#jane eyre#charlotte bronte#i get that this was Bronte’s fantasy to be seduced by a brooding older man but oh my word#their relationship is cute at parts and I’m not saying big age gaps are inherently awful#but oh my word mr r is just so creepy and the way he approaches things is so awful eww eew eee#and she is only wee#good on her for leaving him after the wedding!!!!#i also appreciate the section at Lowood so much more#no modern version can ever properly adapt because if this happened today it would be a bi romance cause helen would have likely survived#and all the modern versions leave Helen out because of this forgetting that their relationship is literally the most important part#and when you take Helen away you’re left with basically nothing of note because all that happens is a consequence of their relationship
