actually one more thought. the idea of plurality is a little strange in how some people classify it based off on memory lots of "battle for the body" stuff. i don't feel like i have a dissociative disorder just a fractured identity - like i don't identify with many parts of myself and it kinda made me mosaic. i can't say it's me bc it isn't i don't feel like that i don't get those symptoms i don't understand that process or have those same relationships as other versions of me and i don't control which parts of me come out. dissociation maybe but my memory issues never last it just comes in cycles/chunks. idk seems strange that it's so classified when to me, there's many different forms of plurality
#like people who kin or people with strong disorders like me who can act completely different based on the present symptoms#but its hard for me to classify the different masks/personalities/emotions/symptoms without thinking of it as J2 or J16 etc#i dont actually name them outside of other certain peoples convenience#but i do have different genders and sexualities and feelings and symptoms and ages so its just easier if i organize it#does that make sense#ciggy

From what I've seen and searched, xenogenders choose their gender based on vibes and stuff they like, I saw some with a huge list of their gender, including, springgender, pupgender, lemonpiegender.
Well, for me, certain concepts, abstractions & themes are important to my identity & gender, as well as important to me as a person, but not everything that's important to me as a person or my general identity is related to my gender. I conceptualize my gender to be in relation/tandem with those things, I assume it's similar for others as well. Beyond that I also have a "normal" core gender identity, though, but even that is confusing to most people, as others perception of gender is more simplistic and trinary, so I simplify it even further.
Also, I searched and I've never seen or heard about an old person using these. Have you seen a 70 year old queer identity as a lemon pie? A 45 mother identify as a male puppy?
Well, they wouldnt "identify as a male puppy". If you phrase it in another way though... "How would you describe your gender with only things that are abstract?" then you might actually get answers.
I don't understand why you feel the need to include that in the LGBTQ community if you just like clouds
It's not "just liking so-and-so"; you can like something without it being conceptually a part of your gender, as I do with many of my interests that are dear to my heart but dont have anything to do with my gender, but, it's considered LGBT because this identification is considered to be a specific form of non-binary â not a boy, not a girl. Most people who identify as xenogender are additionally and/or at their core, trans and/or non-binary. Though I've seen people be cisgender & xenogender, but even those people tend to be lesbian, gay, bisexual, etc.
Anyway, on pronouns, why call it pronouns if they're nicknames between friends? Because they want to feel special and have a community.
Pronouns (refering to "he, she, they, it" and words of a similar function) are words to address someone without using their name, and replaces their name, for ease of convenience and to make sentences go smoother. Always using names sounds a little... clunky.
Instead of saying "he, him, his, himself", you'd say "xe, xer, xem, xemself"; you wouldnt use the same grammatical conjunctions with a nickname or name.
I say it's used between friends or those who can adapt, because there's no other option, it's not because "people want to feel special", it's not like you can force someone to use your pronouns. It's a niche community as it is, so there's a smaller amount of people able to/understanding enough/open to using them in the first place, so you'd have fewer people (as compared to the wider population) to address you with neopronouns.
It's only within those already niche circles, because anyone outside of it would likely be unable to adapt, ignore, misunderstand, belittle, mock or assault you for it. There is not really another choice.
In daily life, I usually refer to myself with my neopronouns in my head... I dont feel special because of it, it's just a different kind of identification. I havent done so recently, but if I participate in the community, I do so because I like to be surrounded by like-minded people â people who will not viciously mock me for my identifications, who are more likely to refer to me with neopronouns (as I dont tend to do it publically), etc. I also like to share things about myself (to some degree... I favor anonymity & privacy), my creations, etc. It also ties into my interests... I have an interest in poetry & writing (describing genders is very similar), I enjoy artwork, symbolism, and working with colors (designing flags), and I find etymology and neologism (creating new words) fun.
About cis people I'm not concerned about their validation fr I do not care and they probably think my gender is fake too (I'm nonbinary and uses they them) but I do care about the safety of my fellow trans people, they are being murdered and discriminated against, obviously xenogenders aren't the reason but they do contribute to the stigma of trans people who existed since the dawn of time.
Yeah, it must seem silly and a foreign concept to the average person who's not used to approaching/thinking about gender in abstract/tangible/atypical terms (or, in your case, if you completely lack gender LOL), but respectability politics will not decrease violence against trans people. If you're unfamiliar, respectibility politics refers to people consciously setting aside things that are deemed as disrespectful for the sake of being paleatable to more people â so "a small portion of trans people should not express themselves to avoid contributing to propaganda, (which is already warped as it is)" is a form of respectibility politics. They will use anything deemed unusual as transphobic propaganda. They will take their assumptions and run with it.
I've seen and experienced xenogender people calling trans people (myself included) transphobic, ableist and got send death threats because of our concerns and opinions.
Reactionary people are an... issue, yes. This isnt exclusive to the MOGAI community though, you see this stuff in every communify.
It's not inherently ableist, persay. NT people can be xenic. More prominent and common to be ND (seemingly), but not exclusive. It's a common misconception for people think its ND-exclusive, though.
Trans people can still be transphobic, though.
But still they should use nicknames like everyone, my username is cake since I love it but it isn't what I am.
People do use several names, me & many others. Pronouns are conjuncted differently than names.
If there's something different about someone, they shouldnt be expected to conform, especially like, online, in the privacy of their own home. People should not face violence for not conforming because it's "socially unacceptable", especially for expressing such online, where you can express yourself with less restraint.
People can use whatever pronouns they like. Sometimes words dont "fit" or "click" as names but work with pronouns, or vice versa. Most people who use neopronouns give auxillary (alternative) pronouns to use in daily life and/or for people who cannot adapt (i.e. language-processing issues, english as a second language, etc)
Also... Yeah, you have different facets of identity. Some may or may not correlate with gender identity, and it just doesnt in your case.
Having a strange/atypical identity does not contribute to stigmatization. Misunderstandings or a lack of understanding, assumptions and transphobic propaganda contributes to stigmatization.
thank you so much for you answer đ I'm gonna me quick. but they are not part of the lgbt community if they only uses differents pronouns. xenogenders are not genders in my opinion, since their xenogender is abstract stuff or based on feelings they should not speak up as trans people if they are not , if a cis straight male identify in his mind as something poetic or some kind he is a cis straight male and should not speak as a trans person and try to integrate lgbtq spaces and make 9000 flags . it is personal, you can write about it and it can be beautiful in my opinion but trying to pass this as a sexuality or gender is a big no. it should be an aspect that shouldn't be categorised and again I'm repeating not be a part of the lgbt community, it can be influenced or be a part of many queer People but shouldn't step up in these spaces

Better Unsaid
a/n okay this has been all over the place!! it was originally going to be a blurb and darker and closer to smutty (so keep your eyes out for that??? lol), but then I made it softer and the concept got away from me and it got soooo much longer than expected lmao and i still dont love where it ended so maybe part 2?? i have the idea i just dont know lolÂ
summary: Reader is a princess and Anakin has been her guard during the most public season for the past two years (not the most logical thing but just go with it lol, it gets explained better in the fic) and after a near death experience the two are conveniently forced into a....
ONE BED TROPE ONE BED TROPE *cough cough* ONE BED TROPE WITH ONE PERSON HAVING TO WAKE UP THE OTHER BC THEYRE HAVING A NIGHTMARE,, :)))))))
 --
His smugness is the only thing about him I can consider âuglyâ. And because I am so desperate to not have feeling for Anakin, the Jedi who has been assigned to protect me through coronation season (which lasts for most of winter), for the last two coronation seasons, I hold onto my distaste for that side of him. Which is why I suppress my laugh as he waits for my reaction with that confident smile.Â
âCome on, that was funny.âÂ
Rolling my eyes, I let myself sit on my bed. I canât tell if heâs actually funny or if my evening has been so boring that his sense of humor has started to become appealing to me due to comparison. In short, the suitor I was forced to spend an entire evening with lacked personality so much Iâm starting to find Anakin funny.
âYouâre much more entertaining than this eveningâs suitor.âÂ
Anakinâs expression shifts slightly, his assured grin dropping slightly. âAnother miss?âÂ
âYou have no idea.â I relax slightly, taking a moment to be glad that I completed my fatherâs request and now I can just enjoy the time I have with Anakin. âI know my fatherâs desperate to make sure my marriage is useful for our people and that he worries about this selection process because he always thought my mother would be here to help, but sometimes I wish he wouldnât rush it so much. It feels like all he wants me for is to marry me off in exchange of finance or weaponry or something diplomatic.âÂ
âYouâre more than that.â His response is so soft I think I might have missed it if I needed it less. I curse myself for feeling so validated by him. His words shouldnât mean anything to me. After all, he could easily just be saying that because agreeing with my father will just make me more unpleasant to be around.Â
I smile politely while avoiding his eyes. I keep my hands on either side of me, fighting the urge to fidget. âThank you, Anakin.â My words sound weak in my own ears, so Iâm sure he notices my shift in mood. âIâm tired today, I think Iâm going to go to bed early.â Normally, Iâd be able to shrug off these kinds of things, but the beginning of Coronation Season makes me irritable. The anniversary of my motherâs death hits me harder each year.Â
âY/n.â My name comes out so velvety I canât find it in myself to interrupt him. âYou are more than someone meant to be used as some kind of royal currency, and I mean that as more than just a...friend.âÂ
I let his last word linger. Weâve tried so many titles that never seem to fit right. Heâs the chosen one, one of the most powerful Jedi to exist, and the Jedi assigned to protect me each Coronation Season because thatâs when my mother was assassinated. Heâs my guard, but weâve spent too many nights laughing together and talking about everything and anything. And I guess now heâs my friend, even though sometimes when he looks at me in a certain way or sits too close to me or reaches for my hand to guide me somewhere I canât breathe right.Â
âAnakin, you know I love when youâre here, even though sometimes you drive me insane. And I appreciate your kindness, but your words canât change the truth. Thatâs how my father sees me and heâs not exactly wrong. Iâm not a son, I havenât been raised to lead an army or lead much, and--âÂ
âIâve seen you in meeting after meeting, convention after convention. Iâve witnessed the way you handle real problems and I know how you care about your people. Youâd make a great leader, you donât need a husband to be valuable.âÂ
My chest swells, feelings I never let myself think about mixing with thoughts of Anakin that Iâve spent so long trying to avoid. âThat settles it, youâre my favorite person.âÂ
He grins, the look warm enough to melt the odd lump in my throat. I fight down a smile as he steps forward. âAnd I wasnât before?âÂ
âI take it back--your headâs big enough without the additional praise.âÂ
Rolling my eyes, I lean back slightly in order to recreate the distance he so easily destroyed. âAnd I thought you had finally warmed up to me, princess.âÂ
The use of my title makes me skeptical. The last time Anakin used it was when he was trying to ease me so that Iâd walk around the palace garden so he had an excuse to do the same. It was beyond late and I was half asleep, but he had os much energy he was desperate and just needed to do one more thing. I felt bad that his schedule revolved so heavily around mine (and when he softens his eyes and says please, Iâm left incapable of saying the word ânoâ) so I agreed.Â
âWhat do you want?âÂ
Anakin dramatically clutches a hand over his heart. He throws his head back slightly as if heâs just taken a fatal blow. âWhen did you turn so cynical? Iâve been back for three days and Iâm starting to believe youâre a different person now.âÂ
Yeah...heâs definitely getting ready to ask for something thatâs more trouble than itâs worth. Then again, everything with him seems to be worth it in some capacity. Even if itâs just that one smile he gets when heâs truly content and doesnât think anyoneâs looking.Â
âMhm,â I mumble, still fighting a grin, âso youâre not going to ask me anything?âÂ
His lips part slightly as he exhales. I watch the way his eyes narrow at my victorious expression. âI donât have anything to ask of you, but I do have a small request. A request so small you wonât have to do anything but say yes.â
Suspicious. Too easy. âYouâre unbelievable.âÂ
âYou just said I was your favorite person. Remember that.âÂ
Iâm too tired for his coyness. Iâd rather him make his ridiculous request now so that I can be in bed within the hour. Though I canât pretend I donât normally feel better after letting him drag me along on whatever âadventureâ he just needed to complete while also not letting me out of his sight. I used to tell him that I wouldnât tell anyone if I wasnât under supervision for an hour or two a day, but he dismissed the idea immediately. Thatâs been the cornerstone of everything.Â
âWhat is it?âÂ
He sighs once, tilting his head slightly. The way his eyes soften tells me heâs already won at least half the battle. âThey still havenât caught the attempted--â Anakin pauses, something behind his eyes darkening. I know what heâs remembering. Last night, an assassin had gotten closer than they ever had. I had almost been shot in the garden, Anakin had barely pushed me to the ground in time. A fact heâs been beating himself up for since, especially considering that no one has been able to find my attempted killer yet. âThey were so close to you. They were within palace limits and they disappeared like they never existed. Whoâs to say they donât work here and are waiting for the next moment youâre exposed? Whoâs to say they arenât here tonight, waiting for me to retire for the night?âÂ
I didnât realize how my near death experience had been so personal to him. He, like everyone else, was beyond frantic after it happened. But my father put an end to verbal worry before it could truly begin. He said the best thing we could do was act like everything was fine as the assailant was searched for. Anakin hadnât been particularly cheery after my father instructed the guards to focus their search on known enemies instead of prioritizing venting the staff closest to me. I comforted him as best as I could, but he didnât feel like speaking about it and I had to worry about the suitor meeting my father wouldnât let me cancel.Â
âAnakin, youâre right next door to me.â I have to fight the urge to reach for him. âI was fine because of you, and I will be fine because of you.âÂ
He sighs once, his expression not easing. âAnd if the person is silent? The attacker could easily work in the palace, but no one wanted to direct the search inwards.â His words are more strained than Iâve ever heard them be. âI think itâd be smart for me to stay in here. I know youâve refused having a guard stay in your room or outside your door, but...â Anakin sighs. âYour safety would be more assured.âÂ
Him staying in my room? The only line Iâve ever been allowed to draw, and Iâm actually considering letting that go. If he seemed even slightly less sad, I wouldnât even consider it. Itâs not a good idea. Iâm already too attached to him. âAnakin--âÂ
âIâd feel more assured.âÂ
Damn him. Stupid, extremely sweet Anakin who makes saying no to him impossible. I stretch my arm forward, letting my hand squeezes his forearm gently. âThereâs no reason to not feel assured.â He doesnât ease, the cloudiness behind his eyes remains stubborn. âYouâre still worried.â No reaction, the haze thatâs taken him isnât letting go. âFine--but tell no one or my father is going to take to posting guards at my door every night.âÂ
...I guess there are worse ways to spend a night. Which is kind of a problem since Iâm trying to...enjoy Anakin less. Ugh, I even sound dumb in my head. âI promise, princess.âÂ
Ugh, heâs adorable. âYouâre intolerable.â I stand from he foot of my bed and pull back the covers on my bed. He doesnât reply, something dark still playing for him. I watch him move to face the door. Wait--is he doing what I think heâs doing? âNo, youâre not going to stand there all night. You need sleep.â He has the audacity to give me an annoyed look. âI already didnât want to do this so now you have to listen to my conditions.âÂ
He raises an eyebrow, his lips pressing together oddly. Heâs trying to gauge something from my expression, perhaps heâs looking for buttons to press to get his way. I guess I look as stubborn as I feel because instead of arguing he just sits on the floor. What? I watch him cautiously, trying to figure out if this is some weird argument trick.Â
âWhat are you doing?âÂ
âWhat you asked.â
And just like that Iâve put myself in a position that I will no doubt regret terribly the second common sense returns to me. Thereâs no way to deny that Anakin and I are closer than we probably should be. Weâve felt like friends first since the day we first met. I canât think of any reason to not offer to let him sleep in my bed except those stupid budding feelings I refuse to label.Â
Itâs not like I actually like him. I canât--Iâm going to be married to some nobleman and heâs prohibited from ever forming attachments. Iâm not even sure if weâre allowed to be friends. Having actual feelings for him would be so, so pointless. It would just lead to heartache and the ruining of the one genuine relationship I have. Iâm just a tiny bit confused right now because heâs objectively really attractive and heâs always there for me. Always there to make a joke after a particularly rough meeting. Always there to offer me a supportive smile. Always there to humble me when I teeter on acting like my father.Â
Anyoneâs heart would flutter at that, so it doesnât mean anything. And if it does, I need to squash any budding feelings now before I mess things up. Which is why I should keep him at armâs length until I get it together. But is that fair to him? And what if doing that is making things worse? What if itâs just reinforcing the idea of having feelings?Â
This is ridiculous. Iâm going to get over this if it kills me. Itâs just a bed and itâs only sleeping. Iâm meant to be able to lead an entire union and I canât sleep next to someone and act normal?â âYou donât have to sleep on the floor.âÂ
The second the words leave my mouth I regret it all. Whatâs wrong with me? Did I seriously think Iâd be okay?
