So. I had been listening to a song and thought, 'Huh. This is going on for a while, isn't it?" So I checked, and.... hm.
#I DIDN'T KNOW YOU COULD HAVE A 37 MINUTE SONG#WHAT THE FUCK DEFTONES????????????? also long tags i start rambling about random stuff. as I do.#listening to their sophomore album. not as much a fan of it as some of their other stuff but it's still fun#i've really enjoyed exploring their discography more#even though I don't pay much attention to the lyrics#some music is mostly about lyrics to me but others it's just vibes#this is vibes to me#it is good noise!!!!#rather than something I'd take time to really listen to on a lyrical level. no meaning I really care to pick apart as of right now#Their lyrics seem somewhat sparse and like separate trains of thought anyways rather than cohesive stories within a song#not a bad thing at all!!!!! I like it. just an observation#but again I am saying this after liking a few main songs and only just now diving deeper into the discography#so maybe i'm entirely wrong!!!!#but it is somewhat shattered and meandering rather than start to finish like your bluegrass. not the linear storytelling aspect to it#not at all to say they're meaningless though because they aren't#just a bit more vague or winding and fractured about how they deliver that meaning I guess.#but again I can vibe with that#i do think a lot of rock songs tend to put more emphasis on emotion and sensation over story but that's a whole thing i won't get into#partially because it's past 1 am#but also partially because I don't have the actual intelligence on the topic to back myself up. it's purely anecdotal#just something I noticed#which could very easily be skewed by the type of music I gravitate towards within the genre for all I know#but again. 1 am. not the time to dissect the theoretical... uh.. methodology i guess? of how I would go about measuring that.#it's soooo interesting but I am not well versed enough to really discuss it BUT I WANT TO BE#goddamn it I wish I had been more. uh. well in high school. I would have loved the analysis stuff#shakespeare actually is very fun to read!!!!! but that gets into a whole other thing i have about how schools tend to teach stuff like that#they suck the fun and theatrics out of it#and it's the fun and fascination that drives kids to want to pick it apart and think about it.#but again. whole other topic. goodnight i am cutting this off here before i keep going about random shit

1, 2, 3, 6 for both of them?
1. if one of their friends was jumping on a bed and asked your character to join them, would they?
Both of them hard yes. Aktare Loves situations and would love to show off the new backflip meta she's invented. Rosencrantz hard "why not". He would probably eat shit immediately but he'd be fine so
2. would your character carry around a tiny bath and body works hand sanitizer? if yes, would it have a specific scent?
Rosencrantz would adore hand sanitizer for anything but he'd carry around a normal sized bottle I think and it would be unscented because he unironically likes it. His incense smells like licorice and disinfectant canonically so if you gave him actual hand sanitizer he would appreciate it. They put alcohol in a gel huh? That's crazy
Aktare however is definitely the target market for this but xe hates how hand sanitizer makes xer hands feel so while she would enthusiastically steal hand sanitizers with funny scents by the handful she wouldn't end up carrying any around
3. does your character paint their nails? do they wait for them to dry fully afterwards?
Aktare does when she gets xer hands on the material to! Xer nails grow quickly so when she's staying somewhere with access to nail polish xe can do it a lot. She is awful at waiting for them to dry though
Rosen doesn't do it on his own steam but Aktare wanted to prove xer skills so she painted his nails abt it because if anyone can sit there not using its hands for 5 hours it's Rosencrantz. It was a good day
6. what parts of your character’s voice/manner of speaking are distinct, if any?
Aktare I've actually not played at a table in a long while, and her voice I'm still kind of wrangling, but where I'm at with xer, I think the most notable thing is the range. In one man band fashion xer vocal range is quite wide (I think lower than mine– she can get down to at least a countertenor and up to a nice mezzosoprano), and while xer speaking vc is very bright and brassy, her singing or storytelling voice is much darker and fuller – it's very much a fundamentally different register like she's just making the sound differently bc xe learned that as a particular tradition. She gestures in a way that Looks very flamboyant and expressive but is also generally intentional/presentational (one of the big Gestures is lashing her tail against the floor or smth else, to get attention or punctuate a point); most of xer gestures are On Purpose as opposed to smth that just happens. She still does them when more relaxed (she finds it fun and it's not like unnatural just intentional + it helps xer get her point across) but also rocks/sways back and forth more and tenses/untenses up (actual stims). She also speaks w/ a cadence with Specific Emphases, so you can Follow her better, like a PSA with keywords bolded; this is both smth she uses/learned for storytelling and song and smth xe just uses in conversation.
