Okay so first of all, thank you very much for the wonderful ask, finally someone decided to play an oc ask game with me. I've seen people like Kiroons and Sleepy do this and now it's my turn. Second of all, even though this ask was non oc specific and could potentially be answered with all of them, I will answer only with Asopo because he's the one I have the most lore for. He's the one I think about the most so my good old interceptor oc Asopo will be the focus. I've explored Asopo through writing, oc rp servers and artwork. He's been the interceptor, a normal gym challenger in hyburna and a gym leader. Not all of these scenarios connect to the same continuity but I'll refer to all of them while answering the lovely questions you were nice enough to send.

I got carried away for two hours and had a sort of oc moment. Below is an insane 4151 word ramble about my precious oc Asopo who I love. Massive spoilers for all of Pokemon Rejuvenation included. Both routes.

🔥 (fire) - What drives your character in life? Is it a belief? A person? A goal? Whatever it is, what do they want from it and what are they willing to do to get it?

For Asopo this has changed a lot over time. All three of these things have driven him in different scenarios. In the Hyburna version of his story Asopo isn't the interceptor but he's still very driven as a pokemon trainer. In all scenarios Asopo has had a very loving family whether that's his biological family in Hyburna or his eclectic mixture of human connections in Aevium. So basically Asopo was art first driven by his love for Nancy. The whole boat around him was getting destroyed and the most he could do is run away. Except he couldn't even manage that without a bunch of help from his mum and piano lady. (I fucking loved the dropping piano on deoxys bit.) Basically at first he was driven by wanting to save Nancy and be strong enough to not be helpless anymore. Then Melia "dies" in amethyst cave even though Asopo was stronger this time. So now it's not just about saving his mum but also getting revenge against the evil people that keep taking things away from him. Except that didn't immediately happen, he had to sit around grieving with Venam and Ren first. Asopo is "The Interceptor of Persistence" but this was his first experience with actually mouring a loved one. It was his first taste of the reality of death. At that point he hadn't lived much life and simply wasn't ready for it.

Skipping ahead in time a bit, Asopo finds that Melia is still alive and can be rescued yet his mother Nancy died and no matter how strong he was he couldn't prevent that. Asopo felt a primal sense of terror while looking at the Yveltal on blacksteeple castle, I headcannon that legendary pokemon like Yveltal and Xerneas emmanate this aura of whatever concept they represent. In the case of Yveltal and Xerneas they literally has abilities with 'aura' in the name. As a tangent I'll explain that in my headcannon staring at Yveltal is like staring at something that makes you instinctively think "I am going to die." Like there's an overwhelming dread that accompanies Yveltal's simple appearance that would break most people. Asopo fought against it, and won. We know that any player can use the focus sash to maybe beat Yveltal by toxic stalling or something, but in world I imagine it's the interceptor sending out multiple pokemon at once and using genuisly co-ordinated strategies to push their pokemon past their limits and do the impossible, defeat Yveltal, or at least push it back enough for Madame X to feel like she had been bested.

The whole point of this tangent about Yveltal is to say that Asopo tried and tried and tried and tried and tried some more to save his mother and it still wasn't enough. That's crushing. And now his desire to take revenge against team Xen was made into a joke by Melia still being alive. He'd be ashamed to admit it, but for a short period of time Melia's survival actually made Asopo feel bitter and cheated in a weird way. Of course, once he shook off the blinding miasma of despair around him he felt horrible about thinking that and was ready to embrace Melia as a best friend that he's delighted to be with, but still. Asopo's persistence never really falters on either the paragon or renegade route, but he has a lot of anger inside of him. It builds and builds until reaching a fever pitch at a certain point I'll discuss later. How Asopo deals with it is the real difference maker when it comes to who he becomes.

So basically on Terajuma Asopo is still mourning Nancy and wears a black t-shirt with a pink pokeball symbol on it to sort of show that. (I did a drawing of Asopo's terajuma design you can look at. I tried to give him a very tired expression.) For this arc his driving purpose in life is simply to survive terajuma and protect the new friends he made. At the same time he gradually gets more angry with Team Xen and its members. People like them. All they do is hurt others. All they do is make his life hard. All they do is define his life with endless hardships. He had to bloody his hands by killing a rift pokemon because of them. They make everything worse. They make him worse. He suppresses most of this anger and sadness, not to appear stoic or for any conscious reason, internalising negative emotions is simply his way of coping. Yet there's no denying that the dark side of his motivations in Act 1 of rejuvenation is that Asopo is driven by anger.

Love and hate are both the forces tugging Asopo along for this part of his journey, one of them wins by the end of the arc.

I'll explain the whole thing about Asopo's end of terajuma arc character development under the Pheonix ask because that's a more fitting place for it. You can skip to there for the end of this thought.

So Asopo's main goal by .karmafiles is liberation. He's matured into his interceptor role and he's proud of it. He's happiest during pokemon battles, when the struggle for his ideals is exciting and tangible. He always fights to win but somehow he's never afraid of losing either. He fights like he isn't at all intimidated by the prospect that defeate means death in most cases.

In Asopo's mind 'liberation' is the state of being wear outside pressures like danger and societal injustice aren't weighing him down. During the regirock sidequest he didn't hesitate to destroy the terminal and free the envoy souls, he doesn't see life as an inherent good even if he's trying to prevent death as much as possible. The space hags tried to teach him and Melia to always choose the millions over the beloved few, but if you put a trolley problem in front of Asopo he'd simply take the people off the tracks. If that wasn't practically possible he'd force a way for it to be possible or at least try. His goal is liberation and to get that he's willing to do basically anything. He plans to destroy Karma, the ai controlling rejuvenation's world. Right now he views it as the ultimate inherent evil that he'd do basically anything to stop.

