Heya! Just wondering, since Netflix Geeked Week will probably show a trailer for the live-action Avatar on Thursday, I want to ask a few things:
Are you excited for it?
What do you think they'll keep, cut, and expand in this live-action of ATLA - Book One: Water (Season 1)?
Since Bryke are not on the project now, do you have a good feeling that this live-action could be a lot better than what they come up with at Avatar Studios?
(By the way, were these "Braving the Elements" episodes recent from your last posts? And were Bryke really acting like complete stooges in them? :O )
Hi, thank you for the lovely ask!
I've been completely ignoring the huge Geeked Week banner so I have no idea what's up with that or that it's possible we're getting a trailer soon, so that's cool information to have lol
1. I honestly can't say I'm excited for the live action. The last Netflix live action for a beloved childhood franchise of mine was such a dumpster fire because they focused on being edgy and dark and abandoned the source material for the worse, so like? Past experience has made me extremely cautious in regards to live action adaptions coming from them. In general I am not a fan of this trend- the Disney ones are shit, and I only really find myself watching and enjoying the (sometimes shitty, but like, in a fun way) J-drama adaptions of old shoujo manga as I don't really fuck with any other genre nowadays. Anime has a long history with shitty adaptions for action shows, and as action is inherent to ATLA after all, even if it's not technically an anime, I know that's gonna be a hurdle they'll have to clear- just having good effects and fight scenes. It's not MY personal focus as I do find charm in shitty effects (I do like J-dramas after all!) but honestly that is probably what's gonna make or break the initial hype for the show imo. Rn I'm honestly just... So neutral about it to the point where it surprises me (I'm. Very much not a neutral person usually lol) and I think it's just a matter of like.... Being burned AND pleasantly surprised by ATLA stuff before so I'm kinda hedging my bets until I know which way it's gonna go for me. Honestly I can very realistically see me LOVING it, but the other option is that it's bad and that's kinda what I'm preparing for rn ig? I can't imagine I'll be too upset if it's just... Bad or unsatisfactory given that I already spend way too much energy on the shit the OG did wrong lol, if the LA follows suit with those I think I'll just kinda... Ignore it lol. Idk, A LOT of mixed feelings
2. I... Really can't even begin to imagine what they choose to do with the reduced time frame, but I know I for sure have my own thoughts on what I WISH they would! Mainly I want NO Kataang, if there's Kataang I'm not gonna even bother with it tbh unless it's completely one sided (which it was in the original, yet we still know how THAT turned out)... I obviously want endgame Zutara, but I'm not hard pressed on it tbh- it would be funny as fuck for it to happen after Bryke left over creative differences though! I REALLY want the Blue Spirit to stay, I really DON'T want The Great Divide (no way it's staying in though so we're probably safe on that front), and overall I kinda just? Want Aang to be more sympathetic- him being irresponsible in the original show only makes sense until a certain point, and I want an Aang that shows an ability to grow from early on. Aang's an awful, awful Avatar, and I truly want him NOT to be one here- honestly, a good way to get around some of his early issues would be to borrow a bit from Korra and twist his love for slacking off into an enthusiasm for all four cultures (rather than just their rideable animals), which I feel like he was CLOSE to having... But as usual with him it was all tell and no show- I wanna see him having friends in all four nations, I wanna see him being multi cultural even before he gets freezed, I wanna see him embrace all four bendings and cultures rather than fixating on air, I wanna see him fail and take responsibility... But I also still want to see him being a kid, because that's crucial, and while the original show never allowed him to grow up, I also don't want him to be immediately seen as and treated as wise and powerful- I want him to struggle with what it means being an Avatar who knows about it at such a young age, I want to see him meaningfully interact with his past incarnations, I want him to ACTUALLY find a balance! I think I maybe just... Want a whole new main character still named Aang tbh, because I DON'T like who he is in the original show, but I do like who he could've been! I REALLY don't want the show to be intentionally edgy- if it goes into any dark topics, they should be ones already raised in the original. I want some more light shed on how the North Pole and Pakku's sexism never went away, I want the show to acknowledge that the monks didn't go down without putting up a hell of a fight, I want to know what the fuck Zhao was doing to get promoted like that despite his constant failures on screen, I want to really dive deep into Aang and Bumi's relationship and maybe how Aang failed him on a personal level (he's literally the only one who would've missed Aang, not the Avatar for all this time) and how he mourned him for years, I want Aang to contend with and realize that he's in a war and how he's FOR SURE killed people and will have to again even before Koizilla (he kills so many people in The Northern Air Temple!!)