this is ur reminder to save ur veggie/meat scraps so u can make a delicious broth for these cold winter months <3
#ignorance cloud on#or for whenever! bc having homemade broth is so good and u can use it in pretty much anything!!!#i had a rotisserie chicken carcass and so i just cut up some veg and threw it into my crockpot#let it get a little color before i threw in the chicken carcass and covered it w abt 10 cups of water!#then i let it come up to a boil so i could skim off the scum before throwing in my spices (i used rosemary bay leaves and whole peppercorns#) before letting it cook on low overnight!#i just put it in containers and i got about 8 cups of very dark nutrient-rich broth :-)#im gonna let it sit in the fridge to come to temp so i can skim off any other fat#(since the fat will cause it to spoil if u leave it in the fridge)#and then ill store some of it in the freezer for later usage!#u can do this w any meat rlly#pork beef chicken turkey#even fish! and typically u just use whatever veg or veggie scraps u got#i havent yet started to save my veggie scraps so i just went out and got carrot and celery#to throw in along w some onions and whole heads of garlic#and the good thing abt making stock is u just throw in the whole veg! no need to peel it or dice it#bc its all gonna get strained out at the end#anyways thats my rant. make broth. its good and tastes 500% better than the storebought stuff
