general ed headcanons

A/N: i thought it'd be nice to just share some ed headcanons that i think about quite often for some odd reason

TW: hmm nothing really ! maybe some typos cus i didn’t proof read anything , yolooo

starting this off with a banger; ed can’t drive.

but it’s not his fault! when he thinks about it, he’s never had a reason to drive. being raised by balrog would mean that he also benefited from the boxer’s wealth.

and of course, balrog would always have both him and ed in fancy cars or limos getting transported wherever they wanted.

even though he’s older and more dependant on himself, ed settles on using public transportation to make his way around town.

he’d never admit to anybody how often he used to get lost on the subway when first getting used to travelling on his own though…

this might be expected, but ed also has pretty bad eating habits. if he’s not accidentally starving himself (busy with travelling, working, lack of appetite, etc), he’s treating himself to a bunch of sweets and snacks.

it’s canon/confirmed that ed hates vegetables and loves sweets, so expect him to just be snacking on things like chocolate mint ice cream, licorice (both are his confirmed favourites !), candies, pastries etc.

since ed was in balrog’s care growing up, i doubt that he knew much of his own german heritage. it’s believable that he was quite out of touch with german culture until meeting falke.

since meeting his older sister figure, he’s learned to speak/understand quite a bit of german and enjoy german food ! (which isn’t really much a headcanon considering this is confirmed and very much canon)

falke definitely made him use duolingo to help teach him german, and ed can confirm that he despises the look of the duolingo bird. something about the way it looks… it rubs him the wrong way.

ed isn’t very into social media, but he has an account created on most platforms. he’s a huge lurker online too.

his accounts are somewhat anonymous and he’ll never have pictures of himself posted anywhere.

all his accounts are private with 6-10 followers who are just his neo shadaloo friends, balrog and probably you/world tour avatar.

on some occasions he’ll post pictures of snacks or meals that he’s eating, but even then it’s still not much.

however, he does follow a handful of accounts that post things he’s into. and due to that he’s adjusted his algorithm on all apps to show content related to boxing, pool/billiards, baking and pastry videos etc !

ed is a hot head and he can’t stop himself from arguing in comment sections—he always has to speak his mind.

even if he’s not arguing with people, he’ll sometimes leave small comments under certain things he’s fond of.

there’s a video of a candy shop tour? he’ll watch the whole thing in awe and comment something simple like “i gotta visit here some day”.

ed most likely has a small 1 bedroom apartment in metro city. it’s not the cleanest home, but at least he finds it comfortable.

he has charts scattered with pins, messy handwriting, photographs and more that helps him keep track of the shadaloo bases that he and his team find while saving other test subjects.

he’s only really home when it’s time to sleep.

in public spaces, ed prefers to keep to himself unless somebody is actively trying to get his attention.

since ed is always on the subway, he makes sure to be ready with lots of games to play on his phone. it’s no shocker that he’s a fan of pool games! it’ll keep him occupied no matter how long his train rides are.

adding a small bonus since it’s father’s day while i’m writing this…

ed totally celebrates with balrog every year on this occasion. knowing both of them, they probably think it’s too sappy to consider it as them celebrating father’s day.

but deep down they’re both aware of it and they’re grateful for each other ! truly the best father-son duo !

So, how you work alongside Wick depends on your gender due to the times. For a lady, you're an additional secretary who specializes in finance or social engagements. For a lad, you're a consultant in his company for anything from finance to local geology. He took a liking to you right away, both for your personality and looks (though the latter he keeps to himself). If you'd rather not be a subordinate, you can still be a third party consultant or planner of some kind.

You start to realize how much he overworks himself, and perhaps you're just as bad! Before long you're keeping long hours with him in the office, or having to stop by his manor to catch up with some big project. On one hand, he hates keeping you so much, on the other, well. It is nice to have you around so often, and you really help him out when he's frazzled.

It flusters him more and more when you lean over his desk to point something out, or bend over across the room to pick something up. He feels pretty awful about that last one; once Lacy caught him and snapped her fingers loudly in front of him to get his attention.

Because you two work so much together, you get plenty of opportunities to talk - especially when he wants to avoid certain paperwork. He loves listening to you rant about this client, just as he loves going off on his own tangent about that investor. You both start to give nicknames to the difficult ones. Then he listens to you talk about your plans when you're off work, what your family is like, your interests. He could just listen to you talk all day ... many times Lacy has come in to drop off paperwork and you two are still talking, and her boss looks totally starry-eyed.