I hear his soft exhale, âIâll be fine. Iâve slept in worse places than on your marble floor.âÂ
His voice sounds so weighted I canât help but feel bad for not noticing that heâs still bothered. Whether heâs upset about his near miss or the fact that my father didnât take his advice, I donât know. But somethingâs wrong. The easy thing to do would be to just let him sleep it off. The smart thing to do would be to leave him alone until tomorrow.Â
I think of all the times that Iâve been upset and Anakin had refused to let me go to sleep angry or sad or overwhelmed. âI know, but itâs really not a big deal. Itâs not like we donât know each other. I mean, last Coronation Season you buttoned me into more gowns than my handmaid. And I owe you for saving me from one of the worst suitors Iâve ever had.âÂ
âIâm starting to think we need to develop some kind of signal.âÂ
The tiny bit of lightness thatâs returned to his voice makes all of my internal struggle feel worth it. âYou always seem to know.âÂ
âThatâs because when youâre reaching your limit, that one line appears between your eyebrows.â
I didnât realize I had such a tell. I try to remember the way that the suitor drawled on and on about how amazing he was and how he couldnât wait for the day he had a bride to bear his children and plan (tedious) social events. My hand moves to my forehead, trying to feel the crease Anakin mentioned. Can everyone tell when Iâm growing tired? Am I that transparent?Â
Anakinâs slight laugh steals my attention. Heâs facing me again, his elbow holding his head up on the foot of my bed. âWhat are you doing?âÂ
âI donât--I donât think i get a crease between my eyebrows when Iâm irritated.âÂ
I hear him stand. I donât realize heâs approaching me until heâs so close I could touch him without even needing. to stretch. âNo, when youâre irritated you raise your eyebrows slightly, because thatâs when youâre at your most sarcastic.âÂ
âReally?âÂ
The corner of his mouth tugs upwards. âJust like that.â I force myself to keep my expression blank. âWhen youâre reaching your limit, your eyebrows crease here.â His finger taps the space between my brows so gently I almost donât realize what heâs doing. âAnd when youâre trying not to laugh--which is often, because you refuse to admit that Iâm funny--you press your lips together in a way that forms a dimple here.â The knuckle of his pointer finger brushes against the bottom of my cheek.Â
I bite my tongue to fight the warmth spreading across my face. âI didnât realize i was so transparent.â
âI canât always tell what youâre thinking.âÂ
âIâll take it.â Maybe if I was less tired, Iâd argue a little more. âYou know youâre not that difficult to read either.âÂ
âReally?âÂ
âYes, I can tell when youâre just being stubborn for the sake of it. I can see it in your eyes and youâre doing it right now.âÂ
His expression harshens slightly before softening. âY/n--âÂ
âIâm not wrong.âÂ
He sighs once, stepping back. I watch him pace around my bed before taking a seat on the edge of my other side of the bed. âAre you happy now?âÂ
âHappy that I won? Absolutely.âÂ
Anakin halfheartedly glares at me. âCareful, add a crown and a robe that trails down a throne and Iâd feel like I was speaking to your father.âÂ
âCareful, another side comment like that and Iâll âaccidentallyâ kick you off the bed in the middle of the night.âÂ
âNot if I kick you off the bed first.âÂ
I trace a thoughtless pattern on the fabric of my bedsheets. âWhat are you? Twelve?âÂ
âIâm older than you.âÂ
âBarely.â I continue the thoughtless pattern tracing as I fight the sleep from my eyes. âYour comebacks are usually more creative than that.âÂ
He exhales, relaxing slightly as he rests his back against a pillow. âIâm tired, like you claimed to be.â His eyes flutter slightly, a bit of his exhaustion showing. âGo to sleep.âÂ
I should. Iâm too old to think I can put off a tomorrow I donât want by just staying up. This is stupid. Iâm too old to think I can put off the anniversary of my motherâs death by going to bed. She had been taken from us on castle grounds, killed by a revolutionist who viewed my mother as a class traitor. I still remember the way she slumped to the ground, her blood staining the snow beneath her. I remember the way the guards were so busy chasing her killer no one thought to keep me away from the body.Â
âY/n?âÂ
I scratch the back of my arm in hopes of banishing my thoughts. âYes?âÂ
âYouâre being quiet.âÂ
âYou said to go to sleep, that tends to be a quiet thing.âÂ
I can feel his eyes on me. âSince when do you listen to me?â Not trusting myself to actually reply, I only offer him a hum of acknowledgement. âI know youâre not half asleep.âÂ
Folding my hands on my lap, I avoid his gaze. âItâs tomorrow.âÂ
I donât know why I trust him to understand my vague response, but I do. His silence stretches over us like a thin blanket on a cold night. Maybe he doesnât understand what Iâm implying. I can always correct him tomorrow, when my eyelids are no longer as heavy as my heart. The more seconds that pass in total silence, the more I think that maybe heâs fallen asleep.Â
I wouldnât be surprised, Anakin has seemed tired recently, like some additional weight he wonât share with anyone has been thrust onto his shoulders. A small part of me rolls in guilt. I need to be a better friend, just because Iâm suddenly a little too aware of him doesnât mean I can shrug him off and ignore him.Â
My hand almost flinches away from the feeling of something surprisingly warm touching my pinky. When I realize that itâs just Anakin and that the contact was probably accidental, I force myself to ease. Itâs not like weâve never touched before, I donât understand why Iâm making it weird. Sitting in my bed in the dark doesnât change anything. His hand turns slightly, pressing into mine a little more assuredly. Biting my tongue, I turn my hand slightly, exposing my palm. And just like that, our fingers intertwine.Â
âShe would have been proud of you.â His voice comes out so low I barely register the words.Â
The words shouldnât mean much to me--he never knew my mother and has no way to know what she wanted me to be.--and yet I find comfort in them. I smile, turning my head towards him. âYou didnât even know her.âÂ
He rolls his eyes slightly, relaxing further before squeezing my hand once. âWho wouldnât be proud of you? Youâre kind and smart and decent to be around when youâre not telling me what to do.âÂ
My heart swells in my chest so much Iâm surprised it doesnât burst. Could he be cuter? âYeah...now Iâm sure youâre my favorite person.âÂ
âNow youâre sure?âÂ
The smugness in his voice has me rolling my eyes. âDonât make me regret saying that.âÂ
âMaybe in the morning,â he says easily, ânow go to sleep. Thereâs nothing worse than escorting you from meeting to meeting while youâre tired.âÂ
âIâm not that bad.â Even in this darkness, I can make out the way he raises an eyebrow. âShut up--Iâm going to sleep, but not because of you.âÂ
He lets out a slight huff. âYouâre impossible.âÂ
The desire to respond to his comment is not enough for me to win the fight against the weight of my eyelids. The moment my eyes shut, I feel powerless to anything that isnât sleep. I let myself fall into a weightless sleep, my only tether being the Anakinâs fingers around mine.Â
--
A distant noise yanks me from my sleep. Iâm too drowsy to do anything but register the sound. I hear another similar...whine? cry? I canât tell and Iâm too asleep to figure it out. I almost fall asleep again, but a third distressed sound keeps me from it. I wipe my eyes lazily with the back of my hand as I try to sit up.Â
Squinting, I make out a figure on my bed. It takes me a moment to remember Anakin and how I fell asleep. Our hands are still together and no light is peering through my window so it canât be that long since I fell asleep. Another disgruntled sound carries itself throughout the room. I shift slightly, leaning over Anakin cautiously.Â
Golden brown curls are beginning to stick to his forehead and his eyebrows are drawn together sharply. Heâs having a nightmare. I shift even further forward before cautiously placing a hand on his shoulder before squeezing him gently.Â
âAnakin,â I whisper, âitâs not--itâs not real.â His eyebrows draw together even more harshly. I shake him a little more stubbornly. âAnakin, wake up--youâre having a ni--â
My forearm is grabbed so suddenly I barely register it before I feel my back shoved into my mattress. I blink twice. His dark eyes are frantic and the look on his face is far from the gentle, easygoing expression Iâm used to. Heâs breathing deeply, his chest rising and falling from above me. I swallow a slight panic and something I donât understand as I try to keep my eyes on his face and my thoughts away from how close he is. Anakin pries his fingers from my forearm one by one until only his palm is touching me.Â
âY/n, I--âÂ
âItâs okay.â Honestly, Iâm more worried about his uneven breathing than the way he grabbed me. I canât imagine everything heâs been through or how justified his nightmares are. Anakin moves his hand away from me. I donât sit up until heâs off of me and sitting with his back against my headboard. âItâs okay--I just--you were having a nightmare and I thought I should wake you.â He doesnât react. I turn my body further, keeping my back straight. Anakin doesnât move, and the longer he stays still, the more I feel like I should say something else. âDo you want talk about it? Or do--do you want to talk about something else? Or go to sleep? Or get some water? Or--â The far off look behind his eyes silences me. I scoot forward slightly. âYouâre okay, Anakin, I promise.âÂ
His head turns at that, his eyes searching mine for something I donât understand. âI thought...â He cuts himself off by swallowing once.Â
I shift a little more, trying to find anything normal in his expression. âThought what?âÂ
Anakinâs hand is on my arm so quickly I donât even register his movement. I let his fingers press into my skin. Heâs holding onto me like Iâm a figment of a dream and heâs beginning to wake up. âI thought Iâd failed.â He exhales, the sound heavy. âFailed you and that youâd--I thought I had lost you.âÂ
A lump rises in my throat, thick and unmoving. Cautiously, I place my hand over the one still gripping my shoulder like a lifeline. âYou didnât. Nothing happened, it was just a dream.âÂ
His gaze falls to the ground before he repeats the last of my words. âJust a dream.â Thereâs a hollowness to his voice I donât understand.Â
I exhale, carefully running my thumb over his knuckles. âYes.â He doesnât say anything but his expression hardens again. I let us sit there like that for a long minute. âI promise.âÂ
âYou canât promise things like that.â
I sigh, unsure of where to go from here. âBad dreams are only bad dreams.â He doesnât reply. âI think you should try to get some more sleep.âÂ
Anakin is unresponsive. I shift back, but before I can transition from almost being on top of him to just sitting next to him, he pulls on my arm to keep in place. âI donât know what Iâd do if something happened to you.âÂ
âNothingâs going to happen to me.âÂ
âYou almost died today, y/n. I was right there and if I had been a second later--âÂ
âBut you werenât.â He doesnât ease. âYou were there and I was fine. Donât torment yourself over what could have been. Youâll drive yourself crazy.âÂ
âIf anything ever happened to y--âÂ
âItâs not going to,â I whisper, ignoring the way his hold on my arm tightens even further, âEspecially this time a year when I have a pretty good gau--âÂ
He tilts his head slightly, eyebrows drawing together and a ghost of a smile on his lips. âPretty good? Really?âÂ
âSomeone needs to watch your ego, chosen one.â This time when he tries for a smile, the look has some strength behind it. Relief pools in my stomach. âNow get some sleep, tomorrowâs a busy day and when youâre sleepy youâre beyond irritable.â Â
Anakin lets me pull away enough to lay down, but he doesnât follow. Not for a long second. When he does, his movements are impossibly rigid. I watch him out of the corner of my eye as carefully as I can manage.Â
âY/n?âÂ
I regret turning my head immediately. I didnât realize how close he was. It would take no effort from me to make our lips meet. Wait--why am I thinking of that? Iâm not allowed to think of stuff like that...especially not about him.Â
âYes?â
He lets out a breath before moving his hand. I donât understand his hesitation until I feel his hand cupping my cheek gently. âWhat if next time Iâm not enough? What if next time I lose you because Iâm not strong enough?âÂ
I never thought my death would be such a personal thing to him. Sure, I knew that we had some kind of bond, some kind of friendship, and that my death would bring sadness. But I never imagined Iâd matter enough to him that thoughts of my death would be frightening enough to slip into his subconscious and become a thing of nightmares.Â
âYou are enough. Nothing is going to happen to me and if it does itâs not going to be because of you.â Anakinâs lips press together in a way that implies serious uncertainty. His thumb brushes across my cheek so unexpectedly I almost ask him what heâs doing. The intensity behind his eyes is enough to burn me. âWas your dream really that bad?âÂ
He lets out an uncertain breath as his eyebrows draw together. I donât miss the way his jaw clenches. âItâs more than the dream. I...y/n, princess,â he tacts on, a hint of humor returning to him, âyouâre more than a mission to me.âÂ
The admission is so soft I canât help but smile. âI know, Anakin, weâre--âÂ
âYouâre more than a friend to me.â I donât know if my blood freezes in my veins or if my lungs donât contract when they should or if my heart literally skips a beat, but I know something in me completely stops at his words. âI--âÂ
âDonât say it.â I donât know how I managed to cut him off so sharply and Iâm a little disappointed when I do, but itâs the right thing to do. Thought of the code thatâs so important to him have clouded half the immense shock and joy swelling in my chest. âWhat youâre trying to say...I um, I want to say the same.â I try to drop my gaze but he tilts my head up slightly with his hand. âBut we shouldnât, you know that.âÂ
"You want to us to pretend that nothingâs different? You want me to escort you from meetings with one suitor to the next every Coronation Season until youâre married off?âÂ
âNo, Iâm not saying that. The point is that Iâm not saying anything.â His eyebrows draw together in uncertainty. âIsnât it enough for now, for both of us to just know? If we say it...that could mean bad things for you. And I donât want to be a bad thing for you.âÂ
âYou could never be.â
Itâd be so easy to believe him. To believe him and to let him say what I never imagined Iâd be able to hear and damn the consequences of tomorrow. âCan we just refrain from verbally saying anything until youâre sure?âÂ
âIâm sure right now. Iâve been sure since the first time we ever walked in the garden together. The night after the first Coronation Ball I escorted you to.âÂ
I remember that night well. The way he hadnât scolded me for needing air or taking off my uncomfortably high heels to walk in the grass. âIf you mean it, you wonât say it yet. I refuse to get in the way of what youâre meant for.â
His thumb runs my cheek entirely, stopping at the corner of my mouth. âAre you capable of not disagreeing with me?âÂ
Rolling my eyes slightly, I place my hand over his. âProbably not.âÂ
Anakin exhales, his playful irritation clear in the sound. âYouâre impossible when youâre tired.âÂ
âI am not tired.âÂ
âI can see the sleep in your eyes.âÂ
âI can see it in yours too.âÂ
He pauses, eyebrows drawn together cautiously. âIâll go to sleep if you do.â
He must be more tired than I thought if heâs compromising with me so quickly. âDeal.âÂ
Neither of us close our eyes for a long second, we just watch each other with wide eyes. It still doesnât feel like heâs eased, but heâs come back to me so much more than he was earlier. Iâll make sure to check how heâs feeling in the morning. The first morning after weâve...I donât know.Â
Iâm trying really hard not to get excited because anything thatâs been not said could be taken back so easily. Thatâs the point--but itâs hard not to let my heart get ahead of my rationality. Iâll just take the good for what it is for now and tomorrow we can figure out the rest. Even though heâs not allowed to form attachments and my father really wants to marry me off to foreign royalty.
