Little theory that I dont know if it has been brought up before... paul to red bull maybe? Aside from the photo from the fan zone where there is a red bull water bottle, I saw hes sponsored by porsche, like porsche Estonia. And maybe im crazy cause i can swear theres a link between red bull and porsche (probably cause of mark webber). But it would make no sense for paul to go to red bull since they already have so many juniors and only one seat available in f1. Like theres Liam, Is*ck, pepe, tim tramnitz, oliver goethe, ayumu iwasa, arvid... way too many for just a seat. The situation isnt changing with red bull or racing bulls anytime soon in my opinion so why would paul sign with them?

okay so i have thought about this many many times and like. as much as i think rbr is a good place to be, i also think it's a horrible place to be. so many dropped juniors who are just left all alone. so many juniors who will never see a rb car (or vcarb for that matter) from the inside bcs helmut or christian or whoever's making the actual calls likes to do very irrational things. like, even if paul were to join, where would that put him in the ranks? behind max, first of all. behind perez who they enjoy keeping there for god knows what reason. behind yuki. behind daniel (?). behind liam. likely behind ayumu and is*ck – and possibly even behind arvid lindblad who i assume they will be pushing to get f1-ready as soon as possible (if he keeps this up). and as you say, they also have pepe, tim, ollie (who's been doing really well imo, idk how he's that far down the ranks but anyway) 🤷‍♀️

OKAY HEAR ME OUT HERE. here's the thought process: i was thinking about ollie in f1. stuff we love to see. then i thought about dino, and being completely heartbroken over the fact that he hasn't performed as well this season as everyone was hoping (YET !!!! still a lot left of the season, i know!!!!!!!!!). and i thought about how if there's anyone in the world i want to get an f1 seat, it's dino. sorry paul and pepe and everyone else but my swedish man........

yeah so anyway, then i went "but if ferrari doesn't have dino to push into f1 in the next 2-3 years... who will it be?" because if they wanted rob in the seat, they would've put him in already. i love him, but i don't think he will be an f1 driver anytime soon. and who else do they have? the next fda member under dino is rafa, who's doing a lovely job in freca of course, but it's still very very far away.

imagine it's 2026; lewis hamilton has retired after just one year at ferrari (fought too much with their golden child charles, or just lost the passion for racing or something); ollie bearman gets his seat. a haas seat is empty. will it go to dino, who spent one year in f2 and possibly did well? or will it go to paul aron, the boy who joined fda mid-2024, who won the f2 championship in his rookie year (or came second in his rookie season and then won in his second year), who's been a loyal and good reserve driver and also came with valuable feedback and good insights when helping out with the sim?

Le Mans vs. Daytona, Two Sides of the Endurance Racing Coin.

A bit of a belated blog on the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans, how it compares to the other major 24-hour race - the Rolex 24 at Daytona - and how IMSA and WEC differ.

First things first, sports car racing in general is at a peak right now.

The largest prototype fields in decades, interclass competition of sorts with LMDh/GTP cars on one end and Hypercars on the other, and equally diverse GT3 fields to go with it. It's not a competition between IMSA and WEC as far as I'm concerned, both series collaborated on these regulations and that has benefitted endurance racing as a whole.

That being said, I've noticed some differences between the two, and I've had some discussions with friends about it lately.

The crux is this: the Rolex 24 at Daytona is the curtain raiser for the racing season, where drivers from every discipline from Formula One to NASCAR to half the Indycar field, plus all the regular cast of characters from endurance racing come to play. It's all within the confines of a 2.5-mile oval with big grandstands and clear sightlines, and the lights are all over the track, meaning you can see all the action pretty well. It's also in Daytona Beach a few weeks ahead of the Daytona 500.

Daytona is a party, a celebration of motorsport to kick off the next season of racing.

Le Mans, meanwhile, is a beacon of history. The start-finish line is where it has always been, the Dunlop Bridge has outlasted Dunlop itself making racing tyres, and it's an old school reminder to when those types of circular bridges were all over racing. Then onto the Mulsanne, the long, dark highway, with bits of civilization interspersed with woods, a theme with continues in the back half of the track. Some corners are named after historic tracks, like Indianapolis, others are named after the marques which defined era of Le Mans history - Corvette, Porsche, and Ford in particular.

Corvette, which has dominated GT racing at Le Mans for decades now.

Porsche, which is the most successful brand at Le Mans, and

Ford, who went back-to-back-to-back-to-back in the late 60s with the GT40, and then returned with the GT1 and GTE models in more recent decades.

That dedication to history shows in the broadcast too, with the broadcast often cutting to Tom Kristensen for interviews or by harkening back to similar events in Le Mans' past. Obviously, that's something that comes up in all racing broadcasts, but it was very apparent at Le Mans this year.

For the record, I'm not saying that's bad, this blog is proof that I'm a massive nerd when it comes to racing history, and I love that, I'm just noting it's a difference.

The crowd burning a couch in celebration after the 12 Hours of Sebring? Fans celebrating the misadventures of the Sean Creech Motorsports American flag Ligier LMP2 with its many cautions at Daytona and now Watkins Glen? You don't really see that at Le Mans.

In fact, there was one very fun thing from the 2023 Le Mans that was missing this year: the Garage 56 NASCAR. Now, i understand that was a one-off thing, and I do get the impression that the hydrogen car they showed off before the race - which was numbered #24, just like the NASCAR had been - was supposed to be a G56 entry for this year but they couldn't quite get it working yet, so I know that it's a bit of an unfair criticism to levy against Le Mans.