(I mean he often looks at you like you hang the moon, sooo...)

Wick really wants to invite you out, like. Badly. He hates being cooped up with work, he prefers socializing face to face out in the world. But ... is that appropriate? If you're femme and work for him, this especially bothers him. He ought to make it clear it's strictly platonic, but, uh. It isn't. If you're masc, it's easier to invite you to a simple outing, but ... there's the whole definiately-not-platonic feelings --

(Yeah, a cute guy brings up a loooot of feelings Wick's repressed since boarding school. Oops.)

He settles for lunches because those seem the most innocuous. You start to wonder what his thing about afternoon sandwiches and coffee is all about, considering he keeps forgetting to eat while working (and don't worry, you always bring something back for Lacy!)

When he dozes off at his desk, you like to put a coat or blanket over him ... or just gently nudge him awake and tell him to go home. Wick really prefers to drop you off if it's late, not wanting you to walk or take public transportation at such a late hour also he can show off his car a bit.

When he passes out on the desk, you'll put a blanket or his coat over him. A few times he's been half awake, and it both startles and embarrasses him. If he could, he'd blush to his ears. Wick would really prefer you didn't see that "sloppy" side of him, but come on. It's unavoidable, and he's probably done the same when you've fallen asleep in your own office chair (except he likes putting his own coat over you).

At least once or twice a month, you have to accompany him to work events and gatherings. It's important to schmooze and make connections and all that; if it's not your kind of scene, at least you get a reason to dress up and eat absurdly expensive food. You better believe Wick is looking r e s p e c t f u l l y, even if it's the dozenth event you've attended together. He likes picking you up at your place, as if this is a date and not a charity auction.

... Though, you're often mistaken for his date if you're femme. And if you're masc, sometimes he has to borrow cufflinks or gloves ... yes, he's a little more than giddy to wear your things.

Normally he's a social butterfly, but Wick finds himself frustrated when he's mid conversation with you and he has to stop to visit with some group of investors or fellow businessmen. You excuse yourself, but his eyes still follow you across the room.

While he often compliments you when it comes to him, sometimes Wick worries about it being too much. What if you take it the wrong way? How much is appropriate? While in this era a boss could get away with chasing after his subordinate all he wants, Wick shudders at the idea of you thinking of him that way. And if you're a man, he certainly worries you might think ... well, sometimes he's sure you reciprocate, but he can't just ask, so ...

It's all a jumble that falters the normally relaxed man's confidence. He tells himself he'd be content if you just wanted to be friends. He certainly wants to be friends, at least - he wants you to like him, not merely tolerate him because you're a subordinate or colleague.

On that note, you get lovely presents and generous bonuses at the appropriate times of the year. The birthday and Christmas presents are especially thoughtful and expensive - but of course, Wick doesn't think of the cost. He's totally comfortable presenting Lacy with her gift, but suddenly gets nervous about your's. Yes, he's that obvious ... You'll get flowers or expensive whiskey after closing deals, or maybe just because. Trying to convince him gifts are unnecessary is a losing battle, because as far as Wick's concerned, it's one of the safer ways to show his affection. Though, if it's the cost you're worried about, he'll bug Lacy about what's a good ""normal"" gift (because no, Wick, a $30 floral arrangement 'just because' is not normal! Nor is a $50 lunch!)

If you're femme, Lacy is losing her patience and just tells him to ask you out already. She'll bring it up with you, too - hell, she'll lock you both in a room together because all this doe-eyed mooning and pining is driving her logical brain nuts.

If you're masc, it's a little more tricky. Lacy starts to pick up on the odd vibe between you two, and how Wick seems almost ... mopey when you're away or getting friendly with some other man. She has suspicions, but she can't ask directly. So she makes sure to rearrange appointments so you two have more time together, to make sure you're seated together during dinners and events, and calls you for help, only to suddenly remember something and leave you two alone.

Generally Wick is frequently worrying about his feelings being reciprocated, though with a lady he'd be more open about it and trying to gauge if you're comfortable. Again, he'd really want to remain friends because he admires your expertise, interests and personality ☆

Hey pillo what are you characters favourite car & brand

This implies I know anything about cars and car brands, which I unfortunately do not. Sorry :/

I guess all my characters are very pragmatic about cars? I honestly can’t see any of them really caring about what model they drive. Some of my characters (Bethany, Jacob, Lilith) don’t even know how to drive in the first place! I’m just gonna hijack this ask and talk about my characters’ relationship with cars.

