Q: Favorite memory

A: Um. Uh. Ok I have a lot of "favorite" memories which nullifies the meaning of the word lol, BUT considering how a huge part of my online presence is me obsessing over Lancer, I'll mention a memory that relates to him :>

The memory is...simply my first playthrough of Deltarune Chapter 1! I knew a decent amnt of the game at that point, including the general plot lol, but I wanted to see what the game was truly like. I know I played it in either my junior or senior year of highschool, can't remember which one it was. I also believe it was on a school break, whether it was summer break or a smaller one

ANYWAY, I played the game in the dead of night, everyone else at home was asleep. I had to play quietly as to not wake up anyone lol, and...oh my GOD, I fell in LOVE with the game even MORE after that, its characters included! Actually PLAYING Chapter 1 made me love nearly ALL characters SO MUCH more, ESPECIALLY Lancer. I kid you not, I remember laughing at every single line Lancer had, he was just so therapeutic for me. I have such a vivid recollection of my first playthrough, and there's TONS more I would say but then this post would be a goddamn novel & I'm still only on the first question lol

But yeah, I still adore this memory, and I always come back to Deltarune Chapter 1 if I ever feel down, because man, it works WONDERS <3

Q: What my last text message says

A: It's a link to a page for tickets to watch Coraline in theaters this August. If links don't count, my last text message is...literally just "Ok", that is actually it lol

Q: Favorite film(s)

A: YESYESYES I was hoping for this one!! I have two fav films, one animation & one live-action

My fav animated film is...Coraline, who would've guessed! I do prefer the book but the film is GORGEOUS, and it's in stopmotion which I also love! Coraline as a whole is such a wonderful story & has a very important lesson in it too, hidden behind all the pure insanity the movie has. It's just so great <3

My fav live-action film is Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children! It's based on the books of the same name, and while I DO have the books, I haven't gotten around to reading them just yet. Therefore, I don't know how accurate the film is, but I LOVE IT. I LOVE IT SO MUCH. The movie NEEDS more attention it is hands-DOWN my favorite fantasy movie! It's not perfect, nothing truly is, but I absolutely ADORE it ^-^

Q: Fear(s)

A: I have a fair amnt of these! I'll list a bunch here

Any sudden sounds, ESPECIALLY if they're loud. A couple notable examples are the fear of balloons popping, alongside fireworks! I LOVE both of them, ESPECIALLY fireworks they are SO beautiful, but I'm always worried of the inevitable loud sound that will follow. For balloons I'm much more wary bcs I don't know WHEN the balloon will pop, whereas for fireworks it's mostly a concern of how LOUD each firework will be

Broken glass! The reasoning for this fear is that I cut the big toe on my left foot when I was a young kid from a broken glass shard from a shattered lightbulb. Ever since then I've been SUPER nervous around SHATTERED glass. I'm fine if the glass is intact, but once it's shattered I stay FAR away from it

Being forgotten is a big worry of mine. I think a decent amnt of people can relate to this. I've had past experiences where this occurred, so I'm extra sensitive to this, even if I don't show my worry outwardly

This somewhat goes with number 3: being rejected. I do NOT mean this in a romantic way, this is purely platonic. I have had SO many instances where I was rejected in some way & I don't have a lot of tolerance for it anymore

Overloading is another one. This primarily focuses on me bombarding people with the things I'm interested in, which has resulted in a few people rejecting me, see fear #4. This causes me to intentionally hold back EVERYWHERE, even in places where going on positive rants is encouraged

Finally, to end this list on another relatively "goofy" fear, there's bees, wasps, hornets, anything that stings! People have different reasons for being afraid of these insects, but mine is simply the fact that I have NEVER been stung, not once. I don't know if I'm allergic or not; I'm mostly afraid of the pain it could cause me as I have a VERY low pain tolerance. I literally panic every time a stinging insect comes into my field of view

Q: 3 random facts

All right, time to bring out the randomness in me >:D

When I was VERY young, probably toddler age at most, my head got whacked by a tree/branch, it was definitely some part of a tree at least lol. I got a tiny bump on my head as a result, it's still present to this day :P

My favorite candy bar is Kit-Kat! Funny enough, that's actually my nickname to some people bcs of how much I love them

Bonus fact bcs I felt like it, I've written stuff, Ik some people know this already lol but still. I have abt 10 rotating ideas constantly in my mind that I've never put to paper but I hope to do so someday <3

had some more dreams™️ the other night, less "guess i'm not handling that as well as i thought" and more plot-adjacent

one was like a reboot of knight rider or something (which is funny to me bc i've never seen the original - all i know is dude had a really smart car). the protag was a black guy whose life got upended when his rich gf thought he was cheating on her (he wasn't), threw him out, took the keys to his nice car, etc. he was a hard worker but in a really cutthroat workplace. so he's homeless and needs a car, so he goes to an honest john's dealership and ends up with k.i.t.t. (like the gal in bumblebee with, well, bumblebee). didn't actually get to the fun part in this one, just the lead-up. the guy was living in this out-of-the-way corner near a highway overpass with the support of like two friends (a couple, i think; no idea why he couldn't crash on their couch). ngl there was one very funny bit, a scene where the ex-gf was ranting to a friend like "now i know he's cheating! i was starting to re-think it but then i saw him buying all these sun dresses. why else would he be buying them??" followed by a hard cut to the dude wrapping one around his waist after taking a camp shower. don't ask me why he was using sun dresses instead of towels, maybe they were cheaper at the thrift store??