Rosencrantz was always more emotionally subdued + had some degree of blunted affect, which became more pronounced after he died; it's mixed in with a dose of emotional blunting and of intentional apathy/detachment but even most of what breaks thru those gets blunted to varying degrees – this is most evident in body language (he's generally very still, gesturing very little and fidgeting not at all; all of his movements Look intentional and heavy/stiff. One of the only gestures he does for emphasis is Looking Over At You; again it's got a noticeable weight and clunk to it, almost rolling eyes or head over at you. Otherwise he tends to stare off into space, his drink, the floor, the opposite wall, etc) but also in tone. On the whole it just gives like he doesn't want to move unless he has a reason to, and he processes this as mostly "not caring enough" to vary his tone/pitch of speech, but were he to try to do so, he'd struggle with it
His speech cadence is also monotone w/ him not really pausing In sentences (at commas etc); this would make him hard to listen to/droning, but his sentences tend to be pretty short/to the point. Introduction script of "I'm Rosencrantz. I'm a cleric." is so iconic to him in particular I'd b remiss not to mention it; in general though he tends to drop words, especially subjects, except for emphasis
#I didn't actually intend to make them foils in speech . Anyway Aktare is very intentional in her conversation#But that intention is also factoring into appearing natural; Rosencrantz is the opposite

This week on Great Albums: we are FINALLY talking about the Pet Shop Boys! They’ve only been my favourite band since I was, like, eight. Whether you want to understand the hype or you’re already Team PSB, come check out this video and hear all about 1990′s Behaviour. (Or read the transcript, below the break.)
Welcome to Passionate Reply, and welcome to Great Albums! It’s time for me to finally do a video on one of my favourite bands of all time, and the very first band I obsessed over when I was a kid: the Pet Shop Boys! Their fourth LP, 1990’s Behaviour, is considered by many to be their best work, and it’s also one of my personal favourites of theirs, so it seems like a great place to start.
The preceding Pet Shop Boys LP, 1988’s Introspective, was their deepest dive into densely-arranged, nightclub-ready post-disco compositions. Nowadays, people tend to praise it for its more experimental and baroque qualities, but it’s also very much a party album, blending synth-pop with house and rave influences.
Music: “Domino Dancing”
At the cusp of the 1990s, there was certainly no shortage of interest in upbeat, rave-y party music, and the so-called “Madchester” scene was in full swing. But the Pet Shop Boys’ follow-up to Introspective would take their sound in a different direction. They went to Germany to work with Harold Faltermeyer, best known for his instrumental synth smash “Axel F.” There, surrounded by Faltermeyer’s collection of analogue synthesisers, they would create an album that was...well, kind of a downer.
Music: “Being Boring”
Behaviour’s opener, “Being Boring,” is a track whose reputation probably precedes it--it’s one of the best known Pet Shop Boys songs, and over the last thirty years, it’s become emblematic of its era. “Being Boring” is a stark and pensive reflection on the tragedy of the young lives lost to the AIDS epidemic, and the uncanny strangeness of getting older while knowing a lot of others didn’t have that luxury. But at the same time, there’s something surprisingly jubilant and triumphant about the way that chorus rises up, almost like exultation at having survived, even though the verses feel more downbeat. Lyrically, the focus on “having never been boring” puts focus on having lived a vibrant life moreso than it does the silence of the crypt. Behaviour might be a somber album, but it’s not without a sense of hope or optimism; just listen to the track “The End of the World.”
