The door to your apartment creaks open and heavy footsteps enter, the jangling sounds of house keys hitting the ceramic bowl reaching your ears with a sigh following.

"Good evening, Jerome." You coo.

"I did not pick that name, quit calling me it." Five huffs as he shrugs off his suit jacket, entering the living room. He looked tired, but he was okay with that. He didn't want to settle for some repetitive job he'd be bored as hell at. Even if they gave him stupid aliases like Jerome.

"You could have at least asked. That's embarrassing, telling people your name is Jerome. What about...Ethan? Or even something that's close to Five. Like, Finn, or something." You answered with a chuckle, while Five crumpled on the couch next to you.

"There isn't any point. It's not like you need to go around calling me that name." He said, taking off his tie and laying it across the arm of the sofa. "Anyway, how was work?" He asked, taking off his brown Oxfords and laying them nearby but out of the main walkway. He reached over to the stack of papers on the coffee table and looked at the first page. "Jesus, this is the sloppiest handwriting I've ever seen."

"Ah yes, because children who still have shitty motor skills are going to be writing in perfect print. That's why they only have to write their names, not write full-fledged essays." You said sarcastically, plucking the piece of paper from his hands. You looked over the assignment your kindergarteners were given. The instructions were to count the different types of bugs on the paper. There were no more than 9 of each bug. 4 butterflies, 7 caterpillars, 1 beetle, 8 spiders.

"I was never that dumb." Five said a little snarkily, pointing to the answer spot that said there were only 5 caterpillars.

"Don't be such a prick." You huffed, getting out a blue pen. You didn't like to use red, too harsh. You circled each answer wrong, not making any corrections.

"How are you even meant to teach them this? It's basic counting." Five asked, sort of actually curious.

"We'll just go over it in class tomorrow. Everyone will count together."

"Then what's the point of the homework?"

You groaned. "We are not having this conversation anymore, old man." You pulled out a pack of stickers, putting one on each sheet of paper.

"You're just as old." He countered with a smirk, leaving you to roll your eyes and continue 'grading' the papers. He did shut up and drop the subject, letting his hand stray to your hand that wasn't busy grading papers. He wasn't ever one for physical affection in the past, but ever since getting to this place? He was more lenient. He was never hanging off of you, but his touches were gentler. Each contact of skin was a small way of saying 'I love you', because it was hard to say it out loud after years of isolation.

The biggest way of him saying he loved you was twisting the ring that nicely fit on your finger like he was doing right now. Like he was making sure you were aware of its presence and meaning.

You finished the papers in less than five minutes. You did not envy the fourth-grade teachers who had actual homework to grade. "Your dinner is in the fridge." You told him, taking his other hand and playing with the black band that adorned his ring finger.

"Not hungry." He said shortly, like he was offended you'd ever assume he wanted to do something aside from this. He wouldn't ever say that out loud, of course.

"It's sushi. Made by yours truly." You added, holding back a chuckle when he sucked in a deep breath, very torn between the options. It was weird, able to sit and think about something. He wasn't rushing home to eat and go to bed, he got to do domestic shit with you and fuck did he love it.

"..." Five stayed silent like a brooding teenager.

"I'll come with you." You reasoned, and he reluctantly sat up. You smiled and got up with him, the two of you traversing to the kitchen. He opened the door to the fridge and grabbed the small Tupperware of delicious looking sushi. You were not a fan of Commission cafeteria food, and you took pride in buying the best ingredients for you and your spouse. You were already grabbing him a pair of chopsticks, sitting with him at the kitchen island.

"...thanks." He said after eating a roll. He was stubborn, but he really did appreciate you taking the time to make more for him when he got home late. It was so nice to come home to a homemade meal. It reminded him of Grace.

"Of course, honey." You smiled, sitting in silence while he ate. He savored every moment. After being in the apocalypse for forty years, he really grew to appreciate the things he didn't have. He swore he would never take this life for granted.

He never questioned why, because the whole reason was sitting right next to him.

After a bit of contemplating on what to do next, you decide to get some stickers and the mask and head to the couch to relax as you “redecorate” his mask. You chuckle to yourself as you peel the stickers off the sheet and put them on his mask, putting a few bi flags on it, then some stickers of characters from your favorite anime.

After you finish you hold up the mask to admire your handiwork before laying it down on the table to watch some tv as you wait for Simon to come home. However, a little reassurance helps that insecurity.

• Also bedtimes are a must.

Thoughts on last week’s B&R?

It is incredible how many individual small decisions that make sense in isolation can come together so bafflingly stupidly when you look at the whole picture.

They wanted to make a new un-set. Why not! Unstable was well-received and having an actual functional draft environment and cohesive creative worked great for it!

Un-sets are a testing ground for stuff magic isn't quite ready for yet. Plus people loved the delivery on Contraptions in Unstable, so we can explore more of that space!

Alright, we have figured out attractions, playing close to the chest with something very similar to Contraptions, but since we want to still try some out there stuff, we discussed with our printer and we think we can make stickers work!

