Sorry in advance for the long ask
Do you think the rumor about SM4 being released in the summer of 2025 is fake? We've been hearing that for the past 2 years but I'm under the impression he hasn't sign up for anything yet and I think he should at least do other movies before coming back as Peter Parker (same for Z as 'MJ') it seemed like something he was planning to do anyway so I really don't get why so many tomdayas here are so apprehensive about him filming a 4th movie so soon. Is that because they don't care much about his acting career outside of Marvel or because they're too greedy for more "tomdaya" content? 🤔 Sorry to bring this to your blog I just find REALLY hard to discuss this topic with them because anyone ends up being called an anti if you don't agree with their opinions.
And as for Z, I don't get why the same group of fans want her to be back as well, but don't like the idea of her shooting Euphoria S3 so soon (you know, the show that gave her TWO Emmys).
All I want to say is, another trilogy demands a huge commitment and if he wants more freedom in his career choices... well he knows the sacrifices.
IMO We don't need another trilogy (let alone 2 more lol) and I think Tomdayas need to calm down and stop being so greedy for content to the point they starting to see these two (especially Tom) not as humans with plenty of other choices, IYKWIM.
I love T/Z acting together, but they're not machines. Some of these fans are too damn greedy (I hate to repeat that, but it's true)
Hey Anon! 👋🏾😃 No worries about the long ask. Long asks don't scare me lol.
Now to unpack all of this.....
Do you think the rumor about SM4 being released in the summer of 2025 is fake? We've been hearing that for the past 2 years but I'm under the impression he hasn't sign up for anything yet
I mean...Rumors are just rumors. Films get rumors all the time. 🤷🏾‍♀️ Right now, all we've been getting are possible projected time frames that they might want to release SM4. But of course, things can change all the time.
Honestly? At THIS point, I wouldn't even worry too much about release years until the film has actually been filmed. Let's first work on seeing the film being filmed FIRST, and THEN we can worry about the release date/year. Sound good? 😊
I think he should at least do other movies before coming back as Peter Parker (same for Z as 'MJ')
Well, that's exactly what he's going to be doing?? He has to film Astaire the biopic. He also filmed TCR. To me, Tom HAS been filming other things before coming back as Peter Parker. We also don't know what he might have after the FA biopic either.
Zendaya too has filmed other things herself after playing MJ. She filmed "Challengers", and "Dune: Part 2". She will also have S3 of Euphoria to film as well. 🤷🏾‍♀️
I really don't get why so many tomdayas here are so apprehensive about him filming a 4th movie so soon. Is that because they don't care much about his acting career outside of Marvel or because they're too greedy for more "tomdaya" content? 🤔
Tumblr media
Who's been "apprehensive" about Tom filming SM4 "so soon"?? 🥴 I haven't seen people being apprehensive about it. I just think fans in general (NOT just "Tomdayas" 😒) are anxiously awaiting a new Spider-Man franchise film after the last film came out in late 2021.
Let's face it, we're almost into 2024, and we STILL haven't received any firm news, dates, or casting announcements for SM4 yet, and the last movie came out in 2021. Can you blame people for wanting to see what happens in the next installment?? Especially after THAT cliffhanger??
And who's being "Greedy" about Tomdaya Content? 🥴 We already get a TON of Tomdaya content (especially THIS year, my goodness lol 😅🤣) without Tom and Zendaya even filming a SINGLE, SOLITARY THING! Let alone, needing to film SM4 for any "content". 🙄 Last I checked, we didn't get hardly ANY Tomdaya content while they were over in Atlanta filming NWH. That set was LOCKED TIGHT! Certainly not like what we've been getting now that they've been free from work. So, Idk what you're talking about Anon.
Sorry to bring this to your blog I just find REALLY hard to discuss this topic with them because anyone ends up being called an anti if you don't agree with their opinions.
Tumblr media
"Them"...... "Their"..... 😏
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
You all always show yourselves in some form or fashion one way or another smh... 🤦🏾‍♀️
So, I take it Anon that YOU aren't a Tomdaya.... 😏 Look, if people are calling you an "Anti", it's probably because that's EXACTLY what you are. Anon, people aren't dumb. They can usually pick up on bs a mile away.
And as for Z, I don't get why the same group of fans want her to be back as well, but don't like the idea of her shooting Euphoria S3 so soon (you know, the show that gave her TWO Emmys).
Maybe those people just don't care for the show?? Maybe they just don't like Sam? Maybe they don't like the writing? Maybe they feel like after 2 or 3 seasons, it's best for Z to move on? Who knows?? Look, I LOVE the fact that my girl got 2 Emmys out of the show (and she might even get a 3rd!), and she has been amazing in it! It's been a growth experience for her in acting for SURE. But not everyone has to LOVE every single project their fave does. Just because that person is your fave, it doesn't mean that as a fan you HAVE to watch every single project, or even enjoy every single project your fave does. 🤷🏾‍♀️ I don't see the big deal?
All I want to say is, another trilogy demands a huge commitment and if he wants more freedom in his career choices... well he knows the sacrifices.
Tumblr media
Whewww chiiiile....Let's just see about film #1 first. We don't know what Tom has signed on to yet.
And he's been obviously doing other work aside from SM. IDk what the problem is?
YES, SM is a huge commitment, but it's not like we've been there in the room with Tom and knowing what they've been discussing. For all we know, they could decide to film Parts 1 and 2 of SM in one whole filming phase like they did with the final Twilight movies. We don't know what they have in store honestly.
IMO We don't need another trilogy (let alone 2 more lol)
After THAT cliffhanger in NWH?? Chiiiiile...get REAL. 😒🙄
It's obvious they always intended to film another 2nd phase of the franchise/trilogy. Now, whether it will actually happen is still left to be seen, but saying "we don't need another trilogy" is dumb imo. That was what was always originally intended. If you don't like that, take it up with Marvel/Disney. 😒🙄
and I think Tomdayas need to calm down and stop being so greedy for content to the point they starting to see these two (especially Tom) not as humans with plenty of other choices, IYKWIM.
Tumblr media
I find it so interesting how you think that it's ONLY "Tomdayas" who are wanting a SM4 film to come out. As if, Marvel fans, MCU fans, and other comic book fans (or even just regular movie-goers period) aren't interested in a second franchise. Get REAL. 🙄
Also, your assumption that Tomdaya fans only want a SM4 film JUST because we are "greedy" and want "Tomdaya Content" is really stupid if you ask me. We already get PLENTY of Tomdaya content, and we got a plethora of it during NWH press. We don't need another SM movie to come out in order to have "Tomdaya Content". 🙄
I love T/Z acting together, but they're not machines. Some of these fans are too damn greedy (I hate to repeat that, but it's true)
Tumblr media
You've already shown what your REAL issue is Anon.... It sounds like YOU have a problem with Tomdaya Content. Oh well, sucks for you!
I don't need to say anything further. I've said more than enough.

2022 MOVIE OF THE WEEK #37
Tumblr media
magic mike. i truly did not expect this to be my final movie of the year. and considering how much i did not like it, it’s pretty funny in retrospect that it was. THIS was how i ended the year? with matthew mcconaughey’s tinsled butt?!?
to be fair to me, i was planning on watching step up after this one, because kayla and i had such a terrible time with it and she’d seen step up before and liked it, and i like dance movies--and i figured we’d maybe fit in even another movie besides. but step up was only available to rent, and i hate renting from amazon when they already charge a membership fee. so it’s on the ‘someday when it comes back to a streaming service list’ and instead i showed her work it (which i still adore as a modern classic teen dance flick).
anyway, this one was not even on my watchlist. but between seeing black panther 2 and the whitney houston biopic, i saw the magic mike 3 trailer twice, and since kayla was with me the second time and she agreed that salma hayek looked fun in it, we decided to give this a try and work our way to the third one. i remembered reading that the cast had been encouraged to improvise, and i knew channing tatum was in it and that i like him (mainly because i watched him and jenna dewan do lip sync battle together while still married, and she made me like him). i knew he was a good dancer, so while i had no need to watch him strip, i figured it’d be adjacent to a dance movie--which as we’ve established up there, i am a fan of in most cases.
...this was not a dance movie. this movie had no dancing in it. i kept waiting to see channing tatum show off some level of his talent, but it was just a lot of really dull, slow dialogue, almost no plot until the end, and a bunch of dudes stripping. with a yellowed tint to the outdoor scenes that reminded me of california fire season except the movie was in florida.
now, any reasonable person might ask, what did we expect, exactly, from a movie that is advertised as being about a bunch of men stripping? and yeah, okay, we were the dumb ones who expected some larger plot, good writing, really interesting choreography instead of just a lot of humping and writhing from half-naked actors.
but so many of the actors are genuinely otherwise talented! this movie has MATT BOMER in it, you guys. he’s given NOTHING to do but he’s there! i was so disappointed. i don’t like joe manganiello but i know others do, and alex pettyfer was famous for a minute--he has the most plot in the movie, but not in a good way. part of how kayla and i convinced ourselves to someday watch magic mike 2 was looking up the plot and learning his character and matthew mcconaughey’s don’t return for it. (like tom hanks and stanley tucci, i just never need to see matthew mcconaughey play the bad guy. i love him too much.)
i do hope to survive the second film someday though, because a dancer @actuallylukedanes appreciates is in it, as well as amber heard, and since i  haven’t checked aquaman off my list, i’m still aspiring to see her in something. and i want to know if they let channing tatum dance more in the second one, or let matt bomer do something. besides be a sexy gay stripper man, because i’m not saying he was bad at that. he seemed like was having a blast in the first one. tbh all the guys did. this was clearly a bunch of talented actors enjoying themselves...it just wasn’t fun to watch. though it is now a fun story of our experience watching it! and that can be worth it too.
one good thing i can say about watching this movie is that it meant i successfully watched 36 movies in 2022--which is more than i’ve watched in previous years of reviewing and checking them off my giant list. so here’s to a 2023 where i hopefully surpass even that. :)

i’ve always had extreme difficulty with short term memory, but that’s been even more so the case since my car accident a few months ago
this has resulted in me just documenting anything and everything bc i’m so terrified i’m going to forget. i take pictures of my whiteboards every day before i leave so i can finish planning that night. like—
Tumblr media
today or
Tumblr media
last week. the thing about being an educator is i can’t just show up to my job without doing job part 2 electric boogaloo where i plan out the minutes and materials for the next day when i’m not in front of the kids. bc then i’d be showing up to a job where there IS no job/i am unable to teach/there are a million classroom management issues. so this helps keep me on track.
at first i saw this as a very negative thing, but i am beginning to really enjoy flipping through my phone and seeing the cemetery of agendas for days gone by:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
like oh YEAH, remember the look on all the kids’ faces when they heard the ending of all summer in a day for the first time? remember the—respectfully—silliest figurative language group presentations you have ever seen? or when they had to pick which song of 3 would make the best soundtrack choice for a langston hughes biopic + it ended w/ them all drumming their desks and holding an impromptu bob marley singalong? or when we reviewed vocabulary + tone thru “opposite day,” where we practiced providing accurate “$10 word” antonyms and wrote a journal entry where we said the opposite of what we really mean (ex: the most exciting day presented as the most boring or vice versa)?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
or how the kids always race to be the first ones to use my word of the week before i bring it up, or how they doodle little ursula the sea witches on almost all their notes pages due to le guin’s almost constant presence on my whiteboard
yeah idk it’s making my heart hurt realizing i only have these kids for a few more months. i shoulda been taking pictures like this a long time ago