... I could honestly kinda do with an abridged version of some of the Gaang's travels, like, a lot of them are neat but only matter tangentially or from a world/character building perspective and can be dropped/merged/replaced pretty safely tbh. For example, Haru doesn't really need to exist tbh, what Imprisoned does for Katara can and maybe even SHOULD change gears to focus more on her rather than this random guy who only ever shows up once more to get laughed at because he has a lame mustache. The Fortuneteller should be dropped or altered severely because its message doesn't hold up under scrutiny. Yue should be a bigger presence and be more of an established character. Jet should maybe get his role expanded. Suki should be more of a presence throughout. There are a lot of ways to make the first season better tbh, and also it NEEDS to change to fit with the new timeframe so? Yeah I hope they do a good job at separating the wheat from the chaff because god knows the original show did not know how to do that.
3. I'm honestly pretty confident in saying that Avatar Studios will never ever make anything good, or at the very least, anything that I'll like, but as to what the lack of Bryke means for the LA? Honestly, it's all up to the people working on it- Bryke being bullheaded and bad writers isn't exclusive to them, and if the staff is made up of writers that lean too heavily on the source material or drift too far from it that could honestly sink the whole show. Of course I'm happy they're not on board given their awful track record, but like... I know nothing about any of the people working on it in their stead, so a lack of Bryke doesn't necessarily equate to good writing (it certainly does leave out THEIR bad writing though!!)
Braving the Elements is soon gonna start reviewing the third season of ATLA, and it started in 2021 so everything there is very recent! And yeah, every time Bryke are on they prove themselves to be assholes all over again, they keep topping themselves somehow istg!
I feel that this isn't my most eloquent post but tbh I'm quite sick rn so this is the best I can do atm, hopefully I managed to answer properly anyway?

Thinking about the games and how did the old builders allow people to respawn? Like it’s not just the contestants but also those who just arrived like Lukas so how? I kinda have a few theories:
1) Modified respawn anchors but that requires refuelling every now and then
2) A dollop of admin powers. The old builders obviously don’t have it but somehow they managed to harness a fraction of it to cheat death
3) The world the portal hallway is in allows for respawn and when people enter a certain vicinity of it they respawn at that area. The old builders manage to study and figure out where they would respawn and build around it
4) A command block. Somewhere deep in the place is a command block that allows people who enter it’s vicinity to respawn
What do you think?
Oh wow- never expected to receive such an interesting question! Good job, dear Anon.
So, it actually depends on if we're talking about my silly Complex AU or canon. You didn't specify, so I'm gonna do both just to be sure you got the answer you wanted:)
|Canon|
You actually have two good points there: it's either a command block or a natural respawn.
Command block: probably the way developers thought about it. Let's look at it through all the episodes we have! It's pretty obvious Soren either was an Old Builder or at least had some connection to them, since we see his books everywhere, even in Fred's house if I remember correctly! Isa's palace also has Soren's books, but how does it prove anything?
It's rather simple: Soren had an access to all those places and worlds, which means he should've had a flint and steal. No way he found it back in Jesse's world because as we know Portal was unactivated when the main group arrived there.
We all know Harper had a Redstone Heart and Game's Trio had an Atlas, but where could've such powerful items come from? Since Hadrian is aware of what Redstone Heart is, I'm gonna guess they got it when Harper was part of the team. We also know for sure Eversource aka Benedict and White Pumpkin are not something common. Someone had to create it and I doubt Admins did it.
