Shamura design for AU

Why I have a special interest in Shamura and why I chose certain design features can be read if you open the post in full

— Why Shamura? —

It started with the banal: Knowledge is close to me. As a result, my AU Shamura turned out to be quite similar to me in terms of views and feelings of the world, so I put special emphasis on them (this does not mean that I forgot about the rest of the bishops, in fact, I like all of them).

— Design —

My friend and I assumed that the name ‘Shamura’ has an Indian vibe. I spent some time studying the Indian gods, coming to the conclusion that Shamura somehow resembles Indra in my AU. In addition, ‘Shamura’ sounds like ‘Shakra’, which translates from Sanskrit as ‘mighty’ and is one of the names of Indra.

From this, I decided that it was worth focusing on the Indian style of clothing: collar, ‘dress’, wide trousers. Shamura also has lush curly hair, which is more likely a reference to Kali.

Four hands also refer to Indian mythology: gods are often depicted with two or more pairs of hands.

Features

Shamura from my AU has slightly unnatural, as if constrained movements. The facial structure suggests that expressing emotions will be difficult, since before receiving the crown, Shamura was very stingy about expressing emotions (they did not know how to express them)

Speaking of AU, I want to note that, according to my ideas, references to religions existing in our world are divine features, such as two pairs of hands. That is, before receiving the crown, Shamura, like all humanoid creatures (if they do not have any anomalies), has two hands.

However, the second pair of eyes is an atavism, not a divine feature. They were blind in their mortal lives.

Symbolism

There are some symbols on the clothes, I changed them regarding the game, but each of them plays a different role:

— You may notice that there is an emphasis on double stripes on clothes — this is duality, to some extent, disunity, but I prefer to keep silent about the context.

— The crescent moon sounds more obvious: it is an alchemical symbol meaning the moon or silver. In the future, if there is a desire, I will note that this is a ‘paired’ symbolism with Kallamar, which in turn bears the symbol of the sun / gold.

— A circle with six stripes means the process.

— The cross, a symbol that is present in the game itself, is present in Shamura and Leshy — the closing links of the chain.

AH SHIT HERE WE GO AGAIN

Excluding the Tyler tortured issue which is now repeated like a mantra ignoring the fact that the worst murderers in the world had a horrible experience when they were young so if you are a victim you can also become an executioner.

But still, are you sure we are the ones who need to review the Addams Family products?

Because it seems to me that not to know the subject is you

•Any real fan of the freaky family would know that Wednesday isn't put off by the giant, serial killing monster. The only thing that bothers her is the perceived betrayal and the fact that she was bested. She feels like a fool, and it was a blow to her pride. She even ACTUALLY says: "I guess I have a type."

In fact, in the context of the Netflix series, Wednesday is actually afraid of the monster she kills in the town of Jericho.

Although Wednesday may seem indifferent to many situations because of her cynical personality and her inclination not to fear anything (unless it is related to psychological pain or a threat to her autonomy), at a critical moment, the monster killer becomes a real physical threat to her and her loved ones.

Her reaction to these threats is mixed.

Wednesday is not afraid in a “traditional” way, but her goal is always to discover the truth, which implies a certain degree of vulnerability.

I don't feel like talking about other versions of Wednesday because the point is only Jenna's, but I'm just going to do it for informational purposes.

Wednesday Addams, since her creation by Charles Addams, has never been a character who “loves” murderers or violence for its own sake.

However, she is fascinated by the intellect of murderers and their psychology, especially when it comes to understanding them as complex, enigmatic, and out-of-the-box figures.

This does not imply an admiration for their actions, but rather a kind of intellectual detachment that allows her to look at these crimes with a macabre curiosity typical of her character.

In the 1991 film The Addams Family and the 1993 sequel, Wednesday, played by Christina Ricci, is certainly a creepy and dark character, but she cannot be said to be a fan of murder or violence.

Rather, in the film, there is a kind of admiration for darkness, mystery, and “nonconforming” behavior in general.

Indeed, Wednesday seems to be more interested in defying social conventions than in pursuing any kind of passion for murder.

And above all, let us remember that Wednesday herself was the first one who wanted to rescue Uncle Fester from the clutches of Debbie (who was a husband-killer)

However, the violence that Wednesday shows is not for its own sake or for reasons shown in the screen.

