In The Way I Need You | Part 6
Series Masterlist
➪in which clay messes things up after he regretfully lies to his mother about his intentions with you, and you decide to start looking for another job.
PSA: strongly suggested to read the warnings before proceeding.

In the twenty seven years he’s known his mother, Clay had never seen her this angry.
Well, except for the time Sam walked out, but this was a close second behind that.
Lilith Beresford, in all her glory, stood in front of the couch, home a mere day and a half earlier than she said she’d be. She towered over the two of you, and Clay quickly discovered that you hadn’t woken up yet when he glanced down and saw you still peacefully sleeping against his side.
Clay couldn’t even have a second to take in how cute you looked all cuddled up with him before he was sitting up a bit. “Mother,” he greeted in a surprised tone, making her raise her brow. “You’re home early.”
“I am,” she said before reaching down and tapping your shoulder.
You stir a bit and open your eyes, instantly looking up at Clay with a tired smile. Then you looked over and, too, noticed his mom. “Mrs. Beresford,” you sit up immediately and put a cushion of space between you and Clay. “I didn’t know you were coming home today.”
His mother smiled down at you, and Clay knew that smile like the back of his hand. It was her pissed off smile. “I got everything I needed out of my trip,” she replied. “Would you mind giving me and my son a minute alone?”
You scratch at your jaw and look over at Clay with an uneasy expression. “Of course not,” you answer and stand up. “I’ll go wake Joey up and get him ready for school.”
“No need,” she stopped you before you could leave the room. “I’ll be home all day, so we won’t need your services.”
She was being so cold to you and Clay wanted to say something but had no idea where to start. His heart ached a bit when you gave him a look that practically begged him for help, but he stayed silent. “Okay,” you murmur, giving her a forced smile. “I’ll just go pack then.”
“Okay,” his mother said before she turned back to face him.
“Mom-” he tried but she held up her hand and waited until you were out of the room and up the stairs before she dropped her act.
“Clayton, have you lost your mind?” She asked loudly, clearly not caring much about the fact that you could still probably hear her. “Don’t you remember the last time you slept with the help?”
Clay glared at her as he braced his elbows on his knees. “It wasn’t like that,”
“Oh, well, I sure hope not,” she rasped. “Samantha left you all alone with a boy who wasn’t even six months old yet, do you remember that? And now I find you sleeping with the nanny.”
“She’s not the nanny, God, mother, would you drop it?” He muttered and dropped his gaze. “And we weren’t sleeping together. Not like that, anyway.”
Lilith crossed her arms. “Don’t act all innocent, Clay, damnit. What were you doing with her?”
“We just fell asleep!” He loudly answered as he stood up. “That’s it. We were watching a movie together then fell asleep, that’s all. She’s twenty, mother, what do you think could happen there?” He hated the words that were currently leaving his mouth, but he wasn’t ready to have his mother control another relationship of his.
He wasn’t even being truthful, not at all, but he needed to get her off his back. Clay had just begun whatever this is with you, and you needed to have a proper conversation about it before he was able to let himself reveal that he had feelings for you to his overprotective and sometimes overbearing mom.
Lilith narrowed her gaze, and he knew she wasn’t really buying it. “Don’t lie to me, Clay. I mean it,”
He took a breath as he felt his heartbeat quicken a bit, and when he met her eyes again he could see the concern in them. “I’m not lying, mother,” he says, surprised at how calm he sounded. “I promise. That will never happen again. Nothing is going on between Y/n and I.”
As soon as those words left his mouth, you poked your head into the living room, an unreadable expression on your face as you adjusted the strap of your bag on your shoulder. “I’m heading out,” you told them, your gaze cold and hard. “Mr. Beresford, your son is up. He’s asking for you.”
Even your tone was cold, and Clay had a horrible feeling that you had heard what he said. “Okay,” he quickly responded, walking around his mom and towards you. “I’ll walk you to the door.” He offered, hearing Lilith clear her throat from behind him.
“Shouldn’t you be getting Joey dressed, Clay?” She asked, and when he turned to face her once he was next to you, he saw that her annoyed expression had returned as she crossed her arms.
He opened his mouth to respond but wasn’t able to say anything before you turned around and headed for the stairs. “I’ll only be a minute,” he spoke quickly before following after you. “Y/n-”
“Thank you for letting me stay at your house, Mr. Beresford,” you cut him off as you descended the stairs with him right behind you. “I hope I helped you out a bit while your mother was away.”
Clay’s brows furrowed as you both reached the bottom. “That’s not…you know you did- Y/n, wait,” he rasped and gently took your wrist in his hand, turning you to face him. “I’m sorry about what I said. I don’t know how much you heard, but-”
“I didn’t hear anything,” you lied, shaking your wrist free and putting a few steps of distance between you. He wanted to close the space again, but the look you were currently giving him had him refraining from doing so. “Are we done here?”
Clay looked at you for a few more seconds before nodding, not at all being done here but understanding that you didn’t want to be around him right now. He broke eye contact and reached into his pocket, guilty pulling out his wallet. “Here, I’ll pay you extra-”
“No need,” you brushed him off. Jesus, he probably just made you feel like an escort or something. Could he fuck this up any more than he already has? “Just save it for next time.”
So there will be a next time. “Okay,” he hesitantly agreed, adding, “Can you pick him up from school tomorrow?”
You nod quickly and he could see the way your eyes watered with unshed tears. Fuck, he felt like a complete asshole. “Sure,”
You open the door but before you could step out, he stops you again with his hand on the frame. “Y/n,” he called softly, but you didn’t look at him. He didn’t blame you. With a sigh, he asked, “Let me know you got home okay?”
It was the early morning and probably the safest the streets could be, but he still wanted to know that you had made it home. “Okay,” you answer and leave the house the second he takes his hand off the door and allows you to open it.
Clay stands there and watches as you begin to walk down the street instead of calling for a cab, and he knew you probably needed the walk to clear your head. He had no idea how far away you lived from him, but he still wouldn’t feel any better if he did know, anyway.
He looked down at his wrinkled button up and huffed, closing the door with more force than he needed to before heading upstairs and walking right past the living room, where his mother still stood.
-
Your face burned in embarrassment as you let your apartment door slam shut. Your eyes stung from the tears you held back during the entire thirty minute walk home from Clay’s place.
You should have never kissed him. You should have never let yourself get so close to him. He didn’t want you. He thought you were too young and immature for him. He didn’t want you.
You drop your bag onto the carpet in the entryway as you press the heels of your hands against your eyes. What was wrong with you? Why did you ever think for a second that this guy - who clearly has his life figured out - would ever want you as something more than a fling? He has a kid, for fucks sake.
Humiliation takes over your body as you make your way to your bedroom. You toss your phone onto your dresser and fall onto your bed, your face pressed against your pillow as the tears finally leave your eyes.
Things should have never escalated past a professional relationship, and now you were left stuck in the most awkward situation ever. You were his kid’s babysitter and had indulged in a heated makeout with him on his couch, then fell asleep on him an hour or so later.
Why did you kiss him? Twice? Why didn’t he stop you?
If he didn’t want anything to happen with you, why did he let things go that far?
You squeezed your eyes shut tightly as you thought about how you were supposed to act like he hadn’t totally crushed you with his words when you babysit Joey tomorrow? How were you supposed to face him after that?
He was right, you’re just a child compared to him. Someone who has no idea what she wants to do with her life and someone who had no business trying to pursue something with her employer.
God, you are so embarrassed.
You weren’t sure how long you cried for, but when you woke up a few hours later you wanted to cry again at how pathetic you felt. You had literally just cried yourself to sleep over a guy. You hadn’t done that since you were seventeen and were sure that your boyfriend at the time was the fucking love of your life, when in reality he was just an immature teenager. You were sure you looked similar to that in Clay’s eyes.
Your phone going off from where you left it on your dresser makes you jump slightly, and you have just enough self control to wait until it goes to voicemail before you push yourself up and make your way to it.
As you unlock it, you are met with a few unread texts and a missed call from Clay, and your heart ached even further.
7:19 AM
Clay Beresford: I’m sorry about how things went before you left. I didn’t know she was coming home today, otherwise that whole thing wouldn’t have happened.
9:23 AM
Clay Beresford: Hey, it’s been a while now and you haven’t let me know you got home yet. Just checking in.
10:01 AM
Clay Beresford: Please tell me you made it home okay.
Tears gathered in your eyes again as Clay was a genuinely nice guy, he just simply didn’t want you in the same way you want him. You’d have to get over him, and you could only hope that happened as quickly as it started.
You inhale sharply as you text him back.
Sorry, I fell asleep as soon as I got home. Don’t worry about it. See you tomorrow.
You turn your phone off after that and set it aside as you sit down at your small kitchen table and open your laptop. While you planned on getting over your crush on Clay, you still knew you wouldn’t be able to work for him for much longer, so with another quick inhale, you begin your search for another job.
-
Clay fucked up, that much he knew.
He sat at his desk at work, his eyes glued to his phone as he reread your text. You had become so short in your responses to him, both over the phone and in real life. You had called him Mr. Beresford. Multiple times.
He tossed his phone aside as he leaned back and sighed, running his hands down his face as he heard his computer go off with another incoming email.
It was only ten in the morning, and he was already done with the day.
He was out of line when he was talking to his mom earlier, and had he known that you were able to hear what he was saying, he would’ve never said it. He knew his words hurt you, and he was sure he fucked up any chance with you now since he was just a coward who can’t stand up to his mom.
You probably wouldn’t want to be with him, anyway, if you knew that he was pretty much momma’s boy. Truly, you deserve someone more mature than he was, but that didn’t mean he didn’t want you.
He really did. He hasn’t felt this way since Sam, and even then he couldn’t remember feeling like this. Clay hadn’t thought about her at all lately, and he knew it’s because of you. His mind is constantly consumed with thoughts of you and Joey, and how much his son had grown attached to you.
If you stopped babysitting because he is a fucking idiot, it’ll break Joey’s poor heart, and that would probably break Clay’s.
Other than Lilith and Rick, you are the only other person who was a constant in Joey’s life, and your sudden absence from it would surely be confusing for the four year old.
Clay ended up going home early and picking Joey up from school two hours before it ended, simply because he was really the only person that brought him comfort, with the exception of you, but that was only a recent thing and he already fucked it up.
He was on his back on the living room floor, the expensive rug making it a bit more comfortable as Joey sat on top of him and played with his stuffed bear Lilith had gotten him for his second birthday. “I miss Y/n,” he mumbled as he pulled at the blue bow the bear had around its neck.
Clay gave his son a small smile, both at his sweet words and at the way he was getting better at pronouncing your name. “I miss her, too, bub,” he said and meant it. Having you over for two nights was amazing and walking into the kitchen to see you and Joey already in there felt strangely normal. He can’t believe he fucked that up.
It had only been a few minutes since he got home when his mom walked down stairs and stopped once she glanced into the living room and saw both her son and grandson in there. “Oh, you’re back early,” she observed, looking over at the clock as she entered the room. “It’s only one thirty.”
“I know,” Clay responded, reaching up and running his fingers through Joey’s hair. “It was a slow day.” He lied, and avoided eye contact with her since he knew he couldn’t actually lie to her.
“Uh huh,” she said and crouched down next to them, smoothing out the mess Clay made of Joey’s hair. “You should be in school.” She said in a lighter tone, making Joey smile up at her.
“Daddy said he missed me,” he said back.
“Did he?” She asked, looking down at Clay with a raised brow. “I was the one who was gone for four days and you’re the one he missed? That’s not very fair, is it?”
Joey laughs and holds the bear out to her, and she takes it with a smile. Then he got up and reached out to her with both arms, making Clay sigh as she picked him up. “I hope you aren’t still upset about this morning,” she says, holding Joey on her hip. “I warned you about that girl, Clay. The last thing we need is another Samantha Lockwood.”
Her name had Clay sitting up with a grimace. “She’s nothing like Sam, mother,” he defended you even though you weren’t here to witness it like you were this morning when he excused you as if you meant nothing. “Y/n’s nice, and she’s great with Joey. He loves her already.”
Lilith nodded with a knowing glint in her eyes, “Yes, the Beresford boys fall for people quite fast,” she replied. “Just as long as you haven’t.” She added and left the room, heading towards the kitchen with his son in her arms.
Clay huffed as he moved to sit on the couch, taking out his phone once he was settled against the backrest. He wanted to call you and try to explain why he said what he did, but he was sure you wouldn’t understand. Or you wouldn’t care.
He didn’t really deserve to call you right now. He deserved to wallow in the guilt for way longer than just a few hours.
You will be here when he gets home from work tomorrow. He needed to try and get you to listen to him before you left again.
Until then he will give you space and try not to piss you off more than he has already.
-
“Y/n!” Joey excitedly says as he runs over to you. “I missed you!”
You bend down and wrap your arms around his little body. “Hey, buddy,” you say back. “I missed you, too.”
He pulls away with a smile as his small fingers play with your bracelet. “Daddy says he misses you, too,” your own smile dropped a bit at that as you ran your hand up and down his back.
“He did?” You ask with a forced laugh. “That’s nice, huh?”
You stand back up and take his smaller hand in yours as you lead him towards the car. “Yeah, and he picked me up from school yesterday,” he told you, making your brows furrow a bit as you get him situated in the backseat of Rick’s car.
He probably meant that Clay had picked him up when the day was over instead of having Lilith or Rick do it himself. Still, your forehead sported a crease the whole drive to Clay’s house at the fact that he left work early enough to be able to pick Joey up at three.
Once you have the front door locked, you take Joey’s hand again and grab his bag with your free one as he tugs you up the stairs. You unpack his lunchbox as he snacks on the cheese and crackers you got out for him, and when you pull out his work from today your smile returns.
He had drawn you again, but this time it was just you and him holding hands, with a teddy bear in his other one. “This is cute, Joe,” you tell him as you sit next to him at the kitchen table.
Joey looks up and gives you a big smile as he points at it. “That’s for you,”
Your smile falters once again as you look between him and the drawing. “For me?”
He nods as he chews on a cracker. “I made it for you,”
You press your lips together as you look over the drawing again, noting the little details that showed it was you. Your hair color, your eye color, the bracelet on your left wrist. It was represented by a simple black line on your wrist, but it still had you reaching over and wrapping your free arm around him. “I love it,” you say with a wavering voice. “Thank you, babe.” The name slipped out before you could even realize it, but the big grin Joey gave you afterwards had you feeling less embarrassed about it.
You had spent a good portion of your day yesterday looking for another job, but now you were dreading leaving this one. Sure, it wasn’t very ideal to consider babysitting a job, but it was your source of income for now.
Joey was so damn cute and so nice for his young age, how could you just up and leave him? Even though he wasn’t old enough to realize that his own mother had abandoned him, the thought of being like her made your skin crawl. You couldn’t do that to him, but things with Clay were so awkward and full of tension, how could you stay after what he said about you?
You were so embarrassed, you weren’t even sure how you were going to face him when he got home later. Maybe you could slip out quickly as soon as he entered the house? Yeah, you’ll do that.
You sit at the table with Joey for a long time, talking about nothing and everything as you share a coloring page. Gone were the cheese and crackers, and when he looked up at you with a pouty lip, you knew he was hungry for dinner.
Standing back up, you set the drawing aside and get started on dinner, which was a simple ground beef and pasta casserole. Joey finished it quickly and hopped off the chair, heading in direction of the living room as you put away the leftovers.
“Daddy!” You hear him call and pause, your fingers wrapped tightly around the plastic container as Joey laughs somewhere in the hall. You look over at the clock on the stove and see that it is only six thirty. Clay was home early.
Well, at least earlier than he had been for most of the days you’ve been babysitting Joey.
You hear quiet footsteps near the kitchen and slowly turn, meeting Clay’s eyes as he stands in the doorway with Joey in his arms. He looked nervous as he held his son against his chest, his forearm pressed firmly against his back. “Hey,” he said cautiously.
Turning back around, you secure the lid on the container before walking over to the fridge and putting it inside. “Hi,” you answer shortly and feel the tension start to grow. “You’re home earlier than I expected.”
Clay sets Joey down as he says, “Yeah, I rushed through most of my meetings today,”
You nod and grab your bag from off the table, slipping the drawing inside as you do so. “Well, I guess I’ll be going now,”
“Wait,” he calls softly, gently nudging Joey in the direction of the living room as he looks at you with pleading eyes. “We should talk.”
You give him a shrug and a forced smile. “There’s nothing to talk about-”
“Yes, there is,” he cut you off and when you met his eyes again, you could see what looked like desperation in them. You break eye contact as soon as you make it and play with the strap of your bag. “Please.”
You don’t say anything as you stare at the floor, your face burning when you feel your eyes sting.
“I’m going to go get him ready for bed,” he started, making you hesitantly glance up at him. He looked hopeful as he asked, “Will you stay? And after I put him to bed, we can talk…please? I feel awful.”
You bite down harshly on your lip as you shift uncomfortably. With a sigh, you walk past him and towards the living room, feeling Clay follow close behind you. Joey smiled at you as you sat next to him on the couch, and when you set your bag down again on the floor, you could hear the quiet sigh of relief Clay let out.
“Come on, bub,” he held out his hand. “Bath time.”
Joey got up and gave you a quick hug before running over to his dad and taking his much bigger hand. When Clay looked back at you as he guided Joey upstairs, all you did was give him a small, barely-there smile, and that seemed to be enough assurance for him. At least for now.

