images of my process when i drew the king new vegas, which was particularly important for him as i wanted him to very clearly be "elvis presley"
the in-game model was a good starting point, but i felt like he didnt really look like elvis, though im sure the devs did what they could, considering the limitations of the character creation stuff... so i mostly looked at pics of the real elvis and art that depicted a more realistic elvis, like @spursthatjingle 's drawing of the king!
I started with trying to be as "on-model" as i could, just to get the main shapes and character, then drawing him again without looking at any references and depending on what stuck in my mind - things that stood out and might make someone more unique. then, refining by looking at inspirational art that i wanted to add pieces of, like @t00thpasteface 's the king drawings, as well as agent elvis' design (face shape, nose and nose bridge, eyebrows, and his eyes) (i love drawing the eyes theyre so funky) (and his LIPS!! lineart upper lip so good... save me lineart upper lip)
and then i blacked out and the drawing was done. YIPPEE

IDW Sonic issue 57 loose thoughts...
Lanolin finally gets to be a character, yippee!!
For those that don't know, Lanolin was first a background character designed by Adam Bryce Thomas for the second issue! Adam Bryce Thomas got attached to the design and fit her into more backgrounds, and later so did other artists! Seeing how Lanolin already had a character sheet long before her proper introduction, a name, and a general acceptance by the other artists (Evan Stanley drew her for one of her winter outfit sets one year) I wonder if her proper introduction got pushed back. I believe Sega asked some for some characters to have their introductions pushed back, but I can't think any evidence right now so I could be misremembering! Lanolin also got a bit of a redesign, now with a cool bell styled wispon to replace her cowbell, a curly tail, and a new magenta wisp friend named Maggie. Compare her old model sheet to the photo above!
Bonus trivia: Lanolin is a type wax sheep secrete that protects their wool. It's used by us in almost everything that uses wax, but mainly moisturizers!
Casual readers not investing in the background process may be surprised at just how often Lanolin shows up before this issue!
Lanolin as a character in this issue, kinda seems like a substitute for Sally Acorn. She's kind of a generic animal, has no real special skills or abilities (besides her cool bell wispon), but despite that has a rounded skill set (maybe a reference to many applications of lanolin wax?), and seems to excel at leading field work. Lanolin is to Sally Acorn as Surge is to Scourge. I know the writers are trying very hard to bring the freedom fighters back, but I'm not sure it's going to happen at this point. But I like the new characters and so far Surge has been proven to be very much more than just a Scourge clone.
I think I could see Lanolin and Jewel being co-directors like how Amy and Knuckles were in the resistance. Jewel does the paperwork, logistics, and humanitarian efforts and Lanolin leads the proactive, offensive, field efforts.
Okay enough about Lanolin, the other thing I wanted to talk about is the Eggperial city, which in this issue is revealed to be using the same tech as Eggman's vr tower in Test Run. I always though Test Run was one of the weaker arcs and felt like it had no real purpose or payoff (besides the Belle side stuff) but now it does! I'll have to revisit that arc now with a different perspective.
Also I don't know how I didn't pick up on this in Test Run but the portals Eggman is using is probably the warp topaz! Tails and him supercharged it during the Metal Virus and now it seems Eggman's found it and is supercharging it again (or maybe a convincing fake?) Having another magic rock might make the magic rock department a little bloated but I like the warp topaz, and not just because I am God's chosen Starline warrior. It will be neat to find out exactly how he is using it in the coming issues!
Adam Bryce Thomas and Matt Herms also did a wonderful job on the interior artwork as usually. I particularly like the page were Lanolin and Tangle descend into the mine, excellent paneling and excellent use of space!
My favorite cover this issue was cover A by Min Ho Kim, but unfortunately my local comic book store did not have it! Oh well! Until Next Month!!
#idw sonic spoilers#idw sonic#idw sonic 57#lanolin the sheep#sth#i had a lot of thoughts about new character Lanolin!

To Your Eternity – 01 (First Impressions) – A Dog and His Boy
Happy Monday Everybody! Are you ready to…bawl your fuckin’ eyes out?! I know I am. Welcome to To Your Eternity, one of the Spring’s most anticipated series. As always, I enter completely in the dark, unsure of what’s in store for me. Yippee!
It is sent to Earth, a tabula rasa of an entity that can take the form of things it encounters. First it’s a small and basic white sphere, then a rock, then the moss on that rock, then a white wolf that dies on that mossy rock. Fantasia and 2001 came to mind. The visuals and music are epic, and given greater gravitas with Tsuda Kenjirou’s narration.
Then, the wolf reaches a small settlement. Of the handful of huts, only one is occupied by a single boy. The last boy. He knows the wolf; it’s his wolf, Joaan. He welcomes him home, glad he’s no longer alone.
The boy makes dinner and shows Joaan how to eat. He talks of the others who left the village to find “Paradise” but promised to return with gifts. He stayed to take care of the elderly. That was five years ago. Some days pass, and the boy decides it’s time to stop waiting, leave the village, and head to paradise himself, with Joaan in tow.
