her rage would know no bounds, no matter of money or intimidation, no secretary, no general, hell, no government could look her in the eyes if your wellbeing was at stake.

if you think you know protective, I have to inform you, you don't know Kate Laswell yet. you don't know the hand of the CIA, the phantom behind the desk who moves mountains with a few keystrokes on her computer.

and boy if it gets dirty; her bullets will always find their proper place lodged in the skulls of those who oppose her. her blade will cry with joy as she digs it into the jugular of every person stupid enough to stand between you and her.

because she promised you. she promised by the altar, didn't she? and she'll gladly teach the vow to anyone; even if it takes weeks, and them being strapped to a goddamn chair in a Wyoming basement, she will. until they recite it, humiliated as they're reminded of what they tried to take from her; You.

For the headcanons for an AU, one where Zoom breaking Barry's back has some more lasting consequences?

oooooh absolutely!!!

first of all it takes way more than a pep talk and a couple days to get Barry back on his feet, I know he has super healing but we're talking a potential spinal cord injury here which is significantly worse than a broken bone, so Barry's in EoWells' wheelchair for an extended period of time which has to have it's own trauma since it's something of a representation of EoWells

getting into the science part of it, on a normal human a spinal cord injury can range from taking ~3 months to heal to being completely irreparable depending on the severity and how it's treated, usually with PT, OT, and/or orthotic intervention - judging by Barry's original recovery time I'd guess he probably had a less severe injury but that's no fun so for more lasting consequences I'm gonna say his injury in this AU is probably irreparable on a normal human

stem cell therapy and electrical stimulation are newer options for spinal cord recovery but I'm also going to say, due to his specific metahuman biology, stem cell therapy isn't going to be particularly effective, I definitely think Caitlin would try this though (and then Barry just gets more frustrated when it doesn't work)

meanwhile Harry and Cisco still manage to rescue Caitlin and get Grodd through a breach so at the very least they've got that bit handled

so now we have Barry several weeks in absolutely vibrating with frustration and nervous energy and probably horrifically depressed because Central City NEEDS The Flash and it feels like Zoom has actually broken him for good (and also Patty has to find out he's paralyzed at some point which DEFINITELY proves to her that he's The Flash because EVERYBODY saw Zoom take him down)

Barry makes progress ｓｌｏｗｌｙ but the moment he can KIND OF run he decides that's all he needs to start heroing again, this turns out to be a bad call and he probably ends up hurting himself further much to both his and Caitlin's irritation - he still manages to stop Turtle tho and Harry still kills Turtle but now Harry has a problem because Barry hurt himself again and can't run so his plan to steal some of Barry's speed and get Jesse back is in jeopardy

Caitlin and Cisco design an orthotic brace that Barry can wear in his Flash suit if he's gonna keep being stupid about it and Barry runs enough to get Harry the bit of speed he needs, Barry is too slow to save Iris from being stabbed by that rogue flying car part but he FULLY blames himself for pushing himself too hard and doesn't suspect Harry's involvement at all

I'm actually unsure if he'd go to Earth-2 without Caitlin, I think Caitlin would insist on him either staying or her coming with them as his doctor to make sure he doesn't completely ruin all of their progress in this case

you've probably seen it by now, so this might be redundant, but yes it is a flashback! it sounds like this audio takes place the night before james leaves to go and oversee project meridian, but i don't know if we know when that is?

it's unclear exactly when in the timeline PM takes place - whether it's taking place in real time, or in the past (e.g. like how everything with the balance storyline (the elliott and sunshine and closeknit one) is happening about a year in the past), or maybe even in the future!

we also don't know how much time elapses between this audio and the first time we meet james - i think we can probably assume that james has been involved with PM for as long as ETS has been in charge, considering how important to this project he says he is to DUMP, but it's unclear how long that is.

in 'Your Owner Takes Matters Into His Own Hands', james says the following:

this suggests that ETS has been in charge of PM for at least 18 months, and it's implied that love must have been capable of some kind of complex thought and speech at that point, so who knows how long PM was running before that! later in that audio, james says this:

which implies that ETS has only been paying particular attention to PM for about a year and a half - so maybe that's when james comes in, and thus when this audio is happening?

