#i had this intricate scene in my mind where the cast starts hyping up “lindsay's” sudden singing ability and then--

Noah doing anything just to spite Chris (and Alejandro) is always such a treat to read.
Might I suggest Noah sarcastically singing "Show Stopping Number" (from TGWDLM) as a jab against Chris only giving him few hours to workshop a whole musical number?
Whilst poking fun at the cast's hunger for fame by pointedly looking at them for the corresponding lyrics; "with the press and the glamour, we'll kill the review" could be directed at Heather, who's infamy has gained her nothing but negative press attention, and "spotlight on Mr ingénue" would absolutely be a dig at Alejandro and his 'innocent' façade. I imagine him shooting Chris the dirtiest look at "a big time box office draw" because of Chris' high expectations despite the limited time frame.
Just. Noah sardonically performing a song about how great and spectacular his song is going to be whilst throwing shade mostly towards Chris, and then having the gall to say, "this song's pretty good, huh?" with the straightest deadpan known to man. Bonus points if he does the choreography from the musical.
(Bonus bonus points if he does the pitch for Working Boys, because the implication that he could "write" a whole hypothetical musical show in the few hours he was allotted is so funny.)
Want Noah to Sing? Fine. He'll Sing.
So you know how in most fics when Noah returns during Niagara Brawls, he refuses to sing a solo and gets away with it since he's drama ratings gold for a rivalry with Alejandro? And typically goes for a subtle route at first to take Alejandro down?
Well, I'd like to raise an alternative. No shade to the fanfics I do, I usually end up loving them to pieces. I just want to spice things up a bit.
What if Noah's contractually obligated to sing that return song? He can't get out of it without being in a world of legal pain. And because the episode takes place in a casino, it MUST be a jazzy showstopper.
Chris' mistake was giving him prep time because this is the song he sings:

He sings this while looking directly at Alejandro between 1:51 and 2:05. Owen serves as back up vocals because he just likes supporting his little buddy and the song is catchy. He's the only told 'try not to think about it'.
The best part is because it's a copyrighted song, so Chris CAN'T air it without having to pay royalties. He's successfully spited both Chris and Alejandro while keeping to the letter of the rules.
Did he play his hand way too early? Yes. Has he just painted a target on his back? Almost certainly.
Was it worth it?
Absolutely.