The boy leaves his home with a sense of finality, like he won’t be returning. He drew pictures of everyone who lived there to show others that they lived. He trudges through the snow, following helpful arrow markers, camps for the night. His nose and fingers gradually become raw and red. One day, he falls through the ice.
He manages to avoid hypothermia, but he has a nasty gash in his left thigh. He dresses it, but the wound swells and festers. Joaan can only watch. The boy speaks for Joaan, carrying on a conversation with himself to keep himself optimistic. But the frozen tundra and his wound continue to wear him down.
The boy is in a very bad way when he comes across a final arrow marker X’ed out with blood, and close by, a host of graves and the ruins of a wagon. With nothing but more frozen tundra everywhere he looks, the boy grapples with the fact the others never reached paradise…or maybe they did, but had to perish to do so.
With no further markers, the boy has no choice but to return home. The weather worsens, as does his health. He feverishly crawls back through the door he so confidently closed for good when he first set out. He manages to get one more fire going, but the cold outside and his leg have already decided how this ends. We’re now firmly in Grave of the Fireflies territory.
The final choice the boy has is how to die. He does so sitting in a chair with the faces of the village, along with himself and Joaan, drawn on the wall. With one final smile, he hunches over and dies, his suffering at an end, and his journey to paradise complete as he reunites with all the other villagers. Triggered by the boy’s death, It transforms from Joaan to the boy, in search of more stimulation. From death, rebirth. But rebirth to something not quite what it had been.
It’s a triumphant glimmer of hope after an episode that was largely watching a happy-go-lucky kid die in agonizing slow motion as his unrelenting environment ground him into dust. This show absolutely wrecked me, but I’m glad to have watched it. It isn’t often anime—or anything on a screen—moved me to this extent. I hadn’t gone through so many tissues watching a single episode in quite a while!
Was this perfection? No. The music is almost uniformly excellent (and the OP is an absolute banger) but there was one out-of-place track that sounded like it was from a far older and less serious show. As good as some of Joaan the wolf’s expressions were, the animal modeling was all over the place, esp. in wider shots. Finally, as invested as I was in the poor doomed kid, he talked a lot. More Cast Away-style silent storytelling would have been welcome. Then again, boundless optimism was literally keeping him alive.
But those are minor quibbles. To Your Eternity is primo prestige shit with the potential to be a classic. It made me feel just about fucking everything! It’s a hell of a neat concept: a completely neutral “entity” that observes, then meets the conditions for transformation—a kind of Kino’s Journey, only Kino is a full-on alien. Considering the next episode involves some kind of child sacrifice, I fear we’re in for more misery than jubilation. But it doesn’t matter…I must watch on.

Social Media Marketing, Truth and Lies
Social Media Marketing is by all accounts the most recent popular expression for anybody hoping to build their online nearness and deals, however is Social Media Marketing (SMM) so amazing?
S.M.M organizations are currently jumping up everywhere nowadays and they are enlightening anybody that will listen concerning how inconceivably significant social media like Facebook twitter and YouTube are to your business at the same time, for the normal little to medium measured business, does marketing to social systems truly satisfy all the publicity? Is spending a little fortune on employing a SMM organization extremely justified, despite all the trouble? Furthermore, has anybody truly done their exploration on this before they recruited somebody to set up there Facebook business page? Some SMM organizations are setting up things like Facebook business pages (which are free) for $600 to $1,000 or more and telling their customers that they needn't bother with a site in light of the fact that Facebook is the greatest social system on the planet and everyone has a Facebook account. Presently while the facts may prove that Facebook is the biggest social system on the planet and truly, Facebook's individuals are expected shoppers, the genuine inquiry is would they say they are really purchasing? Social media marketing organizations are very glad to call attention to the positives of social media like what number of individuals use Facebook or what number of tweets were conveyed a year ago and what number of individuals watch YouTube recordings and so on yet would you say you are getting the full picture? I once sat close to a SMM "master" at a business class who was spruiking to any individual who drew near earshot about the stunning advantages of setting up a Facebook business page for private venture (with him obviously) and selling on Facebook. Along these lines, charmed by the previously mentioned "specialists" counsel I found him on Facebook just to discover he had just 11 Facebook companions (not a decent beginning). So being the examination nut that I am, I chosen to investigate SMM as to offering to check whether it really worked, who accomplished it work for and on the off chance that it did for what reason did Social Media Marketing work for them? Furthermore, should business depend so vigorously on social systems for deals?
