially have a second sense for all things going on in the underground and usually found her not too long after she arrived. She wasn’t sure why he seemed to usually stay near her - maybe he was suspicious of her, seeing as she was a gym leader and he clearly was aware of that? - but she enjoyed his company. She’d yet to see him battle, or even with any pokemon at all, and she was unsure what he got out of all this. Maybe he just enjoyed the atmosphere; he certainly wouldn’t be alone in that, there were easily as many, if not more, spectators than there were actual people competing in the actual tournament.
“Can’t say I have, Beauty. I’ve seen Guard, though.” Bugspray wrote Elesa’s stand-in name on the board. She still wasn’t sure how she felt about it - it was a little too spot-on to who she was - but she also had yet to think to change it. If she wanted to, she needed to do it soon, because the name was really starting to stick.
“Guard?”
“Oh, right, you haven’t been here very long, huh? Yeah, Guard. Never seen him and Conductor in the same place. Last I saw him was by the stairs.” Bugspray nodded in the direction of said stairs.
Well, Bugspray, in the grouchy woman’s wisdom, had yet to steer Elesa wrong - or at least had no reason to give Elesa bad advice - and so she headed in that direction.
It didn’t take long for Elesa to figure out just who Bugspray was talking about and why Buspray had seemed so convinced that this ‘Guard’ would be in some way connected to the currently-absent Conductor. He lounging on the stairs with a baseball cap on and tugged low, wearing a nondescript jacket. It was a sense of fashion that one saw repeatedly from those who frequented the tournament. Perhaps, for those who didn’t know Condcutor, Guard would appear just as bland or unammusing as any other trainer there. However, Elesa had spent enough time with Conductor over the past few months (admittedly only for a few hours at a time per month) that even with the dark and confusing black lights set up the two men had clear similarities. For one, both had the long sideburns, the same whitish-gray color that glowed in the blacklight. They boht it would seem also had permanent facial expression -r at least, Elesa had to assume this man’s was permanent, though only talking to him would reveal that. Instead of a smile that didn’t always reach his eyes, the man was frowning, though in a ceratin almost disinterested kind of way. Or perhaps that was Elesa giving the expression too much personality without really knowing it.
“Guard?” She called out as she approached him. The man, who had had a pokeball in his hand and slowly revolving it with his fingers, sat up stranger at his ‘name’, looking around until he spotted her.
“Hello, ma’am.” Guard stood up, tipping his hat to her and hands going behind his back in a way that was oddly professional looking, especially given his current casual clothes. She wondered briefly what it was the man did outside of the tournament, but shut the thought down quickly. It wasn’t her place to speculate, all of the people here had lives of their own, lives that they put at risk by being here, and even in her own thoughts, she’d tried to give them the privacy they deserved. “To what do I owe the pleasure? And to whom?”
“I’ve been going by Beauty. BUgspray said you might know where Conductor is.” Or, well, Bugspray hadn’t really said that, but it was close enough to not be a lie in Elesa’s books.
“Beauty. Yes, I’ve heard, ah, ‘Conductor’ talk about you.” The man put his hand out and shook hers. “As you seem aware, I’m Guard. A pleasure to meet you. Conductor has spoken highly of your skill, as well as your character.”
“Really? My character?” Elesa tried to recall if she’d done anything particularly noteworthy and was coming up with a solid blank. Yet Guard nodded.
“Yes. I’m afraid, however, COnductor was unable to make it today, and he likely won’t be around the next few tournaments. However, if you need company, I can provide my own.” He offered.
Finally, Elesa couldn’t help herself, letting out a laugh and quickly trying to stifle it as best she could. Guard looked at her, tilting his head like a confused lilipup.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry!” She quickly apologized, trying to compose herself again in front of the stranger. Despite the man’s similarities to Conductor - she had to assume they were related. Brothers, maybe? - he was for all intents and purposes a complete stranger, and a stranger that she had just laughed in the face of. “Just, you’re so serious, and formal. And with, you know,” Elesa gestured vaguely the entire underground tournament thing they were the middle of, “It’s just so, uh, unique!” she said as democratically as possible.
Guard let out a hugg of air, and then, to Elesa’s surprise, it morphed into his own chuckle.
