okay so part 2 to my first post she said yes (obviously why wouldn’t she) and we’ve been dating for almost a month and i’m so glad i asked her to be my gf cus all last year i kept having crushes and each one would either get a bf or already have one and to be fair these weren’t like BIG crushes but i did want to like her to know them and take them on dates but it made me have really bad self confidence and just all around i wasn’t super duper happy with how my life was going but she’s like the perfect gf cus we were already friends and talked a lot in school and now we talk even more (somehow). plus she liked me first so that’s +6 making her a 16 but we ft every night and usually end up falling asleep on the ft together which is frickin awesome. i feel like we’re so close and i love it. we talk abt all sorts of things. i remember one time we talked abt smth and it brought up an insecurity of hers and i felt so bad cus i made her feel self conscious so i had to make sure she understood how pretty she was but i didn’t really wanna tell her how funny and how much of a good person she is cus i didn’t wanna take it too fast and make it awkward yk? i don’t know how to transition into the next part so this is my transition we also play games together and had our first date a while back (we wanted it earlier but it was hard for us to find a date that worked for both) and we were both nervous so i tried to kind of take initiative (idk if that’s the right word) while also giving her the space she needed to still be comfortable but it was so much fun we went bowling (she is not good at it) and to the arcade and just had a fun time all around and i really hope that we stay dating for a long time cus idk if i’ll ever find someone like her again. shes really one of the few BIG crushes i’ve like someone i can really see myself with yk? point is i really like her and if we broke up i really don’t know what i do. i usually try to distance and kind of keep my emotions in check so i don’t get too far ahead in a relationship just for it to not work out so it doesn’t hurt as much but i really can’t do it with her cus 1) i feel like i’m cheating her out of a real relationship and 2) i just can’t, i always go “hooray” whenever she messages me or wants to call it’s always so fun being with her and just talking with her gives me butterflies (can’t believe i’m typing that rn🤢🤮) i really just wanna have a future with her and do all the cringey couple stuff that couples do so yeah i just had a little update for everyone i’m gonna go hide myself in a hole now cus i’m actually really embarrassed by even just typing this let alone posting it

Do you think Dean is Bi or Gay?

lol, there’s a leading question with an agenda behind it if I’ve ever seen one. (And how many people was this sent to? I’m on here in a super scattered way anymore [sidenote, every time I get on I run into a massive wall of 900 chinese-boys-in-love-posts, friends, please learn to either queue or tag] and I saw this exact thing sent to someone else.) But -- why not, I’ve got fifteen minutes before a meeting and I’ll engage with it generously.

So first thing: there’s a difference between canon and fanon. Fandom seems to be having some trouble with that, lately. Meta posts are not the same thing as proof and the fact that all of your girlfriends hang out and get super duper excited about something doesn’t mean it’s related to canon at all, or right for whatever story you’re talking about.

Second thing: Word of God is important but it isn’t the be-all. end-all of interpretation. I’m a big fan of ‘the author is dead’ and text-as-text interpretation and a lot of times just because someone said they intended to put something into the text doesn’t mean they actually did.

VERY FUCKING IMPORTANT CAVEAT TO THE SECOND THING: you should still take the text seriously for what it’s intending to show you and not wildly invent things that you decide are ‘really, honestly actually canon because the author is dead let’s have a party wooooooo’. This is part of why so many English classes (and English majors) suck. Interpretation should be a mostly-logical exercise where you engage with the text seriously for what it is. Anyway.

Third thing, for what you’re getting at: Dean in canon is pretty much a straight dude. That’s what we see on screen. We can gesture at ‘clues’ (although a lot of the clues are iffy at best) for times he might not have been one hundred percent into pussy, but be honest: he’s basically straight, cis, etc. Even with the panties. Even with whatever flirting or fluster you think you might see. He likes the ladies. That’s fine.

