⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘
SO, thinking of Velaryon! Reader who is...
The youngest daughter of Rhaenys and Corlys, born around the same time as Jace and Aemond.
Her egg never hatched in the cradle, so it was assumed that she would succeed Corlys as the next Sea Snake and become the Lady of the Tides, seeing as Laenor would become King Consort and Leana was now a Princess.
However, some other factors that need to be taken into account are;
King Viserys sees the birth of a daughter so close to the birth of the two boys as a sign, another reason to further unite the two great houses (especially after the rumors surrounding the dark-haired grandson of his) so he proposes another marriage. This time, the girl is to be raised amongst both boys and allowed to choose between them once they all come of age.
(The reason I didn't mention Baela is bc Viserys atp wouldn't be that into marrying his line into Daemons line lol.)
Corlys is salty and refutes at first, bc look at how Rhaenyra and Laenors marriage is going, not to mention Daemon and Laena. Rhaenys, on the other hand, convinces him to agree because either way, their daughter ends up a princess, or even better, a queen.
AND
Corlys ain't into the matriarch idea.
AND
Laenor is currently his direct heir, so logically, his son would be the next Lord of Driftmark.
So, Corlys holds off on naming her heir for as long as he possibly can.
This is where things begin to go downhill...
Naturally, the three kids all grow up amongst each other, all of them being told that at one point, Reader would marry one of the boys and either rule driftmark or become queen.
This feeds into the animosity between Rhaenyra and Alicent and, in turn, Aemond and Jace.
Rhaenyra is urging Jace to bond with Reader to 'save her' from the Hightowers clutches. Not to mention how much she admires Readers' determination, will, and intelligence. She thinks Reader would be a good queen one day (I HC that she sees herself in Reader lol)
Alicent could honestly care less at the beginning, but as soon as Aemond begins making snide comments about Aegon being king, she begins to urge him to pursue Reader and become the Ruler of Driftmark. A, futile, attempt to turn his attention away from the iron throne, seeing as he always had the intention to marry Reader, with or without his mothers interference.
Both boys, therefore, form some sort of affection for Reader.
Jace is indifferent at first. He believes the reader is pretty and admires her intelligence and wit but does not particularly enjoy the thought of being forced into a marriage.
Eventually, these feelings change, and he becomes devoted. He completely adores her, as does the rest of his family. He idolizes her, worships her, and is now vying for her love and affection just as much as Aemond. He knows the moment he spoke his wish for her hand, it would be his, being the Kings favorite did have perks, but he would rather wait for her to return the feelings. He would hate nothing more than her being miserable in an arranged marriage with him.
Aemond, however, is immediately infatuated. Neither of them have dragons, so it must be fate! He always follows her around like a puppy, and they often study together. Wherever she goes, Aemond follows. Seeing as Reader spends most of her time preparing for her, inevitable, rise to power, Aemond also begins to learn the ways of the court and how royalty should behave.
As they grow and time passes, his pure childhood love and adoration festers into obsession and, much like Jace, utter devotion.
He believes that Reader belongs to him, just as he belongs to her. Why else would the gods bind them in such a way? He believes that the reason they don't have dragons is because they were meant for something greater than dragonriding! They were meant to rule, conquer the nobles, and charm the smallfolk. They were meant to bring about a new era of Targaryens, ones who were more than powerful enough without dragons.
(Yeah. He's like double the psycho he is in the show lol.)
That's how the boys feel about everything, Now let's take a glimpse into Readers mind...
Now, her whole life, Reader is constantly being told by everyone,
"You're going to be a great Sea Snake, just like your father!"
"You'll make a fine Queen one day, better than any we've had in ages, I reckon!"
"You and the Prince (either one lol) make such a handsome couple, I'm sure your children will be very blessed with looks!"
In her youth, when she's innocent and naive, (until she's abt 6) she's just confused. She's her fathers heir, isn't she? Why isn't she titled yet? Why does she have to marry one of her snot nosed nephew/cousin in order to gain one?? (As if she's also not a snot nosed brat at the time lol)
She doesn't question her parents because she trusts them, and believes that maybe she's not old enough, or trained enough, and therefore dedicated the rest of her spare time to studying, training and practicing.
And then Laena dies.
The Driftmark incident happens, but the only reason Aemond claimed Vhaegar was because Reader was trying to claim her, and he followed her and was just there for emotional support.
After Aemonds eye was cut, Reader distances herself from both boys.
She feels guilty about Aemond losing his eye.
She resents Lucerys and, by extension, Jace, as she believes it was a completely unacceptable reaction on their part.
Rhaenys and Corlys are PISSED.
"What were you thinking!?"
"You knew Rhaena was supposed to claim her!"
Reader is also big mad.
"Leana was my sister, I had just as much of a claim to Vhaegar as Rhaena!"
"Why must I be the one with nothing!? No title, no land, no dragon, NOT EVEN A SHIP!!"
Rhaenys explains that they were just waiting for the right moment, between Laenas passing and Corlys' declining health. (Excuses lol)
Aka, she's trying to convince Corlys to wait and see who Reader decides to marry before naming an heir.
Corlys, on the other hand, is fine with waiting bc being forced to choose between a bastard and a hightower as the heir to driftmark is agonizing. (He's legit considering Vaemond atp)
Anyways after that, everyone kind of splits up.
Jace goes with his mom to Dragonstone.
Reader doesn't see him again until his blood is being questioned, but does write to him after he persistently apologizes.
Reader stays at driftmark and begins to learn how to sail and command a fleet.
(The only reason Corlys agrees is bc he wants to quiet the rumors of why he hasn't named her as his heir yet.)
Aemond stays in kings landing, and the two reconcile only because he broke down and begged her not to hate him for being deformed, and she couldn't handle him thinking she'd toss him aside for that. (By letter ofc)
Then Laenor 'dies.'
Everyone is upset, distraught, mourning, you get the gist.
Reader, however upset she may or may not be, is also ecstatic.
She sees this as another chance.
A chance for her to finally get a dragon.
A chance for her to prove herself to her father and finally be named his heir!!
After all, no one else is in her way anymore... (so she thinks)
So, once again, while everyone is busy at the funeral, Reader sneaks off to claim Seasmoke.
Alone, this time.
However, that doesn't work (bc he's not dead lol) so she completely breaks down.
Everyone thinks it's bc both her siblings just died but it's actually because she feels worthless and pathetic.
Existential crisis lol.
Who comforts her? Jace.
They bond over losing Laenor, and Reader has a manic epiphany.
Maybe Aemond was right. Maybe the gods refused to give her a dragon because she was meant for greater things.
After all, Jace was a dragonrider through and through. She knows that he despises his princely duties and would be happy if he could have the title and power of the throne without the politics and mind games.
He would much rather burn and fly than rub shoulders and sign papers.
Then she starts PLOTTING.
If her parents refused to name her heir, even after Laenors death, then she would go above them.
She'd show them she was worthy. She didn't need them anymore.