Stickers are fun! We tried to put the test runs on and off cards and sleeves a couple times and it didn't leave residue, so it should work great! It's wacky, and there's no way we'd try that in black border magic.

Alright, we got a solid thing going on, people are having fun! But people are reluctant to try silver border cards... Wouldn't the set do better if people felt like they were allowed to play with the cards? Plus, to make a cohesive draft environment, most of them aren't too weird anyway.

OK, we can make this work, we'll just make the ones that don't break the rules too much legal in commander, just have to be careful about the cards not being too good in Legacy. We don't have the budget to test for legacy, but we'll be safe, we know what we're doing! Plus, what's the worst that could happen, at worst we ban a card.

We can't mix borders within printing sheets and it's too late to rework the printing sheets for the set... We'll find a workaround, that's fine.

Attractions and stickers are the first mechanics of their kind, but they're the main mechanics of the set! If we don't make them legal, we'll only have a handful of cards legal, and would be disappointing. It's fine, our Rules Managers can make it work, that's the biggest challenge.

What a fun lighthearted set this was throughout the design and testing process! I'm sure people are gonna love it!

Oh, the glue for our stickers went out of business... Well, we'll delay the set until we can replace it, I guess, bummer.

Alright! It releases literally the same day as another product, but it's still the same fun, wacky set, can't wait for people to see it!

Over 50 cards get banned in vintage, half the legal cards from the set. For the sheer logistical implications of the mechanic, and a couple outliers. The entire concept of Unsets is once again in jeopardy.

Now that I've got a master grade version of Char's Zaku II, I had to get a Gundam too. I've really liked the added detail, complexity, and accessories of the Origin kits... So I went with the MG Origin RX-78-02.

This is only the second master grade kit I've built, so I'm still kind of feeling my way through the line. It's a big box, with lots of plastic.

I was a little dismayed to see a sheet of foil stickers in the box. I can't help feeling like something called "master grade" shouldn't need foil stickers. Give me some reflective/metallic/plated parts!

Also... The sticker-style decal sheet seemed awfully small? There aren't actually that many markings on this kit.

Of course I had to paint the pilot figures.

I don't generally feel the need to paint the figures with the RG kits because I never use them for anything. But the MG kits have a seated pilot figure you can actually put into the cockpit... And it seems wrong to leave them unpainted.

This is another very solid build... But I think I kind of expected more? I was sort of expecting more parts-layering as I built the kit. Like there's absolutely none of that grey inner-frame showing through to the outside. Nothing peeking through those yellow vents. And that's a little disappointing.

These hands honestly kind of scare me. They're pre-assembled on the runner like the Advanced MS Joint runner you get in an RG. And they're fully articulated. Each knuckle of every finger is individually bendable. I feel like they're going to break if I just look at them wrong.

I'd love to pick up some replacement, pre-posed hands for this kit... But they seem to be largely unavailable. They're sold-out everywhere I looked, and selling for something like $50 on eBay. So I'm going to have to live with these articulated hands for now.

I'm not loving this head right now.

Apparently there's an LED kit that'll light up the eyes... But I don't have one. I thought about building it with the solid yellow eyes, but I don't want to disassemble it later to install the clear parts for the LED kit. So it's got dark, dead eyes for now.

Also - seems like there's a lot of white on this head? I kind of want the v-fin to be yellow, even though I know that's not right. (I actually double-checked, because the white is bugging me so much.)

I grabbed some Delpi Decal waterslide decals for this kit - my first time using Delpi Decal.

I was again surprised at how few markings go on this kit... Half the decal sheet is extras. I guess I was kind of expecting the RG-style decal overload.

The Delpi decals work pretty good. They release from the paper very quickly, and stick very well. My only complaint is that the speckly blue backing-paper makes it very hard to see the white decals. But maybe that's just my old eyes being cranky.

You get a lot of goodies in this kit... Two different beam rifles, a shoulder cannon, bazooka, the shield, and two beam sabers. Plus some odds and ends like effects parts and bazooka ammo.

I had a great time building this kit... But I'm honestly kind of wishing it was a little more like the RG.

It's a fantastic kit. It builds well. Lots of accessories. Very solid, great articulation, poses very well. Lots to love...

But I can't help feeling like all those white panels are kind of boring. I want more surface detail. Variations in white tone. Different panels. More markings.

I really kind of want a giant-size RG.

Robin limps through the door to Family Video ten minutes after her shift started. At least Steve is the manager now, and she’s working with Chrissy today.

“What happened?” Chrissy asks as Robin rounds the counter. Her eyes widen. “You’re bleeding.”

“I came off my bike again.” Robin’s face heats. She’s not usually embarrassed by her klutziness these days, but… It’s Chrissy. She shrugs her backpack off, slinging it under the counter, and dips her hand into her pocket for some bandaids.

But then Chrissy says, “Here,” putting down a sheet of lurid ‘weekly’ stickers, and setting her hands on Robin’s shoulders, “come with me.” She pushes Robin toward the backroom, steering her into a swivel chair.

“What are you doing?”