Isaac: knows how to drive but doesn’t really care about cars. Just wants a reliable van to go from point A to point B and big enough to contain all his art supplies. Since he doesn’t drink he’s usually the designated driver whenever his friends invite him to a party.

Judas: Knows how to drive and is usually the designated driver. Has a beaten up Toyota or something. Second hand, keeps it well enough that it can work, and it’s not a dumpster, but not much else. His interests lie elsewhere

Magdalene: has a driver’s license but absolutely no interest in cars. I don’t really know if she has a car or not, but if she did she’d turn that thing into a mess in a matter of days. Not because she likes the mess, she jut forgets to throw out the trash and then it accumulates.

Azazel: knows how to drive and HATES it. Thinks all cars are death traps on wheels and if he could he’d just fly everywhere. He will drive if asked to, but will be stressed all the time and don’t ask him to merge into the highway because he’ll have a panic attack. Content with being a passenger princess.

Apollyon: knows how to drive, but doesn’t have a license. He’s absolutely neutral about driving, and since he doesn’t need to eat, sleep or take bathroom breaks he’s the best suited to drive long distances. Likes driving at night.

Cain: has a driver’s license, can also drive trucks and buses but doesn’t really do that anymore. Has a horrible habit of drinking and driving but hasn’t been in a serious accident yet. Has at least one DUI, and at the time of the story his license has probably been revoked but he still drives anyway lol. Owns a trailer.

Samson: can drive and has a license but his mother insists about driving him everywhere. She was even the one who taught him how to drive, which stressed him out *a lot* since she wasn’t the most patient teacher. He’ll eventually get over his fear of driving once he gets a job.

Eve: Has a license but prefers public transport (when available)

Eden: technically knows how to drive (because they’re a cherub, and cherubim are all-knowing) but doesn’t really need to, so they never bothered to try.

Lazarus: has a license but is also very prone to accidents and has already totalled two cars. Luckily he has insurance. He also knows how to start a car using only the cables, but never had the chance to show it off.

Jacob: doesn’t drive. Suffers from chronic pain in his hip and while he could technically learn how to drive, he’s afraid of his pain flaring up while he’s behind the wheel, so he’s super cautious about it. Esau usually drives him everywhere he needs so he doesn’t really need a car.

Bethany: doesn’t know how to drive, and doesn’t really have time to study to get a license. She’s usually swamped with university work and doesn’t want to add more stress to her situation.

Lilith: blind :( no car. Cain used to drive her where she needed but stopped once she found out he got a DUI. Now she uses public transport or Uber.

Esau: actually now that I think about it, Esau would know a pretty good deal about cars! He’s a mechanic and probably the only one who would know how to properly care for one. I’d like to imagine he has an old second-hand car he purchased with his money when he was 18, and he keeps in pristine condition. He’s currently saving to get his own place away from Jacob, but he wouldn’t mind splurging on a decent car once he got enough money. Since I don’t know much about cars, I’m just gonna say he wants a Toyota CHR because that’s what my partner likes.

Doesn’t like planes (feel like it obvious why)

He has a lot of scars, pretty much all on his chest and arms though he does have a good few on his legs

Met Delaware when he visited Netherlands home for the first time, he continued to visit every weekend until Netherland had to leave

Actually likes Netherland, way better than England that’s for sure

He found out that there was a another New state when he found New Mexico going through his kitchen, he still doesn’t have a single idea how NM had gotten there and neither does NM

He has some problems with his own humanity because while yes he is a state personification, he also had parents and has grandparents, something that pretty much every state except for a few have,  swimming in the Hudson didn’t help at all seeing as now he’s all sorts of something

While he and Jersey seem attached at the hip, they actually don’t spend nearly as much time together as the other states thing, yeah they are slightly attached at the hip but they will go weeks without a single hello at times

Hates change, he went through so much of it as a child that he can’t stand it now

The thing about my ocs that I realized recently is that literally all of them have experienced traumatic events on a boat or ship of some kind. But that's probably fine

Dmitri: Prefers to walk, if it's a long distance/he's in a hurry he'll do it in his maned wolf form for extra speed and agility. He's a city boy, and has never really left the city or done any substantial travel. His job involved lots of boats, but they were all safely moored. Now that he's actually going on an involuntary boat journey... can't say he's a fan lmao. I think he hates travelling in general, even if it wasn't forced by circumstance. Would probably go nuts for high speed rail if it existed in his world.

