And here we go. For the full experience I would recommend reading while listening to THIS SONG. It inspired a vast majority of the scene as well as the timing, though I fear you'd have to read pretty fast to get to the ending at the same time as the song ends, so uh... good luck! Trigger warnings below:

The Day the Sky Bled Red
BEGINNING || PREVIOUS || NEXT (SOON) MASTER POST
Whew. I'm so glad to finally be done with these big updates. After over a year I will finally be able to return to my smaller update format.
Some keen viewers might notice the reuse of certain shots from the series. There is very much intentional, though the reason for this will not be made clear until the ending of the arc.
As of the final shot we are FINALLY back to present-day in the Replica timeline (if it wasn't obvious). I'd drop in a timeline for reference but uh... I maxed out on the Tumblr images. Oh well. Hopefully the context clues were enough to help though!
I do want to take a moment to TED Talk about Raph's ninpo, if that's alright. Unlike his brothers, Raph didn't really spend much time trying to come up with unique ways of using his abilities. Why improve what already worked for him? However, I do think one interesting ability could have come naturally to him over time. I always found his way of mentally connecting with his brothers as "Mind Raph" to be a fascinating joke in the series. They way he could help and communicate with his brothers is something that was always really important to him and I see that ability bleeding into his ninpo. Because of this I feel that his Raph clones were always able to find and reach his brothers no matter the distance. His ability to interact with them at the same time was something he was still learning in the series, like when Mind Raph apologized to Leo for taking a moment too long to respond because he was busy helping someone else. Because of this I see his clones being able to react and communicate independently (kind of like Naruto clones), but are in constant connection to the original source, Raph himself. This made it really easy for Raph to relay information to the brothers, though it was seldom needed since Donnie's ninpo tech normally had that covered. On another note, I also wanted to make a point that whenever one of the brothers died in the bad future timeline, it was when they were separated from their brothers. I always liked in the movie how it wasn't until the brothers worked together that they were able to regain their abilities, confront the Krang, and even open portals to different dimensions. I wanted that lesson to resonate in Replica as well, even if subtly. Anyways, thanks for coming to my TED Talk!
The rest of the arc will be a lot less action, but still plenty more emotions. I can't promise that we won't be doing more flashbacks in the future but nothing to the extent of the "Holiday Special." We got a story to get through after all!
Thank you so much everyone for your patience with me as I slowly inch my way through this big story. It means a lot to me! I promise the next update will not be so emotionally draining.

[ I've seen how Caleb is often described to be a sex god without any experience at every first time (and I eat it up) but I also think we should discuss the other side of it. Kinda of an addition to my previous post ]
Let's discuss virgin Caleb that since he hit puberty has been struggling with his own desires and when he finally received the green light from you it's like a dam was unleashed.
This man is BEYOND sensitive. And so damn needy too, to the point that greedy would be a much more suitable word for him.
He started having wet dreams about you after the first kiss and the walk of shame to the bathroom every morning to wash his boxers is very real.
He's got a leaking and painful boner every time you kiss him for a little too long and he can't get enough of the taste of your tongue on his.
Having you on his lap is both bliss and torture. He'd try to hide the fact he's hard the first few times, not wanting to scare or pressure you, but each time your hips pressed down against his boner he'd be rolling his eyes back into his head and forcing down a groan.
I'm a dry-humping truther and I firmly believe the first time he came with you was by rubbing himself against your leg like the dog he is while you two were making out.
Caleb is mortified about his first experience with a blow job and he wishes you'd forget such an embarrassing moment of him.
But in all honesty, it wasn't his fault. You offered out of nowhere, which left him no time to mentally prepare, and just by having you kneeling down in front of him with your hand wrapped around his cock had him gripping the edge of the desk behind him, to the point the wood creaked at the sheer pressure.
And when you licked along the precum that was dripping down his length and pushed your tongue against his swollen tip he came and he came hard. His cum coating your face, getting onto some parts of your hair and in your mouth.
It goes without saying that he spent the rest of the day apologizing, but the sight of you swallowing his cum that had gotten onto your lips made him dizzy and hard again.
I'm sure he'll be fantastic in bed eventually, but your first time is a mess. Literally. Caleb is so eager to explore the body he's desired for so long and to please you as much as you do to him.
Everywhere he can reach is littered with dark and very obvious hickeys.
He'd have your hands pinned next or above your head so you couldn't touch him otherwise he knows he won't last at all.
Though, all his efforts bear no fruit because the second this man bottoms out inside of your warm and tight insides he is cumming again.
His body would tremble as he held his entire weight on his forearms to not crush you and he bit down on his lips.
After switching condoms, you'd have to get on top while his shaky legs recover from his orgasm and oh gods he's really trying his fucking best right now.
He's panting against your neck when you roll your hips and cause a loud moan to escape his lips, followed by his strong arms wrapping around your middle like a bear hug as if to keep himself grounded. It's rather cute, really.
He'd come with you this time, if not a little before from you clenching around his cock and the sweet whimpers because he's oh so very sensitive.
His hands would feel up your thighs then shamelessly grab your ass while he looked up at you, loving the view of you on top of him and he's got the cockiest grin you've ever seen on his face.
Now we're talking about someone with YEARS of suppressed sexual desires so you better brace yourself because he's far from done.
Caleb would use the entire night to learn everything he possibly can about your body, besides what he already knew. Each sweet spot that make you cry so good for him and just how deep he can hit inside of you to have you gasping for more.
He's sloppy, he's desperate, he's pathetic and it's messy. He'd ask between shaky breaths and his tone is almost whiny "Does that good? I need you to talk to me sweetheart, c'mon."
"Tell me what you want and I'll do it. Teach me how to make you feel good."
"Can I go deeper? Fuck- Please? Please? you feel so good-"
"I can't stop— Just one more, I'll make it good for you too, please, gods please, I need more of you or I'll go insane."
Caleb is the type of pathetic loser that would get a nosebleed while he pounded into you for the nth time.
He'd kiss you when you showed concern, spit trickling down your chin as the taste of iron would spread on your tongue before he pulled away to admire the sight of you completely disheveled for him. Because of him.
He licks the few drops on your chest, the crimson smearing with the sweat glistening on your skin and leaving a trail that only added to the perverted satisfaction that you're his.
Almost every position is crossed off the list in a single night and he's willing to do anything you ask of him. You want to ride him again? He's sat. You want him to hit it from the back? He's got you on your hands and knees already. You want him to eat you out? Please, by all means take a seat on his face. You have complete control over everything that happens most of the time.
It's morning by the time you two pass out, or run out of condoms in the box honestly, but you can fully expect him to try something when he gets into the shower with you the next day. Hey, he's just helping you clean up like a good boyfriend should ;) .

Okay hear me out, Eddie nervous on your first valentines day together wanting to make it special and only knowing how to valentines from what he's seen at school and he panics and is very eddie about the whole thing 👀
please my heart almost couldn't take this. i swore nothing over 1k but nervous and panicking eddie being all cute?? yeah i couldn't help myself. this isn't edited, sorry in advance. no warnings, just fluff.
wc: 2.2k
He feels stupid.
It's the only thought ringing through his head as he sits at the Munson's dining table, scraps of construction paper strewn over the worn wood, glue stick drying out to the side and scissors digging into his knuckles.
It had started as a prophetic vision after a few hits from his blunt; it was quickly souring into the most ridiculous thing he’s ever done.
The high had worn off, Eddie had glued his fingers together thrice now (seriously, how was this glue stick approved for children?), and the end product…. Well, he hated it.
The card was tacky. The flowers were uneven. He didn’t even have the willpower nor time to make a full bouquet as he had originally wanted to while under the influence. Pink glitter was now overtaking the trailer, and he’s never seen his uncle look so damn entertained.
“Boy, what on God’s green Earth are you going?”
Normally, the twang of Wayne’s accent would be comforting. But right now, all Eddie could hear was held back laughter choking up his old man’s throat, and a glint in his eye that felt a lot like a taunt, and he felt the farthest from comforted in a very long time.
“Mind your business, old man,” Eddie grumbles, tongue sticking out as he tries to reglue a corner of a paper heart he had cut out, needing it to stick down properly. He probably should have purchased glue, in hindsight.
“Where did you get all this paper?”
“I said mind your business.”
“Is that pink glitter?”
“Don’t you have work?” Eddie huffs, grabbing at the Valentine card he was attempting to salvage, cheeks blushing more vibrant than any of the arts and crafts supplies spread about.
He didn’t want to admit how embarrassed he was. He didn’t want to give anyone else the satisfaction. It was his own damn fault, really – he had offered for your nightly diner dates to be on him one too many times this last month, and entirely forgotten to put away any extra cash to get you a proper Valentine. And this was his last resort.
He’d tried to convince the local florist to discount the flowers missing one too many petals for him, he’d tried to scope out the cheapest cards available at Melvald’s. He’d begged and bartered with every option in town to simply get you something for the day of love, and in the end, he’d simply fallen short.
So now, all he had was a palm full of gritty glitter and homemade items that looked worse for wear.
One of the kinder ladies that lived two trailers down had been happy to offer Eddie some of her scrapbooking papers, throwing in the glitter for good measure, and he still had an old glue stick from when he’d built one of his custom tabletop maps for a D&D campaign. With five hours and a dream, he was now the not-so-proud creator of three handmade paper roses, and a card hardly large enough to fit in his palm.
When he took a step back to look at it all, Wayne was right to be snickering on the couch over it all.
“They’re going to hate it,” Eddie laments, glaring down at his creations, “They’re going to hate it, and I’m going to get dumped on our first Valentine’s day together.”
“Don’t be so harsh on yourself, son,” Wayne tries to genuinely comfort Eddie now, leaning forward to get a better look at his last five hours of work, “I’m sure they’re gon’ be happy that you just thought of the-”
“My life is over,” Eddie interrupts, walking over to the couch to collapse dramatically.
Wayne stops him, however, throwing up a hand, “Nope. You’re not gettin’ that damn pink glitter all over my couch. Go mope in your room.”
After a brief stare-off, a whole ten seconds wasted when Eddie could be wallowing in his self-pity, Eddie does exactly that.
He hopes Wayne is right, for all their sakes. There’ll be bigger things to worry about than just glitter if you really do hate Eddie’s attempt at a sincere Valentine.
—
It takes nearly a full minute of knocking on the Munson’s trailer’s front door before Eddie opens it for you – that’s your first sign that something is terribly wrong.
Your next sign is when Eddie hardly adds any enthusiasm into your welcome kiss, so reserved, as though he might be in a constant state of cringing; a constant state of preparing for the worst.
“Is something the matter?” you ask innocently enough, toeing off your shoes and shifting your bag in hand. You’d picked up a few movies for the night, a variety of cheesy rom-coms Eddie expressed a slightest bit of interest in along with a few more up his alley. A horror film that neither of you had seen that looked to have a budget of $10 and a dream, and Labyrinth.
The latter, you’d both already seen. Neither of you would pass up seeing David Bowie in his full glory, though.
“It’s fine,” Eddie huffs out, still refusing to meet your gaze, “Want me to put on some popcorn?”
You can’t help but light up as you follow him in his rush to the kitchen, “God – yes, please. I also got some sour patch kids, your favorite, and-”
You cut off when you catch sight of the dining room table.
Eddie doesn’t glance back as he reaches up to the cabinet holding the stash of popcorn he keeps around for your movie nights, “And?”
“Eddie…” you slowly draw out in a questioning tone, looking at the mess before you, “What, uh, happened here?”
It’s an explosion of quintessential Valentine’s day. Pink paper hearts, strips of deep reds discarded messily. A shimmering glitter covers the table, and you can’t recall any DIY projects of Eddie’s for Hellfire that might involve that.
“What?” He’s quick to turn around at that, and you watch as all the blood drains from his face, “Oh, fuck, I-” he launches himself back around the kitchen counter frantically, grabbing at any piece of paper he can find, “Shit, I meant to clean this up earlier, I’m sorr-”
“What were you making?”
Eddie pauses all movement, glancing up at you in fear.
You’re not even sure what he’s afraid of. All you can do is furrow your brows, twist your lips, scrunch your nose.
Was it meant to be a surprise of some sort?
He swallows hard, standing up straight as he shifts uncomfortably on his feet, “I….”
When no words follow, you raise a brow, trying to silently encourage him to continue on.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
And oh, he’s such a bad liar. A pretty one, but a terrible one.
There’s no sign of the stellar poker face you’ve seen him wear during Hellfire sessions, no impeccable cockiness to cover up the obvious. His wringing hands draw your attention to his knuckles, all the drying glue and glitter peeling off bit by bit.
“You sure about that?” you press, grin slow spreading as you take a step closer to him, eyeing the mess he tries to shift in front of to block from your sights.
“Positive.”
“Has anyone told you you’re an awful liar, Munson?”
“I’m not ly-”
You scooch around him effortless, dropping your bag in the process and making him yelp out as he tries to catch you. His arms are quick to wrap around your waist as you try to get a clearer view of what he had been so desperate to conceal, but even his best efforts can’t stop you.
It’s all a bit childish from the outside. Reckless giggles, flailing limbs – even Eddie is smiling in his panic.
“Let go of me!”
“Then leave it alone!”
“I wanna see what you made!”
Each screech between the two of you is overcome with laughter as he pulls you flush to his chest, caging you in and yet failing to cover your eyes.
You spot what he was trying to hide, and all attempts to escape his hold cease.
“Are those…” you start, a little breathless as you stare in awe. You swear, you could burn up from the warmth blooming in your chest. When his arms go the slightest bit limp, you have your answer before finishing the question, “Are those for me?”
A small jar, one that had once held some of Eddie’s pick collection, now holds three handmade paper roses. Mingling petals of two different shades of red, with tightly rolled pieces of green paper servings at their stems. Two even have leaves, cut jagged and true to nature.
Leaning against the small paper flower display is a card.
It’s a messier ordeal than the flowers, but you’re still prying Eddie’s forearms from your stomach in a rush to grab it.
“Hold on,” he rushes out, no longer laughing as you get a hold of the card, “Wait, listen, I can explain. I just- I spent most of my money when we went to Benny’s for shakes last week, and I forgot I wouldn’t get any more cash before today, and I just-” he’s stumbling over his words, a mess of flying hands and wide eyes as you turn to face him, “I… I’m sorry, okay? I swear, they’re just placeholders until I get you a real gift for Valentine’s Day.”
You’re hardly listening to him as you look down at the small paper, folded over fairly impressively to mimic one of the fancy cards from Melvard’s. It’s thinner, sure, but you’re mesmerized as you trace over the heart cut out of the center. It’s filled with pink glitter that clings to your fingertip as it passes, and you can’t help but let out a small laugh.
And then you open the card.
The outside was plain white save for the heart, but the inside is gorgeous. Hand drawn vines and flowers fill the empty space inside. Roses, mums, lillies – every flower you can think of is amongst the bunch. All etched out in ink, an ink you recognize from Eddie’s favorite pen, and every gentle line sketched out to make the larger picture sends your heart racing a few beats faster.
Underneath the glitter heart is a large bee, made with a speech bubble.
“Placeholder?” you laugh breathlessly, biting your lip to stop from smiling like a fool. “You call all this a placeholder?”
Bee mine?
It’s so cheesy, it aches.
Written in makeshift cursive, not quite as neat as it could have been, but clearly a valiant effort from the shy man standing before you. You can’t fathom how he’s embarrassed about this when you look up at him with fluttering lashes and a chest full of fizzling love.
“I thought you were going to hate them,” he hoarsely whispers as he reaches a hand to the nape of his neck.
“Hate them?” you repeat in disbelief, turning your attention back to the handmade flowers. “In what fuckin’ world would I hate these?”
You lift one of the roses from the mini jar, and sniff it on instinct. It should only smell like paper and glue, but it doesn’t – Eddie’s obviously spritzed his cologne onto the flowers.
The miniscule detail has your heart bursting.
He’s still petrified as he stares at you, shrugging hopelessly, “I just know it’s our first Valentine’s together, and people usually go all out-”
“This is going all out, Eddie.”
You can’t imagine being capable of any more love for the boy in front of you. Genuinely – you don’t believe your bones could handle the weight of it, that your heart could take it. You’re filled to the brim with it, buzzing like summertime cicadas beneath your skin from all the vibrant emotions you have for him. For every blemish across his skin and every kink in his curls, for those big brown eyes simply staring at you now. Those knuckles covered in glue and glitter. Those lips that you can’t handle another second not kissing.
And so you don’t. Not another second is wasted as you fling yourself forward, nearly dropping the paper flower in hand as you grab each side of his face, bringing him to you in a hard kiss.
You hope he feels all that love. You hope the weight of it presses down on his shoulders, even if just a little, so he gets it.
“I fucking love it, Eds,” you laugh into the kiss, pressing your forehead, “I- Honestly? I think this is the nicest Valentine I’ve ever gotten.”
“Really?” his eyes pop open, pulling back from you slightly until you simply won’t allow it. You want him close – you need him pressed against you. “Well, shit. I thought you were going to hate them and break up with me.”
“Me, breaking up with you? After this?” you parrot back in disbelief, shaking your head, tip of your nose rubbing against his through the action, “God, you’re an idiot, Eddie Munson. My idiot, but still.”
He finally cracks a smile, and you lose yourself in the dimples that appear as he asks, “Does this mean you’ll be my Valentine?”
“Absolutely.”