however, he also says (across various other audios):

so it looks like ETS was always pulling the strings, and ETS seems to be directly controlled by (or at least moving at the behest of) DUMP - james says in this most recent audio that:

which implies that he's pretty important at DUMP, or if not important then at least valuable - it's entirely possible that james has been involved in this project ever since its inception at DUMP, which means that this audio could literally be happening at literally any point in the last however-old-james-is! it doesn't seem like the project was his IDEA, just that he's been assigned to it, so he's probably only been called in to oversee the actual PM site and make sure everything's going to plan and nobody is breaking covert - however, we have no idea how long that site has existed, or how far into the project he's being called in.

i imagine that if james is being called away for an indefinite period of time (he doesn't know when he'll be able to come back to his listener, saying only that it'll be "god knows how long"), it's probably no more than a few years at MOST? including the roughly-18 months since ETS revealed themselves? but that's pure speculation on my part based on the information we have so far.

tldr: this audio takes place the day before james leaves to go and work on project meridian, but as far as i know we have no idea when (i.e. what date) that actually begins, or indeed when the 'present day' is for the PM storyline in general.

Hi, how did you learn to draw Steve's physique?

Ohh what a complicated thing to answer...

When it comes to how I learned to draw anything, it's hard to say anything too specific since it's always a culmination of many years of assorted study and practice... but I can try to do my best to explain some of the biggest things that helped me learn, some tips I keep in mind, and maybe at least some places to start/delve further.

(just a little disclaimer it's not like my drawings here are going to be 100% medically accurate.. they're just to illustrate concepts!)

The main thing about learning various physiques is understanding anatomy. Which feels obvious, but I don't mean proportions; these are important, but perhaps more important is understanding the skeleton and how it moves and learning where muscles connect to bones and where fat grows on the body. When you understand how these function on a more mechanical level, depicting form and movement in a way that feels natural comes in tow.

For instance, understanding things like the pronation and supination of the radius and ulna, as well as the fact that muscles can ONLY contract or relax, will help you understand a bit better which muscles will be flexed and which will not while someone moves. It's inherent to the positioning based on the structural makeup of the body... It's not like you NEED to memorize all the muscles and bones, of course, but understanding and gaining at least a passive familiarity with the concepts really helps.

In tandem with this concept is the way parts of the body flow into eachother. Muscles ALWAYS come in groups because they can only contract. Whatever muscle is there to lift something, there is a muscle on the other side to pull that bone back down. What this results in is a series of straight edges next to curves, which gives us a lot of really lovely "s curves" and dents and folds and so on and so forth just naturally occurring.

I would suggest at least learning the "bony landmarks", which are bones (usually) visible on the surface of the body. things like the iliac crest, the great trochanter, the 7th vertabrae, the acromion process... These can be used to help you understand the parts of the body as angles and relationships, rather than trying to remember lengths and sizes, which vary immensely... (since you asked about steve, he can be our model... also study these on your own don't just take my word for it haha, these are the ones I personally keep in mind)

I've done the same thing with body hair... learning where it grows and in which directions... It helps me make up variations without needing reference, because I have a set of rules I can follow.

The biggest thing that helped me understand all this on a much deeper level was my ecorche course. I sculpted this guy. We started by sculpting the entire skeleton to understand the bones, and then we added muscles on top. Not every single muscle, of course, but the "artistic muscles" AKA the ones which directly affect the surface of the body. Doing this let us see where muscles connect, because we would make a shape, put it on the bone where it actually goes, and then you get to see how other muscles overlap that.

This helped me, perhaps, more than anything else. But I also didn't just start with this course, I had been drawing for years before I even took it. I had been in school for years before I took it. Not that I think it wouldn't be helpful to someone just starting out, but I do think that the more you know going in, the better an in-depth course like this will help you and stick with you. Classes are also expensive, though so I'm not really like... recommending you pay potentially thousands of dollars to take one... But it did help me a lot, personally.

I also, of course, have done many figure, gesture, and master studies...

These just help you quickly gain a stronger understanding of generalized anatomy, and gives you real life examples of and practice with of how people move and balance.

What all this does when combined, is gives me a very solid ability to depict movement and form in a way that feels relatively natural from my subconscious without the need for reference.