So what? Simple: Soren was an Old Builder or at least had connection with them and he had a command block, which allowed them to experiment with different mechanics and create what they created: Redstone Heart, Atlas, Eversource and White pumpkins.
Which means they probably also messed with spawn system and figure out that you can not only spawn, but also respawn. Next step: they went to the random most common world and set worldspawn at some special coordinates, allowing themselves to built Games.
Natural spawn: that's way easier! As you said, they probably noticed someone respawning and built Games there. I'm gonna take a shot here and say that one of them probably died and respawned, that's the way they figure it! Simple theory but still interesting. Which means Jesse's world also has a respawn somewhere or only a few worlds can have such thing (including Cassie's Rose world since we saw Sparklez alive and I want to believe he did respawn somewhere).
Also interesting theory: maybe each world has it's owns "settings on difficulty": easy, normal, hard and hardcore. Then Jesse's world probably has hardcore turned on, while world where Games are has easy, normal or even hard. But it raises questions like who did this settings, how and ect.
|Complex AU|
If you ever read my posts, you know that in this AU a whole ass God exists.
Mr. Complex and his horrible job!
Their favorite way to get things done is actually simple: "Have this somehow very strong object what does something. What it does? Idk idc figure out yourself."
To avoid lots of spoilers: there are certain spots in each world, where you can actually build a respawn system and it will work! But you need to have a special knowledge of magic that respawn system uses in case to turn it on. Someone from Old Builders have this knowledge and that way theybuilt the system in Games!
No more info because I don't want to spoiler too much.
I hope this answered your question, Anon! Thanks for stopping by:)

2023 Year-End Fic Round Up
many thanks to @itsmoonpeaches and @chocomd for the tags
oh boi i have not written a lick of a word since starting college again but here goes nothing
Words written (published or not, WIPs totally count too!): 149,165. probably have more due to wips that i started (but didn't finish) last year but for now i'll go with this number
Smut scenes written (if applicable): 0
New things I tried:
dabbled a lil in the Spiderverse fandom with my drabble a thin thread of trust, broken
tried my hand at a more romantically inclined fic premise with a love worth fighting for, my kataang forbidden lovers au
tried my hand at integrating Chinese culture a lot more into the ATLA world with Pangu, my kataang week fic written for the Injured prompt
other than that, there wasn't that much i experimented with. it felt a bit like the same old, same old
Fic I spent the most time on: definitely a love worth fighting for. twas a multi-chap with 6 chapters, with the word count ranging anywhere from 2k to 6k words? maybe even more. but not only did i want to portray the romance, i also wanted to flesh out the worldbuilding, develop other relationships b/w characters in this au, and so on. thus, this fic was warranted to be the one i spent the most time on
Fic I spent the least time on: a thin thread of trust, broken. it was really just a drabble from Thoughts i was having about Across the Spiderverse, specifically about Gwen and her relationship with her friends and Miles and also as a response to the unwarranted Gwen hate that she got post-movie something something misogyny something something redemption not being necessary for her because she was just a teen caught in a horrible situation but i digress
Favourite thing I wrote: oof idk. i think i really love how Pangu turned out, mostly because that was my first really deep dive into trying to integrate Chinese culture into the ATLA world. i know the premise of the fic was for kataang week, but my intention here was to delve deeper into the loneliness and burden Aang would inevitably feel in being the Avatar, and how it's always Katara (and his other friends) who help carry that burden with him. i think the story of Pangu really helps act as that parallel to Aang, but where the giant in the story was alone and eventually perished under the weight of his burden, Aang's friends help shoulder that weight with him and help him live.
Favourite thing I read: i'll be honest, i haven't really read a lot of fics recently, but one that does stand out for me is @chocomd's Enough, a kataang hanahaki fic, and its sequel The Deal. the writing between these two fics is incredibly gorgeous and haunting, managing to capture a kind of horrific beauty in both the hanahaki that afflicted Katara and the hope-turned-horror of Aang's eventual deal with... well, you'd have to read these fics to find out.