Nico: Has always enjoyed boats as a concept and threw herself into learning to sail as a way to distract herself in the first year or so after being turned, since her sire was the captain of a merchant ship. Over land, she can ride a horse just fine but given a choice she'd rather ride in a carriage/wagon. LOVES trains but there are very few of them in her world :(

Mulligan: Only enjoys spaceship travel and only if he's driving. Otherwise he's the most obnoxious backseat driver imaginable. He tries to do as little travelling planetside as possible, but when he does he prefers public transit (especially trains). Cars stress him out. Walking through open places stresses him out - he's a bit agoraphobic. Being on a planet with no immediate way off stresses him out.

so, nightfolk can't really travel the same ways humans do. electronics and nightfolk simply don't mix (unless the nightfolk in question is a lightning-user like kaede, or possesses a magical affinity that ), and this includes electric vehicles of any kind be they cars with powersteering components or bullet trains. it interferes with their magic, not in casting but in effect - electricity is a dampener for nearly all forms of magic (it's why the only thing vayn can work is a microwave, and even that's hit or miss at best). but below, i'll list what each of their favorites and least favorites are, in this circumstance.

asuka; their own two feet, public transport, carriage, car, horse, motorcycle, broomflight for the aesthetic, mirror travel - any magical mode of travel would be their favorite; they want so badly to be able to perform magic... i don't think they dislike any form of travel except boat travel.

crovita; flight, and teleportation; she's a simple lady and likes to get places quickly, since she's always working. she does not like mirror travel, despite having a few of her own both on her person and at home - it makes her queezy.

furie; he also prefers flight, actually exclusively except in short distances. he hates mirror travel, he always throws up after (which is fairly common for naturally flight-capable nightfolk).

hydre; like vita, he prefers teleportation and flight, but this is generally for vast distances; if he can, he'll walk, maybe occasionally fiddle with mirrors or boats, but he likes to swim too, so he might if he comes across a river or whathaveyou in his travels.

kaede; mirror travel and his own two feet; simple guy, just wants to get from point a to point b in as little time as possible so he can fuck off and do whatever he wants with the rest of his time, or walk, to piss off as many people at once (the rebel in him is still there, after all).

loux; his favorite ways to travel are really all of them; travel is travel and everything feels a little bit like a road trip to him. carriage rides? now he gets to act all hoity-toity like some rich asshole; broomflight? now he gets to cackle like a witch. etc. mirror travel's the fastest and easiest, so he tends to use that primarily.

sortia; mirror travel and teleportation; the mirror is great when she's in a pinch since it's immediate, but teleportation is a greater show of power and we all know how she likes to flex on her 'lessers'.

vayn; mirror travel, walking, or flight as a bat; simple guy, tries not to be too flashy lest he attract unnecessary attention to himself.

viresca; broomflight and walking, plain and simple. no special reason, but perhaps for the simplicity of either; mirror travel makes her nauseous, other modes she doesn't mind but would rather not.

A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins – SPOILER REVIEW

For my first official review, here is the fourth Hunger Games novel which I finished last week. A spoiler-free version of this review has already been posted on my blog if you prefer to read that.

My score chart: 0-5 stars

0 stars = Hate it/ Regret reading

1 star = Meh, not for me

2 stars = It was ok/ neutral

3 stars = Liked it

4 stars = Loved it

5 stars = One of my favorite books of all time!

Overall rating: 3 to 3.5 stars. I liked it, but it is my least favorite book of the series of four. I do recommend reading it though if you are a big fan of the Hunger Games trilogy, but if you are a casual fan then you can skip it. I would love for Collins to write two more books, one about the actual war while it was happening (at least 10 years before this story) as well as one that takes place between the end of Songbirds and Snakes and The Hunger Games. There is a whole six decades between these stories, so she has a lot of content to work with if she wants to.

Detailed Review:

Plot = 3 stars

Part 1: The Mentor

Collins choosing to narrate the story from Coriolanus’s perspective was very refreshing to me. When reading the original series, I didn’t spend too much time considering what life would be like for Capitol innocents, such as children, who were affected by the war. The story he mentioned about being a child and seeing a neighborhood woman dying in the street and being eaten by a cannibal was such a wakeup call for me about what the Capitol experienced in the aftermath. I didn’t realize how much they were also starving since all of their food is grown in the Districts. 

