#i don't doubt that Dana could be a good partner- I really don't

Bit of a hot take here but I don't think Dana is a good significant other for Terry nor should be a permanent one.

AND I WISH THAT WASN'T THE CASE!!! I WANNA SEE THEY HYPE AROUND IT!!! BUT THE WRITING NEVER HELPS!!!

Near every time I pick up a Batman Beyond comic or rewatch an episode it always pins Dana against Terry and calls him out as a bad partner.

Now granted it makes sense! Terry is living a double-life and keeping it a secret from Dana and with such it does create problems in their relationship- I get it. Yet, when the writers make the decision to have Dana always mad at Terry for lying, to have Terry always be in the wrong in their relationship and for him to be the one to always repair it, it just doesn't sell to me.

Because when Terry took on the mantle of being Batman after the death of his father, he presented it to his family and friends as a demanding job he took on to help support his family. Losing his dad cost his family to be down a steady income and him having a criminal record already doesn't give much promises in finding a job to help support his family. Having this job is a literal life-saver for him, yet she doesn't seem to care.

Your gonna tell me that Terry didn't lay it out to Dana? That he didn't explain to her what the benefits he would be receiving from this job, that he is lucky to have gotten this opportunity despite his criminal background, yet he has to be on-call at all times despite it? That he didn't tell her he would do his best to prioritize their relationship and make time for her, yet that she has to understand that if he's needed he has to go, and that he has to be there for however long he is needed?

I've seen constantly Terry bending his back to make their relationship work, to making set dates with her and scrapping whatever ever free time he has to make it up to her, yet all I've seen in response of Dana is whining and indifference to his efforts in trying to keep her happy.

And I know there are moments when Dana is understanding, that she gives him leniency and lets him do him and waits for him at the end of the day- but it happens so little that I just can't get behind it.

It just frustrates to me that, with how far Terry goes in trying to maintain his relationships while still maintaining his duties as Batman, that same consideration he has for them is not returned back- or isn't often shown being returned back. He deserves happiness as much as anybody and to have support no matter how much info people know about whatever problem. Yet from what I've seen, Dana doesn't fit the bill.

"Remind me again why we're here?"

Scully playfully nudged him as they stood in the center of a large hotel ballroom. People in formal wear mingled about, stopping at various tables situated around the edges to place their bids.

Skinner had informed them they'd won (lost?) the lottery this year to staff the charity silent auction the FBI sponsored annually. Most agents were thrilled at the chance to spend an evening dressed up and mingling with the DC elite...but they weren't most agents.

Although Scully initially balked at the idea of spending a precious Saturday night at a work function she admitted she didn't hate the fact that they weren't off on some case hundreds of miles from home so close to Christmas.

She stole a glance at her partner as he surveyed the crowed warily. She'd second guessed herself when she put on the black floor length gown with an asymmetrical neckline earlier this evening. But any doubts were erased when Mulder stopped by to pick her up and his jaw practically hit the floor. She'd blushed and told him he didn't look so bad himself. Which was the understatement of the century. He looked devastatingly handsome in his tuxedo.

He looked at her then, a smile forming on his lips. "What?"

Their relationship had been teetering toward something the past few months. She could feel it. In the past she would've been embarrassed to be caught staring at him so blatantly but she simply shook her head slightly and smiled back at him.

After a beat, he grazed her shoulder and motioned to the bar at the far end of the ballroom. "I'm going to grab us a couple drinks."

"Mulder, we're working," she gently admonished.

"Hey, 'tis the season," he winked.

She watched as he purposefully made his way through the crowd.

"Dana!"

She turned and her eyes widened as she saw a familiar face approach. "Daniel? But...what are you doing here?"

"I'm on the Board of Directors at GW University Hospital. Moved here a few years ago." His eyes skimmed her from top to bottom and back again before adding, "You look fantastic." She caught the subtle predatory gleam in his eye that made her uneasy. "You know," he continued, "I've been to several of these but it's the first time I've seen you here."