Writing goals for next year:
i'll probably take a sharp right turn from ATLA for now and head off towards writing fic for Genshin. i don't really have any good ideas for ATLA for now, which probably means i need a change of pace and to discover new material to work with. i'll probably come back to ATLA someday, but right now, between school and impending work and my hyperfixation on Genshin, i just can't find anything to work with.
in a similar vein above, i'm probably gonna take a break from romance and introspection and try my hand at action and adventure. unlike most of the Genshin fandom, i don't really ship anyone with anyone, and i also don't care about what the fandom thinks - i'm happy in my own little corner. i also recently read Six of Crows and i think it's high-time i try and conduct my own kind of plot. maybe through a mafia au? dungeon au? apocalypse? spy? who knows
even though i'm looking to eventually turn to Genshin, i do wanna finish up my pending Demon Slayer AU fic The Last Wind-Breather. i kinda want it to be a series of fics in the world, but for now i think i'll finish up the 2nd chapter and then come back to this au from time to time, write whatever comes to mind.
aaaand with that being said, i should probably at least get a chapter or two out for see the sky and sea (and remember me). started this fic in 2022, but even then i want to tie up my loose ends, give these fics the endings they deserve
Tagging (no pressure): @flameohotwife @benwvatt @shameaboutthedilettantism @coyotelemon and anyone else who wants to join in, feel free to!

===+++===
hey thanks for clicking on the button now let's talk about a wet cat given human form.
Zeno Eldiare
27 yrs, he/him, human-ish, bi
this is the first OC I ever really used. not my current favorite out of all of them, but he deserves to be first just on principle.
he's a pessimistically down-to-earth type of person. he has one hell of a temper. frequent user of swear words (there was a time where i was throwing a "fuck" into every sentence he said). he'll listen to your problems, but don't expect him to help solve them.
years ago, he was wrapped up in the mafia. he was coerced into it and he couldn't properly get himself out, so he just kept going down into the depths of it. he started as a hired gun, he earned a reputation that way. he took a fake name ("Atlas Pierre") and just kept getting worse. he was eventually caught and jailed.
depending on which universe i'm working in, zeno is either jailed on a different planet (sci-fi bullshit) or he's experimented on in jail. either way, he ends up infected with a fictional disease called Glaisica, or Glass Body. unable to be properly treated, the disease binds to every one of his cells-- basically rewriting him on a molecular level-- to basically make him living glass.
it's been a couple years, but was able to get himself out of jail and get his record cleared (it's an INCREDIBLY long story that i don't have time for here). he now has an apartment and a job as a mechanic.
zeno likes greasy american-diner food (large burgers, milkshakes, fries, etc), rock and alt music, crime dramas, cats, hole-in-the-wall bars, neon lights, karaoke, and card games.
zeno dislikes mornings, empty rooms, commercials, and getting wet.
when it comes to vices, he has a bit of a drinking problem. his poison of choice is whiskey. he also, unrelatedly, drinks ACTUAL poison because he practices mithridatism. see below for his recipe! (DO NOT ATTEMPT.)
yeah thats the most basic run down of him. he is my babiest girl and i have about twelve versions of him in the back.
for example: Blaise "Zero" Lucibello, who was born and raised in Adamas, New York [not a real place]. He's an A/V guy for the local news station. His dick leads him to places no one in their right mind would go with a gun (the mafia).
i'm writing a whole trilogy of books about blaise, actually. i might make a separate post about him at some point. teehee.
anyway! moral of the story! uhhh thanks for reading? again how the hell do you end a tumblr post

ACTIVELY PASSING AWAY!!!