In Asopo's mind the interceptor's role is to act as the ultimate paragon of freedom and extend that freedom to everyone else.

In the renegade route Asopo's anger at the world gradually turned him into the sort of person who isn't capable of saving it. When the androids Clear and Kieren offered him a spot on the team that fights for oblivion, he was at first very offended. How dare they imply he's bad at stopping evli?! Kieren's nonchalance and Clear's callous stoicism make them the most punchable faces he's ever seen. Even Madame X has a less punchable face, although that doesn't really count because she's wearing a mask. After some self reflection he realised that maybe Clear and Kieren and the weird red cube that led him to this room all have a point. Asopo didn't feel very motivated to save the world, he didn't even like most of the people in it, except for a few. Hell, he earlier learnt that Melia was dying of genesis syndrome. Someone he fought to protect the whole time, who he mourned at one point, who he tried to avenge at one point, she was dying the whole time. Everything about his journey is kinda pointless when you take a step back and think critically about it. But he doesn't want to admit defeat. He wasn't ready to give up. He wanted to win, if nothing else. The interceptor of persistence never gives up.

So basically he decides that because he isn't the sort of person who can save the world, he's probably the sort of person who can end it, and as Erin discovered in the Blakeory Athenium, destroying the world is a totally valid option for the interceptor. He's meant to judge this world, and he judges it as a disappointment. At the same time he's willing to entertain the logical possibility that if life were bettre than he probably wouldn't want to destroy the world. He doesn't think a happy life is undesirable or impossible, he just doesn't consider it feasible.

We don't know for sure what the connection between paragon and renegade is, we're at the point where even our playable character is hiding secrets from the irl player. But right now the likely theory is that renegade is helping and funding paragon by giving them stuff like the red chain. With this interpretation I think that Renegade Asopo's purpose is first and foremost to experience some sort of victory, but while he's at it he wants to ensure that at least some version of himself gets the much better victory he truly wanted from the beginning.

Both Asopo's are pretty much willing to do whatever it takes.

🌅 (sunrise) - What does your oc look forward to every day? Do they have something to look forward to in the first place? What makes them wake up in the morning? Why do they want to be alive?

Why does Asopo want to be alive? Well there's not shortage of reasons for Asopo to live. First off I'll explain that his most powerful character trait in every portrayal of the character is persistence. Even if he's not the interceptor of persistence, he still has that as part of how he is. I don't think he'd give up on life for anything. Maybe renegade and Hyburna Asopo would have their limits, but paragon Asopo virtually wouldn't have one. A paragon of persistence.

To answer the question in a less serious way, both Hyburna and Paragon Asopo have lots of people they love dearly. They really get a kick out of life, even if it's just a mundane or boring day. Hyburna Asopo really loves and admires his older sister Atlanta, he loves his mum Loraine and hugs her at least once a day, he also has some good times with his dad Alon. He also has a friend called Zorina who's been his neighbour for a while. He enjoys swimming, pokemon battling, fashion, (he's willing to wear all sorts of clothes, even more traditionally feminine ones like dresses and skirts but he'll wear male clothes more often) listening to and watching rain fall, maybe watching whatever new movie or TV show that Zorina has started talking about, he enjoys all sorts of things.

Paragon Asopo looks forward to each day he gets alive because they seem so focus precious to him. The fact that he's here, the fact that his friends are somehow still here with him, that's enough sometimes. Interceptor Asopo also has an interest in fashion. Doing the Odessa sidequest resulted in him getting body swapped with a pretty princess who was maybe a bit silly and wanted to steal his identity but he totally forgave her for it. (God forbid a princess who gets locked in the basement do anything right?!) Basically after some time in Odessa's body Asopo realised that wearing a dress and looking pretty felt kinda nice. It wasn't a gender altering experience for him, he's decisively a man, but they say that cross dressing is the manliest thing a person can do because it's something only men are capable of. Cause if you aren't a man who puts on the dress then it's not crossdressing it's just dressing. This tangent is me saying that I want to draw my oc looking pretty and/or cute sometimes without questioning his or my own gender identity. That's all. Back to the point. When he gets his act 2 redesign he actually got Melia to help it pick it out for him. He thought that Venam and Melia suddenly looking different was really cool and he wanted to look different too. So basically he asks Melia to dress him up as well and she basically comes up with his Act 2 redesign that he loves. He and Erin also share a lot of discussion about clothes and aesthetics they like later on.

Other than stuff like swimming, walking through the rain, fashion, his friends, Asopo got through the really hard times by doing a handful of things that help him get up in the morning. The help requests in paragon are really healthy because by helping those other people he learns how to help himself in a way. Even if the help requests get a bit funky he finds joy in them. They make his life better. They make him better. Another thing is that Asopo stays silly. Through all his time of being on the listening side of a conversation and being super quiet (about as quiet as the canon interceptor) he has developed really great comedic timing. I interpret the random funny dialogue options in rejuv as a hint at the Interceptor's personality. When Kieren talks to him at mount valour, Asopo says "No Autographs" after Kieren had prefaced the conversation by talking about Asopo as this notorious trainer who fought team xen and caused so much trouble. He comments on how a "kitty kat" with a sense of humour is rare, and that's sort of true I guess. Why not pretend you're some random person you made up called mildred mcanny? Why not improvise an overly elaborate therapy session for this gurdur? Sometimes the first thing he says in hours will be a quip of some kind like that. This is something he appreciated about Nim early on, maybe he even learnt it from her. The "fun games" that Nim set up were designed to cheer Asoop up and it succeeded. Maybe that's where he learnt it from.