“Fixing you up.” Chrissy looks around, ponytail swishing as she turns. “There!” She comes back over to Robin holding a first-aid kit.

“I have bandaids.” Robin holds up a handful of them.

Chrissy waves her off and actually kneels before Robin, setting the first-aid kit beside her.

“I’ve seen worse at cheer practice. I got this graze all down my thigh once.” Chrissy’s nose wrinkles. “And one girl at cheerleader camp lost a tooth. There was blood everywhere.”

Robin winces in sympathy, or maybe it’s the antiseptic Chrissy’s daubing on. “I’ve seen some pretty gruesome things at soccer practice.”

Chrissy smiles up at her, gently wiping the blood and dirt away from Robin’s skin.

Robin’s heart beats hard. She can’t believe Chrissy Cunningham is kneeling before her, tending to her wounds. God. She can’t wait to tell Steve!

Chrissy sets aside the bloodied cloth, wipes Robin’s skin dry, then smooths a yellow bandaid over Robin’s knee. “Is that okay?”

Robin nods, voice lost.

And then Chrissy gently cups Robin’s knee and presses a soft kiss to it. It sets tingles going under Robin’s skin. Chrissy looks up from under her lashes and asks, “Better?”

Robin swallows thickly. “Uh-huh.”

“Good.” Chrissy bites her lip. It looks like she wants to say something, but then someone yells out, “Does anybody work here?” and Chrissy pushes herself to her feet. “I’ll go deal with that,” she says and goes back out to the store.

Robin flops back in the chair, arms falling to either side. “Oh my god,” she says to the ceiling, “I’m so in love.”

Chrissy pokes her head in. “Did you say something?”

“Nope!” Robin gives a nervous smile. “I mean… I said I’ll be right out.” It’s a terrible lie, but it seems to satisfy Chrissy and she goes back to deal with the customer.

Robin sighs, swinging on the chair and hugging her arms around herself. Chrissy Cunningham kissed her! Okay, she kissed her knee, but still! Her lips touched Robin’s skin!

Robin pushes herself to her feet and floats out to the store to help Chrissy with a difficult customer. Usually, Robin would be planning their murder in her head, but even the worst customer won’t bring Robin down today.

you wrote a headcanon list a little bit ago about rain using crutches while regressed. i would absolutely love if you would either expand on that or write something with that happening (feel free to take your time with this! your regression fics are just very comforting to me and i really enjoy them, i am just very interested in this idea)

eek, okay !!! thank you enabling me in my regressed rain ramblings, dearest anon <3 i'm going to write out a few headcanons for you, because i've got a few other asks requesting a little rain with crutches ficlet ! so eventually, a ficlet about this will appear as well :)

i'd like to start off with a disclaimer that i am not a crutches user, so if any of this information is wrong or comes off in a way i don't intend it to, i'm sorry. please feel free to correct me, though !! i want to learn !!

my personal headcanons for rain are all over the place, haha !! but for the purposes of answering this lovely little ask, i'm going to use he/they pronouns for rain and i'm imagining them as being hypermobile :D i mentioned some of the not-so-specific specifics in the headcanon post you're referring to, but let's recap, shall we ?

when they're regressed, rain tends to have a slightly altered gait. he walks with his feet turned/rolled inwards which puts more pressure on his knees than usual, and sometimes this can lead to him being in more pain when he's regressed than when he isn't. while he does use crutches when he isn't regressed, he tends to need them more when he's small, so it's important that they have a set of crutches to use specifically when they're regressed !

and as for my actual crutch headcanons:

i like to imagine that the forearm crutches rain uses while they're regressed have a thicker grip, which helps to keep them feeling small when they use them. otherwise, his hands feel too big against the handle and it pushes him out of his regressed headspace too quickly

they decorate their crutches with stickers, they made sure to concentrate very hard in order to get the sticker placement just right !! the body of his crutches are covered in a monumental amount of stickers. they're mostly his own dinosaur stickers from sticker sheets that swiss has given him, but dew and swiss chipped in a few flame ones that go up the length of the crutches, sunshine and aether gave him lots of small and brightly coloured stars. there's also a few little clouds (and raindrops, which make rain giggle every time he spots a new one because, well, rain) dotted about here and there from cirrus and cumulus, and mountain managed to find a couple of succulent stickers with little faces too !!

sometimes he ties ribbons to his crutches (read: he gets aether to do it for him) for a bit of extra flair, but they don't have the ribbons on all the time because depending on what they're doing that day, sometimes the ribbons get in the way

once he got so enthralled by the ribbons that they didn't look where they were going and fell over. he hurt himself quite badly, so the others cracked down some pretty intense ribbon-usage rules after that

now that they have a pair of decorated crutches to use when they're regressed, rain is more inclined to ask for them when he needs a helping hand to walk around. although, he's not immune to forgetting he needs them and being reprimanded by mountain for walking all the way down to the greenhouse without their mobility aids

First project is done :D

Actually, even though I'm in two studios this semester, I'm likely only going to post class projects for my digital one, since the other is a figure drawing class, and I can't exactly post drawings of other real people (we will do a self portrait, so I *might* share that one if it doesn't turn out as inaccurate as the last one did).

