The boat arrives at the isles! FINALLY. Now the storyline can begin! Logico, Navy, and Sable step off onto the dock, and Lady Violet spreads her wings and greets them in a ceremony so big it looks like a wedding.

VIOLET: WEL-LO! WEL-LO, MY DEAR ASSOCIATES! LOGICO: “Wel-lo”?? VIOLET: I didn’t know whether to say ‘welcome’, or ‘hello’... so you know! Hello NAVY, and oh who are you? SABLE: Hi… VIOLET: Oh my god you’re such a sweetie. Here!

She hands Sable a drink, and she looks very happy. Logico trips over a body! It’s the captain of the rescue ship!

LOGICO: SERIOUSLY? This man just saved our lives!! VIOLET: Ew! A body?? I was just trying to celebrate! ;; NAVY: Nh… I feel sick already. I’m going to head back…

Then he sees that the dock is (somehow) on a cliff with a steep spiraling staircase that’d kill him to traverse. He stays put.

As Logico examines, he finds a sword in a fishing shack, an obvious murder weapon. Oddly enough, it’s broken in half, only the handle with a bit of a blade. It has an engraving on the handle - this is Lord Violet’s sword! Logico is incredibly intrigued - he wants all the lore he can get on this figure.

SABLE: I feel so much better now! <3 And… I have you to thank, Admiral Navy. NAVY: Me? I did practically nothing. SABLE: Well… not to me. I’m really grateful…

She takes his flippers lovingly and stares deep into his eyes. Suddenly, he roars! 

NAVY: WHY IS EVERYONE BEING LIKE THIS TO ME! I AM NOT LOOKING FOR LOVE ANYMORE, I’M DONE WITH THAT! IT’S TOO HORRIBLE!!

Sable starts to cry. Violet tucks into the fishing shack and clutches the Lord’s sword.

Still in the apartment, Irratino paces. He clutches his head and tries to send Logico a telepathic message. But can it even work if he’s not close? He sits on the bed and rubs his face, breathing heavily.

LOGICO: It was Admiral Navy! NAVY: That’s right! I didn’t like the look of that rival seaman, so I killed him.  LOGICO: You are the pettiest man alive! NAVY: And, having killed him, I have no reason to stay. And so, I depart!

He jumps into the ocean.

LOGICO: OH MY GOD, HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE GOING TO JUMP INTO THE OCEAN?!

Welp, looks like the walrus better learn how to swim, or else. Logico goes to see Violet instead.

LOGICO: Excuse me. My invitation doesn’t, by any chance, concern a dark secret on the island, does it?

Violet laughs kind of maniacally and jerks her head towards the shack. She looks back at Logico, super nonchalant.

VIOLET: No, of course not! I just wanted you to enjoy the holiday party with us.

Logico blinks.

LOGICO: Seems legit.

And he waddles after the princess.

Apropos nothing, let's talk about The Wingman and why it all went to shit for me with that episode. I keep trying to analyze and understand why I just can't get on the threesome train with y'all (and Dan). I'm sorry, that sounds very bad lmao.

Anyway, I think one reason it bothers me so much, is that I don't think enough of their individual growth and growth as a couple, is shown to us, for such a decision to be justified. We have to fill in too many blanks ourselves. How did they really get from those little bursts of healthy jealousy to "let's go fuck your ex".

Moreover, why was this plotline necessary? It wasn't that funny. It didn't develop their relationship. Why was the communication outside Jake's door so bitchy. It sounded to me like they were not at all ready for what they had come there to do. They hadn't had the necessary conversations and they were not free of all uncertainty and jealousy. It was like "Oh, you wore that shirt. You never wore it for me" and "Oh, you wore leather scented moisturizer. You never wore it for me." That's what it sounded like to me.

Actually, maybe that's the problem. We were never shown them going through that much trouble to seduce or offer that extra to each other. In fact, when it comes to sex between them, we never got any hint of them ever having sex after their first night. There were very vague allusions to it in the form of a few sex jokes, but there was never any indication shown that they even had a sex life tbh. They always slept in their pyjamas, only a head touching a shoulder. There was no plot line, that would have involved them going to have or having had sex. In fact, only time there was any sex happening, it was between David and another guy, on his wedding day no less.

I might as well admit it right now, that that pisses me off, too, but I made my peace with it fast and just kept reminding myself that this is a comedy show, it's all for the laughs. But still, we sure as hell have never seed David roll his eyes in ecstacy over how good he's had it with Patrick.