When Wednesday and the rest of her family participate in games or activities that would not normally have a positive meaning, such as playing “hide-and-seek” or using a toy lily pad, the violence or danger is more a form of expression of her rebellion and distorted view of the world, rather than an actual “obsession” with murderers.

While returning to the Netflix series Wednesday, Ortega's character continues to be portrayed as someone who has a detached and intellectual relationship with violence.

It is not that Wednesday loves murderers, but she finds them mentally fascinating.

This aspect is clearly visible in her approach to the serial monster terrorizing the town of Jericho.

Wednesday finds herself involved in trying to understand the identity and motivation of the monster, but she does not do so out of a form of admiration for the murder, but rather out of her own intellectual interest and a desire to solve the mystery.

Wednesday then, becoming attached to loved ones like Enid or Eugene, it becomes clear that she does not want ninete to deal with a criminal like hyde.

But let us not forget that in this version of Wednesday is a vigilante (so she hates murderers in this respect).

Wednesday's character, both in the Netflix series and in previous adaptations, is not “a lover of murderers” as might appear from a superficial reading. Rather, her fascination with violent actions has always been more intellectual than emotional, a reflection of her curiosity about the darkness of human behavior and her inability to feel part of a society she does not understand. In this, Wednesday stands out as a character who prefers to observe and analyze rather than act with passion or out of pure pleasure.

•Were not actual fans of the Addams family before this series came out.

Absolutely incorrect

Indeed, the Addams family was conceived primarily as a social satire and a critique of the bourgeois conventions of the era in which it was introduced, not as a depiction of a criminal or psychopathic family.

The Addams family was never intended to be an example of criminal behavior. Rather, the members of the family have always been comic and grotesque exaggerations of characters who, while living outside social conventions, actually represent a kind of critique of bourgeois society and its values.

In Wednesday's case, for example, her “disturbing” behavior or her inclination to treat death with irony were never presented as evil or immoral acts, but rather as resistance to a society that appeared to her to be banal, hypocritical and self-righteous.

Her family, however bizarre, was always a parody of the traditional family ideal, and was designed to challenge the idea of what was “normal” or “right” in social conventions.

Another key point is that despite their creepy appearance and “unconventional” lifestyle, the members of the Addams family are deeply kind, polite, and considerate, even toward authority figures such as law enforcement.

For example, in the 1994 movie Gomez asks the police for help, or in the worthy 1960s series, the Addams couple bring in policemen trying to befriend them.

Their kindness to anyone, even “strangers” who find them bizarre, is an important part of their charm. These are not dangerous people, but a family that is not afraid to be themselves and makes no distinction between social conventions and their own natural inclination to live outside the rules.

This apparent hypocrisy toward societal norms is one of the most interesting dynamics of the Addams family: they live outside the “normal,” but they are never violent or evil. Instead, they are a reflection of a society that may seem conventional, rigid, and self-righteous, while they embody a freedom of expression and a rejection of social hypocrisies. Their kindness, compassion, and love for others is a direct criticism of a society that often does not do the same, judging and stigmatizing those who are different.

To reduce them to “criminally insane” while ignoring the enormous background they have is really sad

It should not be forgotten that the Addams family, in its first appearances in comic books (1938), was used as a vehicle to challenge social stereotypes. Wednesday, for example, is a character who does not conform to the image of the “good girl” or the “innocent child,” but on the contrary challenges the concepts of innocence and polite behavior while remaining totally non-evil. The Netflix series merely continues this spirit, but with a more modern context.

The Addams family is, after all, an adaptable family whose “eccentric” nature allows for endless reinterpretations. The social critique they represent and their ability to challenge traditional values are aspects that never change, regardless of the artistic forms or mediums in which they appear.

We therefore repeat

Their “eccentricity” and behavior outside the rules have always been a tool for critiquing hypocritical society, not a celebration of violence or anti-social behavior.

So we can well understand that Wednesday is not akin to being with psychopaths or murderers, we should perhaps read less fanfiction and study the publishing and cultural history of the Addams family better before making these kinds of posts

Oh and since this user talks about the fact that "we forgot about the original content of the Addams Family" it shouldn't be well remembered as in the 60's series, Gomez and Morticia often make friends with ordinary people but, for the sake of satire and comedy, they always make everyone run away in fear, but the 2 spouses are genuinely good.

Specifically Morticia who makes friends with old ladies where they talked about feminism, or Gomez who, trying to solve a problem with another parent had to ask Wednesday to apologize for a punch given to a boy older than her.