the post you linked is actually the exact one I remembered?? yeah. I don’t have extensive thoughts on it either but I’m so happy you helped me find it again!! :)
I’m just gonna plop the little coherence I have of bending-related strangeness (not quite body horror) here:
firebenders, given their emotions often fuel their bending, cry fire/embers on occasion, trigger the ozone-feel of lightning when intensely afraid, etc. this makes more sense in my head but the idea of bending sources being more. physically linked to the bender is. sooo. and earthbenders thrive from their connection to the earth so I propose: earthbenders are always a little bit filthy, there’s always a little dirt somewhere, because the lack of it is psychologically agonizing. earthbenders from the 100 yr war with scars filled in with tightly packed earth. save me earthbenders with scars filled in with tightly packed earth.* earthbenders learning to bend each other from scar-fillings like a funky little earthbender-specific modified bloodbending,,, waterbenders having literal water filling their lungs because they move with the tide, the tide moves with them, within them, a cohesive, cohabiting unit. airbenders who compact air with each breath to be lighter, more connected to every sound and smell and sight carried on the breeze but separated from it all the same.
*I also have mako+bolin thoughts about that. so remember how I was yapping abt how mako (and bolin, by extension, would be physically realllyy fucked up? mako’s not technically an earthbender, but,,, ek genes,, and the brothers having matching creepy ass scars that freak the krew out a little bit but none of them really talk abt it,,,
yeah so that’s my thoughts on that!!
however I’m not done with you yet. I have au thoughts (again, to whose surprise?) so I’m kind off mentally ill about parallels in atla/tlok, sooo,, azula and mako.
I SOUND INSANE BUT HEAR ME OUT‼️‼️
so azula is known for her insaneee poker face despite years of repressed trauma and childhood emotional abuse, right. well. guess who else doesn’t express emotions visibly and is cosplaying a normal person over years of fighting for his life. ding-ding-ding, you guessed it, mako!
so, so hear me out here. mako directly paralleling something azula said/did (“you can laugh. it’s funny,” for example) a couple times. but then. but then.
this is where the au part comes in. something happens. maybe kill bolin, idk. (JUST READ THAT BACK WHAT AM I ON 😭🙏🏼) but mako gets the breakdown experience,,,
maybe shove zuko’s oldass in there as a bonus. bring in katara. have a blast, do whatever. but like he has to be sedated cause he’s just. losing it man. like sobbing and screaming and everything cause he spent so long doing everything to make sure bolin was okay (she spent so long doing everything to make sure she didn’t become like zuko) but here it is, all crumbling before him (he shouldn’t have been able to run that fast, it all crumbled before her) and he is absolutely powerless (what lightning can she summon chained up to a gutter? there is only so far her roars will reach, and they know to get out of range.)
I’m in my teen angst era rn and mako will in fact be enjoying the brunt of it. thanks for listening to my little rants and rambles :))
🐌
oh no way! i'm glad i could help you :P continuing beneath cut —
pressing the internal save button in my head on your thoughts on bending body horror. it's good. would eat hmm…
okay but when you translate it over to characters who make my brain turn,,, how did you know that it would intensify my opinions on the subject by 100x fdhkjghbdfjkshbjgdf personally i like mako & bolin to be not only internally fucked up, but also externally fucked up too!
ALSO I LOVE AZULA & MAKO PARALLELS. they are the two lightningbenders who looked at the concept of "lightning requires absence of emotion and peace of mind" and went yup, i'm going to dissociate the fuck out of life's collective traumas and use that to zap some shit up. there's this one edit somewhere out there on mako & azula doing the same feats in their respective shows which, if i were the type to engage in discourse, i would whip out to showcase that mako is not an incompetent firebender lol. but really — they're both firebender prodigies who were exploited and used by their respective mentors/figures of greater power. they both put on masks of feigned indifference because it's the sort of shit that enabled them to survive all these years in their vastly different but similarly dangerous environments. they're the pragmatists in comparison to their brothers and they do what it takes to reach where they must, with a learned apathy for those who get knocked down in the process.
so yeah! azula/mako parallels actually give me life, as do mako/katara parallels. (adding to the reasons as to why mako would've made a better girl, but i digress.)