Dolemite Is My Name (2019)
Tumblr media
I suspect most audiences are unfamiliar with Rudy Ray Moore, which makes Dolemite is My Name an interesting film to have so readily available. In it, Eddie Murphy gives a terrific performance… but he doesn’t play Moore; not really. It’s more that he channels the man’s spirit in a way that makes you understand why he has fans. It’s a great companion piece to Dolemite, The Human Tornado, Petey Wheatstraw and the rest that also shows off Murphy's talent as a performer.
In 1970s Los Angeles, Rudy Ray Moore (Eddie Murphy) wants to be more than a record store clerk. He’s got aspirations to be a musician with hits on the radio, a comedian, a personality… but so far, none of his plans have worked. When he hears a homeless man wandering in and making loud rhyming proclamations, Moore gets an idea. Shortly after, he creates his signature character: Dolemite. After recording his act and making a name for himself, Moore decides to make a movie. This time, however, he might’ve bitten off more than he can chew.
Before I begin, I need to clarify that while Dolemite is a bad film, it's also appealing because of Rudy Ray Moore. Although “Dolemite is My Name” follows Moore’s career up to the theatrical release of 1975’s Dolemite, many scenes we see filmed are from other pictures later in his career. Such a blatant disregard for history should raise an eyebrow but here, it works. The key is Murphy. He's not really “doing” Moore. For one, even when Murphy is purposely being bad, he’s still better than the real thing was. In fact, all of the “bad movie” footage you see is grandiose art compared to the real deal, which says something about how shoddy Dolemite is. You won't care because recreating the past as accurately as possible was never the objective. The goal was to give you an impression of what it was like. Murphy has the same kind of presence Moore had, the same kind of charisma that made people believe in him. You do too. It seems impossible unless you’ve seen it for yourself but it’s at once a performance and Murphy simply being himself.
For Eddie Murphy in the lead role alone, this picture is worth seeing but “Dolemite is My Name” is also a great rags to “riches” story. Moore struggles hard and tries just about every trick in the book to succeed. His methods may be unorthodox, crude and dubiously effective but you admire his tenacity. Even when he fails, it’s hard not to smile because his losses mean big laughs for you. It may be mean but it's true. Seeing Jerry Jones (Keegan-Michael Key) talk about how he wants to infuse this story with all of these meanings - and failing -, seeing Dolemite director D’Urville Martin (Wesley Snipes) curse himself for taking on this project is hilarious. The movie knows it. Moore knew it too.
The big question is whether you should watch this movie first, or watch Dolemite first. My vote is for Dolemite first. You’ll get an added appreciation for what this film is doing and the “best” scenes from the 1975 movie won’t be spoiled for you. Plus, you'll have a unique biopic with great performances to look forward to even if the "so bad it's good" (although, it also falls into the legitimately good realm) charms of Dolemite aren't your thing. Save the best for last, watch this second. (February 5, 2021)

'US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday affirmed interest in watching both ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’ when asked about his choice between the two movies.
During the US state briefing, on a lighter note, Blinken was asked which movie — among Barbie and Oppenheimer — will he watch, if he gets three and a half hours.
“I guess I should also ask if you would get three and a half hours whether you would go for Barbie or Oppenheimer,” a reporter asked.
To this, Blinken replied, “First, I also look forward to seeing Barbie, but no set plans to do that. – again, have to find the time. Maybe we can do a double feature in the briefing room – for those who have seen neither movie.
This reply drew laughter in the briefing room.
On another point during the briefing, a reporter after asking a question on North Korea, asked about Oppenheimer as a follow-up question.
“…not exactly a related note, have you seen Oppenheimer yet? And if you have, what do you think?”
Blinken replied. “I’m glad that these are two very distinct questions. To take your second question first, no, I have not yet seen Oppenheimer; I’m trying to find the, what, three-and-a-half hours necessary”.
‘Barbie’ is a fantasy comedy-drama film starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. The movie helmed by Greta Gerwig has already grossed over 1 billion USD at the global box office, making Gerwig the first-ever solo female filmmaker with a billion-dollar film.
In the movie, Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling star as the stereotypical versions of Barbie and Ken, who leave the world of Barbieland on a quest for self-discovery in the real world. The cast also includes Issa Rae, Dua Lipa, Simu Liu, Michael Cera, Helen Mirren, John Cena and Will Ferrell.
‘Oppenheimer’, on the other hand, is a biopic tracing the journey of physicist Robert J Oppenheimer, known as the ‘Father of the Atomic Bomb’. The dramatic movie is set in the timeline of the development of the atomic bomb and the politics around it.
The movie helmed by star director Christopher Nolan has received critical acclaim and has grossed over 600 million USD. The movie carries an ensemble cast with Cillian Murphy playing the lead, along with Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr, Florence Pugh, Matt Damon among others.
Both movies hit the cinema on the same day, i.e. July 21. This much-anticipated clash also led to the famous social media trend ‘Barbenheimer’.
Notably, the Second World War ended with America’s attack on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The US dropped nuclear bombs names “little boy” and “fat man” on Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on 6th and 9th August 1945 respectively.'

airplane watch log
Ticket To Paradise
lasted till the daughter is talking to the seaweed farmer about balance in nature and then switched it off
The Mummy
watched till she's bribing the jailer to release the main guy from getting hanged and then switched it off
One Perfect Shot
watched all six episodes the plane had, did not expect to given that I don't watch that many movies. have a random smattering of opinions
really wide variance in how good the episode's director was at just plain talking lol. I could have listened to Lemmons or Sorkin forever, despite not having seen either of their films, whereas both Jenkins and Chu seemed to often stumble into awkward repetition
unfortunate bc Jenkin's episode had actual stuff I found interesting - that her foundation of WW is not just from the show but also from watching the Superman film with the dead dad x2 right after her own father passed
okay so when the directors go into their perfect shot, I thought it would be them marking up a screencap/video. No, it is them literally stepping into a 3D recreation of the scene
unfortunately all humans look like slightly melted dolls in those renditions. Sorkin's episode on the Chicago 7 did the best job of avoiding this problem, because they stayed in the 3D recreation for the longer distance shots of the cops and the protestors but flashed to the actual movie scenes for any closeups
Lemmon's episode was probably my favorite, despite having no plans to see Harriet (my instinctive attitude towards biopics is: what if I just read a biography someday instead of watching drama lol).
It also had the best trio conversation, with her talking to the music guy and the main actress about the shot that all three of them worked on
The two episodes where one of the trio is the film's producer made those conversations a little less interesting. Not that I didn't like hearing the producers talk about logistics, because honestly I love hearing about the logistics behind random shit, just that as a conversation between three people it never quite gels
Amused that Chu said the intention behind the flora in the CRA wedding scene was to feel like nature was breaking through the church and not to feel like a commercialized version of nature. because I definitely thought it was the latter and I thought it was on purpose?? sorry my dude, it was just peak SG-deliberately cultivated nature vibes. gardens by the bay-type shit.
Girls Trip sounds like a movie that a bunch of people who are not me would enjoy, and good for them. meanwhile I cringed my way through the zip line scene. (me, 5 seconds before the scene when the costume designer talked about how it's impossible to wear underwear with the dress in question: why would anyone pick such a dress. me, watching that moment on the zipline: i....no)
big fan of Chu's mom: "when did you become such a snob?" lmao sometimes one needs to get a little bit roasted by their mom y'know
wouldn't it suck to be a director with a really shitty signature and then have to end your episode by writing said shitty signature over the best shot you ever did. wouldn't that make you so mad.
i guess they probably do it like the disney channel drawing and so your signature can look like whatever you want but still. it's the principle of the thing
how do they do it
bruh there are planes that transport million dollar horses around the country, 21 to a plane at a time. what a smelly plane that must be. did enjoy watching a grown man address a horse as "baby boy" multiple times because said horse had never flown on a plane before
sometimes I forget how much stuff is still out there being made via individual, precise effort. people carefully carving into wood the mane of a knight chess piece, gluing weights to the bottom and covering it with felt. people placing six different wheel flies in a safe lock and adjusting each one
but also machines I did not even know existed, like the one in the stainless steel factory that removes excess carbon from melted scrap metal. (after they send a guy out in a fireproof suit to stick a probe into the melted metal to measure said carbon content)
TIL that jaggery is called jaggery

