They're at an event; him, Tony, and some of the other interns. Some grand conference. Peter didn't really read the invitation, he just goes when Tony asks.

He can't tell what exactly it is, but ever since he stepped in, his whole stomach rocked with anxiety. He places his bets on the people. The place is packed, crowded wall to wall with bodies, every step he takes has him brushing shoulders with someone else. He consciously makes an effort to press closer to Tony as they enter the threshold.

"You good?" Tony asks under his breath.

Peter nods, his mouth pressed in a tight line. His heart is racing in his chest, so he takes a breath. This was the uncomfortable part of being Spider-Man— the stuff Peter Parker has to deal with in his stead. The baseless anxiety. Annoying.

And he spends the next twenty minutes trying really hard to get over it, the needless lack of breath, the way his skin was buzzing, his head felt fuzzy. Not good.

People keep bumping into him, and his stomach is starting to turn, and his ears are doing the thing they do when there's so much sound that it starts layering in weird ways—

Peter's half-listening to Tony talk about the principles of glass to a scientist, a really nice one works that works in one of the lower levels, when it just becomes unbearable. The panic is revving up faster than he can control it. He discreetly nudges Tony's shoulder and tries not to cringe at the touch.

Tony looks over immediately and ducks his head toward him. His eyebrows crease in concern as he scans over him rapidly. Always assessing for the problem, and then like magic—

"Let's take a break," Tony says decisively. He hovers a hand over Peter's shoulder, a silent question. They do this, sometimes, this non-colloquial back-and-forth thing. Peter gives him a slight nod, so Tony drops his hand and gently leads them out of the crowd.

"Outside, or bathroom?"

The nice way of asking, fresh air or a clean place to throw up?

"Bathroom," Peter answers, his voice cracking. His stomach is still turning and twisting itself in knots and he'd rather not take chances.

Tony nods casually. He turns down the hall, pushes the door open and leads them in. He crouches down and scans the floor. "Hey, good news. Nobody's in here, kiddie."

Peter makes an appreciative noise and slides his back down the wall, sitting on the grimy tile floor. Puts his head in his hands and breathes. "This sucks."

"The fourth-rate venue? I agree. This place looks like it needs a crime-scene-level deep-clean."

Peter smiles, and then gets hit with another wave of nausea. He sighs, the temporary humour draining out of him.

Tony sits next to him with a groan, his joints popping uncomfortably. "Sorry, Underoos. I wish there was a cure for all that brain junk we have to put up with, but... well, I don't know. Maybe I'll find something, someday. Add it to my to-do list."

"Mrgh," Peter says helpfully. He tries to calm himself down. Tony's presence is helping. He's got this steadiness to him, unwavering, always. He doesn't seem to ever be afraid, ever, even when Peter's world feels like it's tilting on its axis.

Tony stands up, and Peter feels unsteady again. A boat without an anchor. He wants to open his mouth and ask him to sit back down again— but he can't find the words, and he feels like his stomach will finally betray him if he even tries to part his lips.

Then something happens.

His senses buzz, a wave of sensation ricocheting through his nerves. He jerks up, scrambling his legs to grab Tony, to lurch him back. A panel of the ceiling falls, landing on the floor with a thud and kicking up dust and dirt.

"Well, there you go," Tony says with a tired sigh, kicking the panel with his foot. "Look at that, isn't that nice."

It's weird, because it's really not even that big of a deal. Buildings fall apart, especially old ones. Pieces break and brittle, and that doesn't mean it's the whole building that will come crashing down. He knows that.

He knows that, but somehow, he can't breathe.

No, he can't breathe, and that's not even the worst part— because suddenly he needs to get out of here, because if one panel could come down, then maybe all of them could, and—

"Nearly getting decapitated by a loose—"

"We've gotta go," Peter says, his legs shaking. "We gotta get out of here, seriously. Come on, we have to go."

"Woah, hey. Slow down," Tony holds his hands up. "Kid, take a breath. What's going on?"

"What's going— the building's about to fall apart, it's not safe! A piece of the whole ceiling nearly hit you," Peter rattles off, talking a mile a minute. "I mean, I could have missed it, and you could have hit your head."

"Then I would have hit my head," Tony shrugs. "Not a big deal. It happens. Pretty sure getting thocked upside the head by Dum-E hurts a little more than a... flimsy... plaster board."

Peter shakes his head, and keeps shaking his head. "No, I've— the ceiling isn't sturdy, if it caves in I can't— I can't hold up another building, I'll—"

"Peter," Tony cocks his head, furrowing his eyebrows. "What do you mean another? What are you— alright, it doesn't matter. Let's go outside, get you some air."

Always a good plan from Tony. The older man starts leading him out of the bathroom and out to the fire escape, further down the hallway, and Peter finds himself talking in a panicked flurry the whole way there.

"When we walked in I counted thirty support pillars, and about four exits, five including the fire exit," Peter recites, stumbling down the hall.

"Jesus," Tony mutters. He nudges the door open with his elbow and walks both of them outside. "I'm picking up a lot of things from you right now and I'm not sure I'm liking the picture they're making."

Peter shook his head vehemently. "I don't wanna talk about it. Not now."

Tony sighs, but seems to understand— which is a relief. They don't normally talk about this stuff, and they definitely don't have a habit of asking each other about it. 

It's kind of an unspoken rule— dark things are only talked about in the dark.  They learn bits and pieces about each other during middle-of-the-night phone calls or late nights in the lab that turn into early mornings, both of them too tired and comfortable to care about what they're sharing. 

Anyways, the fresh air is helping. Peter feels the weight in his head lessen enough where he's able to process how much of what he's feeling is actual spider-sense anxiety and what's just the normal kind. 

Tony sits beside him and starts talking while he breathes through the dwindling nausea. Little stuff, always allowing an entry if or when Peter felt comfortable enough to be human again. 