Music: “The End of the World”
While “Being Boring” deals with the very adult gravity of death, grief, and survivorship, “The End of the World” asks us to imagine the petty romantic squabblings of teenagers, and their magnified sense of importance. While its title is a bit ambiguous, the song itself is quite clear: what is going on here is, by no means, the end of the world! Like I said, Behaviour is far from all doom and gloom, though it has sort of gotten that reputation. While acclaim for Behaviour is certainly as common among hardcore Pet Shop Boys fans as it is anyone else, I’m tempted to think that some of the praise it receives from relative outsiders is connected to this perception of it as the “serious” Pet Shop Boys album, that deals with real issues instead of being packed with fun pop songs. While I like gloomy, serious music as much as anybody, and personally prefer it to the more light-hearted releases, there’s no reason to predicate appreciation for the Pet Shop Boys on their being cerebral or high-minded. But that seems to be a common plague of a lot of music criticism, particularly of that rockist sort. The track “How Can You Expect To Be Taken Seriously?” serves as its own sort of commentary on rock culture.
Music: “How Can You Expect To Be Taken Seriously?”
In “How Can You Expect To Be Taken Seriously?”, the titular question is posed to rock stars whose inflated egos make them think they have something meaningful to say about big issues like politics. The song’s rougher soundscape stands out against dreamier tracks like “Being Boring,” and perhaps kicks it slightly closer to sounding like a rock song. While I can certainly get behind a song that mocks rock and roll self-righteousness, it does seem a bit ironic in the context of Behaviour, an album that would see the Pet Shop Boys making a clear effort to tackle meaty, real-world issues. I suppose that any album released by artists who were already established in their career might be expected to include some consideration for the dilemmas that come with that territory. Another track that explores this theme is “My October Symphony.”
Music: “My October Symphony”
While never released as a single, “My October Symphony” is a popular track nonetheless. It was inspired by the life of the great Russian composer, Dmitri Shostakovich, and portrays the grave uncertainties presented to the artist by the collapse of Communism, and with it, the prevailing sense of mythology and moral values. Given the themes involved, many have interpreted it as a track that obliquely questions where famous queer artists like the Pet Shop Boys were going, in a world that had been devastated by AIDS. While it’s about a very different kind of musician, I certainly like to think it’s a track that “rhymes” with “How Can You Expect To Be Taken Seriously?”, in that it also questions the relationship between artists and the values of the society around them.
Behaviour’s cover art recalls that of the Pet Shop Boys’ 1986 debut, Please, with a strong emphasis on empty, white space, and a small design in the center. While the relationship of its four panels is ambiguous, it could be interpreted as a representation of death--as a face turns away, the human figures disappear, leaving the still, unchanged inanimate objects behind. As children, we quickly learn that not being able to see something doesn’t mean the thing is truly gone, but nevertheless, we sometimes have a tendency to ignore things we wish would go away. Perhaps the cover of Behaviour is an allusion to the way world governments buried their heads in the sand, so to speak, regarding the AIDS crisis, hoping it would conveniently die down and vanish when it wasn’t being observed.
The title of “Behaviour” is perhaps even more mysterious and up to interpretation than the cover. There’s something very detached and clinical about that word--an impersonal ambiance. I’m reminded of the seemingly unsympathetic narrators of several tracks, such as “The End of the World” and “How Can You Expect To Be Taken Seriously?”, that seem to cast judgment on the actions of others without taking an interest in their emotional internality. They discuss “behaviours” as cut and dry phenomena, and focus on the actions that people take. While neutrality can be cold and condemnatory, it can also be a welcome change when introduced to a subject traditionally treated with hostility. In that light, I’m tempted to think of the title as referring to homosexual “behaviour,” contextualizing sexuality as less of a fixed identity, and something that one intrinsically “is,” and more about an action, a decision, something that one “does”--a mentality that a lot of people find rather liberating.
In introducing Behaviour, I described it as an album that’s often considered the Pet Shop Boys’ best work. But their 1993 followup to it, Very, is also a strong contender for that title, in the hearts of many of their biggest fans. *Very* has a lot more in common with *Introspective* than it does Behaviour, going back to rich, dense productions and upbeat, poppy love songs. The fact that the Pet Shop Boys managed to pull off two very different, but both very acclaimed, releases back to back speaks volumes about why people love them as much as they do. Whether you like them or not, they’re undoubtedly one of those artists who some people can turn to in just about any mood, or any season of life, and that’s a powerful thing.
