A new blog. Lol. I've been RPing for a while and people seem to love you so I don't wanna screw up another character page.
Tumblr media
Okay, well to start I mean, since you’ve been rping before I’m not gonna bore you with the details of setting up an account but some tips I think I can give a few of those out, though, again, I don’t know how many people really like me, lmao, but thank you for that suggestion I hope people do. buT anyways here we go.
TIPS FOR RUNNING A COOL-ISH BLOG, BY A COOL-ISH BLOG OWNER.
1. Be open to writing with people you wouldn’t normally write with.
Like that saying ‘ten second of courage could change your life’ but, it could change ur, like rp life too ( or real life if u become friends with the mun, who knows! ) but anyways, basically, when you reply to people you might not normally reply to it can be fun! So do that as often as you can cause one, its fun & two, it helps you find new people to write with. Not every new thread will work; some will fall out but don’t let that get you down! Not all friendships work either, you just gotta find the right fit with ur muse & writing & stuff
2. Set up your page how you want, but if all fails use simplicity.
I don’t know if I follow this cause my blog for Lila is kinda ‘aesthetic’ or whatever, but I use it for my Multi. If you’re wary of using photoshop/don’t know how I’d go with a theme that’s simple, you could probably find one at dear-indies in their reblogged themes. There are really nice, simple to use ones that don’t require backgrounds or anything, they’re cute & I’m pretty sure they’re coming back ‘in style’ or whatever. They’re good to use and are usually easy to navigate so people can get to things easily which ( at least for me ) makes things better & I usually find things that are easier to navigate more interesting just ‘cause I get distracted easily.
3. Respect peoples rules / Respect people.
If you’re following someone, read their rules, or, if you’re like me, read them & then when u finally get the courage to ask them to write reread them so you don’t get them confused with some else’s. This is easy for me.
Also, just give people respect as well, sometimes muns can’t get to replies quickly, don’t see your reply or your IM message ( or forget it like i frequently do ) sometimes they mess up on things, sometimes their real lives are just too busy or hectic, if they need space then give them that & just try to respect everyone’s boundaries & things of that sort.
4. Be Nice™ to people.
I feel like this sounds simple but a lot of times the reason people want to leave the RP or people aren’t as attracted to it is because some people are not nice on here ( not saying you’re not nice, ‘cause you probably are, so pls don’t take it that way omg ) but it just generally makes being on here seem like a hassle or stressful and RP/Writing is supposed to be a getaway to relax & have fun. My tip for being nice is really simple, just be nice hear people out when they wanna do a thread, write with someone you might not have, send small ‘hello’s’& ‘hope your having a good days’ to people & just try to make people feel welcome & stuff on your blog..
I try to do this and I guess it works? I just like seeing people HAPPY, and i dunno, that’s apart of RP for me, maybe it’s not for you and I guess that’s chill but you did ask for my tips so omg- im getting of topic sorry !!!! BUT that’s what writing is for me to be honest, like yes there is angst & i do that a lot, but at the end of the day you’re there for the moments in writing where it makes you feel good and happy inside and that’s what I try to bring to everything y’know?
Does this mean let people step on you? Does this mean not tell people when somethings bothering you? NAH. This brings me to my next tip
5. Be Honest.
Be honestly honest, tell people how you feel. Things can get wholly lost in translation when you’re trying to communicate things online or over text & stuff so if you’re uncomfortable with something tell someone if you feel like a thread isn’t going anywhere but you wanna start a new one tell the other mun, if you’re busy and can’t get to things then just PSA it & say you can’t get to stuff ATM, if you think someones using you confront them this is easier said than done but I think it’s the BEST way to go in situations. You can be honest without sounding bitter or pissy, trust me. Just be like ‘hey I love our characters but I don’t think I can write this thread anymore ‘cause it’s not working for me’ or ‘hey i cant get to this now, but its on the list.’
Be honest, be respectful, be nice & just like have fun. RP isn’t about how many followers you have, it’s not about if you fit the current aesthetic, it’s not even about if people like you, honestly, I mean I guess that’s a plus and it’s always everyone’s goal to be liked y’know? But not everyone will like you & that’s just a truth. But that’s OKAY. Being liked by everyone isn’t the goal. It’s about telling stories & escaping from reality for a little while ( or finding more reality in new situations, through writing ) but I dunno, this got really long but I hope this helped a little
