Summary: You try and tell yourself that you didn't lose the love of your life, you just have to keep believing that... But why is the alternate letting you believe your own lie?

A/N: Down the rabbit hole I go, I guess. I wanted to explore this idea so here, I probably won't be writing for the Mandela Catalogue again tho - I won't be taking requests.

(I also again do not have a blog for this, so I'm just posting it on my main.)

When you came to see Cesar, worried about his lack of correspondence, you didn't even consider the alternates as an obstacle. There would be nothing getting in the way of you seeing him. Come hell or high water.

Bursting into the nearly empty house, you called his name over and over in search. Close to sobbing at the stabbing of anxiety every second you went on without knowing of he was okay.

Cesar's voice was low when it called to you, quiet as your name came from the end of the dark hallway.

You sprinted towards him without hesitation, arms swinging ariund his body. Enough to make him stumble and grunt in surprise.

Sobbing into his neck, you whisper, "I'm so happy..."

He was motionless before he cradled you in his arms.

You knew then that he wasn't Cesar.

Not quite anyway.

His voice would distort and shake between his sweet nothings.

His form, while sharing his face, was different depending on the day.

He'd come back smelling like blood.

But he always came back, always spent his time with you. Reciprocating your affections and "sleeping" in your arms, taking the time to run out to get supplies and make sure the house was stocked.

His laugh was the same, his voice was still gentle as it spoke to you.

He cradled you in his arms like you two were the only people in the world.

He still wasn't your Cesar Torres.

Just a monster wearing his skin.

It was nice to pretend.

But one winter night, tucked in the chest of the thing you knew killed the man you loved...

"I know you're not actually him." You whisper, staring at the swirling darkness at the edges of the room.

Still sleepy, even as the being behind you twitched.

"What do you mean?"

He almost sounded... Nervous.

"I know you're an alternate... I've known this whole time, the minute I heard you speak." You were so tired "... Why did you play along? Let me pretend?"

There was silence, oppressive and heavy. Lanky arms, that were much too powerful, curled tighter around your body.

In the whole of your heart, you couldn't call him an it.

His voice was fragmented, others interspersed between his soft tones.

"I was curious."

"Knew humans do a lot for their loved ones."

"Wanted to see why he loved you so much."

"Wanted to experience what it was like to be loved."

There was an extended silence and the whispers quieted.

"Cesar's" voice came, lips pressed to your ear. His voice was quiet, "Do you still love me?"

You peer into the shadows, your eyes welling with tears. Feeling very alone at the prospect of being left, arms like a vice around you. But he's still here.

He hasn't let go.

You would not cave to dying at your own hands.

Not when you seeked out the answer.

He knew that.

You turn.

His eyes were black as the void, dark and deep.

Your fingers curled around his cheek.

"Are you going to leave if I tell you that I do?" Your voice shook, fingers sweeping through his dark hair.

He shut his eyes, seemingly enjoying the feeling. Sighing quietly, though he is not breathing anymore. As there was no need to do it for show now thst you knew.

"No." His lashes were as dark and pretty as his hair having used photos to make sure he was close as he could be. "I don't think I can anymore."

Lips still soft as he kissed you, murmuring against your mouth. "You're mine now dearest lamb... I won't let you be taken by anything else. Other humans... My own kind... No one, not even yourself."

You whimpered against his lips but it's stamped out as he kissed you deeper, pressing you into the mattress.

"You've given... me a taste of love, made me... burn for you." He said in reverence, voice stalling occasionally "... I love you the way he did."

His face twisted a bit above you, stretching the features of the man you adored into frightening proportions. Smile stretched wide across his face.

"Will you still call me Cesar, dearest?... Can you still love me knowing I am not him?"

You peer at him.

Unafraid.

Just seeing this bastardized version of him should have broken you.

Should have driven you MAD, finally ready to run instead into the arms of death to see an afterlife with the real Cesar.

In the end, you fell in love with this creature.

All because he donned your boyfriend's face.

Cesar, the real one, might curse your name until you died and went to hell. For falling for the creature that killed him and wore his skin.

But as you lived and breathed, it was still love.

Your hands wound around his neck and you kissed his grotesque features, peppering his face.

He sunk into your affections like a cat.

You only smile.

"Do you have another name? Or will just petnames suffice?"

His cold, thin fingers stroke away your tears while his face morphed back into familiar territory.

"... Keep calling me Cesar until we'll pick a new name together."

You hummed, gently drawing him back under the covers. Body curling comfortingly around you.

Protective.

Solid.

... In the end, you still get to be with the man you loved more than anything so you were happy.

And now... So was he.

Bunny laoshi’s 1005 birthday CPNs Part II 🎂🎉

part one is here. this covers xz studio’s birthday video and all the clownery that came with it. this day is truly for celebration and i hope all of us are gonna have a good day~

a conversation that’s kinda loud is where the first part of the video was shot, and more importantly, when. because compared to the other sections of the edit, it appears to be his personal time that was added in. and the rest, with them taking photos, those are deliberately for the birthday material.

I thought this was somewhere in IM too, but it’s actually in Beijing. It’s confirmed by the photo he shared on his weibo. The place is at Lianquan Xianggu Natural Scenic Area Tiangong Cave📍Huairou District, Beijing. There are “reviews” from people who visited and said : “Highly recommended as a great place to get close to nature. There are very few people and there are many routes to choose from. No matter what your physical level, you can play!”

So i guess it makes sense for ZZ to visit. But when was this? I’m seeing 2 speculations on when this could have been. However the common denominator is that WYB was with him in this trip. It’s a place where they will not be recognized that much and no crowds.

OPTION NUMBER 1 : September

The theory is simply lining up the date when they were both in Beijing. GG allegedly went back to Beijing on 9/23 to 9/27 for work. Since he has other commitments other than shooting the movie. If you remember, he had a couple of livestreams and shoots. His schedule lined up with WYB who had no public itinerary on 9/26-9/27. So this could be the time window when they went hiking & exploring. Maybe WYB had his camera with him too and they both took pictures.