Still, 2023 had the big Camaro memes, the V8 sound, all those Freebird on the Mulsanne edits, it made Le Mans more fun.

And of course, Le Mans is fun even without those things - ferris wheels, fireworks, and, you know, the whole twenty-four hours of motor racing thing - all make for appointment television for racing nerds like me, but it is something I've noticed coming out of the 2024 race.

So does Le Mans need to change? No, i don't think so.

I like seeing cars coming down the Mulsanne, I like seeing the Ferrari hypercar racing against Toyota in addition to all the cars that do both IMSA and WEC, I like the announcers getting increasingly delirious as it gets into the night stint, and I like the fact that Valentino Rossi is now a BMW GT3 driver who competed at Le Mans.

The Rolex 24 at Daytona is probably more fun that Le Mans and its position on the calendar probably lets it get a handful of one-off drivers that may not be able to do Le Mans, but Le Mans also attracts plenty of unique talent as well. Ferrari doesn't do IMSA, nor does Toyota, nor does Valentino Rossi.

Would I like them to? Absolutely.

Am I fine with just having two different, successful endurance racing series on either side of the Atlantic? Absolutely. It's like the modern version of CART vs. Formula One as far as I'm concerned, only this time, I'm in a position to enjoy it.

So yeah, there are some things I prefer about IMSA, but there's plenty I love about Le Mans as well.

Hell, the fact that after the sister Ferrari won last year, we got to see the #50 Ferrari of Nicklas Nielsen, Miguel Molina, and Antonio Fuoco win. Both cars have now won Le Mans, and this means that last year's Antonio Giovinazzi, and this year's Antonio Fuoco - two drivers I've followed since the mid-to-late 2010s when they were actively in the open wheel junior series - are both Le Mans winners.

That's cool. I love the fact that drivers can fulfill their dream of winning for Ferrari, not just in Formula One, but now at Le Mans too. It's a great time to see, and between this and Indycar, I'm developing a lot of hope for talented junior drivers without F1 prospects.

Hell, on that very note, Felipe Drugovich raced at Le Mans for Action Express Cadillac this year, which seems to be his first time back in a major racing series since his F2 title campaign. Glad to see him back behind the wheel, just wish it went better for him.

Anyway, this last weekend of racing was a bit of a dud for me and I find myself busy yet again, so I'll leave the blogpost here, but do let you know what you think!

Sebastian Vettel: Four-time F1 world champion 'speaking to' Mercedes boss Toto Wolff amid thoughts of return to grid

Sebastian Vettel says he is thinking about making a return to Formula 1 amid ongoing discussions with Mercedes boss Toto Wolff and the sport's other team principals.

The four-time world champion retired in 2022 after 16 seasons in F1, but has since been regularly linked with a possible return to the grid. Mercedes have a 2025 seat to fill following Lewis Hamilton's decision to join Ferrari, while Red Bull, the team Vettel won his four drivers' titles with, could also have a vacancy with Sergio Perez's contract expiring. Asked whether he is in the market for a 2025 seat, Vettel told Sky Sports News: "Well, potentially I am because I haven't got a drive, but the question is, am I looking for one? I think it depends on the package. I retired from Formula 1 not to come back, but I also did say that you never know, so I think it still stands. Obviously there's things that I miss, which is mostly the competition, and things that I don't miss, so that hasn't changed. Obviously life is very different if you're not involved, and I do enjoy that still. You never know where life is taking you, so maybe it takes me back behind the wheel, maybe it doesn't." Having earlier confirmed to Sky News that he has been "speaking to" Mercedes boss Toto Wolff, Vettel was asked whether he would be able to resist the lure of an offer from the Silver Arrows. He said: "I've had conversations with him (Wolff), not really about the seat. We did speak about the whole situation in short, as well. But I did speak to others, as well, because I'm still keeping in touch every now and then. I have some projects and ideas together with F1. We'll see if they will turn out or not. So I am staying in touch. I don't know. It has to be a couple more phone calls and conversations, I guess, to really find out a little bit more. But for sure it's one of the best seats on the grid. Performance-wise, Mercedes has a great track record, struggling a little bit in the last years, but then struggle and you're still second and third in the constructors', it's not like you're racing in no man's land."

Vettel tempted by Le Mans opportunity

If he were to return to F1, Vettel would currently only be the third-eldest driver on the grid, with the 39-year-old Hamilton and 42-year-old Fernando Alonso still performing at a high level. Asked what he has missed since hanging up his helmet, Vettel added: "The thrill, the speed. I think the competition mostly, really. Driving quick is not the only thing, but it's really the competition." Vettel recently tested the Porsche hypercar that will run in this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans race in June. The German said there's a possibility he could make his debut in the famous race. "Maybe. I don't know yet," Vettel said. "I've been testing. I was curious, so I wanted to see how it feels. It's obviously a different discipline. It's still racing, but it's a different car, different discipline. Lots of things that excite me, lots of different things, not necessarily just looking at something behind the wheel, but also outside the car. I am (tempted) and I'm not. I am obviously also looking for lots of other things and there's lots of other things that do interest me outside of racing."

