anyways here are my spidersona's versions of Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus

Green Goblin: Norman Osborn was the owner of Osborn’s Traveling Circus until he began going bankrupt because of a loss of public interest. Desperate, he bought a vial from a snake oil salesman that gave him miraculous powers, incredible strength and super fast healing. Even though the serum had side effects, caused his mind to go fuzzy, he was able to hold onto himself. The powers attracted crowds for a while, but eventually even that wasn’t enough to save his business. Broke and bereft, he succumbed to the serum and turned to crime

Madame Octopus: Olivia “Lizzy” Octavius was the most prolific trapeze artist in America before she was hired by Osborn’s Circus. Due to owner neglect, during a show she was involved in a terrible accident that resulted in her death. (This is part of what caused Norman Osborn to lose his business.) But she never left the tent. She returned as a vengeful spirit, hellbent on causing misery to anyone around her

Similarly to how Oscorp connects the villains in most Spider-Man universes, Osborn's Traveling Circus connects the villains in mine

Granfos and Odda

Two characters I haven’t drawn yet (Odda was drawn as a cameo in a pic, but there is no close-up art yet).

These two Levahn diesels no longer resides at UHB, they left for a new home in 2002, but I’ve choosen to keep them in my universe anyway as they used to play a important part in the museum railway’s development through the years. 

The two look alike, but they are not siblings. Granfos thinks Odda is his best friend, but it’s uncertain if Odda feels the same way.

So who are they?

Since I haven’t drawn them yet, I’ll post some photos I have borrowed from Jernbane.net. 

Let’s start with UHB No.10 Granfos.

Granfos was saved from a scrapyard in Oslo by one of the volunteers at UHB in the 80′s who bought the engine using his own savings. He originally came from the decommissioned Granfos Brug, which was a papermill. Very little information is known about him, even if there is a lot to find about the factory itself. 

After narrowly escaping the cutters torch, he was brought to UHB and given an overhaul. He was given a fresh coat of paint and his own nameplate with the name “Granfos” to remind everyone of where he came from.

He was built by Levahn in 1961 as engine no. 262. He was originally standard gauge, but was converted to narrow gauge upon arrival at UHB.

He left UHB in 2002, as he and Odda was given to Lommedalsbanen as a gift for their grand opening. If he’s still there is unknown. I have promised his previous owner to go look for him as soon as the corona travel bans are lifted.

In his intro story of NRS, he comes off as a bit unpleasant as he has a beef with Bingsfos. But the two later becomes firm friends, and the snowplow Bingsfos is wearing today used to belong to Granfos, but was gifted to Bingsfos when he left UHB. Bingsfos keeps it on even in summer as a reminder of his good friend.

UHB No.11 Odda came from a smelters/calcium carbide works in western Norway. They are also a Levahn engine, but I’ve forgotten their build number...

When the factory was shut down in the 80′s, UHB sent a request to the works, asking to buy one of the two diesel engines. Their request to buy one was declined, instead the works insisted on giving them one of the engines for free, but only after they had given it a new motor and a full overhaul!

And on October 10th 1986 Odda was loaded onto a trailer and brought to Granvin to be handed over to UHB’s representatives and start the long journey over the mountains to Sørumsand.

Odda has a twin, who was left behind at the works. It is an identical engine, bearing the name Nautilus. While Odda didn’t get a name until they came to UHB, Nautilus gained her name in a rather peculiar way. But I will not tell it here as it will spoil a future story. I can only say it involves water and a driver that gained the nickname “the sea captain” because he went down with his “ship”. But there will definitely be more about Odda and their sister Nautilus in later stories as a lot of their past has been documented and written in such an touching and affectionate way, one can really tell that the factory held their locomotives dear. I just HAVE to write about them.

Odda left UHB together with Granfos in 2002, for their new home at Lommedalsbanen, but has later left Lommedalsbanen and is now reciding at a museum railway at Stadt and has been renamed “Oksen” (the Ox) to suit the fairytale theme of the railway. As soon as I can, I will pay both Odda and Nautilus a visit.