"We could watch that clone show," he says offhandedly. "The animated one you like. I think we stopped on the second episode last time, but that was a while ago, so you'll have to fill me in on what I forgot. I'm all old now, so the brain gets foggy. If you don't fill me in, it's basically elder abuse. Just so you know."

At the silent response of a quip being left wide open, Tony looks over at him. "Not feeling any better?"

"I feel better," Peter says quiet, defeated. "I just hate that I get like this sometimes. I'm Spider-Man, you know? I have to be better. Think clearer."

Tony shrugs, loosely hanging an arm over his shoulder's. "Maybe. But you're also, like, sixteen? Seventeen? God, you're growing up fast. The point is, you're still young now, and you've been through a lot of shit. It's going to take some time before all of that is just a passing thought."

Peter bites back an argument. 

"I know," Tony affirms, rolling his eyes. "You think I was fine and dandy coming back from Afghanistan? That took me years. Then the whole thing in 2012 took me even longer."

"Right," Peter says with a sigh.

Tony shakes him a bit, his eyes going earnest. "Hey. You're doing good, Peter. Seriously. I'm proud of you."

Peter nods, looking down. "Are we going back in?"

"Mmm, no," Tony says, scratching his chin. "I think I'm in the mood for donuts."

With that, the faintest hint of a smile makes its way to Peter's face— and Tony beams.

lol, I mean, all of them end pretty hopeful, yeah? That's the best I can do.

Do you get hate on fics?

On a few of them, yeah. People can think what they want, I know sometimes I walk a thin line when it comes to the "happy" bits or I sometimes make characters a little more unlikeable (I mean I consider it more realistic) but I sometimes get push back on it. Usually it's when I'm doing Irondad and they are like aren't father/son within seconds of seeing each other, lol. Opps, sorry I like realism in my superhero fics!

On Edge of Your Name, some people found Charlie unrealistic but I didn't think so at all.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yes! Slash mostly but I've done het and femslash in the past.

Ugh, so hard to answer this because I have so, so many OTPs, lol. I mean McShep is always at the top of my heart, but Narlie since it's fucking canon and oh yeah Ineffable Husbands will never not make my 12 year old heart beat faster.

What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

Hm, there are a few. I've got an Irondad that's a Tony presumed dead that I'd like to get finished but it's so hard to keep Tony Stark presumed dead and not escape wherever he's at.

I've got a Charlie at uni fic that I really want to eventually finish but I lose steam on it everytime I try!

What are your writing strengths?

I think I can do dialogue pretty well at this point, I think I've mastered the flow of it.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Everything else? Ha.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I don't, lmao. I mean, I have but it's only small things that I can google.

I think it was honestly something like Rainbow Brite or X-Men comics, to be honest. I also may have written self insert Power Ranger fics and Inspector Gadget lol oh and Captain Planet.

Don't judge me lol I was writing fic before I really understood what I was writing. I just liked adding myself into adventures with my favorite characters!

I try really hard to respond to almost every comment. But I'm slow sometimes.

Pretty sure none of my fics are angsty at the end. But there's a lot still up in the air in Visiting Hours and it's not a real fix-it. Mostly just some comfort after a bunch of bad (thanks, Marvel) stuff.

Um, they pretty much all have happy endings. But maybe From the Same Star, or its sequel, Cracks in the Soul.

Communication and characterization? I've had some good look with my OC's so far, and people (including me) have really liked them, so that's fun.

Brevity, action scenes, favoring best-outcomes instead of realism, plot in general.

It's rough. I'll do short phrases in Italian (and I've been studying it in duolingo for like 5 months now, just because I wish I was better at it) but I usually opt to write it out in English and delineate that they're speaking something else.

i think i'm good at balancing angst and humor too?? idk the walking dead really shaped my writing style because u can have a silly scene and then 2 seconds later someone is dead on the floor. hope to carry that vibe through everything i do.

17. what are your writing weaknesses? i am so bad at describing settings and character actions. i can always see the scene in my mind but on paper it turns into they are at a house. peter sits down in the chair, and is sad. and it gets to a point where i just give up on trying to fix it

18. thoughts on dialogue in another language? ough if i ever write dialogue in another language i'll be consulting someone who speaks said language (which is what i actually have done!!!! i have a fic coming out soon w a spanish title and i asked aster-argent for help:)). or doing the thing people do where they just put the text in italics and write ," he said in spanish or some shit.

idk for the most part i stay away from it (ignoring the throwaway, casada harley joke i make in my parkner series) because at the end of the day i am a white girl who learned how to count to 10 in spanish because of dora and took 3 years of german.

19. first fandom you wrote in? ok so. i was 11 and on quotev, writing a chatfic about the bands twenty one pilots, panic at the disco, my chemical romance, and fall out boy. the fic is still up and it makes me nauseous to think about

20. favorite fic you've written? i think this answer changes every day, and will change when i get my next group of fics out, but as of right now—

i'll put down my roots when i'm dead i'm just so proud of it idk. first time i've ever really met a deadline and probably the most passionate i'd been about getting a fic out since r&r began? i just love the whole thing.

Is Close the Closest Star? this one is definitely a tie with the several other angst oneshots i put out around the same time, but idk something about this fic is so special to me. it's like 6 months old and i know my writing's improved since then, but i'll always go back and reread

I know it's not done yet I'm working on it!!! But even still, I am genuinely so proud of where this series is ending and I'm really grateful that you guys seem to Get It while also being patient with me these past few months. I started writing Supercut in Dec. 2020 so it's been a Big Job to get all that story down on paper and I'm just glad to have gotten to do it tbh

So yeah, I mentioned before that Endgame effected me deeply (as in, I’ve been screaming about it here on my blog as well as to all of my poor family members since Friday). And y’all know my love for writing angst. But for real... the ending of Endgame destroyed me. I don’t think I’ll ever be fully over it. Anyhow, here’s a fic where I vent my feelings. Peter needs a hug and Tony deserved better, that’s all I’m gonna say. Peter’s mind was a jumble of emotions. He felt exhilarated, terrified, and excited all in one, and he couldn’t quite decipher which one was appropriate for the occasion. Not that he had any time for ciphering his feelings. He barely had time enough to stay alive.