The Daily Mail has published a story telling us that last July Niall’s London apartment was broken into by an intoxicated man who followed a neighbor in and then hopped from a nearby balcony to Niall’s. Niall wasn’t home at the time, but his PA found the intruder and “kept him talking” until security arrived. The man was just sent on his way but he returned the next day at which time he was arrested; he will go to trial this July. Niall has been asked by the police not to comment on the case. Some people are speculating about a possible connection between this and Niall ceasing his frequent livestreams from his home around that time; maybe so, maybe not (we don’t even know whether this guy was a stalker targeting him or if it was random, let alone how Niall may have reacted) but it certainly reminds us yet again that there are always going to be factors we do not and can not know about that are influencing the public facing actions we see. The DM illustrated their article with videos and pictures of the interior of the apartment from Niall interviews and social media; also today a lot of pictures of the remodel of Harry’s Erskine House (you know, the place where he was terrorized by a stalker) that were posted by the architectural firm circulated. The hot pink carpeted stairs and disco ball are cool and all- but I guess I’m just glad there are so many things we don’t and can’t know to balance the things they don’t get to keep private.
I promised you an update on the resurgence of the ‘Harry Styles is Starfox in the MCU’ rumors #confirmed this time FOR REALSIES ETC: well, the update is that, despite another round of excitement yesterday stemming from a reddit spoiler post, there is no update. We still have exactly the same amount of info about it as we did before, ie no credible sources saying it’s a thing. The main account pointed to as a “leak” is a troll account and NOT a real Marvel employee, one real Marvel employee said one thing that might or might not be real and was not specific as to what role, that reddit post had nothing about him in it, and that is that. Sometimes smoke does indeed indicate fire, he might well be in the MCU: but there is still as of now nothing to confirm. There is a confirmed movie to be excited about though-- My Policeman content has begun!! A sound producer posted a picture of Harry, Emma Corrin, and David Dawson standing in separate sound booths in a studio recording something! Oh and yes that means he’s publicly in the UK for the first time in a long while.
Brit Awards nominations are out, somewhat anticlimactically for a fandom who had formed some lofty expectations-- Harry got a nom for Watermelon Sugar (British Single of the Year), and that’s it. He got Fine Line noms last year so it isn’t too shocking he didn’t again, and the others were honestly outside chances due to various circumstances, however much they might deserve the recognition.“SNUBBED!” fake complained Niall, but unlike fans added “I’m jokinggg” (suuure you are, but he’s taking it better than fans, who trended Louis’ name and Louis Deserved It, etc, for nearly a full 24 hours; maybe Niall was referring to being snubbed by the FANDOM, lol.) He further showed he was surviving the disappointment by retweeting the nom list for Harry’s category, one assumes to cheer him on.
Anyway the continued chatter about Louis’ promised documentary is a bright spot in a day of mostly negative news! Here’s what we know- Louis has repeatedly talked about how much he liked Charlie Lightening’s Liam Gallagher doc and implied it was why he wanted to work with him; that film does cover some Oasis breakup and personal life stuff, as it relates to the story it tells about LG launching his solo comeback, so while I find it hard to picture Louis choosing to do a ‘Louis Tomlinson This Is My Life year zero to present’ biopic kind of thing yeah, they could plan to include some stuff like that. But also we’ve SEEN them filming loads of stuff so we can have a pretty good idea what at least parts of it might be- Charlie and his camera were everywhere for album release behind the scenes (YES I AM ready to cry at the Times Square billboard moment footage and them watching the #1s pile up, bring it), the lead up to the release (interviews and music video filming and listening parties and stuff), Charlie recorded interviews with fans at all the pre-tour shows (and outside the hotels and soundchecks and stuff), and of course I would guess TOUR SHOWS and the rest of the tour are meant to be the centerpiece of it all, as they are to Louis, even if that’s been delayed. My only question, was Louis’ very public appearance at the LG doc premier when he first connected with Charlie about doing a project, or was that the public sort of introduction of the idea to hint at a partnership they’d already established? Maybe we’ll find out in interviews about the project when it’s done… Oh also I am down with the guess about Faith in the Future being a song title- yeah! That does sound right! Orrrr a documentary :))

how you forget to be human
“so is she like,” scott hesitates. “cap’s first lady or something?” rated t. 2k+. steve/nat. also on ao3 / twitter / cc
Scott hasn’t been with the team for a long time, but he thinks he at least has enough working knowledge of how everyone operates.
The Winter Soldier—Bucky to Steve,  James to anyone who dared—quite frankly still scares the living shit out of him, and that’s Magneto on a good day. It didn’t take much to deduce he seemed wholly uncomfortable in his own skin, his jaw coiled perpetually tight and the rigid set of his shoulders always in alert. It was uneasy just being around him, his discomfort bleeding over others and charging the air around his space with its own brand of disquieting; but always, without fail, Steve cushioned whatever apprehension anyone aimed toward his bestfriend.
Most of it came from Sam, and almost always in good nature as if to ease the brainwashed supersoldier into some semblance of normality; and Scott would fear for Sam’s life every time he opened his mouth, were it not for the also very obvious fact the Falcon held his own and didn’t appreciate handouts and the three of them seemed to be getting along uniquely (if not a little oddly) well enough.
The witch was a small problem, however. Simply for the fact she was a witch and Scott is wary because history taught him they burned all of them down in Salem.
He sees her wiggling those voodoo fingers around sometimes, almost unconsciously, and feels the hairs on his arms rise with every flick of her wrist. The energy around her isn’t suffocating the same way Bucky’s is. It was more a subtle nervous tingling; like she herself was afraid of the gravity of her own powers she had yet to have complete reigns on. Scott is oddly humbled by the fact and even empathises with her a little.
Steve keeps an eye on her and doesn’t bother hiding it, but it’s the archer who gets past her when it really counts. Clint Barton, who, surprisingly is the one he’s on the most similar wavelength with out of all of them: family man and all.
Clint Barton whose also friends with Natasha Romanoff.
.
.
.
Hawkeye who has simultaneously the most complex and impossibly simple relationship with Black Widow.
“I swear to god if you ring me up next time you’re out of goddamn Fruit Loops,” Natasha warns, digging through one of the five grocery bags on the kitchen island. She fishes for a few more seconds, before popping a colourful cartoon box out from under the bag and tossing it to Barton. “I’m bringing you in for real.”
Clint scoffs, placing the carton on the top shelf. “How many times have I heard that before?”
“Apparently not enough,” Natasha glares at him from her peripheral, scooping out Nutella and a pack of store-bought pryanik to lay on the table. Russian biscuits. For Wanda. “If I’m still stopping by an abandoned boarding house in the slums of Siberia every other week. Y’all grown men can’t do grocery shopping by yourselves?”
Scott blinks from his spot by one of the stools.
Of all the things he expected to wake up to in hiding from 117 countries from possible charges of aiding and abetting a war criminal, Black Widow casually arranging and organising their weekly rationale was nowhere near the top of the list. She did this all the while supposedly fighting for the other team.
This one needs no introduction.
Scott knows who Black Widow is. Scott knows Captain America, after all.
You don’t grow up in the land of the free without knowing his legacy even in minute passing. The man has been plastered on nearly every surface of the continent since the dawn of America. Scott has seen the news footages, read the official accounts, willingly devoured every single documentary or biopic helmed in honour of their nation’s greatest hero: he knows, down to the bone, the star-spangled man with a plan.
A forgotten and revered and rebirthed war hero.
How he came to know of her, however, is an entirely different story: because come the news footages, zoom in close enough you’ll see the infamous shield covering a much smaller and daintier figure; go over the accounts with a fine-toothed comb, they speak of a levelled dynamic between a commanding officer and a shadow leader; and, lest history not forget, the documentaries: Peggy, because behind every great man is a woman, Natasha.
“Now why would we do that if we got you?” Sam. He comes up from behind the hallway to playfully grin at Natasha before enveloping her in a small hug. She returns it easily.
Scott braces himself for what’s to come, because they came in a pair, and so: “Nat,” Steven Grant Rogers, in the flesh himself, pokes his head in not a moment later with a barely indisputable frown on his face. “You came here again?”
Natasha clicks her tongue at him. “Someone had to make sure you boys were fed.”
“That’s not— We can—” Steve stutters as he strides in, and Scott has to very carefully school his features into nonchalance because Captain America does not stammer. He sighs deeply before settling next to her, nudging her with his hip. “Tony atleast know you're here?”
Natasha gives him a pointed look. “Who do you think paid for all this?”
.
.
.
Scott watches their silhouettes grow smaller and smaller by the distance.
Even from afar, he can make out Steve’s absolute hulk of a frame: back impossibly straight in a way that bespoke authenticity, years of rigid military training drilled into his bones; only he seemed to mellow, somehow and very slightly, the fine lines of his shoulders angled in the direction of her voice. And Natasha: brave and lithe, nearly a head shorter and so much more smaller, facing forward in full confidence and a leisurely stride in her steps.
Siberia has a biting night air that seeps deep into the bone. But it’s also comforting somehow; all of them knowing, in one way or another, what it was like to be iced out from society.
They were all huddled by the makeshift campfire Barton fashioned out of some wooden logs and a matchstick. Sam, in charge of roasting marshmallows, was gently coaxing Bucky into eating one and promising him it’s not poisoned. Wanda was handing out steaming cups of hot chocolate brewed from the pack Natasha brought in a few hours ago, a staple in her weekly grocery runs because apparently the kid witch liked sweets.
Scott gingerly takes a sip from his mug, some of the warmth seeping into liquid courage he was building up for weeks now. He takes a deep breath before plunging himself into the waves.
“I can’t be the only one worried that the enemy has infiltrated our territory, right?”
To their credit, neither of them kill him on sight.
Wanda pauses in levitating one of the wooden logs above the hearth, a single bark of kindling hovering uncertainly over the air. Bucky has an unreadable expression on his face when he regards him. A look passes between Sam and Clint, betraying nothing of their inner thoughts at his outburst.
The fire is nice and toasty, but the air is stifling now and Scott has never felt more the outsider than at that very moment.
Until Sam breaks into a hearty laugh. “Widow?” he shakes his head amusedly. “No, man, Steve and Nat are tight. They’re past stuff like that.”
Scott furrows his eyebrows in concern. “But isn’t she—”
“On Tony’s side?” Clint quips, poking at one of the planks. Wanda finally drops the floating bark, and Scott doesn’t miss the flash of something in her eyes when she glances at him from the other side of the fire. He thinks he saw a spark of red for a second. “Sure, I guess. Technically she’s Team Iron Man or whatever that means. But Natasha is also fiercely loyal, especially when it comes to Steve.”
“What does that  mean?” Scott asks in genuine confusion.
Sam opens his mouth to elaborate, words already forming on his mouth; before he seems to come to a belated realisation, blinks, and manages a nonchalant shrug. "Damn if I know,” he admits, turning over a puffy mallow and watching the crackles of fire burn its edges. “But she’s good for him. That’s all I care about.”
“And he’s good for her,” Clint returns easily, not an ounce of hesitation in his voice. “Maybe sometimes it’s just that easy.”
They hear the crunching of footsteps on snow creeping up behind them, and Scott takes this as his cue to stash the conversation for another time.
He watches them stroll in together carefully.
Steve holds the gate open for her and places a small hand on her back as they advance in the small patch of woods by the backyard. Natasha settles next to Wanda, hands going up and down her arms to warm the younger girl despite being the one having only just gone out for a walk in the middle of Russian winter: because, and at this Scott is now confident, the jacket resting on her shoulders three times her size was keeping her warm enough.
.
.
.
The quinjet doesn’t start up right away.
Scott is slowly panicking, because the realisation that he was truly out of his depth at fighting in the next greatest civil war of the century notches above his pay grade only viscerally begins to take hold.
He has a family back home, pets to feed, a little life saving every now and then; but never this colossal of a scale, never with the stakes stacked up so high against them, that it really could only ever be toppled down by the likes of fucking Iron Man and Captain America.
But Steve is still confident.
It’s so bloody obvious he was always going to keep at it, gunned down the concrete walls of the airport and clawed his way out of it brick by brick if need be. He was really and truly the good man underneath it all, and at the back of his mind, Scott still finds himself awed at the fact.
But he doesn’t know how on  earth  the man came out of that airport not visibly rattled, not at all unlike how Scott was currently feeling; and, as he processes the rest of their wayward expressions, he knew he wasn’t alone in thinking so.
“Cap,” Sam wheezes by the floor, fighting to labor his breathing with a hand clutched on his dislocated shoulder. “I still got the jeep parked outside. It’s not too late. We can hike the rest of the way.”
“No,” Steve replies, an edge of conviction in his voice. There is not a single tremor in his stubborn hands gripping the wheel. “That’s gonna hold us back days. We just need to be up in the air for now. We need—”
“A woman to come to your rescue again?”
This time, it’s Scott who sighs in deep relief at her voice. This time, Scott doesn’t fight the churn in his stomach at the prospect of having someone who nearly nicked him lifeless not even hours ago this close a range with them again. This time, she is not Black Widow, but simply Natasha Romanoff; Steve Rogers’ friend.
This time, Scott thinks, he will let them be easy just like that.
There was no more a sign of tremble in his voice or hands the entire battle, but at the lilt of her voice, he just crumbles.
“Nat,” Steve breathes out when he turns to her, hands fisting at his sides in an attempt to regain control. Just like that, he unravels; so easily and without preamble in the face of her steeled strength. “I can’t get it to turn on— And I— We have to get Bucky—”
“Work through it, Steve,” she cooes in probably the most placating voice he’s heard of her, but she doesn’t move to touch him when she comes close. Her hands are going a mile a minute over the control panel, pushing buttons and lifting levers. Steve is hovering by her side like it's the only thing holding him together. “You know how to fly this thing, right?”
Steve is visibly taken aback and angles his body to face her. “You’re not coming with us?”
The question hangs in the air.
It charges the silence around them and quells any of their growing uncertainty, because, clear as it was of Steve’s well-founded and undeniable leadership skills: they also knew, intimately, she anchored him through it all.
Sam was putting pressure around Bucky’s human arm as he looked back and forth at them tensely. He could feel Wanda hitch her breath behind him.
Natasha’s fingers keep flying away at the keyboard, until they feel the telling signs of an engine rumbling underneath and the overhead lights spurting back to light. The whole jet roars to life in the next second, heating fans whizzing and technical sounds beeping. She shifts some gears around and locks in a destination with the GPS navigation.
When she turns to look at Steve, it is then Scott forces himself to pry his eyes away and not bear witness to this part of his already over documented life. In that single moment of uncertainty, the what does that mean is meant like this: an intimate baring of a soul, heart, trust: in a way no words could ever begin describing or should even attempt to put to paper.
It is friendship at the most intimate level, it is soulmates on the most soul-crushing departure, and it is the everything else that comes after.
“Not this time, Rogers,” he hears her say, and Scott doesn’t have to imagine the slight fracturing of his iron-clad footing in the world swaying ever so slightly, when he replies with: “Then I guess I’ll see you around, Romanoff.” .
.
.
“So is she like,” Scott hesitates. “Cap’s first lady or something?”
They’re some seventy feet off the air above the Pacific Ocean, the moisture from the ocean drifting up to the open barracks and making the air glisten around them. Bucky is fast asleep somewhere down the lower levels with Wanda keeping watch over him, upon the fervent insistence of Steve arguing he needed rest. It came as no surprise that he also self-assigned himself the first watch of the night.
Sam is sharpening his knives, the grating sound of sandpaper slicing over iron piercing through the silent hum and drum of the night.
“Please,” he scoffs, looking over at him. “If anything, Steve is her first lady.”