OPTION NUMBER 2 : August

This one has more clues to it and the guess is 8/14-8-15 which is free time for both of them. 8/13 was also when the mysterious driver was spotted so there’s that. The one who restored the cake mentioned to count the number of the sheep and it should be 32. Also it’s called something like a Beijing Camping cake and the plan for it ( with photos ) was shared 8/15 since this person didn’t know it’s for XZ. However the“original” one who made the concept is from Hangzhou which I already talked about. There are also posts from other people way before this material came out that they did see XZ around that time in the area. Remember there are some parts of LOCH done in Beijing. Tho they said that the filming site was very strict and closed off.

So anyway, I really believe that this was some sort of a joint celebration for them even it’s not 1005. I mean, why would his cast mates celebrate it with him that early??? Unless they both know that the two of them will be busy in the next couple of weeks so why not celebrate it now. While we’re out here camping 🏕️

This photo too, when i first saw it i expected for the XZS bday edit to have the scene where they sang for him. BUT NO. They shared a different “birthday moment”. I’m looking at this and thinking — maybe they didn’t want to share this private moment. They are aware of how eagle eyed CPFs can put things together and notice stuff with photos, all the more in a video. I’m leaning more towards the fact that it’s private and they wanna keep this between.

We could all be wrong about this. As with all CPNs, more clues come out as the days & months go by.

Moving on….

Is this the new favorite mini fan? LOL. I mean the CQL couple fan they have will always have a special place but it’s nice to see him have some “upgrade”.

We are seeing that again! P1 and P3 are a nod to how the sunrise is seen from the space station. P2 which is from XZS video looks like it’s a nod to that too but in a different way.

The whole feel of the vlog too, some of the cuts have that “Like The Sunshine” vibe to it. It’s a common reaction from some turtles, especially if you put the lyrics side by side with some of the stills. You can easily cut the scenic shots and use LTS as the background music and it will fit.

I mean, if you clown hard enough I bet you can connect everything to a candy. But the topics I’ve mentioned here are what’s mostly talked about.

Mane 6 redesigns - mlpfim fanart

I made these a good while ago and thought hard about them but no-one cared at the time coz it wasn't a trend but now it is for some reason so I guess I'm gonna try reposting lol -v-'

Twilight

This is basically my concept for "what if twilight was like an actual nerd?".

i gave her freckles/acne and glasses coz they are typical nerdy things. i think they look super cute on her tho ^w^. i got rid of her highlights in her hair coz (even tho it is probably meant to be natural in the show) nerds dont have time for adding highlights to their hair. her hair is also shorter to make it look more like the kind of practical hair cut girl nerds often have. she is wearing her comfy clothes coz she wants to be cozy when studying and doesnt care how she looks. she is wearing her favourite nerdy fluffy socks with her fav star constellations on them (i only know the big dipper lol -v-'). she is also wearing her comfy grey plain hoodie. for some reason every nerd seems to have a plain grey hoodie. it has spare pens in the pockets to.

she has a different cutiemark here which is basically my concept for what her cutiemark might have been if she wasn't the fated leader of the elements of harmony. it represents her studious personality and her love of stars. I also gave her a big backpack stuffed full of supplies. i can attest to the fact that studious students never have enough equipment and our bags look like this XD. it is an old but sturdy bag which has even been patched up but still going. there is a pink ruler sticking out coz everyone seemed to have those pink rulers when i was at school lol.

Every badge on this bag actually is meant to have a specific subject although its hard to see so small. now i will go through each one. Top left green one with dark blue what looks like an animal is a picture of an Ursa Minor. Brown one top right is a man holding a bow ancient etching on a cave wall picture. Big blue one is obviously more star constellations. Bottom right is a fire so hot the flame is blue. Right middle one is a skull. Middle brown and green one is an abandoned church structure. Bottom middle blue one is the Milky Way. Bottom left is a nerdy funny quote. Middle green one I actually don’t remember what it was meant to be anymore. I’m gonna day it is a rare plant tho coz that makes sense I think it was something like that. It might have also been an old weapon artefact as I remember that being one of my ideas at the time. Brown middle left was a catapult shooting a melon.

Applejack

This one is simpler than the last one. I already really like applejacks design and I had less ideas but I still like this. First things first, I think it would be more fitting if Applejack was a different species of pony. Here I have her as more of a wild pony which is hairier. I have her hair as rougher and shorter coz a farmer realistically would definitely not have long hair as it would get in the way of work. That has always been something that annoys me. Her hair in the show does look very nice but it just makes no sense. I didn’t change her cutiemark much coz her cutiemark from Pony Life is almost perfect. I just changed the shape of the leaf a little bit. I did add a speckled spot on her thigh around it tho. This is reminiscent of another species of horse and I think it adds a little more detail to make her look nice. It also matches her freckles on her face.

Speaking of her freckles, I added more all over her face and ears coz anyone with freckles will know it doesn’t usually stay in one pretty place on the cheeks. I think she looks cuter this way to be honest. She has cheeks which are a little chubby which makes her look younger than she actually is. Some people have a baby face for a longer time than most and idk but I felt this fit. She looks super cute and I love it. She has a hole in one ear which makes her look a little more imperfect and it shows her tough side. It’s a scar left from her tough working days in the past. Finally, I changed her hat. Yes I know. Probably people are going to hate me for this and I do like the hat but I always felt it was a little too stereotypical. So I gave her another hat which is often used in farming; a sunhat. I think this looks nice on her as well.

Fluttershy

Yes I made a lot of changes here. I started off just wanting to draw her with braids and flowers and longer legs like her childhood self but then I thought she looked more like a deer. Tbh I prefer her as a deer coz it makes more sense. Deers are very skittish and timid so it makes perfect sense for Fluttershy. I like the little tail puff to coz it’s just so cute. Several people have drawn Fluttershy with flowers in her hair and she has even done it in the show. It makes perfect sense to me for her to have lovely flowers, seeds, twigs and saplings in her hair all the time if she is in nature all the time.

Braids make more sense to me for Fluttershy coz long hair not tied up is going to get in the way and braids take a long time but is relaxing to do. I can imagine Fluttershy just slowly and calmly enjoying making her braids in the morning. I also changed her cutiemark to an animal paw. I have always thought this would make more sense for her cutiemark although I do like the butterflies to don’t get me wrong. I have tried 2 different sets of colours here but really I had many different ideas for different combinations of these colours. What colours would you use? Which of these do you prefer? Let me know Btw she does have wings still but it’s hard to see them behind the braids.

