Well. It landed in that hole in the floor, that was, until one minute ago, just a floor. It is now a hole in the floor, and Trent’s box of books is -

Trent kneels and looks through the now-hole in his floor. The floor is in two layers with a hollow space between them, and it looks like the wooden floor had already been broken, then covered up with something thin, and a whole lot of plaster.

“Well hi.” Someone says from the floor below.

Trent looks down, into the apartment directly beneath him, and loses the ability to think.
