Okay, Kunigami is slightly trickier for me, so feel free to add your opinions.

When we were first introduced to Kunigami, he was someone with an upright image, someone who also hungers to score goals too, yes, but he'd rather do it "the right way", no tricks involved.

He was also someone who looked after his teammates in his own ways, like when he scored thanks to Isagi and repaid him with food bought with the Blue Lock points he earned from the goal.

But the Wild Card room took his personality and sharpened his hunger for goals and threw the other softer aspects of his personality away.

(it gave me serious whiplash, to be honest)

His expression itself here also shows just how much he has changed from his Team Z days: its colder, more piercing and...entirely different from the "old" Kunigami.

But what made him change so drastically?

Was it the same thing that Isagi realised? That him advancing in Blue Lock essentially means that he has to eliminate other players? crush their hopes and dreams?

I mean, ultimately Isagi learnt how to thrive off defeating others, but it seems to have affected Kunigami differently.

Maybe having to crush the others (in the Wild Card room) in order to climb up and survive drastically warped some part of him, made him realise that his way of doing things "fair and square" won't help him get far in Blue Lock. But that isn't anything different from what he was doing during the First selection arc. Is it the pressure of having to single-handedly defeat the others?

Or was the change in his personality to perfectly emulate Noel Noa? in order to fit into the Bastard Munchen's logical and rational team dynamic? to better understand Noel Noa's playstyle?

Because. It doesn't seem as if Kunigami is meshing well with Bastard Munchen, is it?

At this point, we still don't really know what role he's supposed to play, other than being a copy of Noel Noa, and supposedly to 'guide' Isagi in these matches.

I'm really hoping that we'll get to see him play a bigger role in the current arc, and hopefully see more of this new Kunigami fleshed out, because he feels quite flat as a character to me now.

Also, slight deviation, but: in my opinion, if Kunigami had survived up till now, he would have chosen Manshine City as well. I see Chigiri and Kunigami as pretty similar players in the sense that both Chigiri and his playstyles both rely on their physique: Chigiri with his speed and Kunigami with his strength.

(which is also probably why they get along well and work together well, but thats another essay for another day.)

tl;dr props to Kunigami for surviving the wild card room, but did it really produce the best results? what with Kunigami's former personality being crushed by his current cold and harsh exterior, and he doesn't seem to be meshing well with the Bastard Munchen team either.

☆Kunigami Rensuke- The highschool sweetheart.

White sparkling snow was all that could be seen as far as one's vision could reach. Ofcourse; it was winter. However you despised winter because it always felt a little too cold and uncomfortable for your liking. "I can't believe that I have to go to school in this weather" you mumbled as you left the house in a hurry. Rushing to the bus stop, you realised that you had forgotten your scraf. There were only 2 options with you; you either go home but you'll miss the bus or you start walking right now and hopefully still get the bus. Choosing to go with the latter you sighed and started walking.

Boarding the bus, you let out a huge exhale as you barely made it in time. You made way to your seat while noticing all the familiar faces but what you didn't notice was your seat already quite occupied by a tall figure. When you got closer you finally saw the man; It was Kunigami, the school's total sweetheart. His kind and caring nature, looks that could kill and his athletic body is what made him so popular among the girls. You were popular too dont get me wrong! It's just that you never crossed paths with him, until now. You pondered on the thought of the possible reason that he was here, sitting on your seat when suddenly, a small jerk to the bus made you break out of your train of thoughts. Snickering, Kunigami spoke, " Well aren't you going to take a seat? Or perhaps you're planning to stand the whole ride y/n" You smiled sheepishly and sat beside him. However, being next to him made you unusually nervous; he was your crush after all.