Odda isn’t the chattiest engine around, they are actually rather introverted. But on rare occasions they can open up to the right engine, and who is better to make others talk than Bingsfos? Bingsfos gets Odda to tell about their twin sister and the factory and even a couple of fun stories about older engines that served the factory before Odda and Nautilus took over.  They handle every task given to them, although a bit reluctant to pull the poudrette wagon after Høland told them why Setskogen refuses to touch that wagon...

You guys will soon see more of these two, and as soon as I have finished illustrating the first book, I will take a break and draw their ref pics for the homepage.

MTMTE #10: Sympathy for the Prowl????

Stupid carbots making me feel things. 

We open with a page summarising the political and actual situation in pre-war Cybertron, and as this arc is far more complicated than any silly car robot comic has a right to be (stupid people making a stupid series so good that I am eager to read about car robots) I will too. 

Proteus - due to become the next Prime- is apparently an alright dude, stating that he won’t blame the Decepticons for the senator’s murder until it’s been proven. He’ll even give them official political status if 1000 of them come forward and register. I think we can trust him! The last Prime, Nominus is getting a full state funeral. The Decepticons continue to be rightly angry about everything. I like this. It’s simple, and it gets the setting summarised fast in a very on the ground way. It is noir-y, and it tells us just how messed up Cybertron is. 

BUT POLITICAL COMPLEXITY TIME IS OVER NOW BECAUSE CHROMEDOME HAS A CROOK TO CHASE. It’s over pretty fast because Domey once again uses his power of sarcastic detective narration.

He goes back to find Prowl analysing what went down- this is one of Prowl’s abilities: he can look at somewhere and tell what happened there. Another power is illustrating why he is a very bad boyfriend but then being oddly endearing.

I don’t know guys. Prowl contains multitudes I guess.

The building’s Warden turns out to be Red Alert, which in anything that wasn’t this would be a stupid, unlikely coincidence. But when you have a limited and relatively small population of near-immortal beings it would actually be sort of weird if you weren’t constantly Forrest Gumping into people you know. He reveals that the guy who lived there until the whole ‘thrown from the window’ thing was an ex-senator, Momus, as well as a secret Decepticon. Prowl works out that there was a second attacker- likely still there- and hearing that he’s been discovered the robot flees, crying ‘Death to the Decepticons!’ as he goes. I wonder what his motivations are?

But before we can chase him we head back to the future, where Rodimus is conducting his own investigation.

I mean, I say investigation. He’s pretty much certain that Cyclonus is the one who attacked Red Alert- and yes, just attacked. They found his head, so it’s all fine. Robots are pretty tough.

Of course, what Rodimus thinks, Drift is willing to sign his soul away for. God, he needs some self respect. Look at him trying to be all scary as he bad-cops Cyclonus. 

It’s an… un-smart move.

Anyway, Cyclonus makes a pretty solid argument - that if he wanted to kill Red Alert, he’d be dead - and a moment later First Aid confirms that whoever it was, it wasn’t him. The mystery continues.

Back in flashback land, Prowl, Red Alert and Chromedome are under fire from the second attacker and dammit Prowl manages to be endearing again. Ugh, I feel dirty.

Anyway, they’re rescued by-

Orion tells the others that the first murdered senator was also a Decepticon which gives them a pretty solid reason for their deaths, and god dammit Prowl I actually feel sorry for you now and I have no idea what to do with that.

The second attacker dies on the ground- as it turns out he was in someone else’s body (via the Relinquishment Clinics from last week) and his spark couldn’t take the strain. That’s bad, since it means they can’t find out who he was working with. But Orion gets a new lead - he’s needed in the Luna 2 Prison Camp. A prisoner he knows - some dude called Whirl - wants to speak to him.

Whirl interrupts, happy that they’re finally getting to him, and takes the chance to make fun of Rewind’s insecurity while he’s at it.