And because any time a discussion about Risk comes up, a few things.
It really helps to articulate risks into scenarios. Actually, it really really helps to write it down.
"who" is at risk of "what happened" over "how long".
If all your risks is you, then you're not dividing into public versus private risk. Also, over a year is a good measure of "how long".
Now, some stuff on how to calculate risk. What I'm about to explain is univerally applicable and helps get around that humans are inherently very bad at calculating the risk of something. Thus, people are afraid of sharks and not billionaires.
-Severity: Give a score to how how bad would it be if the risk you defined above were to happen. 1-Negligible, 2-Moderate, 3-Serious, 4-Critical, 5-Catastophic.
-Likelihood; Give a score to how likely it is for the bad thing to happen. 1-Improbable, 2-Remote, 3-Occasional, 4-Probable, 5-Frequent.
Keep in mind, something that might be Occasional in 1 year, could be Frequent in 10 years. That's why having a "length of time" metric helps.
Multiply the scores Severity x Likelihood = Inherent Risk.
Very Low = 1-5, Low = 6-10, Moderate 11=15, 16-20 High, 25 = Very High.
Inherent Risk is the Risk of that thing happening with nothing to prevent it / mitigate it.
Now, define what are you (or society or a group) doing to prevent/mitigate the Risk.
Make a list and rate the quality of that control .
-Doing nothing - 0% change
-Done informally/adhoc - 20% change
-Wrote it down - 30% change
-Wrote it down and evidence done - 50% change
-Metrics regularly (and I mean a documented cadence outside of the risk analysis) have been tracked to show effectiveness - 75% change
-Continuously improving based on the metrics year by year - 95% change
Multiply the control % by the Inherent Risk to get the Residual Risk.
Keeping in mind, in the examples above, there may not be a control to mitigate the risk. Drink/text and drive, there's really no mitigation other than not doing it.
I would dearly love for more people to be capable of differentiating between public risk and personal risk.
Examples: drinking is a personal risk. Drinking and driving is a public risk. Going scuba diving is a personal risk. Running a scuba shop with faulty equipment is a public risk. Riding a bicycle without a helmet is a personal risk. Not maintaining public transport safety standards is a public risk. Foraging for mushrooms is a personal risk. Advertising a mushroom identification app that uses shoddy AI is a public risk. Elective surgery is a personal risk. Not wearing a mask in a doctor's waiting room when you are sick with a contagious illness is a public risk.
I could go on just about forever here. But it's a really important distinction and it drives me nuts when they get conflated, and it's so common.

all for you
synopsis - they'll always love you so dearly
includes - mydei, anaxagoras, phainon
warnings - gn!reader, maybe ooc, fluff, slight crack, wc - 1.5k
a/n: what is this? i couldn't tell you- at best it's a silly little piece i thought of the other day ;;
mydei ★↷
mydei stared you down with a scowl.
all you could do was ignore his scowling and continue on with your task, which was easier said than done as even after all this time, mydei still had a glare that still could affect you - at most it gave you a slightly discomfited feeling but you could always dismiss it.
it wasn't uncommon knowledge that mydei often put himself in uncertain situations, always with a confidence that made it seem like nothing to him. whether that was a result of his own curse or the years of experience he had with those same scenarios was an equal guess.
regardless of which, namely the former, mydei occasionally faced some particularly tricky situations which would result in your worrying.
it was hard not to, even if you were well aware of his curse, the idea of him getting hurt was still enough to bubble some concerns of yours to the surface. mydei always insisted he was fine but that was never enough to soothe your worries.
you continued to make an effort to check for any outstanding injuries that he still may have sustained, none of any potentials would've been fatal but you still wanted to make sure there was absolutely nothing.
if anything, it was almost routine at this point. mydei would get into some kind of altercation and immediately seek you out afterwards. no matter how much he acted like it was a bother or claimed it was unnecessary, he always sought out comfort in your embrace, entrusting you with seeing him at his lowest.
“you worry about me too much” mydei's scowl barely wavered, his eyes still constantly looking at you and only you
you fought back a scoff, “if you're aware then you should watch that heedlessness of yours”
mydei studied your face, taking note on the seriousness you portrayed. he'd be lying if he didn't think your concern for him was endearing, even throughout the constant reminders to you, he found it somewhat charming that you still bothered to care for him in that sense.
there was a few moments of silence before mydei broke the standoff. it was his turn to scoff at you as he abruptly pulled you into a hug with little resistance on your end, “fine, but no promises”
you knew that was the best that you would get from him in words.
anaxagoras ★↷
a long sigh was drawn out from you as your eyes flicked over to observe what anaxagoras was doing - it didn't shock you to see that he was doing exactly the same as what he was doing the last time you checked.
you couldn't exactly recall how long it had been since you'd idly sat beside him. originally your plan was to simply pay anaxagoras a visit as you were passing by, but while you dropped by he had informed you that he was finishing up soon so he'd leave with you. so you saw no harm in complying and waiting around for him.
although, looking back, you realise how foolish of a decision it was. whether it was anaxagoras having a different concept of what “soon” meant, or it was a case of him getting too engrossed back into his work, you weren't too sure. but whatever it was, it was now the cause of your boredom as you waited.
you'd waited too long for him by now to simply turn away and leave without him - you'd made a much earlier attempt but anaxagoras had stopped you, reassuring you he'd be finished some time soon, another case where more insistence on your end would've saved you from waiting longer.
in complete honesty, you never understood anaxagoras.
he always struck as the type of person who much preferred his own company rather than others and it certainly stood true in quite a few cases. anaxagoras also always made it very clear that he had little tolerance for those who held little competence and broke the rules he always went on about.
perhaps it was the fact that you never broke any of those rules that was the reason why he didn't mind you hanging around.
“if you have time to stare, then you have time to talk” anaxagoras's voice snapped you out your daze “speak what's on your mind”
it took a moment to formulate a response on your end after being abruptly caught off guard, although all you managed to get across was a short response claiming it was nothing major - something that was met by a glower on the scholar's end.
anaxagoras soon followed up by announcing that he was finally finished, making a vague signal for the two of you to leave and you joined him. you filled the spot beside him but for some reason, your previous train of thought was still occupying your mind.
after a brief moment you decided there was no harm in asking, which led to you poising the question about why he insisted on you waiting around for him.
he paused for a moment, looking over to you and stopping in his tracks, something you mimicked in turn,
“that's because you're more favourable to me, a preferable appearance in my life”
you looked at him in disbelief, while it certainly was a conclusion that you did entertain on occasion, the idea that anaxagoras did see you as a potential friend, but you always assumed that was too far fetched so being an acquaintance of his was enough for you.
he looked at you, a quizzical almost judgemental look reflected upon his features,
“i thought it was common knowledge for you”
all you could do was stare vacantly at him still, his words still barely processing in your mind as you watched him leave - the rare, sincere smile that fixed its way onto his face going completely unnoticed by anyone.
phainon ★↷
you'd been assisting aglaea throughout the day, a few jobs here and then that needed to be done but nothing too major.
more frequently as the day progressed however, you caught aglaea stopping occasionally, almost as if she was checking for something but anytime you asked if everything was alright she would brush it off and continue on as normal.
you believed her at first as you had no reason to doubt her but soon you found yourself feeling a pair of eyes on you sometimes, coinciding with aglaea stopping in her duties. it happened too frequently to be a pure coincidence but you still attempted to brush it off as you doubted it was anything of concern considering how aglaea kept brushing it off as well.
but eventually you caught her smiling a bit, a smile that felt more knowing than you would've liked - almost as if she knew something you didn't.
you soon observed aglaea delighting in your apparent obliviousness as she began making audible comments to you ranging from “did you see that?” to “do you really have no clue?”
in some sense, it was starting to creep you out as each time left you more questions and unease than answers. thankfully, eventually, aglaea decided to ease your worries with the next time she sensed it, she stopped and so did you, aglaea moved closer to you before talking in a hush,
“he's looking at you again”
arguably that creeped you out more but your gaze followed the direction she was pointing in and suddenly it all became clear again.
not too far from where you were, phainon was watching you. as soon as you locked eyes with him, phainon gave you a sincere smile and waved quickly before looking away and walking off.
you looked back to aglaea, “has he been doing that the whole time i've been with you?”
she hummed slightly in agreement, “most likely, he probably just wants to check up on you without interrupting” aglaea paused for a moment, “besides he has his own tasks to attend too”
you looked back to where he was a moment ago, the spot now vacant, now you were determined to catch him again.
a task that proved to be rather easy now that you knew what was going on as not too long after you caught him again, phainon then giving the same response as before before disappearing again. in a way it was sweet, the idea that he was watching to make sure everything was okay with you and presumably wanting to see you throughout the day without interfering.
after all, phainon always cherished being by your side, complete infatuated with your presence.
additionally it became very clear that phainon was mainly doing so because he clearly missed your presence, which was confirmed from the moment you departed from aglaea for the day and phainon took the moment to show up again. taking your hand in his with the biggest smile he'd shown all day.

Billie sees reader doing yoga early in the morning and can't contain herself
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0af7006872ed36ffcb2154479f418cac/22188392cfb54a8c-e3/s540x810/3799a5c1b78d04c741926585f83fb483873ef267.jpg)
a/n: this was actually quite fun to write even though i’m clueless about yoga😞 got a bit carried away writing it if i’m honest..
i turned over in bed and squinted as i opened my eyes. too early, but i needed to get up. i smiled as i noticed billie. her eyes were lightly shut, her mouth open the tiniest bit, and her hair messy around her face as she slept. she looked beautiful. with the small smile still on my face, i stretched, then stood up out of bed, heading towards the bathroom. i washed my face before heading downstairs for some breakfast. i wasn't usually a breakfast person, but i decided i needed some food in me since i was planning on doing some yoga. i'd recently started getting into yoga, and quickly discovered the hard way that i couldn't do it on an empty stomach no matter how much i hated breakfast. i didn't want to keep getting lightheaded halfway through..
i quickly made myself a bowl of cut up fruit with yogurt over it. it didn't take me too long to finish it, waiting for a little bit for my food to settle before going back to the bathroom to brush my teeth, changed, put my hair up, and then back downstairs to do yoga. i'd set my mat up, and began stretching, and doing different poses. i had gentle music playing through my headphones because i knew i wouldn't have been able to focus if i was doing it in silence. since my music was pretty loud, and my headphones were noise cancelling, i didn't notice at all when the door at the back of the room opened, and billie walked in. i had no clue how long she'd been in the room, but i only noticed when i saw a shadow nearby. obviously, i panicked, not expecting her to be in the room with me. i flinched and rushed to take my headphones out, looking up at her as my heart pounded in my chest.
i placed my hand over my heart, feeling how quick it was beating, and giggled as i spoke.
"billie, you scared the shit out of me."
she laughed and shook her head, then crouched down beside me. i was honestly still pretty confused about what she was doing, she never usually watched me, she only came in the room every so often to check on me and tell me how much she missed me, but she hadn't said a word yet. my eyebrows furrowed as i spoke again.
"how long have you been in here watching me, hm?"
"hmmm, not long." she smiled.
i reached over and grabbed my water that was nearby, taking a few sips and processing her words. i still had more poses i needed to do, but first had a question.
"what's up then bil? usually you come in and tell me you miss me, then go and wait for me to finish. what's going on in your pretty mind?" i smiled back as i spoke.
"well you just look so beautiful. look so perfect in that outfit. you look so perfect in everything. i couldn't help but watch." i saw a small smirk appear on her face while she spoke.
"oh really?" i raised an eyebrow, then sighed, "i need to carry on now, you can stay and watch if you want baby?"
she was very quick to nod at my suggestion, sitting herself down on the floor next to me. the whole time she was there, her eyes didn't leave my body. i could feel her eyes watching my every move, but i just continued. i knew why she was really there. i took another short break after a while and turned to face billie. she had a smirk on her face, and was making direct eye contact with me. i rolled my eyes and laughed, knowing exactly what that look meant.
"i still have a little more to do, baby. not long left now." i laughed as i heard her groan at my words, but something must've clicked in her head. she had a plan.
"can i at least have a kiss?" she smiled innocently.
"when i’m done. i have like ten minutes left."
"pleaseeee. pretty please with a cherry on toppp?" she whined.
i giggled at her words and shuffled a little bit closer to her, leaning in and waiting for her to kiss me. i couldn't say no to her. it obviously didn’t take her long to press her lips gently against mine. when i tried to pull away after a few seconds, i felt her hand come up the back of my head, deepening the kiss and causing me to let out a quiet moan into her mouth. i really didn't expect her to deepen the kiss. i felt her smirk against my lips as we began making out. small whines left my mouth before she pulled away, causing me to groan. i looked into her eyes, practically begging her just by looking at her.
"i thought you had ten minutes left, angel? what happened to that, huh?"
she was getting cocky because she knew she'd got her own way. she knew that it didn't take a lot to convince me to stop what i was doing and give her even more attention, and she knew her plan all along.
"please bil.." i whispered, my lips hovering over hers.
she didn't reply, just carefully laid me down against the mat on the floor.
"in here?" i mumbled.
"just for now, okay? are you comfortable, love? if not i'll take you to our room right now."
"please just touch me. i'm comfortable billie. i need you now." i breathed out.
she soon enough pulled my leggings down. she paused when she saw my underwear. there had to be a spot where i'd practically soaked through them, there was no doubt about it. i felt her fingers run over the damp no, soaked spot on them, lightly brushing over my clit, before pulling her fingers away. i glanced up at her, noticing that she looked mesmerised. i laid my head back once again when my underwear was being pulled off almost immediately. she wasted no time, leaning down, laying on her stomach on the floor, hooking her arms under my thighs and pulling me closer before diving right in.
her tongue separated my folds as quiet, breathy moans came from me. she made her way towards my clit, but then moved back down and pushed her tongue inside me. i clenched around her and moaned loud. whilst i was busy moaning, i didn't even notice her move one of her arms from uner my leg, allowing her fingers to find my clit. her movements were quick, and precise. we both knew i wasn't lasting long at all. i couldn't even stay still as both her tongue, and her fingers worked against me, bringing me right to the edge of my orgasm. my moans were more frequent and high pitched as i squirmed around, trying not to cum until she told me to.
conveniently enough, just as i was focusing on not finishing, she tapped my thigh with her free hand, signalling to me to cum. and best believe i did. all over her face, and her fingers, and the mat beneath me. hopefully it wasn't ruined.. but at that moment in time, i had no time to think about that, my mind was filled with my pretty girlfriend. as she carefully moved away from my pussy, and closer to my face, i took notice of my arousal that coated her lips and her chin.
"such a good girl for me, waiting for me to tell you to cum." she whispered against my lips, "upstairs now?"
i desperately nodded and tried to stand up, but stopped when i heard billie tut.
"ah ah, let me carry you, baby. cmon." she giggled, carrying my all the way up to our bedroom and laying me onto our comfy bed.
"just relax, okay pretty girl?" she whispered against my lips, placing a gentle kiss against them before moving towards my neck, and peppering soft kisses there too.
it wasn't long before my shirt was discarded on the floor, her lips all over my tits and working their way down my body. as her kisses trailed all over me, her fingers lightly pressed against my entrance, slowly pushing into me.
"still so wet and needy for me, hm baby?" i heard her mumble.
"yeah- yes. all for you bils. all yours." i whined.
"good girl." she praised me.
her fingers curled inside me, making my back arch. i was still so sensitive from my last orgasm, and was ready to cum again within only five minutes.
"that's it, my love. doing sooo good for me. taking my fingers so well, isn't that right?"
i moaned from the tone of her voice alone, my walls tightening around her fingers as i resisted the urge to cum already.
"what was that?" she spoke clearly.
"yes! taking your fingers.." i breathed, unable to think straight.
"that's right, baby. so well." she smiled, watching me struggling.
she knew how bad i needed to finish, how difficult it was getting to hold back, she just wanted me to ask her. to tell her. and of course, she got exactly what she wanted.
"please!! please- bil- billie. need to- for you, please. let me cum?" my words were broken, i could barely from a sentence, all that filled my head was how good billie was making me feel, and how bad i needed for cum over her fingers.
"there you go. just needed to ask me, honey. cum." she spoke in a soft tone, sending me further over the edge.
she sped up her fingers, resulting in my cum coating them, and dripping down her wrist, onto the sheets. broken moans and light sobs left my mouth as i started to get overstimulated. i grabbed her hand, urging her to gently pull out and place her hands against my waist. her fingers ran up and down, before she moved to lay against my chest. meanwhile, i was still trying to calm my breathing down.
her clean hand ran through the sweat covered strands of hair that stuck to my forehead. my eyes had been shut for a while, but as soon as i felt her hand on my cheek, i opened them, both of us smiling as my eyes drooped from how worn out i was.
"let's get you cleaned up, okay baby? then we can have a nap, and spend allll day together. how does that sound?" she ran her thumb across my cheek.
"perfect. thank you billie." i lazily smiled.