“Yes, I suppose I don’t exactly, hm, line up with the tracks here very well, do I?” He seemed to find this even funnier as he chuckled more and louder, shaking his head. “Well, if you’re as brilliant a trainer as Conductor has said, I’d like to see it.” He reached into his coat, hesitating for a moment, and then seeming to resolve as he pulled out a pokeball.
“Oh, are you in the tournament as well?” Elesa asked, but he was shaking her head before she had even finished her question.
“Never, I’m not one for battling. However, I would enjoy seeing your skill for myself, and you know what they say about pokemon battles.”
What didn’t Elesa know about battling? Well, probably plenty, but she also likely knew much more about the technical nature of battling and what old books and essays from all points of time had to say about the subject than anybody else down here. Unless, of course, other gym leaders were down here, which was clearly not out of the question.
“If you’re not one for battling, why battle me?” Elesa asked as she followed Guard. He led the way down further into the subway tunnels, away from where other trainers were battling against each other. While the tournament hadn’t started up just yet, plenty were either training and warming up for the coming battles, or simply enjoying the fact that they could battle currently, enjoying that freedom.
“No better way to get to know someone. You know, they say that battling used to happen between two trainers who locked eyes, no matter the time, place, or ages. If you were outside - especially along routes - you were open to battle. And in this way, people were unified through gaining an understanding of those around them and the pokemon of the area,” Guard said. “I’m not sure how entirely true that is, but I have found that battles do create an understanding not only between you and your pokemon, but with the one you’re battling as well. It's strange that what one might mistake for more frequent fighting could result in clearer understanding.”
“You seem to have given it some thought.” Elesa pointed out.
“If you’re down, here, I’m sure you understand why.”
Well, she couldn’t argue with him there. Perhaps he battled when he wasn’t down here. Could he be an officially licensed trainer? Maybe that was why he didn’t usually battle, he was paranoid of it giving him away. Elesa could understand that. It was something she’d considered, after all. Like Guard had said, battling gave you a fell for the person you were battling, and it wasn’t impossible for that to be a way for she herself to have her identity found out by someone who wasn’t Conductor.
Hm, did Guard know who she was? It felt wrong to outright ask, a fear of so much as whispering her name in the current situation.
They were well away from the others when Guard finally stopped. In fact, they were now beyond the other battlers and at the edge of where lanterns were placed to welcome those who were on their way. As far as Elesa knew, only the patrolling absol ever came this far out regularly.
“Alright, are you ready?” He asked.
“Always.” Elesa smirked and tossed out her leavanny.
“ALL ABOARD!” He shouted as he tossed out a crustle.
“Oh! Is that why you come?” Something clicked in Elesa’s brain. Guard blinked, and then slapped a hand over his mouth as if he could take back the battle cry he’d just let out. She couldn’t help the light-hearted laughed that wormed its way out of her again.
“I- ah-” He stuttered in a desperate search for words.
“You’re a big fan of the Subway Master!” She snapped her fingers the accentuate what she’d figured out.
“Uh, y-yes, a very big fan.” Guard tugged down on his cap to cover his face as much as possible.
There was absolutely no way that Guard didn’t battle regularly.
Guard and his crustle were like a single being in battle. Battles essentially demanded that trainers call out the moves of their pokemon, but Elesa wouldn’t be surprised if Crustle could battle exactly how Guard wanted him to without a single word even passing his lips. It made Elesa feels almost clumsy as she took the time to assess the battlefield and then tell Leavanny what to do, and then the time it look Leavanny to actually do the attack. As much as Elesa’s battling had improved of the previous months, she was till far more used to how battling was done in gyms with calculated thought and plenty of time provided for that.
Whatever it was Guard did, he was more than familiar with the rhythm of the underground battle style.
Despite that, he actually lost to Elesa, though it wasn’t exactly what could be called a fair fight. Elesa had three pokemon while Guard only had one. Or, he only used one, if the man was this good at battling, no doubt he had other pokemon up his sleeves that he just for one reason or another, didn’t want to show Elesa, even as far from any other eyes as they were.
“You’re good.” He said appraisingly and sounded like he meant it. She could now say that he definitely didn’t stop frowning, but he more than made up for the lack of expression with his voice. He sounded distinctly pleased with how the battle had gone even if it had lost.