So Whirl’s locked up for police brutality. As I’ve mentioned before, he was coerced into joining the Cybertronian police force, then told to beat up a then non-violent Megatron while he was imprisoned. Orion stopped him in time to save Megs (though not in time to stop him embracing the knowledge that violence can be used to enforce social change), and now, hated by everyone, Whirl has been having a bad time in prison. That’s not what he wants to tell Orion though: as it turns out his still-unnamed Senator friend is in danger from the Senate, and possibly worse, a giant bomb is about to go off somewhere on Cybertron. And why is Whirl sharing this?

Jesus Christ this is just the sympathy for everyone issue, huh?

Orion sends Ratchet and his BFF Roller round to pic up the Senator from the school he runs- a place where he takes in Cybertronians with weird abiites that would normally result in their ostracization at best. Skids is among them, but we’ll meet the rest later.

Chromedome and Prowl visit a Relinquishment Clinic to investigate, and find a Decepticon rally in full swing outside. But their conversation is the real star here because god damn it Prowl.

Jesus I have to like the guy now. I actually have to like him.

At least Rewind is there to share my annoyance.

Inside, they meet a charming character called Trepan, a name which- in a world where sticking needles into brains is pretty common- just screams goodie. They manage to sneak in further and find a hidden lab, filled with creepy ass brain operations. Chromedome suggests that this could be the mysterious ‘Institute’, a place where out-of-line Cybertronians are sent to be brainwashed back onto the straight and narrow. This is called ‘Shadowplay’, and as that’s the title of the arc I’m sure it won’t be important again.

They escape after stealing some data and make it back to the Senator’s Academy. The Senator, reading the data, recognises it as the registered Decepticon names. Realising that the next large gathering will be at Nominus’ funeral, Orion guesses the Senate’s devious scheme: to blow up a fake Matrix during the ceremony, blame it on the Decepticons and use it as an excuse to start rounding them up. The only solution??

Look at the Senator back there grinning. That is a robot in love. Roller’s baffled excitement is pretty charming too. 

This is a high speed issue, and, as a story like that should be, it’s fun in all directions. It’s funny, and it gets everything where it needs to be for next week’s conclusion. As middle acts go, it’s awesome. But what stands out to me here is the tragedy of the characters. 

Prowl’s the standout, if only because his past portrayal has cast him as such an ass. It’s even more poignant that the guy he used to be wasn’t perfect- that he had all of the same problems he does later, just at a less extreme level- than it would have been if he were a saint. Past Prowl, while he’s still basically awful, was sweet hearted and optimistic, and he really loved Chromedome. And part of Chromedome misses him- if he didn’t he wouldn’t bother to remember his kinder moments. The war ruined who he was, and he can’t be the person he was ever again. 

And in case you needed more, Whirl summaries all the damage of trauma in that one awful image of him holding his claws together. Thank god next week’s going to be a fun heist, right? Right?

I’ve been bad at talking about art, which is so unfair because artists are already underappreciated in comics and I don’t want to contribute to that. But I’m also artistically illiterate and I know that I sound repetitive when I say how awesome everything looks every time. That all said, Milne’s work in pre-war Cybertron is beautiful. Its unearthly and weird and moody and makes it almost seem like these ridiculous robots could really live there.

☾ — ·˚ » BASIL CRATES is in saint tropez !! they often get mistaken as KIAN LAWLEY. apparently, HE/THEY is/are the JOCULAR of the group. they’re a TWENTY-ONE year old PANSEXUAL DEMIMALE. i hear they’re known as ALTRUISTIC and DOGMATIC. they also make their living as ART STUDENT / BARTENDER / COMIC BOOK ARTIST but you’d have to ask them a bit more.