Overall Asopo learnt how to make a better life for himself by being kind to others, by making friends and keeping up his purpose of getting stronger. If all else fails he still feels like he has a responsibility to live and fight for the future no matter what. He understands Karma as an ultimate evil only he can stop, throughout his whole journey he's felt that if he isn't the one to save the day, then the day isn't getting saved. He thinks he's too important to die and even in a pit of despair where he's lost everything else, he'd cling to life for no other reason than the fact that it's not his right to deny this world its interceptor, its last bastion of free will that can change fate.

✴️ (eight-pointed star) - Is there anyone your oc admires or looks up to? What qualities of this person does your oc admire? Do they want to be like this person one day?

Yes actually. Asopo has quite a few people he looks up to, it's different depending on whether it's Hyburna or Paragon Asopo, but there's a sort of theme when it comes to who he looks up to. Oh but Renegade Asopo doesn't admire anything. Maybe renegade Asopo admired Crescent for a while but eventually he just considered her a bit sad.

So basically Nancy was Asopo's hero. And that's not exclusively because she sacrificed herself to save him. A lot of the reasons why he admires her are all back construction, reflecting on events and thinking about it. So basically Nancy is not even Asopo's biological mother, and she at first only acted as his mother because Crescent told her to, but both Asopo and Nancy's love was real. This is canon lore by the way, Nancy's love for her child was real there's dialogue that implies she outgrew her original orders. Definitely the interceptor's mother. So basically what Asopo admires more than just someone being strong is someone being protective and caring. Tesla, Maman and Nancy are people he really came to respect. Tesla offering to take him in definitely reduced him to tears, he wouldn't of cried immediately but when he had a quiet moment to himself he would've. He thinks that the way Tesla uses her strength and the way she treats others is the most heroic thing he's ever seen. He had a feeling he was going to love her from the start of act 1.

The fact that Asopo really admires protective caring figures definitely gives him a complicated view of people like Keta, Nymiera, and forgive me Meteors, but also Neved. Let's start with Neved. The whole thing about Neved wanting to save his daugther reminded him of Nancy, but in sort of an ugly way. He didn't want to think that Neved and Nancy were even vaguely comparable. No one who tortured Aelita just to have revenge on Kenneth deserves to be compared to his Mom. If Asopo hadn't sworn to not hold a grudge against anyone anymore, or if Maman hadn't told him about how much she loved her husband, Asopo would actively hate him. Especially for that incident in Terajuma where Neved tried to guilt him and Melia into turning themselves in to team xen so that the war on Terajuma would just end. It actually shook his resolve for a moment as he wondered about the ethics of his big quest, and it seemed to have the same effect on Melia, but then a real hero called Tesla interrupted and told him to keep going. Later he was angry at himself for actually taking Neved seriously. If Renegade Asopo ever made a (s)hitlist (and didn't consider pursuing revenge a totally inane waste of time when he has a world to end) then Neved would be one of the names written on it. I'm sorry Meteors but it's true. XD (see how quirky I am using the xd)

Keta. Oooohhhh boy Keta. Asopo did not view Keta's sacrifice the same way he viewed Nancy's. Keta cried out about how this was his redemption and that he was doing the right thing, but because Keta took so long to take action against Team Xen a baby volcanion was turned into a rift and Asopo had to kill it. Asopo had to kill a pokemon because of Keta's inaction. Keta was strong, at this point inaction inspite of possessing strength and power is something that Asopo is too naive to understand. He's disappointed when Keta 'redeems' himself by sacrificing his life. He thinks that Keta should've redeemed himself by surviving instead and living to face his mistakes. One thing that Asopo never manages to stomach is other people sacrificing their lives. He'll make an exception for Nancy's sacrifice, and in the most extreme situations he has a few times considered sacrificing his own life as fair game. (think of when he pushed Melia out of the way of the Yveltal decimation during bad future arc) Yet broadly Asopo doesn't consider self sacrifice a virtue. When Vivian asked him if he'd give up his life for those he loves, he said yes, mainly because he had already done so in the past, but he was appalled that Vivian was actually going to do it himself. He's really afraid that Melia might try to sacrifice herself at some point and he won't stand for it. It's a sort of double standard he has.

And Nymiera. Asopo at first admired Nymiera when he only understood her in legend. A brave queen who fought with two swords to protect her people, queen life and humanity. The mural in the bad future arc depicted her as a motherly and noble figure, and I guess Asopo just projected his perceptions of Tesla and Nancy onto her. For a lot of time he was content to just believe that she was the big good to Vitus's big bad, but then the regi trio sidequests happened. Nymeiera isn't Asopo's ideal of someone protective and caring, she is simply a champion of life. Life, with all its joy and beauty as well as the senseless cruelty and struggle for survival. By .karmafiles Asopo views liberation as the ultimate good, but it's clear that Nymiera simply views preserving life as the ultimate good. Asopo saw the Garufan sanctuary as an example of Garufan arrogance, the refusal of the old to let the world change, and the insistence to cling to life even when life sucks and isn't worth living. Of course, Asopo is sort of stubborn and foolish in the same way, but he's the interceptor he needs to be that's different. He felt that if he didn't free the envoys then he'd never be able to face Aelita and act like they're friends. He thinks that Nymiera is an effective protector, like how the space hags were effective protectors, but not a good friend. He really pities Nymiera because he understands the difficult position she's in, but it was still an overall very disillusioning experience for him.

🐦‍🔥 (phoenix) - What has your oc had to overcome to get to where they are now? Were the challenges emotional or physical? Would you say they had to go through a “rebirth”? How did they change, if at all?