“Not as good as you.” She pointed out. Guard looked away, again tugging on his hat to try and hide his face from view.
Guard and Conductor were certainly an odd pair and more than anything, mysteries. Elesa had never considered herself one who enjoyed solving mysteries before,a nd yet here she was, curious all the same but far too careful to voice any of what she was thinking out loud. Perhaps, though, with time, she’d learn more.
Gothitelle, Elesa’s current pokemon out, made a sudden movement, and Elesa followed th pokemon’s eyes to movement behind Guard. Guard was quick to realize something was going on and turned around as well. At first, it was too dark to see anything, but as Elesa focused she could see what was lurking in the subway shadows.
“Gothitelle, it’s okay, it’s just a kid.” Elesa put a hand on Gothitelle’s shoulder and gently pushed the pokemon to be behind her. With slow steps, Elesa stepped closer to the kid. She dind’t get too close, however, and eventually got down on a knee, holding a hand out. “Hey there, are you lost?”
The child’s features were hard to make out in the subway tunnel, but she could see the movement of their head as they looked down at Elesa’s hand and then up at her face. The kid’s head also turned to look over at Guard. Guard had also gotten down on one knee, though he didn’t say anything, just looking. The child, after a moment, seemed to come do a decision, as they ran back down the tunnel.
“Shoot.” Elesa stood up, ready to chase after the strange kid. Abandoned subway tunnels weren’t exactly a safe place for a child to be playing. However, before she could move forward, Guard stopped her.
“They were return when they like. I take it you haven’t been told about the little friend we live with down here?”
“Don’t tell me you guys just let a kid run around here!” Elesa dearly hoped that wasn’t it. She understood that some situations were more nuanced than they appeared and all that, but you would also think that of all the trainers down here, if many knew about a kid who was scavenging around tunnels, something would be done about it.
“Not so much. They say there’s a ghost that haunts these tunnels, and if I’m not mistaken, we have just seen it.” Guard was still staring off in the direction the child had run.
“A ghost, or a ghost-type pokemon?” Elesa asked. Guard shrugged.
“Who can say for certain. What I do know is that the ghost has been accredited with leading the police astray the times that they have found us, so I respect and thank it.”
“Hm.” Elsa wasn’t sure if she believed that, but she’d also certainly heard of stranger things.
“Well, we need to debate back to the station if you’d like your pokemon healed in time for the tournament.”
Guard turned and began to stride back the way they’d come.

Your Journey Begins

It had been a few hours since you had moved into your new house in Alola. You were sprawled out in your bed fast asleep when you heard Meowth call out to you. With a yawn and a stretch you slowly opened your eyes and stared at Meowth before jumping out of bed. Even though it had been a few hours, the boxes that held a majority of your belongings still sat unopened as your mom had said it could be done later. Figuring your mother had decided you had slept long enough, you assumed she would tell you to unpack all the boxes, and so you left your room and entered the kitchen. Your mother entered from the back porch and smiled. “You were out like a light, weren’t you? You ought to be full of energy by now! So (y/n) are you pumped to meet some new Alolan Pokémon?” Her voice was sweet and smooth and reminded you of honey.
“Of course mom, why wouldn’t I be?” You smiled at her, you were homesick of course, but this was an opportunity to learn about the differences between the Pokemon in the different regions. You had heard that meowth in this region was a dark type and wondered how it would compare to the one your mom had.
“That’s right I’m so excited! I want to hurry up and meet some too!” Your mom was just as excited, if not more, about the different variants of Pokemon. “We’re living in the Alola region now! The beautiful region everyone wants to visit! I’m positive the Pokemon will be friendly!” When she finished her statement the doorbell of your new house rangout pleasantly. “Oh I bet that was Professor Kukui. Why don’t you go let him in sweetheart.” You started to head to the door when Kukui just let himself in. You noticed that it wasn’t just a fluke when he video called you earlier on your move to Alola in that he wasn’t wearing a shirt, as he also wasn’t wearing one now.
“Good to meet you cousin, I’m Professor Kukui. You’ve gotta be tired after that long trip all the way out here to Alola. You feelin’ any jet lag? It sure is a far ways away from Kanto, it’s still (night/day) out here.” He said glancing outside through the window.
“Not really, I’m full of energy.” You stated sweetly with a shrug of your shoulders.
