composing an incredibly detailed and informed rant about the indiewire juliette binoche retrospective they're doing for the quad cinema and how there are SUCH better choices from her filmography than the ones they picked

#i get to be annoying abt french films every now and again and this is one of those times #oh my god so the ones they picked were: the unbearable lightness of being. cache. certified copy. clouds of sils maria. damage.#let the sunshine in. and three colors blue.#which like. i get it!!!!!! i get it. but dear christ WHERE is the variety of her entire film career #no lovers on the bridge??? no chocolat?? jet lag?? slack bay??? the widow of st pierre?? horseman on the roof???#like we're just doing the Notable or Famous binoche movies and yet somehow also missing the english patient. ok!!!!#i also have a minor gripe that they're calling the retrospective 'beautiful binoche' because like .#its completely fine to appreciate her beauty theres nothing wrong with that but to me youd use that for a gallery of portraits of her yknow #but for a retrospective that is supposed to be focused on her acting talent and ability maybe we could idk do better.#its just that lots of actresses when being reviewed for a film have only their beauty talked about and not their actual acting talent #and ive noticed that in reviews of binoche movies especially #and THIS is all why i have got to make my french film-related movie. anyway