Eddie and Max get out of the hospital at the same time. Eddie's scars are tender. It hurts to move sometimes. But he's got ointment, and pain pills, he'll be fine.
Max can see, not super well, but it improves a little every week. Her arms are mostly healed, she still has slings for when they ache. Her legs are healed, technically, the bones anyway. But she's got braces and isn't supposed to walk on them yet. She can stand on them for a couple minutes off and on to stretch them. But she goes to physical therapy multiple times a week.
Her mom had been rightly worried and upset and freaked out, because they couldn't afford a van for her wheelchair. And yeah she can get out of her wheelchair if she needs too, but its easier on her body if she can just, roll in and out of a vehicle.
So eddie tells her mom he can drive her around. All they need is a ramp for his van. He already had straps in the back to secure things, they use them on Gareth's drum set. The relief on Max's mothers face and the way she hugs him genlty is... too much. He just smiles and looks away, nodding when she thanks him again.
He drives her to therapy twice and decides that her trailer needs a ramp too. A good one. He can't help lift Max's chair, so he just has to watch Max's mom struggle to get her up the stairs.
So he goes home and starts drawing. He can see it in his head, the way he wants it, bigger than it probably needs to be, but he wants the slope to be low impact, because once her arms get strong enough to move herself, he wants her to able to do that. He just... doesn't know how he's gonna manage to DO all this.
But he goes to the hardware store one day, with Wayne, because Wayne knows things, about everything. And Wayne helps him pick out the wood, they estimate the numbers and then buy a little more, just in case. And they load it up, and drop it by Max's house. And the next day, Wayne goes to work, and so does Eddie.
He ties his hair back, shoves himself into a pair of Wayne's old cover alls, and walks slowly over to Max's, she doesn't have therapy today, or the next two. Eddie doesn't think he can get it done by then, but he's gonna fucking get it started if it kills him. He pops a pain pill into his mouth, takes a swig from the water he'd brought with him, takes a look at the drawing he'd made, and gets to work.
Max rolls onto her small porch steps about an hour into Eddie's work, he's been measuring and cutting and just separating things into piles. She says his name softly and he looks up, squinting, he's covered in sweat. And his body fucking hurts. He wipes at his forehead with his arm and limps over to Max. She's holding out a new glass of water.
"What are you doing?" Her voice is ...tight. Like she knows exactly what he's doing. Eddie chugs the water and hands her back the empty glass.
"What? You don't like suprises?" He huffs, smiles with the tease. She smiles back, her bottom lip trembling slightly. He rests his hand gently on her knee, gives it a squeeze, then heads back to where he was,
"Go inside. I can't keep an eye you when I'm working and if you roll off that teeny tiny porch you're mom'll kill me." She snorts, but does as he says. A few minutes later Eddie hears the door slap shut again, and looks up to see another glass of water sitting on the porch. He shouts a thank you, and keeps working.
It only takes another hour before he almost has a breakdown. His skin hurts, he's hot, his hands are shaking. He's downed three more glasses of water. His last thank you had been so strangled that Max had just looked at him and then disappeared into the house.
He's sitting on the porch steps now, hands shaking in his lap, tears falling down his face. He can't take another pill yet. He's got two hours. He takes a few very deep breathes, about to steel himself and get back to work, his hands are on his knees, about to push himself up, when he hears the car.
He looks up, and Steve's car is parking at his house. His hands fall from his knees. But its not just Steve in the car, Nancy and Robin are there too. All of them in old looking jeans, and ratty looking shirts.
Robin's are covered in paint. Eddie's breathing goes shakey as Steve pats Robin's shoulder and points at Eddie. Robin nods and heads for him, doing a weird little run, Eddie can't help but smile. Steve and Nancy are grabbing things from Steve's trunk, Eddie doesn't see what things, before Robin is filling his vision, dropping to her knees in front of him looking concerned as her hands gently cradle his face.
"Hey you. You okay? Max said you might need some help." Robin breaths it out like a sigh, like she'd been holding in her worry. Eddie bites his lip to stop it from trembling anymore and nods. She nods back with a smile.
"Okay cool. Well, help is here. Help being, Steve and Nancy." She nods to them.
"And I'm gonna sit with you until you're feeling a bit better okay? Then you can jump back in." Steve clears his throat aggressively as he walks past her at that. Robin's face scrunches.
"Maybe." She tells Eddie. Steve was ... was he mad? He wasn't looking at Eddie, just helping Nancy get the tools they'd need out of the box they brought. Eddie had some tools, but just for one person. Robin rubs his knee gently and squishes in next to him on the stairs.
"So you got baby sitting duty?" He asks her, his side pressing into her as almost all the fight to stay upright leaves his body. She's steady beside him, holds him up easily, her hand curling around his bicep for extra support.
"Well, Nancy and Steve thought it was probably best that I don't handle tools. So yeah, but hey, babysitting you's not so bad. I mean you're a GREAT conversationalist." Robin smiles brightly at him, watches him try to smile back and then grimace.
"You okay?" Her voice is concerned now, and that apparently draws Steve's attention. He's at Eddie side in the time it takes for Eddie to nod, his face still scrunched in pain. Steve kneels, looks up at him.
"Where are your pills?" He asks. Eddie shakes his head.
"Hour an a half." Eddie grunts out. Steve's head falls and then it's shaking, he sighs, and fuck, he sounds disappointed. And he's glaring at Eddie when he finally looks back up.
"What the fuck were you thinking? Doing this by yourself, with no one here but Max to help you if you got hurt. Did you think about that?" Steve's voice gets louder as he talks.
"Steve." Robin's voice, a warning.
"No. Robin. This is... you could've gotten hurt Eddie." He huffs it, his voice is full of frustration, and anger. Eddie just stares at the ground, tries to breathe around the lump in his throat.
"I know I fucked up alright? Can we spare the lecture?" He grits, his voice is wobbly. Steve doesn't hear it, just huffs again and stands, Eddie sees his hands hit his hips and braces for whatever he's gonna say next.
"What was Max supposed to do if you got hurt? Huh? She can't help you dude! And Wayne's at work! You're all alone out here, when you shouldn't even be out here in the first place!" Steve is openly yelling now, both Nancy and Robin saying his name as Eddie's shoulders shake. Eddie clears his throat roughly, pushing the tight feeling away so he can speak. He shoves himself to his feet with a wince, pain shooting through his body.
"You think I dont know that? I know how fucking alone I am. Thank you. Steve." His hand clenches at the pain in his side, a whimper rips out of his throat, tears burn his eyes and fall. Steve looks startled, then concerned, reaches out to steady him, Eddie slaps his hand away, hard.
"Don't fuckin touch me." He growls, wipes at his eyes with shakey hands and starts walking to his trailer. His foot hits a dip in the ground and he stumbles, Robin catches him, just enough to keep him on his feet. She lets go immediately as he shrugs her touch off gently, and keeps walking.
"FUCK!" he yells it, to no one really, just built up frustration clawing its way out of him. He stomps, carefully, up his own trailer steps, and lets the door slam shut behind him.
Max's trailer door squeaks open, and the three of them turn to see her looking at Steve.
"That was harsh. I told you to come help him, not fucking yell at him and make it worse." The look in her eyes could cut glass. Steve droops under her scrutiny, his hands moving to cover his face.
"Fuck. I know." He groans. He looks up, and over to Robin.
"What's wrong with me?" He sighs, his head hanging again. Robin gives him a sympathetic smile, walks closer, rubs at his arm.
"You care about him. And you were mad. And when you're upset you get...." she trails off, thinking.
"Bitchy." Nancy supplies, moving to his other side, her hand on his shoulder as he glares at her.
"What? You do. Eddie was trying to do something nice. Something amazing, actually, for Max." Steve glares harder, she holds her finger up, silencening whatever he was about to interupt her with.
"And yes he went about it the wrong way. He obviously should have called for help." Robin chimes in, squeezing his arm.
"But no one said he was a genius. He's just trying to help." Nancy finishes, moving her hand over his shoulder soothingly.
"I know that. But he can't... he can't just help others to point that he hurts himself!" Steve flails a little, both Robin and Nancy leaning away from him, out of his flail range. They share a look though. And Max snorts behind him. He wips around to look at her.
"What? What was that for?" He asks, his tone, to his dismay, bitchy.
"Did you hear what just came out of your mouth? Have you met yourself?" She asks, crossing her arms carefully over her chest. She glares at him until he deflates. He sighs. Squints against the sun as he looks up at the sky.
"I need to go apologize." He says. All three girls nod.
"Yep." Nancy says, pressing her lips together so she doesn't smile.
"Definitely. 100% yeah." Robin squeezes his arm again, gives him an encouraging nod.
"If you don't. I'm throwing myself down these steps and telling my mom you left me unsupervised." Max says, her voice flat. Steve's eyes widen, and then he gives her a look.
"Jesus. Alright. I was already going. No need for threats." He calls the last part over his shoulder as he makes his way to Eddie's trailer. He bounces up the steps gingerly and knocks.
"Come in." Eddie's voice calls. Steve opens the door, the living room is empty. He walks down to Eddie's room and his heart sinks. Eddie has one arm pulled up inside his coveralls, it's bent at an interesting angle, he's sitting in the edge of his bed, his face is wet with tears. He flinches a little when he sees it's Steve standing there and that hurts Steve too. He moves closer, just one step and then Eddie chokes out,
"I'm stuck." And Steve moves fast. He kneels in front of Eddie, trying to look at the situation, his arm is caught in the sleeve, his elbow shoved into it tightly, he moves Eddie's wrist and Eddie flinches again.
"Does it hurt?" He asks, keeping his voice quiet. Eddie nods, bites his lip. The sleeve is pressing hard into Eddie's arm, right where one of his scars is. Steve winces in sympathy.
"How attached are you to these?" He tugs on the front of the coveralls, Eddie looks at him.
"I'm not. They're Wayne's old pair." He says, his voice tight from the pain.
"Okay good." Steve says as he slides his pocket knife out, flicks it open, and cuts the sleeve in one fluid motion. Eddie's arm drops free, another whimper falls out of him at the release.
Steve cradles Eddie's arm, holds it gently as Eddie catches his breath. His fingers squeeze Eddie's wrist and he opens his eyes. Looks at Steve.
"I'm sorry I yelled at you." Steve says, not letting go of Eddie's wrist. Eddie blinks at him. Stares. Then shakes his head.
"Don't be. I fucked up. You were right. I shouldn't have been out there by myself." Eddie frowns, wipes at his wet face. Steve shakes his head then, pushing himself up onto his knees, his back straightening, moving him closer to Eddie's face.
"No. Don't do that. It wasn't your fault. Okay? I shouldn't have yelled. You were trying to help Max. And I just... I didn't wanna find you hurt. Again." Steve looks at Eddie, really looks at him, tries to convey what he means without having to say it. Eddie's eyes are wide, and a little glassy from crying, but Steve sees it, the moment realization hits him.
"Okay. I won't do it again." Eddie nods, moves his wrist in Steve's hand so he can curl his fingers around Steve's wrist.
"Thank you. Just call us. We'll help you. Okay? And Eddie?" Steve swallows, stands and lifts Eddie to his feet, Eddie blinks at him owlishly.
"You're not alone. I'm sorry if we made you feel that way." Steve whispers it, feels his throat burn as Eddie starts crying again. He wipes at his face and shakes his head, looks at Steve with some strange frown smile combo.
"No I know. I just... it's always just been me. And Wayne. Ya know?" He says, holding onto Steve as he sways, dizzy. Steve holds onto him right back.
"Yeah. Well... not anymore." Steve shrugs, smiles, and then tugs Eddie out of his room. They get him another pain pill, Steve rubs some ointment onto the scar on his arm, and then they go back outside.
Nancy is cutting wood while Robin measures and marks. Steve doesn't let go of Eddie's hand until he has him sitting on the porch steps. Max hands him another glass of water.
"You're drinking me out of house and home Munson." She teases, he stares her down as he chugs the water, holds the glass back out to her and wiggles it with a shit eating grin.
"Unbelievable. Sending the girl in the wheelchair to do your errands." She sighs, but smiles when Eddie hops up and gets the door for her, follows her inside to help. He pops back a minute later and hands Steve a peice of paper. It has his plans for the ramp on it.
"This is sort of what I was aiming for." He shrugs, watches Steve look over the paper.
"You did this?" He asks, looking back up at Eddie. Eddie nods, wraps his arms around himself, feeling self-conscious under Steve's gaze.
"What? What's wrong with it?" He asks when Steve says nothing.
"What? Oh no, sorry, nothing's wrong. It's just super detailed." Steve smiles, shakes his head, hands the paper to Robin and Nancy.
"Yeah well, I wanted it done right." Eddie shrugs, Nancy makes a weird moaning sound behind them, both of them look to see her looking down at the paper in her hands, lovingly. She looks back up at Eddie.
"Finally! Someone else detail oriented. I'm making copies of this." She sounds genuine as she waves the paper, smiling at Eddie. He flushes red and moves to sit on the steps again. When his hands stop shaking he helps Robin with the measurements.
She measures, he measures, Nancy and Steve cut.
It takes them two days. But they get it done. The ramp wraps around the side of the trailer, where Max's mom always parks. He bought some plywood as well, to put down on the ground, so Max's wheels wouldn't sink.
The first time she pushes Max down the ramp she nearly cries as she throws herself at Eddie. Hugs him tight and then apologizes when he huffs in pain. Max grabs his hand, looks up at him with her bright blue eyes, and kisses his arm. Just a little peck, smooching the bats on his skin. But he gets it. That's all she needs to do. He knows she's grateful.
Steve shows up at Eddie's trailer the day after they finish the ramp. His eyes are wild and he looks like he's been shoving his hands into his hair for a couple of hours. Eddie gets half way through asking what's wrong and then Steve is kissing him. They almost fall into the trailer with the force of it. Steve catches them, rights them, but doesn't let go of Eddie, just lets out a breathy,
"Sorry sorry." As he keeps them steady. Eddie just smiles dumbly at him. Wayne stands from the couch, clears his throat awkwardly and pats Eddie on the shoulder as he leaves, says,
"Told you them coveralls was lucky boy." He winks as he passes them. Eddie's laughter filling the trailer behind him as Steve's face goes crimson and he drops his head on Eddie's shoulder with a dramatic groan.

~ Chapter 1. 01 ~
I apologize in advance for any spelling or grammar mistakes and how poorly written this fanfic is. English is not my first language and together with my dyslexia ass things can go wrong I'm sorry.
With a loud sigh, I open the door slowly hoping nobody would notice me. There were some voices in the living room and upstairs, but they seemed too busy to hear me entering.
Slipping off my shoes I held my stomach trying to ease the pain when I bent forwards. The beating from the previous night was still hurting as bad as when I received them. It also didn't help that I was pushed into the lockers about ten times today.
With slow steps, I began to make my way to the stairs. If I am lucky I can avoid everyone today and get a good night's sleep. My foot had just stepped on the first step of the stairs when I someone clear they were through. I close my eyes taking a deep breath.
"Mi-na. Where do you think you're going?" The sharp raspy voice spoke from behind me.
I turn around gripping tightly on the strap of my backpack that was hanging on my right shoulder.
"I was going to bed," I answered hoping she would be tired and just let it go.
While Taking a drag of her cigarette, her eyes scan me up and down before she blows out the smoke to speak. "Where have you been? It's eight a clock at night."
I opened my mouth to say something, but before I had a chance to speak she was already talking.
"Are you doing something behind my back again? I hope I won't get child services again at my door. I don't need to remind you what happened when they were gone." I swallow thickly grabbing my left arm while rubbing on the scars that were left to remind me.
"N....n..no. I....I was just."
"Just what huh? Speak up or you are spending your night in the shed."
The shed is a cold dark and nasty place. It's where you get sent if you so-called misbehave. You never know when you're allowed to get out or if even a day when by. It's just you in the darkness.
"I had to go to the pharmacy," I mumble looking down at my feet.
A scoff could be heard throughout the room before her shrill voice spoke again.
"Pharmacy? For what huh? Last time I checked you weren't sick."
I look up trying to steady my breath.
"M..my wou-"
"Stop mumbling! You know I hate when someone mumbles!" She yelled stepping closer to me.
"My wounds. They were getting infected. If I didn't threaten them it would get worse and had to go to the hospital. I thought it would be better to threaten them now before people would see it." I explain hoping she would just let me off by yelling at me.
For a few seconds, she looked at me before a stinging hit my cheek making my head turn to the side.
"Don't explain yourself as if you did something good! You wouldn't have those wounds in the first place if you hadn't disobeyed me!"
With heavy breaths, I look at her while holding my burning cheek.
"What money did you use to buy that shit." She asked calmly, too calmly.
"The money I got from my job," I mutter out.
Before I could brace myself she grabbed my hair pulling me closer to her.
"You stole from me?! You know that that money belongs to me!" Her face was so closed that I was getting dizzy from the smell of cigarettes coming from her mouth.
"I'm s..so....ry!" I cry out holding my hair where she was pulling on.
"Sorry? Sorry?! What the fuck does your 'sorry' do me?! Huh?" With every word her grip tightened on my hair, making tears appear in my eyes.
"I give you a place to live and this is how you repay me! Stealing and lying!"
With big force, she pulled me to the ground landing hard on my already bruised knees.
"It's like you're asking to get punished!"
Without any warning, she slammed her foot on my left hand. A loud cry escaped my mouth, but I quickly shut it hoping nobody else would hear it. I don't want the others to come down and help her.
"I....I'm sorry I'll pay it ba.." My voice was interrupted when she twisted her shoe on my hand while putting more pressure on it.
"Without a doubt! I don't care how you do it, I just want my fucking money!" With one last twist, she steps off my hand.
I cradle it against my chest feeling how it was throbbing from the pain. I swear I could feel something broken in it when I ran my finger over it.
"Get out of my eyes before I put you in the shed!" I nodded my head quickly standing up.
I watch as she walks back to the living room making sure she is completely gone before going upstairs. With the back of my other hand, I wipe the tears that had escaped my eyes.
Every day is the same.
Even if I do everything she wants she still finds a way to punish me.
With a deep sigh, I enter my room closing the door behind me. At least I didn't see the other kids. They love to watch or even help with her. Even in school, I can't escape. They just continue what they started at home there.
Walking to my bed I turn on the bedside lamp making it less dark in my room. It wasn't big and there wasn't much in it, but at least I was alone. I put my bag to the side before taking off my hoodie and shirt underneath it. I had just pulled my jeans down when I heard a crack in the floor behind me.
Quickly I turned around and came face to face with Drew. There was a cocky smirk on his face while looking me up and down. Quickly I grabbed my hoodie and threw it over my head hoping it would cover most of my body.
"Don't stop because of me. There is nothing I haven't seen before." I bite the inside of my cheek shaking my head at him.
"What are doing in my room, Drew? It has already been a long day and I really want to go to bed."
A part of me knew why he was here. While the other part hoped he was just here to annoy me. But seeing that it was late at night only one thing came to my mind. I have told myself that I won't let him do this to me anymore. That I would fight harder until he was annoyed and just left me alone.
A chuckle left his lips before taking a step toward me. As I said it was a small room, and it didn't take him much to reach me.
"Just wanted to say hey. Besides I heard that you were in trouble again with Ms. Ward. You just can't help yourself, don't you, love?" He reaches out moving a strain of hair out of my face.
The moment his fingertips grazed my cheek I could feel a chill run up my spine.
"Don't touch me," I mutter out moving my face from his hands.
"Just get out of my room. Haven't you done enough today?" I breathe out tiredly.
With both his hands he grabbed my face pulling me completely against his body.
"What the?! I said le.." Before I could finish he had crashed his lips on mine.
I had to process for a second what was happening before I began to struggle to get away from him. I felt him bite my lip, but I firmly held my two lips together denying entrance. With one strong shove, I push him away from me taking a deep breath immediately afterward.
"What's wrong with you!?" I cough out wiping my lips.
"Can't you go to one of your side chicks? Why do you want me?!" I whispered trying not to let the others know what was happening here.
A laugh came out of his mouth before he moved back in front of me. I took a few steps back but was quickly met with the bed behind me. Almost falling backward on it.
"Nobody is like you, love. You're just so different than the others."
I shook my head.
"Just go," I whisper hoping he would listen to me.
The same annoying chuckle left his mouth before he gave me a shove. Quickly I fell backward on my bed hitting my head hard on the wall.
For a second I think had passed out, but was quickly back to the present, well half the present.
My sight was hazy and blurry like they had put a filter over my eyes. When I tried to move my head the room seemed to spin around me, making me close my eyes tightly trying not to get dizzy. Without noticing I fell back in the dark, but not before I felt a presence beside me.
I felt someone grabbing my legs and putting them on the bed slowly I opened my eyes and saw someone sitting on the bed beside me slowly rubbing my bare leg. Goosebumps ran through my body making me want to pull away, but it was like my body wasn't listening. There was a voice, but it was muffled like I was in the water.
I think I passed out again because the next time I woke up I could feel coldness over my whole body. Slowly I looked down and saw that my hoodie was gone. I wanted to panic and run away, but everything was still blurry around me. A dark figure hovered above me before a hand touched my cheek and some words came out of its mouth that I couldn't understand.
When I woke up again I could feel something sitting between my legs. Still, with blurry vision, I looked down and saw what I thought was Drew. I watched as he moved his hands from my leg to my stomach stopping just underneath my bra. I shook my head and I could hear myself say a weak 'no', but that didn't stop him one bit.
I felt him put his two hands beside my face before leaning down and whispering.
"Don't worry love, I'll let you enjoy it too." before kissing my earlobe up until my cheek before crashing his lips on me. I tried to move away, squirming away from his touch and trying to push him away, but he didn't budge with my weak attempt.
Suddenly I felt myself sinking deeper into my mattress, before being fully in it and the touch of Drew faded away. The material of the mattress disappeared underneath my back and before I knew it I began to fall. My body felt like I was a doll that was tossed to the side of the room when a child was done playing with it.
Nothing worked not even my own voice.
I was ready to hit the ground and welcome the darkness of death, but when my back finally met the ground I only felt pain shoot through my body.
For a few seconds, I just lay there thinking I would probably pass out, but then I began to notice something.
It was so silent.
All the noise from the people in the house, Drew, or even the noises from outside my room was completely gone. I felt my fingers twitch from beside me slowly feeling the ground around me. I only felt cold concrete. Finally, I could open my eyes and was met with a dark room.
Is this the afterlife?
Am I in hell for all the shitty things I had done in life? The cold on my body was completely gone which made me look down. Somehow my clothes were back on. Maybe I am really dead.
"Don't worry you're still alive. For now." A voice spoke from somewhere in the dark and followed with a dark snickering.
I quickly sat up noticing that my wounds and pain were gone.
"You know you can still accept me. It's never too late to be the thing always wanted to be." The voice was so familiar to me, but I could place a face with it.
I began to turn around trying to see where the person was, but there was nothing. When a laugh came from behind I turned around ready to run towards it when the ground underneath my feet crumbled away. With a yelp, I managed to grab onto the side of the hole.
I pulled my head above the edge leaning on my arms underneath my chin. Being hopeful that I could pull myself up a cry left my lips when something grabbed my leg pulling me down. Soon others follow making me almost lose my grip.
While struggling to get free of the hands I heard a laugh in front of me. Looking up I could see a person coming from out of the shadows. My eyes widened when I saw that they looked exactly like me. The only things that were different and stood out were the black eyes and the sinister smile.
"You know, I can help you if you want to."
My nails were digging into the ground trying to get a grip on something to hold me up, but I kept slipping away. Everything inside of me was screaming not to trust her. She squad down in front of me looking down at me with those abysses of eyes and a smile.
"Don't you want to be strong?" She mockingly said with a chuckle at the end.
By now I was holding on to the edge with just my fingers.
"Come take my hand. I'll help you." A part of me wanted to let go so that I would be away from her, but the other part wanted to reach out.
It was the part that was tired of fighting to survive.
I have been fighting my whole life, maybe this is a gift for everything that has happened.
With a shaky hand, I began to reach out toward the other me, but before I could brush my fingertips against hers a hand reached my shoulders yanking forcefully so that I let go of the edge.
For the second time, I was falling, but now everything was dark around me. I yelled loudly while the hands were still holding me, their grip getting harder and harder. One reached my throat and I could feel it begin to squeeze cutting off the air that was going into my body.
A loud banging began to sound around me getting louder and louder while the light from the hole got smaller and smaller.

Words: brace, tired, hotel and/or kitchen
Thank you love!!! These asks have been amazing in keeping me motivated and keeping my queue full :)
Brace - from Ch17 of The Richmond Job
“How you doing there Sully?” Ted’s voice took over from Beard as Jamie was in the zone. This was, god Jamie had never felt so alive. He had a bedsheet as a projector background, his laptop running a flight simulator through the Jet2 plane systems and a PS5 controller in hand … and he was flying a plane. He was going to land a fucking plane using computers. Well landing might be a strong word for it but it was going to end up on the ground in one piece. And he did that. Jamie fucking Tartt was going to save this flight and his team. No one would ever know but he would know. He would always know. Never make anything of himself, that was what his dad always said. “You’re made for this kid. Nothing more than a blunt instrument for others to use.” Well fuck that. Jamie Tartt was a fucking pilot. “You might want to brace for impact Ted. You’re coming in hot,” Jamie warned, glad that no one else could see the manic grin on his face.
Tired - Augusnippets Day 18 (It Worked Too Well)
“Jamie? What’s going on?” Keeley was immediately there, squatting down at Jamie’s bedside with a comforting hand on his hip rubbing little circles. Which was exactly what he knew was going to happen, and exactly what he didn’t want to happen. “Just tired,” Jamie groaned, throwing one hand over his eyes so he didn’t have to look at Keeley’s disappointed expression. “Can I go home?” “We need to wait for the doctors. So we can have this conversation now. Why the fuck were none of us called?” Roy growled. “Roy,” Keeley scolded, but Jamie could tell her heart wasn’t in it and she wanted to know as well. “I’m fine it’s just some bruising,” Jamie muttered. No one listened. He knew no one would listen.
Hotel - from Ch6 of A Treatment Room Doors Moment
“I should try and get a hotel,” Roy sighed when the plinky plonky end credits music started to play in the season finale. It was the middle of the night and Jamie had training the next morning. “Fuck that,” Jamie huffed, stretching like a cat in a sunbeam as he untangled himself from the blanket and pillow pile. “It’s late, we’re both pissed. I’ve got like three spare rooms. Just stay here,” Jamie rolled his eyes. “I shouldn’t,” Roy shook his head, rolling to his feet and groaning as his knee spasmed. “Why? Why shouldn’t you? Do you like murder people in your sleep or something because if that is the case lad then I think you should talk to someone about that,” Jamie scoffed crinkling his nose. “Shut up,” Roy growled, “I shouldn’t put you out.” He hadn’t warned Jamie. He hadn’t thought about anything apart from making sure the lad wasn’t going to do anything stupid. It felt wrong to stay. “I have cleaners,” Jamie shrugged. “Come on Roy. I’ll even let you buy me breakfast?”
Kitchen - from Ch2 of God Forbid You Leave Me
“How can I help?” Jamie was lingering nervously in the doorway to the kitchen. Sir Arthur was weaving in and out of Jamie’s legs only pausing whenever Jamie’s hand crept down and scratched at his ruff. Guess it wasn’t only the adult Higgins’ who had adopted their new lodger. “Oh there’s no need Jamie. I’ve got it all under control here,” Higgins smiled, tapping the wooden spoon on the side of the pan where the mince was cooking. “Oh,” Jamie muttered, his shoulders slumping and hand migrating back to patting the dog. Higgins stopped and turned to properly take Jamie in. He was tired, clearly. His hair was mess where it had been vaguely patted down after his sleep and he was still curled in on himself. He must want to just rest yet he was stood in the doorway offering. Higgins wanted to make it clear that Jamie didn’t need to be useful to stay here. But maybe today Jamie just needed to be useful. “But more hands are always better. Or instead you could help entertain the boys instead, it would be a great help to keep them out from underfoot?” Higgins suggested.

