Despite the MANY flaws of Tim Burton's adaptation of Sweeney Todd, the one thing he ate was the By the Sea sequence (most of it, anyway). The outfits make me giggle like a kid every time. But ALSO I love how subtle they make Sweeney's tux for the wedding look like a straight jacket. And with the tortured face of a man who does NOT want to be there. Mwah. I'll eat it up every time.

This is unrelated to the intent of the post but I have to share this while I'm seamaxxing.

HE LOOKS SO PROUD AND SO STUPID

#didnt want to be a hater on the main post so ill rant in tags #the one thing that wouldve made By the Sea perfect was if sweeney showed more energy in thr beginning #and then got more and more exasperated like he did in the musical #and i get thats what burton was going for with sweeneys entire character #but i just didnt like that decision in general LMFAO #it takes away from the comedy aspect of sweeney todd being a dark comedy #like even in the string of pearls novel there are comedic scenes that split up the gore and depression #but most of the characters in burtons adaptation are just. vapid?#i dont know. i just wish they kept sweeneys occasional bouts of whimsy #here are the boring tags im done now #sweeney todd #the demon barber of fleet street #sweeney todd 2007