series masterlist
Steve perched on the edge of his neatly-made bed, hair painstakingly combed into that signature swoop, the red knit jumper hugging his broad shoulders just so. The sleeves are pushed up to reveal his forearms—a look he recently realised drives you a little wild, and one he now makes an effort to wear often.
He liked to catch you staring.
He’s wearing his go-to faded jeans, and every time he glances your way, his eyes take on a softer appearance. You’ve already spent some time in his room before, but every time he sees you there, he still can’t believe you’re in his space.
He’s trying—really trying—not to grin too widely. If he breaks into the excited smile he’s been fighting all morning, he worries he might come off too eager. But truth be told, he is too eager. Hosting Dustin’s birthday party is one thing, but now he has the honour of introducing you to everyone. Officially.
He’s practically bursting at the chance to show you off, the very thought turned his mind all giddy. Knowing that you would be the one with his arm around your waist for everyone to witness.
The idea distracted him from the real drama occurring not four feet away from him.
From your spot by the mirror, you can see him watching you, and it sets your stomach off again. You’re not sure why today feels so monumental. You’ve met Dustin in passing, shared a few laughs with Robin over coffee after she basically saved your relationship a few weeks back.
But tonight is the full show. Everyone. All at once. And for some reason, your carefully chosen outfit no longer feels quite right. You tug the hem of your top self-consciously, tilt your head, and scrunch your nose at your reflection.
“I look awful,” you say, voice laced with the sort of frustration that’s all nerves. “This looked so much better in my head.”
His brow furrows, and he pushes off the bed in a single fluid motion. “That’s nonsense,” he replies, crossing the room to you in three quick strides. He rests his hands lightly on your shoulders, gaze flicking to meet yours in the mirror. "You look beautiful, sweetheart. Always do. You know that."
You huff out a breath, trying not to get lost in the warmth of his praise—easier said than done.
“No, I don’t,” you insist, staring critically at your clothes. “I should’ve brought something else.”
“Well…do you have anything else here?” He asks gently.
There were little traces of you scattered around—a few forgotten items here and there, most notably, the new toothbrush sitting beside his. Still, nine times out of ten, you took your clothes home, leaving behind only your pajamas.
“A set of pajamas.” You sigh dramatically, cursing yourself for not packing more than one option. “That’s about it.”
“Hey, that could work,” he teases, eyes crinkling with amusement. “That’s one of my favourite looks on you.” His hands slide down your arms, his grin growing as he watches your reaction.
Under normal circumstances you would lean into his teasing, but this was not the time. You turn to give him a shove, but he catches your wrist before it can make an impact.
“Steve,” you whine, trying to see the humour in this the way he is.
“What? I’m just being honest,” he says, eyes dancing. “Would you rather I lie?”
Truth is, he does love you in those pajamas—almost as much as he loves you wearing his old shirts. Honestly, you could throw on a trash bag, and he’d still think you’re stunning.
“Please stop,” you groan.
You’re not smiling the way you usually do at his jokes—no little giggle, no playful roll of the eyes.
The shift clicks for him: you’re actually stressed.
Concern crosses his features, and the jovial edge in his voice softens. He lowers his tone, warmth flowing through each word, and slides his hands down to cradle your waist.
“Alright,” he murmurs, thumbs drawing gentle circles against your hips. “Talk to me. What’s not working here?”
“I don’t know,” you admit, exhaling as you sink into him. “I just feel… unprepared. I mean, I’m meeting everyone. Should I have brought something? I should’ve baked. Everyone likes baked goods.”
A breathy chuckle escapes him, and he tucks a stray strand of hair behind your ear.
Like you’re not already sweet enough.
“Angel, Robin is bringing the cake. And you”—he squeezes your waist a little firmer—“are a guest here. Your only job is to relax and look pretty. Can you do that for me? Please?”
The earnestness in his voice steals the protest right out of your throat. You look up at him, heart thumping in that heady way it does whenever he turns on the charm full-blast.
Damn those big, stupid brown eyes.
You turn back to the mirror, pulling at your shirt once again. There’s a crease here, a wrinkle there—things no one else would ever notice, but to you, it’s just off. You can feel his eyes on you, his concern and affection practically radiating from behind.
He’s been so excited, so patient, and yet you can’t shake the last bit of anxiety churning in your stomach about today.
In the reflection, you watch him hover, trying to be casual even though you can see every thought flit across his expressive face. He wants you to be happy and comfortable. He wants to show you off and make sure you feel like a million bucks doing it.
“Can I wear something of yours?” you ask softly, turning to meet those wide, hopeful eyes. “I want something more comfortable.”
Comfortable.
His heart practically leaps at your request. He’s not sure why that single sentence sends a jolt of excitement through him, but it does—and it’s powerful. He tries to school his expression into something normal, but the eager beam that spreads across his face betrays him.
“Absolutely,” he says far too quickly, glad to be of use. “Knock yourself out. Have at it—any one you want.”
He opens the wardrobe, stepping aside like he’s unveiling some prized collection. You slip past him, still self-conscious, but the warm brush of his hand on your lower back comforts you.
Leafing through the soft fabrics, you finally find one that matches the rest of your outfit—a cosy, oversized number that’s equally stylish and undeniably Steve’s. You hold it up, glancing back at him for approval.
He grins—big, unabashed. “Fantastic choice,” he declares, in an exaggeratedly formal tone meant to make you laugh.
It works—you giggle. The sound washes over him like a balm, chasing away the worry in his eyes.
He lives for that sound.
Then, your focus shifts back to the mirror. You pull off your shirt in one smooth motion, baring your bra and the long, graceful stretch of your spine.
The air feels cooler against your newly exposed skin, and you instantly sense the spark of awareness coming from the boy behind you.
He goes still. A part of him wants to look away, to be respectful, yet he can’t stop his eyes from drifting along the curve of your waist and the softness just above your navel.
He’s had the privilege of touching your bare skin before—tentative, lingering caresses that never ventured too far. He’s wanted more, of course he has. He’s human—he’s got a pulse.
But you deserve slow. You deserve a careful pace, no pressure. He’d beat himself up about it for weeks if he even thought he made you uncomfortable.
But that didn’t stop his mind from running.
He wanted to trail his fingertips down every inch of your body, to feel you melt under his touch. Imagining the way you’d arch into his palms, voice breathless as it tickled his ear, egging him on. Images of pressing you up against the mirror, sliding his hands across your hips, your ribs, your chest, discovering every inch he’s been dying to explore.
He tears his eyes away, cheeks heating at his own explicit thoughts.
You slide his jumper over your head, letting the fabric fall into place. Instantly, you’re enveloped in the faint smell of him: cologne, fabric softener, a hint of hairspray.
You turn, a playful, knowing smirk on your face, you catch the flush on his cheeks—his pupils slightly dilated, his posture taut with the effort of keeping his hands to himself.
“More comfortable?” he asks, managing a wobbly smile.
“Yeah,” you smooth the jumper over your sides, nodding. “Much better.”
A smile spreads slowly across his face, relief flooding his features. He steps closer, gently adjusting the jumper on your shoulders, as if making sure you’re perfectly bundled in his warmth. His knuckles skim your collarbone, the gesture sends a pleasant shiver through you.
“Good,” he murmurs. In the silence that follows, you can almost hear the unspoken thoughts swirling behind his eyes. He drops his hands, brushes a quick kiss to your temple, and lets out a breath. “Come on, let’s get downstairs before the others barge in. The peace isn’t gonna last once the party kicks off.”
The house was buzzing with the kind of kinetic energy that made the walls hum. You can feel it reverberating through the soles of your feet the moment you step back into the living room. The cosy space was adorned with colourful streamers and a Happy Birthday! banner—Dustin’s own insistence, of course.
Steve had nearly suffered a heart attack watching you put it up single-handedly earlier, bursting into the room just in time to steady the wobbling chair beneath you.
I mean, Jesus, were you trying to take years off his life?
You had been blissfully unaware of the impending disaster, balancing precariously as if gravity was a suggestion.
He had been right there. You could have asked for help. But no—apparently, terrifying him was just part of the fun.
None of that mattered now the party was in full swing, chatter overlapping, laughter weaving in and out of a sweetly melancholic track Max had just dropped onto the record player.
He had introduced you with obvious pride, making sure to state—loud and clear—that you were his girlfriend. Watching you greet everyone with a tender smile. His attention lingered on each reaction, quietly noting how they took in the girl he was lucky enough to call his.
It felt like unveiling a winning hand in a game he never expected to play so well—like holding onto something rare and knowing, deep down, that he’d beaten the odds.
You quickly spot your host—your boyfriend—hovering near the stereo console, running a hand through his hair, trying to appear unruffled while Max and Lucas sift through his precious vinyls. And in typical Steve fashion, failing at appearing calm, because he can’t quite hide his grin when he sees you looking.
From across the room, he gives you a gentle wave, checking that you’re still alright. His eyes stay on you as you maneuver around the coffee table and dodge a crumb-strewn plate that might have once held cake but now looks suspiciously empty.
“Hey,” he greets, sliding an arm around your waist the second you’re within reach. His hand settles warm and comforting at your side, fingertips lightly pressing into the soft fabric of the borrowed sweater.
“Hey yourself,” you reply, leaning into the contact without a second thought.
He seems to shine in a way you haven’t seen before. Surrounded by the people he calls family, he’s the best version of himself, brimming with confidence and a natural leadership that emerges when he’s trying to make sure everyone else is okay.
You see it in the way he’s just handed Max the next record she was eyeing (despite complaining it’s not appropriate music for a birthday party), the way he’s offered Dustin a refill on his drink twice in the last ten minutes, and the way his entire face softens whenever he looks at you.
You hear Will’s loud gasp behind you—apparently, Jonathan just teased him about some underground album you had never heard of. The brown-haired boy claps a hand on his brother’s shoulder, spinning him into an ongoing argument about what to play next.
Meanwhile, Robin’s perched on the arm of the couch, describing some comedic fiasco at work with her trademark flair for dramatics. You catch only snippets—something about a misfiled horror movie in the kids’ section, a frantic parent demanding a refund, and Steve heroically stepping in to salvage the day.
He rolls his eyes at that particular story, mouth curving in a half-smile. “She’s gonna exaggerate it,” he mutters to you, “just watch.”
You grin, nudging him gently. “Hey, maybe it’ll make you look good.”
“What, me saving the day?” He shakes his head. “Sweetheart, I already look great,” he says in a faux-arrogant tone, then immediately flushes when he realises how that might’ve sounded. But you know him well enough to catch the joking glint in his eye, so you laugh.
“C’mon, Steve,” comes a voice from the left—Nancy, stepping forward with a cautious smile. Her hair is pinned back, a few strands framing her face, and she looks surprisingly at ease despite the chaos around her. “Give yourself some credit. You’re basically running a daycare every shift the amount of times the kids are there,” she teases, though her tone is warm, not biting.
“Yeah, well, if it keeps me from being bored outta my mind, guess it’s worth it.” He snorts.
You shift, letting Nancy into the conversation fully. She meets your gaze with an inviting smile, and it strikes you how nice she is.
Steve had mentioned her coming, and at first, it rubbed you the wrong way. Not in a dramatic, soap-opera kind of way, but in that small discomfort that settled in your stomach before you could talk yourself out of it.
You didn’t want to be that person—the one who couldn’t handle a little shared history, who needed their partner to rewrite the past just to make the present more comfortable. But still, the thought sat with you longer than you liked.
Steve had noticed, of course. He was too perceptive when it came to you, reading the tension in your jaw before you even had the words to explain it. So he reassured you—gently, patiently, with that soft-eyed sincerity he always had when something really mattered.
Without hesitation, he’d offered to uninvite her. But you shook your head because that wasn’t fair. If they were all part of the same friend group, who were you to come in and break it apart? Nancy was part of his history, but that didn’t mean she had to be an issue in his future.
And if he could move forward without looking over his shoulder, then so could you.
She was not the intimidating figure you’d somewhat imagined— the girl he had cared about so deeply in the past. Instead, she’s approachable, her eyes bright with curiosity as she acknowledges you.
“Hi,” she says, tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ear. “I don’t think we’ve had a real chance to talk yet. I’m Nancy.” She offers her hand, and you take it, noticing the gentle, firm shake.
“It’s really nice to finally meet you properly.” You tell her, giving your name in return. “Steve’s told me a bit about you.”
She arches a brow at him, a playful glint there. “All good things, I hope?”
“Nothing but the best.” He raises both hands, half-defensive.
She laughs quietly, then turns that inquisitive gaze back to you.
“So, I heard you’re, um… you work in—”
“Journalism,” you supply with a small nod. “It’s not as glamorous as it sounds, but I really like it. Kinda took your place at the Hawkins Post.” You joke. “They treat me a lot better now though. It’s not anything huge, but I get to read new articles, help shape them a bit, get the occasional coffee run… it’s fun and sometimes totally insane.”
Steve leans in, beaming with pride.
It had gotten easier—less and less often did you show up at his house on the verge of tears after a shift. Turns out, grown men get pretty uncomfortable when you call them out on their bullshit directly. And damn, was he proud when they finally started taking you seriously.
He always knew they would. You’re a smart girl, after all.
“She’s underselling it.” He says, without the slightest bit of shame, gently nudging your shoulder. “She’s great at what she does.”
“That sounds so much better than when I was there.” She shakes her head, reminiscing about her experiences. “I still do a lot of writing myself. I’m working at a local paper in Massachusetts right now.”
Something about her tone clicks into place for you, like a puzzle piece sliding in.
“Right, Steve mentioned. You like it?”
“Yeah. It’s… challenging, to say the least.” She nods, crossing her arms loosely. “Still a small paper, still small stories. But I’m building my portfolio, hoping to maybe do bigger pieces eventually.”
A warm sense of camaraderie blooms in your chest. You completely understand that hustle, that feeling of needing to push through the drudge work to get to the fulfilling stuff.
“Oh, absolutely,” you say. “I used to think I’d be working on these huge headlines right off the bat, but it was mostly basic editing work. Still,” you add, “I’m kind of a sucker for persevering.”
Her eyes crinkle with a real smile, and for a moment, it’s just you two, connecting over the rollercoaster that is words.
“I know exactly what you mean. It’s exciting to be at the start of something, you know?”
“Makes the early mornings and late evenings worth it,” you tease, and she laughs.
This was easier than you thought.
The conversation flows so smoothly that you almost forget the context—that this is Steve’s ex you’re talking to, that the only reason you even worried about her presence was because of that shared history. But here she is: easy to talk to, friendly, and—if you’re honest—reminding you a bit of yourself in how she lights up when discussing her work. You could understand how Steve fell for her in the first place.
And that’s when it happens: Dustin bounces by with a half-eaten cake slice, eyes going wide as he sees you and Nancy chatting. He glances between you, leans in—crumbs falling from his mouth as he finishes eavesdropping.
“Whoa, you guys are so alike.”
“Took you long enough to notice.” Erica chuckles, passing behind him.
Steve nearly chokes on air. Excuse me?”
“I told you—” Dustin smirks at Steve, “both super nice, pushy in a good way, and way too into all that reportage stuff.” He wiggles his eyebrows. “Patterns, man. I see them.”
Nancy, amused, shakes her head but doesn’t deny it. Meanwhile, you feel a curious prickle in your stomach.
Even though you haven’t felt threatened by Nancy at all, it’s… interesting, hearing Dustin phrase it that way, noting how similar the two of you are.
Before you can dwell on it, Steve is in full damage control mode, waving Dustin away.
“All right, all right, that’s enough outta you, birthday boy.”
Dustin, unbothered, snickers, then scampers off to deposit his napkin onto Jonathan’s pile of party rubbish. You catch Nancy’s eye, and she looks like she wants to say something, but a flush of colour creeps across her cheeks instead. You wonder if she’s embarrassed at the topic or if she’s also noting how the conversation just positioned you and her in the same category.
“Anyway,” Nancy says softly, clearing her throat, “it was really nice talking to you. And I do want to chat more about writing. Would be great if our paths were to cross again.”
“Sure. ” You nod, smiling. “Anytime.”
She dips her head in a polite goodbye, departing to rescue Mike from an argument with Lucas. That leaves you and Steve standing there in the aftermath of Dustin’s remarks.
“Uh… sorry about that,” he mumbles, glancing down at you. “Dustin’s always been, like, embarrassingly direct.”
A wry smile tugs at your lips. “It’s okay. I’m not offended.”
The evening drifts into its final hours with a soft sun lingering in the corners of Steve’s living room windows. Most of the balloons have deflated a little, and the noise has died down into pockets of lingering conversation.
Dustin’s boisterous laugh echoes one last time as he heads out the door, hauling an armful of presents. Max trails behind him with the rest of the kids, carrying a few he couldn’t manage. She pauses to give you a small nod and a grin—her quiet way of saying, I like you.
You thought at first she was a tad standoffish, but her actions made you feel accepted into the small group. And if they approve of you, that's a sign that maybe you do belong here, in this makeshift family.
Not that you’re getting ahead of yourself or anything…
Robin departs next, hooking her arm through Erica’s at the last second to drag her into some half-joking conversation about finally getting a break from babysitting Steve. Which she wholeheartedly agreed with, even if she was multiple years his junior.
Nancy laughs, glancing your way as if to share the humour, and you wave goodbye with a soft smile. Jonathan, her hand in his, offers you a polite nod. They looked so in sync, bodies unconsciously angled toward each other, moving as a unit. There’s no tension, no leftover drama—just two people who found their other half.
The thought made you more anxious than relieved.
When the door finally shuts, the hush that falls over the house is unsettling. You can still hear the faint crackle of the record player, the needle resting in a quiet groove before you switched it off. Now, there’s just the quiet clink of dishes in the kitchen and the soft hum of Steve’s voice—he’s singing along to the old radio as he stacks up the glasses. He told you he had it under control, and knowing you didn’t like the feeling of leftover food in the sink, he took this job for the team.
You’re left gathering discarded wrappers and balled-up napkins, your mind spiraling in circles you really don’t want to follow but couldn’t help yourself.
Nancy is lovely. Infuriatingly so.
In fact, she was so kind, so pleasant, that it almost stings more than if she’d been cold. Because it means you can’t hate her. Not that it was your goal to do so, but you couldn’t just dismiss her as some memory in Steve’s past.
She was right for him once, and the knowledge of how closely her life aligns with yours—similar ambitions, the same drive for success, the spark of curiosity—makes your throat feel tight.
What if Steve also sees her in you? What if every moment you thought was unique and special was just him trying to relive something he used to have with her?
You can’t stand the idea, but the rational side of your brain doesn’t seem to be cooperating.
Steve isn’t cruel. You know that.
He’s never been anything but considerate, thoughtful, patient with you. Hell, the amount of times he was there for you—without hesitation, without needing to be asked. Holding your hand when you were nervous, pressing a kiss to your temple when you overthought, making you laugh when you wanted to cry.
He had never once made you feel like an afterthought. He was all in. And yet, the thought gnawed at you—was he here because he chose you, or because he was still reaching for a shadow of the past? Was he even aware he was chasing her ghost?
Your fingers tighten around a crumpled paper plate, and you swallow against the lump forming in your throat. You wonder if you really are just a Nancy 2.0 as you step into the kitchen, tossing the rubbish in the bin and retreating back to the now clean living room. Not wanting to talk to him just yet.
The water stops running, the tap squeaking as Steve turns it off. You hear him dry his hands on a dish towel, then he appears in the doorway, face lighting up for a moment—until he sees your expression.
“Finished in the kitchen,” he starts, voice warm and a little proud, then pauses. “...What’s wrong?”
He settles beside you on the couch, the cushions dipping under his weight. Your shoulders tense a little—his proximity normally soothes you, but tonight, your mind won’t quiet down, and every small gesture feels magnified. He notices immediately.
“Nothing,” you say, forcing a small, tight smile. “I really liked your friends. They’re all super sweet. I can see why you get along so well.”
“Oh yeah?” There’s a warmth in his tone, a hopeful rise.
You nod, dropping your eyes to your hands. He slides closer, until his knee brushes against yours.
“You even got Erica to like you,” he points out, sounding genuinely impressed. “It took me weeks to win her over, and you waltz in and manage it in a few hours? So not fair.”
You can’t help the soft laugh that escapes. “I’m sure she’s just being polite.”
A quick scoff breaks from Steve’s throat. “Erica doesn’t do polite unless she means it.” He places his hand lightly on your arm, and despite the tension coiled in your chest, you feel a rush of affection at the contact. “No, seriously—I loved having you here, angel. Made the whole day so much better.”
“Really?” you ask, voice wavering just enough that he picks up on your uncertainty.
“Well, yeah,” he answers, brow creasing. “I’m just glad they didn’t scare you off.”
Your lips form a weak smile. “Oh, they didn’t.”
But there’s something about your tone—some waver you can’t quite hide—and his eyes sharpen.
“Okay, spill,” he says, leaning in. “What’s going on?”
“Huh?” You try to keep your expression neutral, but his gaze pins you.
“I know you,” he insists, a furrow carving between his brows. “You’re stressed about something.”
“I’m so not,” you counter, folding your arms tight against your chest.
“Yeah, you are,” he replies, undeterred. “You have tells.”
“Tells?” you echoed.
“Yes, tells.” He shifts forward, voice low. “So tell me—what’s on your mind? Did someone say something? Because I swear to god—”
“Steve,” you cut him off, irritation sparking. “Nobody said anything.”
“Then what is it? Was I too much? I swear I just wanted people to know how much I—”
“Steve,” you say again, louder this time, frustration rolling through you in a hot wave. “I’m fine. Drop it.”
His expression crumples the instant your sharp tone slices through the air. It’s like someone yanked the rug out from under him, and he sits there, quiet and unsure, those warm eyes losing some of their usual shine. It kills you to see him look so hurt, and you can practically feel the guilt creeping up your spine.
“I’m sorry,” he murmurs at last, voice soft and almost hesitant. “You… you don’t have to come to the next one. If it wasn’t fun, or if it was too much—”
“That’s not it,” you say, cutting him off. You watch the confusion linger on his face, and it only makes the ache in your chest worse.
He just wanted to have a good time, to share his world with you.
And now here you are, turning what seemed like a perfect day into something heavy and complicated.
“Then—what?” His shoulders sag. “I don’t know what else could’ve gone wrong.” His gaze flits over your features, looking for answers you haven’t yet spoken.
You swallow, steeling yourself.
“It was just… Nancy.”
“Nancy?” Steve’s eyes widen in surprise. “I thought you two got along really well tonight.”
“Yeah,” you admit, speaking around the lump in your throat. “We did.”
He pushes a breath through his nose, like he’s sifting through every possible explanation and coming up empty.
“I thought you’d, I don’t know, bond over books or something. I mean, I know you were anxious before, but you’re both so… nice. She’s already with Jonathan, you’ve got me—”
“Steve.” You cut him off again, trying not to let your voice waver. “We’re similar. That’s the problem.”
He blinks. “What d’you mean?” His tone is gentle, even though you see the concern in his eyes.
You rake a hand through your hair, fighting for the right words. He shifts forward, bracing himself.
“Steve, we’re really similar,” you say at last, voice low.
“Okay?” He nods, urging you to continue. “So you have some shared interests. Where are we going with this, sweetheart?”
A shaky breath escapes you, and you force yourself to look him in the eye.
“Are you sure you’re not still… looking for her?”
He frowns, confused. “Looking for her? I don’t—”
“Yes, Steve. Searching for someone like Nancy because you couldn’t have her. Like I’m just the next best thing. Even the kids picked up on how alike we are.” Your voice cracks, and you hate how vulnerable you sound. “I don’t want to be some bullshit replacement, filling up the space she left behind.”
All it takes is that one word—bullshit—and the floor drops out beneath him.
You’re looking at him, voice trembling with hurt, and the realisation that you think you’re not enough guts him. Because he knows that feeling too well. He’s been there, on the other end, wondering if he was any good for anyone. But this? This is a thousand times worse. Because it’s you—and if there’s one thing in this world he’s certain of, it’s you.
He can’t stand the heartbreak in your eyes. Can’t stand the idea that he might be the one making you feel that way. His mind scrambles for something, anything, that might put your mind at ease—words to counteract that awful notion of being not enough.
Then, suddenly, clarity strikes. He can’t think of anything else but to go full-force, stern, direct, because you’re far too precious for soft reassurances that could be mistaken or ignored.
“Hey,” he says, voice firm enough to startle even himself, “listen to me and listen to me good, all right?”
He can see how shocked you are at the tone he’s using; you go still, your gaze locking on him in a way that assures him every word will sink in. It has to.
“Never—and I mean never—are you some kind of half-ass replacement. You hear me? So get that thought out of your head right now.”
He’s never spoken to you quite like this before, but desperation thrums under every syllable.
I can’t lose you. Please believe me.
“I don’t care how long it takes or how many times I have to say it—you are not second place. You are not a replacement. I didn’t settle for you, I chose you. You think I’d waste my time with someone I didn’t want wholeheartedly?”
He asks the question as though there’s no logical answer except the truth: Of course he wouldn’t. And he can’t stop now; your silence pushes him to continue. He needs you to know.
“God, if you could see yourself the way I do, you’d never think this again. You would never doubt how much I love you. How stupidly lucky I feel every day just to have you. You are not some ghost of my past. You are my future. And nothing—no one—could ever change that.”
There’s a ringing in his ears from the intensity of his own words, and he breathes hard, every muscle coiled with tension. Your eyes are wide, shining with an emotion he can’t decipher—shock, relief, maybe both. He hopes to God his message got through.
And then—amid the silence—your voice comes out soft, almost a whisper.
“You love me?”
The question slices through him like lightning. He falters, suddenly off-balance.
Fuck.
Because he’s just laid bare his entire heart, more than he’s ever dared to before. But there’s no taking it back. No gentle way to hedge now.
“Yes.” He swallows. His voice is steadier than he feels inside. “I do... Simple as that.”
That was all it took.
The words barely leave his mouth before you surge forward, meeting him in a kiss that’s all teeth and tongue, messy and urgent, the taste of each other a heady mix of relief and need.
He gasps when you grip the collar of his sweater, tugging him closer, refusing to let a single breath of space linger between you. In response, his hands slide down your waist, pulling you tight against him until he can feel every curve, every line of your body against his.
“God,” he rasps against your mouth, already sounding relieved. “You—fuck.”
You hum a soft, breathy laugh escapes as he hauls you closer, helping you out as you sit and straddle his lap. His mouth is trailing hot, open-mouthed kisses down your throat as you sink your fingers into his hair, tugging, making him hiss against your lips.
He’s so desperate he doesn’t know where to touch first—fingers skimming over the curve of your hip, the dip of your waist, sliding boldly beneath the hem of your—his—jumper to feel the heat of your skin.
Everything about you feels like an invitation, a promise he’s craved for far too long. And each gasp, each little whimper you give him, only fuels that growing ache inside of him.
“Steve,” you whisper, voice cracking with urgency. He glances up, eyes dark, pupils blown. There’s something unbridled there—devotion, longing, raw determination to make sure you never doubt him again.
He pulls you closer, one hand curling around your waist, the other sliding around to grip your ass, pulling you flush against the growing hardness in his jeans.
Then, as though a last spark of caution flickers through his brain, he stills, pulling back just enough to look at you—really look, eyes darting between yours. There’s a flush high on his cheeks, lips reddened from your kisses. But behind that is a tenderness, a protective streak that roars beneath his surface need.
“Tell me you want this,” he says, voice so low it practically reverberates through your chest. He needs to hear you say it. Needs to hear you tell him it’s alright. “I want to make sure you’re positive, because I—I want this more than anything—to show you, to make you feel so fucking good, but…”
You let out a noise that’s both a laugh and a moan.
“Steve,” you repeat, more breathless this time. “I want this. I want you. Please.”
He groans, eyes squeezing shut. Thank God.
“Shit, you have no idea how long I’ve—” He takes a breath as he shudders against you, every nerve ending on fire. “Angel—fuck—wait, just a sec.”
You blink, momentarily dazed. “What—did I do something?”
He just about melts at the concerned look you’re giving him, hands immediately cupping your face as he presses his mouth against yours as he mutters reassurances.
“No, sweetheart. You didn’t—you’re perfect.” He wills his brain to formulate a coherent sentence. Easier said than done when he has you sitting on his lap. “But, if I’m going to make love to you, I’m not going to do it on the living room couch.”
A glint sparks in his eyes, but there’s nothing playful about the way he suddenly gathers you up into his arms, hands cupping beneath your thighs, hoisting you effortlessly against his chest as he stands. Your squeal of surprise echoes in the now-quiet house as you cling to his shoulders, heart pounding.
You laugh out his name and his only response is to tighten his hold on you, a grin tugging at his kiss-swollen lips, before he turns and starts up the stairs, carrying you like you weigh nothing.
Your arms wrap around his neck, your lips brushing the line of his jaw, and his low groan vibrates in your ear, spurring him to climb faster.
He kicks the bedroom door open with his foot, all too eager to finally have you in his arms, in his bed. He sets you down on the edge of the mattress, his hands lingering at your hips as though he can’t bear to lose contact.
You’re about to tease him for being so careful, but the sight of him—flushed cheeks, hair a disheveled mess from your fingers, lips reddened—steals the quip from your tongue.
“You okay?” he murmurs, his voice low and husky. As urgent as he feels, there’s that undercurrent of protectiveness, that need to check you’re here with him for all the right reasons.
Your smile is a little breathless. “I’m more than okay.”
He exhales slowly, like your reassurance is the only permission he needed to keep going. Then he nudges your knees apart so he can step in closer, pressing your bodies flush. The warmth of him is addictive—solid arms, broad chest, that steady heartbeat thrumming beneath your palms.
A shiver runs down your spine when he bends to brush a slow kiss along the side of your throat, teeth just barely grazing your skin. Your head falls back, and he uses the moment to trail more kisses along your jaw, your collarbone, mapping the curve of your shoulder as if memorising every inch.
“Lie down for me,” he whispers, voice trembling with the effort it takes to keep it gentle.
You slide back onto the bed, propping yourself on your elbows, and he kneels near the edge, guiding your legs up so you’re fully on the bed. His hand glides beneath your clothes, pushing it slowly upward, knuckles skimming the bare skin of your waist. His gaze locks with yours as he slips it off over your head, making sure you’re still okay with each inch of exposed skin. You can’t help the small, playful grin that tugs at your lips.
“Careful, Harrington,” you tease, breath hitching when he plants a soft kiss at the center of your sternum. “At this rate, it’ll be sunrise before you get these clothes off.”
He huffs a little laugh against your skin, the warm puff of air sending a tingle racing across your flesh.
“You deserve careful,” he says, words muffled by the increasingly desperate kisses he’s leaving along the tops of your breasts, your clavicle. “But don’t think for a second I’m not dying to tear everything off you, angel.”
His fingers drift to the waistband of your jeans, undoing the button and zipper with a focus that makes your stomach flip. He eases them down your hips, helping you lift so he can slide them all the way off. Then, with a featherlight touch, he glides his hands up your thighs, sending sparks of electricity racing through you.
“Steve,” you breathe, voice catching when he leans down to kiss your newly bared skin. He starts at your calf, working his way leisurely up, each press of his lips driving you a little bit more insane. By the time he reaches your inner thigh, you’re trembling—desperate for him.
“Look at you,” he coos, voice shaking with something close to awe. His fingers slide along the band of your underwear, and he gently pulls them down, letting them join your jeans on the floor. With each inch, he leaves more of you uncovered, and the intensity in his gaze leaves you feeling bare in more ways than one.
You try to close your legs, feeling slightly exposed with the way he is gazing at you, but his hand is firm as it grips your thigh, holding you open. You hold your breath as his fingers skim over your folds, head falling back as his thumb circles your clit slowly.
“Shit,” he breathes out, second hand joining to gather some of your wetness on his fingers. “You’re fuckin’ soaked, angel.”
“Steve,” you murmur, voice quivering with need. Your fingers thread into his hair, urging him closer, your body already winding tight from the warmth of his breath against you.
“God,” he mutters, words muffled by another kiss to your thigh. “I’ve wanted this—wanted to do this—for so damn long.”
He shifts, situating himself more comfortably. Then, with a half-lidded glance in your direction, he leans in and presses his mouth against your clit in a way that shatters every remaining thought in your head.
A soft cry tumbles from your lips, and he groans at the sound, pulling you in deeper, his grip on your thighs tightening.
He moves carefully, learning your reactions, letting your gasps and moans guide him. Each flick of his tongue, each gentle suck, is a question: Is this good? More? Show me. And every time you arch your back or let out a ragged whisper of his name, he answers with another fervent, deliciously slow pass of his mouth.
"Fuck, angel, I could do this all night.” He dives back in. “Keep you here, keep you shaking over and over on my tongue."
He’s so tender in his insistence, balancing the sharp edge of hunger with a profound concern for your pleasure. One of his hands slides up to lace your fingers together, and he squeezes—almost like he’s grounding himself in the moment, sharing each pulse of sensation so you know he’s right there with you. The other hand strokes up your thigh and curls around your hip, keeping you anchored against him.
“Oh, God,” you gasp, voice pitching higher when he drags his tongue across your pussy with a pointed languidness. Your thighs tighten around his shoulders, and he shudders, his fingers reflexively pressing into your skin.
He pauses just long enough to rest his forehead against your thigh, breathing hard. His voice comes out in a low rasp, intense in its sincerity.
“You taste so fucking good,” he mumbles dazed as he returns to his ministrations. Lapping against you like he couldn’t possibly get enough.
A wave of warmth crashes over you at his words—any lingering insecurities vanish beneath the heat of his devotion. You tug lightly at his hair, guiding him back, and he happily obliges. His tongue moves in slow, deliberate strokes at first, building you up in a dizzying ascent, then quickens when your moans become urgent.
Your heels dig into his back, and you choke out something unintelligible—his name, a plea, a broken sob of bliss. He groans in response, the sound reverberating through your entire body, heightening the sensation until you think you might shatter from it.
There’s something almost reverent in how thorough he is, like he wants to memorise every reaction, every hitch of your breath.
“You’re making the sweetest fucking noises, baby.” He murmurs. “Driving me insane.”
Tension coils in your stomach, winding tighter with each measured flick of his tongue. Your grip on his hand is borderline crushing, but he just grins against you, absolutely thrilled by the desperation in your touch.
That’s all the encouragement he needs to push you closer and closer to the edge. His name tumbles from your lips again, a breathless entreaty, and he groans, the vibration sending sparks skittering across your skin.
He can tell you’re close—he can feel it in the way your hips jerk, the way your pussy clenches, the way your voice climbs. And he wants it for you, wants to be the reason you come apart so completely that you’ll never doubt his devotion again.
“Come on, sweetheart, I’ve got you,” before diving back in with a perfect, rhythmic swirl that makes your entire body tense.
The tension snaps. A rush of pleasure bursts inside you, and you let out a cry that would embarrass you if you could think about anything but the ecstasy roaring through your veins.
Your hands grip his shoulders, nails biting into his skin, and he moans like the taste of your release is exactly what he’s been dying for. He works you through every pulse, every aftershock, with gentle flicks of his tongue until you’re quivering in oversensitivity, pushing lightly at his head to let him know you can’t take another second.
When he finally straightens up to see you—lying back against his pillows, clad in just your bra—you spot a flicker of pure hunger crossing his face. He swallows hard and you see your release glistening against his chin as he does. He’s trying to keep himself tethered to sanity, but it’s a losing battle.
“Not fair that I’m the only one so… exposed,” you breathe out, hooking a finger into the hem of his jumper.
“Impatient, huh?” He lets out a shaky chuckle as he licks his lips.
You roll your eyes in faux annoyance, tugging firmly at the fabric. He gets the hint. In one smooth motion, he yanks his shirt over his head and tosses it somewhere behind him. You catch a glimpse of toned arms and the lean planes of his chest, and it steals your breath all over again.
But he’s not done—he pops open the button of his jeans, sliding them down until they pool at his ankles, stepping out with a sense of urgency that has you biting your lip. For a moment, he just stands there, letting you take in the sight of him, hair messy, eyes blown wide with desire, wearing only his boxers.
“Better?” he asks, eyebrows lifting.
You drag your gaze up and down, unrepentant in your ogling. “Much.”
Steve’s eyes glitter with raw need as he hovers over you, his body pressed so tight you can hardly breathe. Every breath you take is steeped in the mix of his cologne and the sweet, desperate scent of your own arousal.
“God, you’re so fuckin’ gorgeous,” he mutters under his breath, his gaze roaming over your curves with a barely restrained hunger. One of his hands grips your thigh, dragging it higher around his waist. “Don’t know how the hell I got so lucky.”
You can’t manage a reply—your breath stutters as he runs his other hand up your side, fingers skimming your ribs, his thumb grazing the underside of your breast in a fleeting touch. The contrast between how tender he’s being and the way his voice drips with a filthy promise makes you whimper, arching into his touch.
He leans in, teeth nipping at your lower lip before he kisses you slow and deep. It's messy and you can taste yourself on his tongue.
“Fuck,” he whines, “I need you, sweetheart. Need you right now—can I?” His voice cracks with urgency, and you feel every syllable reverberate through your body.
“Yes,” you whisper, voice trembling with anticipation. “Please, Steve. I—”
He cuts you off with another kiss, sliding his hand between your thighs, which have only got stickier. He groans at the way you shiver, so worked up that you feel like you might combust if he doesn’t fuck you this instant.
“Jesus Christ,” he mutters. “So wet for me.” Then, in a lower tone. “I’m gonna make you feel so good, baby—gonna make you forget anything else exists except how good my cock feels inside you.”
His words took you by surprise. Your usual sweet boyfriend was downright obscene with his words.
You knew he had a sharp tongue, but you had no idea how damn filthy he could make it.
He reaches into the bedside table and tears the condom wrapper off with his teeth, making quick work of sliding it over his length.
The moment he lines his cock up at your entrance, you can feel the tension in his body—like he’s holding back a tidal wave of desire, absolutely determined not to hurt you, to make sure you’re comfortable.
“You good?” he rasps, voice tight.
“Yes,” you pant. “Steve… please.”
He exhales a ragged breath and pushes into you, inch by inch, until the stretch of him draws a moan so raw from your lips that he answers with a guttural “Fuck.”
Your head falls back, the sensation an exquisite combination of pleasure and the ache of being so completely stuffed. He stays there a moment, trembling arms caging you in, nose brushing yours as you grip him like a vice.
“Angel,” he chokes out, voice thick, “You—you feel so fucking perfect. Look at me.”
You force your eyes open, meeting his gaze, and the ferocity of his desire sends another wave of arousal flooding through your veins, clenching around his length.
“You feel that, sweetheart? Feel how deep I am?”
All you can do is nod dumbly as his hand presses on your lower stomach. He knows you can feel him there.
He starts a slow rhythm, hips rolling, each thrust calculated to bring you higher. And for all his filthy talk, there’s a sweetness in the way he cups your cheek, kisses your jaw, your collarbone, like he can’t decide which part of you he loves most.
“God, yes,” he groans, each thrust picking up in intensity. “You like that? Tell me you like it.”
“I love it,” you gasp, fingers clawing at his back. “Steve, you feel—God, you feel amazing.”
He lets out a breathless laugh that ends in another throaty moan as he angles his hips just so, making you keen against his lips. His pace quickens, every stroke hitting deeper, sending sparks of pleasure through every nerve.
“Fuck—baby, you’re so tight,” he hisses, his mouth at your ear. “So damn tight for me. Never want this to end—wanna keep you like this, under me, always on my cock—cumming so hard you forget your own name.”
Jesus, if you knew this was how he was going to talk, you would have given him the green light weeks ago.
He punctuates the filthy promise with a particularly deep thrust, and your toes curl, a cry spilling from your throat as you cling to him. You’re quickly losing yourself in the haze of his words, his body, his everything.
You utter his name in a choked sob, and it’s like a starter’s pistol. He shifts his angle just enough that the strokes perfectly grind against that sensitive spot inside your walls. The pleasure mounts in a dizzying spiral, your body tensing as you hover on the brink of release.
“That’s it,” he coaxes, voice gone ragged, snapping his hips more insistently. “God, cum for me, sweetheart. I need to feel it—want to feel it so bad.”
And with one more roll of his hips, you do—crying out, body arching as the orgasm shatters through you. Every nerve in your body lights up as you clamp down, and his guttural moan tells you he’s right there with you, grinding through your climax until he’s spilling himself into the rubber, breathing your name over and over like a prayer.
For a moment, you’re both lost in the aftershocks, hearts pounding, bodies tangled in the sheets. Then he sags against you, pressing lazy, tender kisses to your shoulder and murmuring small, breathless praises that make your cheeks burn with warmth.
The afterglow is still pulsing between you—soft, warm, and intimate. He leans down to press feathery kisses to your shoulder, your chest, up the side of your neck, murmuring words of reassurance and awe.
“You did so good,” he breathes, voice low and reverent. “So perfect.”
Heat flutters in your chest at the praise, and you can’t help but giggle, reaching up to tangle your fingers in his hair and guide his face to yours. Your lips meet in a searing kiss, slow and sweet. When you finally pull back, you find him watching you with those big, earnest eyes.
“Was I… okay?” he asks, cheeks turning pink in a bashful sort of way. “Like, everything good for you?”
“More than okay.” You let out a satisfied sigh, your body still humming with pleasure. “That was perfect.”
“Yeah?” he echoes, a shy grin tugging at the corners of his mouth.
“Yeah.” You brush a thumb across his lower lip, feeling a spark of amusement as you remember the filth he whispered moments ago. “When were you gonna tell me you had such a dirty mouth?”
Instantly, his face flames. He cannot be blamed for what he said in the heat of the moment. It was hard to have a filter when he had you mewling underneath him.
“Hey, well, uh… I don’t… I mean, I—”
“Shh.” You chuckle, placing a finger over his lips “I loved it.”
“Oh yeah?” He exhales, relief and pride mingling. “Well, I’ll keep that in mind—my girl likes it a little dirty.”
“C’mon, lover boy.” A fresh wave of laughter bubbles out of you. You let him help you up, your legs still a bit shaky. He steadies you with a strong arm around your waist and guides you to the bathroom so you can rinse off the sheen of sweat and bliss.
The shower is warm and comforting, the water sluicing away every last trace of tension as you help each other soap up and rinse off. When you emerge, toweling your hair and feeling the pleasant ache of satisfaction in your muscles, you notice Steve holding out one of his old T-shirts for you to slip on. You beam, tugging it over your head before crawling into bed next to him, the soft cotton drowning you in his familiar scent.
He pulls you close, cradling you against his chest. The hush of the room, the warmth of the covers, and the steady sound of his heartbeat lull you into a sweet, sleepy contentment.
“Hey,” he murmurs, turning so his nose brushes yours.
“Mmm?” you reply, lashes fluttering.
“I love you, sweetheart.”
Your heart clenches at the simple sincerity in his tone. “I love you too, Steve.”
And with that, his arms tighten around you, and you drift into a peaceful sleep, knowing that in the morning, you’ll both wake up in the same bed, same sappy looks on your faces, same lovesick smiles as you bask in the golden morning light. Steve will probably be watching you already, grinning like a fool, fingers tracing lazy patterns over your back, because he’s just that smitten.