You thanked the Gods or whoever was the reason Kunigami sat next to you on the bus earlier today because currently you were both walking to a nearby coffee shop together. After getting off the bus, Kunigami noticed you shivering by the cold and gave you his scarf. You told him that you were fine but he refused to listen to you. You both talked the whole day and hung out with each other and by the last period, Kunigami asked you out for coffee. You were so engaged with talking to the orange headed boy that you almost failed to notice all the glances Kunigami occasionally took at you. "Thank you again for the scarf Rensuke, I really appreciate it!," you flashed him your signature smile. Breaking the eye contact, he placed his hands in his pockets, "It's alright. You clearly needed it more than me"

Right that moment, you don't know what came over you when you suddenly pulled him by his uniform and kissed him on the lips. Kunigami was dumbfounded but slowly kissed back while pulling you close by the waist. The kiss was warm; contradicting to the cold weather surrounding you both. Finally breaking the kiss, you blurted out a small confession of your love towards him. You were astonished when he said that he returned the feelings too. Honestly you were on cloud nine and so was he. Kunigami said that he had a crush on you since the start of the semester but never had the courage to tell you about it. Leading to his friend, Chigiri, forcing him to talk to you today in the bus, which worked.

Maybe winter wasn't that bad, now that you had a new fire keeping you warm during the coldest days...

☆Isagi Yoichi- The childhood best friend.

Isagi was your childhood best friend. You moved in next to him at the age of 7 and since then you both were practically inseparable. Your families invited each other frequently for dinner; so you always, without fail met each other on fridays. You both went to the same highschool but sadly were in different classes. However, that didn't stop Isagi from meeting you. He used to visit you during lunch breaks and you both always had lunch together.

It was a pretty normal day. The teacher was writing on the board while the students were copying it in their notebooks. You were bored out of your mind and just wanted the period to end. Glancing out the window, you never knew when you drifted off to a small slumber. You were harshly awoken when you heard your classmate yell, "For God's sake y/n wake up!! Your boyfriend's here!" Jolting up from the loud voice, you glared at her from across the room and soon you saw Isagi sheepishly waving at you. You sighed and rubbed your eyes, walking over to the door where Isagi and your classmate stood. "Thank you informing the me and everyone around us. Now if you will excuse, me and my 'boyfriend' are going to take our leave" you sarcastically said. You had already told your classmates that Isagi was your childhood best friend; nothing more, nothing less. That was a lie tho. You clearly had some feeling for Isagi but you refused to acknowledge them. Scoffing, you walked away, practically dragging the poor male away with you.

You were furious, or so he thought. Isagi was behind you so he certainly didn't see the blush spread across your ravishing face. You stopped mid tracks when you heard the black haired boy speak up behind you, "Where are we exactly going y/n?" Taking a look around you, you grasped in your surroundings. You were so lost in your thoughts, never realizing that you had almost walked out of your school gate. Now your face was even redder due to this current embarrassment.

The wind was blowing along with the small cherry blossom petals from the tree near the gate. A beautiful sight indeed, with your hair swaying gently due to the wind. You glanced at Isagi. He looked enchanting as ever and soon enough you found yourself getting lost in his ocean blue eyes. At that point, you didn't care about anything. You just wanted to pull him close and k-

"Uhh y/n is there anything wrong?," he asked you innocently, cutting off your thoughts.

"Actually, yes if you think about it now."

"Go on."

"It's such a shame that a literall perfect guy like you still hasn't had his first kiss yet," you say sounding disappointed.

"Well would you like to do the honour and be the first?" Isagi blurted out slyly and gave you a devilish grin.

"..."

"I'm just joking! I didn't mean to catch you off guard" Now it was Isagi's turn to turn red.

He slowly started backing up but you weren't letting him go off the hook anytime soon. So taking a step forward you stood right in front of him. Grabbing his hand and pulling him close, you finally kissed him. It did not take a long time until Isagi's mind finally registered about the current situation and kissed back, rather hungrily. The kiss was broken when you both gasped for air.

"There's this thing that I have been planning to tell you all these years and I guess today is the day. We were close ever since the past and I'm hoping that I could spend my future with you. Isagi Yoichi, I have fallen for you, quite hard this time. I love you! I can absolutely understand if you don't want to answer right now, I'll wait" The black haired boy simply answered you back by giving you a peck on the lips, " I love you too y/n. I'm sorry I couldn't tell you this earlier, let's just say that I was scared of getting rejected by my one and only childhood best friend" You both looked at each other, clearly in love. Any onlookers will think that this is a scene taken right from a romance movie, you and Isagi standing in the middle, with the wind blowing and the cherry blossoms surrounding you both.