BACKGROUND + PERSONALITY.

born and raised in berlin, germany until his mother decided to move to the us when basil was twelve.

despite growing up bilingual, he had difficulties adjusting to the new surroundings and rather spent his free time drawing, eventually building up universes without needing any context and instead having the designs speak for themselves.

after finishing high school at age sixteen basil took a gap year to travel through europe with money they earned from several jobs during school times. bas was v very introverted back then, so it served as a challenge which once again they had difficulties with at first. but ofc you can’t get around without trying, so bas did. he’s still more of an ambivalent than an extrovert, but this journey made him see the beauty of uncertainty and they loved it.

also ik i used he & they in that last paragraph instead of just one bc basil honestly truly doesn’t care which one others use as long as they acknowledge bas isn’t cis bc he’s v open about his gender along with being pan .. but that’s another thing.

basil has a very high iq, but always prevented others from knowing about it. he basically failed tests on purpose back in germany and in the us he always made sure others don’t feel bad about their results and said his were worse even though he probably always got an a+, thus resulting in bas being able to skip two grades.

his mother had to carry two jobs to make a living for the two of them, which was one of the reasons why bas sold his art from a young age. thankfully it was actually decent ( coughs and looks @ ryan reynolds’ twitter ) and ppl actually wanted to pay good money for it. this was also one of the key moments in which bas realized they wanted to have their profession somewhere in the art department.

married his high school sweetheart in las vegas as soon as they both turned eighteen, but divorced just three weeks later. this is just one of their impulsive decisions as bas isn’t much of a planner, they rather have a few good laughs when telling the story ( even for the 10th time ) instead of asking what if. the only thing bas ever truly planned was becoming a comic book artist. they’re still at the very beginning as basil’s v young, but they’re just as determined to make it in the industry.

basil’s mother was always into greek mythology and even gave her child the middle name cerberus, which literally is the most dangerous thing about him and while he’s into mythology himself, he doesn’t really tell anyone his middle name as he’d rather not be compared to a three-headed dog .. but if he ever ends up drunk u can bet he’d insist on being called cerberus and nothing else.

being a comic book artist basil’s an avid comic reader as well, but mostly prefers indie comics as they’re more his kind of humor. speaking of, basil’s more of a morbid humor kind of pal ? but he’ll also immediately apologize if he takes it too far bc he values comfort even more than getting a laugh out of others and himself.

huge fan of dogs, literally the person that points at a dog and says “aw.” and definitely wants to pet them.

the least scorpio-like scorpio you will ever meet, and trust me this is coming from a Real Scorpio™.

ends up in a lot of weird scenarios while just trying their best, but always tries to take it with humor especially if someone’s with them.

most of his friends wouldn’t expect it, but basil’s very romantic, like going all out even for a first date and is probably doing waay too much for his opposite.

not really into the whole sex, drugs n rock ‘n’ roll as he prefers to maybe drink a few beers with his closest friends due to seeing what alcohol can do to people on an almost daily basis as a bartender. however, all of kian’s tattoos are canon for bas except for the native american and butterfly ones.

WANTED PLOTS.

literally everything but to be basic .. a best friend ( who might even know about his high iq bc he truly doesn’t tell anyone ), bad influence ( basil’s not exactly innocent or good himself but there’s always worse am i right ), childhood friend ( someone he considered a friend after moving to a completely new country ), enemy ( maybe they’re of the opposite group or even in the same and they had some fight that led to it or just disliking each other for apparently no reason at all just .. pls give me smth negative ), ex on good/bad terms ( as basil’s pretty romantic it could’ve been too much for the other or literally any other reason k thanks ), someone who hates his jokes ( plain n simple .. kewl ), my brain is scattered bc it’s almost 2am rn so i Def missed 820397 plots i’d love but u know what .. i’m a plot pro so shrugs. also i nearly wrote pro plot so u get me now .. pls killme KMDSX.

BACKGROUND + PERSONALITY.

just as a small disclaimer: if anyone read girls on fire by robin wasserman, saint’s personality is heavily inspired by one of the characters in it aka lacey. and if u haven’t read it .. pls do it if you’re even just remotely into ya literature.

born and raised in los angeles, us, saint was practially thrown into the lives of the rich and famous. her parents were big in hollywood back in the 80s & 90s and gave those legacies to her.

being practially raised by nannies, saint didn’t really have a connection to her parents till they retired when she was fourteen. from there it was basically always good which is .. v weird but they somehow made it work.