the other notable one involved time traveling shenanigans to solve a series of puzzles in what i think was a buddhist temple. one puzzle solution was finding an elongated plastic fork and spoon and using them to pick up sacred objects that otherwise couldn't be reached; another had something to do with a bell, i think? and another involved stratigically killing oneself (don't ask me now how this helped bc i don't remember). there were multiple versions of people trying to solve the puzzles who sometimes killed themselves or other versions of themselves (which was confusing for me and the people in the dream). there were also visions of the future and the past, causing more chaos. the evil guy responsible for the puzzles never showed up in person but his wife was there, or rather the enchanted object that was as close as one could get. she was basically a golem with the original wife's hair or something stuffed in her, and the more she lost the more confused she got and the less human she looked, which is an intriguing concept... me and the other person trying to solve the puzzles (i honestly don't even remember the gender of the person) were driving past the temple when someone killed the engine of our car from a distance, which i noticed but pretended i didn't. we went inside, picked up a few 'something's not right' clues, and then i got tired of the slow build-up and went into the main room and said something to the effect of "okay i'm done pretending, let's get on with it" and the puzzles kicked into gear

as a side note, this latter dream helped me figure out a key quality of some of my dreams lately: they're like improv theater. i've never done improv, mind you, but there are parameters of what's supposed to be happening, lines that people are supposed to say, actions they're supposed to take... there are general guidelines that can be rehearsed or thrown out as wanted/needed, a sense that i am myself, playing myself, and playing a person other than myself by turns. it's a common thread for me to notice someone or something out of place but to very deliberately go on as if i didn't. in more than one dream i'll experience the same "scene" more than once, and i remember one dream where afterward someone commented on something in the scene as if she hadn't been present, which would make sense if we'd been rehearsing and she was just commenting on my performance there's probably a lot to unpack here but let's just throw out the whole suitcase, huh?

i can't remember if the animal people were in either of these or in their own. i really only remember a white tiger with extremely long fur on its tail, a dog, and maybe mind-controlling snakes?

Response in thoughts......I wonder...if he would be going to the film festival, they'd only have so many seats for the director, important producers/studio people, main cast actors etc. He's not main cast, he's not listed in the cast on imdb or Wikipedia. So I doubt very much this is "HIS moment" lol. As some haters say (just to attack Johanne for having her picture taken at all, in Paris). Networking is important for both careers. So I wonder if his good luck comment, means that he's not going? No good way to answer if he'd be going bc it doesn't seem that likely for Venice.

I hope I'm wrong and he goes to every premiere lol, more exposure to people and mingling in his business is a very important way to get himself more business.

It's like when people say Paris was his moment too, I find that a ridiculous statement bc in Paris he was a guest to watch a men's show. A guest to watch the show, not in the show or anything more, just another famous face watching a fashion show. It's hardly "his moment" in the spotlight. So many people were invited lol, he attended a fashion show, nothing more. Network work time yes, fun cool experience yes, "his moment".......what a ludicrous thing to say bc he was invited to watch a men's clothing show. No. I'm thinking certain fans with extreme hate for JM don't understand he's not as famous as they think he is (I still think of him as an underdog).

This movie will be mostly the same, he'll probably only be interviewed about this film by the danish press. I also wonder if he will be the biggest star of the movie to attend the Danish premiere. Usually the main cast will do new york, LA, and a couple of euro spots but I'm not sure Denmark is big enough to draw the main cast. I hope im wrong bc I'd love to see what Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton would wear to the Danish premiere. So fingers crossed that it works out better than that. 😊😊

Now as for do I think Johanne will be going to Venice or NYC or Spain? I doubt it, not sure if she'll be going to the Danish premiere either bc before then she'll be with Wicked! It's running from 9/18-11/17. 😊 but maybe she can schedule it? But who knows? But Oct 31st is on a Thursday so it would have to depend on how her theater schedule works out. She could always have days off/understudy takeovers etc. I don't know how it would work.

Also random thought but if JM hadn't taken all those party photos in Paris, and other vids photos of him in Paris....how much content from the show would we have gotten? Outside with press and his video of the show? That'd be it. She's literally helping his career through exposure and making a good impression on those they came into contact with (the Hermes people that commented on her post, they didn't do that for other people). I don't understand how people can so wholly be against their celeb crushes GF that they are angry she networked for them both (if she didn't network for herself at all, then she'd be a fool, and she doesn't come across as a fool). And she was successful in networking, the comment from hermes' people). I hope it bears fruit.

You know what? Yes.

I started to think about it like, oh DJ would make the drinks. But the more I thought about it the more I was like, no. That would be Duncan. They're videos always start with DJ or Gwen coming up with a drink name and the general theme and Duncan tries to guess what would be in it. He makes way more than they need because at the end of every

One time Gwen came up with Green Goober (a la ghost busters) because DJ picked stories specifically taken place at a theater or when someone was watching a movie. Duncan hears the word green and goes straight to the Absinthe. Eyeballs it before he put gin and some of drops ice in there, he's not trying that hard with this one. (He also makes way more than is needed so DJ doesn't have to make it)

DJ has a high alcohol tolerance but hates the taste while Gwen is 96 pounds wet but is here for a good time not a long time. DJ has a bad feeling because when Duncan and Gwen get too drunk they argue a lot more. The audience thinks it's funny while DJ remembers the camera Duncan broke 'on accident'.

Gwen: it tastes like ass (but she goes for another drink)

And every time they get to the end of the season (that i think would appear every time the season changes because theming or whatever) Duncan goes back to the table with DJ. The two have a contest on who can drink the most of the remaining drinks that went untouched, because again, Duncan makes way more than he needs to.

DJ usually wins because have you seen him? He's tall and I think his tolerance is always the highest no matter who he's up against. Duncan is either a good sport about it or the sorest of losers.

Gwen one time was next to the video camera and cheered to much for DJ and accidentally knocked the camera over. The lens broke and she drunkenly cried because she killed it and they don't have any money. DJ has to stop drinking to try and calm Gwen down.

The viewers can see through the broken lens that Duncan is still drinking and cheering himself on about how he's finally going to win.

an idol and theater troupe mashup that does live performences of both shows and concerts, as well as streaming their practices. they've gained a lot of fans both nationally and overseas!

their sekai, the stage sekai, was created by minori and kohane's respective desires to be seen for who they are, find their confidence and spread hope via two different kinds of performence - idol concerts (minori) and stage plays (kohane). upon realising there was another girl who shared in her dream, the two began recruiting those with some experience to help them realise their hopes.

airi joined the group when minori asked with little convincing. an ex-idol, she taught the younger girls how to perform and sing, with the help of the vocaloids already in the sekai.

mafuyu was the last member to join, at kohane's request. both minori and airi had asked her to join after she wrote a playscript for a school competetion but it was kohane's determination that had her hooked. surprisingly, she didn't need any tutoring from airi in the matters of singing but her dancing was abysmal.

they've also asked a few of mafuyu's friends to help out with set and costume design, as well as used a few other favours to get a manager who's high up in the theater entertainment industry.