'Hamilton Ferrari switch surprising but exciting'

Having shared intense world championship battles earlier in their careers, Vettel and Hamilton had developed a strong relationship by the time the former retired. With Hamilton set to follow in Vettel's footsteps by driving at Ferrari, the German admitted he was "surprised" by the switch. "I was surprised, like I guess most of us," Vettel said. "But exciting. Obviously he's looking for a new challenge, and it will be different to see him in red, in a different colour." The final two of Vettel's six seasons with Ferrari saw him drive alongside Charles Leclerc, who remains with the Italian team and will be Hamilton's teammate next year. Vettel is confident the pair will get along, but warns Ferrari boss Frederic Vasseur will face a challenge in managing their competitiveness. "Charles is good, Charles is easy," Vettel said. "He's very quick, very competitive, but so is Lewis, so it's more difficult, I guess, for the team to manage."

Scott's World of Tomorrow

It was February 1956, a young Scott Heyward had just turned 16 years old. His father, Duster Heyward of Heyward Oil is about to spoil him.

"Well son taday's yer birthday. What do ya wanna do?"

"Can we go to Disneyland Pa? They have a whole section called Tomorrowland and a race car track called Autopia."

Mr. Heyward smiles as he claps Scott's shoulder.

"Tha's mah boy. Disneyland's gonna be a great client ta have. Can't be runnin no rides without oil."

"Yeah and maybe if they have real cars there I can take some notes for the research department."

Mr. Heyward chuckles as he goes to the phone.

"Ah'll just let yer tutor know yer goin on a field trip. That oughta make 'em happy yer doin yer science project."

"Ok, Pa."

Time Skip

"Alright then son. Ah'm gonna be talk with some a Disney's people. They said some fella named Bob Gurr's gonna be walkin ya through Autopia."

Scott takes some pictures as they walk through the attraction. They get to the Monsanto Hall of Chemistry.

"Are you familiar with Monsanto, Scott?"

"Oh yes. I was only 7 when they had that explosion down in Texas City. Pa sent a crew to bring oil down to the site. He managed to get a deal where we can have a couple ships down at the port."

Bob nods. Eventually they make it to Autopia.

"Now this is what I helped design. I used what I learned from working with Ford."

"You worked with Ford? What did you do?"

"Well I helped design the Lincoln Continental. I published a few books on automotive design and that's what brought Mr. Disney's attention over to me. He wanted me to analyze the chassis for these cars. Originally designed by Hartmann Engineering, they were having issues regarding the ability to be mass produced. Too noisy and smokey with a lot of vibration. Eventually the company dropped out so I was brought on permanently to come up with a different design."

Scott's writing all of this down the best he can. Mr. Gurr's slowly turning into an idol.

"So where did you get the design for the cars? They don't look like anything I've ever seen."

"Take a closer look. If you're familiar with Porsche, I took the idea of their 54 550 Spyder and combined it with the recent custom made Italian Ferraris. Of course the Chevrolet Corvette also served as inspiration."

"Wow."

Bob continues telling his story. Scott listens to every word including everything about engineering he has yet to learn.

"What make are these cars now?"

"Currently these are the Mark II's. I had to fix the chassis so they can accommodate a sturdier, smoother-running engine. We've been getting a lot of youngsters so it was necessary to add booster seats and extensions on the peddles. I just finished a prototype for the Mark III and already started work on the Mark IVs"

"Why? What's wrong with these models?"

"Longevity and ease of repair. With how popular this attraction is getting it's only a matter of time before these cars will need repairing. Every month we're learning something new about what people like and don't like about the car. Just goes to show that even when a product is a success, there's still a lot that needs to be done to perfect it."

Scott writes this down as Bob finishes talking.

"Would you like to ride in one of these, Scott?"

"Yes! I'd love to."

Bob chuckles as they wait in line to ride in one of the cars.

Time Skip

"How was yer trip son?"

"I loved it Pa. Mr. Gurr let me take so many pictures and showed me all of Tomorrowland."

Mr. Heyward smiles as they make their way back to Texas. Scott would recite his notes and Bob's story. His father could only nod along as he never really got into the science side of business.

"Well Ah bet yer science project'll turn out real good."

"Oh yeah Pa. Until science finds a better way, everything needs oil. Even the rockets."

"Thatta boy. Yer gonna be takin Heyward Oil inta space."

Scott smiles and sits back in his seat. He starts to fantasize about making his own world of tomorrow.

So I was having a think about, in my opinion, who the best wec trios are. Just trios though in Hypercar/LMP1. I might add GT classes later but I'm not as familiar with them.

In no particular order, I have:

- André, Benoît and Marcel; the classic Audi trio for 7 yrs (2 years outside of wec) and these guys are genuinely inseparable, brothers if u will

- Timo, Mark and Brendon; they were monsters in that Porsche, like they literally won 4 or 5 races in a row but shame they didn't win LMS as a 3

- Kazuki, Séb and Anthony; maybe have been unlucky at the start with Toyota but they still got a lot of wins, just annoying that either Anthony or Kazuki missed some races some years

- Kamui, José and Mike; they won a lot together and can really see they all genuinely get along, sad that José is no longer there

- Séb, Brendon and Ryō; even though this year they have had some car struggles compared to Porsche and Ferrari, these guys were always kinda up their just getting on with it and all 3 of them just get each other

And my new addition to the list:

- Kévin, André and Laurens; although it has only been 2 years (and only 2 😭) as a trio these guys have just gelled so well, they all have their roles as a team which just works, they get along so well and have banter together (mostly at Laurens from André, Kev just watching everything happen). So I don't think this trio or even friendship will be a 2 year thing (I fucking hope so for my sake 😭)

For André being mentioned twice and going off what he said on Laurens podcast (which seems ages ago) about how his relationship with Ben and Marcel is always going to be different from any teammates he's going to have (even JEV) ,as the were teammates for years and won LMS together and André and Ben have a lot of history together and is probably the only one who truly knows André (maybe James as well), I can tell that the relationship with Laurens and Kevin is going along that path, now if they were teammates longer maybe if would've come to be the same but who knows.

