So I was reading this post about how unsatisfactory Jason's position in the Bat Family is and how, basically, DC needs to find a way to keep the conflict between Jason and Bruce up, make their relationship just a little more amicable to keep them working together and not necessarily let Jason "win" the moral argument he's supposed to be having with Bruce.

And I agree, for the most part.

And those who have me on discord (or look at some of my AU posts) already know my solution for this.

Which is simply

Give Jason A Baby.

Not a sidekick. Not a kid who is just briefly in his life. Not some one-off character who he'll never have to deal with again.

A baby. His baby. A child he won't get rid of or shrug onto someone else.

This does a few interesting things for his character:

It forces him to confront his trauma around family. Is he worth loving? Worth keeping? Is this how Willis felt holding him as a baby? Is this how Catherine felt? What did Willis feel, having held baby Jason, and then choosing (for whatever reason) to leave him for weeks, possibly months at a time? How did Catherine feel, dying by the side of the child she'd loved and couldn't care for anymore? How did Sheila feel, knowing she'd never get to see the baby she birthed ever again?

This trauma also extends to Bruce. Did he feel anything for Jason that Jason does for his child? Did it overwhelm Bruce with love and joy, or was Bruce just relieved he wasn't alone anymore? Did Bruce ever fear what he was doing to Jason, putting him in the Robin costume? Would Jason ever be willing to put his child through that?

This also introduces a new conflict about who, exactly, gets to be around Jason's baby. There are people who would assume they get to see the child that Jason decides, no, actually, they don't. Ever. Bruce might be one of them.

Newer conflicts, still: What happens to Red Hood with a child who needs him? If he's willing to be Red Hood while this child -- a child who reminds him so much of himself, already -- still needs him actively in their life, then isn't he just as bad as Bruce? Willis? Wasn't he supposed to be better than them? What is he willing to give up to ensure this child never feels alone and abandoned like he did?

At what point does Jason decide he needs to either change his life completely, give up the one unconditional family he's had in a decade, or accept the help of people around him?

Does his moral code still hold water in the presence of a child who'd never fully escape the Sins of the Father? Even if the people Red Hood kills ultimately betters Gotham or anywhere else, is it worth it to know that if his kid is discovered, their life is in danger?

Everything is forced to change in the presence of a child who just doesn't fucking know what's going on.

Jason isn't the exception.

It is done (enough)!

I would hype it up more but this is really really simple. It randomly generates a set of symbols, colors, and a word, and then the expected thing to do with those is you draw some sort of character based off the result you get. So it's just an art challenge toy thingy.

There are also some practical features like you can lock parts of the result in place to rerandomize the rest, or hide parts of the generation you don't care about (like if you want to pick your own colors or hate the words being there)

It should run in browser, but there's also a downloadable version for Windows if you want to use it offline. (No mac/linux versions for now, because I don't have appropriate computers to test those on and I...don't want to deal with mac's developer accounts or whatever their problem is...)