I have a question, and you seem to be very good at explaining things. My understanding is that transfemme/transwoman/femme? are all the same, and mean someone who was assigned male at birth, and currently identifies as transgender. And the same for transmasc/transman/masc. Just, yknow, the other way around. Is that correct? Or am I getting my terminology wrong? I've always been kinda shakey on that, but wasn't sure who to ask without seeming rude, or like I was mocking them.

"Femme" is a word with multiple meanings. It can mean:

"Woman" - since it's just the word 'woman' in French, and this is where all of the other meanings come from.

"A femme lesbian, that is, someone who fits the 'femme' dynamic or presentation within a butch/femme relationship, or simply on their own." - This is regardless of actual gender, pronouns, cis, trans, whatever. Butch and femme in this context come to us from Polari, which is a theater cant from the UK commonly used by Travellers, theater people, sex workers, and queer folx (and all the intersections thereof). The butch/femme dynamic in lesbian (and gay!) relationships and communities goes back at least seventy-five years. This has way more context to it than I can cover in this, but, like, if you look at movies like Paris Is Burning or read any of the older lesbian zines, you'll see many many examples.

"A transfeminine person, that is, someone who was assigned male at birth and is moving in a feminine direction with their transition, or presents feminine rather than masculine OR a person who presents feminine regardless of gender." - 'Femme' is often used as a catch-all term for anyone who is "femme of center" when discussing gendered issues. This can include cis women, femme non-binary people regardless of gender at birth, binary trans women, and many other varieties as well.

You'll sometimes see "women and femmes" used to describe who belongs in a particular space, but this is falling out of favor, thankfully, as it was often used as a low-key misgendering of AFAB non-binary people and trans men. What people usually meant by that is "people with vaginas and also trans women I guess," and it ended up with a sort of 'woman lite' implication for the word 'non-binary' and excluding non-binary people who didn't present feminine enough (usually meaning 'they have a dick and are non-binary'). The whole phrase is a mess and I'm glad we're moving more toward talking about "marginalized genders."

My wording on this may not be perfect, and it may not match every single use of femme as other people understand it -- and I'm sure I've forgotten some usages of it. The point is that it's a contextual word. What it means often depends on the conversation at hand, who's having the conversation, what community they're part of (whether that's the lesbian community, the queer community, the trans community, what region or country they're from... ), etc. If you're confused by someone's use of 'femme' contextually, it doesn't hurt to ask for more information. (Though I would avoid saying things like 'define femme' bc that's often the sort of thing that TERFs and the baby-TERF exclusionists do, and you may come off unintentionally as one of them. Asking 'hey, I know this word has lots of contextual different meanings, would you mind clarifying for me' is probably better.)

That's one thing, honestly, I think we need to get a lot better at as a community -- and here I know I'm going on a tangent -- recognizing that a lot of our words are contextual, lots of them don't have single, fixed, universally-recognized meanings, that the US isn't the single defining experience of queerness and other countries use other terms which are as correct as ours, and that even regionally there are lots of different terms or slightly different definitions. This sort of dogmatic 'there is absolutely only one definition, and it's mine, and I'm going to redefine your experience and your identity if it doesn't fit my definition' is something I've seen far too much of lately, especially from younger queer folx.

I know it's like, really tempting to want to have singular rigid definitions for every word, but that doesn't fit people's experiences of gender or sexuality, and the trend I've seen toward literally telling people "you are not X, your experience doesn't fit X, you are Y," is some nasty-ass stuff and it really needs to stop. I've seen it most often with younger lesbians telling older (in some cases decades older) lesbians "you're wrong, you're bisexual/pansexual, you're not a lesbian," but I've also seen it with gender, people telling others what their gender is, and that's the shit that TERFs and other transphobes do, we can't be doing that to each other.

Anyway, femme means a lot of things, depending on context. Ask people if you're not sure. And before I hit post on this, let me make clear that I don't tolerate discourse around whether butch and femme are "lesbian exclusive" terms. They are not, they never have been, and if someone comes into my notes trying to start that old bullshit up again, they will not get the serotonin of a reply from me. They will get blocked without response.

Hmm, I think A Man Called Otto/Ove might be the only one I've seen in the theater this year! It was very good, I cried a TON, oh god

If I'm not going anywhere, shorts and a tshirt! If I'm going out, I wear a lot of casual dresses and high waisted shorts/crop top combos. When I'm working, it's a lot of dresses and dress pants (but they have to be dress pants I don't mind sitting on the floor/moving/spilling paint on lol)

For some reason, I cried when I wrote the last sentence in this little paragraph from In Another Life:

what is something that you’d like to create content for?

Hmm, I've been thinking a lot about my original writing recently actually! As far as fic goes, I've thought about writing for Manifest which I just finished, but honestly, I'm kinda at a point where I just love writing SW fic bc it's easy? And fic for me is a fun hobby, I like it to be easy lol, and then I can save my sweat for my original work. But I have thought about writing for Manifest, or Bly Manor—I even started a bly manor fic I never finished, so you never know!

what’s something you’re currently obsessed with?

@katierosefun has sucked me into leverage if we're talking TV shows, but also I've been very into roller skating recently, and learning how to cook!

what’s something you were excited about that turned out to be disappointing this year?

Starting my masters, unfortunately. There have been good parts of it, and in the end it will be worth having done it, but overall I'm just not extremely happy there, and the experience hasn't been what I've expected. But it's all experience, and I am lucky for the good parts I've had.

what’s a hidden talent of yours?

I can tap dance! I have two pairs of tap shoes, and I took lessons bc the YMCA offered them for free to college students when I was like 19, so I learned!

are you religious?

I don't know. I think the only time I feel religious is when I sing. Otherwise, idk, there's a lot of religion-related hurt that I haven't really sorted through.

what’s something you wish to have at this moment?

Some normal sleep! For some reason I've had such a hard time sleeping for the past week or so, and the air conditioner has been broken for about a week also, so I've just done a lot of....laying in bed....sweating profusely....not sleeping...

I start grad school in the fall and I'll be getting my Principal's Certification with that, so I suppose I'm in this education world for the long haul.