What I think is a potentially canonical read, but it’s happening very very very under the surface of the text and is therefore just interesting at a speculation level: Dean may have had sex with men. Does that make him gay? Probably not. Jensen Ackles says he’s straight and so does, uh, everyone else involved with production, so we can probably take Word of God seriously on this one. If you’re really really honest with yourself, do you really think Dean’s harboring some secret queer imaginings of slowdancing with a guy? I hope not. The idea that Dean may have had sex with men isn’t contravened by canon representations, I don’t think, but canon doesn’t do much to support the idea that he’s looking for male handholding love. Like, at all. (Except, arguably, with Sam, but that’s still a platonic love even if you think it might shade toward romantic. However, Sam and Dean’s relationship is so outsized and strange that it’s more appropriate to consider it as an exception to any other identities they might hold.)

Fourth: for what I write, which is separate-from-but-informed-by-canon, I do... pretty much whatever I want for what the story needs. With that said, I still want it to feel like Dean from canon, because that character is the one that I value. Fanon Dean can fuck off, he’s... bizarre. My preferred way to write him, I think, is as ostensibly bi but preferring men--call it bisexual but mostly homoromantic. (As opposed to Sam, who I like writing as mostly straight and, honestly, pretty aromantic, but with a Dean exception.) ((Sidenote, to the bud who wrote in asking me to expand on the ace/aro divide with Sam and Dean, I see you but that’s a longer thought process so I’ll get to it later.))

All of which is to say, for point 5: idk why you care what I think, bud. It doesn’t have much to do with the character Dean Winchester on the show that is now over. Regardless of how many ultra-cringey fandom ‘events’ twitter has to pretend otherwise. Dean was cool and now we get to play with him in our fic -- his fictional sexuality doesn’t really have much to do with that.

Sexiled LN thoughts!

So I kind of only even bought this short, two part LN series because from the description I got the impression there would be some yuri. And sure. There was a little yuri. Just a few crumbs of yuri. But you know what there was way more of? Over the top sexism. Like I get that was the whole point but yikes. Kind of cringey to read. Actually amazon had been recommending it to me for months but I didn't look into it because the title made me think "Just more hetero smut" which really, is not my thing. I'm really only doing this post because I bought it, I read it, it's something to talk about y'know? So where to start. Guess a basic synopsis? So our protagonist. Well one of them I guess. Our MAIN protagonist is a 25 year old lady called Tanya. She's a super duper skilled mage adventurer, and (As the title suggests) she's just been kicked out of her party by her sexist leader literally just for being a woman. He was like "Hahaha, I'm totally doing you a favour. You're getting older, you weak women need something to protect you. adventuring is no place for you. Now you can go get married and have kids and settle down right. That's what you women like to do isn't it?" Like apparently that's what all women aspire to be? Kayyyyyyyyy. Ya tool. Anyway she's now pretty pissed off. Rightfully so, as because this whole world is super duper sexist, nobody backs her up and helps her stay in the group. Why she'd want to stay in the group is beyond me, but irrelevant. She goes to the nearby wasteland to let off some steam by swearing gratuitously and setting off explosion magic everywhere she can. Upon blowing up a mountain (Yeah this 'weak' woman totally needs protection....) she might have accidentally freed Laplace, a mythical sorceress who's been sealed away for 300 years, during which time someone has being doing a pretty nasty PR campaign against her. Anyway to simplify what follows. This duo, being pretty wronged by men decide to team up, get a little yuri (I mean, they just kiss a few times.), and get revenge on the men who wronged them on various levels. Along the way they get a few supporters, also all women and yeah. That's really, without going into spoilers, that's the whole basic plot. Big girl power, anti sexism revenge story. Overall... It was fine? The sheer amount of swearing in it was pretty jarring to me with how many LN's I read, it just felt... wrong? Translators choice i guess.