Tomorrow. This can begin to be solved tomorrow. My eyes shut and I let myself roll fully onto my back. The second Iâm comfortably settled, I feel Anakin shift against the bed. Iâm too tired to open my eyes until I feel a weight placed against my chest.Â
I open my eyes on instinct, less surprised than I should be when I see Anakinâs head resting against my chest. Before I can speak, I feel his arm rest against my side. âAnakin,â I breathe, my hand moving to smooth his hair out of his face the way Iâve wanted to for so long. âWhat did we just talk about?âÂ
âYou said not to say anything,â he mumbles comfortably, âIâm not saying anything.â ...It is kind of the ideal compromise. Especially since Iâm too tired to find reason and he feels so warm. âI can feel you overthinking. Go back to smoothing my hair before I have to rise and stand at your door so that your handmaid comes to wake you. Something tells me sheâd be glad for the excuse to get rid of me.âÂ
That might be the most dramatic thing Iâve ever heard him say. Selma is the most patient woman in the palace. âSelma would never report anything involving me, I canât believe you donât like her. Sheâs the sweetest woman Iâve ever met.â Â
âSheâs the one that doesnât like me,â he says, âshe always watches me like sheâs trying to figure out if Iâm planning on stealing you away.âÂ
Too tired to fight my smile, I go back to smoothing his hair out with my fingers. After a moment, he lets out an exhale that relaxes his entire body. âGoodnight, princess.âÂ
âGoodnight.â The word is barely a mumble as I feel sleep tug against me for the second time tonight.Â
Itâs strange, but my excitement doesnât diminish my tiredness, it just makes the prospect of rest feel so much fuller. Safer. Because thereâs so much to sort out and grieve but itâs okay, because we have the time and everything feels okay because Anakin is here, right beneath my fingertips.Â

Hello!
So Iâm the anon who asked for more Archon War Venti headcanons and I just loved it! I really like reading your headcanons cuz some of them are similar to mine but mostly are headcanons that I didnât think of so it really is nice to read and see your thoughts about Venti!
I feel like as if Iâm asking too much but could you keep doing these types of headcanons? Like it doesnât have to be Archon War headcanons but like some headcanons about Ventiâs relationship with the Ragnvindrs and Gunnhildrs. Because the first Gunnhildr was the first one who prayed to Barbatos and the first Ragnvindr was his friend who left but came back and I really wanna hear your thoughts on that!
And Iâve decided to get off anon cuz you just replied to my texts and I wasnât expecting that so Iâve got a short confidence boost that I am completely taking advantage of! And thanks for the advice! or uhh comment? observation? Iâm not entirely sure but thank you for that! Iâve heard that be said to me a few times and I have been trying to be more, uhh, assertive so thanks for that!
rfouierjkhfkecs i actually came across information on Gunnhildr and the "Red-haired warrior" yesterday when i was doing more research into the rebellion against Decarabian and I was like "wow this would be really fucking fun to research and theorize on, but its too specific/niche to include unprompted no matter how much i want to" but bestie you prompted, and im literally so happy right now because I didn't think I'd ever really get the chance to post about them!
also lmao yeah, i tend to try and reply to as much as I can, since it's a good feeling when someone does and all. but yeah, no problem! Iâm glad you felt confident enough to reveal XD.Â
This may be structured a bit more like analysis/theory/just citing canon things at first before it gets into a more headcanony format.
ehe i have so much free reign on this it's lovely
More Archon War Era Venti: one two three
spoilers for Venti's backstory and Diluc's(kinda, i think, just in case)
first things first, laying down some canon background because before yesterday i hadn't heard of either of them outside of that one cutscene.
the very reason Decarabian had his storm wall up in the first place was because at the time Andrius had declared war on him- and his tower, and the city of Mondstadt by extent, were basically constantly under attack by Andrius's blizzards, which since he was still alive back then, were a lot bigger and covered basically what seems to be the whole of Mondstadt outside the barrier.
This meant that people had two options. Live in the city under Decarabian's oppression, or live outside the barrier, and brave the blizzards of a warring god... which was not a good idea
but the Gunnhildr clan(not yet called that) tried- and they almost died because of it. In the midst of a blizzard, the clan chief's daughter, named Gunnhildr(which the clan would be named after later) sent out a prayer that was heard by a wandering wind spirit. And the faith of that prayer gave the spirit enough power to create a small shelter to protect them.
When her father past, she became the new leader and also a priestess. She would later lead the clan to fight Decarabian alongside four others. And basically the Gunnhildr Clan ended up as like sworn protectors of Mondstadt
-
as for the red-haired warrior, who is basically assumed to be the earliest known ancestor of the Ragnvindir clan(im gonna refer to as Ragnvindir for convenience sake, even though "Ragnvindir" is technically a different character from Vanessa's era)theres not much information on him, but heres what i have from the various wiki's
- he was a wanderer
- one of the first to use the sign of windblume to find other rebels(so he's intelligent)
- actively propped up the nameless bard so he could watch as the tower was destroyed
there's this little tidbit too from the Windblume Ode bow's description that im probably gonna talk about a considerable amount too: "Atop the ruins of the ancient tower, amidst the cheers, songs, and tears of those who had newly won their freedom. A red-haired warrior turned his back on the newborn god, hidden like a single raindrop in a tidal wave of humanity. He was first among those who passed the secret sign of Windblume, the one who wove threads of dawn throughout the long night. His name has since been lost to time, but his deeds are still remembered in song." followed later by "The fate of this clan will likely never change: they shall ever live in the darkness and bring forth the flame of dawn."
-
Now I'm going to start with the Ragnvindir(geez, why's it spelled like that tho)
My idea of his character is basically formed by a mix of Ragnvindir stereotypes and just generally analyzing text.
So what do we know about Ragnvindir's for sure? they are shady motherfuckers- or at least they rarely operate in the spotlight. also damn, these guys are more cursed than anemo vision wielders- like the only one who didn't canonically lose someone close to them was Crepus, but considering that Diluc doesn't exactly have a mom..... he probably did
so what do we know? - he was close with the nameless bard - he was intelligent - he likely operated primarily from the shadows "ever living in the darkness" - he was a wanderer - he abandoned Venti during the celebration - but his deeds were still remembered in song, so Venti and him were likely still close
now the question of the century: how will i choose to interpret "turned his back on the newborn god"? And honestly, I'm- not sure- at first i assumed he abandoned him completely- but Venti did still make sure to carry on his memory- which could just be Venti being Venti, but for the sake of sanity, this is how I'm interpreting it.
A lot of things happened to the Ragnvindir that day. He lost a friend, saw another become a god to replace the one they had conquered, and he saw his goal, his reason for being in Mondstadt, come to fruition. "see the world through my eyes" the bard had said, and the Ragnvindir had been a wanderer even before. Sure, the people had won freedom, and that was to be celebrated, but he's intelligent to recognize that people would likely see him as one of the key figures in leading the rebellion. And for him this was a solemn time, and ending to a chapter, and not being one to operate in the spotlight, the last thing he'd want is to be swept up in festivities and attention at a time like this.
It also likely didn't help that he's probably smart enough to understand the idea of "power corrupts," and seeing the wind sprite just readily accept the mantle of Archon was likely not the most comforting thing to happen in the given situation after all. But Decarabian was gone, and Andrius had ceased his blizzards, so without a word, he slipped into the crowd and left, a wanderer once more.
-
now back to Gunnhildr
she was the first to receive an anemo vision from Barbatos, no I do not take criticism on this "the power bestowed on her by Barbatos" like please, they basically said it.
It also mentions that she crowned Venti with laurels(symbol of vistory) after the battle- the book Biography of Gunnhildr additionally says "the Gunnhildr Clan will continue honoring the legacy of its ancestors and its duty to the Anemo Archon: to protect Mondstadt, the land and all who inhabit it, forever."
I really like this because it conveniently ties into my past headcanon about Venti granting visions to the people of Mondstadt and having them be the ones to erect wind barriers and defend the city in his absence.
So in the Archon War I like to imagine that the Gunnhildr clan had a lot of people who were actually granted visions and were basically in charge of protecting it from those who would attempt to ambush them.
Mondstadt essentially became known for this- the fact that the mortals within it were strong enough to fend off the force of a god without support from their own.
but regardless, Gunnhildr, as she had before, served as a priestess to Barbatos, the closest thing that Mondstadt had to a ruler, and yet she only took charge of prayer and protection.... i hate to just- equate them to their descendants- but to an extent- her role was kind of like a merge between Jean and Barbara- Except with a whole lot less structure.... i really dont want their characters to just be carbon copies of the descendants but- c'mon, the comparison was right there.
anyways besties- back to Venti so i can tie them in
The Archon War was one of the worst times for Venti in his entire life thus far. And the time immediately after Decarbian's fall, while Gunnhildr and the Ragnvindir were still alive, was the key period of time in which things could have gone very differently.
Venti is the god of freedom. That's a reoccurring theme and I think I've made that abundantly clear. But during this time, Venti was anything but free.
I've mentioned before how he would stay far from the city of Mondstadt so the shockwave of his death wouldn't reach him, should he fall.... well- Venti is new to a lot of things- godhood- humanity- war- freedom- and at this point he was trying hard to figure out how to be Mondstadt's god without becoming Decarabian, and while still being able to survive, and make sure they survived, and see the world for his friend, and carry on his friends legacy.
And this is a lot of stuff for what was once a carefree elemental being, and there were certain things that had to be done for this to happen. He couldn't just stay in Mondstadt, or he would grow weak and his people would be vulnerable to attack, but he couldn't abandon it, because despite being able to fend for themselves, there's always hat just in case. He couldn't stay in any one place outside of Mondstadt for very long or he'd be found and killed. He knew in order for Mondstadt to survive he would have to take an active role in the war, strengthen himself so he could defend Mondstadt, and thats exactly what he did.
He started by going after the less powerful gods, ones he had a chance at beating with the power he got from the Gunnhildr clan and the rest of Mond, and by wiping them out, he would grow stronger, so he kept it up- working his way up the metaphorical ladder.
but he couldn't let anyone near him either, because he knew just what would happen if he was attacked then. Were it not for Gunnhildr's prayer, the early years of the Archon War would have been without contest the loneliest time of his life, and there would be nothing he could do about it, bound by survival and his attachment to the legacy of his friend, constantly fearing for his life and going against his very nature as the god of freedom. Frankly thrust into that circumstance that early on, and having to face it alone, it's likely that Venti would have caved under the pressure and dropped his attachment to either his survival, or to his friends legacy... or just something entirely worse(isolation messes with brains) so I'm attributing the fact that he didn't do that to Gunnhildr's companionship, speaking to him and guiding him through it as he had guided her through the blizzard some time ago.
I also like to think that she's responsible for founding at least a number of the different celebrations that still happen in Mondstadt even now.
Ugh supportive warrior priestess- we stan
anyway meanwhile! we got the Ragnvindir
He hears about Venti taking part in the Archon war during his wanderings and returns to Mondstadt to check in, wary of what he might find.
Venti, who hadn't seen him since the rebellion, is elated to say the least and they do a bit of catching up because they need it
and then the conversation turns more serious, and the Ragnvindir brings up a third thing that Venti needs to hold onto- his humanity.
See, in the early years, just desperate to get a foothold on the world, Venti's first number of targets were just indiscriminately going after those he knew to be weaker than him, and the Ragnvindir points this out, saying that while it's not necessarily bad, if he keeps doing it, it won't be long until he causes his and, by extent, Mondstadt's legacy to be tainted by a reputation for slaughter, no better than any of the other bloodthirsty gods that frequented the war's fields. "Think of what the bard would do, we were both close enough to do that much"
And Venti becomes yet more caged, but recognizes that he's right, and this is another turning point, that in the coming years would keep Venti from losing himself.
also- Gunnhildr, Venti having told her about the Ragnvindir's concerns that he now shared, probably organized some kind of event (not unlike the right of part, but also, yes unlike it) that was deliberately intended and designs to serve as an excuse that Venti could chose to take to visit Mondstadt, something she know he desperately wanted to do, but wouldn't allow himself for fear of putting them in danger. But if she made it an official celebration, then it would give Venti the opportunity to visit his people again, under the guise of it being a responsibility, not having to deal with the moral implications of doing so at a time when he was already dealing with enough of those already.
Also on his travels, the Ragnvindir probably started and spread a number of rumors that could end up working in Venti's favor, not that anyone ever knew it was him of course.
basically Gunnhildr protected the people of Mondstadt and did all she could to keep everyone in as high spirits as possible, Venti included.
And as for the Ragnvindir, he took a more realistic approach, traveling and getting venti followers in far places, spreading false information about him, and just overall making sure that Venti didn't do things he'd regret.
And when they died, Venti would carry their legacy with him as well, not losing his humanity to the tide of war as he very nearly had(though he still often came close), and trying to spreading high spirits where ever he could without fail.