She didn't want them anymore.
After all, why would she choose to be a Lady when she could be a Queen?
If she marries Jace, she has no doubt that he would allow her to handle everything. He'd be nothing more than the face and name. She'd be the one making the calls.
He'd be the axe, and she'd be the executioner.
She waits to inform everyone of her decision, though, seeing as they are in mourning, lol.
She doesn't even tell Jace, but she does become more affectionate and romantic with him.
Jace is just happy she's finally giving him attention and spending time with him (poor bby).
Aemonds too busy plotting how him and Reader are going to usurp the throne to realize she was pulling away from him. (Delulu)
Time passes, Viserys is wilting and the dance is approaching.
Readers making moves to secure her place as Jaces Queen, befriending both the smallfolk and the nobles and shadowing Otto Hightower and Larys Strong as much as possible. (Unlikely friendship lol, they're all ambitious, cunning, and know how to play the long game. Reader admires their ability to manipulate everyone to their advantage, Otto is under the impression she will be his future granddaughter in law, and Larys believes she can benefit him one way or another in the future.)
Alicent and Otto are beginning to groom Aegon to be King.
Rhaenyra marries Daemon and awaits her succession.
Corlys is severely ill and is finally about to name Reader his heir.
Then the gun goes off.
Everyone gathers in kings landing at Vaemonds behest to discuss the legitimacy of Jace and Luke.
(Vaemond and Reader do not get along bc they both think their the rightful heir to the Driftwood throne.)
Reader is a whole badass now. Smart, pretty, strong and manipulative AS FUCK!
She's grown to simultaneously love and despise both her nephew and cousin after everything that has happened.
Regardless, she decides that once the whole legitimacy dispute was settled, she'd announce her choice to everyone present.
That obviously doesn't happen because of Rhaenys announcing Lucerys and Jacaerys' engagements to Rhaena and Baela.
Reader is LIVID.
She's upset, furious, and feels betrayed.
Was all that talk of choice and decisions meaningless?!?
Was all her agony over choosing between the two she loved the most for nothing!?
Nonetheless, she keeps her cool, and her determination never wavers.
After all, Aegon the Conquerer had two wives. Why couldn't Jacaerys? Besides, he loves her, not Baela, he wouldnt give up on their engagement that easily.
She could deal with sharing him, seeing as Baela didn't show any interest in being a ruler at all. Her plans could still work. She just needed to adjust some things first. It might actually benefit her more.
Baela could keep Jace occupied while she did what she wanted.
Yes.
It could still work.
Then, Lucerys is named heir to driftmark.

Sorry to come here to rant but I love your blog and I don't know where else to talk about this. I saw the leaks for the finale because some asshole didn't tag them as spoilers and now I'm fucking shaking. I hate the writers with all my heart, why did they have to do this? I wish I had known sooner that the show was going to be about Condal's obsession with the Blacks and I wouldn't have wasted my time watching this second season. The complete character assassination of all the Greens because it wasn't enough to make them look like villains, they also had to make them weak and pathetic and incompetent. What did they do to my girl Alicent? What was the point of Alicole apart from making Alicent feel guilty for having consensual sex once in her life? Aegon the realm delight? Is this a joke? And I can't even think about what they did to Aemond. They completely butchered his character because they saw how popular he was becoming and it would have taken the spotlight off the precious Blacks. I wish they had made him a full villain from the beginning, Ewan would have shined in the role anyway. Instead they built a multi-faceted character, showed us his trauma, and for what? Aemond acting this way towards his sister and mother is unrecognizable not only from s01 but also from the beginning of this one. But hey, if we're lucky we'll get another Daemyra incest scene because apparently groomer Daemon of all people deserves a redemption arc. In the meantime the Greens have been humiliated and shamed in every way possible. I’m crying and I dont know what to do
Oh my love please don’t cry i love you so much this show doesn’t deserve anything especially your tears🫂🫂🫂🫂🩷🩷😭😭😭😭
I’m gonna answer under the cut<3333
LEAKS!!!!!!!!!!!!
This season’s mission was to villainize the Greens as much as possible, especially Aemond because he got INSANELY popular in such a short notice and Ryan couldn’t have that.
This is probably the worst leaks we’ve ever gotten for all the greens: Aemond being this bad villain who doesn’t care about anyone at this point, Aegon the realm’s delight and thinking about his fucking cock, Alicent begging Rhaenyra and saying Aegon will bend the knee after having his son killed, Helaena being a subject to everyone’s unnecessary cruelty…
This is horrible writing with no regards that this series should be AN ADAPTATION. But it’s far from anything GRRM has written in F&B…

no idea if i saw it on your blog or somewhere else but it was about rhaenyra having an older daughter similar to helaena. basically how tb wouldn't treat her that nicely since most of them (all tbh) don't believe in dreams or things of that sort. you could say tg doesn't believe helaena either but some at least listen even if they don't understand. rhaenyra would probably ignore anything her daughter said and with daemon that would increase bc we know how he thinks about dreams (ignoring whatever happened in s2). s2 would make everything odd with rhaenyra now thinking she was picked by the gods. not sure if this interests you but here you have it. s2 showed rhaenyra as a flawed mother and i'm eating it up. may "perfect mother rhaenyra" never return!
i'm not sure if you're referring to in-universe TB or TG who don't believe in dreams or to their fanbases. i guess you're speaking in-universe? but, in all honesty, there is no exploration of what rhaenyra's children or the velaryons or anyone else allied to her think about dragon dreams. we only know that daemon rejects the idea of prophecy, that's it. jace doesn't have much of a reaction after rhaenyra tells him about aegon's dream
as for TG, we don't even know if they are familiar with the concept of dragon dreams. it would be kind of stupid for them not to be, since their origin story of coming to westeros is literally daenys the dreamer. but we are cutting the writers too much slack if we think they ever considered that the green children would have been obviously been educated in their house's history by the maesters, if nothing else. why? because they are never seen to discuss it or bring it up in any manner. in addition, they are never shown to make the connection between dragon dreams and helaena's visions. they all just act like she's talking in tongues, get weirded out for a couple of seconds, then move on as if nothing happened. even alicent would have known who daenys the dreamer was because her septa / maester surely would have educated her on matters of history when she was a girl. viserys even talks to her specifically about dragon dreams! do these events produce any kind of effect further on in the story? of course not, actions don't have consequences here, don't be silly.
very indulgently, you could say that, in the last episode, aemond understands helaena to be capable of prophecy, but it is absolutely unearned and, thus, cannot be, in good faith, interpreted in a watsonian way. the only way to properly analyse it is by considering it in the doylist sense of them needing to shoehorn some sense of conflict between aemond and helaena and give aemond a reason to cry about something.
because, otherwise, how can this possibly be integrated in the narrative? aemond never says one word about helaena's abilities and then suddenly acts like her talking about seeing the future is a totally normal thing that she should be expected to do. because he knew all along, you see! surprise! primary school level complexity here.