"Well, I don't usually attend these types of functions."

"Ah yes, you're busy saving the world through...what was it I read?...investigations into the paranormal?" He gave her a sarcastic smirk.

She considered the man before her. Was he any different than the one she'd left all those years ago? The self-assuredness that she'd once found appealing just felt patronizing to her now. Nothing like Mulder, she thought. Even when he didn't fully trust her in the beginning there was still respect. He had questioned her motives for staying too but it came from a place of concern and, dare she admit it, love.

Just then her partner appeared at her side carrying two flutes of champagne and she quickly grabbed one. "Oh! Um...Daniel this is Agent Fox Mulder. Mulder, this is Dr. Daniel Waterston. He was my...professor in medical school."

She could see the older man sizing him up as they shook hands. "Pleased to meet you," he said in a way that sounded like he was anything but. "I was just discussing with Dana how her talents are being wasted at the FBI."

She saw a slight tensing of Mulder's jaw that would be imperceptible to anyone who hadn't known him as long as she had. "Actually, I'd say it's a perfect fit. Her medical expertise is critical to the success of our division."

Daniel scoffed at him, "Right, I'm sure chasing aliens and monsters is exactly what she'd hoped to be doing at this point in her career." He turned his attention back to her. "You know, I'd really like the chance to reconnect...both professionally and personally."

On instinct she grasped Mulder's free hand with her own. "I'm sorry, but I don't think that's a good idea." She looked up at her partner as he raised his eyebrows slightly. She sincerely hoped their unspoken communication wouldn't fail her now.

Daniel's eyes narrowed as he waved his hand vaguely between them. "So you two are..."

"Together, yes," Scully interrupted him before he could put a label on it.

"I assumed you were just coworkers."

Mulder, not missing a beat, simply stated, "Well, we're not just coworkers although we certainly started out that way. She means more to me than I can ever truly express."

His voice had dropped to almost a whisper as if the last sentence was meant only for her. He brought their interlaced fingers to his lips to place a gentle kiss to her knuckles. She blushed from head to toe under the intensity of his gaze and she felt the air crackle with energy between them.

After what felt like an eternity Daniel cleared his throat. "Well...good seeing you, Dana." She was only vaguely aware of him retreating back into the crowd.

Mulder absently rubbed his thumb against the back of her hand. "So...old friend of yours?"

"Not really," she smiled affectionately at him.

A waiter passed them and they took the opportunity to place their untouched champagne flutes on the tray.

She decided right then she wouldn't be content to wait and see when the teetering would finally send them over the edge. Their hands still entwined, she pulled him determinedly towards the ballroom exit.

"What are you doing?" he asked, amusement in his voice.

She slowed only long enough to give him a heated look. "Giving fate a push."

The most painful love crush/disappointment in life? When the guy I dated last before meeting Danas broke up with me. We dated for about 6 months and he broke up on january 1st, and I just hadn't seen it coming. The most romantic thing ever? if I don't say my proposal then what am I even doing? last year on our fifth anniversary Danas took me to the national park close by where we went to on our first date. He took me to the exact same bench we sat at that day and then he became all fidgety and nervous after a few minutes and then got down on one knee and asked the question. he was so relieved he had asked and that I said yes that he forgot to put the ring on my finger and I had to remind him. Just a run down of all the shit that happen these ep. Which I mean they were good but it was like I was recovering from sun burns. I was burnt out- at this point im so done. I've accepted the fact no one truly likes you.

Suresh Gabi and LuLu cause im not splitting them up to talk about them.

Suresh does not care about you until you stop caring about him. Then he does everything in his power, to get you to look at him. When it comes to confronting him about 5 fucking months of a relationship. God have mercy on you if your romancing him. Because he tells you to go fuck yourself.

He then clearly enters a 3 way with Gabi and Lulu. It is clear as the sky is blue that he is shacking up with both. And I can't tell if lulu is into or stuck in that shit situation. He does everything in his power to fuck you over as much as possible. After all those sweet nothing it means nothing.