ok sorry but how many people do yall think rog has ever slept with cos iâm guessing four figures no lie
okay, i donât normally respond to messages like this because, frankly, i dont really feel like its my place to speculate on rogerâs sex life. Theres a difference between writing a fiction story with a character named after and inspired by him and discussing his actual personal life which i have no real knowledge about. What he gets up to in his free time is between him and the women he does it with. but i didnât really feel able to ignore this one. please donât take this as me telling you off or shutting you down or anything like that. If you want to speculate about rogerâs body count thats up to you, go nuts with it. and i love when you guys message me and I donât want to discourage you from feeling like you can talk to me or just send me your random thoughts or whatever about any subject. But I feel like I need to address why I disagree with this sentiment. Also so I can ask yaâll to please stop asking me questions like this.Â
So firstly, just to get this out of the way. 1000 is a lot. even 100 is a lot. I think if rog had slept with 1000+ people heâd have a least a few illegitimate kids and probably would have been checked into rehab for sex addiction (not to mention STIs and such because lbr people in the 70s specifically probs werent the most careful especially if drugs were involved). I mean even if we were going to say Rog got lucky with a different woman after every show we wouldnât reach 1000. According to google, Queen played around 700 shows in their entire career. If we add shows played by The Cross thats only another 67 odd shows (according to wikipedia).Â
now, i think there are 3 things that contribute to this idea of roger as especially promiscuous. 1. His attitude/demeanour/general way he sells himself. 2. the generally held conceptions about rock stars and rock star behaviour. and 3. what iâm going to call fandom dumbassery (but i mean that with a lot of love)Â
So lets start with the man himself. Roger Taylor is loud and opinionated and not particularly humble. He knows heâs talented and attractive though for at least some time he was a little self-conscious about how feminine he looked. Heâs always up for a laugh, likes to party and has admitted to enjoying his drink and his women. Heâs had kids with two different women, whoâs relationships âoverlappedâ, and is currently married to a third. At least thatâs the perception we can gleam from his interviews, behind the scenes videos, and other public appearances.Â
Itâs easy to see how that image leads to accusations of being a womaniser and a cheater and basically a bit of a slut lmao. But hereâs the thing. I think Roger, in part, markets himself that way. The thing is, if you look at his solo songs and the relationships he currently has with his kids and their mothers, and things other people have said about him/his relationships over the years, I think itâs fair to say he also has a bit of a romantic streak maybe? idk if thats the best way of describing it...heâs self confessed to not being a fan of marriage and the like but heâs not opposed to writing and singing love songs and seems to believe in ~love~ as a concept/power. He certainly cares deeply for those closest to him. Whether or not that translates to an agreement with monogamy I canât say for certain. Itâs hard to draw conclusions here because a lot of what we know of his personal life was fed to us through magazines and news paper gossip column articles and they were never looking for the truth, they were looking for scandal and sensationalism.Â
For instance the whole thing with the overlapping relationships. I think most people who have read anything about roger and dom and debbie realise that itâs not as cut and dry as âhe was cheating with debbie and left dom for herâ even though that was the story being sold by the press at the time. The reality (or at least the version closer to reality since obviously no one outside of them and whoever they were closest with knows all the nitty gritty details) is that rog and dom had already split when they got married. it was a marriage of convenience to make sure her and the kids would be looked after financially etc even after heâd moved out. So while it looked to the public like he married one chick and 30 odd days later was spotted with another, there really wasnât anything untoward happening. Iâm not saying he never had casual hookups or one night stands and iâm not saying he never cheated, but I do think some of itâs been exaggerated, whether by him to encourage the rock star perception or by newspaper/magazine articles.
Now, obviously, we have stories of rog, particularly in the late 60s and into the 70s, being with multiple women. Thereâs that bit in the Interview with a Queen âGroupieâ (which is a fantastic read and i defs recommend checking it out if you havent already) where she talks about roger being a chick magnet and says that, at the time, it was pretty common to sleep about. But, she also says she didnt notice him doing it more or less than anyone else and seemed to mostly be with Jo (his girlfriend at the time). This is the same Jo that got a mention in the Queen in 3D book (âi think we all had the feeling that these two were together for life, but it was not to beâ). Conversely, we have that quote (which i cannot find rn but iâll link it when i do) about roger sometimes having one girl upstairs while another waited in the garage for them to be finished. I think it was about Rog in the mid-late 60s in Truro but whatever. Obviously he wasnât anywhere near celibate and itâs likely was sleeping with people outside of his relationship(s). But one has to assume that as he got older those kinds of antics stopped happening, at least as frequently.
There is one potential story that I remember reading somewhere along the way about Roger cheating on Debbie while she was pregnant. But, take that with a grain of salt because I canât find the article again and also I think it was from like The Sun or something equally as rubbish. The press was notoriously always printing mean shit about the boys and that might have been another thing they published to create scandal. Even so, if we assume itâs legit that is still only 1 story. Not to throw him under the bus but Brian is the one with multiple confirmed affairs, who literally wrote songs about it all. So why is Roger the one with sleazy reputation?Â
This is where my second and third points come in. There is a pervasive idea about what it means to be a rock star. The whole trashing hotel rooms, sleeping with groupies, passing out drunk every night thing. And Iâm sure that Queen was like that to an extent. I think itâs pretty common knowledge that all of them got up to shit on the road. Between innuendo laden interviews and songs, videos and accounts of their parties, stories CT has put online, and other stories like the one of Roger bringing out lines of coke as dessert when he was having dinner with motley crue. They definitely embraced the rock and roll lifestyle. And I think with Rogerâs personality being what it is, itâs easy to link him to those traditional rock star tropes and say it was all true all the time. I also think Roger has done nothing to counter those beliefs. Heâs been open about how he wanted to be a rock star since the minute he picked up a guitar, heâs labelled himself as a great lay in magazines, heâs joked about girls pulling their tits out over dinner in interviews (though he said he didnt take her home), heâs written songs like One Night Stand and Dirty Mind and Airheads which explicitly mention his preference for women and alcohol. I think itâs fair to say heâs kind of encouraged that view of himself. Whether it was just a side effect of being part of such a well known band and having such a boisterous demeanour/personality, or whether it was intentional as a version of promotion i donât know. maybe a mix of them? I mean Iâm sure it didnât hurt sales and stuff. itâs the whole guys want to be him, girls want to be with him thing, right? Maybe thatâs just me being cynical though lmao.Â
Anyway, the fandom brain has taken all of that and compressed it into memes and jokes about rog being the band slut. Which iâm not complaining about, lord knows iâve made the same jokes and reblogged the same posts and used those tropes in my fics. Theyâre funny and lend themselves to interesting fic concepts. Plus, i think roger is the sort of person who would probably laugh about most of it. But itâs an idea that keeps feeding into itself through fandom, perpetuating what is probably a misguided view of his personal life.
Again, I am sure heâs had his fair share of fun and Iâm not trying to make out that he was always perfect or whatever, but I donât think heâs been with as many women as the popular discourse would imply and I certainly donât think heâs in the 4 digit numbers.Â

Echoes of You (Spike Spiegel)
A/N: The formatting on this is h e l l. But when nostalgia slaps you and says âFall in love with Spike Spiegel again.â You do as itâs says. Thus this
Roman Holiday had changed who she was so many times she didnât remember who she was when she started. Sheâd been a drug lord, a spy, an informant, a bounty, a runaway. But these days, with blue and purple hair and a coat large enough to hide a pistol, she settled on being a ghost among the streets, listening and picking up information as she went. She found herself on Mars, mourning friends and paying dues. She was going to have to disappear again soon. But first, she needed food, scissors, and some hair dye; though she was uncertain what color. She tried walking into a convenience store when she ran into someone.
âSorry about that.â The guy said. From that one comment Roman almost got whiplash. That voice shouldnât be talking to her. That voice shouldâve been dead. If not from the first time, then definitely the second time. She looked up at him and sure enough it was him. Spike Spiegel in all his blue suited, disheveled glory. And he looked just as shocked to see her. âRo-?â He didnât get to finish her name because she took off, sprinting in the opposite direction as fast as she could. He of course went after her, he always would, and she scaled a building to get to the roof. She pulled her pistol and waited for him to catch up.
âWho are you?â She asked.
âRo donât do this.â
âTell me! Stop playing cruel tricks and just tell me!â She yelled. It couldnât be him, it shouldnât be him.
âRoman, itâs really me.â
âBullshit, you died.â
âI didnât,â
âThen you died again.â
âIâve had worse.â He said with his trademark lazy smile. Roman almost let up at that. He still knew her weak points.
âGimme the word.â She said, lowering her gun but not putting it away. He furrowed his brows and then figured it out.
âLily.â He said. Roman lowered her pistol entirely and put it away. Her flower of choice. Julia had roses, she had lilies. Her whole form softened, though she was far from the Roman he used to know. Spike took a step forward to see if sheâd let him and sure enough, she didnât move. âItâs good to see you Roman. Glad to know youâre still picking up information.â He said. Roman shrugged and sat down, still keeping her distance.
âNothing better to do on this dirt rock. You know you threw the whole operation into chaos, right? Thereâs a power vacuum with at least seven people trying to fill it.â She said. Spike sat across from her, a little closer than she wouldâve liked, but she allowed it. She chalked it up to some primal part of her brain still wanting to keep him as close as she could. He pulled a cigarette from his pocket and stuck it in his mouth.
âWhatâs next for you then? Figure youâre not gonna stick around for that mess to sort itself out.â He said as he fished out a lighter and lit the cigarette. He took a drag and offered it to Roman. She took it and copied the movement. She never smoked unless she was with Spike. Again, she chalked it up to that primal part of her brain that was still 13 years old and hoped that she still stood a chance against a far prettier half-sister.
âI cut my hair, redye it and catch a flight out of here. Iâm thinking Ganymede. Or the asteroids. Hell, I could go be a small fry in Tijuana.â She said.
âAnd what color will it be this time?â He asked. Romanâs mood was usually determined by her hair. She changed it with regimes, mood, the music she was listening to that month, and sometimes when she felt she had no control of anything. He watched as she thought over her answer.
âRed. Probably. Or pink. Julia always thought Iâd look good with pink.â She said muttering the last part.
âYou would.â He said. Roman tried to not flush to the color in question, but she never did take compliments well. âI remember she was constantly trying to push you out of the shadows.â
âI like the shadows. No one judges me there. Iâm useful there.â Roman argued. Spike chuckled and took a drag from his cigarette. The motion was repeated when he passed it to her to take a drag.
âMaybe, but you have no reason to stay there. Unless you wanna start working for the police.â He said.
âI could be a bounty hunter.â She said with a shrug.
âOh no, I donât think I could have you competing for my dinner money too.â He said with his trademark smile. Roman laughed at his comment, a real laugh. Something she hadnât done in a while. As she laughed, Spike watched her. Her face was lit up by the beginnings of sunset and neon. Her and Julia had no personality similarities, but sometimes they did have physical ones.
âI havenât done that in forever.â She said when she finally calmed down. Spike smiled at her. She seemed lighter now, more at ease. It was like the laughter fit had locked her into a time machine and she had shed so many years of cynicism with ease. âWhat about you? What becomes of the great Spike Spiegel? Now newly undeceased again.â She asked. Spike thought it over. He wasnât certain. He didnât know if he could go back to the Bebop. But he didnât know any other way of life. Maybe just him and Jet could strike out again. Maybe he needed to go forward. Maybe he needed to disappear.
âNo idea. Maybe dye my hair and change planets.â He said. Roman rolled her eyes.
âHey, donât steal my one thing.â She said. Spike chuckled and actually gave her a genuine smile. They were silent for a minute, casually passing the cigarette between themselves. For a moment they felt like teenagers again, sharing cigarettes and sharing a moment of uncertainty. At least thatâs how Roman always felt in moments like these. Until finally she broke the tension.
âAnnie told me you came to see her.â She said as she looked down.
âYeah. Thought I might finally kill him.â
âIgnored my bounty then.â
âAlways did. Whenever it came up, no matter what the price, no matter what name you were under. I wouldnât do that to you Roman.â He said. It felt like a whisper on the wind. Like if he said it any louder, heâd lose her like he lost Julia. Roman leaned into this, allowing one of her knees to knock into his. She needed this. She needed him. Outside of just that primal part that told her she was once 13 and crushing on the one person in the whole galaxy she couldnât have.
âI look at you and I think⌠god what have we done with our lives? And what did it get us?â She said with what Spike could only describe as the truest form of sadness heâs ever seen from her. Roman Holiday kept all her cards close to her chest until one day, sheâd die. But now? He felt like he was peering through a brick in her wall. âI loved my sister more than anything in this life. And I chose her happiness over mine, time and time again.â She scoffed and leaned back on her hands. âGod I canât believe Iâm saying this.â
âWhat?â He asked. He wasnât sure what was coming next, but curiosity killed him to know.
âA million years ago, she said to me âthis oneâs mine.â So, I stood by.â She said. âAnd I knew I shouldnât do anything, I should just leave and pretend I never met you. But Julia,â
âShe was too kind for that.â He said as his brain was slowly putting the pieces together. He had always wondered when they were kids, even before Roman became a shadow figure, why she always seemed to fall into that point, even when Julia brought her out, or when he tried to talk to her. But now he got it. Sheâd been hiding pain this whole time.
âI should go.â She said. She stood up and dusted herself off. Spike stood up as well and grabbed her wrist before she could go anywhere.
âDonât disappear again.â He said. Roman looked down at her beat up shoes, trying to hide what had just come to pass.
âYou canât ask that of me.â She said.
âRo, youâre all Iâve got left.â
âAnd whoâs fault is that?â She snapped. Spike wanted to get offended. But he remembered an incident when they were younger, where heâd gotten too close and sheâd snapped, and he retaliated. They didnât speak for a month. Not until Julia forced them to, and not until after heâd brought her lilies. He sighed and plucked the nearly burnt out cigarette from his teeth and passed it to her. She took a drag and then stomped it out. She was still looking down at it when Spike brought her face to look up at him. Roman unintentionally leaned her cheek into his hand, blinking at him a couple of times.
âI wonât let this be the last time I see you Roman.â He said. Spike, at his core, was a deeply sentimental person. He couldnât lose Roman. She reached up and brought his face to hers, giving him a small, soft and what Spike could only describe as a ghost of a kiss. Like she was afraid of what fully kissing him would mean. He kissed her cheek in turn, letting it sit there a little longer than either of them expected. When they separated, they put the distance back between them. Once again, afraid of what the closeness would do to them. She tossed him a comm unit she had pocketed off some guy and he caught it with ease.
âCall that ship of yours.â
âWouldnât that be going backward?â He asked.
âOne step backward to go miles forward? I think itâs worth it. Call them Spiegel.â She said. Spike nodded.
âRemember, pink.â He said. Roman gave him a small, soft smile and nodded.
âSee you Space Cowboy.â She said as she ran off the edge of the roof, scaling down the building to go buy some scissors, some food, and some pink hair dye.