Pinkie

It’s alpaca Pinkie! yeah I just thought it would be more fitting for her to be another animal considering I already did it for Fluttershy. Pinkie is the weird one so it makes sense if she is also a completely different species and not a very common one. Plus alpacas are friendly, like to bounce and fluffy so it’s perfect in my eyes.

She has a buck tooth coz that makes her seem more cute and imperfect which fits her personality. She has very puffy hair coz I kinda hate how Pinkie has those nonsensical curls at the ends when her hair is supposed to be super curly and puffy. Curly puffy hair just doesn’t work that way.

She has confetti stuck in her hair coz I mean puffy hair is hard to clean and she has parties all the time so it makes sense. she also has colourful spots which match the colours of the balloons in her cutiemark. A spotty colourful pattern just makes sense for bubbly party Pinkie.

I actually decided to make her a unicorn to but you can’t see her horn coz she is so fluffy. I mean she is constantly doing weird and magical things so why isn’t she a unicorn?! It also makes sense people would think she is strange coz they can’t see her horn.

Last but not least, I like her cutiemark in the show but why does it have to be 3 separate balloons when balloons are often together anyway? So I grouped them together to make one big cutiemark instead and I think it looks better. What do you think?

Rainbow

I couldn’t do much with this one coz rainbow dash is already perfect. I tried some ideas here tho and I still like the results. It’s good in its own way.

I basically focused on the sporty side of rainbow dash here as you can probably tell. I made her thicker with strong cheek bones like an actual sporty person. I also gave her sweatbands coz of course she should be wearing those if she is doing sports all the time.

I gave her shorter hair coz they get in the way when doing sports and gave her the hair she has in pony life coz it just looks better sorry not sorry.

Anyone else always bothered by the fact her hair has half of it one o half of the colours and the other half the other half of the colours? Originally her hair had red, orange and yellow on top of her head and green, blue and purple on the hair on the back of her head. I just always felt that was weird so I made her tail and head have all the colours instead.

I also thought it was always a missed opportunity with the wings to not have them rainbow feathers like this. I mean why not?! It’s perfect!

I am really happy with her new cutiemark. I kept the rainbow and lightning bolt but made it have a football in instead. She’s into football in equestrian girls so this made sense to me and I love how the design came out. What do you think?

Last but not least I even designed an accessory for her. Of course it’s not fashionable or anything. It’s just a water bottle she carries around with her to make sure she stays hydrated when exercising. Hydration is important!

Rarity

At first I had no idea how to redesign rarity coz she is already pretty dang perfectly designed for her personality. But then I had the idea of making her older and more experienced with life kinda like a fashionista which has had kids or a cougar.

So here she is. She is no longer a unicorn but an earth pony instead. I never thought she needed magic tbh. She still wants to look pretty but her fashion sense is not great and she instead is just wearing bits and bobs of things she likes which don’t go together.

Her hair is shorter as she has less time to clean and maintain it and she wants to show off her accessories more anyway. She had a handbag which is a mixture between nice looking and big so it’s practical to use.

She has purple lipstick (just in case you can’t tell coz it is kinda hard to see). I also tried giving her a different eye colour which I think still looks nice on her and is more fitting of this version of her design.

I also gave her a different cutiemark. I do like her cutiemark but it doesn’t really relate to her love of fashion much and didn’t seem fitting to my design so I made this one for her. It’s a heart which represents her generosity and it wears a hat and and an earring which represents her love of fashion. What do you think? I love this cutiemark design personally.

The accessories are pretty self explanatory but just in case (coz I’m bad at drawing objects -v-') I’m gonna explain some of them. There is a pearl necklace with a nice big green gem. There is a gold bracelet with small red gems in it.

She is wearing earrings which are supposed to be green and blue opals. It was hard to get them to look like opals do with different colours merged together but I think I ended up with a pretty good result. It’s more green and murky than I intended tho. It also was difficult coz of how small it is. Any tips for how to make something look like that?

okay DANG the GOLEM tho (caves of qud late game spoilers below)

first off, the decision to bury this mechanic so late in the game is fucking wild. like theres nowhere else to put it but god DAMN how could you not make like half of your game about this!! its incredible. its so crunchy and strange, so so qud, and so particular in the best way art can be

and then what it does to progression... at this point the levelups come really slow, and your build is pretty much set. youre at about the highest tier gear possible. you have a bunch of recoilers, youve been to all the regions... what do you do next? well you use all your knowledge and power to gather stuff for your golem! you open up a whole new avenue of customizability with a totally different set of challenges. can you reliably get a limb off of a creature whose mutations you want? where can you get high-level followers? i mean being able to access mutations unavailable at character creation is crazy! crungling gaze! lithifying gaze!

and i guess the real revelatory bit for me is its a second round of character creation!! creating a character is one of the most exciting parts of the game for me, but it sucks to have to start over from level 1. well here we have a reward for getting this far, you get to create another character out of all the stuff you did with your first character! its... kind of a form of metaprogression?? in a traditional roguelike??? fucking masterpiece of game design. incredible

okay okay wait woozi requests. woozi who originally sleeps in different rooms when youre dating but one day you have a nightmare and all you want is to cuddle him..

nightmares with woozi! ✧˖°.

"goodnight, jihoon," you say, smiling at him as he leaves

"night, y/n," he replies before shutting your bedroom door. "sleep well."

you both just watched a scary action movie that jihoon was interested in, and to be honest, you were still on-edge about it

it was a good movie, don't get me wrong, but it was quite scary, and it made you jump on multiple occasions

jihoon would laugh at you every time you did jump, but he did put his arm around your shoulders after a bit to calm you down

and now he's gone, leaving you in your room alone with your afterthoughts from the movie

of course, he isn't far away. he's in the bedroom right next to yours, where he usually sleeps

you both decided on that decision since (1) you both enjoyed your privacy, and (2) you were still somewhat newly dating

he works really late into the night, too, so instead of disturbing you while you sleep, it was best in hindsight for him to have his own room in the house

but tonight was different

you laid in the silence of your room, buried under the covers, staring into the darkness

you couldn't help but think, since the movie was based on real-life events, that maybe it could happen to you

you fall asleep but are met immediately by a nightmare! you jolt awake, breathing heavily

after a while of you trying to go back to sleep and debating on what to do, you finally cave and text jihoon

you: hey, are you still awake?

he replies right away

jihoon: yup, about to go to sleep tho

jihoon: you okay?

you: i can't sleep

jihoon: was the movie too scary? hehe

you: no! i just can't sleep >:(

you get out of bed, walking out of the room swiftly to avoid the darkness into jihoon's room where his monitors were still shining brightly

"i can play some music for you to relax to before you go back to bed," he says, scrolling through his playlists

you had a different idea, though

"jihoon, can i just... stay here tonight?"

the idea didn't even cross his mind, to be honest

"like, sleep together?"