I'm kind of trying to think of stuff to expand on, but there isn't really anything. We get good moments of crushing the super bad sexist dudes, which is good. Who doesn't like it when dumb misogynists get a good hard kick in the pants by a super powered magic knight lady? I did also find it amusing when our protagonist is trying to explain why she's wearing like, the classic platemail bikini you see in MMO's and such for women, and the 300 year old sealed sorceress is just like "Nah dude. That makes no sense. You're going to get cold, and that has absolutely no protection." Turns out all these super sexists rules for women are in place by this super sexist, impotent incel dude who sealed her away in the first place, all because women didn't like him. Apparently that meant women were wrong, not that he should reflect on himself as a person. But that's what that whole incel thing is, innit? Which.... I honestly find kind of hard to believe. An equal society isn't going to turn to extreme levels of sexism just because a single old dude that LITERALLY NOBODY IN POWER EVEN LIKES says so. Especially in a fantasy world where super duper magic exists, and physical strength differences between genders does not matter. "What, you want to take away my rights and restrict me. Hm.... let me think about it.... No. Also I just cast a fireball on you. You're a dead pile of ash and bone now. Enjoy trying to start your sexist movement. oh wait..." I feel it would go a lot more like that. Anyway, that's really my thought's on sexiled. It's all a bit overdone, but it wasn't terrible. Wouldn't exactly recommend it, but it did exactly what it wanted to. End!

Whoops, sorry for the late reply...I have a lot of stuff in my backlog to do like my Aqours panel recap post that’s been delayed for almost a month now;; and I kept losing track of time.

Uhhh....how should I explain this? 😂

To be quite honest, I’m kind of a noob at wota stuff so y’all can feel free to correct me if I mess up with the explanation at any point here;; 

Well, let’s go with the vocab first. “IE TAIGAAA” (イエッタイガー) pretty much means something like “YEAH TIGER” (Japanese technically doesn’t have a “ye” character, so stuff like “yay” is written as “iei”). It’s sometimes written as 家虎 (ie tora, “house tiger”) because that’s what it sounds like in kanji, haha. “Taiga/tiger” is a well-known phrase among the chants that you hear otaku screaming during idol concerts. I believe the original mix it stems from is something like “TAIGA FAIYA SAIBA FAIBA DAIBA VAIBA JYA JYA” (Tiger Fire Cyber Fiber Diver Viber Jya Jya).

And to explain what chants and wotagei is...well, that’s a whole ‘nother topic, but long story short: in Japanese culture, fans do these special chants and dance routines to the tune of idol songs during concerts. Most Love Live fans probably at least know of the “call and response” routines that the seiyuu do at their introductions, but wota is something that the audience does to participate and connect with the seiyuu during the performance itself. The “taiga” thing and the “Standard MIX” it originates from has been a longtime part of idol otaku culture, but got really big during the rise of AKB48.

If you’re interested, you can read up on the topic more with this helpful Reddit guide to concert chants and wotagei, or by checking out the Sas YouTube channel for video demonstrations featuring Aqours cyalumes, or even perusing the ONIBE callbooks for a quick guide on wota.

Anyways, that chant has evolved to become “IE TAIGAAA”, the stereotypical call for rambunctious fans screaming their chants at concerts. As you might have guessed, not everyone appreciates these overly excited fans, so certain wota calls like these have gained a reputation for being so annoying that it automatically triggers people who hear it. Like, something along the lines of “i s2g if i hear something IE TAIGAAAing at the live i’ll give them something else to scream about” levels of rage, lol.

In the context of Aqours lives, this particular call is connected to “Koi ni Naritai AQUARIUM”, which happens to be a pretty great song for wota because of its long instrumental break and plenty of moments in the song for audience calls. There happens to be a sort of “master mix” (i.e. a super duper otaku version of the calls) for the wota of the song, which you can view on YouTube here. The “IE TAIGAAA” call for KoiAqua happens right before the chorus, when You sings her “I miss you~” line at about 1:22. It’s kind of an intense mix, but I can tell you that a member of Team ONIBE has actually memorized the rap that occurs during the instrumental break. :3c

It’s supposed to be kinda cringey to do something like the master wota mix at a live where the actual cast is present, because it’s already hard enough for fans to keep up with the normal calls while trying to enjoy the performance itself without getting disrupted by obnoxious wotaing. At the very least, it’s eyeroll-inducing if you hear “IE TAIGAAA” during KoiAqua.

tl;dr: “IE TAIGAAA” is a call used during concerts, particularly at a climactic point in “Koi ni Naritai AQUARIUM”, and is known for being annoying af due to otaku screaming the phrase like their lives depended on it. It’s basically this.