Asopo had to go through a lot to get where he is now. In Hyburna he had the healthy and 'normal' trials of the pokemon league and competing against his rivals. His best friend Zorina and his not so friendly rival Everest (That's an oc I still need to work on. Silver haired dragon specialist enby.) who both pushed him to become stronger. His toughest battle in the Hyburna league was fighting his sister Atlanta, who is part of the elite four in his region.

In Aevium Asopo's "Rebirth" happens on Mount Valour. His literal death and rebirth after Geara pushes him into lava. As I explained under the heading "fire" Asopo is driven both by love of his friends but also by anger at his enemies. There is a very critical scene on Mount Valour that sort of shows who he's becoming before the actual rebirth. When Eli and Sharon are defeated, then Sharon tries to kill herself by jumping off a cliff Asopo has some thoughts. He thinks that Eli and Sharon are just going to get stronger over time, they'll just continue being a nusance whenever he fights team xen and they might eventually contribute to he and/or his friends losing and dying. So basically Asopo starts to hope that Sharon will go through with it. He starts hoping that Sharon is about jump.

Then Crescent pushes her.

Asopo has an immediate and intense stress response. Oh look. It's exactly what you asked for. Good helpful ol' Crescent is here to do your dirty work for you again. She'll teleport you out of danger and do exactly what you want to do, but won't do for yourself. Seeing Crescent actually act on what he only thought of, and then say aloud the things he had been thinking for weeks on terajuma, how every team xen member is destined to be destroyed and die. How they all deserve it. Seeing this mirror of himself completely snaps him out of it because Asopo imagines Crescent in this moment as the worst version of himself. Calm and in control, and ready to punish evil. On the paragon route Asopo learns the value of mercy and feels intense relief when it turns out that Sharon was alive. That's why he called Crescent cruel afterwards. He was saying it almost more to himself than to her.

On the renegade path... Asopo approves. Yes. Kill Sharon. She shouldn't have joined team xen, she deserved that. Asopo will show them all the same mercy Madame X showed his mother, that is to say, none at all. Asopo gradually getting angrier at team xen eventually extends into him becoming more jaded and cynical and a worse friend. A worse person who doesn't care as much about saving others, simply about "defeating evil" and "surviving".

This attitude is cemented after he dies and comes back to life by being thrown into Mount Valour's lava. On paragon Asopo's death and rebirth on Mount Valour sort of... clenses him. All his anger at team xen had been burned away into ashes, he still viewed them as antagonists, but by now he realised that they were people not enemies.

After Mount Valour his trainer class changes to "Reborn" because that's the only accurate way to describe the state of being he reached after that. Mount Valour is practically a baptism of fire for the interceptor, either being baptised as a paragon or a renegade.

i think that the dash of fantasy in rejuvenation is a big factor in why it's my favorite game. like, you mashed my two favorite things (pokemon and fantasy as a whole) together and paired it with an amazing story with a bunch of lore? and a huge friend group that feels natural and has small peaceful/domestic moments?? lots of complex characters too????? sign me up i am the biggest fan of your media.

So I got an anon ask of which au I'm writing right now. I had considered making this post on that ask, but out of respect to that anon and allow myself to ramble more, I'm making a separate post.

This past year has been one hell of a fucking wild ride. Mentally and emotionally. Having been out of a job until September, it was a struggle to maintain myself. I had pushed and pushed myself to build a platform at a faster rate, thinking that would help me. I abandoned what I knew was my audience to pander to those that likely wouldn't stay. All to prove a point I had proven long ago, but was blind to it. Because of that, I tunnel visioned into spending all my time working, not giving myself a real chance to rest. That is until now.

Those that remotely believe or whatever know I'm a witch. My specialty is tarot readings, divination, those sort of things. Well, at the start of the year, I had done a yearly reading that did tell me I'd be over investing in work (which I thought meant at the place I had worked at) and everything has been pretty on point. That left a scary ish one for November: the devil upright. A card that seems sinister but tells of exploring the shadow self to free yourself of limitations among other things. This card was paired recently with a dream of a spider, which among those many meanings, also resembles the shadow self. In that dream, the spider was frantic and spazzing out. How I've been this entire year. And it's not until recently I figured it out.

I thought something was stopping me from writing what I wanted. I thought I was still pandering. But what it actually is, is what all the other readings had pointed out. A lack of balance. This entire year, I put work above all else. I didn't really allow myself time to rest. That is until now.

There will be a significant drop in content this month. I will be taking the month to rest and just enjoy life. There will be doodles here and there, maybe a story, but with a focus on what I want to do at the time. I'm also taking this time to allow my hand the proper rest it needs as I still have an inflamed vein in that hand and need to let it rest. But I will also be diversifying.

Miraculous will still be the top dog around here. The potential there is just beautiful. However, I will have more. I will dive into Steven Universe once I got a good starting point outside of Rejuvenation. Some Pokemon bits here and there mostly just because I finished the DLC. And, dare I say it, maybe even some Sonic. I will be working on the Day of the Fall comics a little less while my hand rests, but they are still coming. I'm too in love with Celeste's story not to, plus the other shit I have planned too.

I do have a little something else planned as a fun something, to fill the meantime, but more on that in a separate post. Anyway, this has been long, but y'all need to know. And because there's no reason for me to hide this. Yes, it's been a long year. Yes, it's been hard. And there's no shame in that. Nor is there in resting.

Big spoilers for Pokemon Rejuvenation 13.5's Renegade Route below the cut, but DUDE I HAVE THOUGHTS.

Dude M2 makes me want to fucking explode, I am OBSESSED with her. Like aside from her being the exact kind of insane I love in a character, beneath that is fucking FASCINATING.

