It's big so
When it comes to HMC trilogy, I take almost no criticism, as it just a wonderful written-story with alive and relatable characters. However, If I had to name a part I'd found reasonable to criticise and may critises myself, I'd say it's Lettie Hatter's arc.
Not because it was entirely bad, but because it could be so much better If it wasn't written in the 80s and had a different mindset attached to it. And because the way it starts and the way it progress has little to no connection to how it ends.
Because the whole thing of the Hatter sisters, all of them, was breaking social norms and expectations.
Sophie firmly believed that she would stay in the Hatter Shop for the rest of her life with the most boring existence possible — and yet she married the most chaotic, whiny and slither-outing wizard in all of Ingary, with whom everyday is a full-blown fantasy adventure.
Martha, as the youngest, was expected to have the above mentioned fantasy adventures, be a mighty witch, even a hero, maybe — but she decided to chose a happy, steady basic life with a husband and ten kids, and she didn't want to listen to anyone who said otherwise.
Lettie's arc, just as the whole stories of her sisters, were tied on what people wanted from her. She was the most beautiful out of all girls, If we believe Sophie's words, and people almost wished she would marry and find a life spouse, as she had one million proposals a day even before switching with Martha. But that wasn't what she wanted — I'm sure she would reject all of them as often as her sister did, because she wasn't a big fan of it, just as working in the bakery. Lettie wanted to be a witch, and she practically became one, switching with Martha, working with ms. Fairfax.
But while Sophie's arc of expecting to be plane and ordinary ended on being gifted and adventurous, Martha's arc of avoiding busy life ended on finding a person she loves and planning to build a big family, Lettie's arc of searching for greatest achievement and avoiding marriages ended on...a marriage.
A marriage that, as stated by herself — "Ben doesn't like people to know I'm a witch" — kinda disregards her initial want to show that she has intelligence outside of her beauty, the one that he can show and that she can use.
Tumblr media
(This line has absolutely no context whatsoever and we can only guess why Ben wants so, because it's actually so out of his character, even all the bits that were described before. But nope, no context, no explanations. It may be because she was pregnant at the time, but, again nothing like this was ever said and it's a pretty lame excuse anyway. Magical mirrors in their house also do not obey Lettie, at all)
And, as much as I absolutely love Ben and as much as I absolutely love Lettie, I don't think pairing them was a good choice. Mostly because Lettie was seventeen (one year younger than Sophie) in the end of HMC when their "pairing" started, and Ben is described to be noticeably older that Howl in CITA, which brings us to the conclusion he's at least in his thirties. And that's...a bit uncomfortable of an age gap, especially If we take into the account they canonically had a kid about a year later. And also Ben was supposed to be her mentor.
...And If he stayed her mentor and nothing more, it would be actually great. Because I believe Lettie deserves the same development her sister had, to get was she initially wanted and what she was fighting for. To be an apprentice of the Royal Wizard, to be a powerful a well-known witch, to show the world who told her that she has to marry to succeed in life that she in fact, doesn't, to show all this guys that tried to propose to her that she didn't need them, at all. But definitely not a wife, or a mother.
Not because being a mother or/and a wife is a bad character development. It worked perfectly with Sophie, because it represents her chaotic happily ever after better than anything else, it worked with Martha because she wanted to had ten kids and marry. It's just not for Lettie's character in particular precisely because everything in her concept of "beatiful middle sister" showed that was she's supposed to be.
Because Mrs. Pentstemmon said Lettie awaits a great, good fate, that she'll be as powerful as the Witch of the Waste — and I want to see it. Because I didn't.
#i came at night unininvated to throw out a few thoughts#dont take me seriosiy#any analysys just pure srceams#Bc wdum she made plan how to go to mr Fairwax to study magic and then move to another wizard for this and just quit it bc of idc mariage?#and even damn mirrors didn't obey her#Isn't she should learn how to use it?!#Girl u live here a year or two weeks??#Bc in my head she wanted to learn everything she can and prob read packs of books from Ben's little library#i see (we with Nadia see) Suliman as nerd who perceives magic as another new science#that must be studied#written down#he def sometimes compared all this with physics and chemistry of his world#JUSTIN CANONICALLY A NERD I DIE ON THIS HILL#soldier in cita randomly decided that people whom he see for the first time in his life should hear ab war strategy that he lose in#In damn details#It was part of his plan to rustle coins to passers-by but still#Abdullah half of way describe him as thundering bore#And he was even under a spell#Imagine what a nerd he is with clear mind#He was the one who was a tour guide for Ben in first time he come to ingary#That hc that lettie can have fun she never had make sense i love it#She soak all of knowledge that given to her and wants to test it immediately#As apprentice Lettie creates a little more chaos and problems than Michael for Howl#she probably burned Bens cabinet once u can't tell me she didn't#(Lettie and ben having normal besties and mentot/mentee relationship takes place in my heart sorry)#And lol her stopping wars bc she tired to hear Justin rumbling about how complicated his semipolitiycal problems... yada yada boring#And she (maybe) like there now they loyal to you bc i throw a spell at them#now u can simply solve it and spend more time with your boyfriend#And she probably messed up her own wedding bc it was boring#and encouraged howl to bring a guitar there

I can't stop thinking about post-hmc flower shop Howl and Sophie
Starting off their mornings picking flowers together and arguing about which ones would look nicest together
Howl still flirts with customers (he tones it down a bit) to get them to buy more, so Sophie decides to make it even and flirt with the male customers to see who is more effective. She outsells Howl within a week.
Howl installs a secondary hearth at the back of the shop so Calcifer can hang out with them when he's in the castle
Michael gets a discount on bouquets since he's basically family, but he abuses that privilege so often to get flowers for Martha that Howl and Sophie force him to start getting his own flowers from the Waste
At first, Howl stopped offering his services in towns since he's both the royal wizard and works the flower shop with Sophie, but he low-key misses it and runs a side gig out of the shop when Sophie's not there
When Howl is out and customers aren't there, Sophie finds herself talking to bouquets when she's bored like she used to talk to hats. One time she tries to use it to her advantage by telling an arrangement, "you are going to start cleaning up after yourself in the bathroom." She intends to give it to Howl at the end of the day but she accidentally mixes it up with another one she had predicted was going to "finally take a hard-earned rest." She can't get Howl off the couch for the next three days.