Scoleciphobia (Reupload)
One of my nastiest fics, Strade using MCs phobia against them.
Minors and Ageless blogs do not interact, you will be blocked.
Contains: Bugs, Bug Death, Bug Harm, Non-Con, Force Feeding, Vomit, Fearplay, mild self harm/attempted self harm.
Being kept by Strade meant a lot of things. It didn’t mean you were safe from his urges though, and so you had grown used to occasionally being called into the basement, tied up yet again, and forced to endure as he carved into your skin, leaving behind scars you’d carry for the rest of your life. Or sometimes he’d decide to call you names, degrade you until you were a mess of tears and shaking, only then would he pull his cock out and find some other way to defile you.
Today was no different, you were splayed out naked. For some reason, this time, he wanted you naked. Your wrists were tied above your head to the pole, and he had hooked a spreader bar between your thighs, just above your knees. He then left, saying he needed to grab one more thing. You could only sit there, shivering a bit, and a little red in the face. You felt especially vulnerable, not even able to clamp your legs shut.
You tried to focus on your breathing, in and out, slowly. To brace yourself for what was to come. Pain was easy to prepare for, too anticipate, but no matter how many breaths you took you knew you would always give Strade what he wanted. Screams, cries, shaking your head, closing your eyes in agony, begging him to stop. You rationalized that soon it’d be over. He’d help bandage you, pat your head, and then you could go on with your day. As best you could.
You lifted your head as he came in, whistling as if he had just picked up the morning paper. In his hands, was a box, with some holes in it, and mesh covering the holes. It sent a sudden shudder up your spine. Whatever was in that box, you felt like it would be horrific. It couldn’t be anything good.
“Don’t worry Buddy! This is the last thing I need today!” He set the box down gently. You stared at it, noting the large red letters on the side. “
DO NOT OPEN WITH KNIFE OR SHARP OBJECT. THIS COULD RESULT IN PRODUCT DAMAGE”
A warning Strade usually ignored. But not this time, you watched curiously as he dug his finger under the tape, pulling it off with some effort. From the angle you were at, all you could see inside was old newspapers that looked a tad chewed on. Strade began unfolding and digging the newspaper out, and you couldn’t hold back a whimper as something fell to the ground, wriggling.
It was a grub of some kind, and your breath involuntarily hitched. Something Strade noticed, with a cheeky grin.
“Mealworms! You can buy them online, people use them to feed pet lizards or something.” He carefully picked up the one that had fallen out of the box and set it back inside. “I think they’re a little cute, don’t you?” he pressed.
Strade knew exactly what he was doing. He knew how much wriggling worms like these freaked you out, especially after you had screeched when he had dug out a maggot covered something from the trash one day. You could only shake your head as he lifted the box, approaching you.
“Aww, are you shy?” he asked, his grin twisting and deforming his face as he got closer. “Come on, buddy! They want to meet you! They want to be your friend!”
You could only watch, breath stuck in your throat as he tipped the box over. A cascade of worms poured out, raining down. The way they hit your unprotected flesh felt like a flurry of tiny stones, pelting you. Their tiny legs instantly clung to you, and each tiny prick of them digging their microscopic claws into you set a jolt of lightning through you.
You couldn’t even hear yourself scream, thrashing around as much as you could, your mind filled with white noise. It wasn’t until you shook the first off, and it subsequently was crushed beneath your writhing body did you finally come back to reality.
You choked on your scream, it dwindling down into sobs, your body now as unnaturally stiff as you could make it, toes flexed and dug into the basement’s concrete floor as if hoping you could dig into it and bury yourself under it, anything to get away from the thousands of creatures now roaming your body.
It went like this for a while, the movement and clinging becoming too much and you exploding into a burst of wails and wiggling, only to feel the tiny segmented bodies smash and break against you. Then you’d stiffen up, not wanting to feel the cold slime of their insides covering you anymore.
You looked up at Strade, pleading in your eyes, your face covered in your own spit and tears.
“Strade- Strade please. Get them off. GET THEM OFF.” you spat out the final scream like a bitter medicine. It usually took him a bit to get ready to go, but to your surprise, he already had his cock out, and was stroking it furiously, his face red, his pants audible.
“You don’t like them buddy? They seem to like you a lot… Aw fuck, I can’t take it anymore.” You let out a yelp as he lifted your legs, squeezing himself in between them. He was licking his lips.
“I can’t see your hole with all of them there. But it’s okay. I remember where it is.” You heard a ringing in your ears, as he pushed himself in. It burned, It hurt, you were tearing in half. Your sensitive parts could feel everything.
The rolling of disembodied heads before they were smashed to bits. The way the legs still stuck inside as they were flattened and pushed inside. Cold, gooey, everything spreading inside, Strade uncaring as he groaned and only forced himself further, unbothered. The only thing he was concerned with was how it made you feel.
You weren’t screaming anymore. You were letting out choked gasps, wheezing in breaths, staring at him with blown out pupils and a mouth opened wide in horror. No matter what you sucked in, it was never enough, and likewise, enough wouldn’t come out either. Your chest was stuck, frozen it felt like, mid breath.
Strade smiled down at you, shaking his head. A worm was in his hair, and it fell from his head too the floor, before beginning to inch away. It was something you could focus on. That single worm, crawling away from a horror it couldn’t comprehend, a situation it had no capacity to understand. It was so much better than what was happening right now. And Strade couldn’t have that happening.
“You know buddy. He panted, continuing to piston in and out of you. “I hear mealworms have a high protein content.” It shook you from your dissociation, your eyes locking back on him.
“Strade. Strade No.” Was all you could pant out, but when had Strade ever listened to you when you said “no.” down here? He let out a laugh, more akin to a mischievous giggle, like he was about to spray you with the hose.
“You got your mouth hanging wide open, liebling! You must be pretty hungry!” You clamped your mouth shut as he scooped up a handful, stretching your neck back as far as you could, to get your face away from his.
“Open wide!! Come on! They wanna come inside!... Well, they want to come inside the other door.” his voice took on a darker growl, and you were suddenly reminded of the mess happening on your other end. It was enough to draw out another screaming wail, just wanting it to stop.
And that was enough time for Strade to let the worms fall from his fingers like a light snow. You began to spit and sputter, but he slapped a hand over your mouth, amber eyes boring into you.
“Chew.” he commanded. Bitter, Crunchy. They were alive. They were alive. They were crawling. They were everywhere. Crawling down your throat, crawling up your sinuses, coming out your nose, ears, your entrance.
They.
Were.
Everywhere.
You couldn’t help yourself anymore. You lurched your body back and forth, left and right, screaming like a wild animal. You didn’t want this anymore, you wanted to die.
“KILL ME.” You screamed. Trying to command a man who had no reason to listen to you. “JUST FUCKING KILL ME ALREADY.”
Strade silenced you with a few fingers in your mouth, pushing your head back.
“Hush, Schatzi. I’m almost done.” His fingers tasted like sweat, grease, and the worms. Something else to focus on. Something else to think about. His fingers, feeling the swirls of his finger prints under your tongue, the edge of his nails on your teeth. It was something that could ground you.
You knew your body was reacting to Strade’s ministrations. It had been for a while. A familiar pressure building, shudders running up your spine. But you couldn’t really feel it. You just had to keep focusing on his index and middle finger. You bit down.
He didn’t make any noise of pain, though you knew it must hurt. But you couldn’t let him take them away, take away the only thing keeping you away from what was currently going on. The rusty taste of blood helped, and you lapped it up without thinking.
And then you remembered what else had been down your throat, and you could no longer take it. Just as your body spasmed against Strade, as he forced you to a climax, it was finally too much.
The hot acid and bile rose in your stomach and spewed out of your throat, soaking your naked chest. The site of bits of the mealworms in your vomit only made you gag and continue to spew what felt like every ounce of liquid in your body out.
And you wanted too. With each new wave, it worked to wash away the last of the worms off you. You were forcing yourself to continue now, spitting and gagging. You just needed them off.
Just
Needed.
Them.
Off.
You must have passed out at some point, finally exhausted and overwhelmed. You couldn’t feel anything anymore, but were vaguely aware of Strade finishing inside of you, and pulling out. You felt a few slaps to your cheek but you couldn’t react. You just let yourself sink into welcoming darkness.
It wasn’t until warm water ran over your face did you awake, eyes flying open to stare at the bathroom ceiling. A familiar pair of ears flickered in your vision. Ren.
“Strade isn’t here.” were his first words. Something that made you relax, if only slightly. There wouldn’t be anymore today. You could only swallow the bile in your throat, choking on a sob as your gaze slid over to him. Ren looked concerned, but offered you a small comforting smile.
“He uh. Asked me to clean you up. There was a lot… But, uhm. I thought maybe, you’d like a nice bath! So when I got you all cleaned up I put you in here. What soap do you want? I have this nice vanilla, or I can dig out the fancy mango-”
“Bleach.” Your voice was hoarse, barely a whisper, but your demand made Ren react as if you had yelled it. “Bleach. Ammonia. Lye. Get it off me, Get it all off me.” You lifted yourself, beginning to scrabble to get under the sink, where you knew there was what you needed. Drain cleaner. Toilet cleaner. Anything. Anything strong enough to strip off your skin.
Ren though, was much stronger than he looked, and managed to wrestle you back into the tub.
“Please, Please, just relax.” he was begging, but he was keeping his voice soft. “Strades asleep… You don’t want to wake him up…”
You fell back at his name, staring down at your body. It felt so foreign to you. The sound of a drop of water as you began to cry again, and now you were sobbing into your hands. Doing your best to keep yourself quiet, as Ren continuously hushed you everytime you got too loud, trying to comfort you with a back rub.
A small comfort, which really felt so tiny, especially knowing that Strade could, and would, do this again.

Part 2 Part 3
A/N: Just a little collaboration between @mothandpidgeon and I, inspired by this picture from @pedrocentric and moth and I’s thots about sugar daddy Pedro, may you all enjoy xo
You got out of the Uber and went up the driveway. It was late and quiet. Instead of going around back to the guest house where you lived, you went to the front door. Water. Water would be amazing right now. Pedro wouldn’t mind if you helped yourself to a bottle from his fridge.
You let yourself into the house, first sliding out of your heels so you wouldn’t make noise. You were still a little tipsy and the house was dark. Your feet padded down the hall to the kitchen. You went into the fridge and cracked open a water bottle. You gulped it down, standing with the refrigerator door open, shoes in one hand, cool air prickling your skin.
A light came on and Pedro had appeared in the kitchen. You couldn’t tell if he’d been sleeping. He often woke up looking deliciously tousled which seemed incredibly unfair. He was wearing a pajama set unbuttoned almost half way down his tan chest and over that a handsome silk robe. His curls were a sexy mess of dark brown hair.
It’s late,” he said.
“I didn’t mean to wake you,” you said, wiping your mouth. You’d gotten a little over enthusiastic with the water.
“I thought you said you were studying,” he said, his brow furrowed. Did you sound drunk? Were your cheeks red?
“I was,” you said. You closed the refrigerator and leaned back against it. The cold metal felt good against your shoulder blades.
“It’s two in the morning,” he said. He sounded more exasperated than anything else.
“We went for drinks after,” you said.
“We?”
He had come across the kitchen to you.
“Me and the girls from class,” you smiled. You liked it when he got jealous.
“Mhm,” he said. He was looking over your outfit hungrily. He leaned an open palm on the refrigerator beside you. He was so tall that you had to look up at him.
“A few guys bought us drinks.”
His eyes turned dark. You knew how to push his buttons.
“I bet they all wanted to go home with you,” he purred.
You shrugged.
“I don’t like it when you stay out so late,” he said. His voice was husky and seemed to go straight between your thighs. He brushed your cheek with the back of his hand. “You need your beauty sleep, princesa.”
“I’m not tired,” you said. You only wanted one thing now and it wasn’t sleep.
“Well, it’s past your bed time,” he grinned. “Let’s go.”
You pouted at him stepping away from the refrigerator, “I bet the guy that bought us drinks wouldn’t make me sleep.” You bit back a smirk when you saw Pedro’s nostrils flare, you were definitely pushing the right buttons. “He was cute, tall, dark, handsome, like a younger version of you.”
Pedro let out a growl and pushed your back back into the refrigerator, your eyes widened in surprised. You hadn’t expected him to get so hands on so quick, “Oh and what would he do to you princesa instead?”
“Take me to his room and fuck me like I’ve never been fucked before,” you breathed out, your body was burning under his touch.
Pedro’s hand went around your neck and you let out a soft gasp as he tilts your head back. His mouth went to your ear, his nose brushing against the sensitive spot between your ear and neck, “Oh princesa, you’re going to regret teasing me.”
Your thighs clenched and you wanted nothing more than for him to pull up your skirt and take you. He moved his hand away and smirked seeing your chest move up and down, the desire clear on your face. He had gotten control again and now you were in trouble because he wasn’t going to be quick. “Suck,” he commands, and he places two fingers in your mouth.
You moan, wrapping your lips around his fingers. You look at him with those sweet innocent eyes knowing it drives him insane when its his cock and swirl your tongue around them. Your eyes never leave his as you move them in and out of your mouth. You watch his warm brown eyes turn black in desire. “I don’t share princesa, I guess I’ll have to remind you that,” he growls as he grinds his hard cock against you.
You knew he slept commando and the thin material of the pants against your own barely covering skirt had you whimpering, you core was screaming for more friction. You pushed your hips back up against his erection and Pedro grabbed your hip roughly, holding you down. “Uh-uh, you have some sucking up to do,” he tsked in your ear before pulling his fingers out, he pushed your skirt up and let out a choked breath when he saw you weren’t wearing panties.
He looked up at you eyes narrowed, “Where the hell are your panties?”
You smile up at him innocently, shrugging, “I took them off when I left the club. The lace was bothering me.”
Pedro’s jaw tensed and you felt his fingers graze your wet mound before pulling his hand away, “You’re so wet, such a shame that I’m not going to touch you.” He undid the belt of his robe, “You’ve been very bad today, going to the bar in this little outfit and letting shitty little boys buy you drinks. I bet you planned this didn’t you? Take your panties off because you wanted me to fuck you?”
Your head falls back against the refrigerator whining at his teasing touch. You needed him the way you needed oxygen in that moment. Your intentions had only been to tease you into him fucking you as soon as you got here if he was awake, you didn’t think he was going to end up playing with you like this. “I might have danced with that one guy too,” you say deciding to push him further, “Might have not, just like I may or may have wanted you to fuck me. Or maybe it was him I wanted to? I can’t remember too well.” You looked at him in feign thought.
Pedro glared at you hooking his finger under your chin, “Get on your knees. Now.” You gulped as you looked at his eyes, his dominance was there and you knew you couldn’t resist that tone even if you wanted. You got on your knees, the coldness of the tile floor contrasting the heat of your body, you looked up at him biting your lip, as your hands went to the waistband of his pajama pants. He gently caressed your cheek and you leaned into his touch, he knew in that moment that you were wrapped around his finger. There would be no more teasing him, no more being difficult and pushing his buttons, that little act was all he needed to know you were submitting to him completely. “Suck princesa, you’re mine and if you want me to fuck you, you’re going to be a good sugar baby and earn it,” his baritone voice orders.
You push down his pajama pants, his hard cock springs out and you lick your lips as you see the precum leaking from the top. You take his hard length into your hand, your other hand going to his hip to brace yourself. You smile up at his and flick your tongue over the head, licking the precum clean off of it. Pedro puts a hand in your hair and you hum appreciatively, you loved the way he taste, the perfect combination of sweet and salt, “You love tasting me don’t you baby, take it princesa. You know you love my cock in that pretty little mouth.”
“Always, yours all yours,” you moan as you take his cock in your mouth, he was too big for you to take completely but it never stopped you from trying. You heard him let out a hiss as your warm mouth covers his cock, feeling it hit the back of your throat as you take as much of him as you can in. You look up at him intently, how you loved to see the way his eyes closed when your mouth was around him. The soft moans he would let out as you bob your head up and down. You pulled your head back to just the tip sucking on it the way you knew drove him insane.
Pedro throws his head back the hand in your hair tightening, “Fuck princesa just like that, show me how much you deserve this cock.” You smile around the head of his cock before taking him back into your mouth. Pedro pulls on your hair guiding the way you bobbed up and down his cock, pushing himself down your throat a little more each time. He stops as he feels the warm muscles of your throat move against it, you gag and he releases his hold as you pull away, spit dribbling down your chin, eyes blown in lust. “You look so beautiful on your knees like that princesa, such a good girl, spit coming down your chin, I bet you’re soaked too aren’t you?”
You nod trying to catch your breath, your core was sensitive and it was taking everything in you to not grind against the floor for friction That’s how lost in lust he had you, you’d do anything for a release but you knew he would only drag out your release if you did. Your hand wraps around his thick length sliding up and down it as your swirl your tongue around the head taking him slowly back in. You moan around his cock, the sound vibrating down his length making him want to pull you away and take you right then and there. He loved how much you loved pleasing him, never had he found someone that enjoyed sucking him off the way you did, the way it would rile you up further. You keep your hand wrapped around his cock as you bob your head, increasing your speed, moving your hand in sync with your mouth to cover what you couldn’t.
Pedro’s hand in your hair tightens again, cursing under his breath, you knew he wasn’t going to last much longer and you whimper as your hand on his hip tightens, the pool between your legs was getting harder to ignore. He pulls on your hair, pulling your mouth off of him, you look up at him pouting. “I need you, now,” Pedro grits out as he pulls you back up. His mouth smashes into yours and you moan wrapping your arms around his neck, meeting his fevered kiss with just as much desire. He grabbed your hips bucking up against you. His tongue slips against yours asking for entrance, you whimper letting his tongue flick against yours.
Your tongues battle and you suck against it, gaining a moan out of him. He pulls back starting to kiss down your neck, sucking on the sensitive spot between your neck and clavicle. “Tell me what you want princesa,” Pedro breathes against your neck.
“I want you to fuck me,” you whine out breathlessly.
Pedro looks at you smugly pushing you against the counter, “Beg me for it baby, tell me how bad you want it.”
Your hands grip the counter as Pedro pushes your skirt up and bends you over it. He grabs his cock giving it a few strokes as he lines it up at your entrance. You suck in a breath, letting it out slowly as you try to push against it. “Fuck Pedro please! I want you to fuck me, I need your cock, please fuck my pussy with your cock,” you plead looking over your shoulder up at him.
Pedro smirks as he runs his cock up and down your wet folds, your grip tightening against the counter, small whimpers leaving your lips, “Pedro…please.”
“Good girl,” he whispers into your ears as he eases his cock inside of you. You gasp out as his thick length fills you, “Look at you taking my cock so good, princesa, you love having me inside you don’t you?”
“Y-yes, you fill me so good,” you whimper out as he pulls out before pushing back into you. Your head falls back against his chest, you found it hard to think as he rocked against you. Pedro was like a drug you could never get enough of, the way he felt pressed deep inside you, the way he’d murmur your name out each time you clenched around him.
He wrapped his hand around your neck, his other hand going down to your clit rubbing it. You cry out his name, feeling the familiar tightening in your stomach, you were so close and he knew it. He picked up his pace, “I bet that guy couldn’t fuck you like this. He wouldn’t have you completely falling apart, look at you, you’re so tight around my cock. Cum for me princesa.”
“Pedro fuck!” you cry out, your knees bucking underneath you as your orgasms rocks through your body, his hand around you neck moves and wraps around your waist. His attack on your clit doesn’t stop, wave after wave hitting you. You
Pedro holds you tightly against him as you tighten around him, “Fuck princesa, I’m going to cum, let me fill you up baby.”
You reach behind you pulling his lips against yours, “Please, I want you to.” You kiss him deeply as his pace starts faltering before you feel his thrusts stop and his mouth moves from lips to your neck. He moans out your name, his voice deep and gruff as he spills inside of you, filling you up. He hides his face in your shoulder, both of you breathing heavy. Pedro slips out of you pulling down your skirt. He turns you around kissing you softly.
You smile against his mouth, “So worth teasing you. Definitely better than any tacky frat boy.”
Pedro chuckles leaning his forehead against yours, “Never forget who makes these knees shake. Next time I won’t be so forgiving.”
He nips your neck and you giggle. “Pedro stopppp,” you whine as he sucks a mark, his thumbs rubbing circles on your hips.
“I’m simply marking you darling, so everyone knows you belong to me,” he says as he presses a kiss to the new mark on your shoulder, “Now let’s really get you to bed this time.”