Having the story take place during the 10th Hunger Games was very exciting since I was very curious to see how they have developed over the years, especially since they would have been harder to enforce directly after the war. Lucy Gray’s Reaping moment was iconic; I can’t believe that she was daring enough to put a snake down the mayor’s daughter’s outfit! I can’t wait for it to play out on the movie screen. 

Later, when Coriolanus sees how the tributes are bound and put into carnival train cars to be transported reminded me at how much the Capitol sees the tributes as animals. While Katniss and Peeta were still mistreated, at least they had a bullet train with gourmet food, luxury furniture, and air conditioning. On that note, keeping the 10th Games tributes in the zoo really hit the nail on the head for the lack of humanity. I was shocked when so many of the tributes died from starvation and exposure before the Games even started. I wasn’t sure if they would call for another Reaping to replace the tributes lost and that was making me anxious.

Another shock was when Arachne was killed by her District 10 tribute. How can I say this...? I was surprised, but not surprised. I wasn’t surprised at Arachne’s cruelty toward her tribute by taunting food in her face in front of the crowd and media, but I was surprised at how quickly the tribute was able to murder her, especially when surrounded by Peacekeepers. This (in a morbid way) is where the book drew me in. Another interesting touch was when the bombs went off in the arena before the Games during the Mentor and Tribute tour. This moment showed the Captiol that the District members meant business and actually helped the tributes by giving the arena more hiding spaces.

I feel wishy-washy about Coriolanus helping Lucy Gray cheat by giving her the idea to poison the other tributes with the makeup compact full of rat poison. Cheating can get her whole District in trouble and have had way worse repercussions than what he actually got as punishment in part 3. I really thought that they might kill Lucy Gray in public, even as a victor, to show the Districts that winning doesn’t mean anything. Perhaps this wouldn’t have worked and caused another revolt and maybe that’s why they just “punished” Coriolanus by not letting him go to University.

Part 2: The Prize

The relationship between Coriolanus and Sejanus was like a rollercoaster. I understood how Coriolanus felt about being afraid to put his family and future in danger, but at the same time, I think Sejanus was right about society as a whole. To be honest, I am definitely more like Coriolanus and would have put myself first, which sounds horrific, but... sorry not sorry. I think I would have been too much of a coward to be like Sejanus and would not have tried to martyr myself for Marcus or my former district. On that same track, Marcus’s death was brutal! Beheading is just a whole other level, but I do think that when the female tribute was whispering to him that she was asking for his permission to put him out of his misery and put herself ahead in the media’s eyes. I don’t think there was any malice in it. 

I was soooo worried for Sejanus when he stormed out after Marcus’s death and even more afraid when he trespassed into the arena to bless his body. I despise the fact that Coriolanus only went in to save his own skin, not because he really cared about Sejanus, which is especially sad since Sejanus sees him as a brother. Coriolanus defending himself against Bobbin was a great nerve-wracking scene because even though I knew Coriolanus was going to survive, Sejanus might not, and Coriolanus could still be greatly wounded. If he had been permanently wounded, I don’t think that he would ever reveal it to others. I think that he would imagine that others would see these wounds as weaknesses (proving that he is not invincible) rather than strengths (that he was brave and survived a tragedy). 

The fact that Lucy Gray won the Games was very predictable to me because she is a character foil and foreshadow toward Snow’s resentment (and respect) toward Katniss. However, I like that Lucy didn’t use physical combat to take out her competition, but rather used poison and mercy. The whole rabies aspect was spooky. It’s sad to think about how the Districts are not given adequate health care such as vaccines. I really hate her relationship with Coriolanus because he does not see her as an equal, but as property to be controlled and admired. She is just a trophy. A pretty songbird that he can put in a cage. 

Oh, and side note, I truly dislike how fricken direct the symbolism of Coriolanus is a snake and Lucy Gray is a bird. I mean, even her last name is Baird, which of course sounds like “bird” and literally means “someone who sings songs or poetry.” And Coriolanus Snow is cold-hearted. Cold, like snow. Ha. Soooo funnyyyy. I had never heard the name “Coriolanus” before, but it is originally made famous by the Shakespeare play. I haven’t read it, but this link here basically tells the same story as Songbirds and Snakes. So, I guess this prequel is really a Hunger Games fanfiction about Shakespeare’s story? It was a little disappointing to find out. I thought it was an original concept. Boo. 