"like next to each other, yes," you counter carefully

he debates and finally responds with, "i mean, i guess. why not? we're dating."

he plays some music on his speakers before laying down in his bed

you follow and lay down on the other side of the bed

you're both just awkwardly laying next to each other, staring at the ceiling

"what do you want me to do now?" he asks, shifting awkwardly

"nothing, this is good," you say, getting comfortable. "goodnight."

"goodnight."

and you fall asleep again, only to be met with another nightmare!

you jolt awake in a cold sweat, trying to catch your breath

jihoon jolts up, too, reaching towards you to check if you're okay

"hey, hey, it's alright, you're okay. what happened?" he asks, turning on a lamp

"another nightmare..," you say, sighing

"you should've told me to stop the movie if it was too scary"

"it was a good movie, though"

"really?"

"can we cuddle?"

"what?"

"i'm really scared... if that happened to me, i don't know what i would do... how would i protect myself?"

he shakes his head, a small grin on his face

"come here, dummy," he says, opening his arms

you move into his arms, one arm under your neck, and the other wrapped around your body

"is this better? i'll protect you like this," he says, mainly as a joke

you laugh, shyly snuggling into him. "thank you, ji"

he hums. "you're lucky i love you," he says.

"i am"

and you sleep well for the rest of the night in his embrace ♡

Last night I had the weirdest dream but it would make a really good fic if I'm fr. The only part I remember vividly is the part where Tails fell into a cave, I guess it's more like the ground opened under him and swallowed him whole lol. So obvs his friends start looking for him after he doesn't make it to where they're all supposed to meet up at.

Kitsunami (who was very much not part of the search party) ends up accidentally finding him after finding a different entrance to the cave, except instead the ground opening up under him he finds the actual entrance. The ground ends up being super slippery so instead of just having a normal time, he falls, and ends up somehow tumbling all the way to the bottom of the cave.

Now from this part of the dream on I only had access to whatever Kit was seeing for whatever reason. He finds Tails pretty quickly, even tho he didn't know he was even lost and they end up having to work together to get out. This cave system was super weird too, it was a bottom layer that had water up to their knees, a higher layer that was essentially an ocean, an upper layer that was desolate but an actual maze, and then there was ground level. Maybe that's just how caves work but I don't think it is.

So this whole dream is dark, Tails had a flashlight that helped a little. They escaped the bottom layer by chipping into the ice above them to get into the ocean layer. (Unrealistic note, the water did not flood in, it just stayed at the top and they had to jump to get up there lol) How did they breathe here? I don't remember ! I do remember there being little bits of land they could walk on tho, and the only reason I remember that is bc at one point Tails had this scary ass look on his face that I can literally only describe as fear incarnate, but he wouldn't let me(kit) turn around to look at what made him look like that, so I have no clue what he saw and he acted completely off for the rest of the dream too. (<- this is common for me when I have nightmares, people in dreams tend to direct me away from the scary things and not let me look at them, but I suppose after having only nightmares for 4 years your brain has to protect itself somehow lol)

After the water layer they got to the dry layer, I don't really remember a lot from this. My most vivid memory is Tails pulling Kit out of the water with a queasy look on his face, there's a few moments of walking I remember, but nothing really interesting.

Then they were out of the cave, once again from a completely different entrance, then I don't know lol. I know Sonic and Amy show up but past that I have no clue, after that I started dreaming about school.

Some visual cave representation for you bc I remember this so clearly, I literally got up, unplugged my phone, and immediately started typing this.

Bottom layer

But instead of just rock, imagine a mix of solid white ice, crystal, and rock, and also it's really really REALLY dark lol. It's over all just a confined, claustrophobic space. There's barely enough room for the two to fit in there standing up, im sure if Sonic was there he would have to crouch

Middle layer

I have a huge fear of large bodies of water, as well as caves, as well as the dark. This contains all three. As I stated there were obviously air pockets somewhere around here but def don't remember how they got there lol

Top layer

Keep in mind, it's still WAY darker than this lol, but this is the last layer before the surface. Just a giant maze of rock and maybe a few crystals, very backrooms core lol.

Played Portal revolution

It was good cooking, but should've stayed in the Pan for a little longer and had a little too much salt.

The Good Parts:

Stirling and Emilia are very funny. I liked their dialogues and interactions, as well as their designs.

Stirling felt very much like Wheatley, Virgil, and Nigel, while also being demonstrably different and personable.

Emilia was unique and I enjoyed hearing about her backstory, as well as the fact she's very human, which makes sense.

I like the the Player Character's design.

The first Dual Portal device looks really cool, the exposed wires, the cracked glass, the scaffolding beneath the cover being exposed are all very good. The Jiggle Physics on the loose prong at the front was a nice touch.

The Second was a nice Red color, and the new portal colors were cool. It looked nice as well.

Being able to be outside was a nice change of pace, you know, being able to see that sun and the sky.

The Added mechanics of the Breaker Switches was really cool, and it made sense - the Aerial Faith Plates and such turning off when there was no power was interesting.

The Linked Weighted Pivot Cubes were also very cool, and was a very much appreciated new mechanic.

Bringing the Pipes in as part of it was fun. I always liked their designs.

The Bad parts

We spent too little time with Stirling and Emilia, the amount of time we spent with the one-portal device felt excessive (I Audibly said "No Shit" when Stirling made the Quip about finally finding the Dual portal device) and I think having us change between the Red and Broken ones wasn't necessary - it was neat, but I feel like we should've had just one, because then it would've been our only constant ally when we would be separated from the Cores, as well as making the use of the portal Guns seem less special, given we find just a random working one.

