pc gaming seems like such a difficult thing to get into like i have never really experienced getting into it consciously (i was raised on it) but it feels so inaccessible? pc parts are expensive and you have to make your own build if you want something good and some parts dont work well with others and some games dont work well with some parts (i know ive had trouble with mass effect glitching because of my modern nvidia gpu which required a mod to fix) and even if you get prebuilt or a laptop youre not safe from the troubleshooting. the "can my pc run [game]". the bad pc ports.
and you know the worst part. most pc people are so removed from reality that they dont even realize you probably have no idea what amd and nvidia and intel even are. you dont know the difference between an ssd or a hdd. "how much ram do you want" when you dont know what that means. they start talking about the difference between a 4070 and a 3090 and all you can see is the fucking price tags.
#ramblings#i love you dishonored 2 but you run like shit sometimes#i dont remember the planets but on two specific planets in mass effect 1 og the lighting is broken on nvidia cards iirc#which makes your characters just pixelated black blobs#the mod does have an extensive report on how they fixed the issue and i loved reading through it it was fascinating#i have a ps5 and a gaming laptop (too broke for a pc LMAOO) and when somethings wrong with the ps5 game#i can just google that#but pc games can have such varied interactions with specific parts in your build that sometimes there isnt a solution#sometimes there isnt even a solution sometimes its 'well the game just doesnt like your cpu. sucks to suck'#im literally going into compsci and i still dont know how amd gpu naming works#this is willful ignorance to be fair im running a nvidia card rn#i also only recently kind of figured out how intel names its cpus#these people will also probably talk you into wasting money because to them (to us i should say im also a specs monster)#everything is about the numbers. do you not want 5000 fps to play the sims. nevermind that you could play it fine at 30 or 60 or maybe 144#you dont need 32 gb of ram to play stardew valley and hollow knight will probably run fine on some decade old 2nd hand laptop