coming back to the ask, i'm not sure why rhaenyra would ignore a potential dreamer daughter. she is not shown to have any reaction to dragon dreams, good or bad. viserys tells her about aegon's dream, but we don't really see her pondering it. she's just like "well! whatever! could be!" and assigns in the pile for "a problem for another day". she only seriously starts to think about it after her father's death. but there is nothing to indicate that she wouldn't have started to meditate more on the issue of prophecy if she had a child with this ability.
i'm also not sure how season 2 showed her like a flawed mother. i very much would like to see flawed!mother!rhaenyra, but that's not what we got. compared to alicent, she is positively mother of the year, let's not pretend otherwise.
i talked about this in previous tags to other posts, but i very much do not buy the conflict between her and jace. i think it's dumb and contradictory and that people are bending over backwards to smash a sense of logic into it, but it's an artificial and stupid way to have rhaenyra and jace fight over something.
and here, yet again, is a point in which the book is superior. because it's clear cut! rhaenyra is incapacitated and jace makes the decision to let the dragonseeds try and claim dragons because they need more fighters. what is there to be confused about? but the show introduces a note of ludicrous waffling. jace is the one who comes up with the idea, but he wants only distantly-related nobles to try.
i think jace being a hypocrite when it comes to his bastard status is an internal (and external) conflict he sorely needs for his development, but this specific point was not the way to introduce it. it would have made more sense if he were opposed to the entire idea from the very beginning. but, as such, bastard dragonriders challenge his status, but non-targaryen nobles don't? can these writers please come up with an original plot point that doesn't dissolve into an unconvincing jumble the minute you look at it too hard?

OMG THISS
I couldn't help it and went into the anti Rhaenicent tag here and the way 90% of them were anti Rhaenyra and that's why they didn't ship them???? Not bc it didnt make sense or that Alicent was jealous of Rhae's position, or anything else, just that they *hated* Rhaenyra????
I even saw one stating she would have been glad if Alicent gleefully slashed Rhaenyra's arm durning Driftmark and I'm????
Like bae, Rhae MANHANDLED the bladed and stepped between it and her son. I know she knows how to fight and Alicent would have been on the ground, lmao. Rhae may be a princess but I just know she knows how to fight hair up and earrings out style.
Tell me about it.
Rhaenicents make fun of Rhaenyra being murdered, saying they can't wait to see it on screen. They call her illiterate, make fun of her suffering, call her a fat cow and so on. They call Daemon names but completely ignore Alicent cutting Rhaenyra's arm open or Alicent making Rhaenyra walk to her chambers the very second Rhaenyra gave birth, with a trail of blood after her. And I won't even get into Alicent teaching Aegon to see Rhaenyra as his enemy. Most of them detest Rhaenyra and detest the fact that Rhaenyra did not grovel at their fave's feet, while Alicent is completely obsessed with her.
Rhaewins constantly use the choking scene as a gotcha, constantly pray Daemon will abuse Rhaenyra in season two to "win" with their ship, constantly hope Daemon will cheat on Rhaenyra to... prove a point I guess. They reduce Rhaenyra's pain at the loss of her sons to "Rhaenyra actually mourned parts of Harwin", as if she wasn't the most loving mother we were presented in asoiaf and couldn't care any less about Harwin dying.
Laenyras never mention Rhaenyra outside of their ship. They make fun of Rhaenyra's traumatic miscarriage, they make fun of Visenya, they constantly whine about how Laena should have been presented as Daemon's "true love" and always throw Rhaenyra under the bus to uplift their fav. They cheer for domestic violence and wish for Rhaenyra to be subjected to it. The ship is nothing else but them trying to make their irrelevant fave somehow significant.
Daemyras are most of the time the ones that love Rhaenyra the most. But here too I see self inserts that only care about Daemon and his character. Saying Rhaenyra loved him more than he did her, that she should have been somehow grateful to him, that they don't see why Daemon would love her, that Rhaenyra would forgive him if he would kill her Velaryon sons to put his on the throne, excusing the choking scene and so on.
These people do not like Rhaenyra for herself or her character traits. They just use her for their petty fights in the fandom, because she is a popular and mostly beloved character. And I for one got very tired of it.

I saw some hotd spoilers on TikTok and while I would normally feel ashamed for watching them, this show is such a fucking dumpster fire that I simply do not care anymore. With that being said, here are my thoughts. Out of respect, I will not post commentary in my tags.
-) Aemond telling Helaena to saddle up only for her to tell him to kindly fucking fuck off and coldly predict his future where he will die alone.
"B-but Helaena loves her brother!"
Correction. Loved. She loved Aemond until he killed Lucerys which set off a chain of events that got her own son killed in retaliation. I'm sorry, but if my asshole brother told me to fight for him after his decisions led to the gruesome death of one of my babies, I would spit in his face for the audacity.
"Will you burn me as you did Aegon?"
"That is a lie."
"I saw it."
Helaena was done playing around. No riddles. No musings. She was grieving and angry and lashing out at the jackass responsible. Helaena refuses to fight a losing battle and plus, she no longer trusts Aemond so why the fuck would she ride beside an emotional time bomb with a geriatric dragon that refuses to listen to him?
-) "It's all a story and you're but one part in it. You know your part." Gave me chills. Phia was SERVING in this episode and knowing what I know about Helaena and her ending, I'm praying we'll see more of her. Daemon's final vision in Harrenhal bore some fruit as I got to see a haunting glimpse of Daenerys and her dragons...Night King looked like a leathery Halloween costume from a general store...not my cup of tea.
-) Aemond throwing a hissyfit and putting his disgusting hands on Helaena to force her to burn Harrenhal with him was nothing new to me. You've seen how he treats members of his family...Helaena and Alicent are no different. Also, imagine being raised for YEARS to hate your sister and being trained to fight her only for your mom, the one responsible for your upbringing, deciding to throw in the towel and sue for peace. Yeah, I don't blame Aemond for feeling betrayed by Alicent who RAISED HIM TO HATE HIS SISTER.
-) That scene with Alicent and Rhaenyra...I'm sorry, but that was total bullshit and out of character. The fact that Rhaenyra was written out to be the disgruntled spouse listening to her wife's apologies was ridiculous. Rhaenicents will count this as a win, but to me, it's poorly written-fanfiction. Even when Alicent was "apologizing" and "baring her soul" to Rhaenyra she still justified her bullshit (go figure). Now, NOW, after humiliating Rhaenyra at her wedding, allowing a murderer to walk free, plotting against her, and TORTURING HER FOR YEARS, SHE WANTS TO RUN AWAY FROM IT ALL?? Lady, you sealed your family's fate the moment you wore that green dress. Alicent wants to flee from the problems that SHE created and I was fucking GOBSMACKED that she practically betrays her "favorite son" in favor of opening up the city to Rhaenyra without bloodshed. Kudos to Rhaenyra for sticking to her guns to cut off Aegon's head. I know anti-Rhaenyra stans will screech that this is proof she was always going to kill him and refuse to believe that Rhaenyra, having lost a son and a daughter, wants vengeance for her dead children...honestly, what do y'all expect??