While I don't know much about WWI, I think it's worth mentioning that Denethor does not regard Faramir's retreat as a failure per se. On the contrary, his entire strategy depends on Faramir leading a slow retreat, and it's Faramir who had reservations.
In Tolkien's version, the geography and architecture of the region very much favor the Gondorians, but they're drastically outnumbered. So the strategy is for the Gondorian armies to inflict massive casualties as they retreat over favorable ground, including half of Osgiliath, the river crossing, the Rammas Echor (the wall around the Pelennor Fields), and then through the farms and townlands of the Pelennor Fields. Meanwhile, Denethor has the knights of Dol Amroth prepared to burst out of the city in a shock cavalry attack as soon as the retreating army starts to get overwhelmed, allowing the remaining infantry to get safely within the city. Denethor is also careful to order the knights back in the city as well so they don't get overextended, preserving the bulk of his armies. This occurs over several days, essentially forcing Sauron's armies to spend multiple days repeatedly attacking and overwhelming these highly defensible locations before they ever get near Minas Tirith, taking heavy losses as they go.
This is an incredibly risky and dangerous strategy because it essentially trades the lives of a portion of the Gondorian army for the chance to drastically slow Mordor's assault and inflict massive casualties—but the defending armies are less able to afford these kinds of losses with 9/10 of the country's armies elsewhere. So Faramir's position is that the trade-off is too high even if they're successful. Denethor's is that, well, it has to be done anyway, and requires a highly skilled commander to pull it off successfully. Faramir is likely the only person in Gondor other than Denethor himself who could conceivably carry it out the way it needs to be done with Nazgûl and evil magic afoot, and in fact carries out the strategy precisely as planned while under the effects of the Black Breath. Faramir manages to hold his troops together as long as he's conscious (he falls partly from the illness and partly because he stayed with the rearguard—the most vulnerable part of the army in a retreat—to get all his men to safety) and 2/3 of the infantry he's leading survive to fight in the later battle.
The days taken up by this punishing tactical retreat end up buying the necessary time for both the Rohirrim and the southern Gondorian armies to reach Minas Tirith and relieve the siege. As a result, Sauron's armies never even get past the front gate of the city, and their numbers are reduced when they have to defend themselves against the Rohirrim and the armies brought by Aragorn. It comes at a steep price—Denethor bitterly describes himself as "spending even my sons" and a lot of Gondorian lives are lost, even if the larger portion of the army is preserved.
I actually this is important to the original point, though, because all this makes it an excellent example of what the OP is talking about—retreat as both clearly heroic and, in the right circumstances, an entirely valid and effective strategy if you can carry it out.
It's a cliché to say that Tolkien's experiences in WWI affected all aspects of his writing, how he wrote about friendship and grief, how he wrote about desolate blasted landscapes. But I wish someone who knows more about Tolkien's military career could help me understand how Tolkien related to retreats. His description of Faramir keeping his people together on the retreat from Osgiliath is one of the best-written sequences in the trilogy, and hardly anyone remembers it. It's about a desperate retreat, and a leader whose presence, whose strength manages to keep it from turning into a rout. There's something very vivid in the descriptions: don't break formation, don't start running or they'll pick you off one by one, keep together, keep moving, hold all of that fear at bay. Tolkien describes that retreat as genuinely heroic, a superhuman act of will, one that exhausts Faramir almost to death, and Denethor still does not accept it as heroic because it's a retreat. It saved men but it lost territory, therefore in his eyes it's a failure.
Tolkien has strong opinions about heroic retreats, in the Silmarillion he sometimes gives the retreat-through-the-dangerous-wilderness plotline to female characters (Emeldir, Idril), he always writes them with respect. Sometimes, getting out of there and keeping most of your people alive is a great act of valour. I feel like he must have had a personal experience about what it means to retreat, and what it means to hold a retreat together, and what it means to get no thanks for it.
#long post#legendarium blogging#legendarium fanwank#denethor#faramir#i wasn't initially going to say anything bc it felt nitpicky but i think the /success/ of the heroic retreat across the pelennor#is actually important to the point here!#lord of the rings#jrr tolkien#anghraine's meta#ondonórë blogging