So it is not so strange if many Wenclair fans (like me) like to think of the fact that the Addams would have no problem accepting Enid.

Nothing personal against the person who made this post but honestly certain stereotypes about the Addams family really lead you to totally wrong thoughts.

On Your Left! — Changes to Captain America Fandom Tags

We here at End OTW Racism oppose this decision.

Not only is this inconsistent with their existing policies, but it’s also unnecessary, unasked-for, and causes issues for those already writing about Sam Wilson as Captain America. 

Primarily, we’re concerned that there are many Sam Wilson fans and many MCU fans of color in the comments declaring that they oppose this decision, which raises questions: who asked for this? How did this become such a pressing concern that it needed to happen now? Who decided this? Given the cultural context of pushback against having Black actors cast in roles originated by white actors, including the #NotMyCap movement, this decision seems to cater to the worst of fandom, further marginalizing stories about Black characters and treating stories about white characters as the “neutral default.”

We, the team behind End OTW Racism, wanted to speak on this issue not because we’re personally invested in the MCU fandom, but because we wanted to use this opportunity to highlight how AO3 specifically (and the OTW generally) makes institutional decisions that uphold racist biases, perhaps without even intending to do so. We’re also concerned at the lack of transparency behind this decision - there is no indication how or why this decision has been made, nor by whom and what spurred them to decide this now, in a current cultural and political climate that’s grown ever more hostile to Black people.

Regarding their existing policies: they cite James Bond as example, but James Bond films often change continuity with each successive actor, and Sam Wilson as Captain America exists in the same continuity, timeline, and universe as Steve Rogers as Captain America in Disney’s MCU. Moreover, there are several counter-examples where fandoms aren’t split off into a new tag when a new lead is introduced to the same storyline/continuity - as mentioned in the comments on this post, AO3 hasn’t done this for Bridgerton or Doctor Who (among others). 

The Bond parallel is further irrelevant because the actors are all playing a character with the same name. Captain America is a title that multiple characters have assumed. In other fandoms, when there are multiple characters with the same title (such as Doctor Who and Black Panther), current practice seems to be to use character and freeform tags to disambiguate, which many commenters on this announcement confirm.

The cited existence of non-MCU Captain America films also doesn’t hold water, as The Flash seems to be disambiguated just fine with its myriad of tags, including The Flash (Movie 2023), The Flash (TV 1990), and The Flash (TV 2014). Many other comic books and comics adapted into tv and film likewise don’t seem to suffer from having multiple continuities and multiple actors as leads of similarly-titled projects, sometimes released simultaneously. Changing the tag to “Captain America (MCU films)” would disambiguate between MCU/non-MCU film continuities very well, without needing to isolate “Sam Wilson as Captain America” stories away from the rest of the MCU films in which he plays such a prominent role. 

This decision also seems to default all existing MCU Captain America stories to the Chris Evans as Captain America tag, which requires all authors who’ve written about Sam Wilson as Captain America to do the labor of “fixing” their stories, as if they’ve been the ones to mistag their work. This also doesn’t take into account the many Alternate Universe stories and such that may feature Sam Wilson as Captain America prior to him taking on the mantle in canon, putting those authors in a bind as to where their stories “belong.”

Leona VS The Weight of Insignificance

(Ahhh sorry I am just getting around to this.;-; BTW DFGHJK I’m flattered that you consider me a Leona expert??)

So this is pretty cool because I didn't realize there was a Prince of Egypt Musical? I’m a big fan of the animated movie and of musicals so I’ll have to listen to the rest someday!

So, I think in general the theme of “Footprints in The Sand” is about the idea of “trying to leave a mark” in life, but feeling like it won't matter in the long run and also exploring the insignificance that we all feel as people.

That being said, I can see why this song made you think of Leona! It brought up some feelings about what being second-born in a royal lineage means and how that can make someone feel insignificant just in concept. The spare heir if you will. 

It's interesting because it also made me think about how Leona has such complicated feelings about his title too?

Like on the one hand, he feels like he's “forever in the shadow of Falena” but at the same time, I DO think a small part of him secretly enjoys the mobility of not having the reasonability of king and therefore the first few lines of the song before it fades into him sounding more melancholic made me think of this.