Despite the timeline differences and insanity by years worth of wandering in a desolate fucking wasteland, you can see there's still Melia beneath all that. Melia who is sick and tired of the shit she's had to go through, seen the end of the world and gotten a second shot. And what she's done is declared it inevitable and decided she's going out on her own terms, and she'll do whatever she wants as she goes down, and is taking whoever has wronged her with her.

Like and that's what I love! Her anger isn't insane! It isn't directionless, she's clearly uncomfortable with the idea of killing Talon! Her first instinct upon seeing him rift is to save him like with Aelita before realizing that he would just be forced to rift again. And with Ren! She fucking hated Ren! He was on her (s)hit list! But when she realized that this was not the same Ren as her original timeline, one who wasn't selfishly going for power, one willing to die to atone for the sins of someone who isn't him, she let him live! And this was something she pointed out with Karrina! How the worst part of her was that at the end she was still trying to save her own skin with no attempt atonement or apology.

On top of that we can still see some doubt seeping through in how she asks the interceptor if there's a chance they won't end the world, before quickly dropping the subject when it was clear they had no plans on dropping it. And I love how Amber points out M2 likely doesn't hate everyone, but is just lashing out. M2 is damaged by her timeline ending and being stuck in purgatory for years. But despite this damage, there's still Melia buried under it all! And M2 tries to keep it all buried because I feel like she knows that Melia wouldn't do what she's doing, but that's fine, because she's not Melia, she's M2.

And I can fucking see it now, after her reckless use of the Archetype has let Genisis Syndrome ravage her and she's too weak to possibly stop the end she'd once thought so inevitable, she's gonna regret a lot of what she did. I dunno if she'll regret all of it, but she might regret at least not trying to stop the end.

I just wanted to put all this out there because I feel like people are gonna focus on M2's more outlandish behavior! And I'm glad for that, she's genuinely a very fun character and you can tell the folks who wrote her had a blast doing so, and I genuinely think introducing her as your companion in the renegade route was a fantastic idea. But there's so much more there and just AGHGHGGHGHGHG HER!!!!

And I promise I'm not saying that because I absolutely fucking called an evil and fucked up Melia pre-release, thank you for coming to my ted talk.

Akira and Morgana "play" one pokemon fangame each.

Okay cool you reading? I played one game, Pokemon Rejuvenation, making decisions and naming pokemon how I thought Akira might. I did the same thing with a different fangame, Pokemon Z, but making decisions and naming pokemon as Morgana. The best way to describe this entire thing was method acting. I didn't complete either game.

Q: Why did you do this?

A: Writer's block. This was a characterization exercise. I also happen to like pokemon but don't like paying 60 bucks to play a new game .

(This was convenient because it was free to download both fangames, since due to legal reasons, any fangame that slaps a price on itself is guranteed to get fucked by Nintendo.)

A: Poor commitment. Pokemon Rejuvenation was also bone breakingly difficult because I underestimated its Normal Mode. This is in no way an insult to the game, as it made triumphs all the sweeter and somehow worked out for "playing as Akira".

A: I got through a little under half of each game (Roughly a week spent on each game)

A: A tiny bit, but not mid or late game shit.

PLAYTHROUGH AKIRA (Pokemon Rejuvenation)

God this game is dark. Like, many characters die in a way that leaves you staring at the screen in the pitch of your room at 2AM kind of dark.

The Akira that I'm writing in a fic looks at this shit, looks at the game giving him the option to be nice to others, and fucking runs with it. He doesn't care about what his little character lost. Even though he separates himself from the game by pointing out all sorts of tropes and shit that happens to his character, at times laughing or celebrating when he ends up predicting how badly things are going to go through, he sits in silence when he sees the hearts of those other little characters on the screen get broken.

He's gone out of his way countless fucking times just to complete different quests for other characters. Once, there was a pokemon that was abandoned by a trainer who thought it was worthless. Akira immediately set everything aside to follow and defend this pokemon from its trainer after they came back, giving it false promises of being worthy of their love if only it got its act together and stopped being useless in battle. Akira claimed it after defeating them. He named it Victory. Through fights against gym leaders, warped horrors, and corrupted people, he kept Victory on his team like a good luck charm.

Needless to say, he connected to many of the main characters intended to be the protagonist's friends. He only caught a small number of Pokemon, going off of what he resonated with, needed, or thought was cool. He had a rotating set of pokemon he'd use the most, and made sure that each of them were all similar levels with each other because it felt fair. Despite this, here are the pokemon he ended up using the most:

Jokerson (Samurott, and his starter. He chose it because in the lab, it was the only pokemon that kept glitching out and spinning uncontrollably whenever he walked.)

Ouppy :) (Mightyena. He didn't expect it to be so trusty, but after it landed many, many, many killing blows, he saw that he created a monster. The stronger it gets, the more he adores its name.)

Victory (Floatzel. Yup, that pokemon that got abandoned! He's cheered it on in many a battle.)

Ryuji (Luxray. It reminded him of Ryuji as a Shinx and has turned out to be a straight up amazing pokemon who was tanked a lot of impossible-seeming stuff)

Akechi (Scolipede. Its posture and overall attitude reminds him of Akechi, and it ended up becoming scarily good in battle.)

Pipe Bomb (Jumpluff. Horrible pokemon he needed to cheese his way through tough battles.)

Fried Shrimp (Skrelp. He loves its name, and for some reason it kept coming in clutch.)

Haru and Haru^2 (Sawsbuck and Galarian Ponyta, respectively. He saw a Deerling and thought, "holy shit... that's Haru!" and then hatched a ponyta egg and thought, in horror, "Why are there two pokemon that fit Haru so well?! It turns out that both are terrifying forces in battle, which he unfortunately underestimated multiple times.)