Alfie and Meera

Is a better friend than a romantic partner. It is such a fucking tonal shift from how he was before. He openly talks to you more, he's worried about you and your new relationship. He knows that you don't actually like Johnny or Nicolas. They are clearly a means to an end just to see how far you can take it.

He wanted to be with Meera and it shows.

Meera not as confident as she wants people to believe. She wouldn't have put MC up as an option for dumping if she didn't want you gone. Because again when your not dating him you can get really close by being friends. In a relationship it's a nightmare.

That being said I fear that a life and Meera will be dumped to keep the drama of Gabi and Dana. Speaking of which-

Dana

Dana gets every bad thing coming to her. She let her trust issues take the wheel and drive her off a cliff into a ditch-sized grave. She has the fucking nerve to pull you aside to talk. About how she scared about her relationship with Gabi. As if I should give a fuck when she hopped her merry ass over to her.

Not once has she said sorry for cheating and it's probably the same way for the people who dated Alfie. She talked all this good shit about being the one and committing to the relationship. That the slightest bump made her act a fool.

She even told Eddie that she was upset you had fucking baggage and didn't believe anything you said. How you may still had feeling for your ex.

You wanna know who still has feeling for their ex. Gabi!

Finn

I want to believe Finn has been having secret feelings for us. But he has laid none of the groundwork for it. Maybe some moment when your hand touch or when you hang out. If you're trying to pull a Bobby I've been in love with you this whole time moment. You gotta try harder.

The problem is I believe him a little bit because at this stage their no reason to lie. If he wanted to fuck MC he could have many of times without love being the point. Sheesh is the prime example. Finn has zero risk of going home so why say something now.

If Finn wants to actually grab MC he has to be honest. He has to in front of everyone break up with Kat and say he wants to be with MC. Which I doubt he will, maybe because these feelings aren't real or he's scared. It to late in the game for a sudden shift like this.

Just like it way to late to have feeling for anyone new.

Johnny

Johnny admittedly does not care about MC besides loving the drama. He at the very least fucking admits that. He like a good fuck buddy. He not trying to pull any games-

I also saw Casa spoilers today where Turtle tattoo girl is in the girls CA, but I wrote this before I knew and I’m not changing it now. Also this was supposed to be a one shot, but I have written a part 2 because Arlo annoyed me in today chapters. I will link onto this ask when I am done writing it. I will tags those who ask.

She stared at herself in the mirror, she felt nervous, her heart hoped he had meant what he said before leaving for Casa Amor, but her gut was telling her, he'd bring someone back.

"Earth to Chloe!" Dana calls over, "huh? Sorry! What?" Dana rolls her eyes, "I said what has you so lost in thought?"

"She's probably wondering if Suresh brought back a Casa girl!" Kat looks over at Chloe, "am I right?" Chloe nods, "Suresh being Suresh, he probably has!" Arlo smugly smirks.

"I don't think he will, he wants to win Chloe back and the only way to show he has change is to stay single!" Dana nudges her, Chloe gives her a grateful smile. She might have a point! Chloe thought.

"What about you ladies? Do you think your lads will stay loyal?" Chloe asks as she checks over her make up one last time. "Finn knows a good thing when he sees it. No Casa girl will measure up to me" Kat finishes straightening her hair, Arlo laughs but Kat ignores her.

Chloe kept the chat her and Finn had before Casa to herself, she couldn't handle any more drama from her.

"Well, Suresh is clearly still into Chloe. If he stays loyal which is doubtful, he hasn't stayed loyal for me" Arlo shrugs, "what do you think?" Arlo spins the sequin dress clings to her body showing off her curves.

"Gorgeous!" Dana smiles up at her, "sizzle, show Suresh what he's missing. No offence Chlo!" Kat smiles over, "None taken!" Chloe starts to look through her wardrobe.