(AND ALSO since we’ve seen how he would handle being king in his Chapter 7 Dream OOF.) My thoughts on that: X

I think it leads back to the age-old conclusion about Leona’s character (that his dream really hammered home), is that being king is NOT what he truly wants and it more comes to feeling worthy as a person as if he has to “justify” his own existence of feeling useless. It’s more about the kind of attention he craves. To be useful, respected, adored. 

The song mentions the fear of not leaving behind a legacy and feeling the weight of your own insignificance as a person. I can see how both the characters of Moses and Leona both struggle with “finding their purpose” and not being able to see their own worth like others who care about them do. 

It made me think of the song (also in Prince of Egypt) “Through Heaven's Eyes” which I feel actually continues this theme. The idea that even if you can’t see your OWN value that everyone—has their own innate value as people—and that in itself is meaningful.

For Leona—the people he acts as a mentor to like—Ruggie, Epel and Savanaclaw as a whole—have a pretty high opinion of him despite his flaws. And the fact that he can’t always see that and appreciate that value that he unconsciously and consciously brings to them reflects this. He has and will leave an impact even if it's not as “important” as a king. And he could do even more good if he actually tried to do so.

I think it’s a lesson we all struggle with TBH, the whole: seeing our inherent value as people and it’s def why I think Leona is a more relatable character than he first appears in twst. :3

🍒 three - unnatural habitats

I try my best for courage as the city scenes change from outside my window. I can feel Char’s eyes on me. Our argument was conveniently well timed. Now, if I don't show up now to this PR activation of her’s i’ll be toast. The worst sister in the world, problem child extraordinaire. It’s not that I don't want to support Char, it's that Jasonwas invited. In order to secure the necessary funding to make things go off without a hitch she enlisted him knowing his firm's coffers are deep. Knowing Jason, he will be in attendance. It’s the root of my reluctance to attend, not some petty spat and a childish attempt to get even. Char and I didn't speak until last night when she placed the dress she wanted me to wear today on my bed. A pinterest board of context for how I needed to look followed via text along with a detailed itinerary. I reacted to the messages with thumbs up and sat in the make-up artists and hair stylists chairs when they arrived smiling, laughing and talking with them - conceding and playing the role everyone wished to be my permanent disposition.

“Where were you last night?” Char asks, drawing me from my thoughts.

I take a breath before looking over at her, “Out” 

Char rolls her eyes at me before smoothing out her dress - it’s rare vintage and gorgeous. “Out where?” she probes.

“Drinking” I respond being short with her and she sighs.

“Whatever, screw your life up. The rest of us are responsible enough to be your backup plans” she snaps but i’m not in the mood for a back and forth.

“I can act the fool during your event if that's what you want?” I threaten her knowing the social game of chess well. Char glares at me in response. She knows she doesn't have to beg me not to. She knows I'd never knowingly light a match to anything she loves.

“I don't want that - I want the best for you Faith and you're just. I don't know what you're doing!” she shouts.

“I’m 24 and you're 25 Char, what the hell! We’ve got our entire lives ahead of us.”

“How many weddings have we been to the past few summers? How many housewarmings and baby showers?” Char snaps like any one of these guys we grew up with is worth getting to claim her in any way.

“That’s where the party dies Char. How many of our friends are the same?” I ask her.

“Just because you resent Merrick-” Char starts.

“It’s not about Merrick” I snapped, tired of that narrative. “None of this shit is real Char, I don't mind playing pretend but the charade has to end at some point! If mom didn’t have Merrick we could still live the way we do. We have an uncle you know, our fathers brother.”

“Drug money” she whispers well indoctrinated. Char looks at me appalled by my suggestion.

“Because corporations are not just as exploitative and damaging to communities, and the environment?” I ask and she looks at me like I'm a mongrel. Daddy would roll in his grave. That’s the fundamental difference - our father was never self righteous. He never made his choice of employment out to be the right thing - it was just a means to take care of his family. Char was his princess and I was his shadow. 

“Our father killed people and destroyed families with the poison he pumped into the community. Merrick is nothing like that” She snaps as the car comes to a halt. I exit the car and skip photo opps heading straight into the venue I’ve had a hand in decorating - I’m not in the mood to schmooze or network. I head to the bar and get my first round as the music gets good. I throw a few shots back heading over to mingle and maintain my reputation as the ‘fun’ sister. Girls twerk around me but I spare my sisters the embarrassment of my participation. I’m on a cool down when I see Jason watching me with longing. I don’t remember the last time I enjoyed myself this much in his company. I want to run but I can’t because we’ve made eye contact. He looks like he’s been going through it and I can't imagine how much it hurts him to see me looking unaffected by our end.