“Professor Kukui nice to see you! Yeah it is, I’m feeling a little jet lagged we just got in a few hours ago.”
The professor turned towards your mom and gave her a smile, “Hey (m/n) I hope you don’t mind I just let myself in and it’s just Kukui to you.” He chuckled as he finished his sentence. “Welcome to Alola you two!”
“I remember seeing you battle the Indigo Gym Leaders back in Kanto all those years ago, seeing you and your Pokemon battle, I fell in love with the idea of Alola and her Pokemon so finally here we are.” Your mom sighed wistfully as she got lost in her memories of the old days or as she liked to call them her golden days.
“Oh yeah haha I was supposed to be researching Kanto type Pokemon and their moves. Ah man, I thought I knew a thing or two about battling, but they sure taught me a lesson.” Your mother and Kukui laughed reminiscing together before he turned to you.
“But hey (y/n) let’s get a move on to the next town over, you gotta meet the Island Kahuna and get your first pokemon!” Kukui smiled and you pumped your fist feeling your blood rage through your body in excitement. You couldn’t wait to see the new types of Pokemon and make them your friends.
“So what exactly are the Kahuna’s” You asked with a slight tilt of your head. You knew that in Kanto there were gym leaders that you fought to earn badges and eventually worked your way up towards the Pokemon league, so you assumed that it might be the same.
“The Kahuna’s are crazy strong Pokemon Trainers here in Alola cousin. The Kahuna who lives in Iki town is always happy to give any kid their first Pokemon to start their adventure.”
“So they’ll just give my little (y/n) a pokemon? Better get a move on then (y/n)!” You mom said. She moved behind you and basically started pushing you out the door.
“M-mom I need my bag and stuff!” You said trying to push back against her.
“Oh of course silly me. Go get it then get out there!” She chuckled and shook her head as you rushed back to your room. You got your bag and then put on your hat, you glanced around your room and your (e/c) eyes fell on your adventure book. You quickly swiped it off the desk and placed it in your bag. With one last scan of your room you nodded and walked back out into the main room.
“Oh you look all ready now. Make sure you stay safe and stop by at home every once in awhile to show me those new Pokemon ok?” Your mom smiled and you nodded giving her one last hug before turning to Kukui.
“Alright let’s start out then.” Kukui turned and left the house, you quickly followed after him stepping out onto the road you looked around taking in the sight.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“This is more like it!” Kukui shifted and turned his body to the sky taking in a deep breath. He stayed like that for a moment before straightening himself and turning towards you. “So are you loving Alola so far cousin?”
“Yeah of course, I mean I miss home but this, this is so amazing!” You opened your arms wide as if trying to show off all of the island, you were interested in the beautiful fauna, the different traditions, and especially the different Pokemon you were sure to meet on your journey.
“Now that’s what I like to hear!” Kukui laughed a full deep belly laugh and looked just a little behind you. “Oh look here comes a trainer to meet us!” You turned around and saw a little boy with tan skin and dark brown curly hair running towards you with a Pokemon running behind him.
“Professor Kukui you gotta teach me new moves!” The boy shouted stopping in front of him his hands on his knees as he tried to catch his breath. The pokemon behind the boy nodded its head agreeing with his trainer.
“You already know the moves you wanna use dontcha?” Kukui asked a small glint in his eyes. You come find me when Yungoos learns a new move and then I’ll battle ya.” The boy huffed a little in disappointment but nodded.
“Come on Yungoos! Hey you’re the new kid right? When you get some Pokemon let’s battle!” He ran off back towards where he came from leaving both you and Kukui far behind.
“See if you had some pokemon yourself you’d be able to dive right into that tall grass and catch some new ones or battle. And then you could even battle the trainers! With Pokemon you can communicate with people in a whole new manner yeah. Now let’s get a move on!” Kukui walked in the opposite direction of the way the trainer had come from. With one final glance at your house you ran off after him trying to keep up.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“And we’re here cousin, this is the wonderful Iki Town.” Kukui opened his arms wide as if he was trying to show off the entire town in the space between them. You looked around the town noticing right away the platform just a few feet in front of you that was elevated and slightly decorated. Next your eyes were drawn to the buildings all in similar design to your own brand new home. “This town is where the folks come to worship the pokemon who guards Melemele Island. Tapu Koko keeps us safe and happy, see!” Professor Kukui looked around him a puzzled look appearing on his face, “Huh? What’s going on here? We were supposed to be meeting everyone right here, yeah.” He sighed and crossed his arms against his chest thinking aloud, “Maybe they’re all back there on Mahalo trail. That’s where the ruins of our guardian deity, Tapu Koko, are yeah…” He turned and looked at you a smile on his face. “Yeah okay I got it your first official task is to do me a solid and go find the island kahuna, ok (y/n)?”