"What about Eddie? Do you think he stayed loyal?" Arlo asks her, but Dana frowns, "I hope he found someone in Casa"

"So you feel less guilty about Jonny?" Kat is as blunt as ever, "she has nothing to feel guilty about, you and Jonny had a better connection and that's not your fault" Chloe reminds her making Dana smile brightly at her.

Chloe pulls out a red dress figure hugging with a plunging neckline and a slit up to her hip bone.

"Whoa, Chlo! Suresh eyes are going to pop out his head!" Dana winks at her, "you are really going to give it ago with Suresh?" Kat asks her for the hundred time, "as I've said before if he hasn't coupled up, then I am willing to give him a second chance" She sprays herself with the perfume he brought her for Christmas, it always drove him wild.

Arlo's phone pings, she reads it out.

Chloe took a deep breath and looked herself over once more, Arlo was the first to make her way, "right girls. Let's get this show on the road!" Kat grabs Dana's and Chloe's hands pulling them along with her.

Down at the fire pit...

"I got a text!"

"Kat, you are up first!" she reads out and gets up from her seat, "the last few days with the Casa boys have been fun and I have never laughed so hard, but saying that there is one boy for me. I can't see anyone else competing with him, I have decided to stick with....Finn!"

"Yayl!" Dana cheers her on, Kat takes a deep breath as she hears footsteps, she looks down at her feet not wanted to see if he did the same, but when her eyes finally land on Finn...he's walking in with a new girl.

"Alright everybody!" he has a cheeky grin on his face until his eyes fall on Kat, who stands there alone. "You brought someone back?!" Kat hissed, he looks to Chloe then down at his feet, "well?" Kat called out to him again.

"Look Kat, I'm sorry, but the connection Gabrielle and I had was undeniable...." he's cut off, but Kat statistically laughing, "wait! Don't I know you?" Gabrielle shrugs, Chloe looks over the tattooed red head, Finn head hangs even more before realization of who she is dawns on Chloe, "you're the girl, Suresh cheated on me with!!"

"Can it get any better? Finn, you've out done yourself!" Kat ran her hands down her face, "you bring back the girl that ruined Chloe's relationship?"

Finn finally looks up, "Gabrielle didn't ruin it! Suresh did! He's the one that was in a relationship!"

"And you ruined what we had!" Kat's eyes glass over, Dana gets up to comfort her, "I'm sorry, Kat!" Finn's voice is almost a whisper, he moves towards the seat around the fire pit sitting as far away from Kat as possible.

Kat takes a deep breath, wiping away her tears and looking straight ahead.

Dana's phone pings, "Dana please stand and make a decision!" Dana reads out, she squeezes Kat's hand before getting up, "this wasn't an easy decision, but I have to put myself first. The Casa boys made me realize what was missing with my couple before and I'm excited to explore where this new connection. I have decided to switch, the boy I'd like to couple up with is....Jonny!" She smiles.

Finn looks up at Dana in shock, then over to Jonny who makes his way over to Dana. He pecks her cheek and they sit next to Kat, Finn looks annoyed. They hear footsteps walking along the wooden decking as she rounds the corner Dana looks up, Eddie comes in....single.

He has a pained expression on his face as he saw Dana had decided to switch, Dana doesn't know what to say, she offers him a soft smile, he returns it, "it is what it is! As long as she's happy!"

He wanders over and takes a seat next to Finn and Gabrielle as Arlo's phone pings, "Arlo have you decided to stick or switch?" she read out, she stood looking over at the Casa boys. "Before Casa I was coupled up with Suresh, but it quickly became clear he wasn't over his ex..." she looks towards Chloe, "...I'm not going to flog a dead horse anymore. I came in here to find love and I'm hoping one boy will help me do that. So, I'd like to switch and the boy I'd like to couple up with is...Nicholas!" Nicholas sighs with relief and takes a seat next to Arlo.

A few moments later Suresh appear from around the corner....single.

His eyes immediately go to Chloe, he smiles, making her smile back. He stayed single! He looks at Arlo with Nicholas and shrugs, he takes a seat next to Eddie. Arlo looks at him, she expected him to say something at least.