-) I half-expected Aemond to fly over to Dragonstone, bend the knee to his sister, and hug it out. Y'know...like in every fix-it fanfic ever where Rhaenyra forgives those usurping murderous cunts and strives to be a better sister because it's all her fault that her siblings are SAD and not pure, sweet Alicent's fault for turning them against her in the first place.
-) We finally see Sheepstealer, but no scene of Rhaena claiming him and flying in the skies. Seriously, what the fuck? We get a pointless scene of Alicent treating with Rhaenyra on Dragonstone, but nothing for Rhaena? I swear, the writers add in these pointless scenes to avoid anything to do with the twins. No, we just see her staring bug-eyed at Sheepstealer while Hugh gets extra screen time with Vermithor.
-) I'd say the only scenes that stood out to me were Daemon bending the knee to Rhaenyra, Helaena's predictions, and Team Black gearing up for war.
-) Anyway, this episode was insane and not in a good way. The Rhaenicent agenda and the constant need to portray Alicent as this misunderstood angel who just wants her best friend back are dragging this show through the mud.

Some hilarious interactions of Aegon being a jealous baby: Aegon, picking up Hel from class after a meeting with her thesis advisor- "Who's he?" Aegon asked possessively as Helly walked up to the car. "My professor," She said sweetly as he opened the door to her. "Standing kinda close, don't you think?" he grumbled. "He's married, Aeg." "So?" "To his husband?" "...Oh."
Aegon, having lunch with Nora at the country club- The waiter set down their drinks, and Nora smiled and said, "Thank you, Bobby." Aegon raised a brow. "Who's this guy? You know him?" The waiter looked between them, and Aegon snapped, "Quite staring at her, man-" "Aeg," Nora placed her hand over his. "His name's on his name tag. It's okay, sweetie." Aegon, with bestie, (and Jace)- "The hell's this little shit?" He asked as he walked onto the tennis court. "Your nephew?" Bestie said as she smiled and walked over to him. "Just helping her with her serve, Aegon." Jace told him. "I could've done that," He grumbled. "Aeg, baby you hate tennis. And waking up early. And leaving Nora and Helly in bed." Bestie reminded him. He pouted, but relented when she held his hand, and pointed out Nora and Helly about to head into the sauna.
And bonus, Alicent-
The press swarmed his mother since the news of her relationship with Daemon and Rhaenyra, and were shouting questions, many of which were invasive. "For fuck's sake," Aegon muttered as security led them to their car. "It's fine, dear, we're almost-" Alicent was cut off by the shoving of paps trying to get closer to them to snap more pictures. "Mom!" He saw her trip, and saw red in his vision. "Back the fuck up, assholes!" He growled, and grabbed the nearest camera and smashed it. He muttered at the bodyguards for not doing enough, and picked his mother up- honestly, the one day Criston had off.
"You okay, Mom?" He asked once they got in the car. "Fine, dear." She smiled, squeezing his hand. "They'll send a bill for that camera, I believe."
"I'll get Aemond to deal with it- he won't let us pay a cent, not after that." Aegon replied.
LOVE ALL OF THIS
I love Aegon so much. He's the best and worst.
Of course he does not want to get up early and leave his girls, who blames him.
Aemond would someone how sue that camera man

House of The Dragon, Season 2, Episode 2 "Rhaenyra the Cruel"
Just clarifying, these are my own thoughts, you don't like them, don't bother telling me so. Also, I'm not a book purist, I like adaptions taking putting their own spin on things - if it makes sense to do so. So, here were my thoughts. Obvs, this post is dark and full of spoilers.
OK, but where is the panic here? The most important kid in Westeros just got his literal head chopped off in one of the most secure cities in the world with Vhagar on watch and other than his dad, mom and a few servants, everybody is just "yeah that happened".
I would have loved a scene of them telling Aegon about Jaehaerys. Like a build up. It feels like there's something missing.
Aegon smashing up Vizzy T's legos is valid because it's him having revenge on the man at the centre of the conflict that killed his son.
Why Aemond looking around his room like he thinks somebody was looking at his porn collection?
Give us Alicent's rage. Why isn't she angry? Why is Jaehaerys "the child"? Alicent's line about Helaena? Where's the rage?
Why is there all this speculation of who ordered this? It's obvious.
Tyland, you fucking bell end.
Aegon drag Cole, fucking drag him.
Aegon's got the rage. Where's the tag off of everyone else?
Ironrod, they could never make me hate you
The Aegon and Otto vibe is giving me Tywin and Joffrey.
Otto, that boy just lost his kid, why are you saying this shit
Alicent's human moment at the suggestion at the funeral, glancing at Aegon. She knows it's wrong
The Dragon pit? Which is a ruin after Meleys?
Jaehaerys is your Great-grandson, Otto. And yes, I'll say you aren't grieving.
Aegon looking to Alicent to make it stop and her not doing it.
Alicent? You just said this is a good idea, convinced Aegon and then go on and call it a spectacle? The hypocrisy?
Helaena. Phia, you broke my heart.
Alicent, they cut off that girl's child's head and you're worried about your hookup becoming public??? Priorities?
The costumes for the funeral, absolutely gorgeous. The little crown for Jaehaerys, we need more crowns.
The whole Blood spills everything when he sees the tools is funny but also let's us know that Larys has a reputation.
Helaena's hair is gorgeous.
Alicent stop touching Helaena, she doesn't fucking like it, she doesn't want to be there.
Aegon killing Blood *chef kiss* but that scene too short
I actually thought the wagon would knock Jaehaerys off at one point.
Phia Saban is a fucking star because I got so uncomfortable with her during that scene.
Rhaenyra upset for Helaena but also her quick thinking about protecting the island.
Also fuck that one guy on her council. Fuck you Alfred.
Also slay Rhaenys.
Book accurate Rhaenyra not letting Jace out.
Jace, your brother is dead, your mother is at war and your cousin just died, and you're serving face?
I'm sorry but that look Rhaenyra gives Daemon, the lil head fuck when she realises, it's so familial that you literally can't forget they're related. I've given that same look my siblings a hundred times
Daemon, that's not the right expression to have there. You didn't forget to take out the rubbish, you killed a kid
Rhaenyra, what's with the "it"?
This scene between Daemon and Rhaenyra, you can see while they love one another they can't trust one another. But I think Daemon told her the truth, he didn't really want the throne himself.
Why did they turn Daemon into a wife beater? Why? This is the man who gave us "I want Rhaenyra" and the hand thing, why does he have to come at her like that?
Rhaenyra, you fucking remind him of Visenya. You remind him how he left you alone.
Harrenhal. Daemon has been planning this war for so long that he's just desperate to see it all done.
Daemon's jealousy of Rhaenyra and Viserys.