Universal took Tremors from its creators after 30 years of work.
TL;DR After 25-30 years making the series, Brent Maddock, Michael Gross, Nancy Roberts, Ron Underwood and S.S. Wilson were kicked out so Universal Studios could make more money off the merchandising before the Tremors copyright expires in 2025.
*****MAJOR SPOILERS**** This will make you sad, angry and frustrated. But there is hope. #StampedeTremors
Soooooo, ever since I blew up and sidetracked a post about David Fincher's Queen Biopic with Sacha Baron Cohen as Freddie Mercury discussing the Tremors 7 ending, I've done some more research on the whole thing. The Graboid hole for this goes deep.
Michael Gross didn't want it.
“There’s a part of me that feels that Universal Home Entertainment might’ve had enough of Tremors. The suggestions that were made in the course of this [movie] made me think maybe they’ve had enough. They came to me and said, ‘What if we ended it at 7?’ and I said, ‘Whatever you choose to do, I’m good with that.'” “That being said, The door is still open for an eighth Tremors. It may seem unlikely by what people see on the screen, but it is possible. There could be an eighth. And if there were, and if it were an interesting story, I would be up for it because Burt is always a great deal of fun. It would depend on his physicality. How much they want me to do. If it’s in another two years, I’ll be 75 years old. So I will continue to hope and pray that I stay in shape, to do what is asked of me – if it is asked of me.”
AND Universal even killed off any ambiguity that he fought for.
"We shot it both ways, where everybody's mourning Burt, and he climbs up over the cliff and looks at all of them in mourning and goes, 'Jesus, God, I'm not dead. And he's really pissed off at them. It's like, 'How would you possibly think...?' But he's bloodied, just he's a mess. He looks like he's been through an earthquake, crushed by a house, but he's alive. And he says, 'You idiots. Of course, I'm alive.'" "They decided it just had this punch. Frankly, I thought to myself -- I didn't express it to them, but I thought to myself -- 'Maybe Universal's getting a little tired of this franchise.' Because this wasn't my idea." "I said, 'I can live with this. Because they came to me. They said, 'Look, you've been doing this so long. What do you think?' And I said, 'Well, as long as we kind of leave the door open.' I mean, I can kind of see an eighth film where it opens with Burt in a hospital bed, in a full body cast and saying, 'I survived.' He could hardly move a muscle. And maybe eight is...if I had a concept for eight, it would be Burt horribly injured, but in a motorized, weaponized wheelchair that has rocket mounts on the side and can leave an oil slick behind like James Bond's car. So nobody can chase him." "I always said, if Kevin Bacon or Fred [Ward] or Reba [McIntire] or anybody [wanted to return], I'd be there in a minute. Just because one, I love Burt, but I always thought of him as this guy kind of on the fringes, and I just came to the fore because everybody else walked away."

While Universal ignored how Michael Gross was setting up his son Travis Welker to pick up his torch (Which I'm give or take on Jamie Kennedy yet he brought a Grady-like optimism to the shittier of the series.)
"My reaction was disappointment, as I had planned an entire storyline around his participation."
Even Jamie Kennedy tried to but they wouldn't let him.
"Lot of people have been asking me, so I might as well spill it. I will NOT be in the upcoming TREMORS 7. I had a great time making the last two. But no TRAVIS this time around. But hey you neva’ know what can happen in the future.... have a great time boys! Tdawg out!!!"

After 7 movies and a TV show, nothing more than a spit in the face for the man who carried a franchise. Then when they do the montage at the end, we get clips of Hiram Gummer but NOTHING of Burt Gummer from the TV show. It's 13 episodes of Burt in Tremors that's longer than all the movies combined but yet they don't even include it in the ending montage while including his dead grandpa.
Same with the original creators. Did you know Stampede Entertainment (Brent Maddock, Nancy Roberts, Ron Underwood, and S.S. Wilson) were working on Tremors for 25 years and even had the 5th one written, "Thunder/Gummer Down Under".
Then were told to sit on it for 10 years before Universal eventually told them to eat dirt? That's gotta hurt. It hurts me and I'm not even connected to these movies. All that work down the drain just because of someone's say so. And for no reason. Well not exactly....
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Universal knows fans want Tremors merch. I mean, look at how they took #BurtGummerDay from @BabyFarkMcGeeZax. And they want ALLLLLL of that merchandising money. With none of it going to Stampede because it would give them leverage. Not to mention they don't want anyone else getting the idea to make cute monster toys before they can roll out their own line.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Don't believe me? See Universal pull some Hollywood Accounting with Tremors already.
Tumblr media
http://imgur.com/gallery/mFNIHV3
Half a billion dollars... completely untraceable. I've tried. Emailed the numbers people and they can't tell me anything unless you pay $50 a film to see the numbers. Which makes me ask, who paid for the numbers on 1,5, 6, & 7? And why only what they made? Not their cost. Same for the numbers on 2, 3, & 4. Why numbers on the cost, but nothing on what it made? It seems weirdly targeted to make it look like the Stampede Entertainment ones only cost money but made nothing.
Then when you find out that the copyright to Tremors will revert to its creators after the 35 year mark, which makes that date 2024-2025 since Tremors was filmed in '88-'89 but released in '90.....
Wellllllll some things start to add up. Especially when you consider it's Universal. They already know about owning copyrights for things long out of due. Ask Dracula, Frankenstein and the Wolfman. Or Nintendo when Universal tried to sue them because Donkey Kong was too similar to King Kong.
Ask Stampede (S.S. Wilson) yourself. They have a Question and Answer page right on their site.
Like did you know you can't find ANY official Tremors merch? But you CAN find tons of fan-made creations. Give it a Google. They don't even list Tremors on the Universal website. Go ahead. Ask them. I try weekly. No responses ever.
https://www.universalpictures.com/about
Even with a longer history, more money made, and amount of sequel potential in comparison to their other films?
http://imgur.com/gallery/ZnXEsI3
Fans are clamoring for more but Universal says no?
Hell, you can watch the TV show for free on the NBC site.
But before my investigating, the episodes were so jumbled and missing it would ruin people's enjoyment.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Tremors/comments/m0wvwu/tremors_episode_9_graboid_rights_is_back_on_nbc/
What about how they made a Tremors series pilot with Kevin Bacon? The only bad thing about it is that they need to pull a Sonic redo on the Graboid at the end but who knows, I suspect it's like that for plot reasons after reading the unaired script.
https://youtu.be/hWU3GpKmIvw
That Universal/NBC/SyFy has proceeded to hide deeper than a Graboid burrows. https://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/tremors-star-kevin-bacon-confused-sequel-series-picked/
Despite no one knowing why. http://imgur.com/gallery/w7rbUvZ
Read the script for yourself if you don't believe me. They've already hidden it for two years. Andrew Miller worked too hard for it to be hidden. And it plays. It works and plays with what's already there while being new and old. Quite good.
Have you seen the Kevin Bacon/Michael Gross commercial featuring them in Perfection Valley? The whole commercial is a sly way to use Tremors WITHOUT actually saying anything Universal would have claim to call copyright on. "Sandworms" "My old co-star" "Trevors". It's a great big middle finger to Universal.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=E_O0K9hmlrw
How about the original script for Tremors 2: Aftershocks. The creators have wanted it seen for 20 years but it took a crazy Larry like me to get it out there. It's got Val, Earl, Burt and Heather in it too. Pretty good too. So good they reused the ending in the TV show episode "Shriek and Destroy".
All these things swirl together and make me wonder more and more. For the plethora of Tremors fandom goes deeper than even me... Like Imgur user @BabyFarkMcGeeZax. They created Burt Gummer Day five years ago through sweat and love alone.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Tremors/comments/mb2rtz/babyfarkmcgeezax_created_burt_gummer_day_and/
Yet what does Universal do? Take the day, plaster it over the end of their hero's death, and not even give a line credit or thank you to @BabyFarkMcGeeZax or a mention on Twitter as they blurb it everywhere.