ALSO mako paralleling shit azula said is actually so funny what i might have to casually incorporate that into the avatar!mako au sob dfjshkghjfdshjhhh
also jfc mako's breakdown would be brutal. that is not pretty shit. that would not be pretty. in fact it's so un-pretty that i think i'm going to write it (granted, maybe to a less explicit degree and without the whole dead bolin thing because it's canon compliant, but you bet your ass that rose beds & gasoline veins is going to delve into that deconstruction of everything mako's spent his entire life perceiving to be the point of his existence). anyway i love this au conceptually and you are so big brain for thinking it up. love your casual writing style too :)
until next time, snailon!

3 & 12 for the fic asks?
12. favorite character to write about this year i think maybe mai from atla? all of oatstf is from her point of view and i had a lot of fun exploring her character post-atla!! she's also the main narrator in where fire & ice collide which was. an experience to write. i don't think i'll ever understand how i managed to write it all in one day but i did have fun with it!! idk i just love writing for mai a lot (honorary mention to cherry my beloved bc i've had tons of fun writing for him too)
3. favorite line / scene you wrote this year ummm okay i'm gonna have to go with a couple snippets from a little bit of you & a little bit of me with jinora realizing she's nonbinary bc like. it was the first time i was able to put into words how i felt about the word woman. i'll put them under the cut so this post doesn't get too long + trigger warning for dysphoria
also though before i do that. honorary mention to this scene in oatstf that i think is probably the funniest dialogue exchange i've ever written:
“I can’t lie to the Fire Lord!” Mura whispers, her voice sharp, though that does nothing to deter Mai.
“It’s just Zuko.”
“He’s still the Fire Lord!”
“He’s literally just some guy.”
end of year fic ask game
Being a woman is something Jinora has only ever looked at from the outside. She sees her mom and her aunts and her grandma, and they’re all wonderful women.
But being a woman is something Jinora doesn’t quite want. Being a woman is being a square peg trying to fit in a round hole, it’s the weird feeling of not quite being in reality that you get in an early morning airport or a highway at night or at school after everyone else is gone.
Being a woman, to Jinora, is something she’s supposed to want. Just like she’s supposed to enjoy swimming or playing tag or sitting out in the hot sun. But it’s something she can only see the appeal of in theory rather than in practice.
If being a woman is a gift, Jinora wishes it came with a gift receipt.
&
Sister? Girlfriend? Yeah, that’s Jinora.
Girl? Sure, that could be Jinora too.
Woman?
That makes her skin crawl. That’s an uncomfortable sweater she has to wear because it was made by a family member. That’s the feeling of being outside in the woods under hot summer sun and feeling like bugs are crawling all over your exposed arms and legs. That’s the feeling of getting mud under your fingernails, or touching something sticky and feeling like it’s still all over your fingers until you’ve scrubbed your hands clean with soap and water.
anyway yeah up until i actually wrote this i sort of just. refused to think about my feelings towards being referred to as a woman and then this summer i sat down and wrote this and was like. oh. so probably i'm not actually cis.
#i'm not 100% sure the snippets from alboy&albom need a tw but i want to be safe#anyway ty for the ask!!#ask game#zukkot#tw dysphoria mention

Pyrrha V.S. Cinder Combat Analysis
Alright so with this post I'm going to be reviewing the fight between Cinder and Pyrrha, so let's get this show on the road.
In my opinion Pyrrha should've won the fight but just barely given that cinder has the fall maiden's power. Now what we know about Pyrrha: in volume one when we're being introduced to characters and such Weiss goes on an exposition dump talking about Pyrrha and how accomplished she is as a combatant "Pyrrha graduated top of her class at sanctum... she's won the Mystral Regional Tournament four years in a row, a new record." That's pretty damn impressive, so much so that Pyrrha in volume two says that she's on such a high pedestal that she's unapproachable.