7x01-7x02 A quieter opener than usual for DS9. Sisko is trying to find himself through finding the Prophets. DS9 is still deeply in grief for the ones they lost, and Worf leads a group of them on a search for blood sacrifice to honor Jadzia's death. 7x02 introduces ~THE NEW DAX~ Sisko and Dax together again as they roadtrip to find the Prophets! Things get incredibly fucking trippy as they travel through the desert in search of answers, as DS9 goes fucking ALL IN on the Jesus metaphors

7x03 Dax is back, but she's not the same Dax who died there and is struggling to find a new place in her old home. Unexpectedly, she ends up bonding with Garak as she tries to treat him for his claustrophobia

7x04 BASEBALL EPISODE!!!!! BASEBALL BASEBALL BASEBALLLLLLLLLLL

B A S E B A L L

7x05 Bashir is really really lonely. Things get a little uncomfortable as the Augments come back, and he desperately latches back onto them. It's a painful episode, in some sad ways and some cringey ways, but I appreciate how everyone involved understands how awful loneliness is and the terrible things it can drive you to do

7x06 This episode is why everyone loves Weyoun, as we finally explore what it means to be a vorta FEATURING TWO WEYOUN CLONES BITCHING AT EACH OTHER. B-plot is HILARIOUS AND AWESOME as Nog teaches O'Brien how to Ferengi his way through problems

7x07 what does it mean to be old in Klingon society?

7x08 Exactly what it sounds like, an intense episode as a bunch of the DS9 crew bunker down on an planet under attack for a siege. Pay extra attention to Nog in this episode

7x09 DUKAT THE CULT LEADER, in a super creepy episode he kidnaps Kira to try to induct her. This episode is literally just CULT CULT CULT for 40 min, as it delves into religion and also all the horrible things that can happen when your leader demands complete obedience. WARNING: suicide

7x10 a FANTASTIC episode with Nog dealing with PTSD by hiding in a holoprogram with Vic. Once again DS9 is unafraid to delve deeply into hard topics and does it beautifully

7x11 a Ezri episode that delves into her family backstory. It's a total mess of an episode that came about because they literally kept throwing out ideas until finally they had to write the whole episode in 2 days. But if you like Ezri, or you want more information about her to help you like her, then this is a good one to watch

7x12 the Ferengi go to Mirror-verse in a completely ridiculous episode that totally gives up the pretense of Mirror-verse being serious. My favorite part is Rom desperately trying to figure out what the rules of a MIRROR-verse are

7x13 This is definitely my least favorite episode of the entire DS9 run and I cannot in any way subjectively write this primer. I JUST HATE IT SO MUCH. Mostly because there is so much there that I love the idea of! Ezri hunting a serial killer by letting out her own serial killer past life - it's all very Hannibal and such a great idea. There's even a Vulcan character! But no. It's terrible and badly written and just... I hate it so much. I have very visceral memories of ending that episode feeling like betrayed by how much I hated it, from a series I love so much

7x14 I did NOT hate this episode, a beautiful Odo piece focusing on how much Odo has been suppressing himself to better fit in with the solid (non-Changeling) society he lives in as he meets a non-Dominion Changeling. It's a really fantastic episode that has lots of stuff about assimilation and the insidiousness of fear

7x15 HEIST EPISODE!! OCEAN'S 11 IN SPAAAAACE!!! This is such a fun episode, oh my god and it's your last silly romp before things get REAL as we careen towards the end of the series. GET TO WATCHING :DDD WARNING: Kira is so insanely attractive that you may have a heart attack, I know I always do

7x16 Section 31 returns! This is based on an ACTUAL John le Carre novel as Bashir the Spy tries to save the day by ousting the evil group and keeping Romulus safely in the Federation! Darker than I or Bashir expected it to be. Life isn't like the holoprograms...

7x17-7x26 the TEN PART finale!!!

7x17 Ben and Kassidy are HELLA CUTE! Worf and Dax are HELLA AWKARD!

7x18 this entire episode is a series of anguished NOOOOOOs. BEN NO. WORF NOOOO. WINN, SUPER DUPER NOOOOOOOO.