“Hey” he shouts over the music, having cleared the distance between us.

“Hey” I responded.

“You look beautiful” He smiles with a hand on my hip. It should be familiar and refreshing but it just isn't. He pulls me in coming in for a kiss but I turn my head and step out of his hold before looking at him again.

“Thanks” I mutter, not nearly drunk enough to forget we're over.

“Babe, can we talk?” He asks, lips brushing against my ear.

“We spoke already,” I remind him.

“You haven’t been taking my calls,” he says.

“Because Jason I have nothing more to say!” I say louder my impatience growing.

“Then listen to me, I love you” he says and for a moment the declaration moves me. But then something about him reminds me of Rick and it all goes away.

“Then let me go,” I plead. Jason searches my eyes before anger flashes in his. He pulls me to him like this is a bid for attention, a game of cat and mouse - a way to spice up our relationship and not a breakup.

“You want more attention, I get it. I’m here. I'll work less hours and make more time for us Faith. I love you - stop being like this” he says confirming my suspicions. It's a testament to how well I’ve gotten to know him and how little he’s been paying attention. The whole thing makes me upset and I pull away but he grabs my arms.

“Hey!” A deep voice says in warning. I relax, relieved security is here but I turn to see D’s cousin Rio. His expression is displeased as he sizes Jason up. Jason releases my arms - caught in his below the board behaviour. He straightens and my head spins. Rio’s the last person I expected here or defending me. He gives me a reassured nod before glaring at Jason like Jason has lost his everloving mind. Jason goes to grab me again before Rio steps between us.

“She’s my girl, move” Jason snaps.

“Doesn’t look like it” Rio responds unmoved.

“Why don’t you go and mind your business?” Jason snaps.

“Faith, is this your boyfriend?” Rio asks, casting a look over his shoulder at me, all the while still using his body as a shield.

“I know everyone she knows and I don’t know you” Jason snaps.

“You can do better than this, ma” Rio taunts with a smile that’s only purpose is to provoke Jason.

“Ma?! Faith, who the hell is this guy?’ Jason snaps ready to make a scene.

“Jason, call me when you aren’t drunk” I shout, needing to diffuse the situation for Char’s sake.

“Faith, don’t walk away from me” he shouts, stepping around Rio to grab at me again and it happens so fast I’m shocked. Jason is grabbed by security and his wallet is plucked from his pocket. Another guard snaps a picture of his license.

“Don’t worry, he won’t be allowed back” the guard says. I force a mortified nod as security makes quick work of throwing Jason out discreetly. A few eyes are on us, Char among them.

Fuck, I curse to myself.

“Thanks” I mumble and Rio turns to face me.

“Let me guess, finance?” He says.

My head is still spinning. “What?”

“He works in finance so he thinks people can be bought? And has shit to lose that's why he aint swing on me for talking to his ‘girl’” Rio says with a knowing, taunting light in his eyes. It kills all of the chivalry of his actions.

“Yes, finance” I admit and he looks me over again like I can do better. 

“Well D would’ve wanted me to look out,” he shrugs cooly.

“Thanks” I respond, feeling deflated.

“I’ll tell the staff you're a friend of the family, you need anything let us know” he comments glancing around the venue.

“Appreciate it” I mutter seeing Char’s wide eyes behind him as she makes her way over.

“No worries. But don’t ever come to the bar dressed like that you hear?” He winks walking away.

“Who was that? He’s hot!” Char asks as Rio disappears. 

“D’s cousin” I answer honestly.

“How do you know him? I don’t remember this cousin.” she asks.

“He was around when I saw D” I omit the full truth and she looks in his direction some more.

“He’s hot” she repeats and I smile.

“He’s not your type”

“What?” she asks.

“I'm pretty sure he doesn’t fit your criteria” I tell her.

“What does he do?” She asks.

“He looks like he does whatever he wants.” I tell her heading back to the bar. The bartender hands me a cherry margarita before I can order.