as soon as saint turned eighteen she decided to change her last name to her mother’s maiden name, as she’s never been a fan of women having to give up their names just for being married even if it’s voluntary. this also resulted in her imdb page ( she truly made it huh. ) being “divived” into saint bartowski ( also shoutout @ anyone who gets this ref ) and saint deveraux.

at age eighteen saint also let out her true self, at least towards her parents. she admitted to worshipping lucifer just to piss them off and see how they’d react, it was just a game for her. but to be as convincing as possible, she did the most, even though she would’ve already had them just with her words, but saint always wanted to know just how far she could take it.

to the public she’s seen as this socialite turned actress who never did anything wrong, but just due to her parents and herself keeping everything under a neat little rug.

saint’s a very passionate person and loves to be surrounded or admired by people, but at the same time she doesn’t really care about anyone, no matter how many i love yous she’s going to whisper into someone’s ear or no broken promises ever.

as a result of the press putting labels onto her 24/7 she resents them. the only one she’ll ever claim is being in the lgbtq+ com as it’s basically the only thing in her life she truly cares about besides acting and her cats. however saint also makes a lot of fun of men and highly prefers females and nb pals for .. u know what.

she can also be extra af as she literally bought an old vw t1 bus in st. tropez for the short amount of time she’s there and have it look exactly like the one she has back in la with the pride flag sprayed on its roof and every little sticker/detail on its doors, etc.

getting to her job .. she currently stars in a made up netflix show that’s somewhere between veronica mars, twin peaks and 21 jump street ( the movie version ). i actually made a whole filmography for her but i’m too lazy for graphics and i’m not even sure whether i can use real movies/shows so oo. but if u want a list i can tots send it via disc*rd ( btw mine is artcmis#4377 ). and just know that she admires amber heard and mostly chooses roles like her aka not the damsel in distress. tho she would def love to save that kind of character one day .. js.

this is getting soo messy already omg. but to put her in a nutshell, saint’s a callous, manipulative, control loving, determined scorpio who also happens to be an actress, cat lover and feminist putting up a facade daily. also she can’t handle relationships for shhhit.

and what would these bullet points be if i didn’t start and finish them with a disclaimer ? still a mess yeah ik .. MXKAJD. but even tho most probs don’t even know who alissa is i just wanted to say that saint will have green eyes bc .. #aesthetic.

WANTED PLOTS.

once again any plot goes except for romantic stylez kind of plots bc yk not her kind of thing. catfish ( either someone used to catfish someone else using her pics or even better someone got catfished with her photos n now they’re meeting and she’s .. acting v different. plS. ), fwb ( so yeah saint hates relationships but u know what she doesn’t hate wink wink ;) KMSLASK also probs won’t work with males bc she’s all like [ cher horowitz vc ] as if ! ), fan ( someone who likes her movies or show idk ?? let her be all chill with them pls ), smoke bud ( she loves to party & smoke soo .. maybe even in an all-in-one with the fan plot ), enemy ( probs one of the other sec charas bc maybe they’ve met before or even wanted the same role ?? ), once again my brain is a mess sooo .. good bi !

10 Steps On How I Will Get Better With My Art Despite My Trouble With Learning.

I’m Gonna Preface this by saying I have ADHD and am possibly on the Autism Spectrum.  I do not learn the same way many of my peers do.

In fact, I seem to learn “in reverse” a lot of the time...often understanding  and clicking with higher or more abstract and detailed concepts easily without understanding or having good practice in the fundamentals or building blocks.

This makes learning the often unspoken and more intuitive truths and basic concepts of most anything, art included, very difficult for me.

These steps might seem silly to you. 

They might seem out of order to you. 

But I created these with myself in mind. 

You can switch it up if you like. I welcome it and will be doing that a bit myself.

I have problems with Perfectionism, and my Anxiety makes me nervous and want to quit even while I am trying my best. And because of my Depression I often end up giving up and going weeks or months without drawing.

I also have been dissuaded by my peers from drawing for 13 years... though I continued in spite of this, if infrequently and in private.

So if any of you are in a similar boat I welcome you to work along with me. I hope we can power through this. Lets give it our best shot!!!