The weather recently! It was supposed to rain the past couple weeks and we've not gotten much more than a few minutes of sprinkling. I looooove rainy days, so that's bummed me out quite a bit.

OMGCP leverage au

Jack is a former insurance investigator, chasing after con-men. He struggled with anxiety and his high intensity job, and accidentally overdosed on his anxiety medications after a particularly rough case. When he comes back to work afterwards he is immediately fired on some bullshit excuse but he knew that the company was “embarrassed” by his public overdose. Without his job to devote all his time to, his life kind of fell apart and he struggles even more with his anxiety, maybe leaning even heavier on benzos.

Some rich CEO approaches him with a job- his competitor stole his patent and he assembled a team to steal it back. He just needs a “good guy” to watch over them and make sure they don’t fuck him over. Jack isn’t interested in returning to that kind of work, doesn’t want to make his anxiety worse than it already is. But this competitor is insured by his old company, and well he can’t turn down a chance to screw them over in revenge.

So Jack takes the job and meets up with this assembled team-

“Shitty”- thief. No one knows his real name. Jack thinks he’s crazy, Instantly tries to become Jack’s best friend, which annoys Jack because he views Shitty as a criminal and considers himself to be ‘above’ that (for now).

“Holster”- hitter. Impressive track record working security for mobs. He and Ransom becomes best friends immediately. Honestly it takes him a while to stop viewing Jack as a narc.

“Ransom”- hacker. Has been a computer genius since a young age. Once they form Samwell he struggles with anxiety about the team being physically in danger while he is in the getaway van with his computer. Holster helps him through it by reassuring him that he can keep everyone safe

The plan goes smoothly and they are able to get the patents back to the CEO. But then he tries to kill them, and they realize they’ve been tricked to steal another company’s original plans for that asshole and he tried to tie up loose ends. Jack devises a plan to get back at him, but he already knows all of their faces so they need a new grifter to pull this off.

Enter Bitty.

Shitty knows him from some previous con, and claims that he’s the best local guy. He brings them all to the small theater Bitty is performing at, trying to be an actor now that he is out of the con game. They watch him perform on stage and he is just. TERRIBLE. He is an incredible con man, but cannot act on stage to save his life because he gets too in his head. Jack is pissed because they need a real grifter in order to pull this off, and he doesn’t trust Bitty at all. Shitty manages to convince him to give Bitty a chance, considering they’ve got a tight timeline. So Bitty joins the team, and even though Jack is an asshole Shitty, Ransom, and Holster are all nice and welcome him in.

They start the con and Bitty just wows Jack with how smooth his acting is. He’s a completely different person than the guy that was on stage. Jack realizes that they actually can pull this off.

They do, and they end up humiliating the CEO and destroying the company. As FBI agents walk out of his office with box after box of evidence, the crew stands outside the window and waves at him. Ransom has the forethought to put money in the stock market since he knows the company will go under, and the whole crew makes like a gazillion dollars. Enough to retire.

At first Jack is all “One show only. No encores.” But he realizes that he actually wasn’t that anxious during the con (once he realized Bitty knew what he was doing). Actually, being the mastermind behind the plan gave him control, and he didn’t even need a benzo the last few days. So he kind of shyly mentions that this was kind of fun, and maybe they could do it again sometime? And of course the whole team agrees, because they’re all lonely working alone and none of them have had this much fun on a job ever. So they start up a hotline to help people who have been fucked over by the rich and powerful and form their own Robin Hood gang- Samwell.

((Btw Kent would Sterling + Maggie in this- Jack’s old partner at the insurance agency. They used to hook up on the DL, and they were amazing at their job but were a completely dysfunctional, competitive relationship. He offers Jack a job to return to the agency and be his partner again, and Jack turns him down because he has a purpose and a family and is actually happy now. Kent vows to track them down and wants to use the threat of arresting he team to force Jack into coming back and working with him. He never is able to bc the team is smarter than him and Bitty will leave little passive aggressive messages whenever he gets close- Kent bursts into an “abandoned” warehouse yelling “Gotcha!”, only to find it is actually abandoned. Except for a pie sitting in the middle of the floor, still warm, with a note “Better luck next time xoxo”))

The next job they do requires a forged piece of artwork- they hire Lardo, a well-known forger. At first she thinks this is just a one-off, but the team (especially Shitty) all love her and ask her to join the crew. She’s also great at graphic design and all the other stuff that goes into making a believable cover (basically all that extra stuff Hadison does: costumes, props etc.) She eventually starts learning some thieving skills from Shitty too. And she starts experimenting more with her own original artwork, which hangs on every wall in HQ.

They eventually run into Dex, Nursey, and Chowder- a trio of hitter/hacker/grifter. Maybe they were after the same mark? They’re younger than the Samwell crew so they take them under their wing. Dex and Nursey are always bickering like Elliot and Hardison- “Nobody throws Nursey off a roof…. Except maybe me”.

Jack still struggles with anxiety, especially during tough jobs and close calls. He thinks that if they get caught it is all his fault since he came up with the plans (and Kent’s threats don’t help). The team helps him understand that they all know the risks and they follow him anyway because they trust him and he is a good person who wants to help good people who get screwed over by powerful rich assholes. They would gladly go to prison for that- they were all criminals working alone before. Now they are a family with a purpose, plus they still get to do crimes! It’s a win-win.

Okay so Bitty has a problem with physicality, and is super afraid of getting beat up on a job. One job Jack makes a risky play, and Bitty ends up getting hurt. Jack is furious with himself for letting it happen and putting the success of the con before Bitty’s safety. Afterwards he takes it upon himself to teach Bitty self-defense. Holster offers to do it, but Jack feels personally responsible and wants to do it himself. Bitty is appreciative, but also very intimidated by Jack. Over time though he gets better and better and the first time he punches someone on the job Jack almost kissed him right then and there.

Jack just goes “Oh.” And tries to keep ignoring it until one night the sexual tension between them becomes too much. And then Jack freaks out, because they last time he was hooking up with someone he worked with it was a disaster. But he realizes that he wants this so much, and Bitty does too, and they eventually get together. They try to hide it from the team for a while, to avoid messing with the dynamic, but they’re not very good at hiding it so the team figures it out pretty quickly.