You saw him the second you walked into the coffee shop—It only took you ten minutes to hype yourself up enough to walk inside, but here you were.
In the midst of your prep talk, after you sorted through all the possible scenarios, you decided the best thing you could do was place a mobile order, that way if he wasn’t there, you could be in and out, but as soon as your eyes landed on the mobile counter Harry, your boy wonder barista, was chatting up some cute blonde, her friend standing close by.
You could relate to the friend, staring doe-eyed, a stargazed smile playing at her mouth, and as you watched, you imagined that if her long hair was freed from her high ponytail, she would be twirling the long strands around her finger, tossing it over her shoulder every time her friend laughed, or Harry’s eyes moved to hers. She had that desperate third-wheel energy, and although you knew the feeling, the second-hand embarrassment gutted you from across the room, your insides crawling up as you witnessed the blonde let out a screechingly high laugh, one that felt way too forced, almost halting you in place as you made your way over to the counter, and you tried not to make a face.
This wasn’t the first time you had noticed pretty stragglers, the girls that lingered a little too long, and being the owner of this shop, he had an effortless way of collecting them, you chalking it up to good customer service because he was always going to need the business. You knew you could never be mad about this part because it was part of his livelihood.
Especially when, as soon as you were in Harry’s line of sight, his eyes found yours, a broad smile spreading across that gorgeous face, and dammit, if you weren’t dying to follow through with whatever he may have been implying the other night.
Because shit, when he sent you that pic, his rock-hard cock standing tall, and those fucking tattoos marking his v-cut. He had your head spinning. You weren’t even a dick pic, girl, and there you were drooling over the thought of that dick inside you, and honestly, you weren’t even sure why you asked for a picture in the first place—a dick is just a dick in your book, but there was something about just knowing, that horny thought tickling the back of your mind any time you saw him standing behind that coffee bar.
The strange part was that you hadn’t even talked to him since. That was four days ago, and for some reason, you were too scared to speak to him. I guess there were other reasons: you had been busy with work, starting that new internship—more like a glorified assistant position—the first two days were long and grueling, and it gave you a few extra days to sit on the thought, but then you realized texting back would make it real, right? What kind of response was he expecting?
It was late when he sent the picture, so it was understandable if you had fallen asleep, but you also weren’t sure if you not responding, pivoted the vibe, and now there was only one way to find out.
Yes, you were, without a doubt, interested, but you had been out of the dating game for a while; you couldn’t even remember the last time you had sex. It would be nice; he could definitely break you in, clear the cobwebs, pick you up, and dust you off because a toy can only do so much, and lately, you’ve only been taking it out on special occasions…whatever that means.
And let’s be real; you’ve been doing anything to justify your barren behavior. Who even needs a special occasion to get off? What were you turning into? You were getting way too comfortable in your independent ways, and while that’s great for most, it was okay to loosen the reigns every once in a while and get your metaphorical “dick sucked” because you deserved it; you deserved this, and as you reach the counter, Harry is pulling your drink toward him, a sly smirk playing at the corner of his mouth, while the blonde talks at him.
“Unfortunately, I have very little free time these days, but I can definitely ask the crew if they’re interested in any…was it pilate classes?” He asks the blonde as her flirty smile falters ever so slightly, almost giving herself away, and your eyes move back to your drink, now clasped in his hand on the counter.
“Here, why don’t I get your number…I can, like, send you the info or something…” and you have to admit, it was smooth, the perfect segway to land the cute coffee shop owner’s number.
Then your eyes flick to Harry, who’s patting his pockets, searching for his phone, and he clicks his tongue, shaking his head, “You know what? I don’t have my phone…”
And just when you think he’s distracted, you reach forward across the counter, ready to swipe your drink and run, but he’s quick, strangely aware of your presence, and he snatches up the drink, a smile on his face as he says, “Maybe Jen at the register has a pen and paper you can write it down…” Then his eyes sweep to yours, sending you a wink—a fucking wink, and you have to stop your jaw from dropping because as soon as the blonde picks up on the interaction, she scoffs under her breath and looks over at her friend.
“Hi…” He says, giving you his full attention, and from the corner of your eyes, you can see the blonde standing there dumbfounded, maybe rarely getting rejected because you can definitely tell that’s a pilates body, the perfect canvas for her matching Lululemon set, and when her friend tugs on her arm, you bite your lip, trying to suppress a smile.
“I’m here to pick up a mobile order…” you tell him, fainting innocence because, after all, you were the one that never texted him back.
Harry looks down at the drink in his hand, “Hmmm…did you order a grande London Fog with oat milk, no vanilla, sub brown sugar…” and Jesus, the way he says sugar makes you want to lick your lips, the word glazing over his tongue; that British drawl never getting old.
“Embarrassingly enough, yes…but it sounds ridiculous when it’s said out loud like that, shhhhh….” you say, reaching for your drink, but he only pulls it further out of reach. He’s in a playful mood this morning, and you can tell he’s not holding a grudge for your sudden onset of silence because it was kind of sudden.
After you ran into each other at that John Mayer concert, the one your sister forced you to go to—You only remembered a few of his songs from childhood, the ones your sister played to death, so you spent that night drinking, pregaming before the show, you know, being a supportive sister until her boyfriend decided to come at the last minute, making you the tag along.
As soon as the music started playing, it wasn’t that bad. The whole set was acoustic, his smooth voice echoing off the stone mountains, the weather perfect as the stars twinkled above, and really, it was the perfect concert to sit cozied up to your boyfriend so you couldn’t be too mad at your sister because it was nice seeing her this happy. So, when you snuck away to use the bathroom, you weren’t expecting to run into your favorite hot barista, and what are the odds that he would be alone?
He was standing in line for a drink, and you were just tipsy enough to follow through with a, “Oh hey…Harry, right?” like an idiot because you definitely didn’t know him like that, and surely it was weird on your part, approaching him like you had ever formally introduced yourself.
Every transaction you guys have ever had was him being friendly because it was his job, right? Like for example, you knew his name only because he wore a name tag, not because you’ve ever taken the time to ask him, and maybe he’s asked you a few questions here and there, but you had seen him do that plenty of time, whether you were waiting in line or sitting in the cafe before you finished school, you know, a friendly shop owner trying to get business and that’s what you thought, but then he called you by name, and this was new because you couldn’t remember if you had actually heard him say it directly to you—you would have remembered the way it fell from his perfect lips as you watched his dimples dip into his cheeks.
And once you got over the initial shock of him knowing your name, him clearing the air, trying to play it down, telling you he sees a lot of regulars out and about, you said, “I guess I thought I flew under the radar…” which was silly, because what the fuck did you mean by that and what did you know about planes, then he laughed and told you:
“I’ve definitely noticed you on many occasions…” As a clever smile turned up the corners of his mouth, you felt it: the heat creeping up your neck, your cheeks warming as his eyes swept over your face, stealing your focus, and it was sudden, his effect as the noise began to fade—a head rush—then the world started slowing down around you, your heart echoing in your ears. When he smiled, he licked his lips, and you watched as that smile spread into a knowing grin, and just like that, you were hooked, like magnets, for the rest of the night.
Then, somehow, it was all smooth sailing, and that’s the part that gets you later when you look back on that night. It was like a miracle from the fucking universe because what were the chances—and when he offered to buy you a drink, and you found out he was there by himself, you felt brave enough to ask if he wanted to join you because fuck being the third wheel when you had a chance to chat up the hot-ass coffee shop owner.
You couldn’t believe your luck. How many times did Harry lean over and whisper in your ear? His deep voice like velvet brushing down your spine, and each time, Harry inched closer and closer until you were shoulder to shoulder. With every movement he made, you felt him—hyper-aware of everything, all the little detail as John Mayer practically set the mood, him ending the concert with ‘Your Body Is A Wonderland,’ and thank the fucking stars up above because, dammit, if that song hasn’t become Harry’s theme song in your head because nothing else will do because now you would have that moment forever, floating across your memory.
When Harry politely placed his hand on your knee, whispering, “We should exchange numbers….” as John said his thanks, wishing everyone a good night, you sat there wishing you could end this night with Harry’s lips on yours.
Maybe in another universe, Harry would have kissed you goodnight, but you were with your sister, and you had already made plans with her. So when sister tried to play matchmaker and invite him to join you guys after, he graciously declined, telling you guys he had to open in the morning, and that’s when you realized you were actually okay with his not joining. You needed time to digest this evening, mull it over until it was real, and as you floated still on a high from the evening to the car, there you were, sending him a text just before your phone died.
That night, as you crawled into bed hours later, still riding that same high. Harry’s face was fresh on your mind, familiar but in a new light.
All you could think about were those fleeting moments when you guys traded phones—Both of you entering each other’s numbers as you stole a quick glance at Harry’s shakey fingers, typing away at your keyboard—There was something so vulnerable about the idea of your phone being in his hand, of you holding his, an act of trust right off the bat, you thought as you plugged in your phone— a hazy daydream of Harry’s fingers playing out, picturing his yellow nails, each one marked with a happy face, and it’s exactly how you felt, how he made you feel.
Because how did it happen? And when your phone came back to life, there was his name, Harry Styles, a message setting the tone for all the weeks to follow:
H: Hi, Sorry! I’m passing out soon. The dreadful opening shift is killing me this week. I’m really glad we ran into each other. Kind of crazy, but I’ve been trying to think of ways to get your number for a while. I hope that’s not weird or anything. Thanks for letting me crash your evening with your family. You were definitely a pleasant surprise. See you around.
Fast forward several weeks, and here he was, standing before you, once a stranger but still one of the sexiest guys you had ever seen because let’s not pretend like you haven’t been eyeing him ever since you started coming to this coffee shop. Now, there were numerous possibilities—the looming thought of him being inside you, hanging over your heads, added static building between you, and yes, his flirting right now is solidifying the deal for you because he wants you. You can see it in his eyes, the electricity coursing through your veins when they flit to your mouth, and then he says:
“I was getting worried…I haven’t heard from you,” and he smirks nonchalantly reading the label of your drink as your eyes sweep over his face.
His playfulness simmers into that casual, relaxed demeanor you’ve grown so fond of, and you can’t help but smile, your body warming at the thought of that last message, the image flashing across your vision, but there’s something different about the interaction, the thought of him more intimate because now you had the pleasure of piece together more details, more things about himself that he’s revealed, and let you kept, collecting bits of Harry that only make you like him more.
“I’m sorry, I started that internship…it was crazy the first few days…” you tell him.
“Oh yeah, I was wondering how that was going…” and this makes you smile. His attentiveness, his genuine curiosity about your life because he really did seem interested this whole time, from the very beginning. “I was hoping I didn’t scare you off—”
“Mmmm…” you nod, getting lost in a trance, his words like a switch, igniting that little flame within. He has a way of sucking you in, making you feel like you’re the only person in the room, the way he holds your gaze, never flinching, never shying away.
“Yeah?” He nudges, a curious look pulling between his brows.
You clamor a nervous laugh, the sound making you stumble over your words, “Yeah—I mean—no—no…not scared…I mean, no, you didn’t scare me off…”
“Not scared…” he laughs
And you squeeze your eyes shut, shaking your head, as a smile spreads across your face, “Yeah…whatever that means…” you laugh, this time taking control of your reaction because shit, you are giving yourself away, and it’s no wonder you didn’t text him back because you can’t even keep it together enough to form the right words, let alone a sentence for that matter.
“Mmmmm….” he hums, that sly grin back in full swing, and you don’t even want that hot drink anymore because it’s fucking roasting in here, and you hope with all your might that he’s not picking up on your embarrassment, but then he says:
“Did you want a water?”
“A water?” you ask confused.
“Yeah, you usually get a water…you seem thirsty this morning—”
“Thirsty?” you question, caught up in that smile.
“Yeah, do you want extra ice, maybe cool you down a little bit?”
This is when you finally catch on to his joke, “I think I have to go and never come back, “ you say, turning away slightly.
“No—no—no—no—no—no” He laughs, reaching over the counter to grab your arm, and you feel the blush creeping further, setting your whole body on fire. “I’m just joking… you’re cute when you blush….”
“Oh really? Because now I think I want to die,” you force, hitching your thumb toward the door as he releases your arm.
Harry shakes his head, that smile even more persistent, “I’m only teasing…here…” he says, pushing your drink forward, “I promise I won’t poke anymore fun…” and just as the words fall from his mouth, a random girl walks up, grabbing her drink, her eyes trained on Harry, smiling over to get his attention, but his eyes never leave your face. All you want to do is climb onto this counter and let him take you right then and there—let him claim you, make you his, pray that you’re his one and only because every time you see him, that want, that need to have him. Buries itself deeper inside you—each new day, every new detail only makes you like him more.
“Would you want to come over tonight?” Harry asks, catching you off guard, the question tripping you up again.
“Oh, my roommate is having people over tonight, so I can’t host…” you tell him, unaware that you heard the question wrong because this would be the first time you guys hung out alone, without the safety of a crowded bar or the public eye of his coffee shop.
“No—” he laughs, thoroughly entertained by you this morning, “Would you like to come to mine? I don’t mind hosting…maybe watch a movie or something…”
Or something…you think, something wild, your thoughts spinning as you nod your head up and down, words suddenly hard.
“So is that a yeah?” he pokes.
“Yeah—yeah—yeah—” you confirm, still nodding, “Yup, that sounds good…that sounds really good…”
And you’re kicking yourself for that last bit, “Really good, huh?” he repeats, really driving it home.
“God, I have to go…” and you fucking giggle like a little schoolgirl, “I think I need caffeine or something…” you tell him backing away.
He chuckles, his eyes dropping to the drink in your hand. “I steamed it extra hot this morning…”
“Thank you! I—” you tell him, your tone rising as you turn away because you almost walked right into that one, and just as you’re about to push through the door, Harry shouts, “I’ll text you…” and then you’re through the door, gasping in a breath, the cold air filling your lung; a soothing relief. There is no way you can look back, and as you slide into the driver seat, your phone buzzes in your back pocket, and you lift your ass in your seat and peer down at the screen, swiping it open:
H: I’m looking forward to tonight. I’ll start thinking of movie options. Let me know what you think you might be hungry for, and I’ll order food.”
If this had been a weekday, you would have called in. You would have risked the internship because this was monumental—You were going to Harry’s place—This was bound to be a turning point, a change in scenery for you both, more personal, shifting the mood from friendly to possibly sexy, and this you had to prepare for.
You waited until you got home to text him back. You didn’t want to come off as too excited; you wanted to play it cool. I guess, yes, you could have texted him back right then and there, but why not leave some mystery? You already knew you wanted Chinese food; that was a no-brainer, but when he texted you and told you his internet was down. He asked if you had any DVDs, and this made you laugh. You had only kept a few random movies over the years stowed away in a box in your closet, a sparse collection curated specifically for you, especially not for a hot dude you were trying to get with.
And when you pulled your old box of belongings from the dusty top shelf, you laughed the second you opened it. There, sitting on top, were three random DVDs—you were beside yourself because now you were questioning your younger self, wondering why the fuck you would keep any of these movies, store them away like prized gold.
Okay, maybe there was something about the movie ‘Twilight’ that was worth keeping. You could understand that, and as you pulled it from the box, your eyes swept over the cover. You thought about the kind of vibe it would set, and it seemed like a movie you’d make your boyfriend watch when you just wanted a movie to cozy up together, something you knew he would never enjoy but would watch for you because he loved you. Maybe it would be okay if you both had seen it, but if Harry hadn’t seen it. This wasn’t the time, so you placed it on the floor next to you, making it an option.
When you pulled ‘The Notebook’ out, the cover Ryan Gosling and Rachel Mcadams about to embrace in a passionate kiss, you literally laughed out loud because there was no way in hell you wanted to watch this movie with him. It was way too soon. What message would you be sending if you chose that one, maybe you were overthinking this all, but hell, this was a big deal, and you wanted it all to go smoothly. You didn’t want to imply too much this early on, but at the same, the more you thought about it, the more you thought that you could actually see this going somewhere, and maybe it wasn’t just the sex you wanted—it was him.
Everything about him screamed—interested.
It didn’t seem like a facade to get you into bed because if that were the case, you think he would have already acted on it; something about the pace of your interactions meant more than a hookup. You found his genuine curiosity in you endearing, the biggest turn on in a very long time, and if sex came cool—He was already “fucking” your brain with his authenticity because if you really broke it down. None of the boys that have popped up in the last couple of months were ever worth your time. You had been waiting around for a man—a real man, to swoop in, a man that was sure of himself, that had his shit together, that was interested in more than just a casual hook-up because you were over that bullshit, over the feeling of being disposable in somebody else’s roster.
And while you weren’t fully sure of Harry’s intentions, you bet if you asked, he would tell you. He was busy. He had a business to run, for heaven’s sake, and something told you he didn’t have a lot of time to fuck around, like when he told that pilates instructor he was busy, there was definitely some truth in that. You could tell he was organized with his time by the way he made plans—each hang out thoughtfully procured with your time at the forefront, never flaking or making excuses, never changing the plans at the last minute.
In fact, everything about him so far was a major turn on, and as you skimmed through your underwear drawer, trying to piece together a matching set because you could be a grown-up too, you laughed, your eyes flicking over to the third movie laid out across your floor, Juno—that was the one—That would be the perfect movie. You couldn’t even remember the last time you watched it, at least not as an adult. So you did the polite thing and sent him a picture, the movies lined up in a neat row, and as you sent the picture, you internally wished that he would choose Juno like maybe that would be the universe’s way of saying, “Yeah…you’re on the same page…this ones a keeper…”
H: We should talk about your movie collection later…but without a doubt, Juno for me…but I wouldn’t be opposed to The Notebook either…I’ll let you pick.
You laugh, falling back onto your bed, watching those tiny little dots move at the bottom of the screen.
H: Also, I’m going comfy vibes, like sweatpants and t-shirt kind of night, just a heads up.
Then you’re kicking your feet, that inner school girl rising up again, and now you’re fucking obsessing over this guy, over the fact that he just gets it, like somehow he’s becoming the complete package, like all those late-nights thinking about him was finally starting to pay off.
H: Ordering the food now, see you soon!
You send him a text, leap off the bed and rush to finish getting dressed; that picture of his dick in the foyer of your mind, and you squeeze your thighs together at the thought, already horny with the idea of just walking through his door, the idea of sitting on the same couch and it’s like you’re a teenager all over again, dying to makeout until your lips are chapped, rub your body against his until the friction has you wet until his hands are roaming your body, needy to explore every inch of you.
This is what you’re thinking as you wait for him to open the door, your heart thudding away in your chest. When you hear the click of the knob and the door creaks open, your stomach twists with butterflies, the flutter seizing your whole body as he reaches out to embrace you in a hug, but your hands are full, and you can only lean into his side, a half-ass hug as he starts collecting each item, kicking the door closed behind you.
“Glad you found it okay,” Harry tosses over his shoulder as you follow him into the living room.
Harry sets your stuff down on the coffee table just as the doorbell chimes, “Ah, that must be the food, be right back, just make yourself at home…” He smiles, his eyes searching your face, and you hope you’re not coming off too nervous because, let’s face it, this is intimidating as fuck. You figured he had his shit together, but his place was amazing, eclectic yet put together like he actually paid full price for his couch, probably brand new, a large fluffy L-shape—you couldn’t help but flop down onto the cushion, exhaling all your self-doubt because what’s the worst that could happen, you think as your eyes flit shut, sinking into the feeling of comfort.
“I’m going to grab some dishes,” he says, stirring you from your thoughts, and you open your eyes as he releases the sack of food, the boxes making a dull thud as they hit the table.
You push yourself up with a smile, him catching you in the middle of testing out his sofa, “Comfy couch,” you tell him, clearing your throat.
He laughs, “It really is. If I fall asleep during the movie, you’ll have to wake me.”
“I was literally just thinking the same thing. I drank coffee before I came, so—”
He runs a hand through his hair, “I honestly did the same…I didn’t want to leave a bad impression. I’m notorious for falling asleep early.”
You laugh then, “Well, if I had to get up at the ass crack of dawn to open a coffee shop, I would never have a social life.”
“My social life is barely functioning…trust me….” He tells you, “I’ll be back in just a second. Are you good with chopsticks, or would you like a fork?”
“Chopsticks are great, thank you.” You grin, your cheeks squishing into a wide smile.
“What?” he asks, matching your smile.
“Nothing…nothing…I’ll set up the movie,” you offer, needing to look away, needing to look anywhere else because he is so fucking cute, and those sweatpants are so hot on him, hugging the bulge you know is there, and if you stare too long you might start undressing him.
“That would be perfect, thank you.” and his manners make you smile even more as you stand to your feet, slipping your shoes off to get cozy.
The movie is set, and when he sees the opening menu of Juno, he laughs as the old wood floors creak under his soft footfalls. His presence fills the room in a matter of seconds, drawing you back to the moment, making you all too aware that this is real when he sits closer than you expected, his elbow softly grazing yours, and you can’t seem to find any words, you heart racing, maybe second-guessing if you’re actually ready for this, and really this is just you guys watching a movie. You know it doesn’t have to be anything else, but then there’s the desperate side of you, the side that wants to explore every option because there is something about him that feels safe and open to every prospect.
Getting past the eating part was fine, and as you guys cozied up with your plates and the movie began, it wasn’t even strange that the opening scene was a mild sex scene because you were both adults and honestly, it was barely a sex scene, mostly implied, kind of like this night with Harry.
It was when the eating was done, all the niceties out of the way. There was still an hour of the movie left, the room dark now, only the soft glow of the television casting light over you both. Harry’s knee was casually pressed against yours as the both of you sat cross-legged on the couch. Every time he moved even the slightest, your eyes would drop to your knee, a low hum buzzing up your thigh, and as soon as you brought any attention to the touch in your mind, that feeling of want pulled between your legs, making you suck in a slow, silent breath through your nose, you reminding yourself to breath, trying not to draw any attention to yourself.
Eventually, you relaxed enough to sink into the movie— overly focused on the screen—even when Harry stretched his legs out and slid further down on the couch cushion, his arm stretching across the pillow behind your head. You didn’t even move. You just sat there so quietly and so still, nearly holding your breath, and maybe he must have picked up on this because then he was pausing the movie, suggesting a bathroom break.
And the second he walked out of the room, you felt your whole body decompress, and you filled your lungs with as much oxygen as you could, gulping in air like the second he walked back in the room, he would steal the very air you were breathing. Why were you still nervous? He hadn’t tried anything, he wasn’t being weird or hinting at anything, no hidden expectations floating to the surface because you guys really were just hanging out, but that still didn’t make it feel any easier. Before he left the room, you could feel the tension straining in your shoulders as you sat there, your muscles burning from your rigid posture—you needed to chill; you were the one that needed to get your shit together.
When you heard his footsteps, you shot up from the couch like a fucking weirdo, almost losing your footing, but you caught yourself before you could fall, a nervous laugh slipping past your lips, and by the way, your face was already starting to burn, you were glad it was too dark to see the flush rising to your cheeks.
“All good?” He asks, a slow smile spreading as his brows knit together.
You nod, forcing an odd laugh, “Is the bathroom that way?” you point in the direction he just came from, and you barely catch his nod as you take the long way around the couch, avoiding any chance of touching or his body brushing yours because it’s obvious you’re being a fucking chicken, because there’s no way a grown man was inviting you over just watch a movie.
As you shut the door behind you, you exhale, realizing you were holding your breath that entire walk to the bathroom, and then you can’t fill your lungs quick enough as the anxious thoughts rise within, suffocating you, your anxiety trying to get the best of you. You can do this. Everything is okay, you are capable of communicating, you could march in there and just talk, you could ask what the deal is, what it is that he’s looking for because if it’s just to fuck, that is doable that part feels like a piece of cake, you would love to get off, but this was more, you can feel it in your bones, there was knowingly something different about him, and it scared the shit out of you.
And while you wash your hands, you try and avoid the mirror, avoiding your eyes, because you know what they would convey, and you already felt cowardly enough. So, of course, when you walk back into the living room again, you take the long way, not daring to look at Harry. Then you take your spot back next to him without a word, feeling his eyes on you, your body tensing up, and as you stare at the screen waiting for him to unpause the movie, he doesn’t. That’s when you chance a glance over at him, his eyes roam over your face, and then he leans past you to turn on the lamp as you hold your breath, the scent of him lingering in your nose as he settles back onto the cushion, this time facing you, and you look over and try and give him a corky smile, but you know it looks strange because the muscles in your cheeks keep twitching.
God, this is embarrassing, you think, and Harry clears his throat, “Umm…is it cool if we clear the air?”
And without a word, you nod, forcing yourself to face him, sitting up straight because you got this, you can do this, get this part over.
“I guess I just wanted to be clear about…I guess my intentions…I don’t know. It’s been a while since I’ve dated anyone…and I guess I’m feeling a little rusty. If that makes sense?” He explains, making your heart pick up.
“Yeah…same,” you mutter, your throat tight, and you swallow down hard.
“I’m still trying to figure out how to navigate this all…you know, like…I don’t know. I really like you, and I was hoping we could like—”
“What? Have sex—?” You blurt, making him gasp out a laugh, and really, you just wanted to cut right to the chase and figure out what your next move needed to be.
He looks nervous, a funny smile spread across his face as he runs a hand up the back of his head, “I mean—” and he laughs, his nerves visibly getting the best of him, and this makes you smile because you definitely just jumped the gun.
“Is that what you’re wanting?” he asks, looking down at his hands, “I guess I’m trying to figure out what you’re looking for—” He starts
“To be completely transparent, I’m sort of looking for something a little more serious…I mean, sex is great, but—”
You jump in then, “No—yeah, the other…” you clear your throat, “Like something serious…I’m sorry, but you make me so fucking nervous…”
“Am I being too forward?” he asks, his brows furrowed.
And you laugh, “No, I just think I really like you, and it’s just…been a while, you know? It’s also been a while since I’ve dated anyone…or I guess…like had sex…”
“Mmmm…” he hums, and then he laughs, “Not to push the sex narrative, but it has been a while for me, as well….like maybe a year or so. I don’t know. I stopped keeping track. I’ve been really busy with work, and I wasn’t really looking for anything, and then I saw you at the concert…”
Your eyes search his face then, but you know he’s telling you the truth, “So…like, how serious are you thinking? Like someone to exclusively hook up with? Fit into your busy schedule? What are you looking for? I would rather be on the same page.”
“Like dating…like a girlfriend…like maybe this could be something that moves further…”
And for some reason, you narrow your eyes at him, cocking your head to the side, “With me?” you question.
Harry laughs again, “Well…yeah, you silly.”
Then you had to back up the conversation, “So the other night when you sent me that picture, it wasn’t for the sake of a hook-up?”
“I mean, I’m interested in hooking up, but it doesn’t have to be right now…I don’t know, I guess I just wanted you to know I was interested…” Then he laughs, his eyes shying away from you again, “Like I said, I’m rusty. Was that a weird thing to do? It’s been a while since I’ve done that…actually, I’ve only done that one other time…so—”
“I did ask for it…” you clarified, grabbing his attention.
“Yeah…I guess you did.” Then his eyes drop to your mouth.
And now you’re feeling bold, “I’m very interested…” and when your eyes dart away from his, you feel your face growing hot, laughing to yourself as you contemplate the conversation because you didn’t see it coming, but there was a piece of you that was glad it was happening, maybe even a piece of you realizing you may have a communication kink because you’re definitely getting turned on the clearer his intentions get and when he asks:
“What are you thinking?” That’s when you look over and smile, watching his smile spread across those perfect lips of his, and you bite down on your lower lip, deciding which dirty thought to divulge because there might be too many to choose just one.
Then you bite your lip harder, trying to suppress your smile, but it’s no use, and you say, “I mean…we can wait as long as you want to explore the physical side, but I’m down whenever you are…like so down…”
This cracks him up, “So, just like whenever?”
And you match his laughter, falling back against the couch pillows, “I might let you make me Ju—no—” and you can’t even say it with a straight face as you both burst into laughter, all the tension seeming to go with it, and it’s like the room is brighter, the air lighter around you as you suck in a hard breath, almost choking on your own laugh.
“I’m actually on birth control…so the Juno thing might be out the window,” you tell him, placing a hand on his knee. You’re so caught up in the moment that you don’t even realize it. Then he’s resting his hand on yours, smiling over at you.
That’s when you feel the pad of his thumb moving back and forth over the top of your hand, and you look down, “Hypothetically speaking…” he says, squeezing your hand, and your heart leaps in your throat as you begin to grip his hand.
“If I were to ask you if you wanted to stay the night one day… would you be down with that?” Then he grips your hand back, and you loosen your hold, laughing because you keep giving yourself away.
“Honestly? You ask.
And he nods, that cute smile stretching, his dimples sinking into his cheeks, “Can we just like get the first hook-up out of the way…because if I wait any longer, I might psych myself out”
“Fuck…” he breathes, “Yes—I feel the same way…like right here? Or in my bed?” he forces, relief washing over his features, a new air of excitement filling the room.
“Oh…did you want to finish the movie?” he adds right before you tell him:
“Fuck no—” laughing as you squeeze his hand again.
“You look like someone who would have a comfortable bed…” you tell him, standing to your feet.
Harry rises with you, still holding your hand. “My rooms upstairs—” he says, his eyes flicking to the stairs through the archway.
“Okay…?” he questions, his eyes scanning your face for any hesitation.
“Yes—” you nod as he begins to pull you toward the stairs.
As soon as you reach the landing at the top of the stairs, he turns around, laughing, “Wait—you said I look like someone who has a comfortable bed?”
“Is that really what you’re thinking about…? You laugh.
He shrugs like he’s stalling, or maybe he’s nervous, “I mean… among other things…”
“Harry, are you nervous?” you ask, squeezing his hand again, and honestly, you’re hoping that he says yes because you’re not sure how this is going to go down, but you’ve been horny for him long before he sent you that photo, so you don’t really care about the details; you just want him inside you as soon as possible.
“Honestly…I don’t think I’ll last long. I just thought I would warn you…”
You smile then, lifting your hand to stroke his cheek, “Then we’re both in the same boat…we’ll just say the first time doesn’t count. Deal?”
“Deal, " he says, letting out a light laugh. You stand there, taking in his face. A boyish grin setting in, about to push you to the edge, and you practically leap to the tips of your toes, pushing your mouth to his.
At first, he’s stunned, but once you begin to move your mouth, he grabs hold of your face, taking a step back. When he takes another, you break the kiss, excitement coursing through you, and you peek over his shoulder, wondering which door leads to his bedroom. When he realizes what you’re doing, he grabs your hand and pulls you toward the end of the hall, pushes through the door, and it smacks against the wall as Harry tugs you through the doorway.
The first thing you do is grab hold of his shirt, his picture flashing across your vision. You have to see those tattoos in person, and when you begin to pull at the hem, he takes your cue and lifts it over his head. Now you’re the one who’s stunned as a whole series of tattoos come into view, halting you in place. Then your eyes are feasting over the plains of his body, the muscles, the random array of tattoos—since when did coffee shop owners look this fucking hot? Like, what did he do before this? But then you’re driving these thoughts away, your hands already moving over his skin—a palm brushing flat over the butterfly at the center of his chest, and it’s almost too much.
You drop to your knees, at eye level, with the leaves inked into his lower abdomen, and you lick your lips, grabbing hold of his waist, a light touch tracing along one side with the tips of your fingers. “Jesus,” you breathe as the leaves disappear into the band of his sweatpants. Before your eyes move any further, you gaze up at Harry. His eyes are trained on you, a lazy smile spreading on his face, and then he laughs.
“If you put those lips around my dick, I swear I’ll only last two seconds. Your touch has already got me so close…” He tells you, bending at the waist to lift your chin, and when he plants his lips to yours, you breathe him in, working yourself back to standing, your mouth never leaving his.
You pull away from the kiss, pressing your hand flat against his chest, needy, pushing him toward the bed, “I could probably get off just by looking at you…” and you both laugh at this, but you’re serious. Everything about him is working you up, and now you’re so turned on that you feel yourself opening for him, your pussy throbbing the entire time you bound up the stairs.
Harry stumbles back onto the bed, sitting at the edge, and brings you between his legs. When he gives your shirt a playful tug, you lift your arms, giving him permission, and he yanks it up, up, up until he’s standing, pulling until you feel the collar of your shirt wisp over the tips of your fingers, then he tosses it to the ground with a smirk on his face—your red lacy bra on full display in the low light of the moon, casting silver light through the window.
When he sits back down on the bed, he draws you toward him again, his hands on your waist, gripping the meat of flesh, a hunger rising up as he buries his face into the hallow between your breast, and when you run your hands through his hair, Harry lets out a soft groan, a puff of heat fanning over your skin, and you bring your face down to the crown of his head, breathing in the smell of his hair.
Harry’s hand moves from your waist to the clasp
of your bra, fidgetting with the hook as he nibbles the tip of your hard nipples through your bra; all you can do is watch, a chill running up your spine, a rush surging through you as soon as your bra comes off, and this is happening, this is real, and when Harry looks up and smiles at you, you need him inside of you—now, desperate for it, desperate for him.
You were ready, that consistent ache between your legs tugging at the pit of your stomach. You wanted him fast and deep; you wanted him to open you up, stretch you so that you would remember, a sore reminder later, a feeling that he was there—leave you reeling, craving more—crave him as you crave him now, like a sweet tooth, one bite never enough.
“Now—” you force, “Now—I need it now,” you tell him, your hands on his shoulder, moving down his chest as you’re pushing him back, and Harry laughs, his body following your command, the muscles in his stomach flexing and relaxing as he lays back on the bed. Then your eyes are drifting down, his grey sweatpants marking the outline of his dick, and it’s joy, pure joy, that giddy feeling tightening your chest, adrenaline shakey at the tips of your fingers as you reach for the elastic waist of his pants.
“I’m so fucking turned on—” he mutters, the words flying out of his mouth, your hands colliding as he helps you ease the pants down, his boxers coming with, catching on his thighs, his dick seconds away from springing free, and harry lifts his leg as you rip off his pants, tossing them across the room with such force, that you can’t help but laugh as Harry’s eyes follow, the pants knocking a picture off the wall, and the frame comes crashing down to the floor with a smash, the sounds of glass shattering fills the room, and Harry doesn’t even flinch because he’s grabbing your face before you can even see the damage.
Harry stands to his feet, one goal in mind, and that was to get you naked, “Still good?” he asks, but you’re too distracted, his rock-hard cock bobbing between the two of you, and when he laughs, it pulses a slight bounce, and it’s like striking gold, your eyes wide, lit with curiosity, every ounce of excitement you felt before hurrying to your needy hands as you reach for his penis, wrapping your hand around his girth, a gasp slipping past your lips as his warmth seeps into the palm of your hand.
The thought was enough before, but the feeling of him in your hand is even better, drawing that hungry to the surface, your mouth watering, and you swallow hard as you rip your eyes away from the dick filling your hand. When you meet Harry’s eyes, you both smile, sharing a knowing look as you nod your head, a late response bubbling up, and then you lick your lips, smoothing them together, contemplating whether or not you’re going to drop back down to your knees, and then you say, “I need you inside me—” gliding your hand down his shaft as Harry sucks a sharp breath through his teeth, the quick sensation of pleasure too much for you both, and he stops your hand mid stoke, his jaw clenching as he squeezes his eyes shut, and when his head falls back, lips parting—You’re losing it.
Without thought, your crawling back onto the bed, pulling at the waistband of your yoga pants, too fucking tight for this situation because it’s taking too long, every movement bringing awareness to your wet pussy, the cold air grazing over your newly exposed skin. Then Harry is helping you tear them past your ass, lifting your hips as his knuckles drag down your legs with the rough effort of ripping them past your ankles.
Never again, you think, never again will you waste time with such a useless fabric as you bring your hand between your thighs, smearing the wetness building within you up your slit, readying yourself. Watching Harry’s mouth gape open when you spread your legs, and god, you are so fucking wet, so fucking horny that you think you’ll explode, and as Harry strokes his dick, his hand moving up and down, you dip your fingers inside, slowly pushing them in, only enough to slick your entrance, then out, and in again, so smooth, open, begging to be filled, to be stretched.
When Harry presses a knee into the edge of the bed, you pull your wet fingers from inside you, making Harry smile. He drops his dick as he climbs onto the bed next to you, him watching as you suck your fingers into your mouth, eliciting a small moan from Harry as he grabs hold of your wrist, your fingers slipping out of your mouth with ease, then Harry is making them his the moment they enter his mouth, his tongue moving over your fingers, then you feel the suction, feel the vibration at the back of his throat when he groans, satisfaction loosening his tight-knit browns.
You can’t take it; that’s when you’re pulling your fingers from his mouth, pushing him back onto the bed, and claiming on top, one swift movement, “Is this okay?” you ask, the thought of asking barely at the forefront of your mind, and when he grabs your hips to line you up, lifting himself to adjusting you both, the answer is evident in the movements because he’s just as desperate, just as needy.
“Is this how you want it?” he asks, and you nod your head, feeling shy suddenly, heat creeping into your cheeks—the exchange of words slowing things down enough to put things into perspective in just a matter of seconds.
“This is good…” you answer, on the verge of second-guessing yourself.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah…” you breathe, straightening your spine, your body relaxing slightly, nervous, but the look on Harry’s face is reassuring you, something telling you he wouldn’t take advantage of the situation.
“Will you tell me if you want to change positions if this is too much…” And he smiles then, a playful smirk as you lean forward, and you press your hand into the bed, next to his head. Your face inches from his.
You laugh then, “I want it to be too much…” you tell him, confident in the fact that no matter what position, it’s going to hurt, so why not have control? Besides, you wanted to watch him come undone, be the reason he’s calling your name.
“Dammit… you’re dangerous…” he laughs, his tone low, a silky rasp in your ear as you drop your mouth to his neck, pressing your lips to his soft skin, breathing him in as your free hand navigates his dick to your opening, the stretch imitate as his tip dips in, and your breath catching as you shove him inside you. Amazed by the force it takes just to inch him in the smallest amount as Harry exhales a heavy breath into your neck, and holy shit, your lack of sex is finally catching up, you think as you push yourself up, your face hovering over his.
“Fuck—” you breathe with a smile, trying not to laugh, and your eyes sweep over his face, your brain taking mental notes of every look of pleasure that has stolen Harry’s features, saving them for later.
“We can go slow?” he says, leaning up to grab hold of your face, a harsh breath leaving your mouth as he presses his lips to yours, his dick inching further in with every moment.
You pull away from the kiss, teetering on pain’s edge as you rest your forehead against his, “Just push into me…” you whisper, lifting your head to look him in the eyes.
“What?” He asks, confused, his eyes searching yours. “I don’t want to hurt you…”
“Let’s just rip the bandaid off—” Then it’s happening. Harry gazes up at you; a moment of hesitation, then he grabs your hips and bucks himself deep inside you, the pain ricocheting through your teeth as you bit down hard, sealing your pained moan behind your lips, and you screw your eye shut, sinking your weight into your hips ceasing any further movement.
“…fuuuuuuuuuuck….” you whisper, your head spinning, dizzy with the thought of his cock buried inside you, like he’s splitting you open, carving out a space for himself. There was no going back after this because this is the kind of dick you dreamed of, the kind of dick you wanted to break you in, claim you, make you theirs, and even if there’s pain now, there’s bliss in the thought of knowing.
“Take your time…” he breaths his voice a strained whisper, and you can tell this is just as painful for him, but in a different way, your walls gripping him tight, and as you release a breath, the pain begins to ease with the thought of exploring the onset of pleasure gradually taking way, the exploitation a vice of its own, and it’s just enough.
And when you open your eyes, there he is, Harry, staring back at you, a look somewhere between concern and pleasure, because then you’re moving your hips, slow, getting used to the feeling of him inside you as Harry grips the meat of your hips, exhaling when you lean back down, to kiss his lips, a warm breath filling your mouth, and there’s the pleasure—you and Harry—chest to chest, two hearts beating as one—then he moving you guys along, planting his feet into the bed, and you wrap your arms around his neck, deepening the kiss.
Harry lifts his hips, grabs hold of your ass, and pushes into you, easing apart your ass cheeks just enough to open you up more, dipping deeper this time, repeating the motion until you’re bouncing up and down in his dick, both of you pushing moans in out of one another mouth, each one louder than before, the sensation overwhelming every sense of your body. Every thrust drives deeper as you feel your body begins to succumb to the pressure building, a knot tightening in your lower belly, and it’s this, this is what you wanted.
All of it.
The sound of satisfaction echos around you, the squeak of the bed, the thud of the wooden headboard banging against the wall, both of your effort playing in tandem, the push and pull—a give and taking until the both of you are forming a rhythm, two bodies playing out like a fucking symphony, every moving part a perfect balance. Then you’re crying out his name, pushing up on his chest until your palms are flush with his dewy skin, and when you lock eyes with his, you nod your head, tilting your hips back and forth, your movements growing desperate, faster, and when you say:
“I’m close,” Harry leans up and wraps an arm around your waist, pulling you down hard, the friction slowing, each moment deeper and deeper.
“How close are you?” He forces
“I’m close—don’t stop…” you plead.
“Fuck…” He breaths, thrusting hard, “So good—”
“Don’t stop—” you beg. “Don’t you dare fucking stop—”
“I’m so close—” he groans, and you slam your hips down, seconds away; just seconds, that’s all you need.
“I’m gunna come…” you force, stealing your orgasm as you grind your hips into his pelvis, your knees stretching as wide as they can, the position limiting, but it’s just enough, and when Harry drives into you again, yelling out your name, it seals your fate, your whole body buckling, and you collapse, your pussy gripping his dick tighter, seizing around the contour of his hard cock as Harry bursts inside you, his pulsing dick the perfect ending as you ride out our orgasm.
And then you’re both catching your breath. Your bodies pressed together, the thud of his heartbeat racing across your lips, your face buried in the crook of his neck now as you nibble a soft bite into the pulse beating under his skin. Harry lets out a breath laugh, cool air sweeping over your damp shoulder, and you don’t move, his dick still inside you, both of you unwilling to part.
When you lift your head, taking in the sweaty glow of his face, you sweep a stray curl from his forehead as a soft smile spreads, his dimple dipping. " Hi,” he whispers, his voice dripping like honey from his lip, and it’s so sweet, kindness emanating through every gentle touch, pouring out into the delicate kiss he plants on your lips as you bask in the afterglow of pleasure.
And it’s strange how quickly your mind just switched gears because now you want to beg for forever, have him hold you in his arms just like this, laugh, tell him he just marked his territory because there’s no going back, you think again, really meaning it, your mind in the dizzying aftermath of pure fucking bliss because now you want to make him fall in love, pray that this was a starting point, pick his brain, ask him what he’s thinking as your thoughts spiral.
All of this running through your mind as you deepen the kiss, Harry holding you tighter, then he breaks away, falling back onto the bed, his body relaxing as he crosses his arms behind his head, and then he smiles, face beaming, “Is it too early to think you may have just locked me down…hopefully you’re okay with that.”
And really, the joke is on him because he doesn’t even know the half of it, so when you send him that sweet little smile, all you can do is laugh, thinking if he only knew, but I guess we’ll find out.
A/N: Happy Valentine's Day! Hope you enjoyed!