The rest of how I've learned to draw his physique is honestly mostly just stylization. I understand the body, and this is how I am depicting it for his level of musculature.

And as I move into depicting him in other ways, either moving in comics or in animation, realistically rendered, or extra stylized, these concepts inform every step of that process for me! When he keeps the same/similar relationships between parts, he gets to still look like himself.

It ALSO really helps when putting clothes on, because the way cloth falls and bunches and lifts is all directly related to the form it is on... So the more you understand that form, the more you can depict clothing and movement in a way that feels natural.

This is all, of course, true when I draw anyone, you asked about Steve so I'm trying to mostly show with him! But because I'm just drawing from raw information of general anatomy rather than trying to study one body type at a time, it allows a lot more "give," I think!

But, it also makes monster and alien design much easier! It's a lot easier to come up with non-human anatomy when I understand human anatomy, because I can manipulate the knowledge I have...

There is infinite more to study in the world of anatomy... The complexity of the human body goes extremely deep. For our purposes as artists, we need only depict a fraction of it, but more information rarely hurts the process.

I'm sure there's something in here that's wrong on a technical level, I'm mostly going off of memory. But that's kind of my point - I understand enough generally and conceptually that when I am missing something and need to find reference for it, I understand what I'm looking at. It's much easier than trying to learn AND draw at the same time.

omg i'm gonna put a lil father's day take on this bc i'm yearning sooo badly for aaron today 🥹

UGH just being so so happy and content waking up next to aaron 🥹 it's something you definitely don't take for granted - you know the opposite veryyy well. no matter how many nights you spend apart due to him being away on cases, it doesn't get easier at all :( and it impacts your day overall too. waking up alone, your day starts off on more of a sad note, because more than anything you just want to be in aaron's arms, waking him up with so many kisses, and delaying starting the day as much as possible, just to spend those extra moments with him. just 🥺 those sparkly brown eyes of his being the very first thing you see in the morning, there's nothing better 🥺 it makes everything in the world just make sense and feel right.

so when you had the confirmation aaron was going to be home!!!! on father's day of all days!!!!!!! you are determined to spoil him the entire day, and that definitelyyyyy starts off by letting him sleep in as much as you can, iffff possible. hehe you sneakily get out of bed, not without giving him a soft kiss on the forehead first 🥹 before you hurry down the hall to get jack, and any other kiddos you may have 🤭 you wake them up gently, and they're yawning and dead to the world as little kids are when you first wake up them from deep sleep <333, but once you remind them it's father's day!!!! and you get to love on daddy!!! all day!!!! they're immediately wide awake and hurrying out of bed because there's so much!!!! to do!!!! hehe also, the original plan was for all of you to make breakfast while aaron slept in, and surprsie him, but the kiddos are so so excited they can't help but rush into aaron and your's room, pouncing on him to wake up him 🤭🤭🤭 all squealing "happy father's day!!!" and throwing themselves at him <3 hehe and aaron loves every single second of it!!!! he's tickling them back and peppering them with kisses and he's so so happy 🥹 all of you snuggle up in bed together before getting up, and aaron ends up helping with breakfast <333 he's helping the babies measure ingredients for pancakes, dumping and stirring such in the mixing bowl, showing them how he makes his daily coffee <333 it's a whole family affair <3333 and besides, aaron would sooo much rather spend time with all his loves instead of sleeping in 🥰 and after breakfast, (although, the littles did try to do so during breakfast BUT aaron was like "🤨🫵🏻 eat your food first", because they were so excited and talking so fast with their mouths full of pancake and there's no choking on his watch🫵🏻) the kiddos give him alllll the handmade gifts and coloring pages they worked their very hardest on, and all of which will end up on aaron's desk in his office <3 hehe he'll proudly display all of them 🥰

I love Beauyasha so much. I miss them so much.

The reunion gave me so much joy and now I'm in this weird happy but melancholy state. I love the Nein so much and I want more of them. And I especially want more of Beau and Yasha. If we get a Fjorester wedding one shot, I will be stoked. But then also give me the Beauyasha wedding too!

I'm really just hoping they keep doing these little reunions cause I love the Mighty Nein so much and seeing them makes me so happy.
