Username Fic Game

@wurzelbertzwerg tagged me for this so I'll give it a whirl. Just an aside that it's a little intimidating to recommend stories to the void, to pick a list that is varied across different fandoms and

Rules: Take each letter of your username and rec a fic whose title starts with that same letter! Then feel free to pass it on to your friends.

I think we can tell that I don't recognize the authority of whoever established the rule to this game. I used my AO3 name -- snafsnaf -- so I'd have fewer letters to recommend for and then I totally substituted the letter sometimes when I really felt like it, which was a lot.

S - Stronger than we are by wurzelbertzwerg: Northanger Abbey AU with vampires! Catherine! Henry! Gothic thriller! This one has a body count.

N - Ouroboros: the Endless Cycle by WANMWAD: yeah, yeah, this isn't really an "N" titled story but allow me to recommend it anyway. It's Zootopia as a Meso American fantasy.

A - Anthophilia by fortinbrasftw: a Good Omens Human AU from 2015 that made me want to get an AO3 account just so I could bookmark it.

F - Five Times Frederick Wentworth Had the Breath Knocked Out of Him On the Ice (and one time he let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding) by amarguerite: a modern , Canadian, Figure Skating AU of Persuasion. The slow burn is already baked in!

S - In Favor with Their Stars by mxmollusca: the last word in the title begins with "S". Our Flag Means Death,,, in space! But not space pirates.

N - Gentle Antidote by x_los: this has 2 Ns in the title and neither is the first letter of a word. It's a Peter Wimsey/Harriet Vane soulmates AU. I read soulmate AUs but I don't bookmark them, except this one.

A - Anywhere, I would have followed you (Say Something) by Indygodusk: angsty Miraculous Ladybug. I watched my inbox religiously for updates when it was coming out.

F - Fear of Wolves by untoughphotoreceptor: Dramione reimagining of Little Red Riding Hood.

I really am terrible at ending these and passing them onto someone else so I'll just offer this up to the universe. Are you reading this? Tag, you're it!

Part of the reason that Republicans are so desperately acting like they will never lose again is because they are deeply terrified that this is their last real chance to win. The big orange dipshit came in and gutted the party of everyone who wasn't a loyalist, which left it full of nasty little gremlins who have gaping voids where charisma and human decency is supposed to go.

They still hold a lot of power, but if we stop them this year the next presidential election may not be the Most Important One Of Your Life™, that's not a guarantee or anything, but if they don't win here and now their future looks grim, this dipshit is the only guy they have left and he's extremely diminished and has his brains leaking out of his ears at this point. We can beat him into the ground.

So that's what we're gonna fucking do. We're gonna break these fucking fash. They will crash upon us and we're gonna break their fucking necks. When they come for us they will lose because they're fucking losers and we have each other's backs which is something they fundamentally are incapable of comprehending.

I'll leave you with this thought for the night, gallows-humor though it is: even the lowest-informed, misguided, confused, and sometimes let-us-say-it flatly moronic people in America like to vote and take it for granted that they can meaningfully do so on a regular and expected basis. So if the evil orange and company actually try to make good on this whole no more democracy and/or actual elections thing, I really don't see it working out well for them.

look i understand if people just don't like the idea of billford, i think we have a different internal concept of what shipping means (they're not good for each other at all but i need to dissect their dynamic like a bug. you understand. it's fun) but it's fine to avoid things you don't like, good for you genuinely

however people saying they like. don't see it. like. i'm not saying there's no platonic way to read it, i'm aroace spec myself i'm all for reading things in different ways. but i do think saying they weren't partners in any queer sense at all is trying too hard to go against what the narrative is trying to say, or missing it. somehow

anyway media literacy time if a character makes a joke like this

and the previous context of that joke within the show is that it's about an ex wife. what connection do you think the text is trying to get you to make.

and that's just from a writing point of view. not even noting that from an in universe perspective ford likely knows the joke from the same source as stan. and is therefore. placing himself in that role of the joke are you seeing where i'm coming from

(not to mention bill's side of this text which is. extremely manipulative but also does not read very platonic. again, it can technically be read as platonic! bill literally can manipulate ford's feelings. but the specific wording used is very much meant to look like possessive ex partner wording whether the character means it that way or not. it's coding. look again i'm not saying it was good for them i'm just saying there was something there.)

and then there's also the divorce/break up/rock bottom input on the website. like. how else is that supposed to be read. and the corresponding page in the book itself.

the language being used here. like yes he's saying it in a joking way but then there's the other side that isn't joking which is him crying at the bar. it's the both sides (the very coded language on top of the very genuine emotions and dynamic beneath)

i know most of us are on the same page with this i've just seen a couple people saying they don't see it when this is some of the most clear cut coding i've ever seen. and these are just the things that explicitly reference a relationship off the top of my head i'm not even including the general vibes of Everything

tl;dr it's barely even subtext anymore it's all but straight up text. what's not clicking have we forgotten what coding is (lighthearted i just enjoy the phrase what's not clicking. what's not clicking)

The worst thing Miguel and Jessica did to Gwen wasn't even threatening to send her home if she ever visits Miles, it's forcing her to choose their side during the chase scene and make Miles never want to see her again and once the chase scene ended they kicked her out. That's the kind of evil that the Spot was trying so hard to become.

Edit: just in case you forgot - they knew that prison and dead dad were waiting for her when they send her back home