That's one of the biggest things bothering me. Only time we see them explicitly going to have sex, is with Jake. If we had been made aware that they have a good and satisfying sex life just the two of them, maybe then I could have more easily accepted this choice to make them want to try a threesome. But as it is, it came totally out of nowhere. It now seems just like they're doing it 'cause they're unsatisfied with their sex life. And that bothers me. Maybe it shouldn't. Maybe I should be fine with them needing other people to satisfy themselves sexually. But I'm not.

Unfortunately I need sex to mean something in fiction. I need it to be an expression of the characters feelings for each other. I need it to be emotionally driven. Now there was this strange dichotomy between their obvious love and devotion for each other and sex. As if sex was something completely separate from love and affection. Every time we see David have sex, it's without emotional attachment; Stevie, Jake, Sebastien, the masseur. Sure, there is that one time with Patrick, but that's it. Then it's all love but no sex. Cause sex apparently is not important in a relationship. It's just something you do for fun with whomever. He even tries to push Patrick to do the same, to go out with Ken and try it out with another guy, but Patrick is not able to. Because he only wants David, because of his strong feelings for David. How did that guy, who wanted physical intimacy to be only theirs, turn into a "yes, let's fuck whomever" -guy. It makes no sense to me. It's ooc.

And this is not about being prude or not being sex positive. I very much am sex positive. God knows I am all for it. But I do not believe many relationships can survive a threesome, unless you are truly polyamorous and free of all (very natural!) feelings of jealousy. There will be so many complicated feelings involved, I don't understand how it could be worth it.

Also Jake is not that hot. It's so unrealistic that Patrick would be all flustered and dtf immediately after meeting him (ok they met once before, but he certainly wasn't into him then!).

Idk I'm just talking in circles. But I'm not really even trying to make any point here. I just felt like talking about this, since recently I've been reminded about this threesome thing again. I guess ultimately my question is: why? Why would they choose to do that? Why would they want to? I know it's just as easy to counter with: Why not? But I can think of a hell of a lot more reasons not to do it.

God I wish I could talk to Dan about this. To hear in his own words why he chose to do this. Was it all for the laughs or is it just that important to him to push this sex positive agenda. That sounded more negative than I meant it, but I don't know how else to say it. I get the feeling that this sharing of your sexuality freely and generously (with whomever, regardless of whether you're in a relationship with someone or not), is a very important theme for him. Maybe it's because he's gay and the whole history of queer people being told our sexuality is bad and wrong and sinful and all that crap. I'd just like Dan to explain his viewpoint to me. If only.

In any case, I like monogamy and like to think relationships and intimacy is something a little bit sacred at least. There should be that something that is only the two of yours. Something that is private and not shared with others. That it's something special. Something to cherish.

Tbqh the way David and Stevie's relationship is discussed in this fandom as being very emotionally intimate and them being soulmates and basically not functioning without each other and the way there's this unquestioned unyielding support for this threesome story line, I often feel like what about Patrick? Doesn't he deserve more? Doesn't he deserve to have something that is just theirs? What is his role in David's life? What is the need in David's life that he fulfills? What is the point of a marriage if you're so freely sharing yourself with other people, that there is nothing left that's just for your husband?

What has Fusebox stolen from fanfiction? (Genuine question)

the time people started writing and posting a lot of fanfiction for the game (myself included) was before wedding episodes, back in november/december/2019 and january/2020.

they weren't even gonna make a reunion and that's what motivated us to write tons for the game. and yes, some of the things the characters said or did were a follow up to what they had said back in the villa, like bobby opening a business of his own.

HOWEVER, some of the stuff we wrote made appearances and were really specific. i'm gonna break these down into "chapters" (things i wrote in post-villa fanfics) and "asks", because... asks were answered.

chapters:

chelsea hosting a halloween reunion for all the islanders:

"Halloween reunion in the Villa, with challenges, like a mystery to resolve. There's a Escape the room challenge..."

"... The Villa's decorated with spider webs and blood splatters. Instead of the usual neon lights, we'd have skull lamps..."