I can't lie, this isn't exactly how I wanted it to turn out. I actually started to hand draw in more complex shading, but when I opened the file this morning, everything I had done over the weekend was completely gone (weird computer issue, not because I forgot to save it). I ended up having to add in some reallly simple shadows at the last minute (just because some of these really needed some modicum of depth in order to work), and barely got this done in time. But, it's done, and it's turned in :)

This project was meant to familiarize us with using Adobe Illustrator; we were told to make a sheet of 6-10 stickers that represented a place we can't actually go to. I actually did a very similar project last spring; that time, we were told to depict a place that we wanted to go to, so a real place. This one was was a bit more abstract, and I'm in my baby-ex-christian era, so I really wanted to do heaven and hell for this. It felt like tasteful blasphemy, and it felt nice doing this for a prompt that implied that these places weren't real. Made me happy :D my professor loved the idea, so I took it and ran with it haha.

The class loved it; mine was the first one they wanted to discuss during critique after the only volunteer went, and it felt really nice. I put a ton of time into this so I'm happy to see it pay off even if it's not exactly how I wanted it to turn out.

I'll probably play around with it more? I won't be doing the complex shading I initially had planned because that was not a fun experience to have to redo. Some color and shape adjustments are needed for me to be fully happy with it though, so that'll probably be a "my personal free time" thing.

I went to war with the Cricut in the art building, but managed to get one set to cut well :D my classmates took some of the ones I cute out, which made me really happy. I'll be making some more to give to friends so I'll probably post more about my paper cutter woes on my alt within the next week haha

If anyone is interested in having some, lmk and I'll see if I can figure out how to mail them? I can't say for sure if I'll be doing that just yet, but if some people are interested I'll look into it!

Anyway, I'm still proud of these, and I think that even with the hiccups included, this still turned out light-years better than the last time I did this project (or, a veeery similar one). Will definitely be decreasing the detail scale on the next project though :')

After several months of forgetting, and then finally starting to get stuff together only to forget what day of the week it was: Merch Monday has officially become Merch Whatever-Day-I-Remember (Ideally Monday When Possible). But I AM finally back on it!

And of the things that are overdue, the Chiaki Zine is having their leftovers sale, so it seems like about time for me to do a write up on it!

Firstly, the zine itself!

I love this zine. I don't consider myself a Chiaki stan, but this is one of my favorite zines I own. And while of course part of that is from a fantastic set of art and writing, a LOT of it is because of the theming. I had expected the video games to be a loose theme, but it was very tight - every single piece prominently featured a game, and the only repeats were in easter eggs like the Pokemon plushies in this Sims piece.

As someone who makes and loves video games, it was so cool paging through this and seeing all the references. They're all done with exceptional care. It takes a moment to figure out some of them just because of adjustments to match Chiaki's visuals (it took me a long time to figure out this was Sims because of the UI not being blue!) but most clock on sight.

There's a list of all the games referenced in the back so that you can check against yourself. The only thing I wished for was some sort of reference for which games were on which page, so that you could get the general sense of the ones you didn't recognize to investigate further. The theme makes this zine feel incredibly tight and well-crafted, in addition to the zine itself being high quality without any immediately noticeable defects.

This print is one of the things I was most excited for with merch! It has started to bend a bit now that it's been a few months, but not more than any other print I own. It's nice and smooth, texture-wise. And really cute!!

These stickers are very cute (for some reason I forget to get a picture of the larger Pokemon sticker sheet? Hopefully I'll remember to grab another one before this post is scheduled). The Smash Brothers are SO tiny!! That's not a bad thing, I just hadn't expected it. I picked up Sakura's Peach since she's my own Smash main (and namesake!) and Aoi's Daisy, and then my favorite fight girls. Part of me does want to order a couple more so I can get the super interesting concept of Mario Chiaki/Peach Sakura and my other main Isabel/Kaede. The stickers themselves are only 50 cents each, not counting whatever shipping!

And here is the keychain! (With Mario Chiaki and Peach Sonia this time! The tangled webs our Mario AUs weave.) This is actually one of the reasons it took so long to review the zine, as when I finally opened it up, it had a big crack across it. They got me a replacement more or less as soon as they switched shipping mods, and I had no trouble with the new one! I wasn't actually that excited about this keychain, but it's really growing on me.

I honestly didn't expect to love this zine as much as I do. It's so cute, and lots of love and care was obviously put into it. I have no significant complaints about it or its quality. I would definitely recommend grabbing it while you can!

It was a nice day at work. I am feeling really tired tonight but I think that's mostly because I am cold. Very much ready to go to bed.

I slept alright last night but my nose was all stuffy and painful when I woke up and so I felt really really tired. James came and gave me a big hug as soon as I sat up after my alarm went off. It helped me feel better.

I got cleaned up and dressed. Wore the new crew neck my mom got me. I just wanted to be cozy. I was struggling a little. My fingers hurt really bad and I couldn't get my shoe on and James helped me because they love me and I was very grateful.