People figure out Sophie's flower spells and start requesting arrangements that will bring them fame and wealth. Sophie spends the next two weeks sternly telling every single flower in the shop "you are going to be ashamed of yourself and learn to mind your own business." Howl wonders why they've lost half of their regular customers.
Howl convinces Sophie to come to Wales with him again so he can properly introduce her to Neil and Mari. When Megan hears her children calling her "Auntie Sophie," she is furious that Howl didn't invite her to the wedding. Howl and Sophie quickly realize they forgot to have a wedding.
Howl sometimes sneaks away from the shop when he finds some particularly lovely arrangements leftover at the end of the day and lays them on Mrs. Pentstemmon's grave. He never tells this to anyone, but Sophie figures it out. On those days when he disappears for an hour or so and comes back looking sadder, she makes sure to tell his bathroom spells and potions to be extra soothing for the evening.
Howl picks up a book from Wales on flower language and creates elaborate arrangements to send messages to Sophie. At first, she doesn't catch on and only grumbles about him wasting their stock. She finally realizes what he's getting at, but Ingary's flower meanings are very different from the ones Howl intended. He is left frantically trying to explain why he's accidentally been giving Sophie floral messages offering sympathy for the death of her husband.

Howl's Moving Castle Word Crawl
By: dashielldeveron
Posting again the word crawl I made. It’s long, so it’s best to break it up into bits.
Howl’s Moving Castle word crawl! Follows the plot of the book by Diana Wynne Jones.
In the land of Ingary, where such things as seven league boots and cloaks of invisibility really exist, it absolutely sucks to be the eldest of three. Based on your writing speed, pick where in the birth order you line up.
Youngest: Slower Middle: Medium Eldest: Faster
Your stepmother decides that the only way to keep the family millinery open is to send you and your sisters off to apprentice somewhere profitable. You get stuck in the hat shop. Even though they’re not satisfied with their assignments, your sisters, at least, get to leave the house. Sprint for ten minutes, because your life surely isn’t going anywhere.
If you reached the word count below, you overhear about the mysterious Wizard Howl and how he kidnaps beautiful girls to eat their hearts, and that will never hold significance for you. If you don’t reach it, sprint for seven minutes while your stepmother teaches you how to sell a hat to a customer.
Youngest: 375 words Middle: 685 words Eldest: 950 words
Making hats is boring. You talk to them as if they were people, because yeah, like you’re going to step outside.
• If you chose the hat that was all veiling with hidden twinkles, you have a mysterious allure. Write 550 words. • If you chose the creamy hat with roses under the brim, you have to marry into money. Write 700 words. • If you chose the mushroom pleated bonnet, you have a heart of gold, and someone in a high position will fall in love with you. Write 1000 words.
You’re a little depressed that none of them look nice on you. On May Day, you decide to go see your sister Lettie, who was sent to apprentice at a local bakery. You’re scared stiff. You run into a pretentious blond, and you dash into the crowded bakery. Write to the next multiple of 300 while you push your way to the front counter.
Lettie pulls you aside to tell you that she’s not Lettie. Using magic to disguise themselves, she and your sister Martha swopped places of apprenticeship. Sprint for 15 minutes while you jump to conclusions.
If you reach the word count, you take Martha’s advice to stand up for yourself when you get home. If you fail, you stumble around your words in a pathetic way. Type for five minutes with your eyes closed.
Youngest: 580 Middle: 880 Eldest: 1250
A glamourous woman walks into your shop. Her tastes are too highfalutin for your shop. You’re tacky, and she hates you.
• If you are the youngest or middle child, you try to sell her the mushroom hat. Allow your writing to suck for a solid 25 minutes. • If you are the eldest child, you sass her despite her henchman’s nervous gesturing behind her back. You done screwed up, son. Write 2500 in 30 minutes.
Oh, mother—that was the Witch of the Waste, the most diabolical mind this side of paradise, and she’s cursed you with old age. You now have the body of a 90-year-old, and you can’t let your family know about this. Your joints may ache, but you’ve got to go out into the world to make your fortune. Man, these hills are unforgiving. Write for a leisurely 35 minutes as you slowly head out into the waste.
If you reach the word count, you happen upon Howl’s castle. If you don’t you write 300 words while you wander about in the mist.
Youngest: 750 Middle: 999 Eldest: 1300
You barge into the moving castle, which is a bit of a dump, and Howl is out. Instead, you meet his apprentice, Michael. You also meet a fire demon, Calcifer, who can tell that you’re under a spell. He convinces you to break his contract with Howl in exchange for breaking your curse. For some reason, Calcifer tells you that Howl is quite heartless. You didn’t need to be told; have you seen the inside of this castle? It’s filthy. Clearly someone who treats a castle like this would be heartless. Anyway. Do a three digit challenge while Michael tries to get you to leave.
In the morning, you bully Calcifer into bending down his head for you so that you can cook breakfast. No one but Howl is supposed to be able to do that. You’re distracted by the bacon, so you don’t notice Howl come in until it’s too late—and oh no he’s hot. You say Calcifer hired you as the cleaning lady. Write for 10 minutes while Howl moans about how much he loves the filth.
You’re determined to be the very best cleaning lady, like no one ever was, but you get distracted by his magical door.
• Porthaven Door: The king sends his thanks for the seven league boots. Write seven times the last two digits of your word count. • Kingbury Door: A girl shows up for the safety spell for her dad’s boat. Write for 15 minutes using precise phrasing, because you’re going to spread rumours about being a witch if you don’t stop saying the wrong things. • Market Chipping Door: Your stepmother can’t know you’re here. Write 849 words, which is how many times in the past month she’s ignored your opinion. • What the Frick Frackle’s Behind That Door, Howl?: Death. Death and destruction. Death, destruction, and Secret Wales. Write to the next multiple of 3000.
Howl doesn’t want you to clean anything. The filth is his friend. He loves the spiders. You think he’s a sick jerk. Sprint to 350.
The girl who bought the mushroom hat has run off with a count—like you with your word count. Write for 20 minutes without using be verbs. If you chose the mushroom hat earlier, you may skip this step.
Calcifer and Michael tell you about Howl’s romantic exploits. He’ll start courting a girl, and then he’ll get bored with her as soon as she returns his affections. Calcifer then goes into Howl’s beauty routine, and he uses more products on his face than you do. Howl rushes downstairs from the bathroom and yells at you for organising his bathroom supplies, because now his hair is ginger. He calls upon the spirits of darkness. Sprint for 15 minutes while you try to fix this.