Baela, I fucking love you. She was ready to chase after Daemon with Moondancer after seeing the room.
The costumes are really getting good.
CARAXES, MY BOI
Am I the only one who thinks the armour got worse? It's all bulky now
The Helaena and Aegon scene. You can see both of them have so much to say but neither are able to say it aloud.
Fuck you Cole, that's right you look at your mistake.
I thought that one servant was Pod.
Rhaenyra playing with Viserys and Aegon. Oh they're so sweet.
Rhaenyra is serving ✨face✨
"have you told anyone?" Alicent he'd fucking be executed? Sent to the Wall?
Cole leave that Cargyll alone. You're the one who literally fucked the Queen and had her put it back on you. You're the one who defiled the cloak. Your purity? You fucking whore.
Headbutt him Cargyll.
Cargyll asking the real fucking questions here.
I love how all the kingsguard just left because well, they remember Joffrey Lonmouth.
Criston Cole fall down a privy already.
I miss Ser Barristan.
Cole needs a headbutt.
Baela and Jace, serving cunt together, we could of had it all.
Jace, Daddy Harwin, Ser Harwin loved you. Why question it?
Just "I miss luke", there's a scene missing there.
Aemond at the brothel... That boy was abused by that woman, why would they do that to him? Also, why the fuck would he tell her about Luke?
The FUCK are you allowed to call him Luke.
Oh, they teased you? They teased you you school shooter vibes momma's boy?
Why is Hugh Hammer getting a storyline? I don't care about him? Where is Nettles? WHY COULDN'T WE HAVE NETTLES?
Yeah his wife and kid will die.
OK, but why are Alyn and Adam giving off that one Tiktok about eating at Olive Garden?
Corlys with the whole "I'm not a king", girl it was 20 years ago. Also, dom!Rhaenys. He gets pegged.
"I'm here, Meleys is here." DON'T FUCKING TOUCH ME
Rhaenyra and her book about Visenya.
Mysaria and Rhaenyra? It's not giving me anything. It feels out of place. But good on Mysaria for fixing the accent.
Seasmoke 😭
Hanging the ratcatchers is fair enough. Now, give us the Red Keep cats pls.
The dog 😭
Otto why are you more upset over PR?
Also WHY IS OTTO SERVING CUNT? WHY? WHAT IS HAPPENING?
That look he gives when he asks "and what... Has cole done?" it's so dad core
Otto's hard on for Viserys? No, girl.
Aegon vs Otto yesss
Aegon "my new hand is a steel fist", Aegon he hast done thy mother
Please tell me Mysaria is going to stay and cause trouble, give us that at least.
The Erryk walking up to the door and giving out to the guards, it's one of my favourite tropes.
I love the whole swapping of the twins. But I would have made it more confusing.
ELINDA MY QUEEN
Rhaenyra walking away when Elinda is doing her hair, why does it remind me of a pint getting it's hair brushed.
Also Rhaenyra's pillows low key look hard.
Erryk giving commands to the Lord Commander? The fuck?
Elinda, get in there girl, throw something
Rhaenyra, the door is literally just there. Just there.
The Cargylls scene is top notch. A Roman death.
I miss Mushroom.
We're getting Daeron and Tessarion.
Leave the Tyrells out of this.
Alicent, comfort your son, that's your boy, he needs you.
No, but go fuck Cole I suppose. That worked out fine the last time.
Is every episode going to end with Alicent getting railed?
Rating: 8/10.

S2E2 (spoilers abound)
They found Blood but not Cheese, just like the book.
Otto is being completely callous about using Jaehaerys as propaganda, Aegon II looks ready to chop his damn head off, and Alicent just fucking stands there, doing nothing. Shut your father up! Comfort your son!
At least Aegon II called out Criston for not doing his duty. Worst kingsguard commander ever.
Oh God. Not only are they going through with this heartless funeral procession, Otto wants Alicent and Helaena to follow the body. Fuck you, Otto. I hope you have the most painful GoT franchise death since Oberyn Martell.
Hug your daughter, Alicent! Fuck, she truly is a shit mother.
Oh dear fucking God, someone had Jaehaerys' head sewn back onto his body and they're making Helaena look at it this whole procession. Where's the silver shroud we've seen at every other Targ funeral?
Oh God, the carriage with the body is stuck and they're having to rock it back and forth to free it. Jaehaerys' head is going to roll a second time, I just know it.
Thank God that didn't happen, Helaena would've fainted, I'm sure.
Now Rhaenyra's getting blamed, Daemon's denying the "son for a son" thing, and there goes their marriage.
Hi, Baela! The writers are finally giving you something to do, yay!!! Now if they could just do the same for your sister.
There goes Daemon and Caraxes. All hail Ramin, the music this episode has been top-notch.
At least fucking say something to your wife, Aegon.
Servants are taking Jaehaerys' bed apart as Criston looks on all sad. Fuck you, Cole. This is on you. (And Daemon, mostly Daemon, but Criston is definitely not completely innocent in this, fuck any TG fans who say otherwise.)
Rhaenyra playing with her two youngest. The boys are so cute!
"There is none for what I've done." Ah, so you do have a brain, Criston. I was beginning to wonder. I saw a bingo card in the show tags that included "Catholic guilt" as a square. That person called it beautifully.
Criston, go fuck Alicent again because you obviously need a fix if you're being this surly. Let the man eat. Again, treating people badly is how you turn them into turncloaks.
"The white cloak is a symbol of our purity, our fidelity." Then your cloak should be fucking black, Criston. "Where were you when Jaehaerys was murdered?" WHERE WERE YOU, COLE? Oh yeah -- FUCKING THE KID'S GRANDMOTHER.
"Where were you, Lord Commander?' I want to capture Criston's "deer in the headlights" expression and make it my lockscreen until the end of time.
"and then the young prince is murdered on your watch." You are so full of shit, Cole, that I'm surprised people aren't complaining about the smell.
"You are mad." He truly does look fucking unhinged. Cole, you've lost your damn mind. (Fabien is fucking KILLING IT this season.)
(God, the Butcher's Ball cannot come soon enough. I believe this is still 129 AC, so next season, then.)
"Or to triumph. And glory." Arryk, don't listen to him, he's clearly insane, you can see it in his eyes.
Jace and Baela. At least he doesn't get offended when she brings up Harwin.
Great, Aemond's ego has gotten bigger, just what we needed. Lord, he's skinny. Just muscle and bone, no fat on him.
Can I just be shallow for a moment? The Hull Brothers are HOT.
Why is Daemon's title "king consort" and not "prince consort"? (Matt Smith is making a career out of playing the husbands of queens.)
I do love Corlys and Rhaenys flirting in the middle of this serious talk. They're so good together. (I just have a suspicion Rook's Rest is at this season's halfway point.)
Emma is also killing it this season. I hope that their next role is something other than a grieving mother, they're a little too good at it, it's heartbreaking.
SEASMOKE?!