What is Stirling plan? Bring Glados Back, and try to mitigate the damage she does to Aperture and the Humans and Cores inside of it? Glados started this (well Cave did, but semantics) She was killing Test subjects, and the one that survived had to kill her to survive. Maybe he's just scared of seeing his home fall apart so he takes his anger out on Chell, even though He's working to save it and put a killer on the throne.

The mechanics I mentioned above (Breaker Switch, linked Cubes, Pipes) were severely under utilized, especially when in the boss fight, it would've been so cool to have to use them to take out turrets and launch blocks and turn of certain sections of the Spire to traverse!

Some of the writing felt off? Like, Stirling presents the dangers of everything with way too much forwardness. he should've said something more like "Yeah try not to stand under that too long, You'll just make a Mess. I mean, who would guess skin would stick to panels so hard after sloughs off from that stuff."

Emilia is too smart for how human she is, which does break the immersion a little bit, and she doesn't freak out nearly enough for what happened to her. I think her voice is too clear as well, and should've had a filter on it.

Also there was a fair bit of Map Geometry that hindered movement an awful lot, getting stuck on random unseen objects and not being able to jump properly.

And the ending is Disappointing. In Portal you get out, and are dragged back in. in Portal 2 you get out. In PS: Mel, you get out, with Virgil is genuinely sad you have to leave. Nigel's a little bitch and kills you even if you extinguish the fire.

no matter what you do in Revolution, the Spire Blows, you're critically injured and on the moon. Presumably you do survive given you see stuff happening and Hear the record Emilia left, so either there's a sequel in the works, or it's just disappointing.

So I suppose I should give it the benefit of the doubt since you get dragged back in in Portal, but that was changed after Portal 2 came out I'm pretty sure.

TL;DR

There's a lot of little things I like, a few big things I thought were interesting.

There's some stuff I would've loved to see more of, some questions unanswered as of writing this.

There are a few things I disliked, but none of it ruined the game. I had fun, and will likely play again.

It felt oddly exposing, setting up to shoot a target with Joel’s eyes on you, examining everything you were doing. It was harder to think straight this way, the feeling of his gaze seeping into your stance. 

You swallowed, hard, and shot. The bullet went wide, landing on the hay bale that Bill had set up at one point in time to practice. 

“Here,” Joel came up behind you. “Both hands.”

He guided your grip on the weapon and adjusted your arms. 

“Open your stance up a bit”

He nudged your feet apart, putting his leg between your own. You could feel him there behind you. He smelled good, freshly showered, his hair slicked back. Your first instinct was to bury your nose in his neck and breathe him in, fill your lungs and blood with him until there was nowhere else left for him to go.

“Keep both eyes open, don’t squint.” 

He kept his hands below your biceps. You took a shaky breath. 

“Don’t be nervous,” he said. “Just a target.” 

“Not nervous,” you muttered. 

“Feel nervous.”

“You just don’t know how I feel anymore,” you said before thinking better of it.

He laughed once.

“Guess not. When you’re ready.”

DIRECTOR'S COMMENTARY TIME!

This is such a great moment to me, it's kind of the foundation for this new journey for Joel and Doc. Their relationship is in a totally different space than it's ever been before. For a decade and a half, it was all on Joel's terms. He was the one who decided they couldn't be together, he was the one who decided he didn't want to even know her anymore, he was the one who decided who they were to each other and Doc tried to live within that standard without being in too much pain and not hurting him.

But, after the Andrew incident outside the QZ, things changed. Joel had been wearing down for a while - trying to emotionally disentangle yourself from the love of your life when they haven't done anything wrong and would take you back in an instant if you even glanced in their direction will do that to you - but so had Doc. There was only so much she could take from him before it broke her and he'd pushed her to that point. By this time in the story, she still loves him - she's resigned herself to always being in love with him - but has washed her hands of him as much as someone can while being in love with someone else. She's done pursuing a connection with him, she's done holding out any kind of hope and she's decided that she's not going to just let him use her because that's what she thinks their relationship has been for him all this time. That she was convenient, something he could have when he wanted and put down when he was done over and over again (which honestly hurts to think about, she loved him so much that, for so long, she was fine with that as long as he just picked her back up again.) She still cares for him, she still wants him to be OK and be happy and healthy but she is no longer wishing/hoping/trying for it to be with her. So when Joel - who is finally caving to his feelings after some sheer panic of "Oh my God what if I never see her again" - starts trying to show her care of any kind, she backs away from it.

Joel here is coming as close as he can to saying "I can't handle losing you, let me give you the tools you need to survive" and she's trying to keep her distance. Joel really does not know how to navigate that. He also doesn't know how to navigate his own feelings and he's starting to realize - pretty fast and pretty intensely - that he's wasted 15 years of their lives pushing her away. He could have been with her that whole time and instead he made them both miserable. He's in his reckoning now and I love that for him.

okay okay baghz thoughts

as someone who followed the cc's pov since the beginning im sad not many people picked up on what she was doing with her character, so i try to explain my Thoughts

out of everyone on the island she's probably the one that craved Family the most. she has a debilitating fear of being trapped and alone, which makes sense given her background - even though she cannot remember it, it still affects her immensely. she seeks out connections like lifelines, and when she finds someone who is kind to her she will go *intense* with her love. her love is loud, boisterous, tinted with violence, against herself (her tendency to self-immolate or drown herself) or against others (her love language is chainsaw :3) because thats what she knows!

she gets clingy too, because she's deathly afraid of being left behind. of not belonging. she already doesnt belong among humans as an artificial hybrid that doesnt even *look* similar to the other hybrids she knows, like jaiden or phil. she's an outlier among outliers. she took Bad and her adoptive brother (cant ignore he existed i guess) and claimed them as hers, as Flock, even though she didnt really know that. again, grew up with no interaction with other avians, so there.

so when the opportunity arose in purgatory, or shared trauma and grief and insanity, she embraced it the most out of everyone. she *loved* purgatory, because it erased all the boundaries she had set herself. because she got to call people siblings, she got to call someone she looked up to "dad", and did not get a weird look for it.

she and cellbit stayed behind because they both didn't value their own lives, or nowhere as much as their loved one's lives. and i think they made each other worse in that way. her especially never really got over purgatory, clinging to Bolas even months after the fact, even when almost everyone (not cellbit tho, and phil is like half and half) moved on from it. cellbit got better, in a way? skater boy, so cool. she really...didnt, though.

her egg was back, the island was back, but it was different. everyone was different. but she was still the same. she was still struggling, so lost, not quite anchored in that new reality. she sees bagi, is thrilled, offers to chainsaw her if she wants, because what's a little killing between friends? pain is fun. dying is fun, she just wants to share it with others. only if they want to tho :D

he built herself a cave to live in because she had come to relish in the dark and stuffy air, safe from the sulfur and burning red sun. she saw phil's nest and so badly wanted to be part of it, part of flock again. and phil bless his oblivious ass failed to really understand what was the issue, and she got rejection sensitivity like crazy.

