ik this is sooo out of nowhere. but

personally i like to think that a lot of freddy’s “goofiness” or “obliviousness” in security breach is actually just his own attempts at jokes to lighten the mood and maybe cheer gregory up a little

specifically im thinking of his hippo magnet line, or the ones in the elevators where he gets all embarrassed. to me, those never seemed like real reactions, but more exaggerated and silly to try and make a kid laugh. probably something he’d be programmed to do?

more than anything, i think a lot of the “oblivious” characterization comes from how cheery he sounds a lot of the time, and his faith in his bandmates, but even that felt very. keep a good attitude so you dont upset the kid any further. be positive and all that

also just because its cute to think he was trying to get gregory to laugh