James and me left together. I always like watching them bike away. It was very cold today. Frosty. I'm glad it feels like winter.

I had a nice drive to camp. And got there alright at 8. I was happy to be inside where it was warm.

I had a productive morning. I had my breakfast and started working on writing up a description for the CIT program. I would use chatgbT to give me some framework and worked on using that to build up a really professional description. I am pretty pleased. I would print that and the schedule I made. Then decided to do more printing. I figure that since we are going to have a meeting about the 3 things we wanted to accomplish with John the consultant. Cit program, training, new programs.

Alexi would come in around 9. And everyone else would come in within the hour. Sarah worked on research for the training manual. I would go through some old documents and pulling things I think will be helpful. Games and reading and such.

It was a really productive morning though. I would take a walk to the lodge. I filled my water over there and chatted with Joe. He teased me about forgetting my stuffing from the holiday party, but I was glad to have my cookware back.

I looked at the books in the musuem. I went and looked at the nurses office because they are almost done fixing the roof. Very nice.

I would have lunch when I got back to the office. And while I was eating I decided I should come up with a document for meal ideas for dietary restrictions for the summer so I don't have to try and think of options when I'm very close to tears during the summer.

This would be like a two hour research project. Looking into other camps menus. I found an article about Jewish and 7th day Adventists camps and they had lots of options! So I researched how to make them vegan or gluten free or nut free. And I only had like 2 fake meat options.

After asking Heather, I found out where the kitchen orders their food from so I was able to compile links for ingredients. I was very proud of myself.

Once I was done that I had a zoom meeting with Hawa and Mike from the national guards and I'm thrilled that I have 2 workshops on the calendar with them now. One is a paint and sip style, that we are calling a "paint along", and the other I think will be a printmaking.

I had to make some invoices for them. And that took a minute. But that was just fine.

I would finish my day with designing some stickers ideas for each village. I had a lot of fun creating that. I want to play with the idea of merch for camp more. We will see if any of it actually gets used but still it's fun to design it.

I would also decide on my birthday countdown project. I'm going to do a sticker sheet/flash sheet, with a daily drawing. I'm excited. That will start on the 15th.

I said goodbye to everyone and would head out. I told Sarah I would check at Manor Mill for her last bowl while I was looking for my last 5 pieces. And it is such a quick drive over. I was happy to see my pieces. The colors weren't what I was expecting but I love love love my bear bowl. I'm going to keep my jewelery in it.

I went home and got here before James. I was happy to be home. I put some stuff away. And worked on sending some emails. James got home as I was starting to do my knitting for the day. I love how it looks so far. I know we are still really early in the project but I am setting a good precedent and already weaving in the ends. I will have to sew them down once the month is done but I am very pleased so far.

James would sit with me and tell me all about their day while I worked. And I would show them the documents I made and made me feel very smart and professional. I love my husband.

They got us frozen pizzas we could microwave for dinner. And after we ate they went to play DND with their friends. Well actually it's a different game but same idea. It was nice to see friends' faces.

I took a shower and washed my hair and now I am in bed in my cozy jumpsuit. I am very much ready to sleep.

I hope tomorrow is a good day. And I hope you all have fun. Stay safe. Wash your hands. I love you all.

I assume the turtles did their best to celebrate Casey’s birthdays whenever they could, but is the reverse also true? Did Casey ever try to do something birthday related for the turts during the apocalypse?

Angelo never had any intention of being a dad because he was busy trying to keep his family together and relatively sane. Fatherhood did not seem like something he could juggle on top of that (and it was obvious from the beginning Leonardo would fight him to the death anyway).

He did like being an uncle! Or aunt, as the day went. And his mystic magic let him entertain Casey easily - Angelo could replicate fireflies and Casey was absolutely entranced with them ever since he was a baby. Angelo could also float Casey around, which neither of them ever got tired of even when Casey was a teenager. Casey was, however, mildly disappointed that he did not have his own magic powers.

When Cass died, it was Angelo who was the only one who knew how to help Casey process his grief. It wasn't the best circumstances for them to bond further, but Casey appreciated every single time that Angelo would get up early or stay up late for him. Losing Angelo broke his heart, poor kid </3

Distractions were a dime a dozen for Angelo, so Casey got handed off to a family member fairly often. But if Angelo wasn't the one initiating the handoff, anyone trying to steal little Casey, was going to end up tied in a corner with mystic chains. He's protective, what can I say?

That also made him a very good protector from the Krang! He was the best at long-range protection, because of his mystic chains, and Casey always thought it was super cool how Angelo could do that. Personality was another bonus - out of all the turtles, Angelo was best at making dangerous situations seem less scary.

Leonardo was a dad from day one. He did not intend to be. Their first meeting is a drabble here. Casey's cape is the sling that Leonardo used to carry baby Jr around in! And Leonardo outlined the red stripes on Casey's mask so Casey could colour them in.