Also I want Jack “who the fuck is Eric?” to keep trying to guess Bitty’s first name while the whole team already knows, a la Nate and Sophie. Bitty agrees to marry him when Jack finally proposes using the right name (which takes forever).

The Leverage hockey episode!!!!!!! Obsessed with the idea of Bitty telling Jack he stole the Stanley Cup.

same here, he is still the reason. I always liked movies and going to the theater and when I first saw a movie of his in theater, interstellar, pretty much everything changed, and since then, bc of that evening and all - the experience - , I wanted to be a film director too. I could literally spend all day talking abt that day, that evening that I went to see interstellar with my parents, of how I felt watching the movie, feeling every bit of it, falling in love with everything that I saw and heard, being completely taken away to somewhere else and struck with so much, so many things in this movie that I take extremely personal. I say and I am not joking - I entered that theater as someone, and left as someone else - I remember how I felt, I remember the cold air hitting my face covered in tears, my eyes wide open while I was shaking and having hickups. when I think of a moment to come back in time to and feel everything again, I think of that evening.

I still have the photo of the ticket, (I didn't keep the actual ticket cause it's that thin yellow paper that fades away) I found it last year in my Google photos backups. this movie is my BABYYY and I'll forever protect it from anyone, be damned I'll protect it even from its creator if I have to lmao.

I never really paid attention to the person making the movie, I just went to see bc I knew "it's the movie from the person who made batman" oh I loved the batman movies, yeah I'll watch it. well

and it's a KARMA STORY too... bc I saw first time, interstellar trailer on July 31st, in imax, when I went to see guardians of the galaxy, and guess what? trailer came on, I completely ditched and shitted on it telling my friend next to me "eh another boring astronaut movie that goes to the moon and everything goes to shit, conspiracy theory bullshit cliche movie" bruh... to 5 months later... and I get completely obliterated by this movie. (imagine that scene of Loki getting smacked by b 13 in the first episode of Loki - I am Loki and the movie is b 13)

I remember two years after seeing it, I got to write and direct this project for history class in high school, it was so amazing, it was so simple and so silly but I loved doing it, I remember my teacher congratulating me and I started to cry bc I was just so happy and I kept thinking of my fav movie and just being overwhelmed by thinking if "this is what I'll do with my life". with time, bc I am moron that doesn't look up shit, I become a fan very slowly... so when tenet trailer released it was all excitement around and after that I am here...

in the gutter, bc I started to dig into this guy's movies a lot, I thought "oh ok this guy made my fav movie that helped me to go through so much during extremely hard time in my life, I am gonna check out the rest"

when I found out abt the book Tom shone wrote I became obsessed to read, I found it online for #free started reading it in March 2021, but since I am an espetacular procrastinator in reading, it's March 2022 and I still even got to the 5th chapter, which is about inception, I made my first credit card so I couldn't buy a copy, I cried when it arrived cause the book is GORGEOUS. it's all red, hard cover, so pretty, has this hot stamping on the spine, has even the specs in the last page abt the book project ( I am a graphic designer, I love to see all those details). I've been all heart eyes over this book since it arrived.

I cried when Jess posted this video on her ig showing the interstellar script in this hard cover format in all red (my fav color) and she was also talking abt him I was like 😍😭😍😭😍😍😭😭😍😍😭😍😍😭😭

ppl like this grows on me, passionate ppl who love what they do, that cares about the experience, the whole process, that craftsmanship of the work, who has vision and works to bring it to life, it's insanely amazing what he does, it's this incredible amount of love and care involved in every step of making a movie that warms my heart and soul, I see it through his movies, the echo of this man's passion, I just love it so much. and since I started seeing all movie's behind the scenes, you just finally get it. he is so focused on his works, he does it so well, he cares about the quality, and oh... he is such a sweet humble man, I can't get enough of him.

Tyril Starfury — with his red silk shirts and slicked back hair — looks every bit the part of a rock god on stage with the rest of BLADES; but here, in the confines of their tour bus, he is a quiet presence, calmly sipping tea in the corner with a notepad and pen in his hands, his mind far away in the early hours of the morning.

If you had told me eighteen months ago that I would be shadowing Broadway darling Tyril Starfury as he traveled cross-country with his new rock band, I would have laughed and called you preposterous.

And yet, here I am, witness to the madness.

Nia Ellarious, the band’s youngest member and resident pianist, offers me a cup of the same tea as Starfury’s, telling me to enjoy the quiet with an almost apologetic smile.

I understand what she means not long after.

(There’s no such thing as a quiet morning in the world of Mal Volari.)

Every bit as charming and flamboyant as his on-stage persona, Volari greets the entire bus a good morning with flourish, throwing both me and Ellarious a magnetic smile before slipping towards the coffee machine with exceptionally light feet. (More on that later.) He taps on every available surface while he waits for his coffee to brew, humming softly as if figuring out a melody right there on the spot.

If Starfury is bothered by Volari’s banging and humming, he makes no show of it, paying him no mind as he continues to scribble in his notepad.

Ellarious beams as the scene plays out in front of her. “It’s not every day that they don’t get on each other’s nerves,” she explains. “Especially in the morning.”

It’s around this time — almost noon now — that Ryllea Graywater, lead guitarist and vocalist, wakes and joins the group, heading straight towards Volari and the cup of coffee in his hand.

“Thanks,” she winks as she takes the cup from him, shooting Volari a shit-eating grin that he returns easily, already procuring another cup for himself.

It should be noted that Graywater doesn’t seem to talk to anyone until she’s had at least one cup of coffee, choosing instead to slide in beside Starfury in the dining booth, eyes darting towards the notepad he’s writing on. They kind of just... sit there, minding their own business amidst the chaos that is the rest of the bus.

(Volari’s launched into an animated story about the inspiration behind last year’s summer hit, “Contessa, Contessa”, but I can’t help being drawn to the more quiet story unfolding behind him in the dining booth.)

Slinging one arm against the backrest of Starfury’s seat, Graywater casually invites herself into his space, a thoughtful smile on her lips as she looks over the notepad in his hand. There’s an openness between them that tells me that this isn’t a new occurrence, a comfortable ease in the way they seem to be engaging in a wordless conversation.