Then later we've seen in multiple seasons, most notably volume three, of how well she fights holding her own very efficiently against two fighters (volume 3 episode 2). Her main advantage over all of her opponents has always been polarity which we've seen her use minorly when she fought Mercury and then majorly when she fought Penny (R.I.P.) but when she's fighting Cinder she can't use her polarity with Cinder's weapons because their made of some sort of stone/glass, I like to lean towards obsidian (obsidian comes from a volcano so does cinders from burnt wildlife, not all that important though). While Pyrrha can't use her polarity against her weapons she can use it on her environment which we saw, which I thought was very effective. That's enough about Pyrrha, we're gonna now focus on Cinder which may be a bit more difficult to talk about seeing how we have limited information about her.
So we know that Cinder is working with Salem who has some control over grimm, so Salem could've taught Cinder how to fight or how to think through a fight (though I'm a bit reluctant to think that because I think Salem is just using Cinder as a pawn) so there's that, we also know that she is very cunning in the way of planning out the Fall of Beacon and recruiting people to her cause (ie, Mercury, Emerald, Roman, the White Fang) again adding onto her tactical experience which is all said and good but tactics can't win a battle alone.
Combatively she has taken out a lobby of Atlas grunts, which I'm sure any huntsman can do so, eh ok that happened, then she has the successful mugging of the fall maiden which is definitely impressive though she wouldn't have been able to do it on her own, so for the most part she excels at guerrilla warfare, hit and runs. As for her fight with Ozpin, idk what to make of it there was no body to be found and we only saw them clashing so Ozpin could've slipped away via some magic bullshit or she did kill the body Ozpin was using but then jumped hosts we don't know, but I will give her this: from what we did see of the fight it seemed like she had to go all out to at least keep up with Ozpin which can lead to exhaustion.
Now to the actual fight itself, finally. So the overall fight itself was good, it was exciting, both dishing out damage pretty evenly throughout but there were two moments, maybe three, where Pyrrha could've ended the fight or kept on fighting.
So this moment was perfect to continue on fighting rather than being at a stalemate. Pyrrha obviously is overpowering Cinder in this position even if she can't finish it with her sword she can still turn and throw Cinder into the ground with a hip toss and at that point from that point she definitely has dominant position with Cinder on the ground she can stomp on her head, summon her sword and stab her and then get interrupted by the dragon and then we could continue onward.
Then there's this scene. God I hate this scene because it goes against all those years of fighting and practice because for me and my three years of fencing there are five tenets of swordsmanship and the number one tenet is protect yourself and when Pyrrha gets up she has plenty of time to see that Cinder is winding up her shot and she should've just raised her shield and let her shield take the shot AND NOT FALL INTO THE ACHILLES ARCHETYPE. That character archetype felt so forced, but let's say it's the heat of the moment and she doesn't notice that Cinder is winding up her shot and she does throw her shield WHY WOULD SHE BE TURNED AROUND WHEN THE ARROW HITS HER, IT LOOKS SO WEIRD LIKE WHEN I THROW A BALL, OR A FRISBEE AND WHEN I THROW IT I DON'T THROW IT WITH SO MUCH DRAMATIC FLAIR THAT I END UP TURNED AROUND. It really bothers me because she's a renown combatant and that's just a silly mistake for someone of her class to make. If she wasn't turned around she might have had time to see the arrow fall apart and then reform and potentially roll out of the way and keep fighting. And even if the arrow did hit, it shouldn't pierce the armor (though that's been under much debate).
And final moment that I think that Pyrrha could've kept fighting.
This scene. At this scene when Cinder is all touchy with Pyrrha spewing out her monologue that would be a great time to grab her arm and leap off with her good leg using her adrenaline to keep going and taking cinder to the ground and do some ground wrestling and hold on until Ruby gets there which wasn't very long. I just remember a comic someone made where Pyrrha asks cinder if she believes in destiny then suplexes cinder which was just hilarious, I loved it so much. But as I've been told before Pyrrha was probably going into this fight expecting to die but at the start she went in fighting for her life, at least that's what it looked like and I also know it was decided before this volume that Pyrrha was going to die it just seems like it was set up poorly hence this post.
Hope y'all like it and I'll see you on the next post.