To him, the past 24 hours have been a lifetime. Not only has he fought a battle alongside Tony freaking Stark, but he also died. In Tony’s arms. Only to be brought back what to him was an instant later (five years? That couldn’t be right.) to fight an even crazier battle alongside more heroes than Peter even knew existed. 

But of course, what did they matter to him when he didn’t even know them. Mr. Stark was the one he needed to see. He needed to tell him he was okay and that he didn’t have to worry anymore. If it had been five years... 

Peter couldn’t imagine what Tony had gone through. Had he carried the guilt that Peter knew he’d carry? Or had he taken his last words seriously? 

Ponder this he could not, for he was a little busy... ah, trying not to die. 

But he had found Mr. Stark. For a second between dodges and punches. They’d hugged. It’d been nice. He felt a little better. 

A boom in the distance snapped him out of his concentration momentarily. Just in time for an alien to get the best of him.

A large fist met his face. Although he could feel the blood fill his mouth, he couldn’t taste it. His other senses were going haywire with warning signs, while Karen was buzzing in the background of his suit like a siren. He could barely hear her, since his mask was gone. 

He punched the alien and spun to grab the guy behind him, only to have his hand meet empty air. Pulling back in horror, he watched as the alien faded before his eyes, nothing but dust left to the mercy of the wind.

He backed up, stunned. His senses did not dim. If anything, they sharpened. He wouldn’t- he would not- go again. This couldn’t be happening. 

He spun around, looking desperately for any sign telling him that history wasn’t repeating itself. Only hours- maybe not even that long- since he’d gotten back. He bit his cheek in silent terror.

Then, he paused. But it wasn’t the fact that none of the heroes were fading that caught his attention. It was something far worse.

Tony.

He didn’t even pause to think. Didn’t hesitate a moment before flinging himself down the rubble and across the fallen concrete. Across fallen comrades and dusting aliens alike. He shoved past people who only stared, unmoving, as if they didn’t realize what Ton- Mr. Stark had just done-. 

Because Peter could feel it. He could feel the energy vibrating from Tony’s body. Could feel as it grew weaker. 

He almost fell when he landed at Tony’s feet. Scrambling, he clumsily grabbed at his armor. “Mr. Stark.” 

He tried to catch Tony’s gaze. He waited to hear him say something like, “Yeah, kid, I’m fine, get off me spiderling.” but instead... Tony didn’t even look at him. Peter had to forcefully grab Tony’s cheek and turn his head, and still, Tony stared straight through him, as if he didn’t actually see him.

“M-mr. Stark... we did it, Mr. Stark.” Peter was desperate now, and his voice did nothing to hide it. He was well aware of the state Tony’s arm was in. He could sense that his armor was hiding most of the damage. And with Tony’s heart...

The tears were coming in torrents before he even realized he was crying. His voice grew thicker. “Mr. Stark- no, Mr. Stark we won. Mr. Stark-” Someone grabbed his arm and pulled him away, but all he could see were Tony’s dazed eyes. They slowly followed Peter as he was pulled away, until they settled on Pepper who took his place.

Peter felt hollow. His senses disappeared in a rush of nothing. He almost felt dead again. He nearly wished he was. 

He blabbered something more, nearly incoherent. “Sorry- Tony. Tony-” Someone was pulling him into their arms. He didn’t really care who it was, because those arms were strong and offering the comfort he needed. He hid his face against the leather armor and cried. He could hear Pepper, could hear Tony’s shallow breathing. He couldn’t tear himself away from the scene. He tried to focus on the person holding him; tried to focus on their heartbeat, but he couldn’t. He just... he couldn’t.

He looked up when Pepper started crying. He turned his head, just as the arc reactor sputtered out, and dimmed. 

Tony’s hand fell.

And Peter choked on a sob. He fought whoever was holding him, suddenly angry. Why wasn’t anyone doing anything!? They were just- just watching him die. Watching him after he’d sacrificed everything-.

While the arms holding him were strong, they were still no match for Peter. He tore lose of their grip and crumpled to his knees, shaking with grief. He crawled to Pepper’s side and grabbed Tony’s hand in pure desperation. The hand was nothing but dead weight, but he took no notice. He grappled the wrist, sobbing as he tried to find any signs of a pulse. 

Even if there’d been one he wasn’t sure he’d find it. He was a mess, his spidey senses were exhausted. He was exhausted.

Hands stilled his sloppy attempts. Looking up through his tears, he saw Pepper. She was crying too. He’d never seen her cry before.

“He’s gone, Peter.” She whispered.

He stared at Tony’s face. At his dull eyes. He’d never heard his voice. He didn’t even know what Tony’s last words were. He hadn’t said goodbye-

From that moment, Peter cried no more. It was like... any will to show emotion had been sucked out of him. He moved in a daze. He watched as Tony was carried by Steve and Rhodey, with Pepper following holding Tony’s hand. He let himself be led out of the battle zone by a woman he did not know. He let himself be put in a car and driven to Queens. But even when Aunt May hugged him, he still did not cry. 

Two days later was the funeral. And all Peter could do was watch as any hopes that Tony was coming back drifted away. He was gone. And, in a way, he’d taken a little piece of Peter with him. 

Was this what Mr. Stark had had to live with for five years? This... empty feeling in the pit of your stomach? The guilty feeling that it could’ve been fixed, had he done something different..? 

He didn’t realize he was still standing at the dock when everyone was beginning to return to the house, until a little hand grabbed his. He looked down into the face a little dark haired girl. Her eyes were wide, her mouth turned down. He thought he saw little tear streaks on her cheeks.