Jr was constantly running away from school, babysitters, etc, so he could go find His Dad and see what he was up to. This caused quite a few problems as he was constantly scaring the shit out of whoever was supposed to be watching him. Eventually they just assigned babysitting duties to Leonardo to skip all the problems.

Leonardo did not mind this at all. Despite their rough beginning, he adjusted to fatherhood easily, and he and Jr are bonded in the same way as Leonardo and Tello. When he lost his arm, he got full-time babysitting duty during recovery, and it helped him settle a little. Plus he got to cuddle Casey the whole time.

Trying to get Casey away from Leonardo was a dangerous business. It involved biting and even some blunt force trauma. Out of the whole entire resistance, Cass and Tello were the only ones who could do it safely. They tried a schedule but Leonardo had no respect for it (Angelo's words) so they just waited until Leonardo fell asleep and sneaked him away.

Were it not for Casey's loyalty to his mom (and eventually his mom's memory), he would have wanted a sword just like his dad. Since he was often found near Leonardo, and Leonardo was one of the best fighters in the resistance, Casey saw a lot of swordfighting! And the occasional twin fight, gotta settle sibling squabbles somehow.

Red would let Casey climb all over her like a jungle gym. As a kid, he was just small enough to fit between the top of her shell and her shoulders, and he would nap there while she was sitting and doing something. Every so often she'd forget he was up there and stand up and then have to catch him. He always thought it was funny and she always found it vaguely nerve-wracking.

Getting Casey away from Red was, technically, the hardest. Casey would climb up to sit on her shoulders and nobody else would be able to reach him up there. He found this extremely funny, especially when it came to Cass who's five-foot-nothing.

I've mentioned this before somewhere, but Red always knew she was going to be the first one to die. She's the family's protector, and that's what happens to protectors. So she let Casey get away with murder and doted on him 24/7 because she wanted him to remember her as a fun aunt.

And he does! When he remembers his aunt, he remembers some of the most fun times of his life, and he remembers always being held and feeling safe. Red couldn't be more delighted. He also remembers being in absolute awe of how Red could punch anything, and hoping he'd grow up to be that tall too (he's getting there).

Tello was Casey's third favourite family member after his parents. They let him do Science Things, which varied from explaining how that cool bug hunted prey, to making a ten-foot-tall baking soda volcano. Tello was always ready to set things on fire or blow them up, which immediately endeared them to a rambunctious little kid who also liked setting things on fire and blowing them up.

Also, Tello lost their legs the year before Casey was born. So by the time Casey was old enough to be interested in cool-looking things, Tello's prosthetics had gone through enough refinements to look pretty damn cool. Casey loved asking questions and hearing about all the details, even if he didn't understand most at first.

His interest in tech began with Tello. When Casey was a baby, and it was time for Tello to babysit, they'd explain their current project to him (y'know, rubber duck debugging?) Casey picked up enough to become interested and Tello was delighted to have an apprentice. It wasn't long before they started teaching him officially. Eventually Jr even learned how to keep all the tech Tello gave him in good order!

Tello had one of those bubble backpacks that you see for cat sometimes, except it was reinforced to stand up to anything, and that was how they carried Casey around when he was a baby. After that, there were Iron Man-style rocket boots (until they ran out of fuel) and Casey had his own transpo drone that could pick him up (until it got smashed by a Krang).

They were also the best protector, because they would bite, kick, and claw at anything that came near their little Junebug. Usually this was some kind of Krang - they were not impressed with how it tasted when they bit down on a tentacle once - but occasionally it was blue thing wanting to cuddle The Boy before they were ready to let go of him.

YES there were apocalypse birthdays. Mikey always had stashes of art supplies on hand, so getting a birthday card from Casey was a staple of things when he was a kid. Angelo kept his in a hatch on his prosthetic shell, Tello kept theirs in their battle shell, and Leonardo kept his in his biggest belt pouch. Casey Cards were universally seen as Very Special.

As Casey got older, and was allowed to go on supply runs, he began bringing home birthday presents. Or the supplies to make birthday presents! He made Tello a weighted turtle plushie, for example, that Tello carried with them everywhere just like the cards. And Casey and Cass have matching letter necklaces.

MLPTP Summer Photo Challenge Entries 2024

The MLPTP did a fun photo challenge this summer, so I figured I could join in the fun this year!

Challenge #1 : Day at the beach! Minimum picture elements: “sand”, “sea”, a “shell” and a pony in a bathing suit.

Apple Delight is collecting seashells while Seashell herself surveys the area.

Challenge #2: Christmas in July! Let’s pretend it’s a cold, wintery day and go play in some snow! Minimum picture elements: pony playing in “snow” and a “snowman” or “snow angel”.

Scoops stopped on her way to deliver presents to make a little snowman!

Challenge #3: It’s Christmas in July! Time to make Christmas cards to show your pony friends you’re thinking of them! Minimum picture elements: pony making pony-sized Christmas cards with pony-sized “pens/markers” and “stamps”.