Furthermore ,many propane gas grills now occur normal with a rotisserie attachment which type of design increase the particular risk for process a lot more convenience. while inexpensive bbq grills do occur within the market, they will are always more costly than a comparable charcoal model one. To sum up, the actual gas models offer particular advantages: zero have to build along with ignite coal fire, speedier heat-up time, stove-like temperature controls, predictable cooking results, and no ashes to clean up. fallout 2 liveblog, lads. got distracted with things and took awhile to finish this post up but it is finally here
this is incredibly excessively long. fo2 is like 5x the size of fo1 and i just ramble a lot more this time too
seriously i just popped the text into word out of curiosity and this is 10.5k ¯\_(ă)_/ÂŻ
- the beginning is so vastly different from fallout 1 and its great. there are a couple cinematics, including a chilling introduction to the enclave, and an introduction to the elder of your tribe, in contrast to the one with the overseer in fallout 1. super cool, feels fresh. also the upgraded game engine is def noticeable. starting in a tribal village instead of a vault is rad
- so, fallout 2 is not messing around. the TUTORIAL kicked my ass so bad i ended up restarting it lmao i was able to figure out what i was supposed to do alright but the combat was brutal until i got a technique down. also this was my favourite part:
- early fallout games, a summary:
- checking out everything in arroyo was nice. tons of little things to do and people to chat with, some of which are stated to be relatives of the chosen one which is neat. i already feel more connected to home here than i did with vault 13 in the first game, while still feeling like character creation is fully up to the player; they arent IMMEDIATE relatives, its just a âthis is a family and communityâ feeling without forcing certain close relationships. real good. it doesnt force you to act a certain way because of relationship bonds, but it does make arroyo feel like home
- most notable things i did in arroyo: rescued a dog named smoke from some geckos. bless. the geckos kicked my ass pretty easily too, i ended up sneaking past half of them to get the job done; fought some sentient plants in the shamanâs garden. interestingly, these are similar to the plants you find in vault 22, zion, and big mt. how did big mt.s death plants get over here
- off to the first town; klamath! i helped a guy guard his brahmin. i bought everyone a round at the bar. nearly got killed by some more geckos
- also stumbled into a crashed enclave vertibird (fun fact, in fallout new vegas, one of the enclave remnants members, daisy whitman, says that the only time she ever crashed a vertibird was by klamath so we can assume this is hers), complete with some corpses. one of them had a keycard on them and i have no idea what thats about but im guessing itll be important eventually?? guarding the vertibird was a damaged robot
- between that and this quest ive got to kill some ârats of unusual sizeâ im starting to encounter all the references fallout 2 is known for
- its time to d-d-d-d-d-d-d-duel
- the rats ALSO kicked my ass. everything is kicking my ass. normal rats are fine because you can manipulate their action points but anything bigger than that is tough and the boss itself, was REALLY tough especially because i only had one gun and the gun only had one bullet
- so, i took a break and went back in town to pick up my first companion: sulik! heâs really awesome i love talking to him. my charisma is 7 so i think that means i can have 3 companions but theres way more than that in the game and i want to travel with all of them at least a little but i have a feeling im not going to want to ask sulik to leave hes my good pal.Â
thanks, small child
- anyway sulik and i ended the rats it was good. other than this one mishap:
- got to the den which was initially pretty unsettling. in the time between fo1 and fo2, jet has been invented and most unnamed npcs in the den are addicted to it. thereâs a slaver guild on one side of town. also, all the kids in the den try to pickpocket you when you pass them. atmospherically, fo2 is a lot lighter than fo1, but the subject matter is much more mature. that said, i started going around and picking up little errands i could do for people and theyre all very nice. not as scary as i thought it would be. i rescued a guy from the slavers and got a new companion: vic! when im much better equipped, i am coming back here and killing the entire slaver guild, no doubt about that, but sadly i still have barely any decent equipment for myself, let alone anything to equip my companions with
- theres a ghost hanging out in an old house and she wants her locket back. ghosts exist in fallout. cool. got the locket and she turned into bones, which i then went and buried in the town graveyard. i checked out all the other headstones and they were incredible here are some of my favourites
- a guy in the junkyard is willing to sell me a car if i bring the right parts. i can have a CAR 0: definitely dont have the parts OR the funds yet but...... im coming back for this car
- while heading for vault city, i discovered modoc, a quaint farming town going through some struggles due to a drought and a farm up north that is apparently run by ghosts and is decorated by dead bodies. wild
- lots of the quests here required some sleuthing and running all over the map talking to people but i think i got it all figured out. turns out the bodies are faked to scare people away and the ghosts are just some people living underground under the farm. i managed to resolve things peacefully and now i think modoc will be okay, yay!
- i got myself into an eating contest, also, hereâs the eventful part of it. i will let anyone reading this experience what happened for themself
this reminds me of the time mass effect tells you just how many balls krogan have
- continued on to vault city and man just. a real roller coaster of an experience. at first, vault city looks like the most safe and stable settlement ive seen in fo1 or fo2. its very clean and organised, its well populated, it has good defences, has a more elaborate (reminiscent of the old world) social structure etc. a GECK was used here and id say part of this areas purpose in the game is to show you what youre actually trying to do for your village
however, vault city is full of self-righteous, bigoted, slaving assholes. âoutsidersâ are kept outside the bounds of the inner city until they can get a day pass and theyre searched before they can go in during the day, if they make it that far. there are slaves but the people claim its not slavery and get mad if you call it such. i hate these people.Â
and they sent me off to a ghoul inhabited town because the power plant the ghouls live in is infecting their water and its pretty understood they want me to kill the ghouls and destroy the plant or whatever. no sir.Â
- so yeah vault city sucks BUT I RAN INTO companion number 3: JOHN CASSIDY!!
hello soon-to-be father of one of my all time favourite fallout companions!!! welcome to the group
- headed up to the ghoul town, gecko, to see about this malfunctioning power plant. its so good and refreshing after vault city, i love this place and all the people in it so much. here comes a lot of screencaps of chats i had with some lovely ghouls.
harold again!!! and since fo1, heâs gained the famous tree, herbert, or bob or whatever.Â
this ghoul, lenny, came from necropolis and also saw the vault dweller. i believe hes a potential companion but i couldnt ask him to join, either because i already have 3 or maybe my reputation in gecko isnt up yet. hes excellent though and i will come back for him when i have a convenient chance to leave a current companion somewhere safe
i love this
ghouls are so good
relatable, my dude!!! also you can play that card game with this chap. i did so and won. now i have two sets of cards. im the king of games
idk why but this is so fucking funny to me. that ghouls in general can just go on an epic power nap and be assumed dead. and that this ghoul in particular just wanders off and sleeps for ages. i got a quest to find him. he was at the den and in a coffin and one of the citizens was convincing people to pay to see a âmummyâ and honestly? honestly. this is one of my favourite fallout quests across ALL games, maybe. its so funny. heres a bit of it:
you tell woody to leg it and he just thanks you and bolts. incredible
- I GOT THE CAR (feat. vic, cassidy, and sulik)
- we drove in the car down south. iâm aiming for ncr territory because a) i think thats where the main questline advances and b) im ready to see tandi again, who at this point is like 96 years old i think. super excited. however, new reno is on the way so i thought id pop in and check it out real quick, not intending to stay and do anything yet but then SOMEONE STOLE MY BRAND NEW CAR.
- getting my car back cost me almost all my money. god damn
- anyway i took off right after to the ncr and then vault 15 to move along the main story. once again, the khans are causing trouble and really the only option is killing them. i guess the khans change a lot between the early games and new vegas. certainly explains how frustratingly anti-khan the ncr is in new vegas though. in rare ncr playthroughs i get so mad about how the ncr treats a potential alliance but. man, i know the history now. getting to see where faction tension came from helps, especially since in new vegas you mostly hear about bitter springs, not all the crap that happened before that to make the tension more two sided. im still mad at the ncr and think they could stand to be more civil after what happened at bitter springs but its still interesting to know how things progressed. the khans caused trouble in the first two games but eventually chilled out and the ncr still hasnt gotten over it
the fight with the khans was VERY difficult. lots of them had automatic burst fire weapons id never even seen before this point and it took a handful of times to get it done to my satisfaction. BUT this is where i encountered my first sniper rifle, my preferred weapon in the first game, and it proved just as useful this time around
- i looked up how long i had before all the dream sequences (id only gotten the first by this point) because i was anxious about the âtime limitâ and it turns out i have all the time in the world to mess about so main questline went on hold. time to drive around to all the places i bypassed earlier and return to other places to finish things up. also it occurs to me that the chosen one had probably never even seen a car before leaving the village?? they just fucking buy a car and cruise the wasteland in style despite having no prior knowledge of cars. i cant believe the companions willingly get into the car with them. other than sulik who i imagine is down for whatever. i love sulik
- stopped in broken hills and hit someone with my car. remember how i literally just said that the chosen one doesnt actually know shit about cars
broken hills is great, its super mutants, ghouls, and humans all living in peace and the sheriff is marcus, who you see in jacobstown in new vegas!! you also find out marcusâ backstory a bit more. in nv he does talk about naming jacobstown after a friend but you get the longer version here, which is that jacob was actually w/ the brotherhood of steel and they were fighting each other but so evenly matched that they ended up just talking and becoming friends. everyones very nice and its a neat town. theres a scientist with a scorpion hes experimented on to make it smarter and stuff and you can test your own intelligence, agility, and perception against it. i won agility and perception but failed to beat the scorpion at chess rip. the main quest here requires getting something from new reno though so i moved on. ill get back to it on the way back south
- dealt with some raiders i wasnt properly equipped for earlier (the first time i checked them out i barely made it past the many many traps and the scorpion den). went back to vault city to let them know the raiders were dealt with. they made me a citizen after i fixed the power plant in gecko and tbh i hate that the npcs here call me citizen now i hate this place lmao that said, i left vic here, in his daughters shop. as far as i know, companions will just wait exactly where you leave them even if you never come back, they dont actually return to any kind of daily routine but in a roleplaying sense i like the idea that ive parted ways with vic here so he can try to work on his relationship with his daughter. after that, i went and got lenny, the ghoul from gecko whod been in necropolis when the vault dweller blew through. cassidy keeps says he smells. shut the fuck up, cassidy. also vic used to complain about sulik and that is why hes the first to get cut from the crew, js.Â
- finished up a couple things in gecko and modoc then headed for the den. got a monty python reference special encounter
i got too caught up in it and forgot to screencap the last question oops. but they asked for the prerequisites for a specific perk, and the potential answers were various levels or agility points. i think i guessed agility 6 but i was wrong and i died lmao
- got back to the den and killed all the slavers finally. feels good man. the citizens seemed pleased. one of the bar owners even paid me for it
- suddenly started getting this mysterious message even though i was standing in the middle of the street and my cursor wasnt even on âtell me about things im pointing atâ mode. i have no idea what this means
- went down to redding. the first thing i see is this kid
- as if that werent enough, a bartender and a shopkeep both refused to properly speak to me and kicked me out of their places just for having a ghoul in my party. redding is on my shit list
- its a mine town and i was asked to help get one part of the mine up and running again. theres a chip missing and also the mines are full of âcrittersâ. it turns out redding is kind of the place where the politics between multiple factions starts to become more noticeable. there were hints of it between vault city and ncr, but redding is a small town with literal gold mines underneath it, and the chosen one gets to decide who to put in charge of the mine once they get it back in working order: the crew that wants redding to join the ncr, a faction thats aiming for expansion and prosperity and ruling out as much criminal behaviour as they can, or new reno, a vice city ruled by a bunch of competing families living in casinos and bars. considering the one time i went to new reno my car was immediately stolen i think id be in favour of the ncr side even if it were the ncr as they become in new vegas. there has been an undertone of âthe ncr wants to bring as many towns into the fold as possible and enforce their laws across all of the stateâ in other places, but you get more of an active say in it, here. a precursor to the major mojave changing choices you get to make in new vegas
- i got a bit ahead of myself there with the politics and rpg game design talk. i didnt even mention yet that the critters in the mines were aliens
yeah. THOSE aliens. at first i thought it would be just a little easter egg and the rest of the critters would be a mix of rat variants or maybe id finally see some deathclaws but nope its all aliens
they were kind of reminiscent of deathclaws though. they were certainly on the perceptive side and while they didnt hit as hard as a deathclaw, it was easy to get swarmed by a lot of them and still take lots of damage fast. for the first time while playing the classic games i had to pull a stealth move. i do it occasionally in new vegas but kind of felt like in these old games going in alone was a quick way to die. but it worked wonderfully. i left my companions on one level of the mine and then me, my sniper rifle, and my mediocre but decent enough sneak skill went and cleared out the rest with no trouble at all. aim for the eyes and all that. im not sure how sneak criticals work in these games but theyre effective
also i inspected one of the corpses just in case there would be more flavour text and just
fair enough.
- once i finished up small quests in redding, i continued to new reno. i kind of still didnt want to do anything there tbh it all kind of seems like Bad Karma stuff going on here. but i needed that one part in order to help out broken hills. pretty much got the thing and left again, just like last time.
- finally got a deathclaw! in was in the mine where i fixed the broken hills air purifier and it was called âlesser deathclawâ which makes sense because i killed it in one shot. a very easy first deathclaw encounter
- after finishing up most of the broken hills stuff i went back to the ncr because id literally only done the main quest and then taken off again. except everyones like âwell we have this problem but dont ask me about it youll need to talk to this specific dudeâ and I Cannot Figure Out How To Get To Him
- so instead i drove west until i hit san francisco just for the hell of it. i just wanted to know where it was. and also i want to get into the brotherhood asap for power armour and special stat implants tbh but the brotherhood dude asked me to fucking infiltrate navarro alone and im not super prepared for that, first of all, and second of all i really feel like anything to do with the brotherhood and enclave is solidly âact 2âł stuff and this is fallout so you can do whatever you want but for the sake of a good First Time Playing story progression it makes sense to finish the whole vault 13 geck thing first u kno
- but those ncr quests were bothering me and so i went back and continued trying to figure out what i was missing, which ended up being that im just. allowed to ask the guard to be let in. i could have sworn the previous time i tried to interact with someone on the other side of a force field i got the âyou cannot get thereâ message so i just ASSUMED... BUT. not in this case, it seems. before i even got to that though i did the caravan run for him thats available through a merchant in town and thought that would be fine and easy and might make working for the dude easier. in the first game, i escorted a caravan once and we just had to kill one pack of raiders and that was it. nothing to worry about. [freeze frame] little did i know this would be the worse mistake i ever made
- first of all i got the second dream sequence just as we left ncr. pretty sure im still several months away from the last of them but it did remind me that Time Is Advancing, SECONDLY there were like 6 encounters along the way and two of them had super mutants & abominations, one of them had multiple deathclaws (tough ones this time), and the others were raiders and such. it was all i could do to keep myself and my companions alive, especially against the super mutants holy fuck. after a truly harrowing journey, we made it to the caravan destination, redding, and we were without the car. i never thought i would miss the car so, so much. walking from redding back down to ncr took FOREVER and the encounters were near constant. once again, keeping everyone alive was not easy. cassidy especially was having a lot of trouble; one of the encounters included him getting absolutely swarmed by centaurs and having to run out of combat while saying things like âmy heart is giving out!â. HARROWING. eventually we made it to new reno, which is about half way between redding and ncr to do some trading and take a damn breather, but we still had just as far to go and time was ticking faster than it had since we first got the car. everything happens so much. i think overall, this took like 2 months. before the brahmin run i was like âi have SO MUCH timeâ but after the brahmin run i was like âokaaaay time to get back to the main quest then i guessâ. not to mention that i felt like doing something Different after that, so in the end i never even went to talk to that one dude
- so!!! vault 13. the vault has new inhabitants and i love them
hell yeah!!!! they were all so nice and cute. i was even allowed to go into the deathclaw motherâs cave and talk to her, though my companions had to stay outside. there were some humans living here, including a mother and daughter whoâd found safety with the deathclaws, a person whoâd been at vault 15 before and i had a pleasant talk with, and a terribly depressed man whom the deathclaws were trying to help, even by way of medication. these deathclaws are so good they are So Good.Â
- and here we have...... a new companion!!! hello there pal
i had to leave lenny behind in order to recruit goris, but how am i to resist a deathclaw friend? i figured vault 13 with all these lovely deathclaws would be a perfectly safe spot to leave him for the time being [cue dramatic irony if anyone reading this has played the game themself]
- i offered to help the deathclaws fix their computer, because the voice recognition was broken. popped over to new reno, got the thing, went back, the deathclaws love me
- i went right to arroyo with the GECK and discovered that my entire village was killed or taken by the enclave! ay! i already kind of knew this is what happens no matter how long you take getting back with the GECK (ive read that even if you speed run to vault 13, you still always get the last dream sequence after that says everyones dying and even so it wouldnt really matter because the enclave ends up being the problem, not the lack of water and food rip). in retrospect, i guess this means theres no point in rushing and its beneficial to stick around in places and gain as much xp as you can to level up. i suppose if you dont get the car as soon as possible youd run out of time a lot faster. but even if the outcome is the same i still Feel Bad for not going faster in a roleplay sense, you know so its fine im glad i continued as soon as i felt prepared and equipped to do so. in these classic fallout games i certainly felt more compelled to advance the main questline for the sake of the people waiting for me waaay more than, say, the main questline in a game like skyrim. dragons are rising all over the place and killing tons of people and the fate of the realm rests on the dragonborns shoulders? yeah ill be there in a year leave me alone. i like that the urgency in fo1 and fo2 is felt honestly even if you have a lot of time left or the enclave will show up and ruin everything no matter how long you take
- since i was already so far north, i came back south by way of another round trip through the towns with decent merchants to unload some more inventory because im constantly overloaded, cassidy is constantly overloaded, the car trunk has no space, i need to Stop Hoarding. at vault city, goris told me he sensed his pack was in trouble and said he needed to leave. i didnt really think that much of this, just thought it might be a minor thing. it was not a minor thing.Â
- since goris left and lenny was also back at vault 13, i stopped in broken hills to recruit marcus. we went back to san fransisco, i left all my companions with the brotherhood guy who wanted me to solo infiltrate navarro and took off on my own
- cue me making the following hard save:
- as expected, the road to navarro alone was not easy. the first time i did it, i encountered centaurs that heavily irradiated me before i was able to kill them all on my own, and then an enclave patrol that just obliterated me. the second time i did it, i encountered the cafe of broken dreams special encounter!! which means i could get dogmeat from the first game :D unfortunately i couldnt keep him. the whole point of this trip is to be without companions, after all, but the cafe stayed on my map so i can go back for him if i want to
- finally got to navarro and was able to convince a guy at a gas station that i was a recruit. he gave me a password, but then when i tried to go inside, he got all âthis is private property, leaveâ. idk what i did wrong but whatever i killed him. it didnt turn anyone hostile because they werent close enough to see or hear it. i think maybe the greeter was directing me elsewhere and i just missed it? it was nighttime, so its possible the darkness made me not see it properly. to reference the enclave remnants quest in new vegas again, one of them (i think its cannibal johnson) mentions the sergeant finding a recuit out of uniform and im assuming thats implied to be the chosen one. i figure there was a way for me to get in on the ground level where that incident would have happened, but instead i went down into the basement and geared up there instead
- infiltrating navarro ended up being on par with exploring the glow. theyre both atmospheric and scary as hell, just in different ways. the glow is more environmental, more âif my rad-x wears off ill probably die of radiation poisoning within a minuteâ, and navarro is more about being undercover, more âif i say the wrong thing to the wrong person i might reveal myself and be alone against an entire base of enclave soldiersâ
- but i pulled it off okay. the first person i encountered was suspicious because i wasnt in armour but when i said i was new they told me to go gear up in the armoury, like i mentioned, which gave me my first suit of power armour and also a bunch of other goodies. i released a trapped intelligent deathclaw, got put on guard duty by the sergeant (who patrols around and will force you back into place if he sees you somewhere else. it was very scary), aaaaand.........