Lewis Hamilton has given his backing to Sebastian Vettel as he fielded questions over who could replace him at Mercedes for the 2025 season, saying he would "love" to see the German make a Formula 1 comeback.

Re: conspicuous consumption.

Part of why it's always a Lamborghini is that Ferrari won't sell you a car if you're tacky. I don't know exactly how it works, and none of it is exactly enforceable once you get to the secondary market, but Ferrari dealers do a fairly extensive vetting process to ensure that you're the "right kind of person to be seen in a Ferrari", rather than some nouveau-riche Crypto dood. They'll also try to sue you if you modify your Ferrari in a way they don't like.

Lamborghini, on the other hand, will sell to anyone with enough cash, and semi-intentionally cultivates a niche market of these type of people.

As for why these guys don't buy Porsches or Mercedes, I have no idea. Air-cooled early '80s 911 Turbos are one of the coolest things ever though, and they're definitely missing out.

As for Rolex, that one's straightforward conspicuous consumption, just happens to be the only luxury watch brand that most people recognize. What's funny is that in the '80s, they were just tool watches for professionals, and cost like $1200 adjusted for inflation. That's why all kinds of random middle class boomers have a vintage Rolex lying around somewhere. They really weren't *that* Veblen until the Swiss changed the way watches were marketed.

Each poll will last a day, with multiple polls going every day (at least for the start). "oh, you guys have cars? that's cool! I don't have one, 'cause I ride a motorcycle. :D"

The team immediately whips their head in disbelief to look at Bokuto, who's currently topless and confused at the stares.

"You... you have a motorcycle?" Sakusa asks with uncertainty, pointing a finger at him.

"Seriously, Bokkun? I don't believe ya one bit. You, out of everyone? No way," Atsumu laughs, pulling over a t-shirt on top of him.

"Woah, seriously Bokuto-san? You have a motorcycle? How come? We've never seen it, and we haven't seen you on it!" Hinata questions, and the whole team agrees.

In the span of a moment, from his overly big and messy gym bag, he pulls out a car— no, a key. A black, motorcycle key. with a smidge of red shaped like a shield at the top, silver borders with a strike in between, and the word DUCATI written neatly.

And as much as the men don't want to believe it, they're now suddenly faced to.

"Tadaa! Isn't she just gorgeous?" Bokuto exclaims proudly.

"Isn't... Akaashi-san a boy though?" Hinata asks confusedly.

Practice is over and they're all in front of the gym, seeing how Akaashi parks the bike in front of them, dusting his coat off and fixing his glasses as he makes his way towards him. He politely bows to them.

"Akaashi Keiji, editor in shonen manga magazines in a major publishing company. Bokuto-san had asked me to bring his bike over, so here it is." Akaashi greets calmly, glancing at everyone's faces, smiling a little at seeing Hinata.

"I-I meant the bike. Not Akaashi, but even though it's still true! both things. they're both gorgeous." Bokuto exclaims, hiding his embarrassment and stuttering, his cheeks warming up. He gently pecks Akaashi on the cheek, quite literally shocking the whole team (he forgot to tell them he's dating keiji) and asks once again.

"So, who wants a ride first !!?"

"w-woah!! Bokuto-san, so fast!!!" Shoyo yells, clutching onto Bokuto even tighter. Bokuto leans front, increasing speed, fully focused on the road, not a single sound coming out of him. Shoyo's eyes sparkle at his energetic, loud and owl-like senpai, currently very quiet, serious and very cool looking.

After a quick round around a nearby highway, they're back again In front of the gym, the volleyball team surprised at seeing Shoyo in one piece. (bokuto obliged them to wait, akaashi kept them entertained.)

Shoyo gets off the bike, taking off the helmet, wobbly making his way to the men staring at him, arms dangling off his shoulders, almost able to puke. His hair is a mess after wearing the helmet, while Bokkun's hair looks even spikier. He grips on Atsumu's sleeve and almost collapses, clearing his throat and looking up at him— big shiny stars in his eyes.

"that was super cool!! You have to get on, Bokuto-san is an amazing driver!!! You might not believe me, but he was insanely quiet, he looked so cool and serious too!! I really, really didn't expect him to drive like that!!" Shoyo exclaims, looking over at the other men staring at him in disbelief.

Atsumu's eyes widen and he scoffs, taking Shoyo's hands off his sleeve, making his way towards owl head. "No way, Shoyo can't be serious? You? Quiet? Yeahhhhhhh... Can't believe 'at. Give me a ride and we'll see, yeah?"

Is kurama's stepfather rich?

Hard to tell. He's the president of a small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) where Shiori Minamino works part-time, and Kurama joins after high school. However, Togashi has never mentioned what kind of business he runs.

For example, Togashi family has a paper store in Shinjo, Yamagata. They aren't rich, but have led a good life. On the other hand, the family of his wife Naoko Takeuchi had a jewelry store. She'd already had a Porsche before becoming well-known as the author of Sailor Moon.