Part 3: The Peacekeeper

I was very confused at first about why Dr. Gaul and Dean Highbottom would send Coriolanus to District 12 after winning the Hunger Games because it means he would reunite with Lucy Gray. I found this part to be a bit slow (which of course was to make us feel how bored Coriolanus was since there were no mental challenges in the Peacekeepr training other than executions.) I rushed through the blandness so I could get to the climax faster.

Yet, a few parts of this section that I liked are reading more about The Hob and the origin of “Katniss’s songs” from Mockingjay, which were created by Lucy Gray. The Hanging Tree scenes were terrifying. I wanted Coriolanus to act out and become a rebel, but I knew his sense of loyalty to the Capitol and self-preservation would get in the way. I liked how we learned how and why people become Peacekeepers since it seems like a terrible job to me, but apparently it has perks for a lot of people. I didn’t ever think about how the Rebels organize revolts with bombs or guns in their own districts. It makes me wonder if when Katniss’s dad died in the original story if that was a revolt gone wrong, just like how one of the mines was destroyed in this book. I always wondered why Suzanne Collins uses the mockingjay as the main symbol of the series because I feel like the reason was a bit vague in the trilogy, but I feel like I did get these answers in Songbirds and Snakes. Sejanus’s death was so sad. I had to read it quickly to get it over with so I would not get too emotional. His final word, “ma,” was absolutely haunting.

Lucy Gray’s end was a bit annoying. I knew deep down that Coriolanus would never run away with her or marry her, but I wasn’t sure if he was going to end up killing her or letting her go. Even worse, we don’t actually get to know. I would have liked a more definite answer on whether or not she escaped or was killed on their way north, but I get that Collins left it ambiguous like the song Lucy Gray was named after.

Heading back to the Capitol, the fact that the Snow family is responsible for most of the concepts used in the Hunger Games is both awful and amazing. I did like reading about how Coriolanus “innovated” the 10th Games to be more high-tech and interactive with the drone gifts, the betting, and the tributes and District winning a prize, but it makes me shudder to know that this infamy is what kept him in power all those decades. I wonder how old he was when he got elected president.

Overall Main Characters Rating = 3.5 stars

Coriolanus: 3 stars

Coriolanus describing the lack of nutrition, the hand-me-down clothes, the inability to afford his familial home, the desire to go to university without any savings, and being an orphan made me feel a lot of sympathy toward him. It now makes more sense into why he evolved into the villainous President Snow. I would have loved for him to have taken this trauma and turn it into something good, but he chose selfishness over selflessness. I feel like his “snap” against Sejanus was a bit rushed, like Daenerys Targaryen, so I would have like a little more to happen before his change. He always valued his own life over Sejanus and others who lived in the districts, but his decision to turn against him just felt a bit hasty. 

Lucy Gray: 4 stars

Despite the fact that Lucy Gray and her successor, Katniss Everdeen, are both thin brunettes with lovely voices from District 12, I find Lucy Gray much more likable. She has so much spunk and passion for life and art that I think she would be a fun person to be around in person. She is definitely a glass half-full kind of girl and sees the beauty in the frightening. I find her Covey background interesting and want to know so much more about those who live “outside” of the Districts and Capitol since I had no idea people exist outside of there (which is exactly what the Capitol wants you to think). However, I am grateful that this story was not from her persepective because it would have been to similar to the original.

Sejanus: 4.5 stars

He was my absolute favorite! I think he was the best because he was the only person we met that could really bridge the gap between District and Capitol lives. His conflicting relationships with Marcus, Coriolanus, and his family broke my heart. Even though the book is narrated from Coriolanus’s perspective, I would have liked if this was written like Marie Lu’s Legend series where it goes back and forth between characters that have different opinions about the war. He would get 5 stars if we got chapters from his perspective. He is the exact opposite of Coriolanus since he is impulsive, outspoken, and ashamed of his family, while Coriolanus is calculated, reserved, and proud of his heritage to a fault. I like seeing the two of them together because they are so different. 

Dr. Gaul = 3.5 stars

I really enjoyed Dr. Gaul, but I can’t give her more than 3.5 stars because I yearned to see more of her lab experiments, and I feel like the readers didn’t get to see much more than the snakes. Her manipulation throughout the plot gets snaps from me, especially sending Coriolanus to District 12 for him to spy for her when he didn’t even realize he was a spy. Brilliant!