CONCLUSION:

Akira took a world full of hurt and betrayal, tough as nails, and forcibly carved a place for the little characters on the other side of the screen to be happy. Many silly times were found because of his in-game actions, and he was rewarded by the game for his efforts.

PLAYTHROUGH MORGANA (Pokemon Z)

This is Kalos during the revolution (similar to France) with levels of darkness close to Pokemon Black and White and its normal difficulty close to Pokemon X and Y.

Morgana was so fucking down for all of this. He found the story and world to be fascinating, taking both very seriously. He ended up really liking a handful of pokemon, but for a long while caught as many new pokemon as he could find because the professor, a beautiful and talanted woman of alchemy, told him to.

There were times where the story made Morgana feel... conflicted as he played. This game was taking place during a revolution, after all, and it shows plainly that no side is perfect. As much as he wants to side with the revolution... the movement is being puppeted, and those apart of it don't know the entire story. Still, be believes that the majority of those in power need to be taught a lesson, and reveled whenever an officer or notable figure challenged him to battle after wrongly accusing him or his rivals. Since the game was relatively easy, it was absolutely a power fantasy for him.

Morgana was able to keep a handful of pokemon to fight with, and for the ones he used, he put a little work into optimizing their stats, moves, and abilities so that he could depend on them no matter the situation. He chose his pokemon based on if they looked cool to him, which usually meant looking some version of classy. Some of the main ones are:

Zorro (Chesnaught. His starter! He just ended up resonating with that one and decided that it would be his signature pokemon.)

Reynard (Thievul. Morgana saw its cool mustache and posture and whole demeanor and thought it was coolest thing ever. No, he didn't care if it wasn't the best pokemon for actual battles.)

Pandora (Umbreon. He spent a shit ton of time boosting that Eevee's friendship to get the coolest evolution and he's going to make it count, damn it!)

Kitsune (Ninetales. It 100% reminds him of Yusuke, but he won't admit it.)

Moonbit (Nidoking. He took one look at a male Nidoran and thought it was the coolest thing ever, so he made it a point to be one of the pokemon he kept on his team most.)

Delphi (Absol. It's so cool and badass and WOAH it critical hits everything! Hell yeah!)

Medusa (Arbok. Not only does he love the design, but its move Glare helps So much when it comes to catching pokemon.)

Bakeneko (Persian. It may be a cat... but... just look at it! And it also knows Pay Day, which gives you money, so of course he'd keep a pokemon that's fast and strong and gives you money!)

CONCLUSION:

It was an accidental galaxy brain move to method act play a game based on a revolution in history. Morgana was able to have a power fantasy that left him unprepared when hit with messy moral problems regarding the corruption of institutions, not just individuals.

Oh I should probably mention if I haven't already: Will and Myo are very much alive in the Paragon Route! Will runs a flower shop in GDC and Myo is a chronic job hopper that can't seem to stick a job ( bc they keep getting fired).

Spoilers for pokemon desolation and Rejuvenation below!

Will is about 21-22 in comparison to being 18-19 during Renegade. Quick explanation for that: Will is actually from Ayrith, the region pokemon desolation takes place in. In my au, the events of reborn, desolation and rejuvenation happen in a single timeline - yes, for many reasons it shouldn't, but I try my best to at least make it make sense lol. From Reborn to Rejuvenation, it takes a span of 5 years, with deso being in the middle. Again, I know there's some canon stuff that contradicts this timeline, I know, but this is why it's an au. I've been going back and forth on when deso would happen, and for now I think it would happen 2 years after Reborn, 3 years before Rejuv. Now going back to Will: in the renegade timeline, bro died in Ayrith in Darkroot, his soul wandering for 3 years, only to get yoinked and become an interceptor. In Paragon, he never died! So he gets to actually age normally, and eventually move to Aevium to open up shop. He's still a young shop owner,still has lots to learn, but he seems to be doing pretty well for himself!

Myo is a different story, as since bc they weren't in a waiting list of souls, Myo is still 18 in Paragon, not really aging like Will did. That didn't stop them from finding each other! Dare I say it: platonic soulmates in every universe. Also they're human in Paragon! Fully human!! No ounce of servant blood ( do they even bleed? Well they do when they grow their own will I guess) in them! They're relationship with their dad is better too, if a tiny bit rocky given how Myo operates. And their mom is alive!!! Yippee!

And lastly, Will has an amazing partner in a person named Abby! They're a tattoo artist who works at a parlor nearby! Them and Will are hopelessly in love, and Myo and them are practically partners in crime and bffs!

Overall they are much happier and have no idea who the fuck is Isador Arkwright <3

wait why did the confessions get removed? what happened <-im out of the loop (heh) about pokemon rejuvenation

I LITERALLY JUST FOUND THIS OUT. but.

the gist is in v12 chapter 12 of rejuv, which is, you know, titled "Remember, I love you", throughout the early chunk of the chapter it was a running gag that melia tried to tell venam something but got interrupted every single time. and this something was obviously a love confession.

so in the bad future arc, when melia is at her lowest point yet finds new faith and unlocks her divine power-- in v13.5, she's transported to this mindscape and meets Emma, who takes her on a tour of every first meeting with the og gearan crew (venam, ren, protag), which leads her to realize her friends are what she truly fights for.

in v12, she instead sees a vision of venam. i gushed about this SO MUCH back when i played v12 ... four years ago now, damn. it's was a complete whammy that venam confessed first after melia was setup for it, and it was venam somehow, someway, appearing at melia's side across dimensions that let melia keep going. and like. i was so moved by that! i didn't care that it doesn't make sense for venam to appear here! like, hell, maybe it was even not venam at all, but melia's subconcious, who cares.