Kurama lives in a nice house, attends a good private high school, gave his mom a honeymoon trip to Europe... they seem to have an income of a middle, maybe upper middle class. Mr. Hatanaka looks like a nice and simple man, I don't think he's the rich type, going out there driving a Ferrari. The couple also wanted a small and intimate wedding ceremony, and only invited close relatives.

Mr. Hatanaka seems cooler in the anime version. I also like that in the manga he was very worried when Shiori was in the hospital.

BTW, I'm also interested in the biological father, Mr. Minamino. What did he do? Did Shiori receive any Widowed Parent's Allowance? How did he die? So many questions.....!!!!!

"Wonder what they got tucked away in there," Jimin lightly chuckled, only earning a side-eye from Yoongi who simply laughed under his breath realising his friend would probably never change. 

Once a thief, always a thief.

"Let's just focus on finding Soyeon for now." "I don't know.." Jimin mumbled, glancing up at Taehyung, "You don't wanna pick up something for the wife?" Taehyung huffed a laugh, his eyes leaving the mansion to peek at him. Not actually taking his propose seriously. "That's cute.. But just keep it simple."

"Right. Simple." Jimin sighed disappointed and dusted off the work clothing he was wearing over his smoking. A precautious measure so their outfits wouldn't get dirty and raise suspicion at the party. "I'll be on my way then to sneak in with my charms. You two wait for my sign."

The two hummed, watching him walk down the path between the trees they had come from. Their gaze focusing back at the sun-colored mansion then.

The plan was for Jimin to use his skills and wits to get inside and schmooze his way right through that party, change security system up a bit, unlock the window in that office room and let them in. Solozzo would most likely be there and recognise Yoongi, so he didn't have any other option but to sneak in.

Half an hour of waiting later, the older guy lowered the binoculars, getting tired of watching luxury caey one after another driving up the serpentine road to the mansion.

"You think they caught him?" "Nah, don't think so." "Maybe he got lost then?" Taehyung eyed him with an arched brow, knowing he couldn't possiby mean it as Jimin would always memorize the whole map before entering a building.  "What if -" Yoongi's worries were cut off by Taehyung lightly hitting his chest, catching his attention. "There," he said, motioning at the side towards a balcony. Yoongi heaved his binoculars back and indeed, a light was going on and off in the room. Jimin's sign. "See?"

Yoongi rolled his eyes as he zipped Taehyung's work clothing up. "Just try to keep your tux clean." Taehyung only huffed. Unzipping the collar again as soon as Yoongi turned around. And they got off the rock and into the scrub. The setting sun bathing the building in the distance and scenery into a warm atmosphere.

They made their way through the high grass, eventually reaching the edge of the cliff the mansion was on. It was only a few meters between them and the stone fence surrounding the building that they had to climb. And they had almost reached the top when Yoongi's hand grabbed Taehyung's shoulder, preventing him from going further. "Hold up. I hear someone," he whispered.

And indeed, only a few seconds later the younger guy was also able to hear voices. Two men, probably guards, were speaking in italian further away. Taehyung hadn't heard them earlier, but Yoongi did. Listening intensely despite not understanding anything. They carefully peeked their heads out, seeing the guards holding up some big machine guns, entering a side building then. They waited a few seconds more, making sure the coast was clear. "Okay, we're good." "Damn, did you see him? That guy was carrying some serious heat," Taehyung said as they heaved themselves over the stone, not hiding how stunned he was. He patted his holster under the working attire then, making sure his magnum was still there. "Good thing we came prepared."

Yoongi nodded quietly, shifting his katana's strap on his shoulder. His gaze wandering up to the beautiful building in front of them.

They reached underneath he balcony of the office room, it not being too high as it was on ground level. Taehyung gave Yoongi a leg-up to climb up first before grabbing his reached out hand and climbing up himself. And just as planned the balcony door was unlocked, Taehyung about to enter when Yoongi stopped him once again. "What?" With a look of appeal, Yoongi unzipped his work clothes and took them off. Revealing his tuxedo. Reminding him to do the same. And Taehyung snickered, realising he'd almost entered like this. Quickly, he got rid off the blue work clothing as well, throwing it behind the bushes underneath them.

They entered the dark room then, squinting their eyes to get adjusted when recognising a figure behind the broad wooden desk. "Jimin?" The desk light got dramatically switched on, revealing Jimin sitting in a big puffy armchair with a mischievous grin. "You know what I love about parties with rich crooks? No one expects to get their pockets picked." A golden chain fell from his fingers, dangling and shimmering under the light. The two sighing almost simulataneously. "You really can't help it, huh?" "I could. But it's just too funny messing with rich people," he chuckled and got up. "Let's try to do what we're here for and get outta here instead." "Yeah, ugh about that.." Jimin's voice trailed off as he led them out, cautiously not to stumble into anyone. Yoongi swallowed, not liking his tone. "W-why? What about that?" "C'mon, lemme show you something."

They walked past long carpeted hallways with paintings and statues until reaching the railing of the upper floor balcony, mingling unnoticed with the other guest scattered up there. Looking down at the grand hall where the rest was gathered at. Drinking and laughing over the live band's music.

Jimin pointed at two men who were awkwardly standing at the hall's front, looking into their filled glasses. "Cops. I saw them when I arrived. They must be high-ranking ones from the looks of it. And then this-" His finger wandered behind them. "See that door?" They nodded. A tall guard was blocking its entry. "According to the blueprint it's a small room for stuff members, you know like a break room with no windows. But it got that goon guarding it.." He glanced at them with raised brows. "Suspicious isn't it?" Yoongi's jaw tightened, getting what Jimin was implying. "You think she's there?" He shrugged. "She might. I definitely caught our Mr. Sleezy junior coming out of there and whispering something to the guard's ear. The only way to find out is to get in there."