You shrugged and stretched slightly a small but smug smile on your face, “Not to worry it’ll be a cake walk.”
He smiled at you and let out a chuckle, “Now that’s the enthusiasm I like to hear. I’ll wait around here to make sure we don’t miss each other. Now don’t worry about not spotting the kahuna you’ll be able to tell it’s him right away. He looks just like a kahuna so it’ll be easy to spot him.” You let out a sigh at the generalized statement but nodded and headed towards the Mahalo trail. At the entrance of the trail you noticed a girl who appeared to be around your age stare down at her bag on her shoulder and swore you heard her talk to the bag.
“Really? You want to go up to the ruins? I don’t know what you hope to find there…” She said softly not noticing your eavesdropping before heading onto the trail. Intrigued by her and on your quest to find the kahuna you followed behind her quietly keeping a safe and respectable distance. You followed the twisting path of Mahalo trail your eyes scanning the brush and statues trying to keep an eye out for the kahuna while also trying to keep an eye on the mysterious blonde girl. You noticed at the top of what you assumed to be the last set of stairs on the trail the girl stopped trying to calm her squirming white bag.
“You can’t come out! We’ll get in trouble if anyone sees you.” The bag stopped squirming and she let out a sigh of relief before continuing forward. You guessed she was speaking to a Pokémon in the bag but found it strange she didn’t let it walk along besides her as most trainers preferred to do. Still having not found the kahuna you pushed forward, though one could argue you forgot about your primary objective to try and find out more about this girl and her hidden Pokémon. Going past the stairs you noticed the girl running towards the bridge, or well you thought she was running at first just to cross quickly but it appeared to be her bag pulling her forward forcing her to keep up. Finally out of the bag came a blue and purple looking Pokémon that reminded you of the galaxy for it’s beautiful hue and the way it seemed to have stars in the two puffs coming off of its body. It didn’t look anything like the Pokémon you knew from Kanto so you assumed it was a new Pokémon evolved specifically in Alola. The Pokémon rushed forward onto the bridge leaving its owner behind only to stop suddenly as three wild spearows descended upon it. The strange pokemon cowered on the bridge trying to shield itself from the diving birds and you decided enough was enough. You rushed forward onto the bridge shielding the pokemon with your body. “Nebby!”
You heard the girl call out as you took the stings and cuts of the Spearow’s beaks hitting your body. A burst of light and energy came from beneath you, you assumed the strange Pokemon was trying to aid you and protect you from some of the harm, but unfortunately the power from it caused the bridge to break underneath you. This sent the two of you plummeting into the water below. As you looked up into the sky trying to brace for the cold water you would soon hit you saw a comet of yellow light come across the sky towards you. It was yet another Pokemon who stopped below you and caught you both, bringing you back to the safety of solid land before the broken bridge. It stared at all three of you as if judging you before giving it’s cry and darting back off into the sky.
After this new Pokémon left the girl helped you to your feet. You dusted yourself off and winced in slight pain.”Well I’ll feel that tomorrow.” You said with a soft chuckle at least glad you were still alive and able to protect the strange little Pokemon called Nebby.
“Oh...oh thank goodness.” The girl collapsed to her knees letting out a shaky breath, “I was so worried I couldn’t move to go help Nebby and then you both dropped and I stood there helpless but you’re both okay oh thank the stars.” She glanced over at Nebby and shook her head, “you know you can’t use your power Nebby, you couldn’t move for ages the last time that you did and I was so worried.” The pokemon frowned and made a soft sad noise floating over to her and rubbing one of its poms against her softly. She shook her head and spoke again, “No I know I shouldn’t say that you were just trying to help save me last time. I couldn’t even help you that time, much like this time…” She pursed her lips her eyes becoming glossy. The cloud like Pokémon made a soft pew before turning its attention to a shiny item on the ground where the previous Pokémon who had saved you both stood.