"guess all that talk about family was just words," as she said after the fact. she was alone again. her brother was dead, jaiden was dead, slime her comedic soulmate and singing partner was nowhere to be found, cellbit was never there when she was, phil didnt want her...

ykw's something that annoys me about Disney's Tangled?! It's not the movie itself, it's what came after it. People try to make Rapunzel out to be more badass and like a "strong feminist female character" than she actually is! Like, yes she is physically strong, and she is also shown to be strong-willed, optimistic, determined, plucky, and courageous; she certainly has the potential to be a strong female character...but the movie makes everything about Flynn and hardly lets her show the chops she deserves to show! Like she is shown to be badass with her hair and in excellent control over it(which is impressive, because it's literally like a 70-foot rope that dangles from her head), but we rarely get to see it outside of mere gags or scenes that don't mean anything, but are just performative displays of the badassery that she possesses that SHOULD be more displayed. Like how she swings from her hair in the scene right before the cave water scene with suspenseful music to go with it, but then it's just used to segue into Flynn fighting Maximus with Rapunzel watching. It frustrates me so much and is super manipulative! But it sadly works on the intended audience who genuinely thinks that Rapunzel fought the guards and was absolutely a sufficiently strong and awesome action heroine when really the movie gives you crumbs and then tells you to fill in the gaps for yourself. And anyway the real reason I said all of this was because of the scene in Wreck-it-Ralph too where Rapunzel of all princesses literally says "do people assume that all your problems got solved because a big strong man showed up?" Like. In your case it was true tho? She never would have left the tower if Flynn didn't show up? What the hell is this? But ofc the naive Tangled fans will fall for it hook line and sinker. It maddens me as someone who still really likes Tangled and Rapunzel but can't look past what they did to the story. Rapunzel deserves better than to be reduced to a prop in her own movie but who is given occasional bits of action to pretend she has agency. She deserves better, and this entire movie deserves better in the form of a massive rewrite.

That’s actually one of my gripes with the movie and rapunzel fans. I don’t have a issue with characters who need saving and are dependent on others. But I do have a issue with people making a character to be something they are not. Rapunzel’s fans think she’s this badass who fought many guys to get to her dream and doesn’t take shit from anyone. However, In actual movie, she’s none of these things. She’s needed Flynn though out the movie and couldn’t even defeat her own villain. Worse of all, rapunzel fans trash other princesses who needed help like Snow White and Cinderella. It makes me so angry that they criticize those two for being “weak” and needing a man as if rapunzel wasn’t in the same situation as them in her movie.

I agree that the movie does a good job of hiding the fact that she isn’t independent and can’t fight. One thing I noticed about the movie was how different the narrative treated rapunzel and Flynn with a frying pan. Rapunzel is treated like a joke with it while Flynn is treated like he’s a threat with it. The fact he got a fight scene while rapunzel was in the background watching him fight shows how sidelined rapunzel was in HER own movie. I also found it weird how she never used her hair to fight. Disney took this idea from rapunzel’s revenge and that rapunzel could fight using her hair. I guess for some reason Disney didn’t want rapunzel to fight.

That line from wir was so ironic coming from rapunzel. Like you said, she was going to stay in the tower if Flynn didn’t show up. I feel like Disney is trying to change how people see rapunzel’s movie. They keep on repeating the same phrase over and over in their art books. Like how she drives her story and how she is a independent character. It’s like Disney knows rapunzel wasn’t independent and was a plot device. But they want people to think she’s one of their most feminist characters.

I agree. This whole movie suffered from sexism. Changing the name, making that cradle robber the protagonist and reducing rapunzel to a plot device was all bad. We deserved so much better than this movie.

Ok, figuring out exactly when Tommy boy turned evil feels like a lost cause. He fell into darkness for a variety of reasons, not the least of which was his incapacity to love. But tbh, even as a child he wasn't exactly a saint.

The monster was born, but as a kid he was just confused because he didn't even realise he was a monster yet.

If Tom had gotten the right support and guidance when he was younger, maybe things could've turned out differently. But his manipulation/ambition + the absence of positive influences, made it harder and harder for him to accept empathy.

I guess if he had grown up with love, he'd presumably be a less evil Voldermort 2.0, not by much tho.

As for when Tommy reached the point of no return, it was probably around the time of the cave incident. That's when he truly realised his power, and not in a good way. It might seem too soon, but that's just how I feel.

Yeah, not a bad little starter house tbh. Kinda just winged it, and did my first attempt at a Faffy Roof, which I think turned out okay. Got some storage in the roof, and I'll do out the lower part of the house with some basic stuff like furnaces and whatnot. I've moved all my stuff up into the house, but don't tell Pearl how disorganised it all is. It's 1:30am, I'll do it tomorrow. XD

Still, I think you can guess why I picked this specific location, and if I get to look at that mountain every day from my balcony, I'll be happy. <3

I've decided I'm gonna take some inspiration from False's bases, her s9 one and Cogsmeade, and like, build all over the mountain, and have everything connected with bridges and pathways, and dig a lot into the mountain. So the stairs you see lead down to another set of stairs that leads into my starter cave.

I've decided I want to use this world to like, test out and practice farms and other things, in a world where I don't have a specific story and theme like my other java solo world does. Then those things may make their way into that other world once I feel confident with them.

Alsoalso lowkey even just having Sodium has made such a difference to how it plays. (and yes, I did scan everything before I added them, even tho I get mine from modrinth, bc I ain't an idiot.) It's so much smoother. Will wait for others to get updated and be safe to install but I'm happy for now.