"... and curse your name." I fucking hate it when Otto has a point. Aegon II doesn't consider any consequences at all. But then, look who's guiding him -- Cole.
"And what has Ser Criston Cole done?" Nothing good, that's for sure.
Why do the highborn men's and women's costumes look like they're from different centuries?
"Fuck dignity!" That's it, that's the show.
(Tom's killing it too. Can someone please put him in a rom-com? I want to see him play a sweet guy in love.)
"Give it to Cole." Criston looks at him like, "The fuck you say?" Don't do it, Otto.
"My new Hand will be a steel fist." We all know what he can do with those steel fists.
Criston has been in over his head from the moment he met Rhaenyra, this is nothing new.
Good on you, Mysaria, for being able to tell the Cargyll twins apart. Hey, if she can keep them from killing each other, more power to her.
Oh great, we've got the Cargyll twins' fight in the middle of Rhaenyra's bedchamber with Rhaenyra and Elinda Massey caught in the middle. I'm pretty sure this isn't how this scene goes in the book.
Oh good, nobody dies but the twins, that's in the book. (Elinda's ultimate fate isn't happy but that's still coming.)
It's about FUCKING TIME that somebody mentioned Daeron. This child has literally not existed until this moment, I swear.
"I have sinned." Alicent, Otto a self-righteous ass but he is nowhere near a priest.
"I do not wish to hear of it." Otto says, "Leave me out of your drama, girl, I've got enough messes to deal with."
COMFORT YOUR SON, ALICENT! You are an absolute shit mother, especially compared to Rhaenyra.
Must we waste screentime on Alicole? They deserve each other, sure, but only because they are both UTTER FAILURES!
The preview makes it look like Rook's Rest is next week, I was expect the week after. Interesting.

What do you think of this?
https://www.tumblr.com/blog/view/dulcewrites/715272275441729537
I am just going to transcribe what the person wrote, bc I don't want to go back and forth for this:
I have random Baela and Rhaena thoughts. This is probably discombobulated lmao 😭
As much as I am looking forward to (and very much hoping for) more scenes/lines for rhaena and baela, it is personally going to be so… bittersweet (??) to watch them be involved in a war where imo they gain nothing by Rhaenyra winning. And knowing how reading seems to not be fundemental in this fandom, no this is not me saying it would make sense for them to fight for team green. Though if Alicent followed through on what she said to Rhaenys, they’d have driftmark but that’s neither here nor there I guess.
Especially if we go strictly by show canon. They are THEE dragon twins essentially offered up to legitimized two boys bc that’s all Rhaenyra has at that moment (before viserys swoops in again). She tried with Alicent, who shot her down knowing that Helaena, Dreamfyre, and possible children she would have with Jace would be used as leverage.
I would get it more if it was for family reasons or even personal ambitions (Baela being queen. Though her children would quite literally be put in the same position Rhaenyra’s kids are. If they even got that far💀). But imo nothing in the show depicts that. They try to show them having some sort of affection with Luke and Jace; still don’t know if that is romantic or sibling wise. Either way, I’m supposed to believe it’s enough?? If the fight is for Rhaenyra, they did a bad job showing that too and frankly it would not make sense. If it is for daemon that’s… a choice.
Something about Baela being ‘just like daemon’ but sitting and smiling nicely while Rhaenyra takes her birthright just kind of makes me laugh 😭. Like I said, I could possibly understand this decision if we got shades of Baela wanting to be queen. She seems pretty devoted to her grandmother and wards at Driftmark, it is just hard for me to think she in particular would be over the moon about Luke being lord of the tides. Regardless of if she sees him as family or not.
I am someone who will always advocate for more women on the show, especially women from a different social/economic background from the noble ones we got in s1. So if they choose to make Sara Snow a real person, there won’t be any real qualms out of me about it (unless they write her weird lol). But ngl it will be hard watching Baela fight, quite literally, while jace is away possibly falling in love and Rhaenyra sits on her butt at dragonstone. And daemon is away grooming another young girl???
Like who and what are they fighting for!!!
Oh, don’t even get me started on how Rhaena gets absolutely nothing out of this, and honestly nothing from the people who are supposed to take care of her. I just think they both got the short end of the stick, at least during the war. Which I guess is the point of it all. Casualties and people going through strife for a stupid throne but yeah.. I’m just kind of eh about watching that unfold.
Answers
A)
I already stated several times that DaemonxNettles isn't a thing and Daemon never groomed that girl. People can check out the stuff I have tagged as "daemon and nettles", click this link, or click this for a very specific post about it.
B)
Them: "Though her children would quite literally be put in the same position Rhaenyra’s kids are. "
No, they wouldn't. How would they...if the greens were sent to the Wall, executed, etc.? How ridiculous.
...I don't understand how Baela and Rhaena wouldn't win by becoming a Queen and a Lady of a major house respectively. Ain't no way.....Why does this person think Margaery Tyrell, Cersei Lannister Arianne Martell, and Rhaenyra herself ALL want to be some sort of Queen or woman-in-charge-with-highest-social-station?!
There are real sociopolitical benefits to being a Lady of a great house and a damn Queen Consort! That is the entire point of feudalist political marriages!
They say this: "And knowing how reading seems to not be fundemental in this fandom, no this is not me saying it would make sense for them to fight for team green. Though if Alicent followed through on what she said to Rhaenys, they’d have driftmark but that’s neither here nor there I guess."
Yet the second sentence is telling us that Alicent would have given Driftmark to the girls if they had just changed teams or acquiesced to the greens' terms...which is still giving up the black cause/rhaenyra's cause. So in order to get the house that Rhaenys, Viserys, and Corlsy all already give Rhaena and her future kids with Luke....the girls have to be handed their already-assured inheritances by those who are seeking to make them and those they lived with as family members for 6 years hostage...Cuz that's what Otto is doing: trying to make these girls hostages and limit their options so they, Daemon, and Rhaenyra can't retaliate in fear of these girls and these girls' parents' lives...If any of them were to just give up!
The other thing is that, once again, Corlys is the one to have made the arrangement with Viserys concerning who will inherit and marry who. not Rhaenyra, who is merely following their directive and wishes that also benefit the two girls mentioned!
You know, perhaps it's because of the jump cut and HotD's terrible writing limiting how much screentime each actor gets to show emotion, and how we the audience do not actually witness how Rhaenyra's family became a family after she and Daemon marry (Spoiler alert, it is!). jeynearrynofthevale writes this about one thing the show should have done:
Spend way more time on court politics and the buildup of the dance. Show why the two sides are falling the way they do and establish the core issues at play. Spend some more time establishing the characters before time jumps. Maybe give Rhaenyra motivation for ruling in terms of what she wants to do. Have her and Alicent navigate around each other in court.
the reason why it feels like Baela seems placid or uninterested is not because she is emotionally distant from her own family, but because these writers aren't worth their salt. the Jump cut robbed us all.
You don't even need to have read any ASoIaF book to understand any of this. how could one not know that being Queen Consort is a coveted and sociopolitically advantageous position?!