Baby Fun and Games and Baby Fifi were so excited with the idea of sending cards to friends that they carried all their greeting cards, markers and sticker sheets of stamps to the mailbox… only to realize they actually needed to write things inside! Better hurry, baby ponies, before the mail truck comes around!

Challenge #4: It’s Christmas in July! Time to decorate that Christmas tree! Minimum picture elements must include pony decorating a Christmas tree with ornaments.

Baby Fifi and her sister Bow Tie were more than happy to volunteer to decorate with fluffy pompoms!

Challenge #5: It’s Christmas in July! Put on your apron and pull out the mixing bowls, we got cookies to bake! Minimum picture elements must include pony, “cookies” and “sprinkles”.

Confetti loves sprinkles so she bought two cups full of the stuff to decorate not only the Christmas cookies, but all the baked goods!

Challenge #6: We’re Camping Out! Minimum elements include a “tent”, “campfire” and pony making “s'mores”.

Scoops took the baby ponies on a camping trip! But things aren’t going as planned–Baby Apple Delight didn’t bring sunscreen so she defuses to leave the tent, while Baby Fun and Games and Baby Fifi don’t want boring mallows on a stick today so they’ve brought their own treats!

Challenge #7: I scream, you scream, we all scream for Ice Cream Sundaes! Minimum elements must include a pony with “ice cream”, “sprinkles” and a “cherry”.

Confetti and Seashell jumped at the chance to have a nice date at Scoops’ shop. They’re definitively having a feast!

Challenge #8: You haven’t lived til you’ve run around under a sprinkler on a hot summer day! Minimum elements must include a pony in bathing suit playing under “sprinkler”, “water droplets” must be included.

Baby Fifi has been having fun playing at the fountain with the sprinklers, even if she’s getting her mane wet!

Challenge #9: I hope you’re hooked on the photo challenge contest cause we’re Going Fishing! Minimum elements must include a pony in a “boat in water” with a “fishing rod”.

After the tragic loss of the cruise ship Seashell was on tonight, she assembled herself a little boat raft, and is now ready to catch some dinner while she waits for rescue. What’s there to worry about? She’s got a signal fire going as a beacon, some books to read, and help will come any second now. Nothing could go wrong with an open fire next to a stack of books on top of a wooden raft, right?

Challenge #10: What a beautiful day for an Afternoon Picnic! Minimum picture elements must include pony with a picnic “blanket”, “basket”, “food” and “ants”!

“Highly scientific!” Baby Fifi, the resident science fanatic, squeals with delight. “It’s the rare silvery round ants, Monomorium metallicus rotundus, right here in our food! Good thing I never go anywhere without my science kit!” Baby Fun and Games rolls her eyes. She knows this is going to take forever, so she plays some music on her headphones and helps herself to a mushroom to pass the time.

Challenge #11: Summer Friday nights are made for the Drive-In! Minimum picture elements must include pony “in a car” watching a “movie screen” with “popcorn”!

It’s summer break, and Bow Tie thinks the babies need some more… edifying entertainment. So she’s taken them to the drive-through to watch the documentary “March of the Penguins”. Baby Apple Delight is enjoying the movie, but Baby Fifi and Baby Fun and Games are on snack duty, so they loaded themselves up while Bow Tie wasn’t watching!

Challenge #12: Are you a pillow fight champion? Cause we’re having a Slumber Party! Minimum elements must include ponies in “sleeping bags”, with “games” and “popcorn”.

A fun slumber party has turned into a Mexican standoff for the baby ponies, as they’ve settled cozy into their sleeping bags with snacks and games nearby… but now nobody wants to pull a hoof out of the bag to move the pieces! Somebody better make the effort soon, or this is gonna be a long night…

Challenge #13: Warm summer nights are perfect for Catching Fireflies! Minimum elements must include a pony, “fireflies” PLURAL, a “pony sized net to catch them” and a “jar to put them in”!

“Heh, heh, heh”, chuckles Scoops devilishly. “Baby Fifi was right.��� Here they are, the mysterious rainbow fireflies (“Lampyris lucicrescens versicolor!”, Baby Fifi had squeaked), ripe for the picking. “These things will make the perfect toppings for my latest night-time sundae. They’ll never see me camouflaged like this. Straight into my net bag you go, little shinies! Heh, heh, heh!”

LAST Challenge #14: What a wonderful, windy day! Perfect for Flying a Kite! Minimum elements must include a pony flying a “kite”. “Kite” must be in the air, cannot be on the ground or stuck in a tree.

“So you see, kites stay up because the lift generated by the difference in air pressure on the top and bottom surfaces of the kite overcomes the force of gravity!” Baby Apple Delight rolls her eyes. “What are you talking about? Science isn’t real.” Poor Baby Fifi’s mane nearly falls out. “What did you say?” “You heard me!” whinnies Baby Apple Delight. “Science isn’t real! Seraph of the End Manga

I watched the Seraph of the End anime for the first time when I was around 13 and ironically, I nearly didn’t finish it, but I’m really glad I stuck with it because now it’s one of my favourite pieces of media of all time.