When Howl is in his right mind, he tells you that he’s in love with Lettie, who is, as you found out earlier, actually Martha. Not your sister, dang it! Plus, there’s this mad scarecrow following the castle. What luck. Take a leisurely twenty minutes as you make a plan.
But Howl isn’t in love with Martha, it turns out. Michael shows up with a cake from the bakery and says that he’s in love with Lettie. Lettie from the cake shop. You’re so confused. Huh. Howl tells you that he’s weaselled out of finding the lost prince over a piece of cake. You decide to go visit the real Lettie at her magic apprenticeship, and you steal some seven league boots. Write 475 words.
The real Lettie knows that Howl is courting her, and she’s knows exactly what she’s doing. Oops. You go home to help Michael with a spell that is suspiciously like John Donne’s “Song”. Howl is pissed at you for trying to catch a fallen star, just as the poem says. Sprint to 500.
Howl takes you to through the fourth door to Secret Wales. His family is rotten, but he loves them. You track down Miss Angorian, who tells you another part of “Song”. She makes you feel uneasy, especially when she talks about her missing fiancé, Ben Sullivan. 10 minute word war!
Howl wants to avoid responsibility, so he sends you to blacken his name. You go to an old teacher and the King of Ingary. Write for an hour.
If you hit the word count, you successfully make Howl seem like a terribly lazy and irresponsible person, which he is. If you don’t, you run into the Witch of the Waste and have to double back. Write until you’ve doubled what you wrote in the hour.
Youngest: 1000 Middle: 3000 Eldest: 5000
After a brawl in town. The Witch of the Waste has caught up with Howl. He hurriedly forces Calcifer to move the castle, and the red setter that you’ve picked up does not like the magic. Calcifer is rooted in this rock-like object when Howl moves him, and moving the castle means more doors!
• Market Chipping Door: You’re back in your childhood home. Write a scene that is inspired by something in your childhood, because write what you know, you know? • The Mansion: Weed killer time! Delete that fluff you wrote out of desperation. • Meadow on the Edge of the Waste: Look at all these flowers, man. So pretty. Put a bouquet of flowers into your next scene. • Secret Wales Door: Howl plays rugby? Oh, er. Okay. Write for six minutes about something about which you know nothing.
Howl starts courting Miss Angorian to avoid looking for the lost prince, and you figure out that Calcifer was once a falling star that Howl caught. The scarecrow won’t leave you alone, and it creeps you out. Do a three digit challenge.
The red setter you picked up is actually a human under a curse. You call him Percival. Percival says the Witch of the Waste had his head on a shelf for a long time. By all accounts, it makes no sense. And then Howl goes to say that he knew you were cursed all along! What the heck? That jerk. Sprint for 20 minutes while you insult him with everything you’ve got.
Howl goes out drinking with his Rugby team and comes home, as he so eloquently phrases it, “cone sold stober”. The scarecrow catches up with Percival, for whom he has been looking, and says something about missing parts. In his inebriated state, Howl has been tricked by the Witch of the Waste, and she now has Miss Angorian as captive in the Waste. Write 3 percent of your word count.
You go to the Witch’s lair to save Miss Angorian. You dodge some vicious, orange blobs, and the Witch shows you a headless body. She tells you it’s a perfect conglomeration of the bodies of the missing prince and missing Wizard Sullivan. All she needs now is the head of Howl to make the perfect King of Ingary, and the Witch shall be his queen. Do a Fifty Headed Hydra to effectively inform her that she’s mad, which you do by fighting her with a stick.
Holy crap it worked thank God. Howl shows up, and the two of you figure out not only that Percival is made of body parts of the prince and Sullivan (lol I know) but also that Miss Angorian is a demon working for the Witch. You rush back to the castle to find her squeezing Calcifer—attached to Howl’s heart—in her hand. All of the “Song” spell has come true. You have to break the spell to save Howl and Calcifer. Write until you hit the next checkpoint below.
Youngest: the next 2,000 word checkpoint Middle: the next 5,000 word checkpoint Eldest: the next 10,000 word checkpoint
You break the spell and put Howl’s heart back in his chest. Calcifer lives. Howl thinks he has a hangover, and by breaking Howl’s spell, you broke your own. You are your proper age. You should have noticed that the prince and the Wizard Sullivan are their normal selves again, but you’re too focused on how in love with Howl you are—that jerk. Write for 5 minutes using only polysyllabic words.

For the WIP ask game, your book? I'm curious! (And I feel the trouble with titles. Sometimes they come all on their own, sometimes they just refuse to exist.)
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS ASK I always love rambling about my writing but I'm a little self conscious about posting about it. So thank you!! (also right??? It can be such a pain in the neck sometimes)
Okay, picure this: my main character, Rebecca, has grown up (on Earth) without knowing who her family is. She's approached by this boy (who is a precious cinnamon roll and if I don't succeed in conveying the EXACT vibe for him I will lose my mind) Liam, who says that he was sent by a member of her family and is supposed to bring her home
Turns out that home is a fairy tale world that's ruled by an evil Empress Goldilocks and her assassins; Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty. Other details I'm overly fond of are the sky-pirates (including Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk), King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table is gonna show up at some point (and they WILL ALL HAVE AUSTRALIAN ACCENTS I REALIZE IT'S UNREALISTIC BUT I DON'T CARE), and pretty much any sentient magical object (magic mirror, the Genie in the lamp, the talking harp) are related
So! That's about the summary of that! Also I really, really want to share a snippet so have one I'm so sorry for the long answer lol. Thanks for asking!!
“Okay,” he said. “Like I said before, this is another world—”
“But which one?” I broke in, my patience officially gone. “Ingary? Ilyon? Narnia? Oooh, please tell me it’s Narnia.”
“I… don’t actually know what any of that means,” Liam said, frowning. “But no. The world we’re from— and yes, I mean we. This is where your parents are from, and where you should have grown up. And it’s this world.”
Flipping open the green-bound book he’d taken from the library, he handed it to me. As I took it from him, I glanced at the open page. My gaze landed on the illustration— a tall stone tower, a woman with incredibly long golden hair standing at the window— and my jaw dropped.
“Wait, wait, wait. Are you saying we’re in the fairy tale world?”

tagged by @lavalierre, thank you <3 this was so fun, it's been ages since i've read most of these
10. Blood of Elves - Andrzej Sapkowski
The town was in flames.
I love The Witcher but c’mon man. You can do better than this. “It was a dark and stormy night” ass line.