Outcome of my primo grinding rampage on my alt: 

Mondstadt 100%, statue max level

Dragonspine 100%

Liyue is hovering at 80-90% in different areas, what can I say, the chests often give no primos at all, so I gave up on it pretty fast after doing the major puzzles. Statue is max level tho

Narukami tree at level 37

Seirai and Tsurumi at 100%

Rest of Inazuma hasn’t been lit up (except Narukami), but I haven’t really done the major world quests there, so I doubt it’s above 70% anywhere

Enkanomiya is open but barely started. 

Aranyaka is done, Varanara tree is level 50

The strip along the top of Sumeru is at 100%, between the mushroom forest, across Vanarana, all the way to the desert. 

Upper desert and Girdle at 100%

Lower desert is not lit up, but I stopped after finishing Golden Slumber without doing the follow up quests since I want to leave the storm above the pyramid. Everything else is done, so I think it should be at about 90% or so? 

Rest of Sumeru is also not lit up, but I expect it’s pretty high too. 

The Varanara tree was the big insane move. I’m glad Qiqi stopped me before I went any crazier. 

I guess I can take this opportunity to give my opinion of exploration on the alt: 

tbh I think my ranking of exploration enjoyment goes like this: Mondstadt (good, fun, a bit simple but Dragonspine is peak exploration) > Inazuma (some good, some bad) > Liyue (no opinion) > Sumeru (lots of problems)

I still like Mondstadt a lot, since it’s very chill, open and easy to traverse. The base areas are admittedly kind of simple, but there’s also Dragonspine. I explore it with just Anemo Traveler and Kaeya, which was a hilarious experience, but tbh it was very fun in a way? Once you know what to do and start utilizing swirl, crimson quartz, and the artificial seelie gadget, it becomes a pretty good balance of difficulty. Favorite area, honestly. 

Liyue I just do not have any strong opinions about, I never have. It’s similar to Mondstadt in general style, but I find their mountains infinitely annoying to climb and the color pallet kind of unappealing. Those aren’t major things though. Liyue is just there to me. 

Inazuma is pretty hit or miss. It’s honestly kind of disappointing that doing the world quests clears away what makes the islands unique (aside from Narukami) but you can’t just not do it because there’s various content that’s inaccessible without it (gift set furnishings on Tsurumi, the domain that needs torches on Yashiori, etc). Exploring stormy Yashiori was very fun, and Tsurumi had so many different cool effects that you just... can’t keep. On the other hand, it’s still pretty good otherwise. ...Aside from Watatsumi, I still standby my opinion that Watatsumi is awful. 

But then you get to Sumeru, and it’s..... sigh. 

Sumeru is definitely the largest, most complex, and most densely populated area. It also has the most rewards. However, I think that it also feels by far the worst to explore for a number of reasons. 

First, the endless caves. They’re bad. They were awful from the start, and they’re still bad even with the little marker on underground waypoint and with the online only cave map. There are no redeeming qualities here, it’s just bad. 

Second, the excessively long world quests. Aranyaka story is good, really, but the sheer number of side quests in it? All the exploration mechanics locked behind it? All the areas you just can’t progress without doing the quests? And it doesn’t get better. Golden Slumber dragging you all over the desert was not good either, the clearance stuff is just as bad. Dirge of Bilqis is shorter but so much worse because the writing is now also shit. Khvarena is just tedious. This was already pretty bad at times in Inazuma, but Sumeru just went out of control. 

I do want story that gives meaning to the areas we can explore! But that shouldn’t block off huge areas and entire mechanics! Find a balance! 

Third, too many puzzles that force you to have specific units. The previous regions had a bit of this, but Sumeru just took it to new, awful heights. Primarily, you don’t bring a bow? Just die. The spinning rings are completely out of reach for anything except a bow, and the dendrograna will only activate with a charged attack. There’s even a withering area where the sprouts are also in positions that need a bow specifically. The desert has that too, since the sand level puzzles do not accept anything except a bow charged shot. 

And that’s not even the end of it, since Sumeru went way crazy with the elemental requirements. Not even getting into the fungus farming nightmare... with has opposite elemental requirements than the mechanisms. 

Fourth, it’s too big. 

I know this sounds kind of weird, but there’s just too much, and it really gets repetitive. We got three deserts, who needed that? And the caves/ruins all look the same too. At least Inazuma’s islands are separated from each other, but the Sumeru stuff just blurs together. 

So yeah, that’s my hottake, haha. 

tbh, it’s unfortunate, but redoing Sumeru has just reminded me of why I wasn’t feeling particularly enthused about Fontaine. I just really don’t feel enthusiastic about the direction that Genshin’s map design has taken. I also hated maneuvering Sorush, so I can’t say I feel confident about the supposed underwater sections. 

It’s also worth noting that Genshin’s performance has been notably decreasing, especially in the last couple patches. The screen now regularly flashes white-blue as it seems to reload everything, the pop-in is starting to get ridiculous, and even the enemies glitch more now. My computer might not be amazing, but it’s not that bad, and this has been much worse recently. I think the tight release schedule might be catching up with the developers. At this rate, I kind of wonder if Fontaine will even work right...

Like 97%+ of the Latin / Latino / Latine community, I'm not a huge fan of Latinx and consider this terminology to be an example of linguistic imperialism, but i am DELIGHTED to answer this question with a subset of dudes.

To clarify, though, as much as a meme and pout about it, I do get why my taste is different than theirs. I'm not ever too impressed by just looks--there's a lot of handsome dudes out there, who cares? like honestly, so what?--but I'm very attracted to movement and stance and motion. IRL, my party trick is that I can pick martial artists or dancers out of a crowd by how they stand or move, and I do this based purely on "is the way this dude stands sexy to me or not?" as opposed to any kind of objective criteria.

Accordingly, I married a life long martial artist who went goth clubbing with me enough times to ensure I'm obsessed with him for life. He's also the most amazing poet I've ever met and an actual certified genius, because fundamentally life is unfair. But the point is: movement, movement, movement. It's so important. I have a type, but not necessarily how people usually mean it.

And in the realm of pet actor men, David Castañeda moves way, way better than average, even if you judge him against other dudes trying to be action stars. So my friends are never going to convince me, and I'm never gonna convince them, and that's fine.