C)
There is absolutely no proof that Sara Snow existed. Absolutely none. the only thing we ever hear about this girl is from Mushroom...who never was in the North with Jace! So how the hell does he know this girl exists, much less what Jaecerys did or didn't do with her?!
Mind you, this is the same person who inspired the idea that Daemon fucked Nettles:
Mushroom [who was not at Maidenpool] would have us believe it was not. By the dwarf’s account, Daemon Targaryen had come to love the small brown bastard girl, and had taken her into his bed.
("Rhaenyra Triumphant")
If the writers dare to make Sara Snow a thing, and if this writer is that concerned about Baela fighting while Jace cheats on her, they should know that if they make SS a real person and have Jace cheat with her it's all bullshit just to add "spice" and be provocative. Just as Mushroom does and what they did with Rhaenys coming out of the floor in epi 9.
D)
IF Rhaenyra is going to just "sit on her butt" because SHE JUST "GAVE BIRTH" TO A STILLBORN BABY!!!
and because it is already common and expected for the leader of the side to be like the king piece of chess: little moves to limit the opportunities for the other side to injure/kill them.
I don't know if I want these posts anymore...I've gone down some crazy rabbit holes.
Tumblr media
E) *Look to comments/reblogs for mononijikayu's description of how this also reveals the HotD's lack of knowledge and perspective about medieval woman's acts towards gaining and using power*
Excerpts:
1.
and also, baela and rhaena becoming queen and lady of the tides is the best damn position they could get. as the line of succession places them further, their real shot is a really good royal marrisge. daughters go before uncles in line of succession, so daemon's baela and rhaena would end up behind rhaenyra's female led bloodline - herself, her sons with laenor and then her sons with daemon and then their daughter visenya had she lived.
2.
thats why laena and rhaenyra arranged the marriage a few years before she passed. baela being queen consort could usher a revival of a type of queenship that hasnt been seen since rhaenys and visenya. jace would be a pro-active king who probably will like to see how his people lives, so he would continue the tradition of aegon i's royal processions. he would leave the rulership to baela, administratively as his representative and rule on his behalf. its been done before by various kings, including by richard lionheart who named his mother regent while he was on crusade. jace would do the same, but with baela doing much of the administration and household and managing of royal residences.

Ykw I'm making another post about this cuz fuck all of you. This is about the SHOW, because in the BOOK we don't actually know what happened. Tread carefully a lot of you won't like this and I'm purposefully mis-tagging it so it gets to the right audience.
There's a little trend on hotd tiktok, arguing the fact that the sex scene between Rhaenyra and Criston wasn't rape. It's the whole soft and hard power thing- soft and hard power is not something generally applied to a couple of people. In very basic and blunt terms, it's good cop bad cop for governments.
But, you know, if you TRULY want to apply it to Rhaenyra and Criston, Rhaenyra has both! Oh ehm gee!
Hard power = (again I'm saying this very bluntly) things like military attack. Economic sanctions. That sort of thing. Soft power = coercion. The ability to coerce, or, manipulate, someone to do something. Rhaenyra had both powers over Criston. As his princess, the current heir to the throne, she had the ability to use hard power on him and have him killed. For what you ask? She can make up anything! Her weird ass father is wrapped around her finger, and will do anything for her. She may have not even needed a reason. As for soft power, well we saw that demonstrated. She coerced him into having sex with her.
And now you're thinking one of two or maybe even both of these things; "She was a child!" "She was drunk!"
1.) You do not think she was a child. Yall were perfectly find with Alicent being married off to Viserys, years before this when they were younger. You were perfectly fine with 14 y/o Laena marrying Daemon. And let me be so crystal fucking clear here, THAT 25 Y/O THEY CAST FOR TEEN LAENA IS NOT WHAT LAENA WOULD LOOK LIKE. That WOMAN was 25. Over a decade older than the character. She was a horrible casting mistake that only played into making Daemon seem like a good person. The actual child that played the first version of Laena was closer in age to that Laena. Back onto the point, Rhaenyra, in your eyes, was not a child. She was 17 there- older than Westerosi standards, and just a year younger than modern day standards. She. Was. Not. A. Child.
2.) When has someone being drunk EVER made it okay to sexually assault someone?? Oh right, when it's your gross ass favs doing it. THATS when you justify rape.
So now that we've cleared that up, your final argument is probabl; "That's not how the writers wrote it! They confirmed it wasn't rape!"
wrong.
The shitty writers for that half assed show do not matter to me. I take almost everything they say with a grain of salt. If full grown fucking adults can't realize that what they're writing is rape, they do not matter to me. Imagine writing, directing, and reviewing that scene as a full grown adult and??? Just not understanding what you've done?? That is WORRYING to me. I am WORRIED about the fact that people like that exist. Yall can't see how that's gross? Fr?
Anyway no means no, stop means stop, and if you disagree you're the actual rape apologist and don't need to be consuming media like this because you clearly get off on it.

Hey, thanks for answering my previous questions so thoroughly! :D Since you mentioned Oldgon feeling a certain way about Vaemond's fate, I was wondering how he would react to Daemon and Rhaenyra's secret marriage. I particularly love the dynamic between Oldgon and Daemon in the flashbacks. Obviously, Daemon is a jerk, but I really liked how he was the only one against Oldgon's departure for the Citadel. Not going into spoiler territory, but I think a lot will happen in Oldgon's life before Rhaenyra and Daemon's marriage. I don't have words to say how much I loved Oldgon and Aemma's friendship! You've given more substance to her character before her terrible fate and marriage to Viserys, which makes it all the more tragic and saddening. I wonder if Viserys will talk with Oldgon about Aemma in future chapters, and what he did to her. I also appreciate how you took liberties to explore pre-Dance events since it's such a juicy and underdeveloped part of the story. I'm all for the messy family drama!
Moving on to another subject, I love that you're also a Sansa fan! While she's not underrated, I think she gets an unfair amount of flak in the fandom and among the general audience for things that weren't her fault, especially in 'A Game of Thrones'. "My skin has turned to porcelain, to ivory, to steel" still hits really hard. What is your favorite Sansa chapter and quote? As a JonSa fan, what do you think would be the dynamic between Sansa and Aemond? Do you think it would have any similarities to JonSa's?
Also, I know this has been a controversial topic, but how do you feel about Rhaenicent? I noticed you've tagged this pairing in 'a poison tree' as a past relationship. I was wondering how it will impact the story in future chapters, since I don't know if Alicent and/or Criston would tell Oldgon about their complicated past with her.
Oh gosh, Daemon and Rhaenyra’s marriage is going to be a big turning point in the future. There are several important events to cover before we get there, and I don’t want to spoil anything but it…. It does indeed change a lot for Oldgon.
Daemon and Aegon have a deeply ~complicated~ relationship, mainly because Daemon has big youngest child energy, and now he’s stuck as the middle sibling and he is Not Pleased.