Chloe's phone pings, "Chloe will you stick or switch?" she reads out as she stand, "going into Casa Amor I thought maybe I'll meet someone who will knock my socks off, but even with all these new boys charging round the villa there was one boy I couldn't get out of my head. We weren't coupled up when he left, but the fact he came back single shows me, maybe he has changed and deserves a second chance..." she looks over to Suresh, who is grinning ear to ear, "....we still have a lot to talk about. But for me to switch wouldn't be fair on any of you, so I have decided to stick with Alfie!"

Within a few seconds Alfie comes round the corner with a brunette, his face falls when he saw Chloe stood there single, "Chlo...I err, I'm sorry!" he looks down at his feet, the brunette squeezes his hand. Chloe smiles, "Alf, it's fine! I'm glad you found someone!" He looks up and smiles back at her.

"This is Emma by the way!" Emma waves, Chloe smiles back and takes a seat, Alfie and Emma take a seat next to Dana and Nicolas.

"What happens now?" Suresh looks around the group, "wait for it!" Eddie says.

Kat's phone pings, "Kat, Chloe, Suresh and Eddie. You are now single, but not for long, tomorrow night there will be a recoupling. #coupleup #plentymorefishinthesea"

Suresh looks over to Chloe with a smile, the group disburse around the villa, Chloe stays seated, Suresh moves round next to her, "second chance, huh?" He has a cheeky smile on his face, "not if you are going to be all smug about it!" He pretends to be offended.

"No Casa girls caught your eye?" he cups her face and presses his lips to hers, the kiss is electrifying, she can barely catch her breath. Pulling away, she smiles brightly at him, "not one girl came close to you and I wanted to prove to you that I could stay loyal!"

"Talking of loyalty, I saw Finn brought back Gabrielle" he sighed, "I wish he didn't," he looks to her, "have you spoken to her?"

"I did, only to tell her I'm not interested in rehashing the past," he tries to reassure her, "I was going to tell you as soon as I came back, she was in Casa but Finn brought her back before we had a chance to speak"

"You aren't remotely interested in her?" she studies his face, "she's the past, you are my future!" she could help smiling at his words. "Since we are being honest and if we are going to start a fresh, I want the slate wiped clean, no more secrets or lies!"

"Absolutely!" his thumb strokes her cheek, "Before you guys went to Casa Amor, Finn was considering coupling up with me. I kinda didn't have a chance to say anything to you about it because suddenly you were whisked off to Casa"

"Do you want to couple up with him?" his eye bore into her, "when he came in did I? Yes, because I was still mad at you. But the last few days I feel more drawn to you, so no! I do not want to couple up with him" Suresh smirks slightly.

"Chlo?" she looks up to a sheepish Alfie, "could I talk to you?" he asks, Suresh gets up, "come find me when you're done" he winks.

Alfie takes a seat, "look I'm sorry, I didn't know what to do until the last second....I was so confused..." she cuts him off placing a hand on his arm, "Alf, it's fine. I'm happy for you!" he looks relieved, "I just guessed it was best, you've told me so many times we are just friends..."

She stops him again, "Alfie, you don't have to explain yourself"

"You really didn't find anyone, huh?"

"Nah, I know Suresh did what he did, but I just didn't want to settle for someone I don't really like" she shrugs, "you know Suresh turned down every girl in Casa!" she looks at Alfie in shock, "really?" she pinches her brows together.

"Yeah, as soon as they started talking to him, Lulu tried pretty hard, but he pied her off!" inside she did a happy dance, "all I'm saying Chlo is maybe he has learned from his mistake"

"Thanks Alf!" she smiled at him, "Alfie?" Emma called over, "I better go and see what she wants. Thanks for understanding!" He gets up out of his seat and makes his way over to Emma. Chloe follows him to the kitchen where the others are, she could see Eddie gaze solely fixed on Dana and Jonny.