"You said no windows?" Taehyung questioned, taking a thinking expression. "No windows. But right behind is the wine cellar.." He eyed Yoongi with a suggestive look and it didn't take long for Yoongi to respond with a knowing one.  "But how do I get into the kitchen? The staff will get alerted if they see a random man there and we didn't bring any disguises. And I'd need to also get her out without them noticing." "Jeez, you guys act like you've never spent time in custody," Jimin sighed disappointedly, "If you want something dirty done then you wait.." The others exchanged a smirk. "..for lights out." "Exactly. "Where's the electrical panel for this place?" Descretedly, he pulled the blueprint out of his suit's pocket and showed them a spot on it. "Up here. So we gotta climb up there and kill the lights." "And get inside and past the cooks and servants in the dark." "There'll surely be an emergency generator though." They nodded at Taehyung's concern. Yoongi inhaled sharply. "That'll give us a few seconds of darkness.. It should still work." "You sure?" He nodded with detemination. "Yes. Meaning I'll have to be right next to the door when the lights go out though." "Except there's no way we can get that close without being noticed. There's no one else standing there in a four-metre-radius." A waitress came in that moment, offering them antipasti on a tablet, which only Jimin accepted. "Would you focus?" Taehyung mumbled under his breath as the waitress left to serve the guests next to them. Jimin rolled his eyes, stuffing the small snack into his mouth, nodding at the direction of the waitress. "A waiter wouldn't get noticed." Yoongi's eyes lit up. "That would work. I could sneak into the kitchen from the backdoor then."

"That will work." Jimin clapped his hands excitedly. "Alright, change of plans. Yoongi, you sneak into the wine cellar as a waiter and I'll get to the breaker room, kill the power in the kitchen right on time for you and Soyeon to get out of there." "Alright," Yoongi continued, turning to Taehyung. "And you head to the front, keep an eye on that door, okay? Let us know if anything, uh.. odd goes down." The younger guy nodded vigorously. "Before we go," Jimin said then, grabbing into his pocket. His hand opened then, revealing three in-ear-transmitters on his palm. "We still need these." Everyone picked one, shoving it into their ear before exchanging glances. "We got this."

It wasn't hard for Yoongi to find a waiter to exchange clothes with. Waiting at the kitchen's backdoor for someone to come out for a smoke was an easy bet. And indeed, only a few minutes later a waiter came out to lighten a cigarette. Giving Yoongi the opportunity to jump off the canopy and knock him down, dragging him behind a storage room.

"You good?" Jimin's voice echoed through the in-ear. Yoongi huffed, shuffling into the dress shirt. "Yeah.. these clothes are just a bit too big for me." "Well, that's the style these days anyway.. I'm almost at the power room. Tae? You good?" "Yeah, not much movement here."

Taking a breath, he entered the busy kitchen, grabbing a silver tablet from the side and mixing with the rushing waiters as if he belonged there. And as expected, everyone was in such a hurry and stressed that no one noticed the new face in their colleague's clothes.  The kitchen was big, perhaps bigger than a restaurant's. Chefs, souschefs and simple cooks yelling among each other while preparing dishes. He dodged a waitress with a plate of soup who almost bumped into him when Taehyung spoke up from the front of the ball room. "I just came across that Solozzo guy. He was talking to some guy about being on stand-by for the boss' 'big reveal'." "Just as we expected, the necklace." Yoongi's jaw clenched until Taehyung continued with irritation in his voice, confounding Jimin's words. "I don't think he meant the necklace though.." "Huh, you sure? What else?" "Dunno. But he instructed the guy to be cautious so it wouldn't escape.. Guys, I think Soyeon's actually the big reveal. Or her and the necklace. But she's definitely involved."

Yoongi's eyes widened. Of course. Now everything made sense. "He wants to expose the thief's identity and also ridicule the cops. That's why they got invited. To show he managed getting his necklace back without the police's help." "Damn, that's twisted." "And narcissistic." "But she wouldn't be the one getting in trouble," Taehyung pointed out then, "While he actually kidnapped her. Isn't he scared of exposing his own crime?" "A rich guy like that? He'd surely pay off police and anyone else if someone found out she wasn't there on her own will." Yoongi almost collided with a cook who was hurriedly passing a saucier to a colleague. Everyone was so busy and rushing around that no one paid attention to the waiter who sneaked into the wine cellar. 

The wine cellar was bigger than expected, similar to the kitchen. Dim lights and lowered temperature for the sensitive liquids, along with stacks and stacks of dark barrels and lined up bottles in shelves, creating an eery atmosphere.

According to the blueprint, the wall to the left was the one connected to the room they wanted to get in. He got his sword out from the back of the dress shirt, the large fit having been quite practical after all, and began to cut a small hole in the wall so that he could look inside carefully, in case there was another security guard lurking behind it.

The room on the other side had a much simpler interior, contrary to the extravagantly decorated rest of the house. Probably because it was supposed to only be a staff members room. He couldn't recognise much else though, so he enlarged the hole. Hearing a quiet: "What the hell?" from the other side which made him instantly smile in relief. Jimin's intuition had been right again. "Soyeon?" "Yoongi?" 