summary; as valentines day approaches, you start to receive anonymous declarations of love, only to find out they're sent by the last people you'd suspect
a/n; happy valentines day!! this is my little gift to you all, and i hope you enjoy. i'm gonna go ahead and claim that it's a bit awkward because they're high-schoolers and NOT because i don't know how to write stuff like this jdhfsjhfdj
It was the week before Valentine's Day at Piltover High, and the excitement buzzing through the air was almost palpable. The annual holiday event was in full force, where students were able to send love themed cards to each other, be it anonymous or not.
The hallways were abuzz with giggles and murmurs as students speculated who had sent them cards, who might send them cards, and the reactions of those they had sent them to. Everybody seemed to be deep in the tradition, well, everybody except for you.
You weren't insanely popular, but you weren't not popular. A nice middle ground, some may say. You had been on the cheer squad for a year now, which naturally meant you were higher up on the pyramid of social status compared to the rest of the student body. This wasn't the problem, the problem was that you just weren't interested in anybody.
You told yourself it was a mixture of nobody being interesting enough, and just not having enough time to pursue anybody. If you weren't doing anything cheer related, you were studying. If you weren't doing either of those things, you were spending time with Caitlyn and Vi.
Caitlyn- easily the most popular person at school. Captain of the basketball team, tall and beautiful, and just so nice. Not that fake, only doing this to keep up appearances, nice either, like actually nice. And then there's Vi- breakout star of the hockey team, a little rough around the edges, but so fucking hot. Together, they were the very top of the food chain, everybody's favourite couple, and absolutely unstoppable.
You had been friends with them for a few months now, when you had cheered at one of Caitlyn's games and she couldn't help but watch you the entire time. She just had to talk to you after the game was done, and Vi was on board immediately. All it took was one conversation and it was like you three had been friends for years, and suddenly were inseparable.
The three of you had lunch together every day. Vi would walk you to classes, Caitlyn would walk you to cheer practice, any spare time you had outside of school was almost always spent with them. People had tried to joke about you being their third wheel, but the look that Vi had sent their way had them promptly shutting their mouths. You didn't mind, though. Never at any point did you feel uncomfortable or left out, and you were happy to see your best friends so in love.
What you didn't know, however, is that both Caitlyn and Vi were absolutely smitten with you. Their feelings were small at first, like a small sprout popping up in Spring. That was until you had gone on a week vacation and they realised how much they missed you, and THEN you just had to go and bring them both home a gift- a basketball keyring for Caitlyn and a hockey stick one for Vi- and suddenly the small sprout was a grand oak tree and they just couldn't keep lying to themselves anymore.
They had a long talk between themselves, discovered that they were both on the same page, and started to plan how they would approach the subject. They cared too much to risk jeopardising your friendship by just springing it on you, so they knew that it had to be perfect.
── ⟢
Your eyebrows furrowed as the small card slipped out of your open locker door, fluttering to the ground in front of you. You slipped your textbooks into the locker before kneeling down to pick it up, turning it over in your hands as you stood back up. It was cute, a little doodle of a steaming coffee cup with 'Words cannot espresso how much you mean' written underneath. No name. You let out a soft chuckle and a little shake of your head as you slipped the card into your bag, and didn't think much of it. Probably just one of the girls on the cheer squad sending them to the team.
And then there was another.
'If I could start my life over again, I would find you sooner so that I could love you longer ♡'
"What the fuck.." you mumbled, looking around you to the other students filling the hallway, trying to see if anybody was looking suspicious. Nobody had ever shown an interest in you, not really, so to start suddenly getting valentine's cards was surprising to say the least.
Every day up until the 14th, there was a new card waiting for you. Every day they seemed to get more and more personal, and there was no doubt in your mind that they were meant for you and you alone. The girls on the cheer squad had no idea about it, but they were fawning over the cards that you had gotten, studying each one carefully. When you tried to ask Caitlyn and Vi, they had played it beyond cool.
"Wow, seems you've got yourself a secret admirer, huh? You sure you've not been out there flirting up a storm when we're not around?" Vi had teased you, causing your cheeks to burn as you snatched the card from her with a scoff.
"You don't recognise the handwriting?" Caitlyn had queried, even though it was no use. The messages in anonymous cards were written by the students handing them out for this very reason.
You got the final card on Valentine's day, and although it was the most simple and, well, least romantic, it still caused your stomach to do flips.
'Gym, after school today.'
── ⟢
Being on school grounds after hours was always slightly uneasy. The hallways were silent, your own footsteps echoing along the empty expanse of the building. You stood in front of the doors to the gym, heart racing as you wiped your palms on your jeans and shook the shake out of your hands. With a deep breath, you steeled yourself, and pushed the doors open.
The lights were off, the only source of light in the open room was coming from multiple candles scattered around the floor. In the middle of them was a picnic blanket with a hamper sat neatly on it, a couple of plastic cups tucked beside it. Both Vi and Caitlyn were sat on the bleachers behind, chatting away to each other before the sound of the door closing behind you caught their attention.
"Oh... uh, hi guys" you drawled, voice laced with confusion as you quickly checked over your shoulder before taking a few tentative steps towards them. "Sorry... I didn't mean to interrupt."
Caitlyn stood up, her varsity jacket hanging off her shoulders as she hopped off the bleachers to approach you. "You're not interrupting, don't worry. You're right on time, actually."
That increased your confusion tenfold, and it must have shown perfectly on your face as you watched Caitlyn busy herself with pouring drinks, because Vi's soft laughter was suddenly reverberating through the empty hall.
"Y'know, for somebody with your grades, you aren't all that smart sometimes" she teased, coming up to rest a hand on your shoulder as Caitlyn passes you both a cup of soda.
"Wha- but I don't-"
Your fingers wrap tightly around the plastic cup in your hand as the realisation hits you, and your eyes bounce between the two girls. Vi has a cocky smirk on her face as she sees the gears in your head turning, whereas Caitlyn looks a little nervous as she sips her drink, arms crossed over her chest.
"You sent those cards?"
"We did" Vi affirms, her hand squeezing your shoulder lightly. "Cait said the puns were too cheesy, but I think you liked them anyway, hm?"
You watched as Caitlyn rolled her eyes, even though a hint of a smile was ghosting on her lips. "We had been thinking of how to approach the subject with you for a while, and well, this seemed like the perfect opportunity."
You nodded, eyes flitting down to the picnic blanket on the floor. "And... you did all this.. for me?" you asked quietly, your voice hesitant and still coated with disbelief. Caitlyn took your free hand in hers and gently guided you to the blanket, sitting you down on top of one of the pillows as she sat in front of you, Vi doing the same to your side.
"Of course we did. You're special, Y/n. We care about you a lot, and-" she cuts herself off, playing with your fingers that she's still holding in her hand. "We were hoping you'd feel the same."
Vi clears her throat and shuffled a little closer, lifting a finger to your chin so she can turn your head to look at her. "What Cait is trying to say, is that we like you as more than a friend. This is our way of showing you that, and asking if you want to be something more."
Your heart stopped in your chest, and a warmth had spread across your face as you let everything sink in. It was like being doused in ice-water, the realisation that you did, in fact, feel the same way about them. Your lack of a love life wasn't because you were busy, or because nobody interested you. It's because they had already filled that hole in you, you just hadn't thought about it long enough to see it.
"Wow, I- honestly had no idea" you breathed out, your words coated in an airy laugh. "I mean, looking back at it, of course it seems obvious this is where it headed."
The three of you shared a laugh at that, and you lifted your free hand away from Caitlyn's to rub the back of your neck sheepishly.
"I don't want it to change anything though, not really. I mean, yeah, obviously things will change-" You blush at the thought of kissing them. "-but it won't get like.. weird or anything right?"
The two girls shared a look and set down their drinks, Vi gently taking yours out of your hand too, shuffling closer to you so they were sat on either side.
"Nah, not weird at all" Vi murmured, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear.
"We won't do anything you don't want to, love. We'll take it at the pace you want" Caitlyn affirms, her voice soft yet strong.
They both lean forward and press a soft kiss to your cheeks, and you let your eyes flutter closed as the feeling of being sandwiched between them. For the first time in a long time, you had never felt as at peace.
"Okay then" you whisper into the space in front of you. "I feel the same way, so.. I think we should give it a shot."
"Yeah, sweetheart? Wanna be our girlfriend?" Vi questions in that teasing tone that you love to hate, her lips grazing against your cheek as she speaks. You just nod in response, both girls crushing you in a bone tight hug as relief washes over them.
"Now then" Caitlyn starts after a moment of the three of you basking in each other. She pulls away only to flip the lid of the basket, pulling out various different snack items. "I prepared this specially, and we have a valentine's picnic to dig into."