Content/Warnings: fluff, minor car crash (no serious injuries), swearing, sexual harassment (specifically cat-calling from a stranger), mentions of eating a lot of food, implied allusion to sex (not specifically stated)
Word Count: 2.3k
A/N: this is my one-shot entry for @ellesgreenaway ‘s 1k follower celebration! congratulations! <3 i’ve had this fic in my drive for a while but i never got around to finishing it until now
Masterlist
The metro was down for scheduled repairs today. JJ offered to bring Spencer in but he politely declined. He figured he should drive his car at least every once and a while so it doesn’t just collect rust in his parking spot.
Leaving his apartment 15 minutes earlier than he normally would to account for his rather slow driving, Spencer cautiously reversed out of his space.
He sighed in relief that he had not hit the neighboring cars. Spencer began to pull out of the parking garage. Unfortunately, he was so relieved from his little victory that he forgot to check both ways when he drove out of the parking garage.
Spencer slammed on the brakes but it was too late. He hit a young woman jogging and knocked her to the ground. Luckily, his average speed was that of a snail so he hoped her injuries were not too bad.
Spencer put the car in park and got out, “Oh god, oh god, oh god. Are you okay, miss?”
“I think so,” you were on the ground, assessing your body for any damage.
“Can you stand?” Spencer extended his hand to help you up.
You carefully stood, wincing a little when you put pressure on your left ankle.
“Is there anyone I can call? Do you want me to drive you to the ER?” Spencer frantically asked.
Your eyes widened, “No!” you stated a little too loudly, “Um I mean no thank you. I should finish my run anyways. I have a 5k for Alzheimer’s research coming up and I need to run or else I don’t raise any money,” you politely waved and took off again, much slower this time.
Spencer cringed as he watched you limp slightly every time you stepped on your left ankle, knowing it was his fault you were in pain. He sighed and pulled out his phone.
“Hey JJ, have you left yet? I need a ride, I’ll explain in the car.”
-
“Pretty Boy, how was your drive in?” Derek asked as soon as Spencer stepped off the elevator with JJ.
“I got about 20 feet and then hit someone with my car and had to call JJ so not great,” he admitted.
“Boy Wonder, you did WHAT? Are they okay?” Penelope gasped.
“She insisted she was fine but then she was limping away. I offered her a ride but she didn’t seem too keen on getting in a car with me,” Spencer explained.
“I wonder why,” Emily chuckled.
-
So there Spencer was. In the park in his only pair of short athletic shorts and a hoodie.
He had asked Penelope to sign him up for the 5k as a way to sort of make it up to the woman he hit. Plus, obviously it was for a good cause that was near and dear to his heart because of his mother.
Spencer had to take a lot of water breaks, periodically stopping to walk for a bit.
In the distance, he saw you on a bench and he suddenly felt the energy again to continue running to you. As he approached, he saw you tightening an ankle brace around your left foot and to make matters worse, you had a wrist brace as well.
Spencer considered just leaving you alone but he felt the need to apologize.
“H-Hello,” he awkwardly sputtered.
“Oh, hi,” you replied.
“I am so so sorry. Please let me pay your medical bills and any other expenses that I caused,” Spencer apologized.
“Unless you meant to hit me then it’s fine,” you stood from the bench.
“I definitely didn’t and I wasn’t on my phone or anything like that. I just barely ever drive but the metro was down today,” Spencer explained.
“You don’t have to pay my medical bills. I’m friends with a nurse so she did this for free. However, I would allow you to sponsor me for the 5k,” you answered.
“Absolutely,” Spencer nodded, “And funny story, you inspired me to register as well. I got everyone in my office to sponsor me.”
“That’s so great! The money is certainly going to a good cause.”
Spencer saw you smile for the first time since he met you.
“I’ve never been much of an athlete though. I barely passed my fitness test for work,” Spencer admitted.
“What kind of job has a fitness test?” you asked.
“I work for the Behavioral Analysis Unit of the FBI,” Spencer stated.
“Oh shit, you’re a federal agent? Maybe I will sue you and make bank,” you grinned.
Spencer’s face reddened.
“It was just a joke. You can laugh, then that means the incident is in the past and no hard feelings,” you smiled, “I’m Y/N.”
“Spencer.”
“Well, Spencer, if you ever need a running buddy, I’m more than happy to come along seeing as we both are training for the same thing. But I do have to warn you, this brace is kind of a bitch so I’m a little slower than normal.”
“I can assure you that you will probably still be faster than me with the brace on so maybe it was a good thing for me that I hit you with my car so you won’t be miles ahead,” Spencer grinned.
You laughed wholeheartedly, “See, Spencer! I’m laughing about it so no hard feelings, all is forgiven.”
“I’m just finishing up for the day but I was planning on being here again on Wednesday at the same time if you want to meet at this bench,” you offered.
“Yeah, I can do that,” Spencer nodded.
“See you around, Spencer. Hopefully not in your car though,” you winked and waved.
-
“Oh god, you’ve fallen in love with the chick you almost killed,” Derek groaned.
“Not love...well, yet anyways. She’s so pretty and easy to talk to and isn’t mean to me after everything that has happened and her laugh is like honey,” Spencer smiled softly, recalling the sound in his mind.
“Okay, lover boy,” Penelope giggled, “Did you get her number?”
“No but we’re meeting for a run tomorrow. We actually met at the park when I was training,” Spencer said.
“So she’s seen you in those short shorts and agreed to another meeting? Maybe you do have a chance, kid, cause you really put it all out there,” Derek smirked.
“Speaking of, I actually need to get more of them,” Spencer sipped his coffee.
“Just go all the way and get spandex. Leave nothing to the imagination,” Derek chuckled as Spencer rolled his eyes.
-
“Jesus, I’m going to have to hit your right leg this time if I’m going to have any chance of keeping up with you,” Spencer huffed as he bent over his knees to catch his breath.
“Well good news is that was four miles so you definitely will be able to run a 5k because it’s only 3.1 miles,” you encouraged him.
“Technically, it’s 3.10686 miles but I see your point,” Spencer heaved.
“I know a really good smoothie place nearby. Come on, it’s on me,” you grabbed his hand.
Luckily, Spencer’s face was already red from exercising so you weren’t able to see the blush that formed on his cheeks.
“No, it’s definitely on me. I know you said we’re fine but I am forever going to be indebted to you because of the incident.”
“Spencer, really just forget about it,” you assured him.
“I can’t, I have an eidetic memory,” he grinned.
“Ah, I see. Fine, you buy me one smoothie but then we’re even,” you conceded.
You were walking down the street to the cafe when you heard a whistle come from one of the cars driving by.
“Damn, your ass is looking sexy in those leggings,” a man hollered from his passing truck.
You flipped him off and tried to pull your shirt down as much as possible, crossing your arms tightly around your front.
Spencer unzipped his hoodie and extended it towards you, “Sorry, it’s a little sweaty but if you want to wear it, you can.”
You smiled softly and accepted the sweatshirt, feeling more comfortable now.
“I’ve got his license plate number memorized and I intend to file a police report. Unfortunately, reports like these usually don’t go very far but I’ll keep pushing it through. I’ll also call the company that was printed on the side of the truck and ask to speak to his supervisor,” Spencer spoke softly after a few minutes.
“Thanks, Spencer,” you leaned your head on his shoulder and sighed.
“You don’t have to thank me for that. I’m just doing what’s right. He had no right to make comments about your body,” Spencer said, wrapping a gentle arm around your upper waist.
-
“Welcome to Y/N’s carbo-loading extravaganza!” you opened the door of your apartment to let Spencer in.
“I brought dessert as requested,” Spencer held up a chocolate cake.
“I like how you think, Spencer. Dinner’s all ready,” you smiled.
“Spaghetti, meatballs, and crispy buttery garlic bread,” you pulled the bread out of the oven.
“Looks absolutely delicious,” he complimented.
“Eating carbohydrates before a race boosts the glycogen storage in your muscles allowing you to work out longer,” Spencer informed you.
“Interesting, I never knew the science behind it but I’m never going to complain about eating tons of pasta and bread,” you twirled some pasta on to your fork.
Halfway through the meal, Spencer accidentally got a sauce stain on his pale pink shirt.
“Oh no,” you said as he tried to dab it away.
“That needs to soak right away. I don’t want any casualties at the carbo-loading extravaganza. Give it to me to scrub and I’ll get you another shirt.”
Spencer unbuttoned his shirt and peeled it off. You gulped at the sight of him shirtless, grabbing the shirt and heading to your bathroom sink to scrub it with laundry detergent.
“You can just grab any t-shirt from my room that you think will fit,” you called out to him.
Spencer settled on a light gray shirt with a golden retriever on the front.
“Okay, the stain is out! It’s just soaking now-“ you immediately stopped talking as soon as you saw the shirt Spencer was wearing.
He noticed your eyes were beginning to glisten with tears, “I’m so sorry. I can pick a different shirt,” Spencer was already beginning to pull it over the top of his head.
“No it’s fine, Spencer. That’s just my grandma’s t-shirt. I forgot I even had it.”
“I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to upset you,” he spoke guiltily.
“You didn’t know, besides it looks good on you anyways,” you smiled, “My grandma is the whole reason I’m running the 5k.”
“My mom has Alzheimer’s too so I understand that it’s extremely hard to watch a loved one go through that,” Spencer pulled you in for a hug.
You cried into his chest as he rubbed soothing circles on your back.
After Spencer hadn’t heard any sniffles in a while, he whispered, “Do you have any tea I can make you?”
You nodded and Spencer guided you to the couch, wrapping you in a blanket before turning the kettle on.
-
Spencer answered the cheerful knocking at his front door early in the morning.
“Race day! Are you ready?” you exclaimed.
“Ready as I’ll ever be, I guess,” Spencer smiled.
“I promise we are sticking together the whole time because it doesn’t matter how long it takes us as long as we finish,” you held up your pinky.
“Together,” Spencer affirmed, locking his pinky with yours.
The starting line in the park was only a short distance away from Spencer’s apartment so you and Spencer decided to walk there as a little warm-up.
You and Spencer were doing quad stretches when you saw his eyes wander to something behind you and then widen. His face immediately reddening.
“What?” you asked, turning around to see a group of people with a sign that read ‘Go Spencer and his girlfriend!’
“I’m so sorry, I didn’t expect them to do that,” Spencer stammered.
The poor boy was so flustered so you decided to take it easy on him.
“I don’t mind,” you shrugged with a slight smile.
“You don’t?” Spencer clarified, “I’m not very good with words or flirting in general but I would like to see you again after the race is over. Maybe I could take you out to dinner?”
“Yes but my only condition is...I’m driving,” you smirked.
“Oh, you’ll pay for that,” Spencer grinned.
An air horn sounded, signaling the start of the race.
“I think you’re going to have to catch me first, Dr. Reid,” you giggled as you sprinted ahead.
-
“It’s in sight, Spencer! We can do this!” you pointed to the finish line in the distance.
“Y/N, you’re going to have to carry me. I can’t,” Spencer heaved.
“If you finish this race, I will…” you cupped your hand to his ear and whispered something.
Spencer immediately perked up and started running again.
“Hey, wait up!” you laughed.
You and Spencer crossed the finish line at the same time. Spencer’s legs immediately gave out which caused you to fall too, collapsing on top of him.
“I know I’m really sweaty and gross right now but can I please kiss you?” Spencer whispered.
Your lips were pressed on his as soon as he finished his sentence. You honestly didn’t know how long you had been kissing for but you didn’t look up until you heard one of the race officials shout, “Hey lovebirds! That’s very sweet but other people are trying to cross the finish line.”
“Sorry!” you and Spencer apologized, scrambling to your feet.
“Not really,” Spencer whispered to you and you jabbed him in the side with your elbow playfully, stifling a laugh.
what slightly inspired this fic is one time @samuel-de-champagne-problems commented on one of my posts “i could never stay mad at spencer” and then i thought to myself “same. i couldn’t stay mad at him even if he hit me with his car” and now here we are... 🚙

to make the meaning come through
oh yeah writing exists
Word count: 2,668
Ao3 Link
Warnings: None? Mild bewitchment? This is pure fluff and gayness and not much else.
Curled up against a couch pillow, Logan was struck with the feeling that something was wrong.
It was the feeling of walking into your room and finding your belongings slightly off-kilter. Like someone came in, rummaged around, and left after deciding the mismatched stacks were close enough to the original thing. The back of Logan's neck prickled.
Something was off.
The borrower shook his head. Superstition was an unproductive venture created to ward against bored witches and the occasional fae. He hadn’t felt the need to listen to his instincts for a while, even if this wasn’t the familiar jolt of fear or need to hide coursing through his veins.
Besides, the only dangerous thing around here was Roman.
Roman, who owned the shop of Logan’s previous residence, and who’s first reaction to finding a borrower was to flirt with him. Roman, whom Logan began bantering with against his better judgement, and who he found himself growing fond of. Roman, the strange, infuriating, intoxicating human that Logan currently lived with.
Roman, who, judging by the creak of their cottage door, had just arrived home.
“Hello, my sweetest honeybee! It’s so wonderful to see you again, my love!” A boisterous voice boomed out.
Roman must’ve had a good day at work. Certainly nothing to be worried about. The borrower allowed a small smile to slip onto his face.
“It’s wonderful to see you as well, my prince,” Logan said.
Or at least, he tried to say, because before he could finish, a wall of flesh scooped him up and away from solid ground.
Logan blinked.
Confusion struck like a dull cord when Roman’s chest filled his vision. When was the last time he’d been manhandled without permission? When was the last time Roman had done so? Despite being one of the loudest humans Logan had ever met, he the first to ever listen to him, and respected his boundaries like a code of honor.
Suddenly, horror filled Logan when a warm, soft surface began rubbing against him, and with a start, he realized the human was nuzzling him.
Logan squirmed, only managing to free an arm before pressure enveloped him and the nuzzling continued. He gave one of Roman’s fingers a pat before asking, voice strained, “What’re you—doing there, ah, Roman?”
The human brought the borrower up to his face, mouth fluttering down into a pout. Logan froze.
Something was wrong.
Maybe it was the way Roman was cupping him, holding Logan like he was the most valuable treasure one could ever lay eyes on. Maybe it was the way Logan found himself blinded by Roman’s smile, or the way eyes were filled with so, so much love.
Or maybe it was how Roman purred, voice honey-slick and twice as sweet, “Can’t I show my undying love for my spectacular, talented, breathtaking sugar pea?”
Oh, God.
Logan gave Roman’s finger a hesitant squeeze. The human brightened further, and gave the borrower a gentle squeeze in return. Logan finally stuttered out, “Roman, are you—are you alright? Is something wrong? Why are you doing all...this?”
Roman paused, dopey look still on his face, before he cooed, “The only thing that’s wrong is how gosh-darn adorable my boyfriend is.”
Logan didn’t have time to protest before a massive finger booped him on the nose. He pushed it away only for another one, Roman’s thumb, to start petting his hair.
Logan swallowed. Were Roman’s hands always this warm or was it just him?
“Did something happen at work today, uh, darling?” Logan asked, trying and failing to ignore the gentle caressing. He wasn’t sure if his boyfriend would even stop if he asked. “Did something change? Are you okay?”
Logan looked up to see Roman doing his best impression of a puddle. “The only thing that changed was when I met you, my galaxy.”
“N—no, I mean like—” Logan resisted the urge to groan. “You’re not usually this...affectionate.”
“What do you mean, love? Why wouldn’t I be this loving towards my smart, stunning sweetheart? You light up my world, sunshine, you’re—you’re—”
Roman sniffed. What was most likely his partner’s other thumb brushed up against Logan’s side. “I—I just—”
Logan realized with a shock of horror that Roman was crying. Over how much he loved the borrower. Logan’s eyes widened.
This was worse than he thought.
“Y—you’re so handsome and talented, lovebug,” Roman blubbered. Logan tried, foolishly, to shy away. His boyfriend’s fingers curled around him. The borrower gave them a reassuring pat. “You do—you do so much. You're so good. You’re so—so good.”
Roman’s inane—and, well, utterly touching—whimpering faded to white noise as Logan noticed the human’s eyes.
His glowing, spiraling, wrong eyes.
“Roman!” Logan blurted as realization struck, both of the situation and of the fact that Roman was about to continue nuzzling him. He repressed a shudder. “Roman. Could you—could you do me a favor?”
Roman paused, before he whispered, voice almost as soft as the look in his eyes, “Anything for you, my darling.”
Logan glanced away at the intensity of Roman’s gaze, knowing if he stared too long into the swirling abyss, he’d never look away again.
“Could you get me one of the magic books from the shelf?” he asked. “The one with the rose on it?”
Roman made a noise in the back of his throat. “But—but that would mean setting you down! Seeing you go! Not being with you!”
“It’ll just be for a moment. Please, Roman.”
Roman bit his lip, brow furrowing in way that it did when the human was lost in thought. Suddenly, the human’s eyes brightened, and with a gush of air the borrower found himself with a side view of his boyfriend’s face.
“There!” Logan could feel Roman’s voice, vibrating up his legs and through his entire body. Set on a shoulder, then. Better than not moving at all. “Now we can still be together!”
Logan sighed, gripping onto Roman’s shirt, and they began to move.
After grabbing A Scholar’s Guide to Solutions and Spells, Roman made his way over to the table and sat down. Logan dangled his legs over his partner’s shoulder, about to slide off, only to be met with a hand hovering below him. Not sure how Roman would react if he didn’t take it, Logan scooted himself into the awaiting palm.
The borrower braced himself for the familiar drop of his stomach, but it didn’t come. The hand was still moving, but slowly, painfully so. Not even the lifts Logan had built for himself around the house operated at the snail’s pace Roman’s hand did. Logan sighed, knowing it would be too quiet for the human to hear.
After the mental equivalent of half a century, they landed. Logan crawled off of his partner’s palm, giving an awkward smile to the human above. Roman beamed back.
Suddenly, a warm, fleshy material enveloped Logan from behind. Roman’s gaze was soft, and the borrower realized he was cupping him, cherishing him one would like a precious jewel. Roman leaned down to lay his head in the crook of his arm, inches away from his treasure.
“Roman.” Logan shifted against the warm weight around his back. “I can’t exactly read with you like...this.”
“Oh! I’m sorry, darling! Let me just—” Roman’s hand moved to rub the back of his neck. He looked between the tome and Logan, and frowned. “Do you need any help with the book, Lobear? It’s pretty big!”
“I’ll be fine, please don’t worry.” The book was, in fact, big, almost too big for a borrower such as himself to use. Fortunately, Logan was used to operating in a world not built for him. He took a breath, and began the process of heaving pages almost twice the size of his body up and over his head. Immediately a chorus of ‘You’re so strong, my love!’ and ‘Look at you go!’s chimed out behind him.
Things could be worse. At least Roman wasn’t snuggling him. Yet.
As Logan arrived at the section on persuasion magic, he decided to break Roman’s stream of gushing. “What did you do at work today, Roman?”
The human paused. His eyelids drooped. A grin slid onto his face. “Think about you, my light, my love, my—”
“Aside from that.” Logan interrupted, before dropping the page he’d been tugging. “Did you meet anyone strange? Ingest anything odd?”
“Well...” Roman trailed off. “We did receive a shipment of rather funny potions this morning. They were all red and swirly, and they smelled like roses. Probably made from them, too.”
Logan perked up. “Did you happen to get any on you?”
“One of the bottles was leaking so I threw it out. Probably wasn’t the best idea but—”
“How did you feel afterwards? Strange? Elated?”
“I...It was like I was hit with a tidal wave. I remember it now. I could hardly think of anything but you.” Logan heard a rustle of movement behind him. When he turned to look, Roman was leaning forward on his elbows, eyebrow raised. “Darling, what is all this about? You’re breathtaking. You know that.”
Logan beckoned him forward. Roman obeyed, leaning closer until his nose brushed up against Logan’s chest. His eyes darted past the borrower’s shoulder, keying in on the page he stood on.
Roman paused.
After a beat, he laughed, stilted and awkward. “Nothing’s wrong, is there? Is there something wrong with me, Logan?”
Logan patted his nose, before making a shooing gesture towards his partner. The human complied, moving his head off the page. “Nothing serious, I hope. The logical assumption I can make is that the potion you interacted with is responsible for your new...behavior.”
Roman tilted his head. “Behavior?”
Logan glanced back. Even through the confusion, a hint of that dopey, lovestruck look painted his partner’s face. Roman was looking at him as if Logan were worth more than all the gold in the world could buy, as if Roman was completely, utterly his.
Logan willed his knees not to go weak.
He turned back to the book, focusing on dragging another page across its surface. A grin slid on his face as the answer to this strange afternoon presented itself.
“Yes; behavior. And I think,” He beckoned Roman forward. “This may have had a part in that.”
Roman peered over the borrower’s shoulder, though the action was probably unnecessary considering said shoulder was smaller than his own eye. Logan felt the human swallow behind him. “A love potion?”
Logan shook his head. “The concoction acts more to induce an autosuggestion state, amplifying the bearer’s pre-existing inclinations in accordance to the intensity of the sample. Though the enchantment is most conventionally used for romantic or...other such feelings, it can be used to increase any emotion depending on tweaks made to...”
Roman blinked, uncomprehending.
Logan sighed, before muttering, “Yes. It’s a love potion.”
Roman’s eyes widened. He brought his hand up to his mouth. “I suppose I have been feeling a little...buzzed, today. Almost fluttery. I—I thought that was just my love for you.”
“In a sense, it was. It’s most likely a side effect of the hex, and should wear off when the spell does.”
Roman fell silent, processing. When Logan turned to look at him, he was deflated, solemn, like a puppet with its strings cut. When his partner he caught Logan’s eye, he choked. “Do I not love you enough normally?”
Oh.
Logan shook his head, and the first genuine smile of the afternoon slipped onto his face.
“On the contrary, my prince,” he began. “While I understand that sometimes we can, ah, figuratively butt heads, I know you love me more than anything else. You care for me, let me stay here don’t mind my rituals. You listen to me, and don’t expect me to treat you more, or demand anything because of your size. More than that, there’s something I feel around you. Even when we’re not together my thoughts are often occupied by you...and I know you feel the same way, too.”
By the end of it, Logan had rested his forehead against the bridge of Roman’s nose, gazing into his eyes the best he could. Roman sniffed, unshed tears threatening to spill. The borrower sighed as a warm weight settled behind him. Hexed or not, this was still his stupid, wonderful Roman. Logan smiled.
And was immediately caught off-guard as Roman pulled him forward and kissed him.
Oh.
A curious thing it was that Logan, a borrower of eloquence and articulation, found few words to describe the sensation of Roman’s lips covering his body.
Warm, he thought as found himself melting against the plush surface. Soft, lingered in his mind as he buried his face into the kiss. Heaven, was all the came at the intoxicating sensations, the scent of cherries Roman ate for lunch wafting over him, the taste of the rose lip product he liked to use overwhelming. Logan shivered as a thumb ran down his back. Liquified as wave of euphoria coursed through his veins. Felt the last coherent thoughts he had shrivel up at Roman’s pure, radiant love.
Finally, the rational part of Logan’s brain sighed—too soon, the instinctive part screamed—the couple parted.
Logan collapsed against Roman’s hand, face scorching.
Roman sniffed. Logan hardly heard what he said next over the pounding of his heart. “That was really, really sweet, Honey-Pie. I do love you, to the—the moon and back.” He paused to wipe his eyes. “Thank you, Logan—Logan?”
If there was anything that would snap Logan out of his gay panic, it was a gentle finger almost the length of his body maneuvering his head up. He stared, wide-eyed, into Roman’s beautiful, beautiful swirling gaze.
Logan, a borrower of eloquence and articulation, squeaked.
“Was that too much, my love?” Roman asked, a concern and a hint of amusement in his voice.
Logan’s tongue was too busy feeling like it was about to fall out of his mouth to form words. He nodded.
Roman’s expression softened. He gave Logan a gentle squeeze. “I’ll give you a moment, starshine.”
With a finale ruffle of his boyfriend’s hair—and a completely un-high pitched, non-existent yelp—Roman departed, leaving Logan on the table, alone.
The borrower took a deep breath, before collapsing to his knees and burying his face in his hands.
He exhaled. Took another breath and tried to ignore the way it tasted like flowers. Released that one with a shudder and a whimper.
In.
And out.
Breathe. Don’t think about all-consuming warmth or the smell of cherries the strangest, softest embrace or Roman—
After a few moments of being the epitome of the verb flustered, Logan hauled himself up and walked back over to the book, skimming the tome for any information he missed while being...distracted. He sighed, relieved, when he found the section on effect length.
The good news was the potion wasn’t permanent, and would, at most, wear off in the next 16 hours.
The bad news was that based on when Roman had encountered the solution, it would likely last for the rest of the day.
Logan glanced up at the sound at heavy footsteps, eyes meeting only a torso and hips. He craned his head back to find Roman looming over the table, massive shadow enveloping the borrower. In one hand, a finger was looped around an ornate teacup. In the other, the human delicately pinched Logan’s favorite mug, willing his hands not to squeeze too hard or too light.
Noticing his presence, Roman took a seat across from Logan. The shadow vanished, and Logan found a cup of sweet-smelling liquid in front of him.
“I made blackberry and pomegranate,” Roman said, voice low as not to damage his boyfriend's hearing. Logan was struck with how brightly Roman’s eyes shone, full of passion and light and love. “Your favorite.”
Oh, who was he kidding, Logan had been enchanted since day one.