9. Maurice - E.M. Forster
Once a term the whole school went for a walk – that is to see the three masters took part as well as all the boys.
Establishes that the book takes place in Britain, which immediately makes me disinterested. I am only sort of joking.
8. The Gods of Tango - Carolina De Robertis
Dante died a happy man, although a strange one, known for living with a coffin in his house.
I don’t know what it is but while I love this book, this does nothing for me.
7. Dusty in Memphis - Warren Zanes
This is not a book about a record.
I came here to read about Dusty in Memphis, please tell me about Dusty in Memphis.
6. Wuthering Heights - Emily Brontë
1801– I have just returned from a visit to my landlord – the solitary neighbor that I shall be troubled with.
Mood.
5. Queer Cowboys - Chris Packard
Think cowboy, and what image comes to mind?
I like that I’m being asked a question that already requires me to engage with the book, and I like that I’m being asked to visualize cowboys.
4. Howl’s Moving Castle - Diana Wynne Jones
In the land of Ingary, where such things as seven-league boots and cloaks of invisibility really exist, it is quite a misfortune to be born the eldest of three.
It’s a children's fantasy novel, it’s charming.
3. Cash: The Autobuography - Johnny Cash
My line comes down from Queen Ada, the sister of Malcolm IV, descended from King Duff, the first king of Scotland.
He was so kinnable for this one honestly because I love telling people that if you go far enough back the first member of the [Redacted] clan was related by marriage to Robert the Bruce.
2. Anne of Green Gables - L.M. Montgomery
Mrs. Rachel Lynde lived just where the Avonlea main road dipped down into a little hollow, fringed with alders and ladies' teardrops and traversed by a brook that had its source away back in the woods of the old Cuthbert place; it was reputed to be an intricate, headlong brook in its earlier course through those woods, with dark secrets of pool and cascade; but by the time it reached Lynde's Hollow it was a quiet, well-conducted little stream, for not even a brook could run past Mrs. Rachel Lynde's door without due regard for decency and decorum; it probably was conscious that Mrs. Rachel was sitting at her window, keeping a sharp eye on everything that passed, from brooks and children up, and that if she noticed anything odd or out of place she would never rest until she had ferreted out the whys and wherefores thereof.
This sentence is unforgivably long HOWEVER it is so unforgivably long that I can’t help but love it, and it establishes the setting and tone quite well, and tells you exactly the kind of person that Mrs. Rachel Lynde is.
1. The Deviant’s War: The Homosexual vs. The United States of America - Eric Cervini
It began, as usual, in a public restroom.
Lol.

HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE: DIFFERENCES BETWEEN NOVEL AND MOVIE

HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE: DIFFERENCES BETWEEN NOVEL AND MOVIE
HOWL’S MOVING CASTLE: DIFFERENCES BETWEEN NOVEL AND MOVIE
Link Video:
youtube
Opening
Following the resounding success of the 2001 animated classic Spirited Away, director Hayao Miyazaki continued to release a Japanese animated fantasy Howl’s moving castle. The film was inspired by the 1986 novel of the same name by British author Diana Wynne Jones.
Most Studio Ghibli fans turn to the book after watching the movie. This caused a little disappointment, a bit of “disillusionment” for the ladies who put too many dreams into the handsome wizard Howl in the movie. Although both the novel and the movie revolve around the two main characters – Sophie and Howl, there are huge differences in the storyline and character construction that cause both the novel and the film to turn in two directions.
Stay tuned with ASK KPOP until the end of the video to see what made “romantic fiction” fans disillusioned with the difference between novels and movies Howl’s moving castle.
Body
Sophie Hatter, a girl born into a family of hat makers, does not believe that luck will come to her and she will do something great in her life. She decided she would spend the rest of her life looking after the hat shop her father left. But her life changes after being cursed by the Witch of the Waste, turning her into an old woman, and worse yet, she can’t tell anyone about it. Fearing that her family would no longer recognize her, Sophie set out to find a way to cure the curse, and then arrived at Wizard Howl’s castle. Since then there is a big difference between books and movies, especially the plot and character lines.
The difference in the story between the novel and the movie
Because the novel Howl’s moving castle was written for children by writer Diana Wynne Jones, these factors such as : magic ,humor, fantasy come first. The content of the novel mainly tells about Sophie’s journey to break the curse. In that journey, Sophie has discovered the true strength of herself and the good qualities of those around her. However, when it was adapted to the big screen, director Hayao Miyazaki incorporated many lofty messages about love, peace, and anti-war.
Throughout the movie, we see a fight break out between Ingary (the land of Howl and Sophie is in) and the neighboring country, whereas there is no fierce battle in the original novel.
The whole movie revolves around the theme of anti-war, and its true villain is the pointless war and cause the loss. However, the original story directs the reader towards Sophie’s journey to find herself, how Sophie realizes her worth, which is partly through the movie. Coming to the movie, you will experience the brutal combat scene, the dark battleships .As for the book, Howl has to confront the Witch of the Waste and her powerful fire demon. The two missions of the movie and the novel have different message stories with different audiences, both great stories with their own merits.
The difference in the character’s personality between the novel and the movie
The second most highlighted difference between the novel and the movie is the characters. The characters in the book and in the movie are transformed from the original. Some minor characters have been removed or merged together with other characters. Characters with significant changes include:
(Howl)
Howl in the movie is a perfect version, a “Prince Charming” with many advantages in personality: courteous, gentle, and also the hero of fighting to protect Sophie. If you are familiar with this Howl image then Please be mentally prepared before reading the novel of the same name. Real name’s Howl  is Howell Jenkins, from Wales. It is mentioned in the book that the castle door leads to different places according to the color on the door, and the blackness opens into a dark night. However, the side when that black curtain was Wales in the 1980s, with modern equipment such as cars and computers . This is not mentioned in the movie.
In terms of personality, Howl in the novel is actually a “lady-killer” who flirts with so many beautiful ladies and any girl will not escape by him, until they fall in love with him, he leaves without leaving a trace. This was also the source of his trouble with the Witch of the Waste Throughout the novel, Howl spends most of his time dressing and grooming in order to win the hearts of beautiful girls, including her sister Sophie. The rest of the time, Howl sulked and acted like a child beside Sophie. Howl in the novel does not want to tie and always tries to avoid responsibility. But the more we read, the more we like Howl in the novel, because his personality is especially funny and witty. “I’m a coward. Only way I can do something this frightening is to tell myself I’m not doing it.”  Throughout the novel, we see only a Howl chasing the girls, his words in the last chapter confuse readers and other characters: Howl is still searching and saving people from being lost from the Witch. Meanwhile, he tells himself “I’m not doing it”.