@groovestrawberry Thank you so much for your words. They mean a lot. Especially because I'm prone to taking stuff way too seriously, so I really appreciate the reminder to just chill tf out. 😅❤️
Right so, onto your questions!
1) the last sentence you wrote
"It didn’t take long for your heart to pick up its frantic rhythm once more, terror seizing you anew at the horrible realization that, who…whatever was chasing you, it had been close enough for you to feel it."
Wrote that only yesterday. 💪
6) the word that appears the most in your current draft
(This is Chapter 4 btw.)
17) talk about your writing and editing process
Oh boy, what to say. Where to start.
I mean, I tend to take things a bit too seriously, as mentioned before. Which means I'll sometimes go over a sentence or paragraph until it no longer makes sense to me, lol. I know it's probably fine as is and ppl are gonna enjoy it anyway, so this is a habit of mine I'm working on. Also because, in my experience, whatever your brain comes up with after you first get your thoughts on paper, it most likely won't be as good as what you first came up with, so you end up going back to the OG anyway. 🤷🏻♀️
So ye, editing ain't fun, but it must be done because I'm really not happy with some of the stuff my old self has come up with. 🙃
As for the writing: This goes hand in hand with editing, actually. First things first though: Music. Most important. If I have a song I can vibe to and it fits the mood and all, then it's going rather smoothly. But, even then, I'm by no means a "fast" writer. Even when vibing, I'm still hyper focused on not making mistakes and especially using the correct tense (something I find surprisingly difficult when you're actually focused on it, lol). So, just like with editing, I'll read over a section a few hundred times before I proceed. I know some say it's more important to just get that first draft done and correct any mistakes after but, honestly? When a chapter is done, I wanna post it, not spend another few hours/days/weeks editing stuff. 🤷🏻♀️
So ye, writing and editing is more or less the same for me because it happens simultanously. Or it will, once I'm done with editing TBRH (The Bumpy Road Home) and things go back to "normal." 😅
What else to say...hm, I guess a few other "quirks" of mine when writing are:
Writing out a piece of dialogue and putting it somewhere on the page to use later because I just know that if I don't do that, whatever I come up with instead (because my ass forgot half of what I originally came up with) won't be as slapping. OG always wins and all. 😉
Pausing to take a breather because I get so immersed in the scene, I actually need a moment to process it. (I read somewhere that someone referred to it as "zoomies." This was more in the sense of reading a fic and coming across a section so damn good, you need a moment to process it. But, sometimes, this is very much the case for writers too. 🫠)
Looking up images, videos etc. of the ppl or things I'm writing about. For Chapter 4 of TBRH, the Denali house was my trusty companion. Just chilling in the background (aka: another tab), lol.
Starting on another scene even though I haven't finished the current one because I just need to know what happens next. (Yes, I'm aware I'm the writer.)
Well, that's all I can come up with for the moment. I'm sure there's more and maybe I'll post it at some point. ✌️

Hi DD! I'm about mid-way through the most complex writing project I've ever done (several stories with some red thread storylines progressing in the background, so a sort of interwoven structure). I have an outline of the major plot beats, but the problem is, I've gotten about 2/3 of the way through, and this is where I've started to have trouble bringing my many threads together. The further I go, the the harder keeping it all clear and elegant becomes. Any advice for working at this stage?
It may seem counterintuitive, but once I'd found myself in a situation like this, I would immediately start working backwards.
It's difficult to describe what I mean here except semi-graphically—sort of in terms of one of those strings-pinned-to-the-wall diagrams so familiar to a lot of us from the various evidence-wall memes.
If we're imagining your present as-yet-unconnected threads as more or less progressing left to right, I would "stick pins in them" at their current furthest range and then move straight out to the far right side of the diagram.
For each thread I would then get busy establishing a detailed "end state" for the work: meaning a sense of what you want each of those through-line of plot to look like when you're done in terms of characters, situations, etc. I'd make very sure that all the major through-lines were covered, and (in passing) take a long look at how they'll stand in relationship to one another when all the action's finished.
Then I would start working back along each line toward the center of the matrix—looking to see what the next-to-last thing was that needed to happen to produce the final result on a given through-line. And then the third-to-last. ...And so forth.
I would try to work through the whole set of through-lines for each given step or stage before progressing any further backwards—unless, of course, some leap of logic occurs that makes an obvious connection between two different through-lines, or an earlier stage in the same TL that hadn't been obvious before.
(Is this making sense? God, I hope so.)
My experience with this kind of situation in the past is that it doesn't take too long before, on one or two of the lines you're constructing backwards, you'll hit something fairly major that somehow hadn't come up for consideration previously, or had simply slipped or fallen off the structural "radar" because so much other stuff had been going on around it. That event or piece of data, once perceived, will very often either immediately connect itself back to one or more of the "pinned" through-lines, or promote one of the other incomplete ones into growing connections to other adjacent lines of plot material. It's a little like watching neural tissue developing alternate pathways for itself after an injury.
...Anyway, give this approach a shot and see how it works for you. There are times when simply the act of reversing direction on the plot build will shake something loose in the business surrounding the building-it-forward part. It's worth a try to see what happens.
Hope this helps!

*.⊹˚ SYLUS | surprise dinner (valentine's day)
── ◜sylus x fem!reader — ◜short special | specials from the rest of the LIs on my profile
Everything had gone wrong. From the moment she woke up that morning she must have known that everything was going to go wrong.
First it started with her alarm going off. She woke up two hours later than she was supposed to and had missed the delivery time for the dessert she had ordered. It was a famous and expensive bakery, they had been very strict when they said that if she didn't arrive on time or at least half an hour later she wouldn't receive her order. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
She thought maybe she could convince them to change their minds, but on her way to the bakery, her car's tire had gone flat. She ended up taking it to a garage and took a taxi back to home.
As if the day hadn't been bad enough. The dinner she had in mind also went wrong. She had burned a significant portion of the meal and didn't have time to start over. Around 5pm she had called Sylus to tell him that they couldn't meet that day because she had a problem. Lies and lies.
Sylus didn't say anything to her except that he understood and hung up. In her mind she was relieved that he hadn't been upset about ruining their first Valentine's Day. In Sylus' mind it was a different story. He had noticed her shaky voice because he know the way her voice sounded different after crying. Something was wrong.
It was already quite late when she returned home after searching for her favorite ice cream in three different stores. She couldn't even be sad in peace because she hadn't found the stupid ice cream.
Sylus had sent her a text while she was out but she wasn't sure what it meant. See you tonight. When she asked what it meant she got no reply. They weren't supposed to have a date until tomorrow, she had called him a couple of hours ago and he said it was fine.
When she got home everything was dark, she was almost sure that she had left more than one light on. She hated coming home and tripping over everything, plus her cat was always walking around. She walked in the darkness until she saw a flash of light shining in the dining room. She walked slowly and felt the air escape from her lungs.
He was there.
But he wasn't just there. He had prepared dinner, the room was dimly lit by the candles and everything was perfectly arranged. How had he done that in such a short time?
"Sy…" She felt the bag with the ice cream slip from her fingers. Her lips were parted and she felt like she couldn't breathe. Her eyes stung with tears.
"I got some information," he started speaking, setting something down on the table before walking over to her. "About the things that went wrong for you today."
She narrowed her eyes, confused, but it didn’t take her long to realize what he was talking about. Had Mephisto been following her? She had been distracted for most of the day, but not enough for her not to have noticed a black crow following her.
"I thought our date would be tomorrow," she said once the urge to cry had settled a little.
"I can leave if you want," he joked, closing the distance between them. She felt his arms wrap around her, and a shiver ran down her spine.
Maybe she had overreacted by canceling all her Valentine’s Day plans because of how badly her day had gone. But that afternoon, when she had sat on the couch, replaying everything that had gone wrong, she had felt awful—too drained to even get up and get ready.
"No." She shook her head quickly, her hand sliding up to the back of his neck, fingers threading into his hair and tugging gently. "You didn’t have to do this," she murmured, feeling Sylus’ breath against her face.
"Stop saying that." He tightened his hold on her hips. He would do anything for her—he had told her that over and over again.
She rose onto her tiptoes, brushing her lips against his one last time before she couldn’t hold back any longer. Finally, she kissed him. The urge to cry rushed back for a few seconds. She had given up—had accepted that her first Valentine’s Day with her boyfriend was going to be a complete disaster.
But now she was here, in Sylus’ arms, feeling how perfectly his lips fit with hers. A gasp escaped from her lips when she felt Sylus start to move backward, making her follow. Her back hit the wall, but his hand was already there, stopping her from hurting herself.
When she finally pulled away from his lips, her breathing was slightly unsteady. She could barely see anything in the dimly lit room, the candles on the dining table casting a warm, romantic glow. When she first met Sylus, it had been… an unconventional beginning. She never would have thought he was the type of person to prepare an entire dinner without her knowing, surprising her when she got home. A lot had changed since then, but she knew a different Sylus now.
"Come here. We can eat your ice cream after dinner."
She let out a little laugh, remembering the bag with over a liter of ice cream she had brought home, planning to eat it while crying over her ruined plans. She picked up the grocery bag that had slipped from her fingers, feeling Sylus intertwine his with hers as he guided her to the dining table.
She was still too dazed to say anything. She just let him pull out the chair for her, set the silverware, and… she was almost sure he had cooked everything himself, not just bought it from some restaurant. After all these years, she had learned to recognize the little details that made it clear when he was the one who had cooked.
The Sylus she had first met might never have done something like this—at least, that’s how he had seemed. But the Sylus she knew now? He would do anything for her.