"How you feeling?" she nudges him, he turns to her, "not great if I'm honest, she found someone. I know things were great with us, but I planned to move to the next step and show her how much she means to me"

"Hey, it's still early days yet. It might not work out!" Chloe nudges him, "what about you? You said there was one of the OG boys deserved a second chance, now we are both single why don't we explore our conn..." Chloe holds her hand up to stop him.

"Sorry, Eddie, when you told me at the last recoupling you wanted to focus on Dana. That made me want to focus on what I wanted and in Casa I realised that's Suresh, even with his faults I can't see me getting to know anyone else" she smiles softly at him.

"I get it, I hope it works out for you!" he strolls off to speak to Kat, she watches Kat stare daggers at Finn and Gabrielle until Eddie sat next to her, she tears her gaze away from him when Eddie whispers in her ear.

Later...

The girls are getting ready for bed, "Chloe, could I talk to you?" Gabrielle looks over to her, Chloe huffs, "if it's about the past? I don't care, Suresh and I want to move past it! As long as you don't try anything with him we won't have a problem!" Chloe gets up and rummages through her underwear draw.

She pulls out a black lacy number, "oooh! Who's benefit is that for?" Dana winks over at her, "mine, Suresh and I are starting afresh. But I'm not going to give in, the boy has to work for it," she mischievously smirks as she pulls on the lingerie, "night girls!" she makes her way downstairs to fill her water bottle.

In the kitchen Suresh is making a tea, "hey beautiful" his eyes roam over her, "wow! You look stunning!" his eyes meet hers, "I just came to fill my water bottle before bed"

"I'm not even sure where we sleep?" he pours boiling water into his mug, "I was going to take one of the day beds actually" Chloe smiles filling her bottle.

"Mind if I join you?" he has a cocky smile plastered on his face, "I know I said I want to wipe the slate clean, but I'm not just going to jump back into it, Suresh. I want us to start over, but I'm not going to sleep with you."

"I meant to share a bed and that was all, we can spoon, but I won't push for more!" he stands inches in front of her.

"Promise?"

"On my life!" her eyes flicker between his, "I'll see you there," she moves passed him and gets into the daybed, a few minutes later he climbs in too. "I can't say I haven't missed this, us sharing a bed" a teasing smile appears on his face.

"It is nice, I spent every night in Casa on these daybeds with Kat" Suresh's arm wraps around her, his scent fills the air around her making her think of home. "I can't believe Kat stayed loyal, only for it to backfire" Suresh pulls her tighter to him.

She lays her head against his chest, "I heard you pied off every girl in Casa!" she smugly teases him, "like I said I wanted to prove to you I have changed. I want you back, that's something that hasn't changed" she looks up at him.

His eyes flicker between her, he cups her face, slowly he leans in and the kiss is soft at first. It quickly gets heated, he moves until he's hovering over her, their lips still fused together, her nails rack down his back making him groan. He peppers kisses along her jaw before pressing her lips along her pulse line, "hmmm....Suresh!" she moaned.

She was starting to think the no sex promise was a bad move, he makes his way back up to her lip he kisses her passionately, then pulls away and pulls her into his arms again, "night Chlo!"

"Night Suresh!" her eyes drift as he strokes her hair.....

My thoughts on the sexuality of some of my favorite X-files characters.

I posted this in my X-files amino back in June as part of a LGBTQ pride challenge and for some reason I only just thought to post it here as well.

Fox Mulder: openly bisexual

Mulder is so open sexually that I really don't think gender matters all that much to him. He does seem to prefer females but I wouldn't be even remotely surprised if he had a boyfriend or two in the past. I don't think he's flamboyant about his sexuality but I don't think he'd hide it at all either

My evidence:

In the season one episode "Ghost in the Machine" we meet an Mulder's ex-partner, Jerry, and I absolutely feel like there is an ex-lovers vibe to the both of them. They hug upon first seeing each other, Mulder looks incredibly happy to see him, when Mulder says they worked together Jerry corrects him to say they were partners at which point Mulder looks over at Scully as if to see her reaction. Mulder has this real guilty look to him. When Jerry acts a little self conscious Mulder is real quick to jump in and reassure him. They get in each other's personal space. It just really leaves me with the impression that they care deeply for one another and broke up for other reasons, perhaps the different career goals as Mulder tells Scully.