Howl in the movie gets rid of Howl’s flaws of the novel. Because the movie’s message is hind-minded about peace protection and anti-war, a heroic character is needed to be able to send the message to the audience. The hero in the movie is Howl, he is idealized in the film, becomes a hero fighting for peace, denouncing the destructive power of war. When the court asked Howl to go to war, Howl refused ,not for his cowardness. He knew from which side the war was coming from, then the end was like that for everyone, just bring pain only. However, at night, Howl quietly turns into a monster out to fight alone, fighting against planes and monsters that both sides release to tear each other up. It is an ideal, incredibly romantic image of a hero fighting evil, fighting for peace, and fighting for the things he loves. In the end, Howl in both the novel and movie has to face Howl’s problems and settle it.
(Sophie)
Sophie in the novel has red hair, stubborn, straightforward, and always seems angry after being cursed. She sees cleaning as a way to forget about the problem she is facing. She often talks to hats, clothes, objects around and this brings miracles, even life to them. Meanwhile, Sophie in the movie has brown hair and is much softer. She also knows how to control her emotions better, and she cleans out of order. However, Sophie in the movie has no magical powers. This is most noticeable in the part where Sophie meets Turnip-Head. Turnip-Head in the story is an inanimate scarecrow, but gets up and follows Sophie after hearing her talk. In the movie, Turnip-Head had life when Sophie met him. While the-story Sophie was very scared of Turnip Head and wanted to chase him many times, the Sophie-movie was friendly, even grateful to the Turnip-Head.
Sophie in the story has sent a message: “When we are young, let us go out and explore ourselves, we will find our power hidden and know what our strength is. and where is our limit. ” That is a very precious meaning that Sophie’s journey to find herself brings back.
  (Author)
Author Diana Wynne Jones observed that Howl and Sophie on-screen seemed “softer and more noble than their characters in my book.” In the movie, we really liked how Howl became “lost” as he transformed into a giant crow in battles and gradually “couldn’t return.” Meanwhile, Sophie’s curse fades more and more as she becomes stronger to save Howl and to heal herself. These details are not included in the book. However, I also want to say that Howl and Sophie in the book seem more real and that the quarrel between the two is what makes me appreciate their feelings more; love each other and learn to accept each other’s imperfections.
(Witch)
She was once a charming, powerful woman. Howl in the novel once chased and abandoned her. Both the story and the movie show Howl once captured a shooting meteor and gave it his heart in exchange for power, which is Calcifer. However, the sorceress in the novel cursed Howl to complete a list of things to do and they slowly led Howl back to her hand. In the movie, the witch tries to cast a curse on Howl, but he easily removes it. In the end, she lost her magic and became a pitiful, harmless old woman.
()
There are also some minor differences in the side characters. Sophie in the novel has two younger sisters, Lettie and Martha. Lettie is the younger sister sent to learn magic, and Martha is the assistant at the bakery. These two sisters exchanged looks and names in the beginning. Lettie is a huge support character in the series, even part 2 is present. However, the film only mentions Lettie – the sister at the bakery, and she can only say a sentence or two to Sophie and finish. Howl has an apprentice. In the book, he names Michael Fisher , a teenager. And, in the movie he names Markl , a boy. In the story, Suliman is the Royal Mage, male and missing. On screen, Suliman is a female magician who taught Howl before, and she is a bit mean.
  Ending
“Howl’s Moving Castle” is a film with a stunning image and a beautiful European context, but it does not lose the Japanese culture, oriental styles of Ghibli. The good soundtrack both “The Promise With The World” and “Merry Go Round of Life” are great tunes but for us  “Merry Go Round of Life” is still more beautiful, the scene of Howl holding Sophie’s hand , two people walking in the air together forever is a very beautiful, very romantic scene that is hard to describe in words.
Howl’s Moving Castle is not just a love story, a magical adventure and heart-fluttering romance, but also a story of growth and a journey to find oneself. Whether it’s a novel or a movie, the film’s meaningful message is expressed in tolerance, forgiveness after struggles, hatred, and curse. In addition, the extraordinary life energy of the people who have suffered many injuries in the film overcoming all the difficulties to achieve a happy destination is also the message that the filmmakers send to the audience.

~
oh girl, first impressions? ngl, the gays and girls here seem quite lovely, hopefully they won't have to carry me the entire time LMAO
Tumblr media
Okay like the only person I like/talked to is Jodi but she seems like a smart cookie so ima sleep with one eye open. But idk I'm ready to put on my fake ass smile and my fake ass kind words and get through this part. It's interesting with 6 people per tribe like if we lose I don't have that solid "core" yet but theres a chance that it would be me, jodi, amy because we were the first three on and active so idk. the immunity challenge is cool, the hunt challenge is cool too. im not good at timed puzzles, so I don't think I'm gonna go for it but a part of me feels like everyone across the tribes isnt gonna do it becsuse theyre scared so thats a good opportunity to sneak in and play with less people against me? idk idk idk ahhh
Tumblr media
🎶Oh my god we're back again🎶 Hey peeps!! :DDD Here I am againnnn, how fun! Tbh I forgot this was today lowkey and Dylan reminded me and I was like oop 😳 also I am so sorry to everyone that I cannot help but sprinkle the fact that we are now dating in all of my first convos bc IM VERY GAY apologies✨ for how often I'm mentioning it I mean 😂 My tribemates seems so cool, Jennifer and Babs are newbies but seem up to the challenge, Jay A and Colin already giving off immaculate vibes✨ Me and Dyl are hosting Ingary in a month and I do have like work and everything so I don't know exaclty how active I'll be in this game/ how far I'll make it but we'll see won't we!!