Tigris = 3 stars

I like how sweet she is, but other than taking care of Coriolanus and Grandma’am, she doesn’t do much. I need to know how and why she became the woman she is in Mockingjay. Considering I didn’t even mention her at all in my “plot” section, I think she definitely needed to be more fleshed out.

Would I read it again? Yes. Especially after the film comes out since I enjoy comparing books to movies. I’m afraid of what they will cut out because they are only doing one film and there is a lot of content here. I have a feeling they won’t show Marcus’s beheading due to its gruesome nature or the District 12 hangings. They might just mention it or cut away when the actual violence happens which is understandable for a PG-13 film, but disappointing in showing the true fear of the moment. I think that’s part of why these books are so scary though. Violence can happen to people at any age, and it has throughout history. Keeping it from people doesn’t protect them from it, but showing too much numbs people to it. It’s a hard balance. I hope that the film shows the whole story justice.

I'd share the car with Morrigan, because I think she'd have the most use of a car, especially with a bab in tow. I'd probably just take public transport everywhere and let her have it, to be honest. I'm not really sure if Morrigan would actually prefer a car over PT, though. Cars are great for if you hate being around other people, but in the event of a crash, a bus invariably has better odds for survival. I don't know if practicality would win out over comfort for her. Good to have options, but.

I would be perfectly happy to share a bank account with Zevran. Between him and Leliana, I think he's less likely to spend money, and I do love that in a co-account holder. If he wants something, he'll probably steal it, god bless him, which means more money for important things. And look, if they catch him, what are they going to do? Send him to Australia? I mean ok mate, I'll see you there. *shrugs in Australian*

Which leaves sharing a cake with Leliana, and I think that'd be a joy. I can't decide whether she'd lean more heavily into appearance over flavour. Which of these was more in fashion in Orlais at the time she left? Personally, I'm team flavour and don't care for fondant or the fact that cakes are already partly stale when they're going into tiers. Give me a fresh, ugly-as-a-sackful-of-arseholes cake that tastes sinfully good over a pretty, tasteless affair. But the way I see it, whichever way Leliana goes, it's a winner. If she prioritises flavour over appearance, we'll both hoover up that confection like it's our last meal on this mortal plane. And if it's the other way, then she gets her half of the cake and my half. Win-win!

I understand your position on ai art, I have a different position just cuz after learning about ai in grad school (i took courses on computer vision, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, etc) i am against almost all forms of ai art and chat gpt because the way that the data was gathered is super unethical (in my opinion). I have other reasons why I'm against chat gpt and ai art, but that is the main reason. They scrape the internet and take all the images they can find, or just ask of the text. It's one thing when it's the Wikipedia corpus (a dataset widely used for research) and a completely different thing to me when they scrape ao3 and wattpad and ebooks and transcripts. Chat gpt is just plagiarism, but fancy. They are paid services that charge for their use of stolen data. Its a mind boggling amount of data needed to train ai. To create good results on that scale, you need more data than the widely available research data, you have to steal. And they just stole it from wherever. I am against ai art & chat gpt bc i don't think that those companies have a right to charge for their software when the software only works bc they stole so much data.

That's a valid stance to have, I don't really have a strong opinion on it. I get why ppl don't like the way the data was gathered but I also get that it would've been very difficult for researchers to get access to big enough volumes of data to train algorithms on in a way that would involve getting consent from everyone involved and also compensating them.

Like every technology, it has a lot of potential to be used unethically. Like cars. I fucking hate cars. I hate big oil. I hate the auto industry. I'd do anything to avoid ever owning a car and I'd prefer it if personal cars weren't a thing, they kill absurd amounts of ppl, make the world unsafe, kill the planet and are one of the main caused of child death. But I also realize that there's no going back. Cars are here & they're useful to a lot of ppl. Occasionally, I'll sit my ass down in one and even enjoy it. I won't pretend that I think they're good, but I also won't go around telling ppl they're horrible for owning or driving a car when they could be taking public transport.

It's way more useful to educate & push for a more ethics in an industry than just demonize it imo. Devs are at this point very aware of the ethical responsibility they have with AI & I have hope that it can go in a more positive direction if they're held accountable by the public & other ppl from the field.

21. Are there any public events your oc would love to go to? Concerts, plays, movies, parties, etc? What about ones that they would hate? Why?

Anywhere there's booze, Ysrael will NOT turn down. I very much thought of a scenario of him being at a stuffy party hoarding th champagne flutes to get drunk. If not restrained, he will very much crash and thrash the place. He will also really dig going into something like mosh pits or circle pits. Stuffs like theatre you will NOT see him in unless his mission calls for him to kill someone there. That is if he's not bored out of his mind.