Traces of Two Pasts: Episode Tifa - pgs 40-52
Disclaimer: Also, I started this for fun so that my friends who don't have access can read it. I'm just another fan like you. With that said, I do try to be as faithful to the original source material as possible, and for those of you who can read Japanese, please support the author by buying his book.
Not everyone agreed with Chief Zonder's decision. The elderly—a major force in the village—began to make noise. They seemed to take a liking to Zangan's longevity exercises, and regretted not being able to memorize what was taught to them. They wanted someone to check if their poses were correct, and wished to learn the remaining exercises he was supposed to have taught them.
The village chief paid a visit at dinnertime.
"Hey, Tifa..." he said with a sullen expression. "Will you teach the old folks how to do Zangan's exercises properly?"
"Why Tifa?" her father asked. She just knew he would ask.
"Because Zangan named her. Told me that if we ever needed someone to mentor us, Tifa would be qualified. Said that she had the most controlled form* out of everyone who gathered there that day.
Kata, which means “form” in Japanese, is the term used to describe specific sequences of motion that are used to practice technique and execution in martial arts
It pleased her knowing that someone spoke of her like that when not in her presence, but it also caused her to be slightly embarrassed.
"Zonder, don't get my family involved."
"Aw, c'mon! I'm already in big trouble as it is. The old folks just won't let it go!"
"Hmph!" Brian Lockhart snorted. He enjoyed seeing the village chief squirm. She couldn't tell whether or not they actually got along with each other.
"Tifa, what do you think?"
"I'd just be teaching the elderly people those exercises, right? If that's all there is, then I'd like to try."
"Tifa..." her father began, but he swallowed back his complaint. He knew that it wasn't good for her to have too much time on her hands. "Well, if you're gonna do it, then do it right."
While preparing breakfast, Tifa heard a knock at the door, and opened to a woman’s face she barely recognized. It was an elderly woman called "Mon Amie" who was an aunt of sorts to Chief Zonder. Her hair was pulled back into a bun so tight that it looked like her eyes were being pulled straight up!
"Good morning to you. It's been a long time, Tifa. I heard that Zonder told you all about it. How about 2 gil per hour?"
"Sorry?" She had not heard about any renumeration.
"Well, you are thirteen now. Not a little girl anymore, so that doesn't cut it for you, eh? Alright then, how about 4 gil?"
"No, I don't want any money."
"That won't do. We are taking this very seriously, and you will be properly paid for your work."
No matter how much Zangan trusted her, would she really be up to the task? But, being able to earn her own money sounded very appealing, as if a whole new world had opened up to her.
Mon Amie took Tifa's silence as her wanting to bargain for higher wages.
"6 gil."
"Alright. 6 gil it is then."
"Brian never did leave the village. He wanted to keep Thea all to himself." Mon Amie suddenly brought up her parents during their exercise routine at the public square.
"Really?" said Tifa, adjusting Mon Amie's arm posture. She needed to get her to straighten her back and push out her chest a bit more for the desired result.
"She was quite the popular one, that child."
It wasn’t very pleasant hearing her mother being called "that child", yet Tifa encouraged her. Listening to the elderly tell old stories was a part of her job. The responsibility she felt from receiving wages tempered her patience.
"You should leave the village," said Mon Amie suddenly. "Doesn't it sound like fun going around to different places with Master Zangan?"
"It sure does."
"Alright, you don't have to play along with me. No need for you to learn things like that. Just think about it carefully, okay? Something needs to change for women here in Nibelheim."
Tifa silently nodded as she propped up Mon Amie's arm.
"There weren't any women around in my day who held this kind of thinking. But that Strife girl”—she was speaking of Cloud's mother—"tried to leave. Not sure if it's because she hated it here, or if she dreamed of going to the big city."
Mon Amie abruptly altered her pose, ruining her base form.
"To the traditional Nibelheim women, she seemed pretty unconventional. We all refused to accept her ways, but secretly felt the same. Even though we scolded her, deep down inside we were cheering her on. We even felt jealous of her for carving out her own path. Perhaps she changed something in us, little by little.”
Tifa lifted up Mon Amie's knee. "Up high like this. Thank you."
She supported Mon Amie as the woman’s body rocked back and forth.
"But Claudia remained in the village, didn't she?" said Tifa.
"Well, that’s because she fell in love. You see, a man traveled here. Claudia was helping out at the inn at the time. She must have been taken in by the outside air he brought with him. And he was a pretty fellow. I’m sure you see it when you look at Cloud. That boy got the best of both his parents!”
“Right…”
“But, just like the wind, he just couldn’t keep still. Not sure if Cloud learned how to walk yet, but around that time he told her he would go to the mountains, but never came back. They found his belongings though. His body probably got eaten by monsters. You were lucky you didn’t meet the same fate.”
Tifa braced herself. Was she going to bring up that incident?
“Cloud egging you on to climb Mt. Nibel… Maybe that was in his blood.”
Mon Amie’s body began to sway. Tifa had stopped holding onto her causing her to lose her balance. She couldn’t regain her footing in time, and fell flat down on her backside.
“Alright then," said Tifa. "Now let’s use the opposite leg. Please lift up your knee.”
Tifa held out a helping hand to her, but Mon Amie refused and got up on her own.
“Quite strict for a pretty face.”
“That’s because I get paid 6 gil to be.”
Before long, she became more attentive. She noticed Mon Amie lifting up her other knee, but it was at the wrong height again. While Tifa helped her to adjust, Mon Amie said, “You really don’t remember anything? You know, about that accident you got into?”
She was eight years old when she got into that accident on Mt. Nibel. Cloud was with her. The villagers chose to believe the story based on Emilio and the others’ testimonies, and nothing else could be said about it. Tifa really couldn't remember what happened.
"No, unfortunately not..."
Whether the elderly came to her for exercising or just to chat, it was tougher than she had imagined. Her father laughed at her and said he wouldn't have anything to do with them, even for 100 gil.
They never listened and were set in their ways, even the ones who kept away and smiled modestly at her. They just had a different view on things, and sulked if nobody paid them attention.
The topics they discussed also surprised Tifa, and sometimes hurt her too. She disliked whenever they brought up how her body looked so grown. There would be someone who sensed her discomfort or resentment, and would try to change the subject, but then it would turn into whom she should be with and things of that nature.
So, all things considered, Tifa preferred hearing them going on about herself rather than her father’s failed romances, or whom her mother used to hang out with before she got married to him. To the elderly townsfolk, her father and others his age were still “the village youth”.
After her day finished and she was about to go to sleep, she thought to herself that maybe there would be a time when she would be the one telling someone else about what happened today, or about some news she heard from another person. Telling the same stories over and over again, everyday just like the next, until she, herself, became just a relic of an era in village history.
※
“They confused me at first, but I got used to being around them, and then it wasn’t so bad anymore. That feeling of wanting someone to talk to—Everyone has that,” explained Tifa.
“So that’s where you learned to entertain guests? From spending your time talking to old folks?” asked Barret.
“Possibly. Maybe that did me good. More and more of the elderly signed up, and they started calling their morning gatherings the ‘Calisthenics Club’.”
“It’s like that at Seventh Heaven too,” said Barret with some intensity.
Aerith urged him to talk.
“It used to be just a small shop owned by this one gramps, but when Tifa started working there, the business picked up. Men crowded the place. Know what I mean, Red?”
“What I’m more interested in is what happened to Zangan afterward? I can sort of imagine based on your fighting style, Tifa...” said Red XIII.
“You’re right. There was a little more that happened before I got to where I'm at.”
※
A month passed after the start of the Calisthenics Club. All morning Tifa would teach the exercises and set aside time for her reading and arithmetic. The afternoon she'd go to the mountains and work hard towards building up her strength and stamina, and then would return home before sunset so her father wouldn’t worry. At night she would examine Zangan's writings and practice her form, reviewing the materials over and over again so as to not overlook anything.
One day, she received a letter from Emilio. He wrote about the fast-paced lifestyle in the big city, and told her about everything he found perplexing: arguments he had had with people, things he ate, the social inequality, and their differences in moral values.
“But whenever I get discouraged, it’s you I think about, Tifa, and then I imagine that day when I’ll come and get you. I'll write to you sometimes and teach you about the city, so you won't be so confused when that time comes.”
Who do you think you are? That's how she honestly felt reading the letter.
Zangan appeared, acting as if nothing had happened. He knocked on the door just in time to greet her father and asked for his permission to call Tifa out, and then led her to the river where they first met.
“Master Zangan, please let me be your student. I want to be stronger.”
“That’s exactly the answer I was looking for, but what’s the matter, Tifa? I sense your impatience. Why are you in such a hurry?”
“That’s not it!” she replied, but felt self-conscious. “No… It’s because I got that letter from my friend.”
“What kind of letter?”
“I think it’s because I don’t want to lose. I don’t want to lose to anyone who left the village.”
“Hmm. My hand-to-hand combat techniques are not meant to be used to make you feel superior to others.”
“I know.”
“No, you don’t. But the answer to that can only be found through diligent study. All right. I will acknowledge you if you pass my test.”
“Test?”
“Show me everything you’ve learned from Volume 1. You’ve been practicing, haven’t you?”
“Yes.”
Tifa performed a sequence of forms from the physical training method.
“One more time, from the beginning.”
“Okay.”
This time Zangan interrupted with instructions.
"Check the book to see the direction your palms should be facing."
Tifa crouched down over the book and flipped through the pages. The form was wrong from the very start. Should have been above not below.
“I was wrong.”
“Try again.”
When she extended both hands and slightly shifted the direction of her palms, she felt a different set of muscles tingling.
“Everything from the Book of Secrets must be obeyed. Don’t try to interpret it another way or decide that your way is better. While disciplining your body, you must learn to be faithful to your decisions. If I take you in as my student, you will become stronger. So, you must cultivate your mind to control that power. The greater and stronger the power to handle, the greater the responsibility of its owner. Do you understand?”
“Yes.”
The second time around, Zangan pointed out any minor mistakes she made. Each time she would have to go back and confirm with the Book of Secrets before advancing, which made things take twice as long. Fatigue built up in her arms and legs.
“Alright, now relax and close your eyes. Focus your attention and check the condition of your body. Does it hurt anywhere?”
“My upper back… I wouldn’t say it hurts but it feels like it’s burning...”
She slipped her right hand underneath her left armpit until it touched the lower part of her shoulder blade. Digging her fingers into it felt good.
“Hmph!” Zangan gave a satisfying nod. “That’s your shoulder blade. What you’re pressing into is the trapezius muscle. Surrounding it is your deltoid, infraspinatus, psoas minor and other muscles. The second volume will teach you how to train each one of those muscles on your back,” he said, while holding out a booklet to her. It was Volume 2.
“If you want to live your life with pride then pay close attention to your back. Squeeze your shoulder blades together, chest out. Walking through life with a beautiful posture is also part of your training.”
“Got it.”
“Let’s get started. Well then, onto Volume 2, No. 2-1-1, scapular push-ups.”
Zangan immediately prostrated himself on the ground, and lowered his chest. Tifa hastened to follow his example.
“All you're doing is supporting your whole body with your arms. Concentrate on your shoulder blades. Rotate them outwards—protract, retract, protract.”
It was her first time experiencing those movements. How was she supposed to move to protract her shoulder blades? She couldn’t picture it in her mind. Glancing over at Zangan she noticed he was rotating his shoulders outward, something her cat, Maru, often did.
“You look like a cat,” she said.
“Right. There’s a lot we can learn from cats.”
She focused her attention on her scapula, going up and down, until the repetition of movements were drilled into her body. Zangan rose and watched over Tifa for some time before clearing his throat.
“Good!”
The movements were subtle but still made her perspire.
“That’s because the muscles across your back are wider. Moving them increases the blood flow and raises your temperature, so that’s why you’re working up a sweat.”
After completing Volume 2, Tifa was sweating profusely. She felt unthinkable pain throughout her whole back.
“Alright, any questions? If you do, now’s your chance.”
She wanted to say, yes, but nothing came to mind at the moment.
“If not, then we’ll move onto Volume 3.”
“Huh?” she couldn’t help but shout. Her whole body was screaming in pain. Zangan ignored her and continued.
“Volume 3 is for chest and abs. We’re going to train your front body. The pectoralis major muscle is roughly divided into three parts: upper, middle and lower. There are several different ways to effectively train it, but I’ll teach you the basic concepts.”
“Alright…”
“At your age, your overall motor skills are complete, and in that regard, you excel. You haven’t had any special training, have you? If so, then you must have been born with this. Treasure it.”
“I will.”
She felt energy pour into her body. Perhaps listening to Zangan talk with a relaxed mind helped her to recover from fatigue.
“After a while, we’ll concentrate on building your muscles. But you will not be using any equipment except your body. We won’t be using barbells or dumbbells until you’re much older. Besides, our Zangan-ryu hardly finds them necessary. That is because I prescribe individual fighting styles that suit each of my students. You don’t need arms built like logs or a bulky chest. What you need is to build up a fighting style that will utilize those reflexes, that body, and your speed. Well, what do you want to do? Shall we call it a day?”
“No. Please go on.”
She didn’t want to disappoint the first person who had managed to earn her respect.
“Yes, that’s the spirit! Alright. But we’ll stop here for today. Let’s call this current level of fatigue your limit. Keep it in mind. You have a long way before you can try to challenge that limit to surpass it. Continuity is more important now than ever.”
On their way back, a realization came over Tifa regarding Zangan’s test. It didn't annoy her. If her father tried to make her work like that she’d probably stop talking to him for three days in a row. With those thoughts in mind, she walked her teacher back to the inn.
“Say hello to your father for me.”
As she stood in front of her house she could smell the scent of spices in the air. Spices that her mother liked to use in her best recipe. It was her father’s favorite dish, but since Tifa didn’t really like it, it was hardly ever served at the dining table.
She opened the door and said, “I’m home.”
“Welcome back.” Her father, dressed in an apron, peeked out at her from the kitchen.
“This smell… Huh? Is it mom’s?”
“I was really craving it... Oh, but I made something else for you.”
She was filled with remorse. She didn’t like the way he looked or the tone of voice he used when trying to gauge her mood, but it was all her fault for making it that way.

They'd been arguing again. About something completely innocuous, and somehow it had morphed into a shouting match about the way Tim had looked at some woman at Pandora's, and the way that Lucy had batted her eyelashes at some guy at work.
What both failed to realize is that neither of those things had actually happened.
"What did you just say?" Lucy chokes out.
Tim grinds his teeth, causing the muscles of his jaw to tighten and release. "You heard what I said," he replies, his voice pitched low to something dangerous. Almost predatory.
Lucy's lips purse, and she's angry. She's so fucking angry, because she wants him too and he couldn't have just said something before now? Never mind that she could have said something. "What did you just fucking say?" She hisses.
And then she's pressed against the sturdy wood of Tim's office door, their lips mashed together in a punishing kiss that's more teeth than finesse, but Lucy moans because it's so good. Her hands grasp on to him, clawing at him, because she can't get close enough, never close enough. She fists her hands into his hair and yanks, pleased as punch at the deep groan that rumbles in his chest. They devour each other, hips slotting together, hands grasping at Hugo Boss and wrinkling the material, biting and tugging at lips. It's animal, it's desperate, and Lucy doesn't want it to stop.
But Tim freezes, as though he suddenly realized what was happening. He's back across the room, behind his desk, in a flash, swiping his fingers at his lips as if to either chase the taste of her or erase it.
Lucy is left reeling, relying on the door to keep her upright.
"Shit..." Tim hisses, raking his palm across his face.
Lucy's still trying to catch her breath, but she's angry all over again. "Why the hell did you stop?" She almost doesn't recognize her own voice. It's needy and thick with want.
"I had to," he says.
"Like hell," Lucy clenches.
"Lucy..." Tim says, a warning.
"You can't just say you feel something for me, kiss me like that, and then stop."
"I can... and I just did."
"Asshole."
"I had to stop myself, Lucy. Because if I didn't stop myself, I don't know what I would've done."
Lucy swallows, pressing her palms flat against the door behind her like it was a lifeline now. She clears her throat. "You know what you would've done..." She tries to speak confidently, but the words come out as more of a whisper, almost vulnerable. "Tell me."
Tim finally looks her in the eye, and Lucy whimpers because even from across the room his eyes are black, pupils dilated, damn near encompassing the blue she loved so much. "It's not for polite company."
She can't help the snort of laughter, looking around pointedly. It's late, they're the only ones still in the offices of Bradford Shipping, and she'd hardly say she's polite company. "Tell. Me," she repeats.
Lucy watches, mesmerized, as his throat bobs from his own nervous swallowing. She wants to press her lips to the fluttering pulse point there. He looks annoyed, but not at her, at himself. But why? Does he think himself weak for what he feels for her? She knows he keeps his heart close, but surely feeling something for her couldn't be... bad?
"I don't want to scare you." He says, voice husky and words strangled.
"I've seen and done a lot of things..." Lucy replies. "... and there's nothing you could do that would scare me. I know you'll never hurt me."
Tim looks stricken, like he can't believe she would place such trust in him.
"Please," she speaks again. "Tell me, Tim. I want to know... what would you have done to me?" Lucy holds her breath in anticipation, and is floored at the way he levels that intense gaze at her.
Tim doesn't immediately respond. He sighs, and leans over, bracing his palms on top of his desk. He takes a deep breath. "I would have kissed you until you couldn't breathe. I would have sunk my teeth into that spot on your neck I think about too much. I would have dropped to my knees and shoved up your skirt to see what color your panties are, because I'm a lech and can't help but always wonder if they'd be lacy or simple. I'd mouth at your pussy through the cloth until you're begging me for more, and I'd give it to you. Fuck, I'd give it to you, because there's nothing I wouldn't give you. I'd put your leg over my shoulder and I'd feast on you like you're my last meal. I'd make you come on my tongue so many times, it's a miracle you'd still be standing. And then, I'd lay you out on my desk and fuck you so hard there's a hitch in your step the next day. And every time, you'd think of me and the way I made your body come like no man has ever done before."
He pauses, and Lucy parts her lips to protest, but he continues. His gaze is glued to her, holding her against that door.
"I want to do every little depraved thing I can think of to that beautiful fucking body. But I... I want to cook for you, even though I can't cook anything worth a damn. I want to fall asleep with you in my arms and wake up to you in my bed with your hair on my pillow. I want to buy you anything you want. I want to make you so fucking happy so you'll never leave me. I want you next to me, helping me rule my fucking kingdom -- our fucking kingdom -- as equals."
Lucy locks her knees, because she could feel them buckling. Those panties he's so curious about are damp, and her pussy aches for him to make good on those promises. Or threats. She didn't care which they were. Her heart also aches for something else entirely. For soft mornings where she wakes up to his warmth. To lazy mornings where she cooks him breakfast, because it's about the only thing she can cook.
Tim waits.
He's holding his breath, giving her the out. Giving her plenty of opportunity to leave and forget this ever happened.
But like hell she'd ever forget the deep purr of his words as he told her how he wanted them to rule together over their kingdom.
Steeling her shoulders, Lucy pushes herself off the door. Surreptitiously, using the length of her skirt to her advantage, she reaches beneath the soft material to ruck down her panties. When she steps out of them, she holds out the plain, white cotton, the cloth dangling from her finger.
She smirks, feeling some kind of bravery she's never felt before. Like the kind you have as a death wish, goading the beast.
"Today, it's white cotton. Yesterday, I wasn't wearing any."
Tim chokes, and his fingers curl against his desk.
"Now... about those depraved things..."