“I’m Morgan.” She said simply. Peter couldn’t bring himself to smile, but he nodded and gave her hand the slightest squeeze. 

“I’m Peter.” He returned.

He looked up when Pepper whispered Morgan’s name. She let go of Peter’s hand and went to grab Pepper’s skirt. 

“Hello, Peter.” Pepper said quietly. Her voice didn’t shake, but he could see the pain in the her eyes. 

“Hi.” He said, just as quietly. There weren’t many words to be said. 

Finally, she cleared her throat. “I see you met Morgan.” 

He looked up, silent.

A lone tear slipped down her cheek. “Tony picked the name.” 

It dawned on him. This... this was Tony’s kid. This was the kid everyone kept mentioning. He’d never heard her name. All he’d heard was “What about Tony’s kid?” “The poor kid. She doesn’t know.” “She didn’t get to say goodbye.” 

He sucked in a sharp breath and looked back at Morgan. She stared back, and it was then that he realized- she had Tony’s eyes.

“Hello, Morgan.” Peter whispered. He looked back to Pepper. “How...” He cleared his throat. “How are you doing... with all of this?” 

To anyone else, it would seem a stupid question. How well would anyone be holding up, if their husband had died only two days prior? But to Peter... he wanted confirmation. He wanted to know if he was the only one carrying this guilt.

Pepper looked back at the lake, then back to Peter, as if that was an answer to his question. She looked so tired. So worn. And yet, she smiled, albeit sadly. “How are you doing, Peter?” 

He almost crumbled, but he held himself together. He cleared his throat instead. “I...” What could he say? That he’s had nightmares every night since? That he hasn’t gotten more than two hours of solid sleep? Instead, he said the first things that came to his mind. “I don’t even know his last words. I don’t know what he would’ve said to me if he’d had the chance.” 

There was peaceful silence, filled only by the slight hum of the others talking quietly at the house. Morgan took that moment to pull away and run up to the house, where she grabbed at Happy’s hand. 

Pepper lifted her chin, and Peter could tell she was trying her hardest not to cry. He suddenly wanted to hug her, to tell her it would be okay. Second to May, she was the closest to a Mom he’d ever have.

“He’d say he was proud of you. And that he’s sorry he didn’t say he loved you. Because he did, Peter. You were the son he never had. You were his first kid.” She reached forward and rested her hand on his shoulders when she saw they began to shake. Biting his lip, he looked away, fearing he might fall apart if he looked at her any longer. 

“You were the reason he tried to reverse the snap.” She continued, her voice hitching. “He loved you like you were his own kid. He even told Morgan she had an older brother.” 

Peter hugged himself, fighting the urge to sob, right there and then, in front of Pepper and whoever else was watching. Which could be anyone, given the amount of superheroes on the front porch. 

“’I am Ironman’.” Pepper whispered. “Those were his last words.” 

She hugged him, and after a few moments asked if he would be okay. He said he would be, and she left.

Peter stood there, staring at the sparkling blue water. The sky was clear, and the sun was just setting. Peaceful. 

But his heart was heavy. Tony had done it all for him. His guilt was well deserved. 

So Peter cried.

DUDE i could go on a fucking rant about and y'know what? I will.

Apologies for the chunks of text thata re very ramble-y.

It seems like a lot of hatred of Yagi stems from two things: his words to Izuku in s1e1, and his bad teaching. For the latter, I think that's bullshit because in my interpretation, Yagi is not quirkist. People forget that he was fuckin quirkless himself, and sure, his generation wasn't as discriminatory but he presumably went through the same things as Izuku. And keep in mind, Yagi regards himself as helpless/useless without his quirk (see: the Vigilante Arc in the manga), as to him it's the only reason he could be a hero. Furthermore, even with the most powerful quirk, he still got his ass beat by AFO. So when a quirkless Izuku asks him if he can be a hero, it's not that he hates quirkless people, or that he is discriminatory, it's that Yagi own insecurities dictate that he himself couldn't be a hero without a quirk. Yagi is a victim of the system that discriminates against quirkless people, as well as a victim of his own trauma.

And with the former point, I see a lot of points that Yagi sucks because he's a bad teacher and didn't stop Izuku from breaking himself. Now, he's not an amazing teacher, but jfc characters can have flaws, and ultimately he's well meaning. But the sheer hypocrisy I see when people write Aizawa as this amazing teacher when he did fuck all for Izuku too. Aizawa let Izuku break himself and never helped, even though he threatened Izuku on the first day. (And speaking of the first day, there's no way Aizawa didn't rig the QAT. Izuku canonically can lift a whole ass fridge with Yagi on top with 100% quirkless, and is. comparatively fit. There's no way people like Hagakure, Jiro, Kaminari, Koda, etc. etc. would beat him in everything enough for him to be last place.) Furthermore, Aizawa had to know Izuku only just got his quirk (I believe that the thing that he doesn't check student files is completely fanon, but correct me if I'm wrong) and did nothing, but gets put on a pedestal! And that's hypocritical. Aizawa let Bakugo harass Izuku, didn't notice Mineta's harassment, didn't help Kaminari utilise his quirk to stop him from shocking himself, etc. etc. And I think that Aizawa is a product of a bystander society but y'all, how can he be put on a pedestal and Yagi bashed when he's a shit teacher too??

Also, if there was a quirkless person in the hero course, what's the chance Aizawa would have expelled them? Because tbh, there's probably a chance that he would.

Also, don't get me started on the people who think Yagi 'groomed' Izuku like wtf. If that's the case, then doesn't that mean Aizawa groomed Shinso? I could also talk a lot abt shinso because a lot of the stuff about him is completely fanon and everyone likes to woobify him, but that's an ask for another day. How people can bash Yagi, but have a Bakugo redemption, parental Aizawa, good friend Shinso, etc. is just, eh. Like I get it, but eh.