23. How difficult is it for your oc to get to sleep? Do they fall asleep the moment they hit the pillow, or do they have insomnia? Any reason why?

He sleeps pretty easy. He'll sleep even easier if he's goming back from a night of drinking or bringing someone to spend the night with. He's not much of a tosser and turner, ofc there is also a heat pad under his mattress that he can switch on.

25 . How does your oc handle being sick? Do they pretend not to be? Do they complain a lot? How susceptible to getting sick are they?

He has a difficult time with accepting he has anything like the flu or a cold. He'd often to try and persevere through that, especially on an important job. He'd sooner make more of a fuss over a stubbed toe or a splinter than being congested. (then again, what would a flu look like on a dragon? hmmm)

27. What’s your oc’s preferred mode of transportation? Walking, vehicle, (or in a sci-fi/magic setting) teleportation?

Teleportation, especially through the hell/earth realm where he can go as he pleases. That being said, he is also partial to a noisy car that he can very much rev up.

29. How empathetic is your oc? Or are they closer to being a sociopath? Any reason why?

I'm more torn between saying outright that he's sociopathic, but he is mainly just being selfish, if that made any sense? Everything he does, he does for his own excess and for his own pleasure, he isn't too fussed with how others would perceive him in that regard.

31. What is your oc’s sense of humour like? What do they find funny? Do they try to be funny? Are they actually?

He is quite quick-whitted and often in such a sarcastic sense. He isn't by any means shy of making a very dark quip about someone's lost one.

NAAAAH, that doesn't phase him at all. He's certain about how hot-to-trot he is, and that's what a lot of people that are interested in him love him for!

35. Is your oc a workaholic, or do they find it hard to be busy at all? Do they find it easy to relax, or must they have something to do at all times? Why?

Being a freelance hitman - coming to clients when they request him - he does keep busy, but he also does relax easily. I suppose that does come with being good on a job that he likes!

37. How picky is your oc? Will they not accept something because of the smallest details being off, or do they not care in the slightest? Why?

Oh, I reckon Ysrael is not that picky with trying to be as exact. But also wouldn't do just the bare minimum. He's gonna get his own sick enjoyment of murking someone in some way while satisfying the client's request, so more of a win-win kinda deal.

39. Is it difficult for your oc to focus, or do they have no trouble being in the moment? Do they daydream or zone out?

He can be focused if it's something he really interested. To reiterate the point in #21, he can get bored if he's disinterested with the setting he's in.

Fuck it, LU headcanons for Sky and Wild exclusively derived from Mario Kart 

 They have the same face, aside from Sky’s slightly more kissable lips and Wild’s scars, their facial features are eerily similar. 

They are also the exact same height of short as fuck but somehow exactly average for a Link. (this is also canon in LU, I just wanted to point it out, you know that old height chart that jojo made...)

They are the only ones legally allowed to drive in a modern AU, Time and Twilight literally just ride horses everywhere or have one of the mario kart bros drive them. Warriors always has either Impa or Athena drive him and Tetra got her learners permit before Wind did so she drives him around. Legend takes public transportation which is why he’s so angry all the time. 

Wild and Sky are complete adrenalin junkies, they may be legally allowed to drive but they both prefer motorcycles and they love going fast. Neither of them have just been caught for speeding yet. 

If they happen to be driving next to each other, they will race, that is a fact. It doesn’t matter who wins though. 

 They both eat mushrooms when they’re angry 

If they can do something with a dramatic flourish, they will, these bitches pull out a sword while they are in a moving car purely because it looks cool and they do similar things while fighting, whether that be twirling their swords while in the middle of a battle, or spinning themselves around even if it will make them dizzy, if it looks cool and there’s an opportunity, they will do it. 

they’re both incredibly competitive and will actually cry a little if they lose at something they’re really passionate about. This is also derived from my feelings about the horseback archery mini game in botw, I have cried after almost getting enough targets but having to go get more bows and arrows just to try again just for some ugly horse armor. And you can’t tell me that Sky wouldn’t have cried from anger if Groose won the loftwing race and was alone with Sun. He just seems like the type. 

They both can canonically feel happiness sometimes

They have a complex relationship with turtles, it’s difficult to tell if they hate them or love them. Also every time they see a turtle they have the impulse to chuck it at the other.