“He’s kind of really private,” I recall the younger Starfury sibling, Adrina, telling me about his creative process years ago, at the release party for his collab album with then rumored girlfriend and writing partner Kaya Duskraven. “He’s always been a perfectionist. Doesn’t really let anyone other than Kaya hear anything until it’s finished.”

But there’s no trace of that here, in this quiet moment with Graywater, bright, almost triumphant smiles on their faces as she picks up a pen and scribbles something on the pad too, immediately tapping out a melody against the table as if to test-run it by Starfury.

The smile he gives her is glowing.

I look away — suddenly feeling like an intruder in their private moment — catching the tail-end of Volari’s Contessa story, right before Imtura (no publicly released surname) accidentally slams me against the wall when the bus makes a rocky turn.

“Oof, sorry there little guy.” She raises both hands in apology before heading straight for the coffee machine, haphazardly dumping its contents into a generous-sized mug before immediately proceeding to consume said coffee as she plunks onto the other end of the dining booth.

And that’s how the first morning of me shadowing BLADES goes.

Ellarious tells me I’m lucky it was a good one.

With over 16 years of experience under his belt, Tyril Starfury has been in the music and entertainment industry far longer than the rest of the BLADES members combined. At the tender age of nine, he won his first piano competition, regarded highly for his precision at such a young age. He would continue to play competitively until he discovers a new love — musical theater.

It’s no surprise that Starfury ends up on Broadway — he comes from a long line of revered artists, all of them regarded as geniuses of their time. Though some would argue that his family name opened doors that would otherwise be unavailable, no one could deny that it was his clear, soaring baritone and unrelenting work ethic that kept him on stage.

It’s on this stage that he met young Kaya Duskraven, an understudy in one of his shows, prompting a fruitful five-year partnership spanning two EPs and a mini-concert series, Stars in the Dusk.

(The name was a little on the nose, but the critics loved them all the same.)

The two shared such a comfortable rapport, on and off-stage, that they naturally sparked dating rumors — Starfury was always quick to deny them.

No one could have expected the partnership to end on such a bitter note.

To this day, no one knows the real reason behind their fallout — Starfury walked out in the middle of their televised performance without apology or explanation — though there have been no shortage of rumors and theories, a lot of them involving one Eleryn Rosecoven, better known in the industry as Shadow Court bassist dXenia.

I tried to bring it up once, after several bottles of beer have been consumed and the band is swapping stories over s’mores made over the tour bus stove.

I’ve never been shut out so fast in my life.

There’s an audible crack from the s’more now crushed in Imtura’s hand, her piercing amber eyes seemingly driving a death sentence into mine. Volari sighs disapprovingly (and dramatically) at me, and even Ellarious — friendly, cheery Nia — looks at me with a pointed glare, turning off the stove, signaling the end of s’mores night.

“I would prefer not to comment,” Starfury nods at me, years of practiced courtesy showing in his tone and all I want in that moment is for the earth to swallow me whole.

Graywater follows when he excuses himself from the group. Everyone else avoids me like the plague.

It’s hours later when Starfury and Graywater return to the bus — I pretend to have fallen asleep in the dining booth in hopes that I can avoid their fury until the morning — but Graywater approaches me with two cups of tea in hand, an unreadable expression on her face.

She slides over one cup to me — if the scalding temperature of the tea is intentional, she makes no obvious show of it.

“Look,” she begins with an exasperated sigh. “I know you’re only doing your job here. And we did agree to this article, so I’m sorry if things got a little tense back there.” She pauses, as if considering her next words carefully. “We’ve all lived moments in our lives that we’re not proud of. Tyril’s had to live his in front of the public eye. He’ll talk about it when he feels ready to... but his past doesn’t define him, none of ours do.”

I nod, understanding that this is the last we’ll speak of the subject. She smiles as if in truce, telling me that I don’t have to banish myself to the dining booth and that no one will pull any pranks on me if I sleep in the shared bedroom.

I barely catch any sleep anyway.

There’s a ferocity in the way they protect each other that I didn’t notice at first — it could be subtle sometimes, like in the way Volari always checks in with each of the band members every night before going to bed (even though Starfury usually brushes him off); or in the way Imtura always makes sure every one stays hydrated (feel free to interpret that however you wish, whichever way is true); or in the way Ellarious always has some form of baked good running in the oven, more often someone else’s favorite rather than her own.

(I learn the hard way that no one is allowed to get in between Imtura and her cupcakes. No one.)

It’s also plain as day whenever they’re on stage together, their set list a carefully curated show that highlights each member’s strengths without anyone getting overworked. Everyone’s always quick to catch each other whenever they hit snags along the road — there’s a moment in one of the shows when Volari’s mic suddenly gets cut off and Starfury swoops in without missing a beat, a small nod of the former’s head seemingly the only cue he needs, the trust between them implicit.

When I had asked earlier why he’d joined BLADES, Starfury simply shrugged, as if it was no big deal.

“It was by accident. I happened to be at one of their shows and they needed a bass player. We kind of just… worked and we’ve played together ever since.”

But this kind of chemistry doesn’t just happen by accident. No, this is the product of months and months of hard work, of opinions clashing and arguments spanning days before sitting down and realizing it’s not impossible to see eye to eye; it’s battles won and battles lost together, respect earned and trust merited.

To call them just another band seems too small a word almost. Insufficient.

They’re kind of like a family.

(If your typical family involved regular knife and axe-throwing contests, that is.

... it’s best not to ask.)

Tensions are high backstage at Deadwood Festival Grounds.

Volari has been pacing around non-stop. Ellarious looks like she’s using every bit of her willpower not to bite her fingernails. Imtura keeps violently tapping her drumsticks together. Starfury’s got his arms crossed in a corner, brows furrowed.

Graywater is doing a handstand for no apparent reason.

The anxiety is understandable — tonight’s a crucial moment for the band.

With only one more show before the grand finale at Whitetower Stadium, all the bands are doing their best to retain the crowd’s favor, each playing well-established fan favorites, saving the riskier song choices for the finale.

That is, everyone except BLADES.

They’re planning to debut two new songs tonight, both of which written solely by Starfury.

It’s a ballsy move on its own — no one’s exactly itching to drop the ball on their fans this close to the end — but add in the fact that Starfury hasn’t released any solo-written music since the Duskraven fallout and you’ve got the makings of a battle that could either go incredibly right or disastrously wrong.