Miguel Gomez is popular. I think it's the cheekbones. I know him as Gus from the Strain and everybody else has seen him on some other show that sounds like something I'd rather die than watch.

Both the dudes from Mayans MC are popular, and I actually do not disagree with either JD Pardo or Clayton Cardenas as a pick. I resisted watching the show for literally years, but eventually I caved and yeaaaaahhhhh. yeaaaah tho.

Every so often I'm insane about JD for like, a week or so. Fantastic tough guy yet nice boy energy on Mayans. I've said some thirsty ass shit on this account about him for SURE. Unfortunately, every time he posts a Muay Thai workout he's just so sloppy it kills my boner for like. months at a time. I flashback to my own summer in Phuket and can just see how disappointed my trainer would be if this dude was in his gym.

Clayton Cardenas I used to disagree about but he's a Miami boy, so. And like, with the biker styling? Look at him. If he had a dance or martial arts background I'd be a goner.

he also looks like the Hollywood (therefore prettier) version of every single metal Latino dude I've ever met. the 305 and 561 area code versions of this man have hollered at me more times than I can count. like, it's a charming sort of nostalgia. it's That Guy! that type of guy! i know That Guy! I made out with that guy under the bleachers in high school! etc etc. what a darling. the last version of That Guy who tried for me is now happily married and lives in LA and works in a pet crematorium. Very happy for him.

Re: your recent canon vs fanon post, and the ATYD timeline:

I appreciate that the ATYD timeline seems super useful to any fans writing fics based off that story. And to be fair, it's labeled fanon (f) or headcanon (hc) where possible. It's awesome that the author did that; there's a lot of ATYD that most people just accept as "basically canon", and it's nice that the creator at least took the time out to note that it's not really.

My biggest issue with it is the descriptions for canon events that are incorrect or not labelled appropriately. For example, Regulus's death is labelled "Regulus and Kreacher go to the cave late and Reg sacrifices himself for Kreacher after destroying the original horcrux". In canon, Regulus doesn't destroy the locket. That's kind of a big plot point of the seventh book...

And for another example: in the timeline, Snape's Worst Memory is labelled: "despite the fact that they were not talking anymore the mars hear Snape saying some shit about Remus and spreading 'rumors' that he is a werewolf. They immediately decide that they need to put a stop to that shit, snape's worst memory ensues. Snape had already told lily that R is a werewolf but L played dumb, however after hearing him call her a literal slur she is over his shit and friend dumps him". In canon, SWM happens because Sirius is bored, not because Snape plans to "out" Remus... he's actually sworn to secrecy at this point, and neither Sirius nor Remus ever give this as an excuse for their behavior during SWM; all they say is that they were young and acted like arrogant berks sometimes.

Idk. I appreciate the effort that went into the timeline but... I think calling it "accurate" is a bit of a stretch. Accurate to the fic, sure. Canon? No.

wow i very much appreciate that you took the time to write all this out, go off. i imagine the calendar is indeed a helpful resource for atyd marauders fans and also can very much see it as like a "hey guys i made this thing for myself and i'm super proud of it! maybe you'll like it too!" kinda thing... like it's not the end of the world if somebody's personal canon ("canon") reference is inaccurate and says snape is homophobic. it's just a pain in my world and i'll complain about it for a while

but also yeah you're very much right about the canon events. i guess it must be referring to events that are technically canon but happen differently in atyd? benefit of the doubt? also i genuinely can't believe that atyd changed snape's worst memory from snape getting bullied to... snape getting righteously bullied for being a bad person? the prospect of this is so funny to me that i'm legit cry laughing over it. tho it's also nearly 4am where i am. strange emotional reactions happen during the witching hour

DvZ screenshot time!! Meant to share these earlier.

I will make a masterpost explaining what DvZ is to ppl unfamiliar but short: RP game done currently on streams with the content creator Rawb, where players from the discord can potentially play in multiple rounds focused on killing zombies, building keeps, and RPing other side stories along with Rawb! (he plays the character Bruce Willakers) Its very community oriented and very fun.

So here are pics from the last stream, i got into all three games.... i have little context to provide but i may post a few of my own clips as i recorded (none of my own commentary tho)

first screenshot! start of the stream. all of us (80-100 players) waiting on the ship to get going. fyi, the ship travels with knockback. if you arent sitting you will actually fly off and die.

flying down, getting oil.. challenge for this one was Bruce stating he heard building a keep out of scaffolding would be a good idea (it isnt) and we were divided on this so, it was to be divided in two. one side stone, one side scaffolding. i picked scaffolding (bad idea).

on the stone side, glue shop someone made- glue needed for stone walls (special users get assets sometimes! unique and made from prior RPing). included a much later picture from a different session with their ad too.

and then i died.... session 2! back on the aircraft

this time we were doing into the depths of a corrupted cave with a keep already built, tasked with using a tool to get rid of the corruption. if you touched it you would turn into a zombie. during this time as well, some key members were to be promoted to knights too!

other funny things: as we went across the bridge to the cave, someone made a toll booth part way. and then multiple other people built MORE toll booths ahead of us. it was lightening speed, idk how they were so quick to the bit. and then someone did it AGAIN in the cave.

after a bit of work, it was time for the knighting, which we werent allowed to join- but can be seen on the stream. but here is all the people gathered to get tped!

aaaand onto the last session!

before it started someone said in chat "how much to make zombies one hit" rawb said $100. well guess what happened. someone then asked "how much for dwarves to have 5 second cool down to revive" well guess what happened. (fyi dwarves cannot come back as dwarves again for up to 15 minutes. it was now changed to 5 seconds. meaning all dwarves could return immediately instead of needing to be mobs for a while, but all AI zombies would one hit. CONSTANT DEATH.)

Dani (admin) on the spot made a death count bar for fun.

we danced a little before we left

it was chaotic. the best you could do once it started was get on a tree but then you were stuck as you would very much die the moment you got down.

and it got CROWDED as everyone was able to reach the castle- when we respawned (in the airship, where we gotta fly down again) we would fly straight to it. it was hell

but in the end, we escaped. we didnt win but, we got tped to the ship so. you know! good time! three goddamn hours of play!!