The way I think about them, is that Daemon kinda expected an extension of his relationship with Viserys when it came to Aegon, if that makes sense. Daemon really adores Viserys, and I think he had this almost hero-worship thing towards him when they were young, and I think he kind of expected something similar for himself from Aegon. That was supposed to be his mini-me, his playmate, his built in new best friend. And in many ways, Aegon is actually fairly similar to Viserys, rather than Daemon, and was a pretty quiet kid and not up to a lot of Daemon’s roughhousing. He was much closer with Aemma and Gael, and was bit more on the “feminine” side as a child. He was very much a bookish day dreamer, and wasn’t interested much in things like hunting or sparring. I’ll explore this more in depth later, but I think Daemon felt an obligation to teach Aegon masculinity, and Aegon wasn’t really into that, and their relationship suffered for it. And Daemon did very much love Aegon and was sorry to see him go, but he didn’t always have the means to express it in a healthy way. (I have a small working headcanon about Daemon’s relationship with Viserys having a heavy sexual aspect, that’s further reflected with Rhaenyra, and his relationship with Aegon being more based in violence….. so yeah, you’ll see some of that lol
And Aemma and Oldgon…. Just thinking about Aemma makes me sad tbh. She lived a deeply tragic life from the start, and she seemed to have been a very sweet person as far as I can tell. I think she and Oldgon were kindred spirits in a lot of ways, and even though he’s never been able to articulate it even to himself, I think she was his first love, really. Obviously nothing could come of it, so they remained deeply close friends instead.
Will Viserys and Oldgon talk about what happened to Aemma? Well….
Tumblr media
Let’s just say that’s coming.
I’ve actually been thinking of redoing my tags and removing Rhaenicent from them. To me, it’s fairly easy to read between the lines and see that Alicent and Rhaenyra both are still dealing (or failing to deal) with their past friendship and feelings, but Oldgon is never really going to catch onto them. And Criston and Alicent are never going to talk about both their pasts with Rhaenyra to Aegon, but I think they will hint at it? Idk.
(My favorite Sansa quote probably is “A pure world, Sansa thought. I do not belong here. Yet she stepped out all the same. Something about it… “she stepped out all the same”….. CHILLS)
My controversial opinion is that I don’t think Aemond and Sansa suit each other at all. I’ve read the odd Aemondsa fic and enjoyed it, but they’ve just got wildly different vibes, and I don’t think either of them would find the other particularly attractive or fulfilling. It’s just not for me, I think there’s a certain fandom bicycle effect in here lol. I really don’t think it’s comparable to Jonsa, Jon and Aemond are just…. So different.

i’m sorry but i have become a harwin and laena hater because of their stans. they’re so annoying, making everyone think their headcanon are canon when it’s not, annoying everyone with it. i just can’t. ‘harwin was better than daemon’ when and where???? ‘daemon only loved laena’ when and where??? ‘laena was never a second choice’ hum but daemon married her because viserys said no to rhaenyra and him which, by definition, does make her a second choice…
the dick riding for harwin and laena is insane i just cant anymore. some of laena stans wish rhaenyra had died instead of laena, i swear. and for harwin? what did he do? what do we know about him? the two of them have not even one page PLEASE. again love who you want but this is starting to annoy me so much how they’re ditching daemyra and rhaenyra/daemon as individual characters for laena/harwin who are not even that important
Hi there and sorry for this delay ☺️
I have to say that because I have not searched the tags and have avoided reading anything since Redacted came out for I would argue obvious reasons, so I have only ever seen the Laena stans. Being here since 2018 I can tell you that Harwin stans were not a thing prior to redacted. No one cared about him, no one gave a f_ck. You actually had a LOT of Criston stans - I wonder why since so many outspoken bfn and "intellectuals" are anti targ 🙄 - some Daemon stans but Harwin was not even an afterthought.
Laena stans, however, those I know and WOW. Just today I saw a post about how people prefer characters they can insert into rather than characters with too many flaws and personality that they can't really insert to and the example for Rhaenyra was Alicent.
I laughed because clearly this is about redacted. Any asoiaf fans know that Laena was always the unsalted bread to Rhaenyra's personality that people loved to self insert into to the point where if you first read the fandom takes and then the book, you would think "B:tch I want my money back! 'Cause none of that is in here!"
For what is worth, however, in my fic "The Year of the Red Spring" I do not romanticise what was going on between Harwin and Rhaenyra, and he's not painted on the best light and I had a total of 0 Harwin stans complain. You know who did come to spew BS and have a temper tantrum however? A so-called "Daemyra fan" who seems to think she's reading "Pride and Prejudice" whose idea of Daemon is Matt but with a hard d:ck and thinks its fine to go around fanfictions to insult the authors - because I know I was not the only one she has done this to. And if she ever reads this, you should to get off the internet and learn how to re-direct your anger.
So in a sense, because the Harwin stans are actually Harlose stans and because I don't care about redacted and its characters I... I don't care 🤷🏽‍♀️ I have yet to encounter real BS about canon Harwin Strong so I can't have strong feelings there. Repeating myself for most of my fandom experience he was ignored and treated like a disposable vibr_tor or less while Laena was made out to be the main character 🤷🏽‍♀️

I don’t know how to put it, but most fans of Rhaenicent are more fans of Alicent than of Rhaenyra. They only enjoy seeing her miserable to romanticize her and push that narrative of 'repressed lesbians.' It's as if her suffering and turning her into a miserable, pathetic lesbian excites them, but it’s not because they’re bigger fans of Rhaenyra. They constantly change Rhaenyra's character, including her appearance, to turn her into a man so she can be Alicent’s simp accessory boyfriend.
If you dive into their fandom on Twitter, you’ll see them constantly throwing Rhaenyra under the bus to victimize and defend Alicent. Or do you all forget that the TB/Rhaenyra stans were against that friendship and ship since the first season?
Rhaenicent even has a whole thread dedicated to hating Rhaenyra (which is constantly updated), and you’ll see several prominent Rhaenicent accounts pushing that narrative of 'Alicent, the miserable repressed lesbian' while hating on Rhaenyra or throwing her under the bus to defend and justify Alicent, including TikTok editors who are Rhaenicent fans.

Yes, I am aware of the team green rh@enicet part of the fandom.
But I also see Rhaenyra fans that are team black being pro Rh/enicest a lot and haters of Daemon. 🤷
That is why I majority put anti rh@enicest as tag.
But majority TB are daemyra fans.
Said that, the reason why I don't consider they truly Alicent fans and you could extend this to Rhaenyra too to some extension. Is that they truly don't like the character. But the idea they created of her, that is not really a good representation of her.
Are really they fans if everything you like about a character is the HC you created about her?
I saw in real time they saying they could not support Alicent no more after she fucking with Cole, and then 5 minutes after starting the cope of " she is only fucking cole to get close to Rhaenyra"
Here on Tumblr is a bit difference because people are more open to multi shipping and have more nuanced thoughs. But here is the minority.
