I'm going to start with the positives and then work my way to the negatives.

Positives:

Bo-Katan wasn't fridged and this time maybe Bo can lead Mandalore and Mandalore doesn't get eradicated before the Sequel Trilogy or blown-up.

I am kind of glad the Dark Saber's gone 'cause ever since that duel with Maul the darksaber being passed around has really screwed Mandalore over.

Also to quote Monty Python: "Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony."

Like, yeah Duchess Satine became ruler, she also had a consensus from her people.

3. It was a fun Fury Road type ending with Bo getting Mandalore back and then Din off traveling with Grogu having done his part.

Now for my bugbears:

They didn't mention Satine at all. And kind of found a way to disparage her, as if Satine didn't give Mandalore the planet space and time to heal. Does Favreau have an issue with Satine? Is he like his character Pre Vizsla really not into the idea of Satine and what she represented???

2. We sure didn't see Din's face. What's the point of hiring Pedro Pascal if we can't see Pedro Pascal??? Did filming Last of Us really impact the filming of Mandalorians that much???

3. This episode nerfed the red dudes pretty hard, like I was always lukewarm to them as a concept but to be nerfed like that. The war also was not great, directing wise.

4. Another directing / cinematography vibe. Mistaking blur and out of focus for a big war.

It didn't help I already have an idea what siege of Mandalore looked like. Its not fair to compare but I can't help what's already in my head.

The director didn't help his Mandalorian vs Imperial Super commandos were all done mid-air. It was hard to follow the fight, I didn't have anything to latch on to.

In a similar event where Bo and her forces have to re-take Mandalore, it helped that the action slowed down and let us see a clearer picture before returning to action.

This episode was messy and jumped around and I'm just... its really hard not to compare the Mando series to the animated series. One thing the animated had was length of time, so that might be unfair but also they told a story in 25 minute chunks.

It was all just so rushed.

Favreau's main writing flaw I've found is how he rushes things and wants to resolve a cliffhanger so fast the tension from the previous episode is basically gone.

You know. Something I really hate about a lot of popular fantasy books, and it's especially prevalent in Romantasy, is what passes for Feminism in them. It's a toothless fake, used as an aesthetic/seasoning. A sprinkle of *strong female character* and a dash of deceptively misogynistic everything else, and for the finishing touch a pinch of man who's slightly better than being openly sexist and Boom. Fantasy series led by a FMC.

Generally, the Female Main character either starts out or becomes incredibly powerful, but always, always, always her power is linked to the men around her. She supposedly has agency and makes her own choices but the choices she makes are between choices provided to her by men. Her male love interest is more powerful in SOME way, and ends up besting her in some way. Experience, training, power, there's always some way the man is better than her. Female characters are never allowed to just BE powerful. Or even just BE single. Often they give up their powers, or are forcibly stripped of them. They look down on other female characters for doing "feminine" work. And, they're stupid as hell to supposedly make them relatable or endearing. Often, the male mc is concerningly abusive but it's portrayed as dreamy, romantic and Ideal. (I genuinely get the love for villains, and enemies to not, and the love for morally grey characters, I genuinely do, but this isn't that, what happens in these books is just genuinely bad (if they actually were people) being portrayed through rose colored glasses) [And in some stories that could be genuinely interesting!] If there's a second Love Interest, he will just do the same awful shit to the MC but it's better now bc it's him.

If the female character isn't white, all of this + a staggering amount of racism. They're rarely MCs. They're fridged for the MCs, they serve the MCs, they're never as beautiful or powerful as the MC, they're stereotyped and portrayed as savage, vapid, comically evil, or just as a good guy with no character at all.

These books are presented as feminist and it pisses me off. Feminism is equality for all, and the fight for Women to be equal and have their own agency. To make their own decisions. Genuinely I believe writers should be able to write whatever they want. I have no issues with having "problematic" stuff in books. My issue is when people start to believe that this shit is feminist, and the author is so skilled and amazing, and it's a masterpiece! Fuck that.

Nobody even mentioned it so I almost totally missed out on how Saavik and the son she had with Spock are (live action) in the Unification short; and how one of the stated inspirations is Vulcan's Heart, in which Spock and Saavik get married (Picard attending) while working together toward the Vulcan reunification with Romulus.

Here is JayTim, I can't believe I only got one bingo for them. Ironically I genuinely don't view Jason and Tim as family, even when I'm not shipping them, I think they're tentative allies at best and you can only brother-ify them if you're doing very generously OOC fluff, a la WFA-style. They're absolutely toxic and codependent on each other's existence, Tim wouldn't exist without Jason and Jason is Undeniably Weird about Tim, but not brothers so I can't check off the familial squares. Also, I have no idea if I've been blocked by 10+ people, but it'd be funny if I am. And funnily enough, I don't think Tim or Jason are vanilla in any capacity even when they're not fucking. Especially not Tim, that boy is Certified Weird.

and ofc BruDick I nearly blacked out the whole board because they absolutely are weird and unwell. Some of these only apply to certain AUs of BruDick (like an idea I have rattling in my skull rn with Talon!Dick) but most of it applies to them all the time. I really need to write some fucked up BruDick, it's tragic I haven't yet. Right now the two fics I'm working on are a weird JayDick and a more fluffy DamiDick, but I have Plans™ for BruDick too. They are the OG and deserve their flowers for being the most toxic mess you've ever seen.

Like, as soon as I think "hey I'm warming up to the name Ralph for Phone Guy". I remember that's THE CANON NAME for the character and I go into an unquienchable rage!