And honestly, to an extent I get it. People love found family. Hell, I'm a massive fan of Irondad, Dadmight, and so many other things like that. And to an extent Dadzawa isn't bad! But to bash Yagi to make Aizawa seem like a better person? Nah. They're both heavily flawed characters, and ignoring one's flaws and exacerbating the other's just feels hypocritical.

Honestly, at this point I can't really read any Dadzawa fics or Quirkless Izuku fics because of the rampant Yagi bashing. It's just, ugh. I can't wait until the Vigilante arc is animated, so that anime-onlys have to see that Yagi and Izuku's relationship is so much more that what they describe.

But hell, this is the MHA fandom. Critical analysis means fuck all here. But each to their own.

Ultimately, MHA is a flawed world, where everyone is a victim of societal bias and inherent discrimination. No one character is exempt from this. Not Yagi, not Aizawa, not anyone else. But everyone is allowed to have their own interpretation.

Defending Peter Parker (Round 2: Tom Holland)

Soooooo I'm doing this cuz I'm bored to show y'all how dumb some of your arguments and criticisms of the live action spidermen are. I did Garfield already. I'll do Maguire if someone shows me where people have hated on his spidey cuz all I ever see for him is people treating him like he's the most perfect Peter Parker to ever exist. I'd never tell anyone how they're "supposed" to feel about a situation so I won't do that and also don't take this seriously I'm just a dumb teenager. I'm just taking the dumb opinions y'all like to pass as fact and rebutting them with actual facts.

😐If this is your main critique of Tom Holland's spiderman, pls go find another one. This is so overused. The "they're only famous cuz they're hot" excuse has been used for every hot actor/actress ever. At this point, it isn't even real criticism, you just come off as lame. And yeah, alot of people like him because he's hot, but that's definitely not the only reason.

1) Let's be real. The fandom pushed irondad wayyyy more than the actual movies did.

2) If you still use this argument after Far From Home, you missed the whole point of what FFH was supposed to be.

I was scrolling through tumblr and I saw a great point that someone made.

That entire movie was about him coming into his own as a hero, facing his problems head-on, and dealing with the threat by himself. That was the point of the whole movie. Yes, he had the Stark tech to help him make a suit, but he designed it himself, and then he went up against a threat that had incredibly powerful Stark tech at their disposal and still won. By himself. Everyone was asking who the next Iron Man would be and Happy even flat out said "You're not Iron Man." Because he isn't. He came into his own. He is established now.

Peter started the movie a bit lost without Tony and just wanting to deny his responsibilities and get away for a while.

He ended the movie finally accepting himself for who he was and even having to fight against Stark technology. He had to rely on himself and instead of worrying about this title that's been put on him, he has to just go with his own instincts (all the way down to his web shooters running out and having to literally just rely on his mind and his body) and look his responsibilities in the face. Idk a better way for him to have broken out of being "ironboy".

3) Plus, they needed some way to bring Spiderman into the MCU. And Tony is practically the MCU's Bruce Wayne when it comes to "adopting" children. Of course he was gonna be the one to bring him in.

Happy- Happy Hogan is not Peter's mentor. He literally helped him out in ONE scene. That is not enough to be a mentor.

Mysterio- He is also not a mentor. Storywise, he was Peter's scapegoat to caste his responsibilities onto because he didn't want them/feel he was worthy of them. And then later he was a villain. Just because the two have one small pep talk, doesn't mean he's a mentor.

I think most ppl that say this stuff really just don't want Peter to have any help. What you guys fail to realize is that getting help does not make you any less of a hero. You can still be a solo hero and get a peptalk every now and then. Batman, Superman, Ironman. They all get help from people in their movies and I don't see anyone complaining about it or saying they need to be alone.

Also, grow up? This dude is literally a sophmore/junior in high school. They talk so much about how he's literally a kid. Alot of the spiderman comics take place with him still being in high school. He doesn't have to be an adult. And as far as maturity goes, it's not like he's a dumb kid. He's just a teen doing what teens do.

Come on guys. How many times have we seen this origin story? We all know it.

The story takes place when he's ALREADY spiderman so Uncle Ben is ALREADY dead. (They even have his suitcase in FFH). Just because they don't really mention it doesn't mean it didn't happen. We don't need to see the same origin story again. I mean, does every Batman movie mention Bruce's parents dying in the alley? No. Cuz we all already know it does. Origin stories are integral but the MCU wasn't erasing his, they were simply just starting after it.

And in every spidey story Uncle Ben always teaches him "with great power comes great responsibility". Well if you watch the movies, MCU Peter learns his lessons in responsibilities sooooo we're covered there.

Yeah yeah we all love Uncle Ben but him already passing doesn't mean the story's bad. That's just where they wanted to start lol.

Homecoming: If Vulture would've won, there would've been more easily accessible alien weapons available for criminals like the Shocker, the Tinkerer, etc. Also Vulture would have been a criminal loose on the streets. Regardless of his intentions, he was a guy willing to kill for what he wanted.

FFH: What Mysterio was doing, even though it was an illusion, was actually causing casualties. His workers talked about it to him over and over again. Especially if the last attack in London (i think?) would have worked, alot of people would have died. Also the world would have been tricked into depending on someone that actually couldn't really keep them safe.

Lol but regardless, Peter doesn't have to be dealing with a gigantic threat. The whole thing about being a superhero is doing what's right, regardless of how big or small the situation is. He's literally fought with the Avengers. I think he's proven himself.

All in all Tom Holland is the best (for me personally). I never have an issue when he's on screen and he's really just so awesome😊

I don't think that it's Irondad erasure as much as it is Peter moving on. Or because Doctor Strange and Spidey team up is a classic from the comics. And you need to also understand the real world stuff going on Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle might not want to return for an mcu movie. And Happy might still be in the movie.

Hi there Anon!