And few more words of affection were exchanged until the bell rang; indicating the end of the lunch break. They both looked happy as they made the way to their classrooms hand in hand.

currently reading blue lock for the first time ! Im afraid im deep in the hole now! Im trying to be up to date until the new season arrived! I just reach chapter 140 last night ! Think im doing ok! okay so first of all, to all of my followers (if even have any wheezes) i am soooo sorry for not being active. just things have been going south and further south for me. buuuuuut i've also been like hyperfixated on newer animes and on one manhwa (sadly it's killing stalking).

ANYWAYS.... MY CURRENT OBSESSION RN IS FUCKING DEMON SLAYER. i started watching it back in like march or february and i've been simping and focused on this anime ever since. i fucking love it omfg. my favorite characters changes a lot depending on my mood, but i am big on TENGEN (mr. flashy), RENGOKU (donut), AKAZA (donut maker), DOUMA (he puts the G in lGbt), HAGANEZUKA, and lastly... i know yall saw that new episode of season 3 w/ hantengus's fucking clones. tbh i didnt even know he could do that BUT ALL FOUR (i know there's five of them but rn it's four) OF THEM CAN GET IT. IM SORRY.

LIKE DID YALL NOT SEE THE MELANIN IN THOSE MEN?!?! THE MELANIN, THE HAIR, THE ABS, OMG. it makes me soooo excited to see darker skinned ppl in anime shows bc you know they dont hardly get drawn. and even if they are depicted as villains/demons/antagonists representation is representation. I saw spoilers for chapter 89; don’t know how legit they are, but here they are: https://mobile.twitter.com/apairof2/with_replies. From what I get, Igaguri’s now a d*** -but what can you expect from the guy who went after Bachira while he was sleeping?- while the other guy is all Rin-like, with the “football is my life and not just a sport to me and that’s why you’ll never be able to beat me” thing. And he’s strong too, so Kunigami feels like he’s bit off more than he can chew.

aaaahh i saw that too, and since it’s from one of the groups that scans and translates blue lock, i guess it was pretty legit

chapter 89 spoilers undercut

yeah i’m also not surprised that igarashi had apparently resorted to foul play to make up for the skill that is probably levels below our current top players in blue lock. like i get that he’s desperate to stay in blue lock to avoid going back home and becoming a monk (or something along those lines? it’s been a while since we’ve seen him and frankly i was surprised to see him) but he can only go so far with that. 

i wonder if he plans on doing that for the entire game since, well, it’s definitely a pretty despicable way of playing football and definitely will lead to empty wins (if any). 

the new guy did seem like he put his entire life into football cause otherwise i dont really know why he seems so fucking confident and violent when he could get kicked out if he continues to get defeated like that. so far, it seems like he got rin and barou’s bad traits with ten times more aggression and violence.

tho they did say that kuni didn’t want to play against igarashi and shidou and that it was reo who had insisted that they play against them. and neither of them had played against anyone like rin yet. which means they haven’t truly experienced playing against someone who seems like they can singlehandedly put them in a rough place no matter their team. though they did play against barou, but they also had a whole team of several other players to rely on. this time it’s just kuni and reo

hmmMMMM man shidou didn’t catch my eye or anything, but i am curious as to what will happen with that game. because if kuni/reo won against them, would they really choose shidou? but igarashi as he is now isn’t someone useful to them

and considering the only other trio we know of right now is nagi/barou/chigiri trio, they must choose someone who would be able to play on the same level as them (so shidou? to face off against barou?) but would they be able to work with shidou, or would igarashi get some sort of level up?

(and i dont even want to get into whatever match nagi/barou/chigiri would get into because if they do end up facing kuni/reo/??? then who are they going to choose from that trio? questions for when that moment comes i guess)