dog dog dog dog!! his previous owner was super shitty and had a soundproof lab because he ran gross experiments. he disabled the robodog for biting him and you can find a part to fix him and also kill the scientist (thanks to the soundproof room no one else is hostile) and take k-9 with you instead :D my dog now, asshole
- here are the overly cautious save files i made while navigating navarro and feeling like things would go bad any second
- got back to san fran, gained access to the brotherhood bunker which is super small, just an outpost really, but it had brotherhood power armour which i immediately passed on to sulik because i desperately want him to make it out of this game alive. and it also had the special stat implant computer and i was able to take charisma right away. i think i must have picked the module up in navarro? i didnt know what it was when i grabbed it so i didnt take much note of it. i didnt even know that in this game you need the modules in order to get the stat upgrades. but boosting my charisma by one did indeed allow me another companion, so i was able to bring everyone with me even though i also had k-9. also the computer had a kind of ai named âaceâ and told me they were lonely. god damnit :( ill come visit u as much as i can, ace. they said some really sad stuff about artificial intelligence developing mental disorders god i didnt ask for these feelings
- then the enclave showed up and killed my new brotherhood friend while i was out shopping. enclave can you fucking stop
- decided to go back to vault 13 bc i wanted goris back but the old military base the vault dweller blew up was on the way, so stopped there first
- there were a ton of wolves around and at first they didnt mind me passing through so i got right up on the door and all the rubble from the explosion and then suddenly the wolves all swarmed together and attacked us. wolves nooo
- marcus threw a flare at the wolves. my throwing skill across both games has been very bad and also im stubborn and cant be bothered to equip flares so this was literally the first time id ever seen a flare in use. incredible. thanks marcus for showing me this mechanic i refuse to use myself
- the military base was full of rats, super mutants, and some dead enclave soldiers. we fought through the first two levels but left the third alone because my companions had been taking some heavy hits and were kinda soaking up my stimpacks. didnât really matter, i got another set of power armour and another stat implant module so i feel like i got the best the military base had to offer for the time being. i can go back later if i really want to. gave the power armor to cassidy. marcus cant wear armor, being a super mutant, and ofc k-9 cant either so i officially had enough power armour for every member of the party who could actually equip it
- made it back to vault 13 to discover that the enclave came by and slaughtered all the deathclaws. ENCLAVE. STOP. all thats left are blood stains on the floors. im so sad. goris was still alive, though, and luckily so was lenny. i was worried for a second that the map would be effectively reset somehow and hed be gone but he was still there. i left marcus with him so they can pal it up in a nice vault that is. now. all theirs. :( and took goris back with me instead.Â
- travelled back to san fransisco. i still hadnât done much in either san fran or new reno. i know i missed a companion in new reno but from what ive heard i wont like him nearly as much as the crew i have now. if i could take another on, id would be marcus or lenny still, so. also i think you can get a robobrain as a companion from a location you only get through a quest but im not sure?? what that is. its fine. again, i really like the crew i have.Â
- the captain of the ship that will take the chosen one to the enclave wont chat unless you get some reputation, so i talked to a fella who gambled away his spleen while drunk. yep. another amazing quest, honestly.
not quite on par with the ghoul mummy quest, but its up there man. its up there.
- NOW the captain is willing to chat and tell me what to do to get this ship going. it requires a couple things from navarro and vault 13, and fuel. luckily some of that was already done. unluckily, simply getting fuel proved to be on the complicated side. the main faction of san fran has all the oil and obviously they wont just hand it over, i had to do some stuff for them. they wanted the same item the brotherhood dude wanted and since brotherhood dude just made a copy, i still had the original and could immediately pass it over. cool. the second thing they wanted was for me to kill the leader of the enemy faction. im not normally the type to go in guns blazing without seeing if theres something i can do for the other side and maybe resolve things peacefully, but the hubologists are. unsettling. and remind me of the children of the cathedral from the first game. i did try talking to the leader first and his only offer was to get me to kill the shi leader instead and i wasnt about that so. had some fun shooting my way out of there
- the shi allowed me to have the fuel and now all the citizens in the streets have much nicer floating dialogue. before it was stuff like âare you a spy?â and âleave us aloneâ but after taking out the hubologists its stuff like âguess youre alright after allâ and âyou did a good thing for usâ so i guess..... thats good. still not sure if there was a peaceful way of handling things or if it really was simply âpick a sideâ but from the reaction, i think i made an okay decision
- to install the parts on the ship i had to go below deck and found a shit ton of aliens, centaurs, and floaters. it was a real pain in the ass tbh, these enemies are only hand to hand combat so they swarm you and you cant MOVE and its so hard to see whats going on bc the outlines all overlap. they suck. there was a lost person down here as well that i could help back up to the deck
- and with that all squared away, off to the enclave oil rig!
you got it, cassidy. thereâs my endgame crew: sulik, cassidy, goris, and k-9. mightve been a good idea to bring marcus instead of k-9 but. dog. his damage output isnt the greatest but sometimes he knocks people over which can be helpful.
- there was a terminal right inside that i could use to disable some defence systems but anything more than that was above my skill level, it seems, and i got locked out. i took a staircase down to the next level and found my tribe as well as the inhabitants of vault 13 whod been there before the deathclaws took residence. we shot our way through a ton of enclave soldiers and scientists but luckily it seems that defence disabling i did meant some robots on this floor never attacked
- that said, i still lost goris almost immediately on this level. while most of the robots had been disabled, the turrets were not and they sure can do some mean damage. one of them took goris out in one hit. rip deathclaw friend
- i couldnt free everyone right away, the leader of the vault 13 folk told me the best bet would be to disable the power generator 3 floors below.
- the next floor down included a maze with electric floors. it was. troublesome. after a couple attempts i ended up leaving my companions outside the maze and working through it myself until i was able to get rid of the electric floors, at least, so we werent all constantly taking damage while i figured this crap out. there were two supply rooms on either side of the maze as well so i got some more useful items AND another geck. ive got two now, incredible. for some reason the guards in both siderooms werent armed at all??? i pretty much stood in the doorway which allowed only 2 of them to get close enough to attack and even then they were punching and kicking which isnt very effective when your opponent is in advanced power armour so. that fight was more time consuming than stressful or anything
- after that is a floor with very powerful enclave soldiers protecting the president. in contrast to the unarmed losers on the previous floor, these guys had energy weapons and miniguns and shit. did not go well the first couple times. i ended up doing kind of a cheese thing which was going down alone, getting a sneak critical on one guard, and then sneaking back up the staircase, ending combat. eventually enough guards were coming over to investigate that sneaking was no longer possible so that method only worked a couple times but after that i brought my companions down with me and we worked our way through everyone whod been alerted.Â
- then i stopped to do some healing maintenance before figuring out the best and safest route to the president and............. the game crashed. this was the first time either classic game crashed on me. i dont think it liked me spamming âheal yourselfâ dialogue with cassidy or something. or maybe its completely unrelated. i HAD been bouncing up and down staircases a lot so maybe the frequent loading was unappreciated
- so we had to redo some of the fight but luckily id been saving a lot bc i wasnt sure if my weird tactics were gonna get me in a rough spot haha
- met the president. killed the president. killed the presidents vp and secretary. fun times. its at this point that you get the most clear idea of what the enclave wants to do: kill every mutant, but not just full mutants but anyone who has been exposed enough to the outside world with all its leftover radiation that theyre âless than humanâ so basically they want to kill the entire world except themselves and the people who were still in vault 13. it seems to me at this point, most vaults have either opened naturally, been forcibly opened, or have metaphorially or literally self-destructed so yeah good plan, enclave. there is no one left by your shitty standards and also get over yourselves, mutants are the Best. have you seen lenny and marcus? have you?
- when dealing with the pres i tried out a new gun i got off an enclave guard and holy shit
im not as accurate with it as i am with the gauss rifle but damn
- you can convince a scientist in this area that what theyre doing is bullshit and to give you the fev cure and also cure your village/the vault 13 inhabitants before flooding the oil rig with fev to kill everyone else. this seems like its a really handy and useful thing to do but on this particular run, both cassidy and i died and when i went through the next time, this scientist joined in the fighting and i wasnt able to talk to him again. oh well
- the next floor had the power generator. i put an explosive near it and took off. the path back up to the top floor drops you in an area i never bothered to clear on the way in and we were Obliterated. i tried a few times but seriously this floor was tough as hell. i started doing the stealth thing alone again and that is when i discovered that if you dont have your companions with you, you can just walk through most areas because youre in enclave power armour. i am a Fool. everything could have been so easy!!! i could have left everyone chilling on the top floor, gone off to take care of stuff in simple style, and waltzed back out to the boss fight. but it was too late. i had to reload pre-destroying the generator anyway so this time i did indeed leave my companions in peace while i took care of it and it was so much easier. god. goris could have survived this easily if id done this in the first place. oh well, next time ill know exactly what im doing i guess.Â
- so with the countdown going and only the frank horrigan fight left, i talked my way into getting an enclave group to join my side. youre supposed to be able to access the terminal here to get his own turrets to turn on him as well which presumably makes for an easy fight but OF COURSE this is the computer i fucked with when i first arrived and got locked out of. i had the enclave group support but let me tell you. they were not the most effective. they were a distraction at first, but i still only made it out of this fight with almost no stimpacks and one less companion. cassidy died here, unfortunately. in the middle of the fight i had to loot his corpse for all the stimpacks id given him because i needed them for myself, it turns out. it really was tough, and i also ended up using chems for the first time. i dont like using chems in fallout, generally, but i was willing to take whatever edge i could to actually finish the game
- a couple of the enclave people on my side survived, and sulik and k-9 were ok as well. we headed for the exit with about 5 minutes left on the countdown to destruction. classic fallout protags really have a habit of blowing shit up
rest in pieces!!!!!
- cue ending slideshow. to summarise: the arroyo villagers and the remains of vault 13 used the geck to settle a new community together, the den, modoc, and san fransisco simply prospered well, gecko was taken over by vault city because i optimised the power plant and i suppose that caught vcâs interest but vc ended up withering away themselves and were taken over by the ncr so i hope that means my ghoul friends were eventually free again, redding joined the ncr as well, broken hills dispersed peacefully (and we know from nv the super mutants from there settled happily in the mojave), ncr and vault 15 did well and expanded, the vault 13 deathclaws were unfortunately killed by the enclave and the end card kinda blamed me for it :(, new reno stayed exactly the same because i never bothered to do much there oops, and while there were no ending cards for it, we know from nv that the ncr took over navarro pretty shortly after the enclave oil rig fell.Â
- and there you have it! sulik, k-9 and i were deposited back on the docks of san fransisco and i now have the option of finishing things i didnt do before (like new reno) and/or exploring around gaining levels until i either reach 99 or im bored. i will check out new reno and prob go chat up some of the major characters who may have new things to say now that the enclave is gone and TOTALLY NOT get distracted for ages by fallout week and replaying the entirety of fallout new vegas which was really great now that ive played both classic games. oops- anyway, picked up lenny and marcus from vault 13 since sadly, my party was halved by the oil rig adventure. in future playthroughs i think it would be kinda cool to assemble all the companions and leave them hanging out in vault 13 when theyre not with me like how you can send everyone to the lucky 38 in nv
- started driving around to places with good merchants again because as always i am overencumbered. i lost some good shit on the oil rig when cassidy died because sulik and i could not carry it :( first stop was ncr for selling shit and checking in with tandi. she wouldnt speak to me and her bodyguard/secretary dude also told me to fuck off. kind of thought they would be willing to comment on the enclave deal but i guess not, fine.