 Sorry about those tags, I was heavily sleep deprived and I just sort of got washed away in the panic that everyone seemed to be exuding hah. After leaving it for a while and having a good think about it, I’ve decided that I’m actually not bothered by the news at all, because we all know that Tony will always be Peter’s father-figure in the end. And don’t get me wrong, I love Strange! I’ve been wanting to see more of their interactions together since Infinity War to be honest, so I’m excited to see where they go with their characters.

And also side note, everyone keeps saying Strange will be his new mentor but... do we actually know that? Has someone confirmed it? Because him being in the movie doesn’t mean he’ll necessarily be playing a mentor role to Peter, it could be just a cameo like Ragnarok. I’m just curious what the actual source is for this information I guess. But hey, if he does end up mentoring him, I’m down for that too!

Regarding Happy, Rhodey and Pepper, you’re right on that front too. The actors may choose not to come back, and I guess that’s something that I had forgotten about while getting lost in the narrative. I usually work in animation and writing, so a character disappearing because someone couldn’t/wouldn’t play them just doesn’t usually register on my radar hah, so that’s on me.

I think the thing that is actually bothering me (and I think a lot of other people) is that the introduction of Strange implies the introduction of the Multiverse, which would overshadow Tom’s iteration of Peter Parker with both this new concept, and the possible characters that could come from it. We need time to see how Peter handles the aftermath of FFH, not for it to get lost in the rather complex world of alternate realities and casts. This is the third Spider-Man movie for Tom and he deserves to be the main focus of the movie. I think this is where most of the contention is coming from, not actually that Strange is in the movie or has some kind of connection with Peter.

That’s just my thoughts though! I’m sorry if I came off as abrasive earlier, I promise that wasn’t my intent. In the end, none of us really have any idea what this movie is going to turn out like, so I guess we’ll just have to remain cautiously optimistic in the meantime :) Hope you have an awesome day Anon!

Well, I can’t give you an absolute answer because we don’t know what’s going to happen but I can tell you some stuff I’ve been reading about this. A few months ago, an anon sent me some ‘spoilers’ about Spider-Man 3, and because one of those ‘spoilers’ had something to do with irondad, I became obsessed lmao I thought I was done with the MCU but anything with irondad on it is instantly everything to me. So I took one for the team and actually went back to Reddit to see if I could find something about it. 

IF SOMEONE DOESN’T WANT TO READ ANYTHING RELATED TO SPIDERMAN 3 PLEASE STOP READING NOW. I’m going to tag this as spoilers too.

Here are some possible reasons you’re reading that: take this with a grain of salt, this could only be rumors and nothing official has been confirmed.

1. Tom Holland gave an interview about Spider-Man 3 when he regained his position in the MCU, he said the story was going to be insane. He also said that the movie was going to very special and different from the first two. And when asked about Peter’s relationship with Michelle, he said this: “Zendaya will definitely be [with Spider-Man 3]. 2. Apparently, the studio wants to bring the real ‘MJ’ into the MCU. One of the sources that gave out the info about the She-Hulk said it on Reddit and other platforms. Even if they were right about the She-Hulk, let’s take this with a grain of salt. As we know, Zendaya is paying homage to a different MJ by playing the character ‘Michelle Jones’. But now, they want to bring the real MJ into the movies. I don’t know why they do this. It’s kinda annoying how they keep changing his love interest in every movie but from what I understood, after hours of endless torture on Reddit, it seems like one of the many first Spider-Man 3 scripts has a special MJ in it. It’s like they have an early draft of the script and they created a more traditional Mary Jane Watson, just like in the comics. And I also got that they want Michelle to be Spider-Woman, just not with Peter Parker. They want her to a hero but not as Peter’s partner. With this, they’re basically saying that they don’t want Zendaya’s character to be the love interest forever, they want to sculpt her character into something more solid. They want to give her a storyline on her own, this is probably why we don’t know almost anything about the character.

Kevin Feige said SM3 is about Peter. ‘It’s all Peter focused and Peter based’. This is probably the reason they’re speculating because the MCU wants to focus more on Peter’s growth as a superhero and his story than his romantic one. Apparently, this is Peter ‘out of Tony’s shadow’ (rolling my eyes to the moon and back ) and ‘out of the Avenger’s shadow’, (when was he ever???) he’s going to face challenges that are not Avengers related. In other words, spider-man origin villains. This is basically Marvel hearing the dudebros’ complaints about Peter not being his own superhero (iron man jr crap, rolling my eyes again), so now they’re giving him his original villains, taking him out of the Avengers business and giving him a redhead just like they wanted. 

Some sites are dumb af and think Tom and Zendaya actually dated, and they believe this is the reason they don’t want to be love interests in the movie. This is by far, the most ridiculous one I’ve ever read. 

My opinion:

If they go for the love triangle crap. I swear. No. I don’t ship spideychelle but god, I hate love-triangles, it’s the worst thing a franchise/movie can do to their characters. Ever heard of The Vampire Diaries??

I do want the irondad spoilers to be true tho because I miss them so much but I don’t know. I just really want some of those spoilers about Tony to be real. I really don’t care about the other rumors because they’re pretty obvious, something about Mysterio surviving, the Vulture returning, spidey villains and Norman Osborn appearing. I do want the one about Liz Allan returning. Laura deserves to be in the franchise. Also, the supposed title is so ridiculous, drop the ‘home’ already lmao.

At first, I thought they were joking because dudebros on Reddit are the most annoying creatures you’re ever going to meet in your life lmao trust me. I’ve dealt with many of them and god, I’d rather eat soap. And don’t even get me started with 4chan. But some dude that gave info about the wandavision show scared me because he was right about some things but again, nothing has been confirmed yet. Emergency Contacts Flash gets a hold of Peter's phone at a party, and can only access the emergency contacts. Parker has a "Dad" listed in there, but Flash knows his dad died. As a joke, in the heat of the moment, he texts a ransom message to that contact. He didn't expect a very angry Iron Man to show up minutes later.

