Imagine Jason Todd, street rat, raised his whole life not being enough- given this chance. Thinking that at any moment, he will be thrown back out onto the streets, won’t be enough- never will be enough, starts believing he may finally be enough, finally find his place, just for Dick Fucking Grayson to come in and tell him he doesn’t deserve to be Robin. He isn’t enough.

What do you think that’d do to him? Shatter him. Completely. He covers it up with sarcasm and a tough bravado, but he’s shattered. Maybe broken enough to go seek someone that’ll finally think he’s enough, love him as he is- like his mom.