Music: “I Wouldn’t Normally Do This Kind of Thing”
My favourite track on Behaviour is its lead single, “So Hard.” It’s one of my all-time favourite Pet Shop Boys tracks, and almost certainly my favourite of their singles. With its wryly bitter narrative of two-timing lovers, and harsh, clattering analogue synthesiser soundscape, “So Hard” has a pretty different feel to the rest of the album--dark and ominous, without that wistful, sentimental aura. But that’s exactly why I like it. The Pet Shop Boys were among the first artists to deliberately adopt analogue synths for the subjective qualities of their sound, and this track employs them in a way that’s reminiscent of what artists tend to do with them nowadays. It’s punchy, with that clunky, mechanistic analogue quality to it. Not a typical Pet Shop Boys song, but a damn good one nonetheless! That’s all I’ve got for today, thanks for listening.
Outro: “So Hard”

By Small Ruin introducing a brand new studio single: Like Heaven
October 2020 - Bryan Mullis is the mastermind behind By Small Ruin, a unique rock band with a raw, and energetic sound, in the vein of artists such as Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro, Dead Rituals, and more.
There are many things that truly stand out about the artist and his music. One of them is most definitely the fact that they are so seamlessly capable of creating some amazingly catchy melodies, but without ever compromising when it comes to the energy of their songs. The band recently released a brand new single titled Like Heaven, which stands out as a perfect representation of what I’m talking about. First off, I tend to really focus on how music sounds being a studio nerd myself. It is safe to say, being familiar with the group and their music I was expecting really high-quality and the bar was set very high from the get-go. It was clear from the very first few seconds that they did not disappoint! This song is every bit as good and intense as anything this group has put out in the past, and then some. Bryan managed to take the sound to a new level of power, with massive walls of guitars and a steady rhythm that matches the intensity of the vocals as well. They say that some of the best music is also about storytelling, and I could not agree more. What makes Like Heaven so special is the fact that the song is about feelings and love, but in such a way that it’s deeply personal and easy to relate to. Bryan came up with a song thinking about how it feels to finally meet that special someone and to experience something deeper than love. When your truly connect with another person you don’t just love them. They literally have the power to transform you. Someone that’s close to your heart can inspire you, can change you and turn you into a much better person. In this case, I particularly love how the intensity of the pop punk driven style of the music really creates a nice contrast with the emotional lyrics. On one side, the song is extremely personal and obviously close to the heart of this talented songwriter. On the other side, this is also the kind of song that you would definitely love to crank up! So, set the volume loud hit play and blast the songs from your speakers and headphones, because this is the kind of tune that’s so enjoyable and kind of irresistible. What’s interesting to me is the fact that Bryan actually has a country music background. He has been a busker for sometime, and this means that he learned how to develop songs by himself, not necessarily relying on a full band in order to achieve a rich and fully formed sound. Now, take all of this background and amazing experience, and translate it into a full band sound, with a steady rhythm and some killer guitar tones. The resulting mix is quite incredible, because By Small Ruin Managed to stay true to his roots and upbringing as a songwriter, meaning that he puts a lot more emphasis on quality lyrics. At the same time, he also knows what it takes to create songs they are very down to earth and immediate. I would not be surprised if fans of artists like blink-182 or Sum 41 would be into this one! Ultimately, this song has a really special approach to production, with a sound that feels clear and sophisticated, yet warm and organic. In addition to the world-class production aesthetics, the song is also lifted up the the artist’s remarkable performer, displaying a very dynamic vocal style that brings energy and vibrancy to the table, seamlessly blurring the lines between different styles and ideas.
Humble, direct, passionate and upfront, this talented artist embodies the qualities that I look for in good music and musicians, so this release is definitely a much welcome addition to my heavy rotation!
Find out more about “By Small Ruin,” and do not miss out on this exciting new studio release.

Song lyrics:
I know I don’t compare
Not in a million years
You are a queen and I’m a pawn
But I want you for my own
It feels like heaven when you’re here
How ’bout sticking around?
And just like heaven, you’re better than I am
You won’t let me fall down
Was living on the edge
Now I hang with you instead
You helped me find that higher law
You broke the cycle and I’m forever grateful because
It feels like heaven when you’re here
How ’bout sticking around?