Cutting Remarks Peter Parker's field trip ends up being at Stark Industries, thanks to a little push from Pepper. Peter makes Tony promise to stay out of it, but Tony has never been great at keeping his distance. FRIDAY basically calls him a stalker. Kids are mean. Peter is self-sacrificing. You know, the usual.

Better Than I Was Rhodey makes it down to the Tower for a visit, and to meet the "intern" Tony has been so busy with, and is surprised by what he finds there.

Sick Day Shouldas Tony gets a call from Peter's school, asking him to pick Peter up because of a migraine, which turns out to be a result of his senses being haywire.

Outside Insights Since he had a head injury that prompted observation for 24 hours, Peter ends up having to shadow Tony as he attends to some SI business. It happens to be "Family Day," and lots of people are confused about the relationship between Mr. Stark and the kid he brought with him.

I try hard to respond to every comment. But sometimes I get woefully behind! :( (Like right now!)

Do any of my fics have angsty endings? Not really... Maybe Near-Arctic Adventures would count with Rhodey's musings at the end, and looking at the series possibly ending in "Infinity War" happening.

Most of my fics have happy endings... I'm going to randomly pick Birthday Breakout.

Not so far. A little constructive criticism here and there. :)

Nope.

I have not. I don't usually read them either.

The platonic Peter Parker & Tony Stark one is probably my favorite, but I've liked lots of them in the past. :) Lois/Clark in Lois & Clark: the New Adventures of Superman, Edward/Bella, Jasper/Alice, Spock/Uhura, (that was cheating, wasn't it...)

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

I don't have any WIPs I don't think I'll finish, unless it's the AU of my soulmates AU that I started. I don't know if I'll ever post it, therefore I'll probably never finish it.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Grammar and spelling, attention to body language, fun dialogue.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Rambling about things that aren't that interesting, not great at cutting stuff out after I write it. (I'm crap at "killing my darlings.")

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I do some in Italian for Peter and Tony in Hardly Coincidence and the rest of the soulmate universe, but I usually switch to English and just indicate that they're speaking Italian for anything very long. (It has also inspired me to study Italian on Duolingo though, and I have a 225 day streak!)

19. First fandom you wrote for?

I tried writing a Pern fanfiction (Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders) at least 20 years ago. It wasn't good. I didn't make it past the first chapter, and didn't try again until I was almost 40...

20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?

How am I supposed to answer that? If I was cheating I'd pick the whole Strands in the Rope series, but maybe Visiting Hours is my favorite standalone.

From a young age, Albert had been labeled as a “troubled kid.” Needless to say, he hated this label. He wasn’t troubled. His mind was just a little on the fucked side and he liked to deal with his issues on his own rather than talk to people. And he certainly never touched anyone. So far it had worked. Probably because he never got close enough to anyone that they would be able to figure out he wasn’t exactly normal. But no matter what, he certainly wasn’t troubled.

Spot, on the other hand, did not seem to care about all of Albert’s carefully constructed walls, he just smashed them all down one after another after another after another. Not that this was a bad thing, at least not initially. Albert liked getting close to someone, it was an experience different than others that he had had. It didn’t take long until he was counting the minutes every day until he would see him. Spot also seemed to be enjoying their relationship.

That was, until Albert fucked it all up.

The day itself had been perfect. The two of them were camped out in the bed of Spot’s pickup in the empty parking lot outside of the old abandoned gas station, smoke from their cigarettes swirling up toward the black sky. Albert had even begun to feel himself relax, a rare occurrence for him, as the night wore on and his and Spot’s ramblings turned into long forgotten, funny stories that got them both laughing harder than they had in ages.

But like all good things, even that came to an end. And this time it was all Albert’s fault. As usual.

His mistake came when he, for some unknown reason, reached over to touch Spot’s forearm. Maybe he had been reaching for the lighter and miscalculated, or maybe some unconscious part of his brain had wanted to hold Spot’s hand, but either way the damage was done. Albert’s heart began to fill with dread, the phantom calm he had previously felt evaporating entirely as he yanked his hand back faster than he thought possible. Even in the dark, he could see the place where his hand had been on Spot’s forearm. Mostly because it was glowing red.

Spot must have yelped in pain, he must have, because Albert saw the look of shock on his face as he tried to piece together what had happened. Then, like they all did, he was backing away from Albert like he was infected with some kind of very contagious disease, pressing his still glowing forearm into his chest. Albert’s brain registered Spot’s hard voice, even if he didn’t hear it, demanding to know what was that and what the heck had just happened and do you need to go to the hospital cause I can take you its okay it’ll be okay just explain what’s going on for me so I understand it’ll be okay I don’t care if you’re troubled its okay we can just-

No! Albert felt like yelling, and, based on the look on Spot’s face, maybe he had. You can’t fix this! It’s just who I am there’s no way around it!

Then Spot did the worst thing he possibly could, he tried to explain to him, explain that you need help that I can’t give you because issues like that could kill you I’ve seen it happen before, that’s not natural it’s your mind trying to expel the excess feeling it doesn’t know what to do with its really dangerous just let me get you help so that it doesn’t get out of-

With that, Albert jumped off of the truck, angrily throwing his cigarette on the ground and stamping it out. He didn’t know what to say except that maybe haven’t you figured out that maybe I’m doing this on purpose and maybe I don’t care if it claims me cause then that’s just one less thing that I have to deal with!

Spot began immediately to protest that you know you shouldn’t talk like that cause-

“FUCK YOU!” Albert finally screamed so loud that it he was able to hear it. “I’VE ALREADY ACCEPTED IT, I’VE CRIED OVER IT, YOU CAN CRY ABOUT IT TOO FOR ALL I CARE ITS NOT GOING TO CHANGE ANYTHING JUST LEAVE ME BE!”

Spot stood in stunned silence. As for Albert, he turned forcefully on his heel and ran down the street, away, far far away from Spot.