- then back to vault city, where i DID get new dialogue about how awesome i am and was also instructed to go log my exploits in the vault 8 terminals. i put my pip boy in the terminal and got some behind the scenes info as well as a cheeky hint to go look at a certain other terminal which, when interacted with, gave me so much xp i instantly levelled up. i did it twice more and levelled up even more. what the heck. incredible. all this levelling up would have been even better if id had marcus and lenny with me because especially marcus has not travelled long enough with me to completely level up BUT EARLIER ID TRIED TO BARTER and the people CALLED FOR THE GUARDS and everyone WENT HOSTILE because i had a super mutant and a ghoul in my party HEY VAULT CITY JUST A REMINDER I HATE YOU
- whatever. i decided to drive around unlocking the rest of the map even though im pretty sure there are no new locations, it just looks nice to have it all coloured in properly. got some combat encounters on the way and prior to dealing with the enclave i tended to skip ones that seemed too dangerous but now im like COME AT ME this party is 3 ppl in power armour, a cyber dog, and a super mutant, with guns that will disintegrate you. TRY IT
- one of the encounters i got was this fucking incredible thing:
this person just kept saying âoil canâ over and over so i grabbed the can off the ground, used it on them, and then they opened up dialogue to thank me, saying theyd been stuck there for ages, and then walked off. lmao what a wild encounter. curious that theyre in enclave armour. did they find the armour and not have training in proper use and management? is this a former enclave employee that just fucked up? who knows
- speaking of former enclave i totally forgot that when i went back to ncr i talked to a doctor there and got new dialogue to ask if he knew about the enclave and it turned out to be dr henry, one of the remnants and eventual residents of jacobstown o: i DID notice they had the same name but i assumed henry would have been at navarro like the rest of them. turns out he had a falling out with the enclave before everything went down and the remnants left to the mojave together
- based on the end clip, i wasnt sure if id find my village in arroyo or not. the voiceover described the new settlement as âmiles away from their old homeâ or whatever but that might have been about the vault 13 ppl specifically, which arroyo IS far away from. also its not like the settlements that disbanded or anything in the slideshow already look like that post-storyline so really i did not know what to expect or if i could actually access my people again. unfortunately, the bridge to arroyo was still destroyed and everything still looked pretty bad up there. so i guess we do not get to know where everyone eventually went
- i still had an outstanding quest in broken hills as well. first of all, a sentient plant wanted to be moved to a different garden which was a simple thing but required a shovel that i didnt have at the time. it was p funny, i went up and immediately used the shovel and the plant was like âdude dont just start digging me up give me some warning firstâ IM SORRY. but yes i talked to the plant and then moved him and then he gave me a hint on how to defeat that scorpion at chess that i was playing against ages ago. also, one of the ghouls in broken hills is the son of set, the ghoul leader of necropolis from the first game. if you get him a bunch of stuff heâll eventually tell you the location of some âtreasureâ that ends up being bottle caps, the currency of the first game. kind of weird that they went back on the bottle caps as currency thing in fo2? i wonder why. glad the new games have caps again. but anyway the chosen one was not amused by getting caps instead of money lmao the caps were in a well so you have to enlist some help and then you get so riled up about it being caps instead of money you forget to help the guy back up
- OKAY. NEW RENO.
- i went to talk to this myron bloke ive heard so much about since i know hes a possible companion and god he annoyed me so fast
- this is the first time ive ever pissed off a talking head enough for the animation to change to their âangryâ face i think. i once pissed off killian darkwater in the first game but i have no idea what id done to cause it since it was after id already worked with him and it wasnt nighttime or anything i think it was a bug idk but with myron i was intentionally smartassy with him bc he was just SO ANNOYING and also hes the creator of a drug that has fucked up a lot of people and he doesnt seem to even understand what hes doing?? or care??? not to mention hes got slave labour. when i saw that going in i was kinda feeling like id be more likely to kill him than ask him to join my party (which was already full anyway, i really had no intention of bringing him along) but huffs i dont think theres a quest attached to that kind of thing so it would probably just be considered assault/murder and maybe get more people hostile than im willing to deal with. so. i just left
- so that aspect of new reno sucked as expected but then!!! THEN!!! i became a BOXER! i convinced a guy named stuart little to hire me as the lone woman boxer, he gave me a list of nicknames to choose and i decided on âhurricaneâ and then i beat the hell out of a guy
this is the second guy i fought, after id gained some popularity and i fucking killed the dude. i killed him. i was really scared for a second that id have to fight the entire room but they didnt even care, accidental death is just something that happens in this line of work sometimes i guESS?? okie doke. but after literally murdering a man in the ring i decided to take a break from boxing
- theres a dude in new reno that i spoke to once ages ago and im not actually sure what his deal is but i talked to him again since last time he passed out and it looked like hed finally got back up. he had new post-game fourth wall breaking dialogue and he gave me a book that acted a lot like the terminal in vault city, it gave me a shitton of xp AND levelled all my skills to 300%, which is the highest they can go. holy shit?? im just. as op as possible now. nothing can stop me.
- so with my newfound opness i decided to start working for whichever of the new reno families seemed the least shitty. the wrights are by far the easiest to talk to; the bishops are practically impossible to communicate with in any meaningful way, the salvatores arent bad but sure do have twitchy trigger fingers, and the mordinos seem sketchy as hell in general and are the ones already mostly in charge. the wrights wanted me to investigate the murder of one of the familys sons and it turns out one of the other families poisoned him. then they sent me to the sierra army depot to look for weapons, presuming there might be a fight with the other families. the wrights seem nice enough, all they really want to do is protect their family, not necessarily fuck everyone else over so. alright. and i really wanted to get to the sierra army depot one way or the other
- it ended up being even cooler than i expected. its surrounded by turrets which didnt stand a chance now that im op as hell, and the doors are super sealed shut so i got to fire a massive howitzer gun at it to blast them open. i felt really cool
- inside are lots of robots but again, 300% science skills means hacking everything without problem. this place has a LOT of amazing loot. most of it is useless to me now but i did pick up a lot of stimpacks and other drugs that are valuable and weightless so why not. i also found a cookie. doesnt seem to have use but hey, i have a cookie now.
- turns out an ai here wants to get out and see the world, and tasked me with making a robobrain body for it. this involved finding biogel and looting other robobrain corpses and such for parts. also there are terminals where you can literally harvest a variety of brains and other organs. i know robobrains and other splicing was being done at big mt. but it looks like a lot of that stuff was happening here, too. ive got a human brain in my inventory now, as well as an eyeball that i can use to give me retinal scan access. im not sure why the eye is just. there. actually. ALSO there are holodisks you can pop into your pip boy to learn about some old world shit and it was actually fascinating. it was all great but as a canadian and a lore gremlin, this was my fav part
there is SO MUCH going on here. so much. god. all the info in these disks was incredible. the entire location was really fucking interesting and i loved searching and reading everything. i saw something about like. viruses/plagues and stuff on one of the terminals but i couldnt see everything before it shut down, im gonna have to reload a save or just. keep it in mind for future playthroughs i guess. amazing
- but back to the ai thing. i assembled âskynetâ a robobrain body and was able to recruit them. unfortunately i already had a full party, so theyre still chilling there. eventually ill need to drop off a couple companions at vault 13 or something and grab not only skynet but dogmeat, who is still at the cafe of broken dreams on my map, just waiting for me to return.
- so when i went back to the wrights, they said i was now part of the family and i got to take a name with them just like i did when i became a boxer. there were a lot of really good and funny names available, but since i tend to prefer long range weapons and stealthy combat, heres what i went with
- id had a quest for the salvatores but didnt finish it before becoming part of the wright family and now when i go back to them, theyre pissed and attack me haha WELL ALRIGHT i guess that makes sense but i think that also means im pretty much done with new reno already. i suppose if youre methodical about it, you could work for all the families until the end of each branch, like you can do with the factions of new vegas until you piss them off too much by working with others etc but i did not plan anything going in. its cool though, i like the wights well enough. theyre the only family that didnt outright threaten me or something so its all good. too bad i dont get to see how this would change the slideshow card for new reno in this playthrough. next time, though
- and thats it for real now!! as far as i can tell, ive done everything still available to me unless its something bad karmaish that im not interested in doing in this particular playthrough
- another random thing: since i did a lot of driving around the map just because, a fair bit of time has passed in-game and my age went up. the game actually kept track of how much time has passed and acknowledged my birthday. thats actually SO GREAT
if you read all of this, thats p incredible. this is long as hell. thx ily
that was really a wild ride and i loved it. its so much bigger than fo1, such an enormous expansion, both in gameplay and in lore. the world really does develop massively between both games, and i found the tone shift to be very interesting. the first game, in my opinion, is definitely post-apocalyptic, as the name calls it, and even dystopian. its very dark and creepy feeling, and the music really backs that up. some of the music tracks are creepy as HELL (âthe vault of the futureâ always creeps me out, especially when it plays in vault 22 in nv god and âcity of the deadâ really does make you feel the way the title suggests). the first game nails a desolate wasteland atmosphere incredibly well.Â
the second game, though, is what id call post-post-apocalyptic. there are a lot more proper settlements with a lot more people to talk to and do quests for. in the first game, shady sands is smaller than modoc, the tiny farming village. in fo2, ncr territory is massive and incredibly well off, with vegetation and force fields as security and shit. people are making it work, in fo2. but the further we get from the old world, the more things change, too. tribal culture is a thing. many mutants of the wasteland have settled down well, now that theyre away from the influence of the master. post-war chems have been invented. slavery is a new problem. people have been able to survive well enough that theyve gone back to age old ways of being shit to each other. people do things not to survive but for profit or fame or just because they want to. you, the player, can have sex on multiple occasions in multiple ways for multiple reasons. the world is full of so much again! the first game is about survival and power struggles and adapting to a new status quo. the second game is about living, and about people. theyre both remarkable in their own ways and do such a good job setting a tone both times. honestly, i dont think i can say, at this point, which i liked better because they were both the best at being what they are. maybe after time and more playthroughs ill settle into a favourite but for now all i can say is both of them were so solid in unique ways.
gameplay-wise i definitely found fo2 more challenging, though once i upgraded to advanced power armour and a gauss rifle it felt like i was at the top of the food chain. something i love about fallout games is you usually start out so squishy and end up godlike, which makes you feel like you progressed as a character while progressing through the story and get to constantly do more and more awesome, badass shit. they also improved some mechanics with the companions that made life a lot easier which was great. my only complaint is that there isnt a single female companion. at best you can argue that certain characters dont have a gender (k-9, skynet, technically marcus as a super mutant but really all the mutants get gender coded anyway, i dont recall there being a mutant who wasnt blatantly male or female aligned, so,,) but pretty much katja is the only female companion across both games. but i suppose ill let it slide bc in new vegas they give us an incredibly diverse selection including both a gay man and a lesbian so alright alright. they improved majorly.
anyway. i already want to replay both games lmao. since i did character creation mostly based on what would make life easy and a more blank slate in terms of personality since i like to go into first playthroughs just doing whatever i feel like at any given time, i might like to actually craft a specific kind of character and do some more serious roleplaying. nice
thanks for reading.... again... since i failed to stop talking after the first time i said it. [finger guns]

ACT OMEGA PART 11
THEÂ 27/10/16 UPDATE
ABOUT DAMN TIME I GOT TO HERE AINT IT! Geez, I need to hurry up and get caught up to that new update so I have a good excuse for being lazy. ANyways, this should be the Calliope and Jane interaction. Also, am I the only one who thinks most people pronounce calliope weird? its always like, Call-e-ope-e or cal-i-ope, but I think itâs just Call-e-ope. I dunno, whatta you folks think?
blep
CALLIOPE: (oh!) CALLIOPE: (Um, hello again jane. ^u^)
Dammit sheâs adorable.
JANE: (Iâm sorry, am I interrupting anything?) JANE: (You seemed to be taking a pretty engrossed gander at that house door thing.) CALLIOPE: (oh no i was jUst admiring it. nothing important.) CALLIOPE: (although... i was doing a little thinking as well.) JANE: (Really? What about?) JANE: (If you donât mind sharing, that is.) CALLIOPE: (not at all!) CALLIOPE: (well, the main sUbject of my thoUghts has jUst been shock for how i am even here for this moment.) CALLIOPE: (after it became clear that i was never meant to even play the game session i was a part of, despite my foolish hopes...) CALLIOPE: (i was certain that the Ultimate reward was forever oUtside my grasp.) CALLIOPE: (and yet, here i am!) CALLIOPE: (it almost feels like iâm cheating.) CALLIOPE: (i have hardly done anything deserving of any reward, let alone the Ultimate one. u-u;)
Aw, donât be like that Calliope! You may not have played much of an active role in the story, but  that doesnât mean you werenât 100% necessary! Honestly, where would the Alpha Kids be without you? I think youâve earned this by enduring the bullshit youâre brother has put you through, and doing what was best for the completion of the game, and survival of your friends.
JANE: (That name really is a bit misleading, isnât it?) JANE: (It seems so... grandiose.) JANE: (Iâm not sure if Iâm all that fond of it.) CALLIOPE: (really?) JANE: (Mhm.) JANE: (Especially considering, well...) JANE: (My behavior today hasnât exactly been worthy of accolades either.) JANE: (In fact I think I may have done more harm than good for the majority of my session!) JANE: (Or maybe even further back than that!!) JANE: (I donât mean to be insensitive when I say this, Callie, but...) JANE: (Throughout this entire mess, at least you have been innocent of any real wrongdoing.) JANE: (Which is more than can be said for me.)
AWGH, dont be like that JANE..... ALl these sad girls need to stop worrying about WORTH n shit. You all played your role dammit.Â
CALLIOPE: (oh...) CALLIOPE: (yoUâre referring to the things yoU mentioned in yoUr story?) JANE: (I killed my best friend.) JANE: (And out of such petty jealousy!) JANE: (I might be able to foist blame upon the Batterwitch, for manipulating me into hurting my friends.) JANE: (But she was only able to do that because they were already inclinations I had, deep down!) JANE: (Couldnât I have resisted more?) JANE: (What does that say about me?)
JANEY
SHUt UR MOUTH
iT says youre a human with human emotions.Â
CALLIOPE: (but roxy is here! sheâs fine!)
DAYum  RIGHT roxy is fiiiiiine
CALLIOPE: (she may be a slightly different version of roxy than the one yoU knew, bUt certainly that is better than losing her forever, isnât it?) CALLIOPE: (living in a world withoUt roxy in it...) CALLIOPE: (that woUld sUrely be a terrible fate!)
Yes it would. Because youUUU LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE HEEEEERRRR
JANE: (Oh certainly!) JANE: (You have no idea how relieved I am that despite my horrific deeds, I still have the people that matter most to me in my life.) JANE: (Including my dad!!) JANE: (Iâve missed him so much.) JANE: (Iâm almost afraid to ask if he knows about what I did...) JANE: (And if not, would I ever be able to tell him?) JANE: (Heâd be so ashamed of me.)
Pretty sure his only emotion is proud. BUT COME ON JANE, youre worrying about the wrong shit. these people, im tellin ya. they never wanna let go of the paST.