And just like heaven, you’re better than I am
You won’t let me fall down
The heart you bring to everything
Your light can thaw frozen ground
You made me feel like a king
I woke up wearing a crown
Think back to when we met
And something that you said
You said I could do great things
I started to agree
You got me to believe
It feels like heaven when you’re here
How ’bout sticking around?
And just like heaven, you’re better than I am
You won’t let me fall down
You’re just like heaven

Tempo In Digital Music
Electronic music is music which uses non-conventional digital instrumentation and sound manipulation expertise as the first musical spine of a composition. "Free jazz" begins here, more or less. The saxophonist would get a lot further out (what's that piano doing right here?) but his first recording session established a brand new idea of improvisation: moderately than expressing themselves within traditional track constructions, musicians must act like spontaneous composers responding to what the opposite players had executed. But Coleman got here up on the R&B circuit, and if One thing Else!!!! was more forward-thinking than a lot up to date jazz it was additionally bluesier. One in all Ornette Coleman's greatest insights was that generally the most avant-garde music is also the truest to its roots, which you could demolish traditional musical architecture without abandoning the sounds that made these traditions once feel so alive. For instance, liuyvonne8349456.wapsite.me researchers found that individuals might make correct judgments about an individual's levels of extraversion, creativity, and open-mindedness after listening to 10 of their favorite songs. Extroverts tend to seek out songs with heavy bass traces while those that get pleasure from more complicated kinds comparable to jazz and classical music are typically more creative and have increased IQ-scores Rentfrow and Gosling have prolonged their studies, looking at the completely different sides of music that may be linked to preferences. I do not understand how people in India have the guts to even name Bollywood a music business. I mean, severely? A talent-much less bunch saying "Your eyes, your face, our love, our marriage" time and again in each tune. And www.audio-transcoder.com a few random-ass "rapper" who sometimes chips in to "rap", which all the time consists of "Get on the floor, yeah, groove it, yeah, yo, yo, move it". ninety nine.9% of the songs are like that. Plus, no production quality in any respect. All the pieces borrowed from different international music. Bollywood is simply industrial advertising and marketing noise which is offered off as music to a billion folks with no taste and no clue as to what real music is.
A examine out of Finland additionally regarded on the emotional properties of music and its impression on memory formation, however with a twist. It compared how music impacted the memories of those with musical backgrounds versus these without These with a musical background did better on the memory duties if impartial music was playing, rather than pleasurable music. The other was true for these without musical backgrounds. The conclusion drawn right here is that pleasurable music was too distracting to individuals with musical backgrounds. In essence, their brains were too busy analyzing the music they enjoyed to kind new reminiscences. While those with out a musical background have been reacting to the constructive emotions impressed by the pleasurable music, which helped them enhance their short-time period reminiscence. Your first major drawback, not one endemic to the style however one which plagues it in a key way — there's a plethora of bands that all sound the same and are most likely very horrible. Partially as a result of undeviating" nature or lack of evolution throughout the genre, death metal has a very discernible sound that can shortly become hackneyed. There are methods and tropes to any niche primarily based musical type, with some artists using them better than others to nice success while others are simply off-putting to the detriment of the genre. The style can be widely common among American teenagers , earning the second place and 15.three percent of votes in a survey in August 2012. The primary place and more than 18 percent of votes was awarded to pop music, rock scored 13.1 percent and landed in fourth place. Curiously, Christian music made it to prime 5 with nine p.c of votes. The younger generation is also broadly represented amongst nation music performers with such outstanding names as Taylor Swift (born in 1989), who was the very best paid musician in 2015, and Hunter Hayes (born in 1991). Immediately, EDM is usually characterized by remixes and unique sound mixes, produced by world-well-known DJs like The Chainsmokers , Steve Aoki , Martin Garrix and others, along with the ever-relevant Skrillex, David Guetta, Daft Punk and Tiësto. That said, electronic dance music and its subgenres are actually utilized by a big majority of pop and hip-hop artists, including the likes of Coldplay, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Drake, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Alessia Cara and numerous others.