We also have Mulder with Krycek. From the very beginning of Krycek's involvement with the X-files I feel like the writers went out of their way to make a correlation between the change in partnership and a new partner in a relationship. There is a scene in Sleepless where Mulder and Scully are on the phone and Mulder tells Krycek he'll be right there, the rest of the conversation feels reminiscent of two exes chatting about the change brought about by the new relationship. Scully even brings up that it must be nice having a partner who doesn't question his every theory.

There were many scenes in Sleepless, Duane Barry, and Ascension in which Mulder and Krycek were alone but that we never got to see who knows for example what the two of them got to talking about while they were stuck in traffic during the drive to New York in Sleepless. Or how often they hung out between Sleepless and Duane Barry.

During Mulder and Scully's partnership Mulder only called her 'Dana' on a few emotional occasions. He started casually calling Krycek 'Alex' almost immediately.

Let us not forget the infamous speedo scene. While yes it definitely showed more of a Krycek attraction to Mulder than the opposite. It does make one wonder what led him to wear such a revealing bathing suit. How many straight men do you know who wear speedos? My guess is few. How many straight men wear speedos when they can reasonably assume their male partner will show up looking for them? Not many would be guess.

And then there is their relationship after Krycek is revealed to be a traitor. They both tend to act more like scorned lovers than enemies and notice that it's Mulder, not Krycek, who cannot seem to keep his hands off the other. Seriously it's like every time Krycek shows up, Mulder immediately grabs him.

Now here's a couple quotes from Mulder,

Krycek tells Mulder he most be losing it because Krycek beat him with one hand. Mulder's immediate reaction: "isn't that how you like to beat yourself?"

When the little man in Humbug is lined up pretty much exactly with Mulder's crotch he says that Mulder would be surprised how many women find his size alluring. Mulder's immediate reaction: "you'd be surprised how many men do as well"

How many straight guys do you know comfortable enough with their sexuality to make a gay innuendo? I personally cannot think of any.

Dana Scully: bicurious

I believe that Scully is sometimes attracted to women. It definitely is not as blatant as with Mulder and I really don't think she's had any past girlfriends but I definitely think that there is an attraction.

My evidence:

In the episode "Ice" I really felt like there are a few tender moments between her and Felicity Huffman's character especially while they were examining one another for the worms. That examination had a sort of sexual energy to it I thought.

In the episode "kill switch" theres a moment where the Invisagoth asked if she could have her handcuffs removed or if she should type with her tongue. Mulder mentions that she doesn't want a vote there and the look on Scully's face and the way she licks her lips, I definitely get the impression that she would have been perfectly happy to see what Invisagoth could get up to with that tongue.

Some people point to Scully's relationship with Reyes as evidence of her bisexuality, I personally don't see any attraction there on Scully's side but I don't think its outside the realm of possibility.

Monica Reyes: Closeted lesbian

This one's probably a surprise I know there was something between here and Brad as well as a flirtation with Doggett so you would probably think she was Bisexual but honestly was either one of those even remotely convincing? To me they weren't. I believe that Reyes is a lesbian.

I kind of go back and forth on whether she's open about it. Reyes is very spiritual and open so it seems strange that she would be in the closet but maybe she has a reason, fear of it affecting her career in the FBI perhaps? It just seems strange that she keeps pursuing these heterosexual relationships she has no passion for unless she is trying to hide her true passion.

My evidence:

I admit I really have very little evidence but look at the relationship between Reyes and Brad Follmer. It had all the chemistry of two people who got really drunk once and cannot remember sleeping together. I don't for a second believe she was ever in love with Brad nor he in love with her.

Then you've got the same thing between her and Doggett. Yes the writers were obviously trying for a romantic angle with the two of them but to me it never came across as convincing. It seemed more like she thought of him as a good friend and figured she might as well date him, I saw no evidence of love or attraction.