I ran up against this with a couple of friends of mine about seven years ago, around the same time as I first started to realize that I might be some kind of undiagnosed kind of neurodivergent. They'd needed a ride to an appointment and I drove them; following the appointment, which had yielded some unexpected but great news (for which I offered sincere and enthusiastic congratulations), one of them asked me if I was hungry, and I answered honestly that I had already eaten breakfast, so I was fine.
Wrong answer, apparently. The question she asked may have sounded like "are you hungry?" because those were the precise words that she used, but apparently she actually meant, "I've just gotten some good news and I want to celebrate it with food somewhere.” Both of my friends got extremely upset with me for shitting on her good news and ruining the day. Meanwhile, there I was, wondering what the actual fuck I had done to make them so mad at me. She’d asked a question and I had answered it honestly. I had failed to discern the unspoken question behind it, and as a result, I very nearly lost two of my closest friends. The drive back to their place was incredibly awkward and when I was on my way back home, I received a lengthy text from the other one detailing exactly how terrible a friend I was for ruining her wife’s morning and how horrible I’d made her feel with my thoughtlessness. It was a very long time before we really managed to patch things up. Even so, we’re still not as close as we used to be.
I still don’t really understand why “good at communication” has to automatically equate to “doesn’t say what they mean and gets upset when you take their words at face value.”
Allistic people really need to stop phrasing requests as questions because it's fucking with me
"Do you want to help me cook dinner?"
No, I'm still overwhelmed from earlier and want to stay in my room.
"well fine, dinner will be ready when it's done." And now they're upset with me
And I'm just here like ???????

AN:To be honest I don't feel like a did a good job here, but things are what they are. So I hope you can enjoy this too because was supposed to be a Valentine´s special and also a way to celebrate Rosé's latest birthday.
It was another day in your opinion, a normal day. Well, maybe not that normal. But with what has been going on in your life, and especially in your relationship with your girlfriend, you aren't sure if you should be celebrating anything. Anyways when you keep repeating to yourself that it is a normal day you still got this stupid heart shaped box of chocolates and a red rose.
“It's just a detail.” You whisper to yourself. And yes, you're right. This detail is the least you can do on this day, a day that is supposed to be happy and cheerful; but instead feels different.
After a long minute of cavitation you put the key on the lock and open the door to your shared apartment with your girlfriend. You're coming back from a long ass night shift and you're sure your girlfriend is still sleeping since there are some hours left till she has to work, so chocolates gonna have to wait. But instead of silence, what you find inside the apartment is the good smell of eggs and bacon being fried. The sizzle sound of food over the pan is what greets you, a sound that you aren’t used to hearing.
Not that your girlfriend is disconsiderate, but she isn’t the type to do these details very often. She cooks, yeah, as long as you do since both of you are grown adults. But the times she has prepared a special meal for you during all these years, can be counted with the fingers of a hand; and maybe those are more fingers than what you actually need to count.
“Babe, you come back early” Your girlfriend says, raising her voice over the sizzling sound. “I can’t let this right now or it will burn.”
“Yeah, they let me come home earlier.” You say approaching the kitchen. “Something big was happening and they wanted the whole day shift there to be an hour early, so I had nothing to do the-.” That last word was cut out of your mouth since you finally saw your girlfriend.
Rosé was holding the pan with a hand and using the other to move what she was cooking with a big wooden spoon; but that was far from making her look any less spectacular than she was looking. To be fair she always looks fantastic, she is very beautiful, with soft features and a button nose that is the envy of all of her friends. But what caught your attention was that she was wearing makeup, done all natural but still make up. Just red lipstick, some mascara on her eyelashes and a bit of blush on her cheeks. What was more spectacular was the fact that she did her hair that morning. Her golden locks were curled into ringlets that fell till barely touched her shoulders, giving her hair a lot of volume.
Also her pajama was different to what she usually wears. This time was a two piece set, all pink and with hearts here and there. The shorts were small, letting you see her long silky legs in all of their glory. The top was also small, revealing her arms as well as a prominent portion of her chest and her tummy.
Rosé was just too beautiful standing there in the kitchen, so out of place making breakfast for you, clearly overdressed for the assignment. Even the fact that you could see her buns shyly appearing under the shorts couldn't make you not focus on how damn beautiful your girlfriend was that morning.
“I wanted to give you a surprise since I have to work today.” Rosé smiles shyly looking at you. “You know, since it’s a special day.” Suddenly your chocolates and rose feel very stupid and almost nothing compared with what she’s doing for you.
“Wow! You're amazing.” You hug her from behind and kiss her cheek. “But you haven´t to. You have to work and you still woke up earlier to do your hair and all this.” Even the smell of her hair was fantastic, and now you could feel she put perfume on too. “I just gave you this.” You present to her what you bought for her, happy that that kid had been selling those things on the street. Because you didn’t have the dignity to walk into a store to buy something from your girlfriend, instead you just brought it for a few bucks from a kid on the street that was selling those packs. You aren’t even sure if the rose is real or made out of plastic.
“Aaaaawww!! But this are fantastic.” Rosé reach back to kiss you in the cheek. “ Thank you Babe.”
After some exchange of kisses and words charged with love, breakfast was ready and you two sat to eat what your girlfriend just cooked. The meal was simple but delicious, something that were really needing to recover all your strength after a busy night. And having breakfast with her made it even better. But the best part came after you finished eating and she told you there was also a especial dessert just for you. You were expecting a cheesecake or something like that, anything far from Rosé sitting in your lap and kissing you.
“I’m your dessert.” She said with her raspy deep voice charged with lust, while she was rubbing her nose with yours. “You can eat all you want.”Although it wasn't what you were thinking, this dessert was much better. So you just grab her tinny waist and glue your lips to hers, this time with much more desire than when you did it earlier in the kitchen.
Soon Rosé’s hands are over you, and yours are exploring under the hem of her shirt. Even on this day there was no time for more romantic things, maybe latter but not now, so your finger crawl under the fabrics till you reach her small tiddies. Her nipples get hard under your touch while you both put more hunger into the kiss.
A moan is muted into your mouth when you pinch one of her sensitive buds and rolled it into your fingers. Rosé have the need to sit properly over you, and in some way she do it without needing to pull her body from yours. Now her legs are falling from each side of the chair, and the tip of her feet are barely touching the ground.
“Don’t leave a mark or they gonna make fun of me at work.” She said while you were kissing and sucking the sweet spot of her neck. Her hands run across your abdomen and your lower back, her touch is a mixture between being gentle and scratching your skin with her long nails. If she leaves marks on you no one is gonna see it.
Since the dessert is being that good you grow hungry and need more, more of her, more of your girlfriend, so you lift her and put her over the tablet. Plates are made a side leaving enough space for her. Your next move is to pull her shirt and leave her torso naked. Rosé small but beautiful breasts make you salivate. Her tiny nipples are so hard right now that you think you could lose an eye if she stabs you with them, but that doesn't stop you from sucking them. Those small hard buds are worth the risk, and the way Rosé moans when your tongue hits one of them is a melody to you.
She palm your erection over your pants while making a mess with your hair, and you do the same with her crotch. Your fingers run up to her silky leg, crossing for her thighs that are open specially for you, and ended reaching the center of her legs. You can feel your girlfriend’s arousal because her pajama is already sticky, which lets you also know that she isn’t wearing any underwear under the garment. But what was the point of wearing panties If she already knew they were gonna end up being a hindrance for what she planned. The only shame is that her cute pajamas will be stained with all of her juices, and of course you're working to make that happen.
While your mouth keeps the attention over her breast your fingers work extra time over Rosé’s clothed folds, making her whimper and moan over the table. She’s already a mess and you think you can make her come just by keeping doing what you´re doing, but she has different plans. Rosé lifts your shirt and you’re forced to take a step back and raise your arms to help her to undress you, but when the garment is gone and rests in the ground with her shirt you’re determined to come back to work between her legs. So you kill the distance between you two, but when your hand is reaching her thigh Rosé stops you. You don’t know what happens and look for a response, but when your eyes meet hers she’s staring at you with ice in her eyes.
“Babe what-” But you never get to ask the question because she pushes you back and gets off the table.
“Who made those?” Rosé points to some scratches in your chest, and you immediately know you're doomed. “I can’t believe it.” Her voice sounded cracked. “ You're cheating on me, again.”
“Babe, this is not what you think.” You try to reach her but she pushes you back. “I made this at work last night.”
“Do I look like a fool to you? There is no way you made those at work, those are nails marks.” Rosé suppressed a sob. “ Oh my god! You cheated on me with Lisa. That bitch always tries to mark what don´t belong to her.”
“Nooo, that’s not.” You try to deny all but honestly you aren’t doing a good job here. “Believe me when I say I made those marks at work.”
“Stop lying. Unless you cheat me with a man, that is impossible.” She takes a step back to put more distance with you. “ Can believe it. You said you would change.” She tries to suppress another sob and suddenly an idea crosses her mind. “If you wanna prove yourself, get your dick out.”
“What? How that gonna help?” You don’t want to but her stare is severe, she’s stabbing you with her eyes. You wish she would be doing it with her nipples instead. “Ok, fine.” You obey and let your parts fall followed by your boxers.
Rosé immediately falls into her knees in front of you and starts smelling your dick. Your shaft isn't hard because of the small fight but that doesn’t stop her from grabbing it with her fingers and putting it in her mouth. After a few bows of her head and lick your meat your girlfriend is in her feet again, and you don’t understand what is happening.
“That’s definitely Lisa’s smell and taste, is all over your filthy dick. You didn’t even took a shower after fucking that bitch.” She makes a disgusting face knowing that she just sucked Lisa’s pussy juices from your cock.. That’s why you came home earlier, because you where fucking her instead of working.”
“Ok, fine. I was with her last night. But you know what?” You were done pretending. “ I had a lot of fun, and not only fucked her pussy.”
“Idiot. I’m not enough for you anymore? After all I did for you?” Rosé is close to you but only to push your chest trying to vent her anger on you. OH my god! I’m so stupid.” She put a hand over her forehead.” Jennie told me this would happen again and I didn’t listen to her.”
“You didn’t let me touch you for weeks. I was horny and she was there for me. What did you expect me to do?”
“Talk to me, you fucking idiot. That is what a normal person would have done. But you had to run to her arms.And.. And…”
“And what?. Don’t act like you're better than me.” You are getting angry too.” Aren’t you forgetting to tell me why you know so well her pussy taste? Don’t you think I don’t know you cheated on me with her too?”
“How…” Suddenly all the anger disappeared from Rosé’s face. “That was just a few times, months ago, after I caught you with your dick inside of her.”
“But you still did it, and didn’t tell me anything.” Now Rosé is more concerned than angry. “ Wanna know how I know? Lisa has some videos of you eating her out. Yes, you're on your knees eating her holes like the bitch you’re.” You look for your phone and hand it to your girlfriend. “Look, you can tell that isn’t you.”
Rosé’s expression now is fully charged with disgust. In your phone is playing a video of her eating Lisa in an undetermined place, all you can hear are Lisa’s moans and praise to your girlfriend. You don’t need to see the video to know that on more than one occasion Rosé’s face is shown.
“Ok, yeah, I did it. But that makes us even, you didn’t need to cheat on me again.” Her anger is coming back.
“Yes, I didn't need it. But I was horny and an occasional blowjob wasn’t helping anymore. I thought you were cheating on me.”
“Oh My god! Don't try to push this on me. This is your fault, you idiot just needed to wait just one more night. “ She clearly sees the confusion on your face because you don’t know what she's talking about. “ Wanna know why I wasn’t fucking you? It was because of this.”
Instead of tell you something you see how Rosé pull her shorts down her legs and kick it away. You don’t what is happening but you see her turn back and, for your surprise, spread her butt. And there you find out what she was trying to show you, because there in middle of her ass crack you could see a gem. This is why I wasn´t fucking you, I was trying training to get your dick in my ass.” Rosé lets go her cheeks and now is looking at you again. “I was jealous because Lisas’s ass is so open that she can take anything. I just wanted to give you the same, so I keep it in secret to not ruin the surprise.”
“But Babe.” You can´t believe you just ruined everything. ”You didn’t need to do it. I was happy fucking your tight butt, even when you just could take a few inches.”
“But I did it. And now I need to find someone else to enjoy my ass.”
You two look so stupid arguing in the middle of your apartment, totally naked, that this would be hilarious if it wasn't because Rosé is implying she’s breaking with you.
“Come on. How I was supposed to know? This is your fault too.”
“Don’t. I was making something for you and you just ruined it, as always.”
“Well you could help me a little too. Our relationship is fucked up because of you too. This breakfast is the first nice thing you did for me in months, and I’m tired too.” You finally get out of your pants to close the distance with Rosé. “Don’t act like this is all my fault.”
Your girlfriend, maybe still she’s your girlfriend, cross her arms and give you her back. “I’m not talking with you anymore. Please take your belongings and leave the apartment.” But far from doing what she said you take your chance and grab one of her sweet little cheeks. “Get your hands out of me!”
“Don’t act like you don't love me anymore.” You notice how even with her protest Rosé doesn't do anything to take your hand off of her ass. “You cheated more times than me, so let's call this a draw and see if your little training gave fruits.” Your hand is still in her butt, so you move it to pass one of your fingers over her ass crack.
“Get off.” Rosé’s arms are still crossed but she moves quickly to put her hands on her mouth when you pull the toy in her butt just a little. Even when she tried, that moan was hard to hide. “Maybe we can make a deal.” You palm her ass and give her a little spank. “No more cheating. I need you to make a promise.”
“Ok, I promise it. No more cheating, I’m not fucking Lisa or anyone; just you. But you have to promise it too.”
She swallows heavily before talking, maybe because your fingers are on the toy again. “Fine. No more cheating, just you and me.” Not even Rosé finished pronouncing those words when you pull the plug half out of her ass, which grants you a loud moan. “Stop playing and just fuck me.” Now the tone of her voice is so different, she’s needy. You’re needy too, more needy for her than ever. Even when you just unloaded your balls inside Lisas’s butt last night, now you need to do the same with your girlfriend.
Not losing time you handed Rosé to the tablet and bent her over. Her sweet little but round ass is shown to you in all of its glory. You can’t not compare Rosé’s small proportion with the fat ass you were smacking last night, obviously Lisa is bigger but there is something so special about the ass you have in front of you. The curves are so perfect, even when it is small you can resist Rosé's butt; it is just so attractive to you.
“Hurry up, I still have to go to work.” Her words take you out of the trance you were admiring her ass. So you take one of her cheeks and spread it while your other hand is in the toy. With one single long but slow movement you take out the plug from Rosé’s butt. Her anus remains agape for a second before regaining its original form. For this position you also can see how her lips are glistening again, how a few pearls of her juices are gathering in her folds. “You want me? Then spread that ass for me.” You guide her hands to her cheeks and she obediently spreads them.
You know that now your girlfriend is more used to taking things up her butt, but you still don´t wanna be that rude so you get on your knees and press your face to her ass. Your tongue landed in her anus and immediately started playing over the wrinkled entrance. You put a lot of saliva there, making her ass slippery and shiny, making it ready to take your meat. With gentle pushes of your tongue Rosé’s anus allows you inside, but just a little, which tells you she was serious with her secret training.
When Rosé’s ass is all shiny and covered in your saliva you tease it with your middle finger and then with a gentle push your tip go inside your girlfriend. Never before has been that easy for you to put a finger in her ass, normally that took you a lot more work and preparation. So if she can take a finger so easily, maybe two is not too much too, and you're right because a second finger goes inside. This time you can feel her anus tensing and being stretched around your fingers, plus you can hear a lot more moans from Rosé’s pretty mouth. “Your ass is so open for me and I haven’t put my dick there yet.”
“So hurry up and put your fat cock inside my butt. I don’t have all day.” Rosé shakes her ass as a protest.
“If you are so desperate.” You take your finger from her entrance and put it in your mouth, tasting the delicious flavor of her insides for a brief time. Then you align your cock tip with her anus and press it against her. The intrusion of your shaft inside her butt is accompanied with a loud moan from Rosé. Almost half of your length goes inside your girlfriend without problems, much more than the usual but still not close from what Lisa can take. “Your ass is so loose now. But you know what? Lisa can take more.”
“Oh my god! Don’t mention that bitch now.” Rosé releases her cheeks and instead grabs the table with both hands. “Start moving, I can take all your stinky dick.” As if she were challenging you, your girlfriend moves her ass back to put a bit more of your cock inside of her. “Just fuck me.”
“Maybe next time we can use Lisa’s pussy juices ass lube for your ass.” With that provocation being said your hands find Rosé’s waist and without warning you take a few inches of your dick out of her ass, just to immediately began fucking her. With each thrust your cock enters a little further into Rosé's tight anus.
Rosé was about to protest but you clearly can see she's struggling with having her ass being fucked, so all she manages to do is moan and breath heavily. You feel how her wrinkled entrance stretches a little more as more of your penis enters her ass, still with all that training her tight anus is fighting to let you in. Rosé is a mess and even when you can't see you know her folds are all wet and shiny with her own slick. “Are you sure you can take me? You're still not stretched enough.” That was just a provocation to see how she reacts.
“Oh my god! I can!” Rosé says between moans. “Just go easy on me.”
“Weren't you telling me to hurry up?” With a long thrust you go the deeper you have ever been inside Rosé’s butt, just letting a few inches out. She’s moaning like crazy, holding the table so tight that her knuckles are turning white. You can see how a shiver runs through her spine but instead of complaining your girlfriend asks for more, and you push your cock further inside her ass.
When your pelvis finally reach her cheeks you can’t help but compare her little butt with the big and round ass you where fucking a fee hours ago. In fact Lisa’s is bigger, rounded, and softer than Rosé’s, but finally being able to fuck your girlfriend ass means something to you. She did this to you and you are paying her with the best anal sex of her life.
You took Rosé’s leg and put it over the table, so now she’s more spread out for you. The new angle allows you to fuck her harder, with your pelvis hitting her butt in every thrust and making a clap sound. You wish she would be telling you hoe good are you fucking her tight ass, but all Rosé can do is moan and whimper while your meat goes as deep as you can inside her anus.
She must be tired of supporting her weight in one leg, but you are not gonna let her go until you’re finished. After all she was the one who asked for you to fuck her ass, and you don’t want to waste all the prep she did. But her ass is still tight, not loose like Lisa, and that’s giving you a lot of pleasure.
Your pace is fast and you fuck Rosé’s little asshole without stop until you feel your balls are arching, demanding to let it go all of your cum, and you can’t hold it anymore. With your dick throbbing inside Rosé’s ass you unload your balls inside of her. The way she’s shaking tells you that probably she’s having her climax too, but you don’t care about that now. All you can think is to shoot until the last drop of your cum in your girlfriend rectum.
When your balls are finally empty you slowly take your dick from Rosé’s butt, and when your tip gets off her she releases a loud moan in some way protesting because of the emptiness that her ass is feeling.
Now you're so tired and your legs can hold you anymore, so you let yourself fall into the same chair you were sitting while eating breakfast, practically panting for all the effort you put into fucking your girlfriend asshole. Rosé for her part is still in the same position, holding the table and with a leg up; also panting. From where you are you can see how her anus is still closing, and how your cum is dripping from her insides coming all the way down through her pussy and legs.