"A fortune", you say? Interesting....
So let's make Tremors 8 Ouroboros with the OG creators back on board.
https://imgur.com/gallery/o2kCFLu
We restart the TV show and end the movies for a while. Just like The Librarians. If Marvel can switch between movies and TV, Tremors can too.
If you think I'm crazy too, just see and know how I've been in this position before. I'm well aware of how this "story" plays out.
I mean, Tremors *does* foreshadows its ending with a sleeping bag. https://imgur.com/gallery/5HexQ
Notice too how you can find little Behind the Scenes for Tremors 5-7 despite a smorgasbord of material for 1-4 and both TV shows.

And it's not like Universal isn't known for shady business practices. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Pictures
What about how they own the rights to damn near every monster except for Godzilla. And not just the classics like Frankenstein, Dracula, the Wolfman, Mummy and Invisible Man. They have Kong, Hulk, Jaws, Michael Myers, The Thing, all the Jurassic Park dinos, all the Romero zombies, Chucky, Casper, Riddick beasts, Hellboy, and Jaegers/Kaiju. These dudes know merchandising rights and they're looking to score the next Poke'Mon franchise.

i just sat through all 2 hours 37 minutes of house of gucci and oh my god what the fuck was that
- i have literally no idea what tone this movie was going for, like 75% of it was dead serious and extremely boring but then you have the demon jared leto doing fucking fart jokes for like 10 uninterrupted minutes at a time. giving all the "funny moments" to one single character is a pretty shitty idea when said character is played by the talentless charisma vacuum jared leto, who has never been good at comedy in the past and will never be good at comedy in the future.
-the italian fake accents were such a bizarre choice...everyone accidentally dropped the accent mid sentence at some point and it just felt like such a waste of energy. this movie has the worst acting i have seen in any high budget drama, and it absolutely is because everyone's just trying to read their lines without losing the accent. if this movie had been a self-aware campy dark comedy, the accents would have been fun, but this is not a fun movie.
- you know how i feel about adam driver but he was the worst actor in the entire movie, and this is a movie also starring jared leto.
-I was expecting a fun villain performance by lady gaga but she's not given anything to do. we never get to see her coming up with a plan to kill her ex husband, she's just suddenly hiring a hitman out of nowhere at the very end of the movie.
-the murder happens in the last 2 minutes of the movie, and then it just skips past the entire aftermath and does that lame biopic trope where some text shows up on screen explaining what happened to the real life people in the movie. maybe I was wrong thinking that this was a movie specifically about the murder, but it absolutely is not.

