So, there was a post posted in the objectum tags not too long ago. I’m 99% sure this person doesn’t actually believe this stuff and is just trolling to get a reaction. Or maybe I hope that. I have since deleted my reblog as to not draw attention to them, and they are blocked from my blog. But I still wanted to address the post, given that I know that some people actually do think like this. Here is the post, with identifying information cropped out.

I’m going to copy and paste my initial response because I think I made some good points. It should probably be reworded to be less targeted at this specific individual, but I don’t have the energy to do so.

Okay. This is just so blatantly wrong on so many levels that I can’t not address it as one of the larger objectum blogs on here.

First off, this.

You should not be using the r slur like that. Yes, I know you have autism and ADHD. It still doesn’t mean that you can use it in this context. Disregarding the whole discourse about whether autistic people and those with ADHD can even reclaim the r slur (I don’t care enough to get into it), reclaiming involves using a word in a positive context to take power away from those who use it to deride others. It absolutely does not involve slinging slurs at other people as an attack. To do that in a community of majority neurodivergent people is quite frankly really disgusting.

Next, let’s get into this.

For one, “schizo” is also a slur that only psychotic people can reclaim, which based on your intro I don’t think you are. If you mean “schizophrenic” type out the whole word. Schizophrenic. It’s not that hard. Secondly, you don’t get to tell people what their reality is. Reality checking someone in this way can be very dangerous if they are already in an unstable mental state. At worst, you could make someone break down. At worst, someone will just say “lol” and scroll past your post, because the way delusions work is that they are unchanging beliefs.

Okay, last bit.

This is absurd. Yes, I will admit becoming frustrated at times with the objectum community’s obsession with Edgar (I have never seen Electric Dreams). But using that fact to straight up call people posers? This is basically the truscum thing of “X people are faking and aren’t really X label. I can clearly tell what is going on inside their heads and I can tell they’re lying. I know because I’m a real X.” Like, you do realize this, right?? You’re not a mind reader. You have no way to tell if these people experience “genuine attraction” to computers. So logically the right thing to do is to believe people when they say they do.

I can 100% see why you’re struggling to relate to the objectum community if this is how you think. It’s genuinely disgusting.

I’m well aware that this person was likely trolling. But I also know that there are some people who actually think like this. Who do degrade neurodivergent people they don’t like and think it’s okay because “they’re ND too”. Who think psychotic people and those with DCS are a “lesser” part of the objectum community. Who gatekeep obsessively because only their experiences can possibly be real. So I wanted to show that this behavior will be called out in objectum spaces whenever it rears its ugly head.