Tumblr media
not me being a leader of whateva
~
it's the lack of reading comprehension for me (that was shade directed towards myself)
Tumblr media
In the fools tribe !!! Moth is in my tribe which is good because we have played together before. The immunity challenge is divide and conquer! So I believe I will be doing the endurance one. I think I’ll be okay... and the hunt announcement is a good twist !!! I’m not sure if I’ll participate in the first one.. but I’ll probably change my mind. ANYWAYS, I’m ready to kick some ass
Tumblr media
Hey guys it's me Brayden and I am so here. I'm so excited to be playing again and stuff and I have already predicted the future that I'll be the winner. Anyways I was at an award ceremony for like the first 3 hours of the game which is kind of scary bc I feel like I missed alot but I'm trying to talk to people and stuff and see what's going on. I've briefly talked to Jodi, Amy, and Ginnifer (who is so hard to talk to btw I like send her messages trying to start a real conversation and she will just respond being like same or something). Anyways the other 2 people on my tribe are offline rn so ig I missed my chance to talk to them tonight so I'll do that tomorrow. Anyways I signed up to do counting and I'm so excited bc I literally KILLED the counting challenge on Kyoshi Islands so I'm so excited to hopefully kill it again. I also decided to play the hunt challenge even though I only have 3 chances bc I'm hoping alot of people will be scared to use one of their three chances to play in the first round and I can have a better chance of winning it. But I think I'm bad at puzzles. I didn't think it through that hard I think I got excited to play a challenge but whatever I'll probably win the advantage then in a few weeks win the whole game anyways see u later.
Tumblr media
SO its the morning after the premiere!! Everyone's settled in!! and I kinda don't know how to feel?? Overall the premiere was kinda quiet, nothing happened worth noting tbh. Everyone on the tribe showed up, so thats good, but i think we're all just feeling each other out at the moment as for the people on my tribe! everyone seems chill but also i can't put my finger on it but SOMEHOW this tribe radiates chaotic energy. I don't know HOW or WHY but I just know it DOES. The way we're interacting in the tribe chat it seems like there's a very wide range of personalities and vibes. They're either gonna complement each other or clash, and I guess we're just gonna have to wait to find out which one!!! here are my quick night 1 first impressions that no one asked for :) Anastasia - she showed up kinda late bc she had life happening, understandable. BUT she kinda just jumped right in and started vibing with everyone!! so I think she's gonna be a strong social player. I talked to her and she seems really funny, I think I might really get close with her if I'm able to talk to her more Babs - IF our tribe does end up being chaotic, it's going to be because of Babs. They're definitely the most talkative and prominent person on the tribe, but I think they might come off as messy to others. they're really funny though!! so again I can see myself wanting to work with them if I can get to know them more. They are the biggest question mark on the tribe for me currently Elle - AH. I LOVE THEM ALREADY. Within minutes of us talking they mentioned Dylan and then I found out that they're DATING and I was SCREECHING. cutest shit i've ever heard. I'm so excited to meet and play with them. Dylan is one of my fave people in the org community so ofc I wanna get to know Elle and connect with them as well!! Jay - I think Jay seems like just a very genuine open person?? Like we talked for quite a while yesterday just about games and he was asking me questions about my experience with them and all that. idk if it's because he sees me as a threat or if its because he just actually wanted to get to know me. He lowkey gives me heterosexual vibes and idk if thats true or not but idk how to bring it up. but I def wanna keep talking to him and getting to know him!! I think he might be someone I can form a genuine friendship with Jennifer - kinda have no opinion so far. I think shes the quietest on the tribe. at least for me I didn't get the chance to hear from her much. kinda gives catfish vibes. kinda gives early boot vibes. idk. we'll see what happens!
Tumblr media
Not too much yet tbh. Just finding my footing. People are loving my energy so hopefully they’ll keep me around
Tumblr media
So i realized Amy is runner up from the season before mine in another org and so we connected over that... of course we are not going to tell anyone else but we did have that going for us to get started. brayden is only 16 but he told me he loves magic and wanted to learn more about it so i told him id teach him some stuff! dennis and i called and connected well BUT hes kinda playing SUPER hard and wanting to throw challenges already to vote people out.. this has never worked out for anybody!! josh is cool, he works at a grocery store so he's gonna kill the "b" challenge. ginnifer has been the most MIA but i have faith that we'll work together well for the popularity contest. yall know i cant play the reverse flirt game i so badly want to coin, but i do have romance tea for yall tomorrow. stay tuned........
Tumblr media
Jay and I talked last night so i guess we're best friends. We decided to make an alliance and try to get Elle in it. But everyone has been pretty inactive besides Jay and Collin. I've only slightly talked to Jessica this whole game and Babs hasn't even said one thing to me and I texted them hi. And apperently Babs has left Jay on opened too so they might just suck at talking right now. Hopefully Babs will talk to me they seem so funny and cool D:
Tumblr media
I won endurance 👑!!!! Hopefully the fools tribe wins this!!!! I played against Jennifer and Dennis. I could see myself playing with Dennis down the line if we merge. I haven’t talked to anyone but Moth. So I messaged my whole tribe Introducing myself. Hopefully things work out for me!
Tumblr media
Thoughts after the first 24hrs: https://youtu.be/I62bDSzgf68
Tumblr media
You hear something ??? Same. Why is my tribe so quiet 😂😂😂😂 I’m trying to read off the vibes but I see nothing.
Tumblr media
I really love my tribe and the fact that they don’t know I played last season is a good strategy to play on my end
Tumblr media
tbh i wish we lost i wanted to go to tribal and vote one of these people out :(
Tumblr media
Welp we got second place in the first challenge :| which isn't bad!! But it's not first place 😂😂. But I had a fun day taking pictures so whateverssss. I said I would be chaotic in this game but the opportunity hasn't presented itself yet... Guess we'll have to wait and see✨
Tumblr media
I think at this point, my team is shady and won't say anything to me so I am nervous.
Tumblr media
The challenges were way harder than I thought. I didn't do well at all and let my tribe down. I feel like I will be the first to get voted out if we have a tribal hearing.