Burts bees

I used to not take good care of my body at all and Lip balm is just a representation of the changes and routine I made to try and get better when I was depressed. I use lip balm all the time and it’s a simple self care thing that makes me feel better.

Washi tape

Washi tape is a staple at a lot of stationary shops and I can't handle the temptation and usually leave a stationary shop with something. I just like the aesthetics and patterns of washi tape that inspire some of my brightly coloured art, and sometimes I even digitally draw washi tape to emulate physical craft style.

Miffy wallet

Miffy is a rabbit character from the Netherlands and another character I enjoy collecting items from. This Miffy wallet is also a gift from my sister, as she’s always looking out for me and things I might enjoy, as she knows I’m a bit of a collector. Rabbits or rabbit features show up in my work a lot, almost as a representation of myself.

Tamagotchi

This is a Sanrio edition tamagotchi, which only ever came out in Japanese. My sister and I both had tamagotchis around 2010. I watch videos about the timeline and all about the different versions of tamagotchis that were made. It's a nostalgia thing and reminds me to put a childish 2000s flair into my work.

Stickers

I’m a collector, and my stack of sticker sheets is further proof. I get really nervous about using them. I want to keep all of them nice forever. A lot of the stickers are made by artists and often they’re made as merchandise for a show or cartoon I watch. It's been my dream to sell things like stickers myself.

Water cup

I have a love for water and hydrating, like all normal living things do. I genuinely believe drinking a lot more water and staying hydrated throughout the day has made me a happier, healthier person. Everything also just tastes better when drunk with a straw.

Converse

I wore fake Kmart Converse hundreds of times before finally investing in a pair of real Converse. I got them at my mum's insistence since she was sick of me getting blisters with the ill-fitting dupe. Shoes are extremely important to see the world in and to take inspiration from the world around me for my creative practice.

Pokémon cards

I have spent a crazy amount of money on my Pokémon card collection. But for me, it isn’t about pulling the crazy rare and expensive cards, it’s all about collecting the pretty cards or cards I find visually appealing. I collect these to appease my childhood self who wasn't allowed to buy Pokémon cards.

Ticket stubs

Here are some of the ticket stubs or receipts I’ve collected from going to shows. I keep these to preserve the memory of going out with friends or family to watch something. I really enjoy taking in the art and beauty of animated movie as inspiration for my own bright and bold creative style.

Keroppi figure

Keroppi is a frog from Sanrio, and I got this specific figure from a blind box, which means you’re not sure which design or character you’re going to get when you buy the box. I thought it was really cute that I got the one that is shown to be drawing just like a representation of me.

Sonny Angel

At first, I used to think Sonny Angels were creepy but the more I learned about them, the more I was swayed. Of course, they are also just a piece of expensive plastic that we buy and collect, but sometimes it’s about the simple pleasures in life.

Wacom

I got my first Wacom tablet when I was around 12 after borrowing my sister's far too much. I’m actually a horrible physical artist compared to my digital skills which you would think would crossover. This was the first step in taking me down the path of graphic design and helped me realise what I wanted to do for work later in life.

Testosterone

This is my medical prescription for testosterone. I go in every 3 weeks for an injection of this stuff. It took a lot of time to get to this point in my life, but I can confidently say it has made me a happier, more confident person to finally feel like I’m comfortable in my own skin. Cis or not. It’s important for us as people to express ourselves authentically.

Fuggler Box

This box once housed a fuggler, a funny, ugly creature. These toys are meant to be, well, ugly to an extent. They have interestingly shaped bodies, small beady eyeballs, and visible, semi-realistic-looking teeth! Despite the intent of them being made ugly, I find them quite endearing. I like this idea of finding the beautiful behind the ugly.

Grape Fanta

My love for artificial grape flavouring knows no bounds. I don’t even like real grapes! Fizzy drinks, soda, pop, whatever you want to call it, is one of my favourite things to drink as a treat. When I’m feeling down or I’m losing motivation, I treat myself to full strength, full sugar, definitely bad for me, soda.

He/Him Badge

I got this badge just before starting my transition. It was really hard to know inside that I was a man, but people around me didn’t know, which makes sense because I definitely don’t look like a typical man. To be honest, I don’t wear it very much anyway, as I became more confident in myself, and as long as I and the people close to me understood my identity, that’s what mattered most.

Splatoon Amiibo

Splatoon is a video game where you play as a 'squid kid’ (a kid who can also turn into a squid) and hang out in Inkopolis Square, shop for colourful streetwear fashion with unique abilities, and play games of turf war where yo try to paint the majority of the map in your team colour.

Dsi

The DSi was my first ever gaming console. I got it for Christmas one year from my nana when I was 7. This began my love for Nintendo and video games. I played a lot with my sister and they are fond memories. Video games go hand in hand with graphic design as they communicate a story visually and through a creative style.

Tote bag

I started buying tote bags for university thinking they would be cool and convenient. In actuality, they were inconvenient. I still have a considerable collection of them because I think they add to an outfit and you’ll typically see a tote bag as a creatives bag of choice, so I guess I’m just doing my duty as a designer.