Let’s back up a bit.

After the Duskraven breakup, Starfury had gone into something of a hiatus (if that’s what you call disappearing off the face of the entertainment industry) before dropping the 13-track self-written album, “Honor,” without prior notice or promotion. Fans were ecstatic to hear from him after his sudden break, but critics were less enthused, calling the album ‘a brash, arrogant attempt at flipping the metaphorical finger at Duskraven that ultimately falls short’, noting the clear absence of Duskraven’s touch in his music — all technicality, no soul.

Starfury’s penned a couple of songs with BLADES since, spanning genres as colorful and diverse as its writers, but there hasn’t been a solo venture since Honor, leaving long-time Starfury fans anxious to hear him take lead again.

Graywater calls everyone into a circle, locking eyes with Starfury as she gives his hand a squeeze.

She makes a speech that I‘m not privy to — but everyone is visibly more resolute after she speaks, each raising their fists to meet in the middle of the circle.

“I’m honored to be on this journey with you all,” I hear Starfury share, a glittering smile spreading on Volari’s lips at the statement.

“I knew you liked us!” he says, crossing the circle to throw an arm around Starfury’s shoulders, pulling him close.

“Group hug!” Ellarious laughs and Imtura closes the circle into a solid embrace.

Starfury appears to be in shock — as if this is the first time this has happened — but he recovers quickly, a quietly contented smile on his face.

The last streaks of daylight have disappeared by the time they’re called to stage, the crowd restless from a long afternoon under the blistering heat.

Darkness has fallen.

But then the opening chords to fan-favorite “Murderous Masquerade” cut through the evening air, a flurry of flashing lights bursting through the sky, and the Deadwood comes alive.

Volari takes center stage in his flashy black and gold ensemble, working the crowd with such ease that it’s no question why he’s been dubbed the band’s de facto showman — he’s frankly just mesmerizing to watch.

Next up is “The Priestess and the Warrior,” an epic tale crammed into four and a half minutes of heart-racing drum beats — provided by the insanely talented Imtura — with a tender piano-driven bridge near the close, Ellarious’ heartbreaking vocals driving the whole thing home.

Graywater takes lead in the third number, “Flirting with Monsters,” a delicate neo R&B number that sounds nothing like the title suggests, her earnest, airy vocals lulling you into a comfortable, almost dream-like state as she entices her lover to stay.

The one thing common between the seemingly weird mishmash of genres is Starfury’s steady bassline, providing a much needed thread of cohesion to the set list. Where Volari, Imtura, Graywater, and even Ellarious tackle their music with the raw aggression of fresh blood on stage, Starfury attacks with quiet, seasoned finesse, his expertise evident in tracks like “Watch your back (or I’ll watch it for you)” and “Drakna Queen” — two unconventionally energetic numbers that would be difficult to listen to live if not for Starfury’s sure hand bringing them harmony.

“Alright, we’re gonna slow things down for a bit,” Graywater announces, eyes sparkling with excitement as she looks at Starfury. “Tyril’s got a new song and we want you guys to be the first to hear it.”

By now, I’ve seen enough of Starfury’s performances to say that he’s not a nervous performer. Even in the earlier stages of his career, there was always a quiet assuredness about him — which could have also been easily called arrogance — and while that’s still present now, there’s something different about the way he interacts with the crowd, a sense of humility present in the way he put his hands together and gives them a brief bow before he sits himself in front of the piano.

“I would like to dedicate this to a person very special to me,” he begins, his fingers gentle on the keys, a soft, lilting melody dancing in the air.

(He’s not even the least bit subtle about the way he looks at Graywater.)

“She has reminded me, time and again, that hope and love, when we allow it, can shine the brightest light in the dark.” Graywater shakes her head as if to shrug in nonchalance, but she meets his eyes dead on, her smile beaming with pride.

Turning to the crowd, Starfury adds, “I hope this gives you as much joy as you’ve given me. This one’s called ‘Kilvali.’”

For the next minute, it’s just Starfury and the piano, the world quiet as his voice fills the air. If there was ever any doubt that Starfury had lost his vocal prowess, there wouldn’t be any now. His voice is clear and strong — reaching even the farthest row of people on the music grounds — albeit with a softness now that I’ve never heard from him before, his attachment to his music feeling infinitely more personal.

“All my moments with you are worth whatever pain that came before,” he sings, his voice soaring as the rest of the band join him in the second verse. The performance is even more powerful with the added instrumentation.

Tiny cellphone flashlights illuminate the crowd as they sway their hands in time to the song, the emotion in Starfury’s voice rolling out in waves.

Twitter user @notmxwllbmnt13 sums it up nicely:

(It really was beautiful.)

The crowd cheers as the song draws to a close, but the battle’s not over yet (as Starfury would tell me himself later) — the true test lying in whether or not his second song proves a testament to his newfound voice in songwriting… or if it’s just a one-time stroke of luck.

“If it’s alright with you, we’d like to play you another new one,” he says and the applause is deafening when he turns over the mic to Volari, the latter pulling him into a one-armed hug before taking to the crowd.

If Duskraven’s interviews post-breakup are to be believed, Starfury has never — not once — written a song that wasn’t intended for himself. (She claimed to have co-written plenty of solos for Starfury, but he allegedly never returned the favor.) A quick glance at his repertoire would make this allegation appear true.

“It is true,” he tells me simply when I bring it up later in the tour bus. (Despite the coolness of his voice, I notice him shift a little in his seat.) “I was... unconfident, extending my words to other artists like that. I was also prideful and arrogant — afraid to face the judgment and criticism of my peers, and for that, I truly am sorry to Kaya. She deserved better from me as a partner.”

It seems Starfury has taken that incident to heart. Listening to “Purple Dreams” with Volari’s teasing falsetto on the forefront, it becomes clear that Starfury wrote this with the former’s vocals in mind, the flirtatious mix of his sassy vocal riffs and playful onstage antics giving the song a delicious, intoxicating energy.

It’s probably the most experimental I’ve heard from Starfury as a writer, both in terms of lyricism and melody.