Like with Vanny, I didn't LIKE what canon did with the character but I could live with it because like, the fanon versions lasted only 1-2 years at most. Plus with the leaks, we practically KNEW that Vanessa and Vanny were the same person, like it was obvious.

But 10 YEARS! Sine the begginning. Without ANY REAL WARNING!? NOW YOU FINALLY GIVE US CANON MATERIAL? Bogus man!

This is the last time I'm going to talk about this, I don't like perpetuating the stereotype of Autistic people not being able to change, but these are my feelings.

I’ve got some fanart pieces coming in the mail (presumably, tho I’m starting to question them not showing up in the tracking) that I’ll be sharing once they arrive.

I’d also love to have something in the style of Alvar Gullichsen’s works in my walls - or tbh I could just paint a whole wall in something similar. I saw an exhibition of his at some point and would’ve loved to buy a print, but alas, they didn’t have any interesting ones.

Anything involving children as the happily ever after in a reader insert tends to just put me off (for personal reasons).

Also super convoluted misunderstandings where they just keep on just missing the crucial part of what someone said and it just goes on and on. Just, not my thing when it goes on beyond belief (as you can imagine, I have a great time with sitcoms 🙃). Like, of course it can be done well, but sometimes it just feels like it's stretched too far. And there’s other ways to have misunderstandings and drama between characters without just relying on characters for some reason not saying what would be quite obvious to express.

I'm also not very fond of workplace settings / AUs or certain kinds of power imbalances (like boss/employee or teacher/student, like I totally get that it has appeal but it's just not for me).

Oh look I’m only a tiny bit late to it this week! Crazy. Wild. I’m trying to distract myself from my La Pluie impatience. I also have a date later. Everyone pray for me. Let’s go:

-Why in The fuck is it starting with singing. Didn’t I suffer enough last week? Stop this. Fast forward is my friend. 

-I wish I cared about this kiss. I just don’t. Poor Pisaeng. 

-Kawi asking Pisaeng if he told anyone about him is actually disgusting. Pisaeng baby you deserve better. Kawi is such an ass. Giving him a chance to “fix” his future didn’t make him a better person. It just gave him more opportunities to be a selfish asshole. 

-Good for Pisaeng. Do what’s best for you and leave Kawi. Get the space you so desperately need. Go live your best gay life. 

-“Same rights as those normal people” NORMAL PEOPLE? SINCE WHEN ARE GAY PEOPLE NOT NORMAL PEOPLE? Also I got bad news about the “same rights” cause they aren’t. It might be a different fight but it’s still a fight. 

-I’m still getting unrequited crush on his straight friend vibes from Pisaeng and Kawi. Like I see best friends with an irreconcilable issue. They can’t be friends until Pisaeng is over his crush on Kawi but Kawi can’t let his best friend go because he needs so much emotional support in his life in order to function. 

-This just feels like Kawi dating Pisaeng so he doesn’t lose him not because he likes him. He basically said that in his “confession.”

-I genuinely don’t remember the previous episodes but is this the first time we’ve seen Pisaeng eat with Kawi? He constantly buys Kawi food but has he ever eaten too?

PSA ! Because I've seen it be brought up in YouTube videos, in the comments section on Itch, and in quite a few asks on Tumblr... Here are some common misconceptions about "14 Days With You" that I'd like to clear up!

14 Days With You is not an otome game; it's an amare game!! The main character (Angel) is not a female heroine/female protagonist, and they're not written to be female-coded. Yes, you have the option to customise your pronouns and how others perceive you, but there is no "default" or fixed narrative perspective for 14DWY (outside of a gender-neutral perspective).

If it isn't already obvious, Ren's characterisation heavily leans into the "dere" aspect of a yandere. He genuinely loves Angel... Just to a terrifying degree.

None of the cast members are heterosexual, so please don't assume that all of Teo's exes/flings were women, that Leon has only had girlfriends in the past, that Olivia is only attracted to good-looking men, etc. In a similar vein, I want to remind everyone that Jae-Hyun is gay and Kiara is a lesbian.

14DWY is also a romance game!! The whole point is to get to know Ren, grow closer with him, and ultimately romance him. So please stop asking me to include BTD, TDDUP, or W1WD mechanics in the game. It's completely fine if you like those types of genres — and I'm not here to yuck anyone's yum — but it's not the vibe I'm going for with 14DWY, and it's not something I want to write about.

Similarly... Violet, Jae, Moth, and Teo all dye their hair as well. But I'm happy if folks want to headcanon that "unnatural" hair colours can exist in the 14DWY universe.

Ren does not have DID or BPD. He's merely a desperate yandere who changes aspects of himself + creates different "personas" to appease Angel (and essentially become their ideal type). He definitely has a pessimistic outlook on his real self, though he does not identify or feel genuine in any of his created personas. I'm comfortable for those who have DID/BPD/etc to headcanon Ren as such, but I heavily discourage everyone else from doing so as I don't want to give them an incorrect or bad reputation.

The 18+ scenes are optional!!!!! The game is intended to be played without them — it's even turned off by default. Nobody is forced to sleep with Ren.

14 Days With You is a passion project that I work on in my free time for fun. I'm not making a profit off of it, I'm not looking to turn it into a career, and in the most /pos way possible; it's not important enough for me to make a priority. So... Please stop guilt-tripping me for updates when I already don't have enough time or luxury to work on it ;v;