Tumblr media
We lost yay. I had a feeling. Hopefully the tribe will keep me around for now since I won endurance.... lhsisowjshwowpwpwheowowhfiwpqpqpjw. Jared thinks we can vote Bri out. Which I’m fine with, I haven’t really talked to her at all. Jared and I are going to message the others and see where everyone’s head is at. Honestly I don’t care who goes home as long as I’m safe. Everyone is quiet which is so annoying. Blahhhhhhhhhh
Tumblr media
Well it’s my 3rd time playing and it’s not off to the best start, no one seems to be talking to anyone. And we lost meaning we are going to tribal council. So fuck- I have no idea what about to happen. I’m just hoping it’s not me or Jess
Tumblr media
if i must confess, my strategy is to have a 4-3-2 alliance. i need a 4 to have a majority, but i dont have a 4 yet. within the 4, theres a three person alliance w me jodi and amy, but within that three i believe that the core 2 is myself and jodi. i really dont care who the 4th is. i like having jodi and amy as an alliance because theyre both doing wayy too much which is great for me :) i dont think any of these people have idols but who knows. i would love to throw the next immunity i wanna go to tribal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
Looks like we’ve got something good. We’ve got an alliance that’s set to (hopefully) vote out bri due to inactivity. Let’s just pray it works
~
Trying to talk in this tribe is so difficult In both my other seasons I was pretty quiet all the time It is like that x10000 I was hoping to stay under the radar but that doesn’t work if no one talks at all I suppose it depends on if I’m being played or if everyone just doesn’t talk. I think there’s a plan. Let’s hope it goes well
Tumblr media
OKAY SO. Moth, Jared and I have a little alliance going on. We are set on voting out Bri. I just talked to Danny and Shaad and they are down with voting Bri out. I have high hopes that I’ll be safe at tribal.
Tumblr media
Better communication.. in sticking with that fact, our communication in my team could be better and we need to put more effort into what we do, I believe in us!
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
The start to this game has been a freaking snails pace...it’s unbelievable to me that these people do not want to talk that much, especially when it’s a tribe of 6. Colin and I talk the most, I’ve gotten a decent amount out of Anastasia, and to me it feels like those 2 wants to work with me and I am fine with working with them. Usually in a larger group you want to figure out who you can work with long term and use the first few tribals to establish trust, I may throw that out the window since there’s only 5 other people on this tribe. My strategy needs to be who the hell can get me past these first few votes before a swap happens, and I feel like I can rely on Colin and Anastasia for that. I’d like to pull in Elle, because she’s the one who’s talked to me the most out of her, Babs, and Jennifer. Everyone seems nice, but it would be lovely if people would be more active.
Tumblr media
I’m enjoying the fact our tribe won the first challenge everyone is very nice I love it :)
Tumblr media
This round has been pretty smooth sailing. I know the game will pick up eventually but for now, we are just going with the flow as a tribe

ok so apparently ginnifer isn't famous. she's just a bit quiet and mysterious. ok with me, just gonna take a while because I'm a loud and outspoken person (and player). amy, dennis and I have an alliance called "fang gang" (it's really just 3 emojis of vampires) and we're going to run the premerge hopefully. I do like brayden a lot, and maybe I'll propose a 3 with him, amy and myself to have a solid 4 control the votes until a swap. round 1 not bad so far!

Power Rankings:
Tumblr media
Phantom
Jodi: I believe Jodi is thriving on this tribe. She is very obviously a social player who picks up on the littlest details. I’m sure she can sniff out a plot if it comes down to it. However, Jodi is the plot. She is the leader of her tribe and is easily the most active person in the game at the moment. So long as she keeps a smile on her face and doesn’t overextend to do something messy, she will find that she will make it safely to merge. Allying with Amy could be dangerous however since Amy has stated she needs to be voted out before a certain date. This means that Jodi needs to socialize with other members of her tribe and get new allies before hers will inevitably be voted out of the game.
Amy: Even though she wants to get voted out, Amy has set herself up perfectly at Jodi’s side. She can take the heat off of herself using Jodi and is able to hide better than others. As always, her UTR game has come out to shine. She hasn’t had anyone call her out and even though Jodi has seen her play she is still able to gain her trust.
Josh: Doing so well in the challenge has earned Josh’s place here. He makes his worth known early and has a great personality as well. This makes him very safe for any early tribal councils as no one is going to want to take him out; they want him on their side. Similar to Amy, he just seems to be using an under the radar social game which he is executing well at the present moment. And, as the star of the challenge, he makes himself safe for future tribals before the swap. However, I do fear that this early impression of competition prowess will come back to haunt him if he makes it to the merge.
Dennis: I would put Dennis higher, but Jodi, his ally, already is suspicious of him. She seems to think of him as a bit of a sneak and, as the tribe leader, her opinions matter the most. It is good that he is able to be Jodi’s ally so she might stray away from voting him out. However, his desire to go to tribal and play the game so early may bite him in the butt later down the line. I can definitely see him being called out for trying to play too hard too fast. At the moment, he remains high because he seems to be decently social and no one except Jodi has sniffed him out.
Brayden: There’s not much to say on Brayden’s game. He doesn’t seem to have any allies, his challenge performance wasn’t as good as others on his tribe, and he is not in any alliances yet. This spells disaster for Brayden if his tribe goes to consecutive tribal councils. Additionally, even though he was one of the few to play in the Hunt, he didn’t win and wasn’t even close to doing so. He even gave up part way through to do the immunity challenge. I would be saving them if I were Brayden, but hindsight is 20/20. If Brayden can squeeze into being the fourth of the Jodi, Amy, Dennis alliance instead of Josh then maybe his game forecast will be better.
Ginnifer: The thing that lands Ginnifer on the bottom is that she said that her tribe could vote her out if they lost the challenge. This primes people to already be willing to get rid of her in this game. Additionally, some people have expressed difficulty with talking to Ginny such as Jodi and Amy. The former still wants to give Ginny a try at being an ally while the latter was ready to vote her out if necessary. Ginny just needs to pick up social steam and outperform in the next comp if she’s going to have longevity in this game.
Fools
Jessica: In lieu of a clear leader, Jessica has stepped up as she started the first alliance on her tribe with Moth and Jared. No doubt, Jessica’s prior relationship with Moth helped facilitate. Additionally, this seems to paint them as the “active” members of this not active tribe. Therefore, it will be very easy for Jessica to dictate votes without getting labelled as a threat since her tribe is not active enough to do so. I can definitely see her leaning on Moth as a crutch, but for now she is the topdog of her tribe. Especially so since she was the only member of her tribe to win a challenge in Divide and Conquer.
Moth: As Jessica’s right-hand person, Moth is a secure spot. It also helped that they have played this game before and is on a not active tribe. This vibes well with Moth’s gameplay style since they aren’t a social powerhouse like Jodi or Colin. Instead, she keeps it more lowkey which makes this tribe in particular a great tribe for her to thrive in.
Jared: While he hasn’t provided a confessional yet, it’s clear he’s positioned himself well with Moth and Jessica. As the topdogs of the tribe, they are key people to get in with. Besides that, he seems to be a little more active than some others, but there’s not much else to say as of right now.