Method back in 2016, Young Thug shared a photo of himself with Sir Elton John. For years, Elton John has been an avid fan of Young Thug, having heard the rapper on Beats 1 in 2015. Shortly after that, the two began engaged on a collaboration, and a song that includes Thug and Elton John's vocals from "Rocketman" has been rumored ever since. This 12 months, the two lastly made good on that promise, releasing the melodic and thoughtful "Excessive" featuring John's iconic hook. It is a flawless melding of two generations of pop stars, one which on paper could have been a catastrophe, but is genius given the talent of each musicians concerned.
For anybody who has ever practised these two dance genres or has some involvement with them, the answer may be apparent and the query might also sound pointless as contemporary dance and jazz dance are clearly completely different. Nonetheless, for the non initiated it may be tough to differentiate, particularly since these two dance genres typically affect one another and new forms of fusion are repeatedly created and performed. Before starting to practise each contemporary and jazz dance, I for one did not have a clear concept of the variations and at first I might haven't known how you can explain if there have been any variations.
Romantic music (c. 1810 to 1900) from the 19th century had many parts in widespread with the Romantic types in literature and portray of the era. Romanticism was an inventive, literary, and intellectual motion was characterized by its emphasis on emotion and individualism as well as glorification of all the previous and nature. Romantic music expanded past the rigid kinds and forms of the Classical era into extra passionate, dramatic expressive items and songs. Romantic composers comparable to Wagner and Brahms attempted to extend emotional expression and energy of their music to describe deeper truths or human emotions. With symphonic tone poems , composers tried to inform stories and evoke photographs or landscapes utilizing instrumental music. Some composers promoted nationalistic pleasure with patriotic orchestral music inspired by folks music The emotional and expressive qualities of music got here to take precedence over tradition.

VOCALOID legends - 2007 & 2008
#1 - I’ll Miku Miku You (For Reals) (ika) [Hatsune Miku]
Achievement Date: 07-10-15, Upload Date: 07-09-20
I think this song exemplifies the Nico Nico Song, or I guess the term is ‘denpa’. That heavy synth riff that feels cheesy but instantly memorable. The lyrics are almost a perfect introduction of Miku as a character as this suggestive but aggressive goddess. I’ll Miku Miku You, comes from the slang term meaning ‘I’ll beat you up’, after all. Still the most viewed Vocaloid song in Nico Nico and always will be, because this is a perfect introduction to Miku as a whole. And the variation at the end is unexpected.
#2 - Melt (ryo) [Hatsune Miku]
Achievement Date: 08-01-13, Upload Date: 07-12-07
If I’ll Miku Miku You was the introduction of Miku as a character, this is the introduction of Miku’s potential. We still have the memorable intro, but this time as a distorted guitar followed by Miku’s acapella, making it extra memorable. And there’s this impressive piano backing that always feels like exemplifies ryo’s writing, although I feel a heavy kz inspiration for this song, which he'll move away later in his 2008 songs.
Lyric is a sweet song about a somewhat tsundere teenager trying her best to get in orbit of love. Not quite being desperate but also trying to make it obvious. It adds to Miku’s flirting but aggressive nature from the previous song. And I just realized Suisei’s opening basically comes from one of the lines from this song. Huh.
#3 - Hikyou Sentai Urotander (kobapie) [KAITO, Miku, MEIKO]
Achievement Date: 08-05-10, Upload Date: 07-11-28
And now for something a bit exaggerated. A parody of an 80's mecha opening, and song that put KAITO on the map. KAITO is placed a bit high, as early KAITO songs tend to do. It has all the hallmarks of heavy 80’s songs, the heavily laid synths to the point the heavy drum feels light, as is… that a music box at the bridge? Lyrics are your typical 80’s opening with an emphasis on ‘unmanliness’ to give that (haha) feeling. It’s not a special song, but it’s a good song of the type that kobapie was going for.
#4 - World is Mine (ryo) [Hatsune Miku]
Achievement Date: 08-08-17, Upload Date: 08-05-31
Another of the intro songs to VOCALOID as a whole, and one that brought ryo into something beyond a one hit wonder. A Rollicking rock song that fully leans into ryo’s strength. Great driving drums and jazzy piano with somewhat heavy guitar, and Miku singing top of her lungs with the sassiness turned up to eleven. It is a representation of someone who’ll always be at the top of her game. Honestly, Miku is the weakest part here, and you can see why ryo moved on to writing human vocal songs.