Green Light
John’s got the reader sweating and by the end of the night Mrs. Hudson will have flour where the sun doesn’t shine. Or, the one where John realizes Cupid’s got his work cut out for him when it comes to a certain high-functioning sociopath and his oblivious idiot. Enjoy!
Platonic!John/Reader, Sherlock Holmes/Reader
“What do you see when you look at him?”
You were contemplating between the mozzarella, sharp cheddar, and the Mexican four cheese for the baked ziti when you looked up at him. Mrs. Hudson’s birthday was coming up and she had decided she wanted to host a dinner party with all of her friends. That really meant her beloved tenants and /their/ friends. She had asked you to run to the store for her to get some ingredients and John being ever the gentleman agreed to tag along. “Huh?” You had no idea what he was on about and he could see it on your face as clear as day which earned you a pair of raised eyebrows and a grin that you only knew would lead to no good.
He dropped the two salad mixes into the cart and braced himself against the other end of it. “Sherlock. What do you see when you look at Sherlock?” At the name drop you squint your eyes and tilt your head, trying to see what he was getting at. “I’m not sure I’m understanding.” John held your stare for a few moments before nodding dismissively.
“Very well then.” With that, he turned on his heels to lead towards the meats, weaving his way between the other people and carts. You followed after him, murmuring your own apologies and pardons to people as you tried to keep up. You stopped the cart in the middle of the empty aisle and reached into your coat pocket to pull out the grocery list Mrs. Hudson had made for you. “So looks like we still need-“ “It’s just that we all look at him like he’s from Mars and it looks like you see something different. That’s all.” John interrupted as he made it seem like he was deep in thought trying to pick the best ground beef package. Rolling your eyes, you turned to the opposite side of the aisle and reached in one of the freezers to grab some boxes of garlic bread. “And what exactly would I be seeing, John?” “You tell me, dear.” You could hear the smirk in his voice, he was definitely challenging you and you had decided then that you liked John Watson a lot more when he wasn’t talking. Just as you were dropping the boxes in the cart and prepared to flip the conversation by asking how he and Sarah (or whatever her name was this week) were doing, you heard your phone go off. Out of biscuits. SH “And he’s got a special tone. It’s really like that, is it?” He throws a few packages of beef in the cart and takes control of it, pushing down the aisle while you’re still thumbing a reply. It didn’t take much for him to notice how much you cared about his best friend and he thought it was sweet. He just couldn’t let you know that without a little snark first. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” You murmur nonchalantly and follow after him, making a point to grab a box of biscuits off the endcap as you turn the aisle. “Oh, of course you don’t. That would be too convenient.” He reaches out to take the biscuits from your hands and throw them in the cart for you all while making a beeline for the wine. That particular conversation finally dies off and you almost jump for joy. You and John spend some time picking out a few different wines to pair with dinner and a few to store away for a rainy day with no cases. You both agree that you should get Mrs. Hudson some flowers and spend some time building the perfect bouquet. “You should be a pro at this, John,” you teased, “you spend a lot of time buying flowers for different women. You must be able to read them like a book.” Not realizing you had just set yourself up, you wrapped the bouquet and smirked all triumphant and regained control of the cart. “Right, right. So then you see why I can read you so well.” Damnit. “Okay I’m sorry, I’m sorry. You win. Truce?” You batted your eyes and gave him your very best smile as you pulled out the list once more to be sure you two had gotten everything. “Since you don’t know what you see when you look at him, what do you think he sees when he looks at you like that?” John crosses his arms expectantly and raises an eyebrow and you curse him for still being able to see the fondness in his features. You throw your head back and groan. He was never gonna let this go. You sighed dramatically and shoved the paper back in your pocket and began the trek down the aisle once more. “I don’t know, John. The same thing you see, I guess.” “A hopelessly oblivious gal with a penchant for annoying dicks? Oh, sorry. I didn’t think the last lad you were seeing was that bad. A penchant for one annoying dick.” He was loving every second of this. “For the record, I was never seeing Bucky. We’re good friends, that’s all. He brings a sense of normalcy into my life and I need that with all I go through with you two.” You pointed at him and waved your hand to try and dismiss the conversation for the millionth time today and put a little more pep in your step to create some distance between you two. John could only smile at the fact that you never denied his first assumption and jogged to catch up with you. You had made your way to the self checkout and began to start scanning your items, relieved at the beeps and murmurs of the machines and other customers to give you peace from the conversation. John moved to start putting the bags into the cart as you filled them. You two made a good team even with something as mundane as grocery shopping. He didn’t look at you as he spoke, more sincere than he had been all day.
“I just want you to know I think it would work.” You hesitated and hoped it wasn’t as telling as you thought it was. The conversation was suddenly very real and you felt the air change around you. You kept swiping your groceries and hoped it would ground you so you wouldn’t get overwhelmed in the moment.
“How?” You all but whispered, praying you didn’t sound as small as you suddenly felt. If John heard your weakness, he didn’t let you know. He continued to load the bags into the buggy. “Haven’t the faintest. I just know you’re good to him, and I think he could learn how to be good to you. If he understood what he was missing, he’d want to learn.” You nodded and couldn’t find it in yourself to respond properly. You swiped your card and grabbed the receipt and allowed John to regain control of the cart once more to lead you out. Once you made it out of the store, you walked side by side with him out onto the sidewalk and hailed a cab. “So how drunk do you this Mrs. Hudson’s gonna be tonight? You think she’s gonna disappear in the middle of the night to go get a sandwich?” John asked as he loaded the trunk of the taxi with your groceries and you couldn’t help but let out a genuine laugh. “You’re sick. I bet you 50 quid she’ll come back with flour handprints on her dress.” You pushed the cart back away from the road and back with the rest of them and got in the cab after John. His eyes widened and he slapped your knee as you settled in and fastened your seatbelt. “You’re sicker! And I wouldn’t have you any other way.” He smiled at you and turned to the driver. “221b Baker Street, please.”

My Masterlist Buy Me a KoFi?
----
Taking a deep breath, you stepped forward, shucking off the mask onto the ground beside you. It wasn’t like they’d be able to see your face back here, or you hoped not, and the thing was itchy.
There hadn’t been much instruction on what to do, so you decided to make yourself comfortable on the pillows and wait in the near darkness, feeling a little annoyed that they’d taken your phone, even though you understood why.
You gazed through the hole, trying to see if you could make out anything on the other side. You could hear music, the slightly muffled guitar from some classic rock playing for the party guests made you giggle a bit. Blowing some random hero while listening to 80’s hair metal through a hole in the wall was not how you had been picturing spending your Saturday night, but desperate times called for desperate measures.
Before you could dwell on that anymore, you heard a sharp knocking on the wall, the light coming from the hole in the wall suddenly cut off when someone stepped in front of it. You had a feeling this was your cue.
You shuffled over on your knees, grabbed a bottle of water, unscrewed the cap, took a sip, and tried to ignore how much your hands were shaking. You knew what you were doing. This wasn’t your first time sucking a cock. The situation was different, of course, but if you closed your eyes, you could just pretend it was someone else, right?
Letting your mind wander, you wet your lips when the man on the other side of the wall shoved his dick through the hole, starting with kitten licks and light sucks on the tip. You closed your eyes and thought about the object of most of your fantasies, pretending it was him sitting heavy on your tongue, bracing your hand on the wall in front of you as you used the other to grab the base of the man’s cock and pump him slowly.
Being a barista wasn’t the most exciting job, but your regular customers somehow made things seem less dull. One man in particular always had you vibrating with excitement the moment he walked through the door. He usually strolled in during the mid-morning, his purple hair defying gravity, his face holding the look of someone who didn’t get enough sleep. He did always manage a small smirk in your direction when you greeted him, already working on his preferred drink order before he could even open his mouth. Black coffee with a double shot of espresso and a blueberry muffin. He never strayed or asked for anything different.
He would pay for his order and then lean his hip against the counter on the far end, arms crossed over his chest as he kept his eyes trained on you. It made you feel hot all over, your mouth dry and your thighs clenching as he watched you work, his apparent interest in you making you feel exposed and raw. You had half a mind to grab him by his shirt and drag him over the counter so you could press your lips to his, the sexual tension that his gaze created nearly driving you mad.
But as always, you would walk over and slide him his drink and pastry bag, biting your lip and looking up at him from under your eyelashes, wishing him a good day. He would always give you another once over, and sometimes his fingers would brush yours as he took his breakfast, his deep voice rumbling in thanks. He would smirk at you again before turning and walking out of the shop, leaving you to melt into a puddle of sexually frustrated goo behind the counter.
You’d entertained the idea of writing your number on his cup, wondering if he would text you, imagining what he would say if you asked him out sometime. It was a shame you were too nervous about doing anything other than flirting over the counter, too scared even to attempt to hold a conversation with him. You’d have to resort to using your overactive imagination to your advantage for the task at hand.
With the music still blaring in the other room, you could just barely hear the man on the other side of the wall moaning as his cock twitched in your mouth, your tongue gliding over the vein on the underside while you hollowed your cheeks around him. Humming, you took him as deep as you could, feeling triumphant when you felt him shudder, thick ropes of cum shooting into your mouth.
You pulled off and spit into the nearby trash can, going back to lick the man clean, and then chugging on your water bottle. As quickly as he had appeared, he was gone, and the hole was empty once again. Sitting back, you sighed. That hadn’t been as bad as you thought it would be, though you figured it was probably because your mind was elsewhere. You just needed to keep this up for the rest of the night, and then you’d collect your giant wad of cash and be on your way.
--
Hours passed, men came (literally) and went, and your jaw was starting to feel sore. You had no idea how much longer you had, but you’d been putting forth your best skills while thinking about the purple-haired coffee man to pass the time.
There was a knock on the wall, so you sat up from where you were slumped against it, grabbed another water bottle, wet your mouth, and got ready to go back to work. Since your eyes had adapted to the darkness of the room, you’d been trying to get a good look at the different dicks that had been shoved through the hole as the night progressed. You’d yet to be disappointed, and men at this party were giving you unrealistic expectations for real life. The one that was in front of you now, however, was probably the nicest and one of the biggest you’d seen so far.
Suddenly feeling eager to prove to yourself that you could handle the size of it, you shuffled forward on your knees and wrapped your hand around it, stroking slowly and letting your tongue poke out to lick at the bead of precum that had already gathered at the tip. The music fading from one song and into the next in the other room allowed you to hear the groan of pleasure coming from the man, your ears perking up, and legs clenching together.
His voice was deep, just like the man in every one of your fantasies. You’d made yourself cum just thinking about that voice whispering in your ear, low and thick like honey, praising you for taking his cock so well, growling and moaning about how good your pussy felt around him. You let your eyes close, humming and focusing all your efforts into giving this man the best blow job of his life, picturing purple hair and a sharp jawline, smirking lips caught between straight teeth, bulging biceps and long fingers. You wished you could feel his fingers in your hair as you took him as deep as you could, relaxing your throat and rolling your tongue around his length, practically choking around him as tears gathered in your eyes.
You swore you heard that voice again, a drawn-out curse coming from the other side of the wall as his cock twitched in your mouth and he came, and for the first time all night, you swallowed all he had to give you, too caught up in the moment to worry about spitting it in the trash.
Before you knew what was happening, he was gone, not even letting you clean him up. You fell back, gasping for air and trying to figure out what happened. Your cunt was throbbing, and your chest was heaving as you reached blindly for the water bottle beside you. Did you do something wrong? He seemed to have been enjoying himself, but it was hard to tell with the wall between you.
You didn’t have much time to dwell on it, though, because there was a knock from the door you’d entered the room from, and suddenly the girl who had led you back here was standing there, smiling at you. “Are you doing okay?”
Nodding, you stood up. “Yeah, am I done?”
She crossed her arms, leaning against the door frame. “That depends. Do you want to make a little extra?”
Eyebrows furrowed, you frowned. “What? How?”
“Someone is requesting you for some special one on one time if you’re interested. It would involve more than just a blow job, so if you’re okay with that, I can take you to the bathroom and then to the room he’s rented for you.”
Your eyes widened, mouth suddenly dry. “Someone requested me?”
Chuckling, she shot you a grin. “You impressed him. He was insistent about it being you, so you must have given him the best head of his life or something.”
Biting your lip, you deliberated. You had promised yourself not to get too involved with this world. It was supposed to be quick and easy money.
“If it helps, it was the last guy you were just with, like not even 10 minutes ago.”
The man with the deep voice and giant cock. Well, fuck.
“I...yeah. Okay.”
“Great!” She clapped her hands. “Grab your mask and follow me. I’ll take you to the bathroom so you can brush your teeth, then I’ll bring you to the private room.”
You nodded, picking up the mask and putting it back on your face, concealing your identity again. You followed her from the room and to a bathroom, a sealed toothbrush and a tube of toothpaste on the sink. You used the bathroom quickly, brushing your teeth and checking your eyeliner, before slipping the mask back down over your eyes and stepping back into the hallway.
She led you into an elevator and then down a hallway, stopping in front of a closed door before turning to you. “You’re not obligated to do anything you don’t want to do. There are condoms, and there is lube in the top drawer of the table next to the bed. If you feel unsafe or uncomfortable for any reason, there will be a guard outside the door to keep watch, and you can get their attention if you need help, just in case.”
Suddenly nervous, you nodded again.
“I know this guy, though, and he’s a good man. You don’t have anything to worry about. When you’re done, the guard will bring you back downstairs so you can collect your pay and your things, okay?” She offered you a calming smile. “Have fun!”
You didn’t say anything, offering her a weak smile in return before turning your attention to the door. Your palms were sweaty as you reached out to grasp the handle, pushing it open. Taking a deep breath, you walked inside and closed it behind you.
When your eyes met with the amethyst ones on the other side of the room, your heart stopped.
“Uh, hi.” He stepped forward, his hands in his pockets. You took in the way he bit down on his bottom lip, eyes traveling down over the black button-up shirt he was wearing, the sleeves rolled up to the elbow, the glint of the watch on his wrist in the table lamp light spilling across the hotel room.
It was him, the object of your every desire, and he was standing there looking at you nervously, his hair sticking up attractively as usual.
“Black coffee, double shot espresso, blueberry muffin.” You said dumbly, your mouth moving before your brain could process what you were saying.
“I...what? How do you know my breakfast order?” His eyebrows furrowed, confused.
Pulling off your mask, you shook out your hair and stared at him, not sure what else to say. You felt completely out of your depth, and it was taking everything in you not to throw yourself forward and kiss him.
“Holy shit.” Letting out a breath, he started moving toward you again. “It’s you.”
When he stopped moving, he was so close that you had to tilt your head back to look up at him. You couldn’t believe your luck. Remembering what the girl had told you, you shivered. When you’d heard that low voice through the wall, you’d thought of him, but to know that it actually was him was a whole different thing. “I didn’t know you were a hero.”
Your eyes slid closed when you felt him touch the side of your face and push back a piece of your hair, his fingers leaving a warm trail in their wake. “Yeah, underground, but yeah.” Clearing his throat, he continued. “I didn’t know you did-”
“I don’t!” Your eyes flew open in alarm. “I mean, not usually. Just needed some extra money to get caught up on student loans…” You felt your cheeks flush with embarrassment, your gaze falling to the floor. “This is my first time doing something like this.”
“Me too.” His fingers on your chin lifted your face to look back up at him. “I didn’t want it to be like this...I wanted to ask you out properly.”
Gazing up at him in disbelief, you stuttered. “I...you did?”
It was his turn to blush. “Yeah, I was just trying to figure out what to say.” His hand dropped to curl around your hip. “But now we’re here…”
Feeling bold, knowing he wanted you just as much as you wanted him, you let your hands rest on his chest, the feeling of solid muscle beneath it, causing you to shiver. “Yeah, we are. So what do we do now?”
“I can think of a few things.” The smirk that made your knees weak was back on his face. “Like this, maybe.”
Your breath caught when he leaned forward, your eyes closing when his lips met yours. It was a hesitant press at first, sweet and soft, making your heartbeat quicken with anticipation. Breathing deeply through your nose, you let your fingers tangle in his lavender locks, pushing yourself closer and kissing him harder. You’d wanted this for so long, and you weren’t going to let this moment go to waste.
He hummed lowly, both hands on your waist holding you close to him, his tongue slipping out to trace along your lips. You parted them, allowing him entrance and shivering when he licked into your mouth. Sighing, you arched into him, feeling his palms slide down to grab your ass.
Pulling back, the both of you panted, your eyes sliding open to gaze up at him. Swallowing thickly, you licked your lips. “This is all happening so fast.” You said slowly. “I don’t even know your name.”
Smirking, he bent slightly, his hands slipping behind your thighs and lifting you quickly. “It’s Shinsou.” He turned and walked towards the bed, dropping you unceremoniously onto the mattress. “And yours is Y/N, right? I remember it from your nametag.”
You nodded, half distracted watching him pull your skirt down your legs, his fingers toying with the waistband of your panties. Sitting up, you began unbuttoning his shirt, sighing when you felt his lips on your neck.
“I know this is sudden, but you don’t know how long I’ve wanted this.” He mumbled against your skin. “And knowing that you were the one who sucked my cock through that wall makes me regret not doing something sooner.”
“I was pretending it was you.” Finishing with the buttons, you untucked the shirt from his pants and worked on pulling it down his arms. “I heard you moan, and I thought it sounded like you, and I just let my mind wander a little…”
Chuckling, he pulled back, shrugging his shirt off and lifting his undershirt over his head. Your hands went to his chest immediately, tracing lines over the hard muscles and up over his shoulders.
“Do you think about me often?”
Blushing, you sat back, pulling your top over your head. “More often than I’d like to admit.”
He reached behind you, his fingers fumbling with the clasp of your bra. “It sounds like we’ve been wasting too much time. We could have been doing this a long time ago.” He tossed the offending garment somewhere behind him, looming over you when you laid back. “Guess I should make up for it now, huh?”
Before you could answer, he was kissing you again, one hand wandering down your side, his other arm bent and keeping him from crushing you under his weight. His mouth moved to kiss along your jaw and down your neck, your chest heaving as he nibbled on your clavicle, his warm tongue laving at your skin.
Your breath hitched as he moved lower, trailing kisses over your breast, his mouth latching around your nipple and sucking at it, teeth scraping over the hardening bud. “Shinsou…” You trailed off, breathless and panting, your eyes fluttering shut as your hands found his hair, digits curling into his purple locks and nails scratching at his scalp.
He must have enjoyed the feeling, a low moan rumbling from his chest as he switched to your other breast, giving it the same attention. His fingers dug into your hip, keeping you still as you attempted to wiggle in his hold, needing some kind of friction for the throbbing between your thighs.
“Impatient, are we?” He asked lowly, kissing down your stomach and sliding down the bed some more. “Don’t worry, kitten. I’m going to take care of you.”
You whimpered at the nickname, closing your eyes when you felt his fingers slide under the elastic around your waist, tugging your panties down your legs. Warm breath ghosted over your inner thighs when he spread your legs to rest between them, his thumbs drawing comforting circles across your flesh.
“You gave me the best blow job of my life. It only seems fair for me to return the favor.” His thumbs moved to spread you open, his tongue sliding along your slit without warning.
Your hips left the bed, your head rolling as your back arched, your body unprepared. “Shinsou! Fuck!” His hands held you down as he descended on you, tongue laving greedily at your cunt, slurping up your juices and sucking on your clit with abandon.
“God, you were so wet already, how turned on were you? You must have been thinking about me pretty hard down there in that little room.” A kiss was pressed to your thigh as he caught his breath. “Why don’t you tell me what you were imagining, hmm?”
Opening your mouth to reply, all you could manage was a low moan when he dove back in, his tongue circling your entrance before traveling back up to your clit again.
“Answer me, kitten.”
Sucking in a breath, the vibrations from his voice shooting straight through you, making it hard to think, you tried to answer again. “Thought about you bending me over the counter in the coffee shop…”
He hummed, and your eyes rolled back, body tensing when he let one of his hands move down lower, one finger sliding inside you. “I’ve thought about that too.”
“Shinsou, please. I want you to fuck me.” You felt pathetic, practically begging him, months of pent up longing for the man between your thighs finally spilling forth as he sucked on your clit and stretched you with a second finger. “I want you to fill me up.”
Groaning, you felt his teeth graze against you, his fingers curling, the squelching sound filling the room a testament to how wet you were as he pressed against your g spot, adding another digit. “Fuck, you want it that badly?”
You shivered, your legs aching, and your toes curling. You couldn’t even form a sentence if you wanted to, the coil in your belly tightening with every caress of his tongue along your pussy. The feeling of his long, calloused fingers stroking along your inner walls and the vibrations of his moans when you tensed around them made it hard to focus. You barely registered his hips moving against the bed in time with the thrust of his fingers, obviously just as into it as you were.
“Come for me, kitten, and I’ll give you what you want.” He moaned, the tip of his tongue flicking quickly over your clit again.
The tone of his voice, rough and full of lust, was enough to push you over the edge. You came with a cry, head thrown back against the pillows, vision whiting out at the intensity of your orgasm.
Shinsou groaned as he coaxed you through your release, pulling back only when he felt you go boneless beneath him. You gazed at him through half-lidded eyes, trying to pull air into your lungs, watching as he sat back and wiped his mouth on his arm. “You okay, kitten?”
You managed to nod, watching as he shuffled off the bed and over to the table beside it, opening the top drawer and pulling a condom out. Sitting up on your elbows, you licked your lips, anticipating what was about to happen. Everything was moving quickly, but you’d been dreaming about sharing these intimate moments with him for so long that you couldn’t be bothered with worrying about what would happen tomorrow.
He made quick work of his belt, his pants falling around his narrow waist as he unbuttoned them, revealing purple boxers that matched his hair. He caught you watching, raising his eyebrow as he toyed with the elastic band on his boxer briefs. “See something you like?”
Teasing him, you grinned. “I told you, I've been thinking about this for a while.” You couldn’t help ogling him. You would have never guessed his body would look this way beneath the oversized t-shirts he usually wore when he came into your job every morning.
He laughed at your blatant staring, biting his lip. “You did mention that.” He shook his hips to tease you as he pulled down his pants and boxers, making you giggle. You liked how he could make you feel comfortable, and insanely turned on at the same time.
Crawling up the bed, he settled in between your legs on his knees, his large hand moving to stroke his cock. He picked up the condom, ripped the foil packet, and rolled it onto his length. He gripped your thighs, leaning forward to press his forehead against yours. “You ready?”
Tilting your chin up, you kissed him, your fingers tangling in his hair. You could taste yourself on his lips, feel his heart beating when you let your other hand rest against his chest. You were more than ready to let this man wreck you. “I’m ready.”
He dropped his head to your shoulder as he positioned himself and pushed his hips forward, groaning as he entered you. The stretch was just on the edge of painful, and you tried to stifle your cry as you tucked your face into the space between his neck and shoulder, your nails digging into the skin of his back as you arched up off the mattress.
“Fuck…”He breathed, pulling out and pushing back in further. “You’re so tight.”
Uncurling to lay back against the pillows, your hands moved to wrap around his biceps, his arms caging you in on either side as he moved in and out of you slowly, giving you time to adjust to his size. You weren’t sure you’d ever been with someone as big as he was, and as the burning sensation of the stretch slowly turned to pleasure, you felt like you’d been missing out.
He finally paused when he was fully seated inside you, his lips pressing against the skin of your shoulder, and then up your neck and jaw until he was able to look into your eyes. You briefly thought about how bizarre the entire situation was, how you’d been pining after this guy you were too afraid to speak to, and now he was balls deep inside you in a lavish hotel room where he was paying to fuck you. At least he had confessed he was actually interested in you outside of all of this, so maybe that meant you had a shot at something with him. You didn’t really want to think about the money portion of it all because that was too much to unpack at that very moment, deciding instead to focus on how he was looking at you reverently, and he was not moving. “Shinsou, you gotta move, please. I’m-”
Lips curling up into a smirk, he kissed you. “I’ve got you, kitten, don’t worry.” His arm moved from your side, his hand curling around your thigh and lifted your leg slightly, and then he was pulling back and slamming his hips forward.
Your hips rose off the bed to meet him, pleasure coursing through you as he started a brutal pace, each thrust making your toes curl and your eyes roll back. You managed to wrap your legs around his waist, urging him closer as he leaned over and grabbed the ornate headboard of the bed above you, using it for leverage as he rammed his cock into you over and over again.
“God, fuck, you don’t know how long I’ve wanted to-” He broke off, grunting when you clenched around him. “You’re so wet for me, kitten. I could fuck you like this all night. Would you like that?”
At that moment, it sounded like the single greatest idea you’d ever heard. “Shinsou, don’t stop!”
Growling, he picked up the pace, letting go of the headboard to grab your legs, folding them between your bodies. The angle let him slide in deeper, the tip of his cock kissing your cervix. You felt so full, the scent of his cologne surrounding you, the sound of his low moans and panting breaths echoing through the room. You keened, your fingers white-knuckling the sheets beside you, concentrating on the building pressure in your lower belly.
Every muscle in your legs was screaming, pleading gibberish spilling from your lips as you begged him to keep going, climbing higher and higher as he fucked you into the mattress. He sat back on his knees, positioning your legs over his shoulders and leaning forward again, kissing you to quiet your babbling. You couldn’t get enough of the taste, your fingers weaving through his drooping hair, delirious and consumed by him at that moment. He trailed his lips down to your chest, mouth closing around your nipple and sucking hard, scraping it with his teeth and soothing with his tongue. You barely registered his hand moving, his deft fingers finding your clit in between your sweat-slicked bodies, rubbing harsh circles over it. “Come on, kitten. I want to feel you come apart around me.”
Warm breath over your sensitive chest had you mewling, your back arching, your body pulled taught and finally snapping, cries of his name repeated like a prayer as you fell over the edge, drowning in ecstasy.
The moan that left him was just short of animalistic as he moved back, hips slamming against yours again and again as he chased his high, your pussy fluttering around him, gripping him and sucking him back in every time he drew back. “So fucking good for me, kitten.”
His rhythm became uneven, his grip on you loosening, hips slowing as he came. You watched the way his brow creased, his abs tightening as he unloaded into the condom. You found yourself half wishing he was cumming inside you, so fucked out that rational thought was off the table. He ground against you one last time until he was slumping forward, your legs falling off his shoulders and to the side.
You hummed, petting his hair back from his forehead. You felt him smile against your skin, his nose brushing your cheek as he tried to catch his breath.
“You okay?”
“Yeah,” You cleared your throat, your voice raw. “I’m good. Really good.”
Chuckling, he kissed your cheek, huffing as he lifted himself off of you. He pulled off the condom and tied it before shuffling off the bed and pulling on his boxers, wandering off in the direction of what you assumed was the bathroom.
You took that moment to assess how weak your legs felt, cursing your choice of footwear, and wondering how you were going to walk. Shinsou appeared again a moment later, a wet washcloth in his hand. You let him clean you up, blushing but appreciating his kindness.
When he was satisfied, you took a deep breath and sat up, moving slowly as you stood up on shaky legs, gathering your clothes and redressing yourself. You suddenly felt awkward, not sure what to say or do. Did he want to see you again?
“Do you have work tomorrow?” He asked, breaking the awkward silence.
Blinking up at him, you shook your head. “I’m off on the weekends. I’ll be in on Monday morning.”
Scratching the back of his neck nervously, he nodded. “I...good. Okay. I’ll see you then, right?”
“Unless you’re going to go somewhere else for your coffee, then yes, you’ll see me.” You frowned. “Did you not want to-”
“No! Oh god, I’m making a mess of things, aren’t I? I just mean I was worried you wouldn’t want me to come-” He groaned. “I feel like I’m making this more awkward than it needs to be.”
“You said it, not me.” You teased. “I’ll see you Monday, and we can talk then, okay?”
“I’d ask for your number, but neither of us has our phone.” He stepped forward, tipping your chin so you could gaze up at him. His lips pressing against yours sent a shiver down your spine again. “I’ll see you Monday.”
You barely remembered leaving the room or following the guard down to where your things were locked up, or the amount of the check you received before you left.
All that was on your mind were sleepy amethyst eyes and lips curled into a knowing smirk, soft smiles, and urgent kisses, the way his voice sounded when he called you kitten.