“From the boss” he smiles and I do too. My sister watches me with a hundred questions when I don’t pay and I know it’ll be a long interrogation. I wonder if Rio’s actions are genuine kindness or flirting - either way the man is attentive and clearly dangerous. I head home shortly after the incident, skipping out on the after parties. When I wake up I see a slew of emails from Jason and roll my eyes. I see a message from char saying she’s doing hot yoga and relax until my phone rings. I check the caller ID with one eye open and see Diego’s name. Relief washes over me and I answer.

“Hello”

“Char called”  Diego says on the other end of the video call.

“Yeah?” I ask and he nods.

“Asking if you were involved with my cousin” Diego says and I roll my eyes.

“Jason was sloshed and getting aggressive instead of my sister intervening your cousin did.” I explain.

“I know he told me, then asked me if guys like Jason are your type” Diego says with a knowing expression.

“We both know he isn’t” I admit. “How's the play off season going at the bar?” I ask.

“Good. You low on money?” he asks.

“No, I've been living off the tips and saving my salary. It’s nice.” I admit.

“Rio’s out of town next weekend so if you want to work let me know” he offers.

“I’m in” I tell him.

“Good”

“Did Char tell you she thinks Rio is hot?” I ask and his eyes bug out.

“Rio isn’t her type, he has a son and two girlfriends” D says, surprising even me.

“Two” I exclaim shocked and D nods. “And he’d pretend Char’s the only one,” I add, shaking my head.

“Good at it too,” D scoffs, making me laugh.

“Then he’s exactly her type, she still believes in playing pretend” I tell Jason who swallows.

“Both of you need to stay away from him.” D says before changing the subject to something lighter.

authors note: checking in with readers. the first chapter did well but the second not so much. idk if you all are busy or tired with the state of the world, tired of rio or adjusting to the change in POV. Whatever the case I'm willing to pause updating this story for now and revisit updating it later.

This story is a slower burn than Forgiveless but I promise all the mess and spice you love and more is on the horizon.

you can't "just add a few codexes". you have to write those codexes. you have to write them in the proper voice and style and so it doesn't just fit ONE specific person's worldstate but anyone who also may have made the same decision as them. (you might even have to write multiple variations of the SAME CODEX to account for gender/race/class/romance) you have to edit them. you have to decide where those codexes are going to appear. you have to put them somewhere where people who want to read them will find them. you have to program them showing up. you have to flag it so it only shows up in sPECIFIC versions of the game. (because god forbid it doesn't and breaks someone else's immersion) you have to bug test that. you have to hope it still works when it ships.

and after all that the people complaining might still pick up said codex and close out the window immediately. or run past it entirely and complain that they made a selection in the worldstate that never paid off.

and then you've just spent all that time fleshing out something that's just a small nod to a very small percentage of players. time you could have spent on the current plot or companions. time you could have spent on making *active* decisions matter. these things can easily take up weeks or months like you wouldn't fucking believe.

me: i finished the latest trailblaze mission in hsr so i can look at what other people are posting now! oh boy i hope it's discussions and theories about the story. i can't wait to see what everyone thought about firefly (what was going on with you sweetie...) and A Child's Dream - that segment in particular really left a profound impact on me. like who is mikhail? the voice we hear throughout is obviously misha's - did he have a twin? does mikhail have something to do with clockie? and from what we heard and saw, misha or... mikhail. encountered the embodiment of Death that lurks beneath the dreamscape. what's... the full story there...? i can't wait to see other people's perspectives it'll help me piece a more coherent theory together-

Love your art and I'm generally curious as to what the appeal of Dante/Vergil is to you? Do you have any hc that you're drawing from or is it just personal preference? I struggle to imagine the right conditions for them to be involved in that way and would like to know what inspires you.

I will premise this by saying, that I’m actually not a MASSIVE fan of just DV for its own sake, if Nero isn’t also included (or like, with the assumption he will, 100%, be included once he’s in the picture). To me it’s kind of a baseline pairing?

As in, I don’t even have to think about it. Of course they’re in love, of course they’re together, of course they’re fucking. It’s almost an afterthought to me, the way the married parent couple of the protagonist in a story inherently are. It doesn’t necessarily interest me by itself, that fact, it’s just a certainty, it just is. I guess, for me, the interest in DV specifically comes more out of what other people make of it, because for me I’m almost always approaching first from the perspective of Nero being there also, haha.