#5 - The First Sound (malo) [Hatsune Miku]
Achievement Date: 08-09-21, Upload Date: 07-10-14
First ‘slow’ song on this list. Light piano accent makes the song have that little pop that keeps your interest and is a nice build to the full instrumental later. Lyrics is one of the dedication songs that is the bread and butter of early VOCALOID songs. While simple, the song lends nicely to a nice ending theme for festivals, I bet.
#6 - BLACK ROCK SHOOTER (ryo) [Hatsune Miku]
Achievement Date: 08-10-01, Upload Date: 08-06-13
Coming a month after World is Mine, one that solidified ryo as a hitmaker and a solid improvement from his previous songs, especially on the lyrics. This song puts its foot on the accelerator and never lets go, and the tuning is somewhat better? I think ryo does better in these emotional songs with a backstory. (Sorry for having this being too short. It really is a great song, one of the best from ryo. Just go and listen to it!)
#7 - Koisuru VOC@LOID (OSTER Project) [Hatsune Miku]
Achievement Date: 08-10-15, Upload Date: 07-09-13
One of the first VOCALOID hits and the first from long-running producer OSTER Project. A bit different from her usual jazz compositions which she is more known for, it still presents her as one with lots of ideas with little licks and motifs here and there. Lyrics are that dedication song, but more referential than most, with a nod to musical terms that OSTER Project always uses in her songs. And the English at the end is quite a feat, considering Miku did not have an English bank in the beginning…
#8 - Love is War (ryo) [Hatsune Miku]
Achievement Date: 08-11-04, Upload Date: 08-02-22
First hit rock song as ryo tries to expand the VOCALOID horizon. It’s not your typical rock song, kind of math rock instead of hard rock. Again, the weakest part is Miku, listen to any covers and see what power can this song provide with the right vocals. Lyrics is of a break-up song with the heaviness of the melodramatic, which again feeling more coying than aching coming from the ‘nice’ voice of Hatsune Miku.
#9 - The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku -DEAD END- (cosMo) [Hatsune Miku]
Achievement Date: 08-11-11, Upload Date: 08-04-08
cosMo’s most well-known song, and one of 10 Mythical songs. By the way, this is the extended second version, very different from the first version. It’s a fast song, but not unreachable, in fact it can’t be or we can’t process the words. I think the lyrics are actually quite sincere and touching for a song and a producer that is more known for being quite memetic and joke-heavy. And the music carries the incredibly fast beat without giving you the card except for in the fast ‘rap’ sections. It’s amazing.
#10 - Gonna Outrun You for Good! (ika, Bucchigiri-P) [Kagamine Rin]
Achievement Date: 08-12-01, Upload Date: 08-01-01
Rearrangement of I’ll Miku-Miku You adding a Eurobeat sound, akin to Initial D. And both the lyrics and music elevates the song, while the original has almost a relaxing feeling, this definitely ups the heartbeat making the song even more aggressive.

i saw Dear Evan Hansen for the second time on December 17 at the 3pm show, and figured I’d write a recap on it/comparisons between MLB and the show the first time and Noah/the show the second time!
i apologize in advance that this is so long! I’ll put it in a read more because i tend to ramble a lot and figured maybe people don’t want to read this because it’s probably going to be long? so you don’t have to scroll forever just to see this! but if you have any specific questions or you just want to talk about it you can always ask them i’m so willing to answer anything! :)
i write notes on my phone on the way home from shows i see every time, so i’m going to go through them and kind of make them more coherent for you guys :) i have one about MLB’s performance as well, so if anyone wants that i can do this again :)
starting with the theater:
the Music Box is honestly one of the most gorgeous theaters i’ve been to. It’s small in my opinion, but so intimate that i can honestly say wherever you sit is a good seat. I was in the mezzanine the first time around (like three row from the last row in the theater), and the orchestra this time, and both times i felt like i could feel everything just as well both times. the theater really lends itself to immersing you in the show and the storyline without feeling disconnected.