Point is, venam's appearance at melia's lowest point was THE fucking rejuv moment of all time for me, i adored the focus of the melia/venam relationship that permeated all of chapter 12, so much so it was NAMED after it. That venam said in her last moments before being turned to stone, "Remember, I love you," and that reached Melia across space and time.

The Emma sequence probably ties in better with the 13.5 exclusive content i haven't seen, and makes more sense lore wise, i'm just... disappointed. that it got toned down so much. none of melia's aborted confessions. none of venam lifting her up across time. it got generalized to all of melia's dearest friends instead of singling out venam.

i dunno, man! it's a bummer! especially when that was a scene i hyped up to my friends who got into rejuv, and then it just... didn't happen.

i miss the interdimensional lesbianism. give it back. please.

Okay I had an idea.

In their search to find Kiran, Danica , Barry and Zora ( Kiran's little sister), with the help of Volo, stumbles across something that can potentially help them find Kiran. Before they could, however, something happens. Just as Danica is about to touch this item,Silver with Celebi besides him bursts into the scene, yelling at them to stop- but it was too late. Time slows down, and Dialga's Roar of Time is heard by all ears. And everything turns white

Barry, Zora and Silver all wake up in a familiar yet unfamiliar place. The surrounding area is absolutely horrific, decay and darkness all around. Barry and Zora are rightfully confused, especially when Danica and Volo are nowhere to be found. Silver, however, has some answers.

The place that they are in is a Doomed Future. One that was caused when Danica was about to touch whatever it was that would hypothetically help the group find Kiran. Silver doesn't know all the details though, but he knew he had to stop this future from happening. Zora points out that they could easily just go back to where they were before with Celebi,which is true but. Celebi isn't with them either. And Silver can't sense it, nor is his powers working. So to put it simply, they're stuck until they find Celebi or another method to get back home. And thus begins their quest in this horrid world.

To cut right to the chase: this Doomed Future was not caused by Cyrus, as Barry would have believed. It was created by Danica and Volo. When Danica touched and used the item they found, Barry and Zora disappeared. Alongside that, Zero ( who probably would have been with Volo btw) crumbled into dust right before him. Volo has changed a lot throughout the years he spent traveling the earth. He has changed for the better. But at that moment, he threw it all out the window. No matter what he does, the gods always punish him. Rip the one he loves right out of his arms again. He's so tired. He's so angry. As for Danica....she lost them all. Her most beloved friends. Two of them right before her eyes. She was completely alone. She couldn't take it. She couldn't.

Now they tried to get them back. They really did. They begged and pleaded but came up with nothing. So they decided to just bring it all down. And that's how this doomed future came to be. Danica was its Queen. Danica has Celebi. So the group knows what to do.

Fast forwarding again, they defeat Danica thanks to Zora ( arceus blood), make the Doomed Future not so Doomed, and get Celebi to get the fuck out of there. This doesn't take as long as pla does. In fact, for Barry, Zora and Silver, it's just a matter of days( thanks Barry) and for Danica and Volo in the present time, it's literally a few second( time did stop lol).

Side note: Silver is progressively getting worse throughout their journey. Somehow, whatever is being done to Celebi by Queen Danica is affecting him, so these three are really on a tense clock to fix shit, or else Silver fucking dies.

And that's the idea! No clue if it'll be canon or not! Also just saying this now, this entire thing was inspired by pokemon Rejuvenation and pokemon explorers of time!

So, it's pretty obvious the Teal Mask part of the Scarlet and Violet DLC is based on the fairy tale about Momotaro. I picked it up just by looking at the pokemon shown in preview images. So it feels weird that the Indigo Disk totally changes course with a tournament arc righr? At least that's what it sounded like at first, when they said Blueberry Academy has a focus on pokemon battles.

But as usual I had to see what insights Bulbapedia had about Terapagos. The lovely people on there always have wonderful triva sections for the Pokemon and characters. We'll, Terapagos' mentions a mythical turtle creature called minogame.. a few quick searches revealed some fun connections.

Edit: I FUCKING KNEW IT

minogame is described as a turtle so old that it has seaweed growing of its back. They're symbols of longevity and other attributes like wisdom and happiness (they kinda varied by website I looked at when taking a peak into this).

But minogame also relate to another fairy tale about a boy named Urashima Taro, where a fisherman rescues a turtle that turns out to be a princess, the daughter of Ryujin and she takes him to a palace under the sea. When he gets home he finds that 300 years have passed instead of the 3 days he perceived it as. He ends up opening a jeweled box the princess gave him but told him not to open, the magic escapes and he ages instantly. Ending varies but usually he either turns into a crane (another symbol or longevity), jumps into the sea to rejoin her and is rejuvenated, or crumbles to dust as the lost time catches up.

The kicker here is the Indigo Disk happens to take place at an academy that is...out on the sea!

And a jeweled box full of magic? Makes sense when jewels have been a big motif in the game, especially the tail end of it.

And one more thing..

That crown it has in the scarlet/violet book might be a terastal hat...meaning it could have its own unique terastalized state. Could be a load of shit too, but it's a fun thought.

oh my goodness most ask of all time. but uhhh fun fact! i have played 3 pokemon games to completion ever. pokemon emerald, pokemon reborn, and pmd: explorers of sky ^_^''!!! i found out about reborn because my friends played it, and now here i am. i have barely played any pokemon games and much less pokemon fangames!!!! unless you count rejuvenation which i've got like 5 hours of gametime in. but i don't. ive got nothing to say about the game. i've got like 5 hours of gametime in it

pokemon REBORN THOUGH. i blow up. i fucking adore pokemon reborn. it's so fun. as a residential fall asleep in english classer i'm not confident enough in my abilities to call any media Good as fact. but. i had so much fun with the game and plot. the characters are charming and appealing and the ones that aren't are done so intentionally so they are still interesting anyways!!!!!!!! theres a reason why i constantly draw them hanging out- because they are fun to think about!!!! it has it's moments where you lean back and go "ah right this is a self proclaimed darker grittier pokemon game with more mature themes" and have to take a big drag of your cigar because of it but it has so many moments that are just GOOD and ENJOYABLE that it is VERY EASY TO LOOK PAST!!!