🐸🐸🐸
It had taken you hours, but you had finally gotten the Child settled into bed. He'd been an absolute terror today. Refuseing to eat his meals, he always preferred when Din fed him. He threw a fit when you tried to give him a bath, wailing and climbing up you when you tried to set him into the warm water, Din always knew how to get him in the tub with no problem. Tucking him into bed, forget it. He kept sneaking out whenever you turned your back. You knew why he was so fussy, Din had been gone for two days from the Crest. A bounty was offered to him by Greef Karga, far too lucrative to ignore, he said he'd be back as soon as possible. You knew better than to worry, but still, a twist always formed in your gut when you looked out the hatch and didn't see him makeing his way home on his speeder.
You settled down into the cot, the lights dimmed, a night of restless sleep ahead of you. Nothing but the soft breath of The Child, and the hum of the Crest to keep you company. You almost drifted off to sleep, but the hiss of the hatch opening startled you awake. Your heart jumped to your throat as you reached for the blaster you kept under the cot, ready to face the intruder despite how much you were shaking. The booted footsteps of two people echoed through the hull, men you could only assume, you were ready to scramble over to a hiding spot until you heard the distinct laugh of Karga.
Your shoulders dropped, you felt dizzy as your adrenaline fell, but the relief you felt out weighed any discomfort. You sank onto your knees on the cot, putting the blaster back under the cot.As they made their way into the hull, you suddenly remembered you had stripped down to your thin silken underdress. You wrapped your blanket around yourself to hide the sheer fabric from your guests eyes.
You let out a gasp as they rounded the corner. Greef was struggling to walk as he bared the beskar covered weight of Din. Greef had one of Dins arms braced across his shoulders while he held onto Dins waist. Din's helmet covered head lolling from side to side, his feet practically dragging, his body leaning to the side like he was about to fall over, incoherent mumbling coming through his modulater. Karga laughed and patted his back.
"You've arrived my friend." He noticed you in the bed,"oh, please excuse us, we didn't mean to wake you."
You scrambled from the cot, not careing about how sheer you shift was. You rushed to Din, your hands settling on his helmet, trying to keep his head up.
"Maker! What happened? Is he hurt?" You asked Karga frantically,"Din? Mando? Are you alright?"
"He's fine, he's fine." Karga assured, as he slowy helped Din stand on his own," we were just celebrating! The biggest bounty he's ever acquired, in the shortest time too!" He pat Dins shoulder, the sudden impact makeing Din lean into you. You let out a squeak of suprise from how heavy he was. Karga swore and apologized again as he helped Din stand up right.
"So...he's-"
"Drunk!" Karga laughed,"and he deserves it, that bounty can buy you both a new ship. Hell it could buy you a palace. He'd never have to work again if he wanted. Course we know that won't happen."
"How did he get drunk?" You asked,"He can't drink anything with his helmet on."
"Thats where you're wrong," Mando said, his voice slurred and slow, his head lolling to the side,"I can.....jus need a really....really...really long straw."
"Oh Din." You sigh.
Din suddenly gripped Kargas jacket pulling him up to him.
"L-look at her..." Din slurred through the modulator as he gazed at you," She's so...pretty." he says,"have you ever seen anyone so pretty?" Karga just laughed but was cut off when Din shook him, "Well HAVE YOU?" he snapped.
"No, can't say I have Din." Karga reassured, patting his hand,"You're a very lucky man."
You felt your face grow warm at the complement. You dipped your head and made your way to help take off Dins jetpack.
"I am lucky," he mummered," prettiest girl on the whole galaxy...on my ship...caring for my son." You heard a faint sniffle from him as you set the heavy pack on the ground.
"Its ok,Din." You say softly, placing your hand on his chest plate. He rested his leather clad hand over yours as he looked down at you."Thank you for bringing him back to me in one piece," you said to Karga,"I can take it from here."
Karag nodded and said his good bye, slapping Din on the back before leaving, the hatch shutting with a loud thud.
You looked up to Din, his gaze burning through his visor down to you as he slightly wobbled. Suddenly he lunged forward, his helmet smacked against your face, making it sting. His hands gripping your ass , kneeding it harshly.
"Ow! Din!," you cried, he rubbed his helmet against your face as you gripped his armored shoulders,"what are you doing?" You half laughed.
"Kissing you." He mumbled,"I just wanna kiss you."
You laughed,"Din-"
"Im gonn buy you all the jewels-"
"You know I dont need those-"
"Furs-"
"Din," you coo, carressing his helmet.
"A home."
"That I'd love," you sigh wrapping your arms around his neck as he rests his helmet against your shoulder,"you and me and the Child, in a cozy little home-"
"Gonna fill it with warriors," he mumbled,"a new one..... every year."
You laughed,"thats a lot of babies, Din."
"And I wanna give them to you."
"Alright, you need to sleep." You grin as you try to nudge him off you.
He takes a deep breath and stands up straight.
"I'm going to kiss you." He declared as he wobbled.
"Oh? Where?" You tease as you tried to pull him towards the cot.
"Right here, right now!" He said as if it were a threat.
"No, where do you want to kiss me, Din?"
He raised his hand and tapped his gloves finger against your forehead.
"Here..." he gently gave your cheek a tap,"Here..." he ran his thumb over your lips, "Here." He nearly growled, his chest risieng and falling as his breath got heavier.
He ran his finger over your chin, down your neck,"Here," he sighed, continuing down your chest, makeing his way between your breasts,"Here. Def...definitely here." He shuddered, "I want to kiss you here so bad." He groaned, and ran his large hand smoothly down your stomach,"here." his voice a near shudder as he reached down to your core,"but this...I want to kiss this. I'll take off all my armor, and forsake the Creed, just for the chance to kiss you here."
You took his hand from between your thighs and placed it onto your chest.
"You would?" You smile.
"What?" He snapped,"dont believe me?" He challenged.
You only smiled wider as he ripped his hand away from you.
"I'll do it!"he threatened, you crossed your arms over your chest, brow raised in a challenge. He grabbed his helmet and lifted it off, spiking it onto the soft cot."See! I did it!"
His hair was as unkempt as ever, his deep brown eyes wide and bloodshot as he looked down at you. You stepped forward, and carresed his stubble and scared covered cheeks, and kissed him. Your lips gentle against his as you softly peppered his lips and cheeks with kisses. He was frozen against you, his arms limp at his sides.
"Oh Maker, I just broke the Creed-" he whispered.
You nuzzled against his cheek, running your finger down the bridge of his sharp nose.
"Din...we made our Riduurok four months ago."you whispered. He stumbled back his eyes wide, as he swallowed hard.
"You, you mean...you're my...my..."
"Wow, Din, you are drunk. You need to get into bed." You ordered as you nudged him to the cot making him sit. His mouth hung open as you took off his armor and weapons, genlty setting them to the side.
"You married me?" He nearly wimpered, you placed a kiss to the top of his head.
"Yes Din." You said gently as you took his armor, various weapons and helmet and placed it on a nearby table.
"Really?" He sniffed, you looked back and saw him on the verge of tears.
"Oh, Din," you sigh as you stand between his spread legs, pulling his head to your stomach as you ran your hand through his unkempt hair"yes, really."
"You married me?" He asked as he buried his face into you, his voice muffled,"you're my Riddur?"
You laugh softly," yes, kar'ta."
He sniffed loudly before looking up at you, his eyes brimming with tears. "Really? Like, really really?"
You leaned down and nuzzled his face,"your the only man I'd ever marry my brave, handsome, fiercesome, warrior." You kissed him again.
He stood suddenly, and wiped away a stray tear that slid down his face before a stern look came over him. He cleared his throat.
"I need to give you warriors."
"Cyar-"
He ripped off one of his gloves and tried to undo his flight suit while moving to kneel on the bed,"right now!"
"Baby-"
"Jus- jus lay down, I'll do all the work,"He pulled you down on to the bed as you laughed at his clumsy attempt to disrobe, one arm and half his torso out of his suit.
"Gotta do my duty, fill your belly, with...with my..."he grumbled as he struggled to undo his belt,"seed, DAMN THIS THING!"
You grabbed his hands to stop him, "Din, you've already filled my belly with a warrior, remember, we made our baby after we said the vows."
He slumped down, and blinked, as he sat stunned. You took advantage of his state and nudged him till he layed flat on his back. His eyes staring up at you. He reached up and carresed you're cheek.
"I love you, Mesh'la." He said.
"I know." You sighed,"I love you too my feirce warrior."
"I hope our baby looks like you." He says as you try to roll him onto his side.
"I hope our baby is as brave as you."
"No. You're the brave one," he mumbled into his pillow,"the pretty one, the strong one, with an ass that brings me to ruin."
You had to cover your mouth to keep from busting out laughing. "Go to sleep darling."
"But I wanna look at you." His voice muffled from the pillow.
"You can look at me all you want tomorrow."
"But I wanna look at you now!" He whined.
You sighed and rolled him over to his other side until you were met with his drunk grinning face.
"You're so pretty." He slurred, his still gloved hands grabbing your hip,"c'mere." He urged you down.
You nestled down next to him, his eyes slowly shutting, his hand rubbing your side.
"Look at you," he slurred,"so sweet, so soft...so...so beautiful." His brows furrowd suddenly,"wait..I can't see you! Why can't I see you!?"
"Din open your eyes."
His eyes snapped open, a slap happy grin spreading across his face, "Oh Maker, you're so clever," His hand left your side and landed on your cheek a little harsher than he intended,"how did I find you?"
"I was a bounty remember?"
He was quiet for a moment,"oh yeah....I'm so glad you're a criminal."
"Can you go to sleep for me Din?"
"Can I use your tits as a pillow?"
Before you could respond he was already pushing you onto your back, his face buried into your chest. You sighed and were about to push him off of you but the sound of him snoring stopped you. He was asleep, you were ready to try to drift off into uncomfortable sleep when you heard a coo by your side.
Looking down you were met with the wide sleepy eyes of The Child standing by the bed, his ears perked up with a tiny smile on his face. He climbed up onto the bed and over you, nestling in the small space between you and Din, his little face nuzlleing into your belly.
You groaned, it was going to be a long night.
Thank you for reading xoxo

AJSKDJLES you’re so nice!!! I was 100% using my birthday to manipulate you into giving us more headcanons lol but I wasn’t expecting you to actually get to it today! 🥺🥺🥰 take your time and no pressure but I definitely wouldn’t say no to hearing more about them making wild melodramatic accusations to make each other laugh in public because I can 100% see it. And I can totally see it starting on the surf trip because no one knows them so they’d just like try and embarrass the other? Amazing.
Sorry it’s a day late but I hope you had a great birthday bestie and enjoy the chaos of this wee blurb😂tbh I love this headcanon for them because it’s something they would totally do! But happy late birthday and I hope it was an enjoyable one!!❤️
Word Count: 1.6K
It started of a silly little game.
Keeping true to their word, the second they had graduated from high school and had those diplomas in their hands, JJ and Kiara wasted little time in planning the logistics of their surf trip around the world. So many places to go, waves to surf, sights to see—it was impossible to choose a place to start. However, thanks to Pope and his intense need to create a plan so his two best friends wouldn’t be thrown into the world as they “go with the flow”, he had organised a proper scheme.
JJ didn’t think it was necessary, and Kiara knew they wouldn’t stick to it. But they let Pope continue with it regardless.
Against their better judgement, his route and itinerary around Europe was insanely helpful for the couple as they ventured through the countries, excited to see places they could only dream about. Especially for JJ, it felt absolutely surreal that he was leaving the island, let alone travelling the world with the love of his life at his side. It was something he would never fully believe, but cherish in fear that he would wake up from this perfect dream and return to a shitty life in reality.
But as he turned to look at Kiara, her hair swept back by the breeze and her eyes watching the glittering city below in awe as they stood at the top of the Eiffel Tower, JJ knew that no matter how many times he pinched himself that this was his reality.
“If you’re about to make some cheesy joke about how the view is pretty but you’re prettier, I will throw you off this tower.”
JJ only grinned in response, shaking his head as he finally shifted his attention to the city view. They had just witnessed the sunset and it was one of the most breath-taking views either of them had seen, without a fucking doubt.
“Well now that you’ve stole my thunder and ruined it…” He trailed off with a sigh, but his smile only widened when he heard the soft giggle that escaped her lips.
“Whatever.” She muttered, her features softening as she leaned against the railing and took in the sounds of the streets of Paris.
“I can understand why so many people propose up here, it’s beautiful.” He admitted after a few moments.
Kiara only scoffed.
JJ turned to her, eyebrows raised. “You don’t agree?”
“Because there is nothing more romantic than having a bunch of other tourists watching one of the most intimate moments of your life whilst horns are beeping down below and the wind is blowing hair into your lip gloss.” She deadpanned.
Kiara was a romantic person when she wanted to be, but some gestures were even too much for her.
“Well when you put it like that, it’s no fun.” JJ muttered with a small chuckle, though he could see her point. “Does this mean I should keep the ring in my pocket and scrap the proposal?” He asked with a grin on his face.
Kiara rolled her eyes but she smiled. “Sorry to break your heart, babe, but if you got down on one knee right now, I would have no shame embarrassing you in front of all these people.” She said with a brief glance at the other tourists standing up here with them.
But JJ’s eyes gleamed at the sight of the challenge.
She didn’t have time to question him when he slipped one of the rings off, holding it in his palm before he cleared his throat and got down on one knee.
Her eyes widened as she looked down at him in confusion. “Jay, what are you doing—”
“Barbra Gertie Stonehend,” He started in a loud, boisterous voice to (successfully) catch the attention of the other tourists. “We have spent years together, helping each other through many hardships. I have been there for you since your bed wetting days when you were twelve, I have been there for you since you got your braces stuck in the railing at the zoo, and I have been there for you since your pet piggy was tragically knocked down by a bike. But now I ask that you do me the honour of being there with me at the end of the aisle by the alter?”
He finished his obscene speech, now holding his ring between his fingers and looking up at her with a faux hopeful expression. She pressed her lips together to hold in her snickers as she glanced around, seeing all eyes on them as they awaited her answer. And when her gaze returned to JJ, there was something quite smug shining in his eyes.
JJ had always been the best liar from them all, the way he would so easily be able to spout out nonsense at the drop of a hat. But she was just as competitive and determined as the blond, and willing to challenge him at his own game.
“Oh Bernie…” She sighed, hand placed on her chest as she looked down at him. “How could I ever marry a monster like you! Marge told me everything, I cannot believe you would expect me to marry you after you were the one that killed my pig!”
A few gasps could be heard from the crowd around them.
JJ urged himself not too laugh, though his eyebrows were raised in silent appreciation.
“Boo-Bear, it’s not what it seems! I didn’t mean to kill Vincent!” He urged, reaching out to hold her hands in his own. “I am more than a cold blooded pig murderer, please give me a chance!”
“I love you, my snookums, but I cannot!”
“Please, honey-bunch, don’t listen to Marge!” He cried out as she ripped her hands from his. “She is just jealous of what we have!”
“Then why are you having a child with her?!”
Kiara could’ve sworn she heard someone utter ‘holy shit’ under their breath but urged her face to remain neutral.
“It’s not mine!”
“Then who’s is it?” Kiara demanded, her hand clutching her imaginary pearls.
“My twin brother’s!”
“No!” Kiara gasped, feigning utter shock as she took a few steps back. “It cannot be Bobby’s…because he is the father of my child!”
Another series of gasps echoed amongst the landing.
“You…you were cheating on me with my twin brother?” JJ asked, finally standing up as he looked at her with a look of betrayal.
“I’m sorry, Bernie…” She whispered but JJ dramatically turned away.
“I can’t believe this,” He muttered before heading towards the exit. “I’m taking the dog and going home!”
“BERNIE, NO—”
“Goodbye, Barbra, enjoy your life with Bobby and his stupid exterminating company!”
Whispers murmured around the group and Kiara urged herself to keep a straight face as she waited a few moments before following him down. Once they reached the bottom, it took one glance at each other before they burst out laughing, tears streaming down their faces as they clung onto each other and walked back to their flat.
It was the start of an odd game they played for the rest of their trip. In the most random places they would play out insane scenarios, the aim to be as dramatic as they possibly could until one of them had to physically leave the scene before they burst out laughing. It was just a wee game to spice things up when they were out in public, plus it helped knowing they would never see any of these people again.
The word ‘Eiffel’ just had to be said and the game would begin.
And boy, was it entertaining.
There was the time they were in Austria visiting a vineyard, when suddenly Roberto was just sick and tired of holding back his secret affair he had been hiding behind his wife’s back. Little did he know his wife, Carla, had been sleeping with his secretary too.
Or the time they pretended to be spies on a mission whilst walking through a museum in Australia, pretending to mutter things to one another and even went to the extent of buying walkie talkies so they could suspiciously communicate from opposite sides of the room. That one kind of backfired because they did end up being thrown out by security.
Or the time they were in a small village in Turkey when it was suddenly revealed that Topanga would be leaving her fiancé, Johnny, for a prince that promised her wealth in power. However much to her shock, the prince she had been talking to was actually Johnny catfishing her.
Or there was the time they decided to re-enact the whole plot of Mamma Mia in Greece to see how long it would take people to notice how familiar the whole situation felt. It turned out it took people a tragically long time.
It was a stupid game that they adored and it followed them through the extent of the surf trip and even sometimes when they would returned home. Not to the same extent as they did in the past with fake identifies, but sometimes just odd scenarios to really fuck with their friends’ heads and keep them on their toes.
There was just something so satisfying about turning to each other, matching grins on their faces as they sat at the kegger and listened to some random touron talk about how nothing interesting ever happened on this island whenever she would visit her grandmother.
Ideas racing in their minds and all the possibilities of how they can make this night one to remember were jumping at the possibility to put on a show. With his eyebrows raised, JJ turned to his girl.
“Eiffel?”
“Eiffel.”
“HOW COULD YOU?! THAT GOLDFISH PIZZA MEANT EVERYTHING TO ME AND YOU JUST ATE IT AFTER EVERYTHING WE’VE BEEN THROUGH?”
After all, it started as a silly little but it always ensured chaos.