There’s also the fact that I have a lot of hc about just like, the way demons function as a species, I guess. I took a lot of things dmc canon gave me and went like, “alright, time to project this into the most self indulgent, non-human society but humanoid looking species I can think up in my brainhead”. To me a lot of the appeal comes from it being not necessarily a predestined thing as much as like, a biological inevitability - (going to speak in definitives about my own hc from here on, so not making any statement about canon dmc lol) demons mate with their kin, and with whoever deems worthy - and twins from the same litter would inevitably end up being the other’s first partner, their first choice, their other half. In a sense, to me, they’re soulmates - though honestly I prefer to think of it more as two halves of the same soul, following the implications in 3 and the 3 manga that them being twins comes from the spawn of Sparda being too powerful to just be born in one body. That might sound like I’m just saying they’re soulmates in a different way, but not really - to me, if I had to go the soulmate route, Nero would be both of their soulmate - because the two of them make one single soul, and the match to that would be Nero’s.

I kind of just go off of the assumption that they are in love and have been since they were in the womb, you know?

That colors the way I see their every interaction. To me, in their fighting, their squabbles and their feuds, there’s always love at the source. Familial, yes, but romantic and sexual as well - and to me, when I think about them, it’s all one and the same. To love each other like family is to be intwined, is to be mated, is to be a pack and is to be one.

That’s the more deep thoughts I have about it, I have more shallow/surface thoughts (and specifically ship dynamic thoughts about like, what appeals to me about them sexually lol) but if I had to quickly sum it up that’s what I would say, I think.

okay but AJR'S new song "Yes I'm A Mess" is one of their coolest concepts to date cause like, AJR has been hyping up the chorus for a long while now and from the frequently tiktoked verses "I could hate my guts when the sun comes up but I like myself like this" and the overall tune of the chorus, the most common impression on the song is that it's a song about the brothers "blowing up their lives" through partying and all that because they "like themselves like this". Basically it's your "wooo let's fucking party song" but in the perspective of them using it as a means of escape in a way. This impression is confirmed with the release of the full song whose lyrics include them wanting to quit their jobs and start over ("I'm in it now, I'm in it now, could I start again somehow?)

And of course, the theme of wanting to escae start over and becoming what you like yourself to be even if you make yourself into a mess is something quite relatable especially for young adults right? So that concept is good in it of itself but what makes this song so much fucking different IS HOW AJR FLIPS IT BY THE BRIDGE. By the time Jack sings "I could hate my guts when the sun comes up but I guess that's what this is. I like myself like this", there is a layer of acknowledged resignation that them blowing up their lives and escaping in the interest of starting over and "liking themselves" is something that's not that all good AND THAT POINT IS ESTABLISHED WITH HOW THE SONG ENDS - WITH THE OUTRO BEING ALL SLOWED DOWN AND REVERBED AS IF THE PARTY IS STOPPING AND YOU'RE COMING DOWN FROM YOUR EUPHORIC PARTY HIGHS.

This part especially took a lot of people off guard because they simply weren't expecting this shift of tempo to happen in a song marketed as a partying fun song and holy shit that's the whole point! The constant escape for a new and clean slate through indulging yourself into becoming someone you like to the point of self sabotage won't ever end up well - cause sooner or later, the tempo will turn slow, verses will be slurred, and the fun beat and whistles will stop. And for a band who prides upon having their songs be fun to dance to while being relatable in its woes of having to grow up and wanting to escape that, holy fuck is that an amazing point to make.

my wrist hurts, so i'm taking a lil break from writing, but may i just say i love one miss chiyo :' ) and a lil hc a reply in the queue made me think about: chiyo definitely was the one teasing naoki rather than the other way around when they were kids. in general, chiyo's used to being the silly, cheeky one -- she's not as used to others teasing her, though she never gets legitimately mad or bothered about it. she just doesn't take it lying down, and/or she gets really flustered. like i'll say that's one character trait that will sometimes shine through even the masks she likes to put on. her playfulness. and i just really enjoy that about her character <3

I think the most obvious answer would be the little smut oneshot with him and Zerith-var I just posted, but if that's not ur jam that's ok!

there's also a few little things I've posted on tumblr here and there, like the New Life ficlet, and the Seaside Cottage prompt answer. also in scrolling back far enough I found the original introduction I wrote for him that ended up becoming the first chapter of his fic.

his main fic follows the Necrom story in ESO very loosely and definitely not in any linear fashion, and I've tried to make it stand on its own as much as possible, so some surface-level TES knowledge might cover it as long as you don't mind possible spoilers in case you do ever play the game!