Shuffling the player booklets in your hands beneath the coffee table, you laugh as your two best friends squabble with each other over the film that you’d all watched earlier. Chungha had thought it was great whereas Soyeon had been bored within ten minutes. Not even the combination of the ridiculously talented Christian Bale and...well...Matt Damon could gain her interest.
You kept quiet though, not wanting to gain Soyeon’s ire by pointing out that you very much enjoyed the film about the 1966 Le Mans car race. But you actually liked those kind of films. Biopic style films that is, not car films. They were actually one of your favourite genres to be honest.
Soyeon just dismissed them soundly as Oscar bait and she truly hated to sit there and watch them, much preferring to watch a comedy or romance. You would admit that most biopic films often ended up just looking like they were engineered specifically for the Oscars... but you still liked them. Spotlight was still your favourite best picture winner of the last ten years and you’d die on your hill to make sure people knew that.
Quickly dealing out the player cards, you wait for everyone to turn them over and see who they’re playing as. Chungha is the one to immediately whine, any arguments about the film forgotten as she begins pouting dramatically as she reveals her Dr Facilier character card while Soyeon punches the air in excitement as she reveals that she’d got Hades.
A quick glance at yours has you smiling, noting that Maleficent was always a fun character to play. Not exactly your favourite but she wasn’t as complicated as some characters. You glance over at Chungha with a smirk as you think that, knowing that she probably won’t win with him. Despite playing this game so many times, none of you still quite knew how to play him.
It felt nice to be with them both again though, the atmosphere playful and you felt yourself relaxing into happiness as you watch the two of them start to bicker quietly again to each other. With Hoseok spending so much time at yours nowadays, you often didn’t get to have your normal weekly board game night on Wednesday.
Any time you spend with your best friends had usually been spent going out shopping heading to the cinema. Somewhere that wasn’t home and involved you actually having to go out at the weekend because as much as you love being home, you didn’t want to spend your entire life indoors.
But tonight, Hoseok wasn’t here and you were desperate to play some board games, almost itching to do so. You knew that he’d seen your extensive board game collection but he hadn’t queried it too much so far. It was, strangely, one of the few things that hadn’t come up in conversation and you’d been enjoying your time with him too much to break out the games just yet.
You were going to ask him to play with you though, maybe a game of Villainous like today or something, a nice two-player game that would ease him in to your beloved hobby. He’d mostly been mildly curious so far, looking over the collection you’d amassed over the years before he’d casually commented that the only board game he’d ever played was Monopoly, which had you cringing.
Yes, you’d teach him. And hopefully he’d like it and would keep playing with you.
Tonight though, was for your best friends. You’d invited them over earlier in the day, texting them while at work and hoping they would both be free. They hadn’t been, with Chungha actually being set to go on a date with her new girlfriend, Dahyun, and Soyeon was supposed to have been going out with her work colleagues.
Friday nights were busy obviously, but they’d both dropped their plans immediately to get to spend some time with you. None of you had properly hung out for over two weeks now and you were just as desperate to see them, socialise with someone other than Hoseok.
Because as much as you liked him, you needed people outside of him.
Hoseok hadn’t actually been planning to go out with his own friends tonight, but you’d awkwardly told him that you’d invited Chungha and Soyeon to go to the cinema and that you’d all be coming back here for a game or two. He’d taken it well, probably happy that you were investing time with your friends as well as him, and had made the arrangements with his own friends for the night.
You’d also shyly, very incredibly shyly to the point you’d felt like you were dying, asked him if it was okay to tell them that you’d slept together. That first time, so awkward and shy yet oddly perfect in your mind, had been two weeks ago. Hoseok had joked a few days ago that he’d awoken a sex monster because you’d probably had more sex with him in these last two weeks than you’d had in a year in college.
Okay, you were exaggerating a little but you couldn’t keep your hands off him. You fantasize about him at work and dream about him at night. It’s just...the sex felt so damn good, the pleasure he gave you so overwhelming that once or twice you’d even ended up crying which had bewildered you both. Particularly as you’d yet to orgasm during the actual sex.
You were still a little shy about your body, not particularly liking being naked still despite it all but every time, you felt yourself open up to him a little more. The knowledge that he desired you was intoxicating and you just didn’t understand why it felt so...good with him?
Hoseok didn’t really know either. He was more than okay with all the sex he was suddenly getting, you imagined it probably felt a little like a week long rainstorm after a six year drought to him, but you could tell he wasn’t entirely okay with you not orgasming still.
It didn’t bother you at the moment, you refused to let it because if you let your mind grasp onto that then you knew that you’d never let it go and you’d probably never orgasm during sex. Hoseok was accepting it so far, acknowledging that you knew yourself best and content that it wasn’t upsetting you but you didn’t want him to become stressed over it.
He was being a very good boyfriend in that on more than one occasion, he’d gone down on you first and at least you an orgasm that way. But even the idea of actually getting there during actual sex was daunting at the moment.
Which is why you wanted to talk to the girls tonight, tell them what happened and whether it really was as normal to not orgasm as Hoseok said. You maintained that you were okay with the sex as it was so far, but you’d want to at least try soon.
But you hadn’t wanted to do something he wasn’t happy with, so you’d asked for permission first. Which he’d given with a big grin, eyes sparkling with mischief and happiness. You’d been surprised how easily he’d said yes, as you were unsure whether you wanted him to discuss your sex life with his own friends.
You felt a little selfish thinking like that, but he’d accepted it without question. Just like he always did. It was almost like he understood that you wouldn’t entirely feel comfortable having your problems with sex discussed so openly, particularly given how experienced all his friends were. And they knew all about the girls he’d slept with previously.
You just...couldn’t handle being judged by them like that.
“Hellooooo?” Chungha asks, waving her hand in front of your face. Jerking back, you realise that you’d been a little away with the fairies for the last few minutes and you mutter out an apology, quickly grabbing the character board they gave you along with the green Maleficent character token.
It only takes seconds for you to set up your play area, placing the special white fate deck to one side and your normal green deck to the other side. Taking four cards from your normal deck, you check out the cards you’ve drawn with pursed lips, mind already racing ahead as you try to contemplate what your moves will be along with what your friends moves will be.
Soyeon starts out, moving Hades and collecting some power tokens from the little plastic token cauldron that was placed in the centre of the table. And then her eyes narrow, lips pursing out as she taps her index finger against them. She’s plotting, glancing between your board and Chungha’s before she grins at you, pointing one beautifully painted red nail at you.
“I’ll have your fate cards miss…” Huffing and rolling your eyes in an over-exaggerated manner, you take two of the cards and pass them over to her, leaning back on your hands and waiting for her to decide between the two. She reads them over intently, chewing on her inner cheek before nodding and handing you one back.
And then you watch as she puts Aurora down on your board, covering the top two actions on the location you’re at. Immediately you whine, pouting at her childishly and she just giggles as Chungha takes her own turn.
Soyeon’s smiles turn into frowns though when Chungha repays the favour quickly, taking her fate cards and dealing her a blow to her efforts to win. Villainous always ends up with all three of you getting progressively more aggressive with your gaming until it’s almost like you’re going to come to blows. But none of you take it to heart...after all, it is a game in which the best villain tries to win.
The first game passes by surprisingly fast, all three of you desperately trying to stop each other from winning but you were on the other side of the table to them. Which meant they couldn’t see your board properly, and you proudly placed the final curse on the board that you needed to win, grinning broadly.
“I win!” You chuckle, the sound bright and happy as they both stare at you in a strange mix of exasperation, annoyance and petulance. They take it in their stride though, smiling and congratulating you as you all begin to tidy up the characters.
As they place those cards and pieces back into the boxes, you deal out new characters and set up the boards for the new game. This time, with it being the second game, you all start to chat more.
And inevitably, the conversation turns around to your relationship with one tattooed, pierced metalhead. You could tell that they were interested in hearing more about what was going on in your relationship because you didn’t tell them a huge amount. Thankfully, they were used to that, but you knew that they were insanely curious about the unbelievably sweet man who seemed to be far too nice to be real.
Although...they hadn’t seen how the man seemed incapable of turning off the damn lights after himself. More than once you’d got frustrated at that, though he was getting better at it.
“So...you and Hoseok good?” Soyeon asks lightly, her voice doing that whole fake innocent thing that people do when they’re asking a question that they really want to know the answer to but don’t want to sound like they’re too desperate. Or nosy.
But Soyeon is definitely nosy, and you simply smile at her from above your card hand, currently pressed to your mouth.
You don’t act too coy though because honestly, you’ve been wondering how to get the conversation moving in that direction for a while. One thing you’ve never managed to do is be subtle in your conversations, as Hoseok had discovered, and it’d be obvious that you wanted them to ask about your relationship.
Which would just seem to be big headed in your opinion.
And yet despite wanting to talk about exactly this, you suddenly find yourself extremely shy about it. Slightly odd, you note to yourself, because originally you’d been shy around Hoseok and discussing it with your best friends without too much concern but now you feel shy talking about him with them and had plenty of conversations with ease with him.
Still though, you play with the cards in your hand, grateful to have something to distract your restless limbs with for a few moments. Chungha lets out a quiet sigh, taking a drink from the elegant wine glass you kept in the cupboards just for them before letting her chin rest on her hand.
“He’s treating you good right? I will kick his ass if he’s not. He knows that, right?” Her serious tone makes you snort with laughter, nodding slightly.
“Yes, he’s aware. It’s just...it’s still weird to me that we’re talking about me and not...either of you. When was the last time I dated someone for this long? Or even just dated!” At that point, you’re more rambling to yourself as your eyes widen and you gesture wildly.
The two women looked at each other for a moment before Soyeon makes her move in the game, shifting her character into a different location and quickly doing all the actions available to her.
“It’s slightly odd yes...I mean, I think this is the first time in years that you’re not immediately available do things with on a weekend. Or that you’ve missed board games night for consecutive weeks now. But I’m pretty sure we’re okay with that because oh...my god. You look so happy.” She smiles, pressing her hands to her chest and Chungha grins, nodding excitedly.
It makes you feel bashful, lowering your head to avoid their glances and you hear them both let out breathy laughs.
“Oh come on, you are! I mean...sure you don’t talk about him all the time but I’m not surprised by that. You’ve never been the kind of person to become obsessed about someone else. But it’s just...in the way you just look relaxed and content. The little hints that he spends a lot of time here like the toothbrush in the bathroom.”
“Or the extra shoes and coat in the hallway.”
“And the men’s razor and deodorant. Plus the beer in your fridge. You actually have beer!” Soyeon says, eyes widening as she lifts up the long neck bottle in her hands. Sure enough, it’s one of Hoseok’s that you buy at the supermarket whenever you go to fill up your shelves. He never asked you to buy it, but you’d noticed that it seemed to be his favourite as he drank it the most.
So it found its way into your shopping trolley every week, along with his favourite cereal and a few other snacks he seemed to enjoy the most. You weren’t sure that he’d noticed that they suddenly seemed to populate your kitchen when before they hadn’t but you didn’t want to make a big deal of it.
Apparently though, that hadn’t gone unnoticed by these two.
“He’s just being comfortable. There’s nothing wrong with that. I want him to feel...well comfortable here.” You protest weakly, taking your own turn quietly before waiting once more. Neither of them say anything for a moment and another two turns pass by before one of them speaks again.
“There’s nothing with it, you’re right. We’re happy for you. We were just a little worried that maybe you weren’t entirely okay with him being over all the time. We both know how much you like your personal space after a while and how tired you get from being social.” Chungha says, her fingers running along the worn edge of the table while you detect a note of apprehension in her voice.
You feel warmth and happiness at their concern for you though, knowing that they just want to make sure you’re happy and that you haven’t been forced into something you didn’t like. Exactly like best friends should be like, even if they were ecstatic that you’d found someone like Hoseok.
Shaking your head, you smile at them both brightly as your eyes focus on the cards in front of you. “No, it’s...it’s nothing like that. I kept going to his at first but then he came to mine and...well...you know I prefer being here than anywhere else. So...I kept inviting him over and he seems to like it better here so...yeah. It just kind of...happened?”
Pausing, you bite your lip as nervous butterflies flutter in your stomach while your shoulders shrug.
“I...well...he doesn’t spend all his time here. And like...he’s out with his friends tonight so he’ll probably go back to his place but...I actually like him being here? I don’t feel...drained with him? Like, if I get a bit moody or feel like I need some time to myself then I just go to the bedroom and like, read or something. It works for me and he’s fine with it. I just...I don’t know, it’s weird. I actually don’t really like it when he’s not here,” Pausing for a moment, you frown slightly as you consider that. “I miss him when he’s not here.”
Your words have your best friends practically squealing with delight, both of them vibrating in their places on the floor with ridiculously big grins on their faces.
“Oh my goddd! You’re both so cute together! I’m so happy,” Chungha squeaks, wiggling with her hands fisted tightly and an absurdly happy smile that makes her eyes crinkle prettily. “Seriously, you don’t know how happy I am for you. To see you smiling and laughing while talking about a guy, telling us you’re so comfortable with him that you actually want him here!”
Suddenly, she looks a little teary and you frown, wondering what’s wrong. Soyeon sees it too and smiles, rubbing at Chungha’s shoulders before looking over at you.
“We just...worried about you for a while. Especially when you’d tell us how much you wanted something with someone and to see you finally get it...with someone like Hoseok too. You really hit the boyfriend lottery there, holy shit. He’s so good for you, from what you’ve said and what we’ve seen of him so far. We’re just...so happy that you’re happy!” And now you’re crying, your eyes filling with hot tears that make your eyes sting as your lip trembles.
Looking away from them both, you steadfastly try to stop them from falling. You hate crying, even in front of your best friends. But hearing how genuinely ecstatic they are to know that you’re not only happy but flourishing with Hoseok hits all the insecure parts within you. All the parts that had been convinced for a long time that you’d never find anyone, that no one would ever find you attractive or ever enjoy your personality.
You still didn’t understand why Hoseok wanted you when he could have someone so much better. Why he wanted someone who’s stomach wasn’t firm but a little soft, whose hips were perhaps a little more rounder and ass a bit bigger than you would like. Someone who wasn’t an anxious wreck all the time, who was more outgoing, who wasn’t as blunt and so much more.
But he’d chosen you. He spent time texting you, coming to your house and spending so much time with you and so much more. It was confusing to you, but at the same time you wanted to grip onto him so hard that he couldn’t get away.
“I’m happy.” You get out, voice a little strained and you cough hard to try and push away the emotions. And you want to steer the conversation away from anything too emotional, which is why you turn the topic to sex.
Bizarrely, you feel more comfortable with the idea of talking about sex with them than your innermost emotions. Maybe because you probably won’t burst into tears at your insane feelings of negativity that often swirl inside you.
“Erm...we…I mean...Hoseok and I...he...you know? Went down...on me. A few times actually. And err...two weeks ago we...you know.” Brows rising, you widen your eyes to emphasise what you’re saying and you watch in slight amusement as both of their faces change from being emotional to being shocked and excited.
“Oh...my god. You had that man go down on you? Holy fuck, was it good? Does his tongue piercing actually make a difference?” Soyeon bursts out, the words staccato as she practically spits them out, leaning against the table. Idly, you notice that your game has been near enough abandoned.
Still, her words send the visual image of Hoseok’s head between your legs slamming into your mind. You can almost feel his tongue against you, so hot and warm and wet. Squeezing your thighs, you try to hide the fact that you’d gotten turned on. And that said nothing for the next image that slid through your mind...Hoseok on top of you, his body solid and his breathing hard, deep groans as he slid in and out of you rhythmically.
Eyes widening, you swallow thickly and reach out to take a drink of your water. Chungha eyes you for a moment before snorting, evidently knowing what you’re thinking of even if she can’t be sure of the exact thoughts. But still, you go ahead to answer Soyeon.
“Yeah he...err...I wasn’t too sure because you know...I’ve never had anyone do that. But he sweet about it, pretty patient. I mean he’s always patient, he has the patience of a saint or something. And...err,” You feel yourself heat up in slight embarrassment. “Yeah...it was...really good. He, erm, he made me...you know.”
“Orgasm?” Soyeon grins and you sigh deeply, looking down and shaking your head in sudden amusement.
“You know...that’s the third time that’s happened.” That gets a confused look from the both of them and you inhale deeply, calming yourself as you decide to just say it. They’ve already freaked out once over just oral, finding out you had actual sex was going to blow their minds.
“Hoseok said...literally the same thing the other week when I got shy. We err...were talking about sex. And then we...did it.” You can tell that they both don’t quite realise at first, their faces blank. And then the realisation clicks and their jaws drop.
“Oh my god...oh my god! You...you’ve had sex with him? GIRL, WHY HAVE...you’ve just been sitting on this? I...oh my god, CHUNGHA, SHE’S FUCKED JUNG HOSEOK!” Soyeon practically screams, grabbing a hold of the other woman’s shoulders and shaking her violently before grabbing the BB-8 cushion off the couch behind her and punching it. You protest at that but it goes unnoticed because Chungha is squealing with excitement too.
“Holy shit, oh god...please tell us it was good!” She knocked over her character token by accident but none of you noticed, too busy being overly excited at your sudden sex life. Your sex life, what a strange thought.
Nodding shyly, you try to bite your lip to stop your smile but it doesn’t work, not when they both screech even louder. Anyone would think that they’d had sex with him, not you. But you knew they were so excited. Because even when you’d been in college, they’d known that you weren’t exactly underestanding why everyone raved about sex.
And now here you were, being all bashful about it and evidently having enjoyed it.
“It was...good. Really good. I mean...I didn’t...orgasm-” Before you can even get anything else out, Soyeon is interrupting with an outraged look.
“I’m sorry...a man that looks like that with his kind of track record in bed didn’t make you cum?” It’s Chungha who holds out a calming hand this time, giving her a placating look which basically told her to ‘chill the fuck out’.
“Don’t blame him! It’s not his fault,” You say sternly, surprising all of you with how strong and steady your voice is in your defence of your boyfriend. “I told him not to bother trying. Because...I’ve never even got close during actual sex and...I was a bit anxious anyway obviously. And I was worried that I’d get too stressed or upset if nothing was happening and he was trying to make something happen which just wasn’t going to happen so...I told him not to even try. I just...wanted to...you know...enjoy it with him. It was our first time you know?”
“How did he take that?” Chungha asks before Soyeon can interrupt and you give her a grateful smile, appreciating her calm nature. It seems to affect Soyeon, who quietens down and straightens up her game.
“I mean...he wasn’t like, too happy that I wasn’t going to...orgasm or even try. But...I mean...he agreed. I could tell he wasn’t entirely pleased with that during it but he listened to me. And he was so nice and attentive to me, gave me this whole system to use so that if I felt unhappy or uncomfortable then we would stop. Honestly, don’t get mad he didn’t try, that was on me. I don’t regret it either...I...I mean...we’ve done it again since and I asked for the same and...I really liked it. Maybe it’s because he’s actually paying attention to me or like...caring about me or maybe it’s just because he knows what he’s doing. But...it felt really good...even without an orgasm.” You glance down at your hands, smile bashful on your face as you think back on all the moments.
They had all been hot, obviously, but he’d been very careful with you every time. Even though you hadn’t orgasmed, you’d never felt so comfortable during sex with someone and you’d feel forever grateful to Hoseok for taking the time to make you okay with it all.
“I think I finally understand why people like doing it so much...even though I didn’t get any like...ultimate pleasure or anything...I still want to do it with him again. And again.” Your words go so soft and quiet as you finish off, getting very shy out of nowhere.
Suddenly, despite wanting to talk to them and get advice, you don’t want them to know about those intimate moments with him. Because they were for him, not anyone else. The part of you that you’d kept locked inside for so long was slowly being brought out and it was for him.
“I er...I know I brought this up but erm...I don’t...I don’t think I want to talk about it anymore. I just...this is...it’s erm...our thing. And I think I’m going to work it out with him. I don’t...I don’t know, I’m being silly right? Or stupid? I just...I mean...he’s trying really hard and he’s going so slow. I just...if you tell me like...advice and stuff then I might get too stressed trying to do it and if I can’t do it then I’ll think there’s something wrong with me. So...we’ll work it out. Just...it’s good...it’s better than I thought it was gonna be and he’s really amazing with it. Please don’t think he’s being bad or mean or anything. Seriously he’s...yeah.”
The two of them don’t look offended at your sudden interruption into the conversation and you feel intense relief when they just nod with gentle smiles. You should’ve known that they wouldn’t be bothered about it but you got too into your own head sometimes. It was hard to believe other people didn’t think too hard about stuff when you would spend minutes analysing a single word.
“Hey, that’s fine. You do what you’re comfortable with, okay? That’s what we’ve always said in our friendship right? Don’t stress yourself out for us.” Soyeon said, reaching over the table to grasp at your hand with a supportive smile. Her long brown hair falls forward over her shoulder, curtaining her board from your vision and you simply smile in response.
Chungha grins, wrapping an arm around Soyeon’s shoulder and laughing loudly. “You big mush. This is because you’re due on next week isn’t it?”
Surprisingly, Soyeon just nods and shrugs which causes you both to laugh. You both relate to her, the week before your period was often a russian roulette of symptoms which ranged from back ache to bloating to bad moods to stiff joints. Thankfully, you’d been on the pill for years now and so the more extreme symptoms had abated over time but Soyeon unfortunately always suffered from mood swings leading up to it.
“Thank you...both. Seriously. For...everything, you know.” They both stare at you before smirking, looking back down at the game that you’d all abandoned. Taking another drink of water, you feel your nerves calm down as the conversation moves away from something that had your blood racing.
And not just because it reminded you of pleasurable times.
“Well...we’ve still got a game to finish. And I’m gonna win this time.” With that, you all delve back deep into the game and start trying to do your best to fuck each other over enough to enable you to win. It’s with a deep whine that you lose again, causing you to pout childishly while Chungha wiggles in her little victory dance.
The sudden knock on the door causes you all to jerk in surprise though, pulling you out of setting up the new game. Kasumi who had been curled up asleep on her cat tree sat up with blue jewelled eyes wide and alert. Cooing to her, you reach over and run a hand over her soft head before looking in confusion at the tiny hallway.
“Is that Hoseok?” Soyeon asks, her own brow furrowed as she looks over the door too, her new character’s deck in her hand. Slowly, your head shakes in the negative as you stand and begin to move over.
“No...I mean...I don’t think so. It’s only 11pm, he normally stays out way later than this. And I thought he’d just go back to his place after.” But maybe he hadn’t, maybe he’d come over to yours instead. You’d never experienced drunk Hoseok before, only slightly tipsy.
Opening the door as far as the chain would allow, your eyes widen as you take in the sight of your boyfriend. He’s stood looking down at his phone, hair its usual messy after a whole day of running his hands through it while he’s just got on a plain black shirt tonight, covered by his favourite leather jacket.
Unlocking it properly, you open the door wide and look at him confused, arms crossing over your chest as he finally notices and gives you a big smile. His eyes are ever so slightly glazed but he’s not swaying on his feet, so you don’t think he’s drunk.
“Hey baby.” He says, voice completely steady and not even slightly slurred. Suddenly though, he frowns, hands coming up to cup your face. “Are you okay? You’ve been crying.”
Trust him to recognise that immediately. Though, you’d be lying if you said it didn’t make your heart warm that he’d noticed even while tipsy. You shake your head at him though, giving him a gentle smile and telling it’s nothing.
He eyes you carefully for a moment before leaning forward and pressing a kiss to your lips. His breath and lips smell of alcohol but he seems fine as he moves past you, kicking off his shoes and shrugging off his jacket.
Heading back into the living room, you sit back down at the table on the floor and look back at him as he walks in. You’re suddenly incredibly aware of how small your apartment is with four people in it, particularly when Hoseok takes up so much space on his own given how big he is compared to everyone else.
Plus, he’s always your spot of darkness in an overly cute apartment.
Soyeon and Chungha greet him kindly, fully eyeing him without a care in the world. You’d warned him long ago that they were much bolder and open than you were and he’d just laughed, taking it in his stride. He was used to big personalities with his own friends after all.
“I thought you’d still be out?” You ask, picking up your deck once more and looking at the girls. They gesture to your board, indicating that it’s your turn and you hum lightly, moving your piece before beginning to go through the actions available to you.
“Yeah but...I got tired. I got called in early this morning and then they sent me to our other site which is like...a two hour drive away. Which would’ve been fine, but I was only there for half an hour and then had to drive all the way back. So I’m just tired and I want to go to sleep.” Hoseok has the slightest hint of a whine in his voice and you smother the smile that wants to spread at it.
Despite his big and scary looks, he was a huge softie who particularly liked being coddled apparently. Something you’d never guess looking at all those tattoos and piercings.
“Okay, but I thought you’d go back to yours tonight?” You’re aware suddenly that you sound more cold than you intend to, so you look at him and give him a smile to let him know that you’re not annoyed or anything. He smiles back, suddenly looking a lot less unsure of himself.
“No...I just...I forgot you’d both come over, I’m sorry,” Hoseok apologies to your best friends, giving an apologetic look which they wave off graciously. “I wanted to sleep here tonight.”
That sentence is said a little quieter than before and your stomach squeezes tightly before erupting into a flurry of tiny butterflies which batter themselves at your sides incessantly. He’d wanted to come to yours and sleep next to you tonight, that’s what he was saying but didn’t want to actually say in front of your friends.
Whether it was because he was embarrassed to say it or he didn’t want you to get embarrassed, you knew what he was really saying. Because you felt the same way when he wasn’t there in the bed with you nowadays.
You missed him, and he obviously missed sleeping next to you. He’d stayed at his place last night and you’d reconciled yourself to another night on your own. But he’d gotten a little tipsy and apparently just wanted to come to you.
“That’s fine, but we just started another game so I’m not going to be going to bed for a while yet.” A rarity really, because you always slept earlier than him.
“We can go if you want?” Chungha says politely, gesturing to the door and Soyeon nods as well, neither of them looking like they want to interrupt the two lovebirds. But immediately Hoseok is shaking his head, holding his hands out in a placating gesture.
“No, no! Please don’t. Finish your game, it’s fine. I’m just gonna go shower then go straight to bed, I’m too tired to stay up. It’s okay.” He smiles, moving over to you and crouching down to give you another quick kiss before standing back up, his knees cracking loudly.
“I’ll probably see you tomorrow.” Letting out a chuffed laugh, you nod with amusement and grin even bigger when he leans down and kisses your forehead sweetly. “Night then.”
Hoseok says goodnight to the girls politely, not noticing the awed faces they both have on and once he’s turned around, you gesture at them to stop it. The poor guy’s going to get a complex if they keep it up.
As per usual, Hoseok showers at the speed of light and in less than ten minutes he’s already back out, freshly clean in his sleep wear. A final goodbye to you is given along with an overly exaggerated flying kiss which makes you squirm in embarrassment and just causes him to laugh happily.
The bedroom door doesn’t close all the way behind him, you never close it because of Kasumi and sure enough, there’s a tiny little chirp to your right. Looking over, you grin as Kasumi stretches, her back arching and tail fluffing itself up before she hops down from where she’d been resting all evening.
Brushing herself against you, she gives a soft purr of happiness before letting out a little mewl. There’s a brief moment to acknowledge Chungha and Soyeon, each giving her the requisite pats that cats deserve before she walks elegantly to the bedroom door and disappears inside.
Looking back at you, the girls give you a bemused smile and you shrug exasperatedly, a half smile playing on your lips.
“In case you hadn’t noticed, Kasumi loves Hoseok. She spends more time sleeping on him than she does me.”
“Okay but like...that’s adorable.” Soyeon points out and you just nod your head in response, watching as Chungha finally takes her turn after the interruption that had distracted you all.
“Yep, it is. But what’s even cuter is seeing how a teeny little fluffball managed to completely win over the big, tattooed metalhead. She’s got him exactly where she wants him and I think she might be at least a quarter of the reasons he comes over so much.”
“The other three quarters is obviously the fine beer.” Lifting up her beer bottle, Soyeon smirks before swallowing the final frothy liquid inside as you give her a nod, the smile on your face taking away any sarcasm you might be going for.
“That’s exactly it.”