It was silent for a moment, until a feline eye suddenly appeared in front of the hole. Looking right back at him. "How.. What are you doing here?" Soyeon whispered, beaming with joy when unexpectedly seeing him there. "What do you think I'm doing?" he scoffed playfully, an amused grin spreading on his features then. "Go aside, I'll make it bigger so you can fit through." She quickly stepped away, watching the hole crumble more and growing bigger in no time. Dust rose, clouding her vision for a moment and she coughed. Soon recognising Yoongi's silhouette when it began settling. He slid his sword back to its sheath, standing there with a lopsided smile on his face. "Hey, there." Soyeon's lips instantly tucked into a smirk and she folded her arms. "Missed me so much, had to chase me all the way to Italy, huh?" "Something like that," he said, the smile never leaving his face when noticing something sparkling around her neck then. And he frowned. "You wear the necklace?"

Her eyes widened and she looked down, having completely forgotten about it. "Y-yeah, they also gave me new clothes and even did my make-up, as you see.." She tugged at the long black dress and he had to quickly look away when feeling himself staring. Her appearance not only making his cheeks flush. "I don't know why exactly though, I didn't understand a word as they spoke Italian to me.." He hummed, his theory only varifying when he watched her taking off the piece of jewelry and tossing it back into the room. Looking at her dumbfounded to which she simply shrugged. "What? Obviously I don't want it!"

"Guys, I don't wanna interrupt the cute get-together, but something's happening," Taehyung's voice hushed on the other line of the transmitter, "Our guy got on stage and started delivering a speech. Something about wanting to be the one hosting this year for a special reason.. and Solozzo is going in the direction of the door now." "Crap," Yoongi muttered to which Soyeon looked confused. "We gotta go." He grabbed her wrist and led her to the cellar's door, opening it carefully and glancing through the crack. Trying remembering the route back. "Alright, Yoongi, I'm at the switch. You ready?" Yoongi breathed, having spotted the backdoor around the corner from the grocery boxes. "Yeah, let's ruin this jerk's party." 

In an instant, everything turned black. Voices becoming louder and panicked as Yoongi tucked Soyeon past everyone, making sure not to bump into anyone by walking near cabinets and they reached the exit right when the generator switched the lights back on. The two disappearing outside.

Breathing heavily from the adrenaline rush, she propped her hand against the wall. "Damn, that was quite risky!"  He nodded, still holding her wrist. "We're not done yet. Still have to make it out of the property. Okay?" She nodded, catching her breath again and Yoongi tapped at the in-ear. "Guys, how's it looking?" "I'm on my way to the meeting place," Jimin announced. "Well, as for me.." Taehyung whispered, "I'm quietly leaving the hall. Trying getting to the front door. Solozzo just interrupted the speech by whispering something in his ear. I think we all know what. So prepare for sht to go down real quick and them locking everything up." Yoongi hummed. "Alright, going to the meeting place then. Be quick." He turned his focus to Soyeon then. "How well can you climb?" Her eyes widened in alert. "Wh- not very. Why?" He gave her an apologetic look. "I fear we have to. It's only a few meters though." Leading her to the stone fence where he and Taehyung had previously climbed up from, he swung his legs over it. Waiting for her to follow.

Soyeon gulped, taking a look down before backing off. "I know it seems high, but we don't have much time left," he softly spoke up with an apologetic look. "You can do this, okay?" And she bit her lips, nodding. Knowing someone might catch them soon if they didn't hurry. So she gathered the dress' long fabric in her hands, making a knot to shorten it and allow her getting over the fence easier. With a deep breath, she grabbed it's edge as tightly as she could and climbed down. It was indeed only a few meters and yet it felt like a long way to go. Carefully, she set her feet on wherever they touched and followed him. Regretting not having taken off the high heels.

Suddenly they heard someone roaming the area above them. Yelling. Most likely guards looking for them. Soyeon's fingers clutched harder into the rocks as she did her best to keep herself up and not lose balance. The voices soon disappeared and Yoongi gave her a sign to continue.

They reached the end of the cliff, Yoongi being the first to touch ground again. Holding his hands out for her to grab and pulling her up with force. Causing her to collide with his chest and both stumbled, landing on the grass. For a moment they groaned in pain before bursting out laughing. And they quickly got up, brushing the dirt off the clothes when more shouts and noises came from inside the property. And they hid in the high grass, stealthing their way to the front. Tall plants covering them from the sight of the street when Yoongi took a look through the bars of the entrance gate. His eyes spotting the silver mercedes Jimin had hotwired to use for his entrance among the other high-class cars. It was still parked there but no sight of the other and he began worrying, wondering where the two were. The in-ear didn't seem to work either as he was outside and most likely out of its radius. He went closer, seeing the guards in the forecourt were also running into the building to see what was happening inside. Giving him the opportunity to draw his sword and slicing the metal bars, pushing it wide open. They entered the property once again, hurrying to the mercedes while ducking behind the parked cars.

"Stay here and get down," he instructed her then in a low voice when she slid inside the backseat. She grabbed his arm though, her eyes bewildered. "Where are you going?" He sighed, releasing her hand from its grip. "My friends are inside there. I should go check why they're taking so long." "Wait, your friends are actually here? Taehyung and.. Jimin?" He nodded, seeing her brows raising as she sank more into her seat. "Why are they.. why are you..?" She tried comprehending when gunshots were heard from inside the building, causing them both to tense up and look at the direction of the building. It wasn't hard to guess who they were aimed for. His jaw tightened and he swallowed. Brown irises falling back to her with apprehension. "Don't worry, okay?" She nodded and he gave her a small smile before tightening the grip around his sword. Jogging towards the entrance when the door suddenly flew open. Seeing none other than Taehyung and Jimin running out of it while shooting behind them.