As a web engineer I was continually (and now progressively) faced with a few social systems administration challenges when potential customers would state that having a site sounds great however they had a Facebook business page and had been told by different sources (the ever present yet mysterious "they") that social systems were the activity, yet subsequent to examining their necessities it turned out to be very evident that those potential customers didn't really have the foggiest idea why they required social systems or SMM to create online deals, They simply needed it. For little and medium measured business I generally suggested constructing a quality site over a social system, why? Well it's straightforward truly on the grounds that social media is Social Media, and social Systems are Social Systems they are not business media and business arranges (that would be increasingly similar to LinkedIn). I realize that sounds basic yet it's actual and the insights back it up. The truth of the matter is that social media marketing neglects to reveal to you that Facebook is a social system not a web crawler and in spite of the quantity of Facebook clients and Google clients being around the equivalent, individuals don't utilize Facebook similarly that they utilize a web index like Google (which has around a large portion of the web search tool advertise), Yippee and Bing to look for business or items. They use it to stay in contact with loved ones or for news and amusement. In an ongoing report done by the IBM Establishment for Business Incentive around 55% of every social medium clients expressed that they don't draw in with brands over social media Marketing at all and just around 23% very utilize social media to interface with brands. Presently out of the considerable number of individuals who do utilize social media and who do cooperate with brands whether intentionally or not, the larger part (66%) state they have to feel an organization is conveying genuinely before they will collaborate.
So how would you utilize social media marketing? Furthermore, is it even worth doing?
Well above all else I would state that having a very much advanced site is as yet going to bring you undeniably more business that social media as a rule particularly in the event that you are a little to medium measured neighborhood business in light of the fact that unquestionably more individuals are going to type in "beautician Port Macquarie" into a web index like Google, Hurray and Bing than they ever will on any Social Media Webpage and in the event that you don't have a site you're passing up the entirety of that possible business. Anyway in spite of all the (not very great) insights I despite everything think it is as yet a smart thought for business to utilize social media only not similarly that a ton of SMM experts are today, Why? Since it's unmistakably not working in the manner they guarantee it does. Essentially SMM Organizations and Business in general saw social systems like Facebook as a new market ready for the picking and when Facebook began getting clients estimated by the millions PayPal fellow benefactor Dwindle Thiel contributed US$500,000 for 7% of the organization (in June 2004) and since them a couple of funding firms have made ventures into Facebook and in October 2007, Microsoft declared that it had bought a 1.6% portion of Facebook for $240 million. Anyway since Facebook's unassuming beginnings as of recently (2012) both SMM Organizations and Business have neglected to genuinely profit by the colossal number of Facebook clients on the web. In all actuality numbers doesn't rise to purchasers. Is it in a Social Media Marketing organization's wellbeing to talk social systems up? Totally. Is it in a Social System like Facebook's eventual benefits for individuals to accept that organizations can sell all at once by promoting and marketing with them? Obviously it is. In mid 2012, Facebook unveiled that its benefits had hopped 65% to $1 billion in the earlier year as its income which is fundamentally from promoting had bounced practically 90% to $3.71 billion so plainly the idea of SMM is working out for them yet it is working out for you? Well... measurably no, however that doesn't really imply that it never will.
I accept the significant contrast between social systems and web indexes is purpose. Individuals who use Google are purposely scanning for something so in the event that they do a quest for stylists that is the thing that they are searching for at that specific time. With something like Facebook the essential goal is generally to interface with loved ones. In October 2008, Imprint Zuckerberg himself said "I don't figure social systems can be adapted similarly that search (Web search tools) did... In quite a while from now we need to make sense of what the ideal model is. Be that as it may, that isn't our essential concentrate today". Probably the most serious issue business face with social systems and SMM is recognition. As indicated by the IBM Organization for Business Worth investigation there were "noteworthy holes between what organizations think shoppers care about and what purchasers state they need from their social media cooperations with organizations." For instance in the present society individuals are not simply going to hand you over yonder suggestions, Facebook likes, remarks or subtleties without getting something back for it, so the familiar aphorism "how might this benefit me?" becomes an integral factor. So the essential explanation a great many people give for communicating with brands or business on social media is to get limits, yet the brands and business themselves think the principle reason individuals cooperate with them on social media is to find out about new items. For brands and business getting limits just positions twelfth on their rundown of reasons why individuals collaborate with them. Most organizations accept social media will build promotion, however just 38 % of customers concur.
Organizations need to discover increasingly imaginative approaches to associate with social media on the off chance that they need to see a type of result from it. There were some acceptable activities appeared in the IBM investigation of organizations that had gotten a type of an idea about how to utilize social media for their potential benefit, remembering that when asked what they do when they communicate with organizations or brands through social media, shoppers list "getting limits or coupons" and "buying items and administrations" as the best two exercises, separately a U.S frozen yogurt organization called Cold Stone Creamery offered limits on their items on their Facebook page. Then again there is an extraordinary program propelled by Best Purchases in the U.S called Twelpforce where workers can react to client's inquiries by means of Twitter. With both Virus Stone Creamery and Twelpforce the advantage is plainly in the kindness of the potential client and the extraordinary stunt to social media marketing is to sell without attempting to sell (or resembling your selling) shockingly most social media marketing is engaged the incorrect way.
Building a substantial purchaser to buyer relationship by means of social media isn't simple and likely the most advantage to business' utilizing social media to support their sites Google rankings. Be that as it may, business' have to comprehend that you can't simply arrangement a Facebook business page and trust in the best. SMM requires exertion and potential clients need to see an incentive in what you bring to the table through your social media endeavors give them something worth their social collaboration and time and afterward you may show signs of improvement results.