“Pew” it cried out catching its owners attention. “Huh what’s that? A sparkling...stone?” She picked it up hesitantly and let out a soft “oh...It feels almost warm somehow…” She quickly turned back to you a frown on her face. “Please forgive me. I’m so grateful to you for helping us out of that dangerous situation.”
“Oh, it’s no worries,” you said putting both hands behind your head. “By the by, who are you anyways?” You assumed after helping her out you could learn the cute girls name but she only shook her head at you.
“I think this stone is yours,” she placed the stone in your hand and turned away from you. “Please you mustn’t tell anyone of this, of Nebby. It’s a secret okay?” She didn’t look towards you again simply beckoning the Pokémon back into the bag. It made a soft pew of understanding and hopped back into her white duffel bag. Upon making sure it was secured she began walking back towards Iki town. She started towards the stairs when she stopped hearing a Spearows call. She turned around slowly towards you kicking her feet in the dirt. “Can I ask one more thing of you? I’m afraid we’ll be attacked again...can you walk us back to the town?” Even though you knew nothing about her you couldn’t abandon her so you nodded and walked her back down the trail towards town making no conversation.
When you made it back to the town Kukui was waiting for you on the other side of the stage. “Hey (y/n)! Looks like you missed the kahuna. But not all is lost you found my assistant.” He stated simply a smile on his face as he looked at the girl. Walking around the stage so as to stop Kukui from shouting he placed his hands on his hips a huge smile growing. “While it looks like you two have already met, this is my wonderful assistant!”
“O-oh yes. Uhm you can call me Lillie.” She said slightly hesitant.
“And Lillie this here is (y/n). They just moved here to Alola so help us take good care of ‘em.”
Lillie gave a curt bow to you her hands tightening around the strap of her bag. “So...you’re also an acquaintance of the Professor? It’s a pleasure to meet you.” You nodded and were about to say something when your attention was caught by some of the residents of Iki town shouting the Kahuna was back.
A man wearing white shorts, a blue shirt with what appeared to be a white rope tied around it and a yellow guitar symboled shawl came walking up the steps and over to your trio. You noticed he had graying hair and graying mustache along with a gruff voice that reminded you of a grandpa. “Did I miss something?” He asked pointed towards Kukui.
“Well no, but I thought we were all meeting here.”
“Well I am the Kahuna of this island if and when there are problems it is my job to solve them. I thought I saw Tapu Koko flying around.”
“Oh yes...about that Kahuna Hala. You see Nebby was being attacked by some Spearow on the Plank bridge when this trainer helped get them away. But then the bridge collapsed and I thought both of them would fall into the ravine. That’s when Tapu Koko the island’s guardian deity swooped in and saved them!”
“Really? Wow well that’s something you don’t hear every day” Kukui said his hand resting on his chin in thought.
“Oh? Although it is said that Tapu Koko is said to protect us, it can be quite fickle. And yet our guardian was moved to save you.” Kahuna Hala turned to professor Kukui and smiled throwing out his arms. “Well my dear boy I think we do have cause for a celebration. Seems I should trust this brave and kind trainer to be with their own Pokemon.” He walked over to you and placed his arm on your shoulder. “We’ll make a fine trainer out of you! I’m glad to meet you. Let me finally introduce myself properly. I am Hala the Kahuna of Melemele Island.” He removed his hand from your shoulder and took a step back. “This is Alola as you well know, young Kukui here told me of your coming. I’m glad we got the chance to meet today.”
You smiled at the Kahuna and admired his friendliness, “It’s a pleasure to meet you as well Kahuna Hala thank you for meeting with me.”
He smiled and turned towards the stage. “Now without further ado, come my Pokemon. Let’s have a look at you!” He threw 3 poke balls up onto the stage and out popped 3 Pokemon. “This here is Rowlet the grass type.” The little owl like Pokemon made a soft koo noise and turned in a circle. “This is Litten, the fire type.” The cat like Pokemon made a soft meow. “And finally Popplio, the water type.” The seal like Pokemon barked out at you jumping up slightly. “Now (y/n) who will you choose to begin your adventure with?”