“I’ve learned a lot this last year, creating music with BLADES,” he explains. “Not only did I find a new perspective on songwriting thanks to them, but my bandmates also gave me the courage to try things outside of my comfort zone and to allow myself to make mistakes. They inspire me.”

Years ago, he was dubbed as stiff and awkward outside of the theater stage, with Duskraven providing all the charm in their partnership, but now, on stage with BLADES — as Volari points his sultry gaze at him, singing his own lyrics to him — Starfury smirks, leaning ever so slightly against the showman as his hands tease along the guitar strings, driving the crowd wild.

It’s clear by the end of the song that Starfury has won over the crowd, and for once, he actually seems to revel in it, his smile beaming as he takes in the applause.

The rest of the band are even more thrilled for him, each leaving their posts to engulf him in another hug.

He doesn’t hesitate this time, allowing the fond gesture in front of their adoring crowd, each of them savoring the quiet moment, and I think, out of all the times I’ve seen Starfury on stage, this has to be my favorite version of him.

In the company of his friends, lifting and supporting each other, Tyril Starfury shines brighter than any star.

“We haven’t talked about what we’re doing after yet,” Starfury admits when I ask him about the future of BLADES after Morella Fest. (Each of the members are also solo artists in their own right, after all.) “But whatever happens at the end of the tour, we’ll always have each other, regardless of whether the band continues or not. I can’t imagine my life without these people now and I hope I never have to.”

He’s smiling as he says this, watching his bandmates fight over the last levenfruit before he excuses himself to join them, Graywater and Ellarious easily making space for him in the dining booth, Volari and Imtura rounding out the little world that now seems completely their own.

you never properly explained your family’s history with bowling and i demand answers

okay see this is what i need because we all know that i have pretty bad ADHD, and i wanted to do this and keep forgetting so here it is, the family history of bowling. this somehow became 1100 words. i hope everyone’s happy. i hope everyone’s proud

so first of all i BELIEVE my mother’s dad was in a local bowling league. when i say bowling league, i mean a bunch of italian american men hanging out at a bowling alley in the 70s, absolutely smoking cigarettes indoors, which i think personally is the way bowling was meant to be experienced

in high school my dad was a stoner and again, the 70s, a time with literally no rules for white people, which i guess is like now, but the legal drinking age in america was still 18 and that’s i think the only difference ANYWAY

listen i’ll level with you. i’m not sure my dad ever went to classes. like my dad is smart enough that he could doing passingly well despite skipping, constantly, i dont know in the 70s did they just let you toke up in class? it seems like they did. everyone had a bowl haircut also

anyway so if you attended public school in the united states, federal law mandates that if you’re able-bodied you have to have gym class, k-12. and like by the time i was in hs gym call was like, done in 5 different classes you’d take throughout the year and some of them were like, go work out in the weight room. some of them were yoga. seniors get first pick of the gym classes obviously so i didn’t get to take “elementary games” until then which is when they let you do all the fun things you’d do in like a 3rd grade gym class, but you’re not in third grade, you’re 17 years old and you are so fucking tired

also, yes, you do have to change for gym class,,, private schools if they have gym will usually have gym uniforms to go with the regular uniforms but again i went to public school it was soffe shorts with the oversized shirt and also, i’ve had the same pair of “running” sneakers for literally 15 years because i’m... not a runner... those are my gym shoes,,, and yes i have been the same shoe size since i was 12 we don’t need to go into it

OKAY BOWLING. so no idea what gym was like in the 70s tbqh, but my dad and i DID go to the same high school just 32 years apart and some of the gym teachers my dad had were STILL there. this was not great for me as my dad i think maybe never went to gym class once in his entire high school career to the point where in 1978, a time where people really just let anything happen, the high school was like okay listen you need gym credit or you’re not graduating

so the high school at that point still had a bowling alley and they were like okay just come after school every day and bowl for a month and you’ll graduate and like. in MY day if you missed gym class they made you “run” laps. i put run in quotes because once you hit that age where you realize gym teachers can’t actually make you do anything, they’ll just be slightly beleaguered when you refuse to run the mile, every year, twice a year, 8 times, me, i did this, because as long as you get the mile done it counts! watch me walk at a moderate pace bitch

anyway my dad bowled after school with all his stoner friends that also needed gym credit and because he’s an early birthday (february) he could legally buy beer and like, you’d think the gym teacher supervising them would be like hey i know you’re legal but this is school property. i think the mistake i’m making here is assuming they had supervision when i know they didn’t

additionally my parents took me and my sister up to MA for like a solid month every year until i went to college and then my parents just started going themselves bc they were like, if rachel is in the house it doesnt count as child abandonment LATER but anyway

of course when you have kids in 2001 and only the 1 family computer you must take them bowling there is nothing else to do it is massachusetts and nothing can grow here so the bowling alley they took us to was candlepin bowling which is like. a weird form of bowling that according to google only occurs in canada and new england. the pins are much narrower and like 1 cylindrical shape and the ball is hand-sized like a bocce ball. anyway my dad is still pretty good at bowling and my mom is super competitive so the fact that she wasn’t better than him at bowling,,,, an experience

fun fact my parents once got my sister and me a bocce ball/croquet set up and let me tell you, i have never once not cheated at a game of croquet. it’s how i’m so good at it bay bee

also in the 5th grade i asked a boy on a “group date” to the cool new like, mall thing that had a movie theater and bowling alley and let me tell you, this bitch was the TALK of the town. that guy was so nice but he had such severe depression i think we were accidentally at a party together during a college winter or summer break and he was like yeah i was really going through it and i was like huh. i’m not going to address my trauma but good for you

so. he found a bowling ball at the lanes and he did really well and so he was like hey can i buy this and they were like honestly that’s an old fucking ball keep it then he won another bowling ball. he is informing he he won bowling competitions when he was a child?!?!? he goes to union and “”””accidentally””” befriends a bunch of bowling nerds. hold on he’s really going OFF about how good he is at bowling. what have you done. when he transferred to penn state they had a monthly bowling night

and he’s like so there’s this girl named [redacted] and she bet me $20 i couldn’t get all the pins if i bowled underhand through my legs and i got a SPARE and she never gave me $20 anyway she messaged me like 7 or 8 months ago bc she had a student that she thought i could talk to and i showed him the video of me getting that spare and he showed it to her and she never contacted me again