7x19 the theme of this episode is alliances, both literal (between Cardassia and the Dominion) and figurative (marriages, both past and present) and spiritual (Kai Winn struggles with her faith) and what they mean for both parties. Also, Damar's death wish becomes canon

7x20 you're going to cry in this episode. That’s it, that’s all I’m giving you

7x21 Kira is forced to help the Cardassians by teaching them the same rebellion techniques that she once used against them. Odo gets sick, and Bashir tries to figure out how and why

7x22 The Cardassian rebellion struggles, both with it's own identity and with having a Bajoran leader as Nana shows off some of her finest acting ever. Not to be outdone, Klingons are having their OWN revolution, because why not

7x23 Bashir and O'Brien infiltrate Section 31 to try to find a cure for Odo! and by infiltrate I mean they're going FULL INCEPTION

7x24 A new Grand Nagus is crowned! The rebellion gears up for its last stand in Garak's childhood home! WE BARREL FORWARD TOWARDS THE END

7x25 goodbye my darlings. you had an amazing run

1. What is your biggest writing hurdle? Getting distracted. Or getting stuck by my perfectionism and not being able to continue writing.

2. What is the work of fiction (written, filmed or otherwise) that made you interested in storytelling? I don't know. I always loved reading and used to write some short stories when I was little... I think that I actually started after reading Eragon because I remember I was like "this guy wrote a book at 15? I can do that too and write something better!" and then ended up writing a cringey Eragon fic to kick Eragon's butt...and then I switched to a something like epic-fantasy story that I never completed.

3. Name the most underrated character in fiction. Why did you choose them? Oh, gosh...right now I feel my mind going blank. When I'll remember what I was going to write, I'll edit this post!

4. Do you have a day job you love, or one you would drop in an instant if you could make money off your writing? I'd really love to make money off my writing (or off my photos) but right now I'm unemployed and I think that I'll be fine with a job that isn't that but helps me earn something.

5. What subjects in fiction are squicky to you? Rape is a big nope together with incest. Abuse it's okay only if it makes sense in the story and isn't added only to have "some drama". Also, as I said in another tag game, I'm not fond of gratuitous splatter/gore so if descriptions gets too graphic for their "meaning" in the story, I won't like it.

6. What’s the most experimental piece of writing you’ve done, and why did you write it? My third wip, the collection of short stories, could be an experimental piece since I plan to add short stories where I experiment styles and way to describe things. The first short story I completed is an experimental "melancholic" piece written in second person, so with the main character that narrates some memories to their best friend...and there's more about that, but I don't want to spoil the story!

7. Do you budget your time or are you more of a free-spirit? It depends. When comes to writing, I'm more of a free spirit like I write when I want (or when I can) and until I have the right inspiration. Same for the novel-related researches, because if I do it when I'm uninspired I can look at a page for hours without remembering what I was reading.

8. What’s the one project/story/work that most makes you want to jump ship on your current WIP? When I see other writers posting stuff about their wips/projects/completed works here on Tumblr makes me want to jump back on working on my current wip even when I still need to complete all the outlines and worlbuilding.

9. Are there any genres you despise, or have no plans writing in? Romance. It's so popular, but I have no understanding of it and I personally don't like reading a whole book about people falling in love and stuff like that. And since I don't understand romance, I think that the "romantic subplot" or whatevs will be really rare in my works. Military-related stories & historical are another couple of genres that I have no plans of writing. I’d like to try detective/thriller stories, but I feel like I’m not suited for this genre of narrative, so I probably won’t write about that.

10. Have you ever played a pen and paper RPG? If not, is it something you’re interested in? I played in a tabletop RPG created by the DM, but it was 5 hours of throwing dices and the DM was also one of my middle school bullies and I still have grudges. And he's a bit of an egomaniac. I played (and still playing, even if I'm planning to leave because of lots of internal problems with people entering staff to do what they want) an online version of a pen&paper RPG. Actually I played in different rpgs like that, but this is the one that got me stay longer...and also it's the place where a couple of the characters (that I changed and adapted, of course) of Beyond the Veil are born!