Marinette Dupain-Cheng’s Spite Playlist: Remix CH17
The queen has arrived ;)

Chapter 17: Kings and Queens
“Look out!” Chloe shoved Marinette out of the way of a red beam of light. Her knees buckled, and Marinette scrambled to catch her.
“What a shame. I missed.” Black boots climbed long legs, kissing the hems of a ripped dress at the top. A dark tiara crowned flowing red curls, framing the dark green eyes glaring at them from behind a black mask.
“Gabrielle?” Marinette gasped.
“I go by Heiress now, but don’t worry, Marinette, your stupidity has bought you a free pass. I just wanted to make sure my powers were working, and it looks like they do.” She nodded to the girl coming to in Marinette’s arms before strutting off.
Chloe sat up with a groan, rubbing her head. “Ugh, what was that?”
“Chloe, your-” Marinette clamped a hand over her mouth.
Her once shiny hair hung dull and stringy at her shoulders, now resembling straw more than soft silk. Perfectly manicured nails had shriveled into dirty stubs, and her Gabriel-original dress was replaced with a knock-off.
“What?” Chloe’s shoulders heaved, escalating until a shrill scream echoed through the hall.
“You saved me—I think.” Marinette winced. “It looks like Heiress’s power made you-”
“Poor!” Chloe screeched. “Oh, Ladybug better get here soon and fix this! If I see that akuma, I’ll teach her to put me in off-brands!”
“Wait, you saved me. You saved me!” Marinette realized. “Aw, you do miss me.”
“No, I don’t!” Chloe’s cheeks flushed. “I didn’t even know what was happening. I just reacted, okay?”
“Please, you don’t have a selfless bone in your body. You saved me because you miss me,” Marinette said.
“Do not.”
“Do too.”
“Do not!” At Marinette’s smug grin, Chloe folded her arms over her chest with a huff. “Whatever. I’m going after that akuma to give her a piece of my mind. You can go get help or… go buy some shoes that aren’t awful!”
“I don’t think you’re one to talk about awful shoes right now.” Marinette pointed to the ratty sneakers on Chloe’s feet.
“Just go,” Chloe said through clenched teeth.
Marinette raced up the hall, a smile tugging the corners of her lips. She hated to admit it, but in a weird way, she did miss Chloe Bourgeois. Wow. She never thought she’d say that.
“You’re changing a lot of mean girls today.” Tikki remarked when Marinette ducked into a closet. “I think that was Chloe’s way of protecting you.”
“I’m not holding my breath. She probably had too much wine,” Marinette said. “But never mind that. Transform me!”
Ladybug sprinted back up the hall, palming her yoyo in one hand. She should have known Gabrielle would get akumatized once her secret got out, but now wasn’t the time to play blame games. There was an akuma to catch.
Rounding the corner, she collided with another person, scrambling to catch their hand before they both fell backward. “Sorry!” she gasped, but when gorgeous green eyes locked with hers, her heart took off into a sprint.
“Ladybug?” Adrien blinked in surprise. “What’s going on?”
Why did she have to find him now? Even if she defeated the akuma quickly, she needed to be there for Gabrielle. Lisette would have to help her look cute for him another time.
“There’s an akuma on the loose. You should find somewhere to hide,” she said.
“Right.” He flicked his gaze down to their hands, still twined.
Ladybug let go, cheeks burning. “Um, stay safe, okay?”
“Good luck, Ladybug,” he said before running the other way up the hall.
She watched him go with a longing sigh. What she wouldn’t give to be a normal girl right now. Then they could snuggle up and hide together, and maybe he’d finally kiss her. They could get married, buy a house, and-
She patted her cheeks to snap herself out of her trance. There was no time for that now. Akuma first, then Gabrielle, Adrien later.
Terrified shrieks signaled that Heiress had found the rest of the party. Thomas was the one who outed her, so he was likely Heiress’s first target. Ladybug needed to get to him first, even if he was one of the skeeviest people she’d ever met. It wasn’t her job to pick who needed saving. Why did she have to be such a good person?
Bursting into the dining room, she skidded to a stop as Heiress zapped Thomas before she could even draw her yoyo.
“No!”
The tall boy transformed in front of her. Perfectly combed brown hair shriveled into shaggy clumps, and a once flawless complexion broke out in angry, red zits. Stylish clothes turned to tattered rags as Thomas became a shell of his former glory. He scurried away from Heiress with a squeal, and she turned to Ladybug with a triumphant smirk.
“Too slow,” Heiress said, “but don’t worry. Now I have plenty of time for you.”
Ladybug dodged the red beam. She might have been too late to save Thomas, but there was still time to save Gabrielle. This battle was far from over. She just needed to focus.
“I know you think there isn’t a way out of your situation, but teaming up with Hawkmoth isn’t the answer!” Ladybug pleaded.
“Please, I’ve lived among these people long enough to know that they don’t appreciate what they have. I know I didn’t…” Heiress lowered her gaze, jaw clenched. “My family lost everything, but now I can take it all back!”
Ladybug flipped out of the way of several blasts, taking the time to examine her opponent closely. The barcode scanner shot red beams of light that stripped its victims of their fancy clothes, jewelry, devices—anything expensive. Gabrielle wanted everyone to feel the pain of losing everything, so she was taking all of their wealth for herself.
A metal baton struck Heiress’s hand, skewing her next shot, and a black-clad feline cast his partner a smirk. “Having a party without me? I’m insulted.”
“Your invitation must have gotten lost in the mail,” Ladybug said. “You and I both know it’s not a party without your sweet dance moves, kitty. Care to show us how it’s done?”
“It would be my pleasure, LB.” Chat Noir winked.
Heiress pointed her scanner at him. “I wonder how much that cat suit is worth.”
Chat Noir dodged her attack easily. “This cat’s style is one-of-a-kind. All the money in the world can’t buy this swagger.”
“We’ll see about that,” Heiress growled.
The heroes took turns charging in, dodging and weaving around beams from her scanner. Ladybug hooked her yoyo around Heiress’s legs, swinging her around into the China hutch. Realizing she was outmatched, Heiress retreated to the living room where more party guests were hiding, but Ladybug and Chat Noir were hot on her trail.
“Run!” Ladybug ordered, and terrified teens scattered.
Heiress ducked out of the way of Chat’s baton, scanning anyone who passed her between blows. Lisette’s older brother raced from behind the couch, and Heiress wasted no time scanning him before he reached the door. She caught Chat Noir’s staff on the next swing, a grin curling on her lips.
“Looks like someone’s watch was worth a lot. I wonder how much this costs?” She scanned Chat Noir’s baton, leaving him with a plastic copy.
“Hey!” Chat Noir gasped.
Ladybug snagged her yoyo around Heiress’s wrist before she could scan him, but Heiress kicked him through the large window with one long leg instead. Before Ladybug could react, Heiress gripped the string of the yoyo and spun her out after him.
Chat Noir braced as she landed on top of him in the bush, her yoyo bouncing onto the grass beside them. They rolled over with groans, untangling their limbs, and Ladybug grasped for her yoyo.
“Everything she scans makes her stronger depending on its worth. We need to think of a plan,” she said.
“I’m all ears, Bug.” Ladybug eyed him. “What?”
“You haven’t called me m’lady or Bugaboo all evening. I think it’s a new record for you.” She flicked his bell with a smirk.
“Well, I- you hate it when I call you that,” he said pointedly, cheeks flushed.
“That’s never stopped you before. Has another lady finally stolen your heart?” she giggled.
“I-”
“Ladybug!” Chloe shouted. “What are you two doing out here? The akuma is turning more people into dried up peasants. Have you seen what she did to my hair? Bring me my Miraculous, so I can beat some sense into her!”
“Chloe, this isn’t the time for revenge.” Ladybug sighed.
“I’m not out for revenge,” Chloe said matter-of-factly. “The faster we defeat the akuma, the faster I go back to looking fabulous. So bring me my Miraculous, and let me help you, please?” Chloe pressed her palms together, and Ladybug pursed her lips.
Chloe was right. They needed to defeat the akuma quickly and save Gabrielle, but did she really want to give Chloe her Miraculous back? With her identity blown, Chloe was in even more danger every time she became Queen Bee. Not to mention trusting Chloe in general was risky, but after she sacrificed herself for Marinette earlier…
Something was different about Chloe. Sure was still the same bratty, primadonna, but her blue eyes were steadfast and sincere. Ladybug once believed that giving Chloe a Miraculous would help her be better, and part of her still believed that.
There was only one way to settle this.
“Lucky Charm!” Ladybug caught the record as it manifested and turned it over in her hands.
“Now isn’t the time to practice your DJing.” Chloe scoffed.
Ladybug glanced between Chat Noir, Chloe, the plants surrounding them, but nothing stood out. A record. What was she supposed to do with a record? Unless…
“I have to go. Chat Noir, keep an eye on Heiress until I get back, but be careful. I don’t want you getting scanned. We don’t know what will happen to our powers if she scans one of us,” Ladybug said.
“Got it.”
“Are you going to bring me my Miraculous?” Chloe perked up.
“Do you promise not to do anything reckless while I’m gone?” Ladybug asked.
“Oh, yes, yes, yes! I promise, Ladybug.” Chloe bounced excitedly, then cocking a hip added, “But hurry up! These shoes make me physically ill.”
Ladybug rolled her eyes and dashed up the lawn, leaping through the very same garden she and Adrien had walked through an hour before. The mansion was far from Master Fu’s apartment, but her yoyo made short work of the trip. Her mentor was enjoying his bedtime tea when she entered, sitting cross-legged on the mat with Wayzz on his shoulder.
“Master, there’s an akuma, and I think my lucky charm wanted me to come here.” Marinette flicked her gaze to the phonograph resting on the chest in the back.
“Then there is no time to waste,” Master Fu said. He set his tea aside and retrieved the Miracle Box from its hiding place. “Who do you have in mind?”
Marinette surveyed her options with pursed lips, then resigned herself and reached for the bee. Chloe was different tonight, and if they were going to stop Heiress, they needed an ally they could count on. Never in her life did she picture that to be Chloe, but given the present circumstances, she didn’t have any other options.
“Are you sure, Marinette? Choosing her is risky.” Master Fu cautioned.
“It’s a long story, but…” Marinette smiled. “I’m sure.”
“Then best of luck.”
When Marinette changed schools, she intended to leave everyone behind and start over, but the most unlikely people had found their way back to her. Adrien took her by the hand and refused to let go. Chloe begrudgingly kept one foot in the door, constantly threatening to close it for good, but something told Marinette she never would.
To Ladybug’s surprise, Chloe actually listened to her instructions to stay out of trouble. When Ladybug found her, she was dutifully ushering other raggedly dressed teens out to the garden. She really could behave when she wanted to.
Chloe spotted her on the balcony, and when Ladybug waved the small box, Chloe raced up the stairs faster than she’d ever run in gym class. She held out her hands expectantly, but Ladybug held up a finger.
“I’m trusting you this time, Chloe, but you don’t need a Miraculous to be a hero, ya know. You can be nicer to those around you all the time,” Ladybug said.
“Yeah, yeah,” Chloe groaned. “Can I have my Miraculous now?”
“Do you promise to be nicer to people?”
Chloe’s cheeks flushed, and she crossed her arms over her chest. “Alright, fine.”
Ladybug tossed her the box, and Chloe ripped it open, completely unfazed as Pollen materialized. She fastened the comb into her hair and smiled. “Pollen, transform me!”
Ladybug didn’t wait for Queen Bee’s transformation to finish before they hit the ground running. Chat Noir had been holding Heiress back on his own, and it was time to bring him some backup.
The two heroines kicked in the front door, leaping straight into action. Ladybug shielded Chat Noir with her yoyo while Queen Bee snagged Heiress’s leg with her spinner and tossed her through the door to the living room.
“You sure kept me waiting,” Chat Noir said.
“It was kind of a long trip, but I thought we could use some help,” Ladybug said as Queen Bee fluffed her ponytail.
“Let’s show this wannabe who the real queen is.” Queen Bee readied her spinner.
“So, what’s the plan?” Chat Noir asked.
“If Queen Bee can sting Heiress with her Venom, then you can Cataclysm her scanner. Avoid getting hit at all costs. There’s no telling how powerful a Miraculous will make her,” Ladybug said.
Heiress was kicking debris from the cabinet she’d crashed into when the heroes found her. They didn’t waste time as she righted herself, taking turns charging in. With a growl of frustration, Heiress flipped back into the foyer, scanning the crystal chandelier in the process. Ladybug’s yoyo wasn’t far behind, snagging her wrist again. Queen Bee bound her legs with her spinning top, but Heiress absorbed enough power from the chandelier to break the stone fountain beside her. Tossing a large chunk at Queen Bee, Heiress freed her legs, using her free arm to sling Ladybug into the staircase. Chat Noir grappled with Heiress while his partners recovered, but Heiress parried his blows easily before taking his wrist and tossing him across the foyer.
Ladybug sat up with a wince, rubbing her back where it had collided with the smooth marble. Her yoyo had bounced to the base of the stairs, too far for her to reach as Heiress closed in. She braced as Heiress raised her scanner, but a flash of yellow shot across the foyer.
“No!” Queen Bee leaped between Ladybug and the red beam.
Vibrant yellows dulled, long golden curls shriveling to dried husks. The bee comb in her hair lost its shine, transforming into a powerless, plastic barrette. Queen Bee collapsed at Ladybug’s feet.
“A noble sacrifice, but even your Miraculous has given me enough power to end this fight quickly,” Heiress said.
“Cataclysm!”
Heiress turned as Chat Noir slid past her, dragging his claws across the tile. The ground crumbled and gave out under his touch, plunging Heiress into the wine cellar below. He raced over to Ladybug, kneeling beside Queen Bee as she sat up.
“She really saved your skin, LB,” he said.
“She saved all of us,” Ladybug corrected. “That was really selfless of you, Queen Bee. Thank you.”
“If she hit you, then things would never go back to normal.” Queen Bee took Ladybug’s hand, pressing the yoyo to her palm. “You’re the only one who can fix all of this, so don’t you dare let me getting hit by that freak twice be for nothing.”
Ladybug nodded, gripping her yoyo tightly before issuing the call, “Lucky Charm!” She caught the small black card as it materialized, turning it over in her hands. “A credit card?”
“Well, she’s certainly got enough money to take you shopping,” Chat Noir remarked.
Ladybug pursed her lips, flicking her gaze around the room. With Chat Noir’s belt, her yoyo, the credit card, and Queen Bee…
“I know what to do. Chat Noir, I need you to lure her into the dining room and be ready to use your belt,” she instructed. “Queen Bee, come with me.”
“But I don’t have any powers.”
Ladybug offered her a smile and pulled her to her feet. “Remember what I told you. You don’t need superpowers to be a hero. Trust me.”
Queen Bee searched her expression, then smiled, and the two heroines retreated up the hall.
“So, what’s the plan?” Queen Bee asked as they entered the dining room.
“How fast can you swipe a credit card?” Ladybug turned to her, and Queen Bee cocked a hip.
“Please, I can swipe one faster than my daddy can realize how much money I’m spending,” she said. “Why?”
“Chat Noir and I are going to subdue Heiress, but we need you to swipe this across her scanner. It’s maxed out, so it’s basically worthless. With any luck, it will short-circuit her powers long enough to get the scanner away from her,” Ladybug explained. She placed the card in Queen Bee’s hands. “I’m counting on you.”
Queen Bee squared her shoulders with a nod. “Okay, Ladybug!”
Footsteps pounded in the hallway, growing closer, and Ladybug signaled Queen Bee to her position. When Chat Noir burst through the door, he removed his belt as Ladybug readied her yoyo. Heiress was hot on his trail, and the two heroes engaged her the moment she stepped through the door.
“Chat Noir!” Ladybug called.
He slid across the floor on his knees, looping his belt around Heiress’s legs and pulling tight. Ladybug lassoed her torso with her yoyo, immobilizing her limbs. Queen Bee slid in, swiping the credit card across the scanner with practiced precision.
Heiress shook them off, but when she raised her arm to scan Chat Noir, no red beams flashed.
“What?” She banged it against her palm.
“Oops, looks like I’ve hit my limit,” Queen Bee said.
Chat Noir kicked the scanner from her grasp, and Ladybug snagged it from the air with her yoyo, slamming it against the ground. The casing shattered, and the black butterfly fluttered free.
“No more evil-doing for you, little akuma. Time to deevilize!” she recited. Queen Bee handed her the credit card, and Ladybug tossed it into the air. “Miraculous Ladybug!”
Her magic spread around the mansion, repairing broken cabinets and missing objects, and most importantly, everyone’s fancy clothes. Chat Noir kissed his baton as it reappeared in his hands. Queen Bee twirled in delight as her Miraculous regained its power.
Gabrielle stood up, averting her gaze. Ladybug approached her, but before she could get close, Gabrielle stalked from the room. A speech from Ladybug wasn’t what she needed—Gabrielle needed a friend.
“It feels so good to be fabulous again,” Queen Bee said with a contented sigh.
“Thanks for your help. You can be really selfless when you want to be,” Ladybug said. “Imagine how much of a difference you could make if you were nice all the time.”
Queen Bee’s cheeks flushed. “Okay, okay, whatever!” She flipped her ponytail over one shoulder. “I’ll think about it.”
Chat Noir joined in, and the three touched their fists together.
“Pound it!”
“Well, I hope this is a lesson to Hawkmoth. If an akuma ever ruins my hair again, he’ll have Queen Bee to deal with.” Chloe removed the comb from her hair and handed it back to Ladybug. She headed for the door with her head high but paused with her hand on the frame. “Thanks, Ladybug. For trusting me.”
Ladybug smiled as she sauntered off, turning to Chat Noir. “Thanks for your help, kitty.”
“We’re partners, aren’t we? I can’t let you have all the fun,” he said, shifting when Ladybug pursed her lips at him. “What?”
“Are you okay? You’re quiet today. Usually, you talk my ear off,” she said.
He eyed her with a pensive frown and shook his head. “It’s nothing. I’ll see you next time.”
He raced off without kissing her hand or even a parting flirtatious remark on how beautiful her hair looked in the light. Something was off about him, but she couldn’t place her finger on what. This wasn’t one of his usual pouts when she refused to go on a date with him, and it had been a while since he’d even asked for one. Was he finally moving on from her?
Ladybug shook her head to clear it. There was no time to worry about him. She needed to find Gabrielle.

“Gabrielle!” Marinette skipped down the stairs.
The red-head slumping for the front doors turned over her shoulder with a scowl, but her face softened when she saw Marinette—slightly. “What do you want?”
“I just wanted to make sure you were okay. Thomas told everyone about your family, then you got akumatized,” Marinette said.
“Ugh, you’re such a goody-two-shoes.” Gabrielle rolled her eyes. “You shouldn’t be seen with me. If they catch you being nice, they’ll throw you under the bus just as quickly as they did me. Trust me, it’s better if you just ignore me from now on.”
“But what about you?” Marinette asked.
“What about me?” Gabrielle grunted. “I’m done. Now that everyone knows my family’s out of money, I’m the school laughingstock. As far as they’re concerned, I deserve it. Don’t waste your time on me. It’s more trouble than it’s worth.”
Marinette remained quiet, eyebrows knitting together before she finally muttered, “I’m sorry.”
“For what? It’s not like you spent all of our money,” Gabrielle said.
“Yeah, but I know it must be hard for you.”
“Why do you care?” Gabrielle asked. “It’s not like I’ve been nice to you. I dragged you here against your will, then wouldn’t even let you socialize with me. You shouldn’t care about me.”
“Well, you don’t know me very well,” Marinette said, “but you could. We could be friends if you wanted.”
Gabrielle opened her mouth as if to say something, then shook her head, red curls bouncing against her shoulders. “No. I don’t think we could be. Even if I wanted to be your friend, it’s social suicide for you.”
When Marinette frowned, Gabrielle rolled her eyes and added, “Look, forget about me, okay? Forget any of this ever happened. We’re not friends, and we never will be. Just leave me alone!”
Marinette watched her climb into her town car, a sinking feeling weighing her stomach. Gabrielle was right. She shouldn’t care. But she did. Maybe she was just a goody-two-shoes, but Marinette had seen a more vulnerable side of Gabrielle—one that she likely didn’t show many people. After everything, Marinette truly believed that Gabrielle Burton wasn’t a bad person. She just needed someone to show her how to be good.
“Marinette?” She turned to find Adrien approaching from the living room.
“Hey,” she said lamely. Because what did one say to the love of their life after an almost-kiss in the garden?
“I saw you talking to that girl, and I didn’t want to interrupt,” Adrien said. “I don’t know exactly what happened, but isn’t that the girl who was picking on your friend the other day?”
“Yeah,” Marinette said, and when Adrien tilted his head to the side, she added, “it’s kind of complicated.”
“Right,” he said. “So, I guess you need a ride home then?”
“What?”
“Earlier you said that girl brought you here, and now she left, so we can take you home if you want.” Adrien offered. Was it possible for him to be any more dreamy?
“Oh… I guess, I do need a ride. Thank you,” she said. And maybe they could pick up where they left off in the garden. Did she dare even think about it? But what if he tried to kiss her again? Oh, the stories they could tell their kids one day.
“Hey!” Chloe called from the base of the stairs.
Oh, right. Chloe.
“Didn’t I separate you two earlier?” she growled.
“Marinette needs a ride home,” Adrien said, and Chloe cocked a hip.
“She’s got legs.”
“Chloe.” Adrien scolded. “She’s riding with us.”
“No.” Chloe whined, but after a stern look from Adrien, she sighed. “Fine, but we’re dropping her off first. I don’t want to be stuck in a car with her for any longer than I have to be.”
“Well, aren’t you sweet,” Marinette said.
“I’m only doing this because Ladybug told me to be nicer to people, so I can still be Queen Bee. Don’t think for a second it’s because I like you.” Chloe retorted.
“Don’t worry. I’d never imagine that you like me.” Marinette rolled her eyes. “I haven’t missed you.”
“Well, I haven’t missed you either!”
“Maybe you two just shouldn’t talk on the ride home.” Adrien suggested gently.
“Fine, I don’t want to talk to Dupain-Cheng anyway.” Chloe flipped her ponytail over one shoulder. “You and I can have glowing conversation, Adrikins.”
“Why do you get to talk to Adrien?”
“Because I’ve known him the longest, so ha!” Chloe stuck her tongue out.
Adrien sighed and fell into step alongside Marinette. “Sorry, I know it’s not ideal, but it beats walking.”
“It’s fine. I don’t get to argue with her much anymore, so this is filling up my quota.” Marinette shrugged.
As Adrien reached to open the door for her, another voice called out from the front door. “Leaving already?”
Marinette’s spine stiffened, and she spun around to see Thomas pacing down the front steps like a predator stalking his prey; however, he wasn’t approaching her.
“I saw you fighting that akuma with Ladybug earlier. Being a superhero is pretty cool, huh?” He looked Chloe up and down. “You’re the mayor’s daughter, right?”
Chloe eyed him with disinterest, her nose wrinkling in disgust. “Didn’t Dupain-Cheng turn you down earlier?”
“Well, she and I didn’t exactly hit it off-” Chloe held up a hand to silence him.
“Save it,” she said. “I’m not anyone’s second-choice, and I’m sure as heck not taking home Dupain-Cheng’s scraps. Buzz off, loser.”
Marinette hated to admit it, but she was actually proud of Chloe. Thomas was sleazy, arrogant, and greedy—just her type. Maybe Chloe really had changed.
“Absolutely not. Move over.” Chloe wedged her way between Adrien and Marinette on the seat.
And maybe she hadn’t.