On the other hand look at her and Scully. While I feel like the attraction there was one sided I definitely feel like Reyes was into Scully or Dana as she would call her. Reyes was willing to risk her life for Scully and yes that is her job after all but Reyes seems to take that above and beyond and it's not just Scully herself but also William. Look at how protective Reyes is of William in The Truth and of the sacrifice Scully made in giving him up. She seems to care even more than Mulder on that.

Cigarette-Smoking-Man: Asexual

CSM has probably had sex at some point, he is of course the father of at least three children but I do not think that he was ever in love with any of these women or even attracted to them. I believe they were all just a means to an end.

I believe that CSM's only love was for his cigarettes

Evidence:

There is a little bit of evidence that he might have actually felt something for Teena Mulder but I don't buy it. He freely admits that he felt nothing for Cassandra Spender but he must've been convincing if he got her to marry him and we have seen him fake emotions more than once. He also seemed to show an attraction to Scully in En Ami but that too was just a means to an end. Perhaps he does feel something towards all the women he has impregnated but I wouldn't call it love. I don't see any real attraction there either. My bet is that CSM needed some "help" in order to produce his offspring.

Alex Krycek: Gay

While Krycek did have an obviously sexual relationship with Marita Covarrubias he definitely didn't have any real feelings for her and I don't buy attraction either. No I'd say they were both just trying to use sex to get what they wanted. His anger at finding the Russian boy gone wasn't because he was heartbroken at her betrayal. Merely mad that she'd managed to get the upper hand.

Whether Krycek is open or in the closet I'm not sure, I'm thinking it probably depends on the mission hes on at the time.

Evidence:

Of everyone on this list I'd say Krycek is the one I'm the most sure of. There is no doubt in my mind that Krycek was attracted to, perhaps even in love with, Fox Mulder. From the very beginning there appeared to be a bit of longing in his eyes.

There was the speedo scene wherein Krycek was definitely checking Mulder out. There were several scenes where Krycek could've killed Mulder but chose to help him instead.

As I've seen pointed out before, Krycek's crazy motivational choices don't make any sense at all unless it's all in an effort to be around Mulder more.

Look at his sense of style and his obvious love for lip gloss. I am not saying that straight men cannot love lip gloss and dress themselves in Krycek's fashion but it is uncommon and it was especially so back in the 90s

The infamous kiss in The Red and the Black could certainly be explained away as some kind of Russian custom but it isn't one that I am aware of and he hasn't really shown any other signs of his Russia heritage.

I would say my best evidence of Krycek's sexuality is in Essence and Existence, just look at the look on Krycek's face when Mulder trusts him to protect Scully. Krycek knows what Scully means to Mulder and then look at how seriously Krycek takes the job! I definitely feel like that moment meant a lot to him and he would have protected Scully with his life for Mulder.

There's also the fact that Krycek's unwillingness to kill Mulder lead to his own death.

Of course asking Skinner to shoot Mulder goes against this theory but I do have a couple thoughts on that, the most sensical being that he knew there was no chance Skinner would shoot Mulder and he probably knew there was no chance he would survive anymore. Maybe he made that request in hopes of sparing Mulder any pain he might have otherwise felt at his death (I know it's a bit of a stretch but my other theories require a long explanation of my thoughts on where the series had planned to go next)

The lone gunmen: no one knows....not even them

Three (I don't count Jimmy for this) single adult men who all live together in very cramped quarters and are, at least in Langley's case, perfectly happy to be around each other without thier clothes on certainly makes it seem like there's something between them all but I really don't get a overtly gay impression with any of them, even Langley who as mentioned doesn't like to wear pants and is the only one who hasn't had a love interest. They just have this sort of Vegas-esque thing. "What happens in the bachelor pad/newspaper room stays in the bachelor pad/newspaper room.

I would love to hear other people's thoughts on these and any other X-files characters you think might be somewhere on the LGBTQ spectrum.