I’m not sure if you’ve answered this question before so apologies if you have! What’s the best movie you’ve seen?
anon this is such a nice ask thank you so much! the way I categorize movies is weird because there’s “best movie I’ve ever seen” like it’s the best technically and it’s written really well and it talks about important subjects and all that jazz, and then there’s “best movie I’ve ever seen” like it makes me feel good and I can look past any flaws because I just love it so much. So technically the best movie I’ve ever seen is Sorry to Bother You or Moonlight or Malcolm X or Get Out, which actually I’m planning to rewatch all of those soon bc Black History Month. StBY this really excellent allegorical critique of racial capitalism, and the layers of it are super interesting and weird and cool and the camera work and lighting and writing and acting are *amazing* and TESSA THOMPSON’S IN IT. And then I’m sure you’ve at least heard of Moonlight, but I know so many people who have *heard* of Moonlight and celebrated it winning the Oscar for best picture but haven’t actually watched it, or don’t think about it anymore, and honestly I really hate that. So, if you haven’t seen it, it’s a wonderful film, the acting and direction and writing is absolutely spectacular, and I’m honestly crying just thinking about it. Also, JANELLE MONAE’S IN IT. And then there’s Malcolm X, which honestly, all biopics should aspire to be that good. Spike Lee definitely has a style and sometimes that style gets to be a lot, but in this movie it actually works really well and draws you in. I’ll be honest about halfway through I just forgot I was watching a movie at all, and when the credits started rolling I couldn’t even process that Angela Bassett had been playing Betty Shabazz and that I hadn’t just been watching Betty Shabazz. If you’ve never seen Angela Bassett in anything but Black Panther, do yourself a favor, and watch Malcolm X.
Speaking of, honorable mentions to Black Panther, Waves, and Frida. I remember seeing Black Panther in theaters with my white cishet dude nerd friend and feeling like I had just been transported to another plane, and I looked over at him and asked him what he thought and he was like “yeah it was good.” And then we saw Infinity War a month later and he was like HOLY CRAP THAT WAS AMAZING. I and every other Black person I know except for my little sister saw Black Panther when it came out (even my mom, who hates movies) and it was just so affirming to see a cool big budget film from a franchise that I’ve been following since I was a kid release a movie that went beyond being a “race film” while still talking about issues that affect Black folks everywhere in a meaningful way. My brother made me watch Waves a few months ago (but I didn’t mind bc I will watch literally everything Sterling K. Brown is in) and it was technically beautiful and I loved it a lot, but also it was so violent and terrifying and I actually cannot watch it again for my own health so. Watch it at least once, if you’re the type of person who can rewatch Parasite then you’re the type of person who can watch this movie and be fine, I just can’t deal with violence like that. And Frida I had been meaning to watch and I finally sat down and did it like two months ago and it was absolutely fabulous. The director did a really good job blending the surrealistic elements with the more realistic ones, the acting was stellar, the story was told in such a moving way, cannot recommend enough.
As for movies that bring me enough comfort and joy that I overlook their flaws--Birds of Prey, 27 Dresses, Mamma Mia, The Devil Wears Prada, Legally Blonde, Brooklyn, What a Girl Wants, and Sydney White. This is not to say that any of these movies are bad (although the Amanda Bynes ones are bad, that’s just a fact). What I’m saying is this is what I watch for fun, when I want to turn my brain off. And that might seem weird if you know anything about Brooklyn bc it’s very much an Oscar bait prestige picture, but I’ve seen it like ten times at this point, I get the point, honestly I can’t even tell you why I like that movie so much but it’s the only movie I’ve ever watched twice in the same day, like I literally finished the movie and started it over in that moment, and I don’t understand why. What a Girl Wants, Sydney White, Legally Blonde, and most recently Birds of Prey are my breakup/romantic disappointment movies, as in I put them in the rotation when I get dumped or stood up or rejected. Birds of Prey and Legally Blonde are of course actually good movies that make me feel more confident and better about myself, hence why I like them and put them in the rotation when I’m at my lowest, and the Amanda Bynes movies are there because they remind me of happier times in my childhood (and in the case of What A Girl Wants, Colin Firth is there). Mamma Mia and The Devil Wears Prada are there mostly because I love Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried and Anne Hathaway (but mostly Meryl) and they are just excellent feel good films (also the cerulean scene? I die every time). And 27 Dresses is my favorite rom com of all time, because I relate to Jane and yes that does concern me, and it falls in the Brooklyn category of frequent rewatches (though not *quite* as frequently)