Hmm, there's not a whole lot that I haven't already covered in some of my previous posts (both ones specific to Aevia and my big general Rejuvenation headcanon post), so plenty may just be elaborating further on stuff I've already mentioned, but let's see...

-Aevia first partners were her starter, Popplio, Swablu, and a Nidoran male. After her first ever gym battle with Venam she gets inspired to raise Poison types primarily, but also raises several Fairy types as well

-For someone who's a traveling trainer, she's very bad with dealing with the elements. Like mentioned she gets cold easily, but she also hates humidity and has a shockingly low amount of knowledge on anything outdoors that isn't related to Pokemon. She's also surprisingly physically weak, but that's moreso because of OG Aevia's body more than anything

-On that note, has zero qualms about her body and name not truly being her own, especially post Chapter 15 when og Aevia seems perfectly fine with that too. She just wants to be seen in her own style and her own personality more than anything

-Loves puns, and while part of that is just genuine enjoyment of wordplay, it's a very harmless way of annoying the shit out of her loved ones

-oh yeah and while it's pretty obvious, she is in fact, horribly traumatized by each and every one of her deaths. No doubt she'd die again if it was to try and protect someone she loves, like she did with Melia in the alternate timeline, but it still weighs down on her heavily especially when she learns she'll have no more second chances the next time she does (well, granted not that she's aware of the black box deal, meaning technically she has as many chances as her black box not being destroyed allows her, but ya know all 3 of her deaths were total annihilation in some way)

-She likes to sleep, as I've mentioned before, but being made from a Black Box kind of means she is basically able to fall asleep almost anywhere and very quickly like flipping an off switch. Surprises Melia in particular how fucking fast she's out like a light (especially in the alternate timeline, Melia has zero idea how she was falling asleep so quickly)

-Her actual previous life (not og Aevia), she was extremely interested in Pokemon and researching them, which is why she's incredibly good at raising the Pokemon she owns, as while she doesn't remember her past life, the memory and knowledge is still there deep down. On that note, she was also very lonely then and didn't even make it to adulthood, hence her being a forgotten soul before being made the Interceptor.

First try with cheesing i made it to her last mon(corviknight) but i accidentally ran out of potions…somehow

Took 3 tries with cheesing but I beat her

Okay I am going to a little review for this version. Overall I think I would give this chapter a B+ or a B.

My favorite path without a doubt was Erin+Kanon’s route. I loved exploring Angie’s mansion and I adored the atmosphere of the place itself. The map and tilesets were just really well done. I used Erin’s team without the Interceptor…well intervening with our pkmn and I felt like the difficulty was just right. I stuggled but all I needed to do was change my strategy. The atmosphere with the maids and the ost complemented the environment so well. Erin was great and she’s probably a contender for one of my favorites in the game…ignoring Aelita of course. The path also added a lot onto the Vitus situation and what interactions might happen in the endgame since we still don’t know his whereabouts.

Next would have to be either Aelita or the Player’s path. Personally, the path’s were kinda along the same in terms of ranking but I feel like their was more that happened in the player’s path that personally felt more relevant. It was nice seeing the player’s past self and their history with Crescent back in Miera…which begs the question, how old is Crescent??? Geniunely what is the timeline between the events at Miera with the player and the player heading to Gearen…Also thank you developers for not making Crescent have a past romantic relationship with the player…I have seen this happen too many times in other games and shows. Let them just be besties. Looking back at it, this part was kinda dialogue heavy but that problem is alleviated from the puzzles and good interactions in both routes.

The only problem I felt is that…imo Rune left as soon as she came. Ig since we found out she’s the puppet master she was always there but…i felt like we should’ve seen her as Rune just a bit longer…Also the twist regarding her and Huey’s background also kinda felt like it should’ve been alluded to earlier(unless they did hint to it earlier and i just forgot) because it didn’t feel like much. Still a good route tho, a solid B.

My least favorite was Melia+Venam+Ren’s route. I kinda felt like this route was shorter than the other one’s looking back at it. Gameplay wise there wasn’t much happening there save for the battle with Cassandra. The underground area also wasn’t really special overall. There was some interesting tidbits regarding the Archetype and the Garufans but it hasn’t really payed off yet in the story. The trio’s interactions were just okay, I liked their interactions in Goldenwood but their dialogue in the underground place was meh. Though I loved Nim and I am happy to know she has changed sides, I can’t wait to see more of her.

The developers knocked it out of the park with this version! I only talked about the additions to the main story but I went back to earlier places that got upgraded and woa Sheridan and Goldenrood look phenomenal! Route 3 and Phasial cave got changed and they look superb. I’ll miss Route 4 but the reservoir looks amazing so far and I am impressed with how they are handling the rift dens! Also making gigantamax mons function like mega evolutions is genius. Also the aevium forms are really nice and my favorite is the alolan mareep that I can’t get :)))))))))))

Also I started over to see changes made with the beginning cutscene and man the ship looks better and the additions with the full artwork of characters is great. I want to play this game again in the future(probably during winter break since I am going to be busy for awhile) on normal mode with a monotype team but I haven’t decided which one yet :o

That’s it with main story additions, I am going to have to go back and catch any new pokemon added in the game.