"...Someone should propose, like in season one, but It should be OUR LI."

here's the link to an old reblog (the original post is from october/2019). while it wasn't halloween, the key words made an appearance on a survey, months later, and i guess "murder mystery" made the cut. common? sure. but like... wasn't the reunion gonna be a theme party they discussed in the villa? there were two options and none of them was murder mystery, right?

anyway.

priya turning into an li. kind of what everyone wanted! but back then, it was obvious they had no intentions of making her not even remotely fruity, but i guess after seeing so many people writing about it, they went with it on cmm. there were TONS of priya fics on ao3, and i guess they didn't have the time to make it happen on wedding episodes.

jo and ibrahim had broken up in every reunion story. to this day i don't know why they did it. i did it because i hate her, but jo seemed kind of perfect for rahim outside of his route.

hope and noah had broken up too, in every chapter i wrote. it seemed they had no intentions of making that happen until they saw the fics from the players.

asks:

chelsea. being the hostess of the next season, which i also said it would be cool for tim or bobby to do the same, even if it was just a drop by appearance, on separate posts. a couple of other players said chelsea would be a great s3 host, around march or april/2020. that happened.

i said it was UNFAIR for tim not to have even a look back in season 2, and that if he ever showed up again he should talk about his post-villa romance with mc. that also happened on s3. BUT I HATE HIS FACE SO MUCH, OH MY GOD-

people asked me what priya's career would be if she wasn't a real estate agent anymore, since she mentions she wanted to change career paths, and i said fashion designer and that she would have her own company.

lottie moving out of the uk. i didn't specify where, but i did say she would move because the break up would be too much for her. she would say things like "i don't see myself here anymore" while glancing at gary, implying they weren't together. she was also changing career paths and it could be related to fashion and wigs.

henrik was backpacking because if he's not with mc, it wouldn't have worked with anyone else.

the excuse i used to not insert hannah in any chapters was that she was writing her memoirs from the villa, which she did say she was going to. but i said in the post that the book would be titled "something something prairie", because it was a nice reference to an old book i heard of before, and that's very on brand for hannah. the title they went with was "love on the prairie" in cmm.

carl being into anime. i even joked he was an otaku at some point in his teen years. that was added later, on matchmaker.

mind you, i only know matchmaker stuff that people post, so i might've missed a lot of things that made the cut.

ibrahim drawing. it was definitely around feb/mar/2020 and i said the reason why he draws it's because he learned from violet man comic books and it would be nice to expand on that.

arjun and elijah were together, and were seen by fans of the show around the beach (?) holding hands, implying they were a couple. i could be mistaken about the beach, but i did say it in asks that they were seen together, because the ask was about "do you think arjun and elijah became a couple out of their routes?".

also, i'm pretty sure i've seen players writing about lucas and henrik bumping into each other on a trip, which fusebox confirmed during wedding episodes. there was also implying of them getting together in those posts, which the company left ambiguous if you weren't marrying either of them.

there was so much material at the time, and many players have left the chat since then (like, hundreds) but i'm certain multiple things have made appearances.

there was a galaxy-brain anon who said "it would be so cool to have a wedding with our li's, and get to choose our maid-of-honor", back in november/2019. i remember well because it was one of the first asks i've ever got on tumblr. mind you, players were asking for a reunion specifically, not a wedding.

nan's "show" with gary was also a headcanon of ours. i answered an ask saying it would be hilarious to see gary and nan pranking each other, inspired by a guy that does this with his grandma on instagram. i can't remember if it was an anon or a player, but someone said they should have a podcast or a youtube show, where gary gets nan's reactions and opinions. fusebox turned into a tv show but it's very specific too.

all that i wrote was posted on an old blog, which became private out of nowhere, around april/2020. there was no content that would justify the change but... it didn't matter how many requests i sent to the staff, the blog never went back to normal. eventually i couldn't even visualize it anymore so i deleted it. this is why i have the @archiveravenadottir blog, to keep big posts reblogged there.

but yeah! i also can't for the life of me quote every little thing they got from other players. and some of these seem obvious, but if they were obvious why didn't they make it canon back then? why not making the characters' realities before?

at the time i thought i should make a post about it, but i didn't want to be petty. now? now i don't care. fuck it, let's be petty!

some of these things are just too specific, and honestly i don't blame the writers, but i blame the people that decided to not give credit. not even a nod. not even a tweet.

if anyone remember more stuff from this time, because my memory is the worst, please, let us know! i'm sure we can gather more because i know tumblr wasn't their only source. reddit and twitter had a good amount of material showing up too from what i've seen people complaining at the time.