He knew he should have never gotten close to Spot.

Race smiled broadly, his eyes blissed out as he took another long drag from the blunt he was nursing.  Albert sat loosely in front of him, limbs drooping heavily as he hazily scanned the city, eyes bloodshot and happy.  They’d been in a little alcove in Central Park for a while, steadily smoking their way through separate blunts and becoming one with the white noise that surrounded them.  

Race particularly enjoyed afternoons such as these.  Minutes seeping by with zero obligations- responsibilities getting lost in the smoke.  It was therapeutic in a sense and he was comfortable enough with Albert that he didn’t feel the need to interact with him entirely while they were in each other’s company.  They could just exist simultaneously and be content.

Race inhaled another lungful, brain hazing out even more.  Everything around him had a dull quality, the shapes of the world less sharp than usual.  He blearily rubbed at his eyes, but nothing seemed to right itself.  Wow.  He was really high.

“Hey, uh,” Albert leaned forward, his hand landing off-center on Race’s knee, “I’m tired and shit, so I think I’ma call it a thick day, okay?”

Race scrunched his eyes shut as a laugh bubbled in his chest, “Thick with two Cs?”

“Thiccccc,” Albert drawled, “Thick with all the Cs, man.”

They laughed heartily, heads thrown back in joy.

“Okay, man,” Race said, clambering to his feet and haphazardly helping Albert up before clapping him on the back, “I’ll catch ya, later.”

Albert nodded, patting his cheek and chuckling, “Byeeeee.” He saluted lazily, then turned and staggered off in the direction of his apartment complex, leaving Race to venture the opposite way, towards his.

He walked for several blocks, eyes unfocused as he faintly observed the world around him, smiling serenely.  But as he continued to walk, he became aware of how utterly confused he was.  Where was his apartment complex again?  What street was he even on?

He was too far gone to let the panic that distantly gripped his stomach to manifest.  But he was aware that he wasn’t in a good situation, so he stopped walking, pausing to look at the area surrounding him.

Nothing was recognizable.  Fuck.

“Yo, man, you okay?”

A new voice cut into the blur of his consciousness, pulling him out of his head slightly and into the moment.  He turned with wide eyes and found himself looking down at a shorter man with an impossibly sharp jawline and gleaming brown eyes.

Race heard himself giggle, “Fuck no, man, I’m lost as shit and you’re hot as shit.”

Subconsciously, he was aware that he might have just put himself in immense danger by calling the guy hot, but he couldn’t bring himself to care.  The guy didn’t seem to mind.  Instead, his eyebrows flew to his hairline, an amused smirk finding its way to his lips.

“And you’re stoned as shit,” The guy countered, “are you lost?”

Race stared at him for a moment longer before turning his head slowly to look around, hiis current predicament returning, “Oh, yeah,” he slurred, “I am.”

The guy seemed to be holding back laughter, “Do you have someone you can call?  Want me to get an Uber for you or something?”

Race fixed his gaze back on the guy, “Who’re you?  Why are you so hot?” he asked, ignoring the guy’s question.

“I’m Spot,” Spot said, reaching out and gently pulling Race out of the ongoing crowd of people swarming the streets, “And I could ask you the same question.”

Race’s eyes widened, “Fuck me, bro.  Literally, take my ass and fuck me.”

Spot’s expression turned into one of alarm and he huffed out a bemused laugh, “Maybe sometime when you’re not high and you know what you’re agreeing to.”

Race shook his head, admiration and awe etched on his face, “Hot and consensual.  What more could I want?”

“Okay, buddy, we really needa find a safe way to get you home.” Spot said, seriously, although he was still smiling, “Can I see your phone?  What’s your name, by the way?”

“Uh, Race,” Race said, reaching into his back pocket and pulling out his phone, using his fingerprint to click into it before handing it to Spot, who took it and pulled up Race’s contacts.

“Okay,” he said, eyes narrowing in focus as he fiddled with the phone for a moment.  

His fingers were flying across the screen and Race frowned, “What’re you doing?”

“Hm?” Spot sounded distracted, “Oh, you’ll see,” he typed for another moment before he looked expectantly as Race, “There, done.  Anyway, who can I call?  On favorites I see a ‘Jack’, an ‘Elmer’, and an ‘Albert’.”

Race took a moment to process the words, before he blurted a loud, “Jack!” out.

“Alright, give me one moment.” Spot tapped on Jack’s contact and held the phone up to his ear, communicating the situation briefly to Jack before thanking him and hanging up, “He’ll be over at that Starbucks in twenty,” Spot concluded, pointing across the street, “For now, wanna wait in there?”

Race’s eyes lit up, “Hell yeah, bro, I love Starbucks!”

Spot laughed, already beginning to lead him across the street, “Alright, c’mon.”

They entered the Starbucks and Spot lead Race to the booth that ran along the wall opposite of the cash registers.  Race watched as he strolled to the counter to order coffees, and a cake-pop upon Race’s rising munchie request, for the two of them.  

“Does this count as a first date?” Race giggled, pulling his iced caramel latte and chocolate cake pop towards his body, taking a long sip from the straw.

“Nothing counts ‘til you’re sober,” Spot said, taking a sip of his own drink, “but I put my number in your phone earlier, so if you were to want to have a first date…”

“Ah fuck yeah!” Race whooped as Jack walked in.  He turned excitedly to Jack, who had approached the table, “I got a hot guys number, Jackie!”

Jack bit the inside of his cheek, eyebrows raising, “Wow, okay,” he turned to Spot, “Thanks for taking care of him, man, that was really cool of you.  He’s pretty stupid when he’s high.”

Spot shook his head, “It’s no problem.  Really.”

Race stood and turned to look down at Spot, “I will call you, my sweets, I promise.”

Spot and Jack laughed loudly.

“I’ll be looking forward to it, buttercup.”