CALLIOPE: (jane, i am not very familiar with the concepts of fathers and families.) CALLIOPE: (these are very hUman things which, despite my preoccUpations, are still qUite foreign. u-u;) CALLIOPE: (bUt i think i may be learning slowly by seeing how all of yoU are immediately drawn to each other.) CALLIOPE: (and from what i have learned, i donât think yoU need to worry, jane.) CALLIOPE: (we are all just glad that yoU are here, i am certain of it!) JANE: (... Thank you, Callie.) JANE: (The same goes for you, you know!) CALLIOPE: (oh yes! I really am qUite happy to be here and not dead!) CALLIOPE: (i jUst wish that i coUld have been a little more UsefUl...) CALLIOPE: (perhaps if i had managed to contribUte at least a little more, i woUld not feel qUite so oUt of place.) JANE: (Itâs alright to feel a tad ill at ease.) JANE: (Nobody expects you to be immediately hunky dory with all of this buddy chummy hullabaloo.)
Hah. No comment, other than that I love this line. This interaction  is sweet.
JANE: (In fact Iâm certain not even all us humans are on the same page.) JANE: (So your discomfort, in a way, is a very good indication that you fit right in.)
no kidding. Is there anybody here who feels comfortable? Maybe Rose and Jade.Â
CALLIOPE: (thank yoU jane. that sentiment really means a lot. ^u^) CALLIOPE: (bUt i mUst admit that it is a little odd to think of myself in sUch a way.) CALLIOPE: (i have always been an oUtsider looking in. never trUly part of anything larger than myself.) CALLIOPE: (thinking aboUt parents and siblings, well.) CALLIOPE: (my only experience with anything of the sort was my brother.)
OH, that actually reminds me of the lil fucker. Where IS caliborn? he defeated his denizen and did a thing with the clock. SOoo, whatâs his gameplan now?
JANE: (Oh, yeah. THAT jerk.) JANE: (Do you really need to think about him any more, Callie?) JANE: (I know I will be perfectly happy to never deal with him and his sordid affairs ever again!!) CALLIOPE: (itâs not a particUlarly happy thing to ponder, no.) CALLIOPE: (bUt nonetheless itâs what i have.) CALLIOPE: (and despite how awfUl it may have been, i think it warrants reflection.) CALLIOPE: (there is something aboUt oUr shared experience growing Up that makes me feel... connected to him, still.) CALLIOPE: (i wonder if maybe that connection is at all what family is like.)
I think that connection is what sharing a body for most of your life is like. Thouuugh... They hated each other, sure. But they probably relied on each other for everything as well. So perhaps that could build up a sort of familial attachment.
JANE: (I donât really know, Calliope. Iâm hardly an expert on the subject.) JANE: (But from what I understand, family is really quite a multifaceted thing.) JANE: (And the sort of connection youâre describing could certainly be part of it, I think.) JANE: (Some might say you cannot choose your family, and that they are an important part of who you are no matter what.) JANE: (For better or for worse.)
I mean, I agree with that to some extent. But really it depends on what kinda âfamilyâ youâre talking about. Blood, or bonds.
CALLIOPE: (hmmm...)
Ooh, thatâs a pretty good panel. Also, his godtier makes me think....... Itâs kinda funny how sburb identified calliope and caliborn as two seperate entities, giving them two different godtiers. would it have been like that even if neither have them had taken control?? Bluh, im sure it wont matter.
CALLIOPE: (that may be trUe.) CALLIOPE: (however...) CALLIOPE: (i do feel like whatever relationship we had was not trUly any sort of familial bond.) CALLIOPE: (at least not like anything i have seen thUs far in hUmans.) CALLIOPE: (we called each other siblings oUt of convenience, bUt in reality, we were competitors in a game larger than even that which spawns Universes.) CALLIOPE: (technically, i was the loser in the race to predominate and participate in oUr session.) CALLIOPE: (but in that yet larger game...) CALLIOPE: (which i think one might call the game of life.)
You mean...Â
obvious joke im sorry.
CALLIOPE: (it seems like i might be the winner.) CALLIOPE: (i think maybe, given that, i am beginning to Understand what my alternate self meant when she told me to "live"...) CALLIOPE: (becaUse we both know my brother well. and it seems there is no version of him that will ever be able to finish his childish games.) CALLIOPE: (he will stay the way he is forever, never able to move on and jUst live. never knowing that sUch a path, which he views with sUch disdain, is likely far more rewarding!)
Yeah, he doesnât seem like one to settle down and have a good olâ time relaxing with friends and family.Â
:D
JANE: (Callie, thatâs it!!)
:O
CALLIOPE: (hUh??)
JANE: (Thatâs why itâs called the ultimate reward!) JANE: (We donât have to play this drab old game anymore.) JANE: (This is our ticket to move on to the much bigger adventure awaiting us.) JANE: (Letting go of the past and learning from it...) JANE: (Puzzling out what it means to have a family.) JANE: (All of that. Living life to the fullest.) JANE: (Thatâs the ultimate reward!)
You know, that does seem likely. THATâS probably definitely it. I mean, itâs fitting. the whole GOAL is to get out of this fucking game and live a new life mature in your new universe.
CALLIOPE: (i think yoUâre right, jane!) CALLIOPE: (we jUst stUmbled Upon that realization qUite accidentally, didnât we?) JANE: (Actually, Callie. I think it might be because you are just that clever and insightful.) CALLIOPE: (oh, shUcks... u^u;) JANE: (You are definitely a winner in my book. And Iâm glad you might be a winner in yours, too.) CALLIOPE: (i am certainly getting there.) CALLIOPE: (maybe someday soon i will be able to more fUlly come to terms with all this.) CALLIOPE: (bUt... thereâs no rUsh, right?) CALLIOPE: (so long as we are looking forward, instead of back.) JANE: (Thatâs the ticket!) JANE: (Cheers, to winning!) CALLIOPE: (to winning! ^u^)
Daw, you two. Well, it seems like they had a positive resolution! Theyâve discovered what the ultimate reward is! And Callies gona get all good at accepting herself as a big WINNER. HOOray! Im guessing theyâll be moving onto the next pair now, which should be Karkat and Dave.
Yup, character select screen. TO THE DAVEKAT GAYS!
Karkatâs anxious, Daveâs like come on man we fuckin won dont be anxious.Â
DAVE: (dude) DAVE: (relax)
KNew it.
DAVE: (i can practically hear you thinking yourself into another shitfit) DAVE: (john looks about ready to twist the shit out of that magic doorknob) DAVE: (i thought youd be relieved or something) KARKAT: (I CANâT HELP IT.) KARKAT: (IâM NERVOUS, OK?) KARKAT: (LAST TIME I WAS IN THIS POSITION, IT DIDNâT TURN OUT SO WELL.)
OH what could you mean by that? it wasnt so bad. A devil dog appeared slaughtered the fuck out of a door, traveled across your world and destroyed your planets, then murdered all of your dream selves.
KARKAT: (AND I CANâT HELP BUT FEEL LIKE WEâRE FORGETTING SOMETHING IMPORTANT.) KARKAT: (MAYBE SEVERAL SOMETHINGS.) KARKAT: (LIKE...) KARKAT: (WHERE THE FUCK IS GAMZEE?) KARKAT: (VRISKA JUST SHOVED HIM IN THAT HUNGER TRUNK WHEN SHE REALIZED WE WERE ABOUT TO SHOW UP, AND THEN KEPT HIM THERE SO HE WOULDNâT "CAUSE TROUBLEâ.) KARKAT: (BUT I GUESS HE JUST WENT ON AN INTERPLANETARY ADVENTURE! WHERE COULD HE BE? HAS HE BROKEN OUT YET? WHO THE FUCK KNOWS!)
NOpe, heâs still very much trapped in the fridge.Â
DAVE: (yeah that is uh) DAVE: (actually kind of concerning) KARKAT: (YOU THINK?!) KARKAT: (AND WHAT ABOUT THE MAYOR? AND THE SPRITES, WHERE DID THEY FUCK OFF TO?) DAVE: (look man well figure it out alright) DAVE: (were not just gonna up and leave without everyone accounted for) DAVE: (like seriously how could we ever abandon the mayor) DAVE: (were going back for him thats not even up for debate) KARKAT: (THANK GOD AT LEAST SOMEONE AROUND HERE HAS THEIR PRIORITIES STRAIGHT.)
FInally, some people who are worrying about the RIGHT things. I mean, jeeez. all these people worrying about their pasts and worth, when they need to be prepared to face a more dangerous threat if one comes. ANYWAys

The world has officially gone mad. The president is calling protesters âSons of B*tchesâ (Seriously, why does he have time to wage twitter and press conference wars in the middle of natural disasters and looming war?), and the NFL is reneging on their dislike for sideline protests and politicking to stand in solidarity of players. âWe support the vets when itâs convenient in silencing othersâ twitter is up in arms. But honestly, I am not too sure what they are so up in arms about. Disrespecting veterans? The US Government does this everyday and none of the key board warriors type vigorously away about it. The flag? It is a piece of cloth. Not a single solider died for a mass produced cloth you buy printed on your napkins in July. The anthem? Written by a slave holder in 1812, and not the anthem until 1931 in a move started by neo-confederates.
But anyway, if you are mad for some reason: I want to remind you that freedom of speech exists. And a president is legally not supposed to interfere with private sector employment.  Moreover, I need you guys to consider Martin Luther Kingâs final speech before you accuse the NFL players of being disrespectful to the flag. In this speech you will find exactly what they are fighting for. Why Kaepernick took a knee in the first place. It is called âI have been to the mountain topâ and can be found here (http://www.americanrhetoric.com/âŚ/mlkivebeentothemountaintoâŚ).Itâs the speech you donât indoctrinate children with in school, because itâs not rainbows and sunshine. Itâs real. It is honest. Itâs the MLK you choose to ignore and sweep under the rug.  In this speech, MLK told us: âAll we say to America is, âBe true to what you said on paperâ â. That is all we ask.  When Kaepernick first sat he said âI am not going to stand up and show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of colorâ.  What we are saying is what is the point of ârespecting a flagâ that doesnât give what it promises? Black soldiers respected the flag in WWII. You know what they got when they returned home? Told to sit in the back of the bus while the Jewish people they rescued who relocated to the United States got to be in the front. Those men went over there for us to NOT be killed in the streets and cops to get paid leave for it. So until you give us that; stop invoking them. Be true to what the flag promises if you want us to respect it. I know it is upsetting; but so is being murdered in the streets and not receiving justice. WE are asking America to live up to itâs constitution. Just as MLK did. If YOU can fight for the second amendment âright to bear armsâ WE can fight for the 14th amendment that states: â nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of lawâ. Murdering back men is taking away life without due process of law. Pointing out that we, as a country are not honoring the flag, and therefore we should not bow to it, is not âdivisiveâ, it is patriotism and itâs peak. We ARE standing up for the constitution and the rights the flag promises; you want us to accept the negating of constitutional rights based on color of skin. But supposedly you are the patriot. The same person waving the flag of a group of people who were traitors to the United States government wants to question our patriotism. Ask yourself why you are so bent on silencing us instead of actually living up to the constitution? Why you are so focused on a piece of cloth that you refuse to let us have what the flag supposedly represents? MLK and the sit ins were âdivisiveâ and he knew it: âI knew that as they were sitting in, they were really standing up for the best in the American dream, and taking the whole nation back to those great wells of democracy which were dug deep by the Founding Fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.â Even in 1968 King understood that by sitting, we could stand for a greater good.
Now, there ARE people who will say none of what I said matters: politics just donât belong in sports (Stupid because the US Government itself paid the NFL to do the whole anthem thing anyway as means of military propaganda). I was told on social media today that football players should play and not think. Which, honestly was flooring and well⌠racist. The idea that black men should just shuck and jive for white amusement and be incapable of thinking any other time is honestly ridiculous. The idea that entertainers are only there to agree with you and be silent when you want them to is peak entitlement and honestly ridiculous. This is coming from a generation that was raised during the infamous 1968 black power salute, a generation raised when Sidney Portier and Harry Belefonte regularly used their entertainment platforms to speak social justice. I wonder to myself why it was okay then and not now. And then I remember. It wasnât okay then. Bernice King spoke out Saturday to say: âPeople didnât approve of the way my father protested injustice either; said he was causing trouble, called him an âoutside agitator.âRemember, those people were on the wrong side of history. But yet, the same people complaining then, bore children who complain now. Children who believe black men are there for their amusement and not to have brains. Children who think black men are so inferior, they should not share opinions and should be grateful to throw a ball. They have even gone as far as to use Martin Luther King for their own amusement. Cherry-picking his words, twisting his legacy, and invoking him at will to condemn people he would actually stand with. Bernice gets it. âMany who quote #MLK today, and use his words out of context to deter nonviolent protest, would have hated him openly thenâ. You hated equality then, you hate it now. And you are misusing a man you would have (and potentially did) spat on back then and we all know it.  Itâs annoying. Itâs nasty. Itâs the ACTUAL thing that is disrespectful. And the reason we know racism wonât just âdie outâ.
Kaep is not âdivisiveâ, Curry is not âdivisiveâ;  racists are. Cops who kill black boys without impunity or conscious are. George Zimmerman is. Dylan Roof is. Naziâs who march in the streets are. Your granny that speaks about âthe blacksâ at Thanksgiving dinner is. Consider handling them and not the people who rightfully believe they are problematic. Newsflash: there can be no âracial harmonyâ until there is actual equality. The idea that blacks should be passive in the name of âharmonyâ while they are being murdered in the streets and not receiving justice is⌠odd. Where white Americans concerned with âharmonyâ with the British when they wanted freedom? Absolutely not. So why ask us to âharmonizeâ at the expense of our lives? Even Mandela wasnât concerned with âharmonyâ without equality and wasnât afraid to rock the boat. MLKâs whole plan was to rock the boat to bring attention. Bloody Sunday wasnât âharmonyâ and he knew it would not bring harmony. It got people mad enough to get violent with peaceful demonstrators. And made those people look like terrible folks. He pressed the issue, no matter who it upset. And admitted so. âNow weâre going to march again, and weâve got to march again, in order to put the issue where it is supposed to be â and force everybody to see that there are thirteen hundred of Godâs children here sufferingâ. His whole point was to force the issue no matter how much it upset people. That was in no way harmony. As Bernice King spoke out Saturday: âNo form of protest, even nonviolent direct action, will be approved by people âmore dedicated to order than to justiceâ or by the unjustâ. We are not here for your approval. We know we wonât get it. It is not that we donât WANT harmony; it is that we refuse to disadvantage ourselves for it. And we shouldnât have to. This IS America after all is it not?
And I know, your next move will be âGO BACK TO AFRICA IF YOU HATE IT HERE SO BAD!â Nope. Iâm here. And Iâm going to make it better. Kaep is here. And going to fight until itâs better. Mad about it? You can leave. Â (Plus, itâs kind of dumb to bring people to a country and then insist they leave. Donât like our presence, please take it up with your ancestors. Visit their graves and gripe about it. Their fault. Not ours.) Â As MLK said âIf I lived in China or even Russia, or any totalitarian country, maybe I could understand some of these illegal injunctions. Maybe I could understand the denial of certain basic First Amendment privileges, because they hadnât committed themselves to that over there. But somewhere I read of the freedom of assembly. Somewhere I read of the freedom of speech. Somewhere I read of the freedom of press. Somewhere I read that the greatness of America is the right to protest for right. And so just as I say, we arenât going to let dogs or water hoses turn us around, we arenât going to let any injunction turn us around. We are going onâ. If we WERE in North Korea, maybe weâd understand the unarmed and unjust killings. But weâre not. Weâre in America. And America is supposedly greater.