ooh eiffel sounds cool!! so it's a biopic then? I love those. I am excited for the eternals (I know I'm basic lol) because I am sooo excited to see where this new phase of the mcu is going. do you like marvel? if you could live in one cinematic universe, which one would it be? 💌🥰
Hi again!👋 I hope you've had a nice week! Do you have plans for Halloween?🎃
Not a biopic exactly, because it's only loosely based on Eiffel's life (they added a lot of the romance in). I'm not complaining though, it worked really well! Plus, the love story was just very compelling, both beautiful and heart-breaking, the movie wouldn't have been the same without it. What biopics would you recommend?😊
I know very little about Marvel, I haven't seen any of the movies and I've followed things from (very) far away! But I'd love to know more! What is exciting about this new phase? ^^ Do they bring new superheroes in the story? (I've heard something about Harry Styles being chosen as a Marvel actor, but it sounded a bit wild and I never checked if that info was true or not!)
I'm not sure if it counts as a cinematic universe, but I'd love to live in Middle Earth! I'm not a Tolkien fan (as in, I've seen the LOTR movies a *lot* but I haven't read the Silmarillion) but I just love the atmosphere of this universe, I think it'd be fascinating to explore the ruins and the different landscapes there! Do you like Lord of the Rings (if so, do you have a favourite character?)?😄
Apart from movies (and, obviously, music xD), what do you like? Do you have any passions (or hobbies)? ^^

hi💕 do you have recommendations of any books/documentaries/ etc about brian jones?
Hi, thank you for sending me an ask. It’s really sweet and I appreciate it. Also sorry I didn’t answer this last night I was busy with family.
There are a lot of interesting books/documentaries/etc. about Brian but there are also a lot of... not so good ones. I’ve only seen/read so much so I will apologize for that now. I am putting this under a read more because this is kind of long.
Documentaries:
- Rolling Stone: Life and Death of Brian Jones (The definitive documentary on Brian but does primarily focus on his death and there is a whole bit that focuses a little too heavily on his weight gain in late ‘68-’69 that is so out of nowhere an unnecessary that, for some reason, bothers me really bad.)
- One Plus One aka Sympathy for the Devil (A Godard film shot in ‘68 about the recording process behind the song ‘Sympathy for the Devil’. However that is only one half of the film and the other is very typical Godard if you have seen any of his films. But Brian is in it, dressed super nice, and you can see how much he really did for that song since his contributions were heavily mixed out.)
- The Quiet One (Sorry for suggesting the Bill Wyman documentary but there is quite a bit of footage of Brian and Wyman really did care and love Brian and you can tell from how he talks about him. The documentary is also in chronological order so once he is done talking about the 60′s you can turn it off.)
- Crossfire Hurricane (I have not seen this but it is the iconic Rolling Stones documentary that focuses on the 60′s and 70′s so yeah I presume it talks quite a lot about Brian.)
Books:
- Who Killed Christopher Robin?: The Truth Behind the Murder of a Rolling Stone (I have so many issues with this book but it is one of the more well known books on Brian and it is filled with lots of pictures.)
- The Last Decadent (More of a psychological study on Brian while comparing him to historical figures like Oscar Wilde and such. It’s interesting and focuses heavily on his fashion, his issues with his mental health, and his bisexuality. Honestly my personal favorite book about him because it’s such an oddly fun read... until the end, obviously.)
- Brian Jones the Inside Story of the Original Rolling Stone (The controversial book I keep posting on here. It’s pretty much just the author, who claims to have known Brian from ‘65-’69 and just talking about the relationship he shared with Brian. Heavily focuses on his bisexuality, musical talents, and kind of shows just how catty he was. It’s a very over-romanticized view of Brian but I personally don’t care.)
Here are other books that I have not read so I can not attest to them but I do plan on getting the first one I have listed.
Paint It Black: The Murder of Brian Jones, Sympathy for the Devil: The Birth of the Rolling Stones and the Death of Brian Jones, Brian Jones: The Making of the Rolling Stones, Brian Jones: The Untold Life and Mysterious Death of a Rock Legend, and The Murder of Brian Jones.
There is also Up and Down with the Rolling Stones that’s about the Stones in general (and that I also plan on reading eventually).
Etc.:
- Monterey Pop (He is in this for like 2 seconds but the extended Jimi Hendrix performance, that is also available on dvd, Brian introduces The Jimi Hendrix Experience on stage.)
- The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus (Brian’s final performance. Controversially I will say The Rolling Stones aren’t terrible like everyone acts. I absolutely love those live versions of ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash’ and ‘You Can’t Always Get What You Want’.)
- Stoned (The god awful garbage biopic on Brian that just showcases him as a pathetic, asshole abuser who can’t keep away from drugs for more than ten seconds. Worth the watch just to make fun of how bad it is.)
- Performance (I am including this because everything states how Mick Jagger’s character ‘Turner’ is based on Brian and honestly you can tell. Mick does such a good Brian impression and fashion-wise the outfits are very Brian Jones-ish. It is still a fictional film and Brian was just an inspiration but it is one of my favorite films so I thought I would just mention it.)
I hope this was at least semi-helpful anon 💖