Step 1) Amass libraries of reference on my hard drive. 

Of Scenery. Of people. Of objects. Of animals. Have a full stock of reference i can use for myself at will. Print some of these out and keep it in a reference folder. This is how other artists are able to incorporate realism to varying degrees in their works, on foundations of referenced imagery their able to draw on from sight or memory.

1) save 6 pictures a night minimum for reference and put one in each named folder: 

at least 1 full body ref. 

at least 1 body part ref. 

at least 1 scenery ref. 

at least 1 animal ref. 

at least 1 clothing ref. 

at least 1 object ref.

2) continue sub step number one until each folder has at least 100 pictures. That is 600 pictures total. 6 pictures a night for 100 nights.

Step 2) Amass a library of tutorials/instructions/and how-tos. 

I will include the name of the artists who made each one and a url or their contact info so that if I’m asked later how progressed I can reference all these great teachers instead of dismissing their responsibility and role in my progression. 

The people who make these are rarely thanked and hardly credited for their role in bettering the art of others. There is a whole plethora of artists who were brought out of their shells and gained confidence following the steps in tutorials like these and yet we don’t often hear much gratitude from these artists regarding the hands that made the resources responsible for their betterment.

Step 3) Amass a library for Inspiration. 

Gather and save art by artists I love. Buy what I can save what I can’t. Buy and download artbooks. Buy peoples sketchbooks off gumroad. Buy zines. Thumb through blogs and websites and save artwork I love. Have something to look at. Some to inspire. Classic to Modern. Old to new.

Step 4) Trace photographs of faces and bodies to help build an understanding of anatomy. 

Use pictures of skeletons and muscle groups and try to learn how things fit so I can stylize things more easily later on. Tracing photographs and mapping out anatomy and muscles and skeletons will help familiarize me with the human form. This can also be done with animals too. Fill a sketchbook with these. At least 100 must be done. This will also help with contouring and line quality... hopefully.

Step 5) Copy plenty of memes and games and stuff that will make drawing funny and lighthearted and take the pressure off. 

Share these with friends. Include friends. Fill a whole sketchbook with these. At least 100 drawings of it if we are talking digital only, can have multiple drawings on same page but must be at least 100 pages. If I make art fun to do, I will keep coming back to it willingly. This will be a retreat.

Step 6) Fill a sketchbook with sketchy imperfect unfinished art.

Using the confidence from step 5 and that reference material from step 1 and 3 and knowledge from steps 2&4 just go to town and fill a sketchbook. It’s going to look bad. It’s going to look ugly. It’s going to be imperfect. Just fill it up. Can be done traditionally or digitally. If digitally have at least 100 drawings. It will get more ‘finished’ along the way hopefully. (pic below is only one that is my handiwork)

Step 7) Copy characters and styles from TV shows I like. 

Do it so I can get a feel for the styles of these shows and I can learn to pick apart what I like about each style and reflect on what that says about my tastes and preferences for line, color, shape, subject, etc. Fill a sketchbook with these. At Least 100 drawings if done all digital.

Step 8)   Practice Coloring and Painting Technique and Line Technique.

Practice making lineart. Smooth lineart without “gaps: or “hairyness”. stop relying on the movement of the sketch alone. Make sure every line is represented, instead of simply inferred. 

Color in linework. Treat it like “practice sheets”. Don’t post it up online. Just color it. Find linework online. Make linework from scratch. Doesn’t matter. Just practice coloring and painting technique. Find methods that feel right. Find methods that look nice. 

Step 9) Draw backgrounds. 

Draw trees. Draw benches. Draw mountains. Draw buildings. Draw roads. Draw rooms. Draw things that with serve as a back drop to your subject, whether the subject is a person, animal, or object.

Step 10) Fill 2 Sketchbooks with varied artwork.

Try to fill it with “semi complete” work. No visible underdrawings, smooth and confident linework. some without color, some with. some with backgrounds, some without. Try not to leave hands un drawn, feet as triangles, etc. Some occasional exceptions are alright.

At least 25 pages/50 drawings per “finished work” sketchbook.