"Run, run, run!" "Crap!"

They all ran back to the silver car, reaching it when a bunch of guards appeared at the doorframe, shooting at them like mad. Hitting not only theirs but also neighboring cars, breaking the rare window of a yellow ferrari. "There goes the insurance," Jimin chuckled as he took the driver's seat and started the engine. Taehyung following suit into the passenger seat while Yoongi went to his usual spot in the back, next to Soyeon who was crouching in fear of getting hit by a random bullet. The tires squeaked when Jimin floored the gaspedal and they dashed out of the gates and down the road. Curving every serpentine in a dangerously sharp angle, throwing them from one side to another. Soyeon's elbow accidentally hitting Yoongi's rip at one point.

"Are they behind us?"

"I can see one -" A bullet hit the trunk, cutting off Taehyung. And scowl spread over his eyes as he turned in his seat, leaning out of the window. "Not for long though. Hold the car steady!" he yelled. Jimin huffed, overtaking a truck. "That's easier said then done!" The car swayed again when another bullet almost hit the side-mirror. "Try for two seconds!" And he did. Allowing Taehyung to fire three precise shots, audibly hitting the pursuer. The car behind them swerved, spinning out and leaving it's lane before crushing into the trench on the side of the road. And he fell back to his seat with a content grin. Jimin errupting into a fit of laughs as they left the country road and entered the highway, heading north towards the city. "Damn, that was fun! I forgot how much fun this is!" "You idiot almost got us killed," Taehyung groaned, throwing him an annoyed glare. "I did not. It's not my fault this guy suddenly turned around the corner right when I got out of the vent!" "Why were you there anyway?" His friend rolled his eyes. "It was the fastest way back from the power room, duh." And Soyeon observed them bewilderedly as they joked and teased. It was a hairbreadth escape and they were just laughing it off like it was nothing. "You guys are really used to that kind of stuff, huh?" she faintly giggled. Rising from her crouched position to straighten herself again. "You could say so."

Yoongi shrugged nonchalantly, a small grin on his lips, making her laugh under her breath. She leaned forward then, peeking her head between the two in the front. "I remember you, you're the doctor's husband," she smiled and pointed at Taehyung, her head then switching to Jimin. "But we haven't met yet, I've only heard of you." Jimin gave her a brief smile before focusing back on the road. "Only good stuff I hope!" "Of course," she grinned and sat back. Dragging out a sigh then when peeking at Yoongi who was quietly staring outside. Deep in thoughts as it seemed. The airstream tousing his long dark waves. "Seriously, I can't thank y'all enough.. I don't know how to make it up to you." She didn't know why those strangers helped her. Hell, she didn't even know why Yoongi even still bothered. He was often still a mystery to her. And yet he and his friends risked so much for her. And her hand covered his which was laying on his lap. Giving him a gentle smile when he perked up at her touch and looked at her. Returning the smile.

"Food. Food is always a good way," Taehyung grinned, when eyeing Yoongi from the rare view mirror. Winking at him. "But it was nothing, seriously. Don't worry. We've been doing this kind of stuff all the time." "And besides.." Jimin slid his hand into his blaze's inner pocket. Revealing the goldchain he had taken from that rich lady. "I did get my souvenir. Bella's gonna love it."

I made an obscure joke about British electrical systems in cars that only people familiar with vintage Lotus, Jaguars, Triumphs, etc would probably get.

So, probably no one that follows me.

And I'm just giggling all alone to myself.

My dad had one customer with a Lotus and he almost told him to take it somewhere else.

Growing up around American mechanics obsessed with muscle cars it was important to roast foreign cars. A rite of passage, if you will.

To my dad's disappointment, I still had a Lamborghini Countach and a Ferrari Testarossa on my wall.

I did end up appreciating Corvettes and Camaros when I got older. Mainly because I was able to actually ride in them. The noise is like a hundred bears growling at you from every direction. Which is super neat in small doses. Though I don't know how my brother drives around like that all the time.

My dad also had a customer with a white De Tomaso Pantera. But I don't think he ever got to work on that.

We got to "visit" the car. But the owner rarely drove it so I remember being a little kid and just kinda staring at it—wondering why it was a big deal. My dad would just say, "It's really expensive so don't touch."

Our former next-door neighbor had a Super Stock drag racing car that he built himself. That was like 10,000 bears growling at you from every direction. It was basically as fast as the Tesla Plaid without the whole "street legal" thing going for it. I got to sit in it a bunch of times with the engine revving. But it could only be driven on the drag strip. Oh, and you had to get into the car through the window like the Duke boys.

And my favorite car experience was when I rode in a 1980s Porsche 911. A friend of my uncle owned it and gave all of us kids a ride. He drove me around on some very hilly and dark backroads. Looking back, it probably would have been safer during the daytime. I'm pretty sure the speed limit was 25 and we were going above 80. I was used to cars that only went fast in a straight line. So when he took a curve at a million miles an hour and I was pinned to the door, it felt more like a roller coaster than a car ride. That thing stuck to the road like it had duct tape for wheels.

What was I talking about?

And that's why Lucas Electric caused so many British cars to have sucky wiring.