Danny/Shaad: Him and Shaad can trade spots on this ranking because they are playing similar games at the moment. They are both quiet and inactive, yet are not part of the core alliance of this tribe. This could spell danger for them in upcoming tribal councils if they don’t start working on people now. They seem to be safe for now based solely on Bri’s inactivity, but, otherwise, they need to pick up their socio-strategic game before it is too late.
Bri: She seems to be the most likely person to get voted out. She was not online at all for the first two days of the game and has since remained inactive. She is easy pickings for the top 3 of this tribe which really hurts my heart. I know her in real life and she is very sociable and easy to get along with. I have no doubt that in a real life game of Survivor or Big Brother, she would kill the social game.
S.E.E.S.
Colin: Similar to Jodi, Colin is the most social person on his tribe at the moment. However, unlike Jodi, he has not taken a leader position which works to his benefit. Despite being social, Colin has been able to slip under the radar of most people with a lot of them wanting to work with him. Colin is easily going to survive until the swap, but I will caution him from getting too many allies too quickly. This tribe in particular has a wildcard willing to blow things like that up so he needs to be careful.
Elle: Similar to her previous games, Elle plays an extraordinary social game and becomes very well-liked very easily. They have no problem fitting into any situation and I foresee them making it far if they gain the right allies. What puts her at number 2 as opposed to number 1 is that she hasn’t made any strategic comments yet. Instead, she is focusing on a social game which is not a bad thing. Colin has just shown more of his gameplay in these rounds.
Anastasia: Anastasia, despite being late to the premiere, has been able to socialize with key people such as Colin and Jay. Her prior connection with Elle has also sparked an interest in Colin in working with the two of them as an alliance. Overall, her and Elle sort of share the 2 and 3 spot since they are both well-liked, did well in the challenge, and are prime allies for Colin whose word will feel like law if this tribe ever goes to tribal.
Jay: Jay is neither here nor there. He isn’t in the bottom, but he is not calling the shots either. It is good that Colin wants him as his number 1 and that Anastasia likes him. Out of the three outside of this potential Elle, Colin, Anastasia alliance, he seems like he will be most likely to be saved until a swap occurs. His calls with people have certainly been helping with that as people are able to bond more with him through there. His activity could use work, but he doesn’t need to be active if he’s liked.
Babs: With another Jodi comparison, Babs has taken the leadership position of their tribe. However, they are not as social and, in fact, considered a big threat since they are so willing to talk freely and openly in the tribe chat. Their gameplay is going to be Messy, and people have already pointed that out, making them a clear target if this tribe goes to tribal council. Despite that, they aren’t at the bottom since some people, like Colin, have expressed interest in working with that kind of player as a sort of shield. If Babs were to tone it down and be more social with people (another problem with their game), they may be able to crawl up these rankings.
Jennifer: Sadly I have to put another phonetic Jennifer at the bottom. She did the worst in the challenge across her tribe and isn’t active either. For this round, it seems she would be the easy vote if this tribe had gone to tribal. She needs to start being more social and be more of a presence in people’s minds.

Ingary Magazine presents... the 2021 Selection
Every year, the prestigious Ingary Council selects a group of the ten brightest young sorcerers who have Emerged within the past year. Ingary does biannual Emergence ceremonies, each complete with a big ball afterwards. These young sorcerers usually range in age from 22 to 25, though there have been cases of them making the list as young as 18 (see, Howl Pendragon).
This list is picked mostly on raw ability, but also any intriguing person will catch the attention of the Council, be it from infamy, theatricality, or family name. Thus, the Selection does not necessarily represent the most powerful or knowledgeable young sorcerers of the year -- but it always represents the ones to watch.
As each year’s Emerging class debuts in society, they will be courted by a variety of Covens in Ingary. These ten specifically will be hot commodities and the talk of the town for the upcoming year.
[descriptions under the cut bc they’re so smol on the image]
Mx. Trey Morgyn: The youngest child of Ingary’s Morgyn family, Trey has been one to watch. They surprised their family by stepping out of the Morgyn tradition of telekinesis specialties and has dazzled the covens with their work in Aether magic. Trey hopes to eventually master a Light and Shadow specialty, with emphasis on Shadow.
Mr. J.R. Robicheaux: Of the New Orleans Robicheaux sorcerers, J.R. came to study his specialty in Ingary under the tutelage of some of the finest elemental scholars. The Robicheaux family prides themselves on elite elemental magic, and J.R. is no different. Between him and Trey, the next generation of elemental sorcerers is sure to dazzle Ingary.
Mr. Drake Campbell: A newcomer to Ingary society, Drake hails from a Mundus family, but has nevertheless demonstrated a remarkable aptitude for spellcasting and a rapid understanding of transmutation. Drake has stood out particularly for his innovation in improvisational spell creation, making him one to watch.
Ms. Layla Mirza: Like her late brother before her, Layla's rapid mastery of the abomination specialty has caught the attention of the most acclaimed scholars. She hopes to pick up where her brother left off and innovate new animation techniques.
Ms. Cyrena Killian: Another United States ex-pat, Cyrena hails from Salem and comes from a long-line of sorcerers, who can trace their heritage back to infamous witch trials. In addition to her aptitude for telekinesis, her dueling proficiency has been unrivaled.
Mr. Diego Rivera: Strong prophetic abilities manifested in Diego at a young age, and he's spent years honing his gift and taking to the crystal ball. He hopes to bring the old style of divination back into vogue, claiming that the crystal allows for clearer visions. He has, thus far, been right.
Ms. Astrid Shadowend: Astrid aspires to be the first storm sorceress in her family, who normally specialize in animation. She finds inspiration in tradition and taps into ancient rituals in order to hone her craft. Astrid is responsible for reviving some of the old customs for this year's Samhain festival.
Mr. Cullen Rosethorn: For the first time in publication history, Ingary Magazine honors a Battle Mage on this list. Cullen has proved that the specialty can have a more cerebral edge to it, and has experimented with incorporating more traditional spellcasting into the specialty.
Mr. Kadir Ravin:  After fleeing the French government, Kadir sought refuge in Ingary, where he's studied with the most elite telepathy coven. His skills are strong and have made waves within Ingary society for some possibly controversial (yet certainly impressive and not illegal) uses.
Ms. Hermia Pentaghast:  The current protégé of Madame Suliman, Hermia's flair for the theatrical caught the experienced sorceress's eye and she immediately took Hermia under her wing. Hermia seeks to master not just five sense of illusion, but an elusive and theorized sixth one in order to truly fool the mind.