the show:
Act 1
there were no understudies on :)
in the opening when Evan is saying why it’s going to be a good day and why he shouldn’t have to worry, Noah pauses a lot, thinking about what he’s going to say. he puts a lot of emphasis on certain words but he was so funny about it and definitely played the part so well, i really believed how anxious he was about having a good day and just being himself and not worrying about anything
When Heidi enters, she spent a lot of time rubbing his back/shoulder and trying to encourage him that this year will be great. it felt so intimate if that makes sense? i’m not sure, it just felt like she was really rooting for him/was just as invested in him having a good year as she wishes he was
when the Murphy’s enter, Connor is playing with the spoon in his hand, generally looking high and not listening. Zoe bounces her leg uncontrollably like she’s constantly on edge by her family, and Larry is scrolling through his phone not paying attention.
when Cynthia says that Connor has to go to school, Mike leaned his head back to look at her, and kind of rested his head against her arm. I don’t know if it’s intentional or not (the first time i saw it i was off to the left and so i couldn’t see the angle i was at this time, but it was a cute thing i noticed and i’m not sure that it happens every time)
when Connor says fuck you to Zoe and Cynthia denies that he’s high Mike does this little smile that is so funny and cute at the same time before he storms off
Laura rolls her eyes when she says if Connor isn’t ready she’s going to leave without him
Will is INCREDIBLE at making things feel lighthearted when they seem to be getting too intense, and he starts right away like i love it.
Kristolyn delivers her lines so perfectly and when she’s talking to Evan on the first day of school you can’t help but laugh at how awkward things are
When Jared says Connor’s new hair length is very school shooter chic, Connor looks up with the huge smile on his face like he can’t believe he just said it.
He pushes Evan to the ground so hard (because i was so close i could hear a lot of the sounds on the stage that i didn’t hear before, and Mike’s hands slammed pretty hard into Noah’s chest. it didn’t seem like it hurt, but damn it sounded like it did) (also to be fair mike did slap his own leg, chest, arm quite a bit and he did it just as hard as he hit noah)
i was so impressed by Noah’s vocals the whole show? i wrote like in the notes that WTAW was incredible but? the whole show i was just so impressed by how great he was. i didn’t expect much mostly because i didn’t know much about him and i don’t know, but i definitely was blown away by him singing and playing this part that is so hard
when Connor goes to sign Evan’s cast and grabs his arm roughly, Noah yelps much louder than MLB did, which isn’t a bad thing, it’s just a little difference between the two
also when he asks Evan how he broke his arm and Evan says he fell out of a tree Connor says “that’s the saddest fucking thing i ever heard, oh my god” and kind of laughs. in this show when Mike laughed he didn’t even finish the word god he just sort of laughed through it, smiled and shook his head
at the end of For Forever, Cynthia just grabs Evan and hugs him so tight while thanking him a million times. it takes Evan a moment before he hugs back
will sincerely, me ever not be a bop? Noah and Mike definitely looked like they were having so much fun doing it, they were smiling and laughing at each other during the dance parts. also Will’s laugh in this song gives me life it’s so funny
Connor does this little smile after “dude i’m proud of you” and like points to himself and it’s so cute
when Connor says “my sister’s hot” Noah’s version of “what the hell” is more annoyed than horrified that Jared would write that
when they’re going through the bridge of sincerely, me, Evan like awkwardly grabs Connor’s arms when he says “dear connor murphy i’m just glad to be your friend” except Noah? rubbed Mike’s nipples? i collapsed
this isn’t specific to this point in the show, but Will mimics the pitch of Noah’s voice a lot when he’s mocking Evan, and it’s hilarious
Laura cried during requiem when she crumples the emails in her hand, Cynthia sobs into Connor’s pillow. she just holds it and rocks back and forth. Larry mostly just tries to hold it together
Evan got flustered a lot during If I Could Tell Her (fidgeting with his cast, his collar, really everything)
During Disappear when they’re telling the Murphy’s their plan Jared tries to butt in and Evan holds his arm out to stop him and Jared just looks upset that he’s not as included
When Cynthia tells Evan that Connor hadn’t been invited to a single bar mitzvah she is so upset and trying not to cry at the thought when she’s giving Evan the tie
in between Evan’s speech and the beginning of YWBF Evan drops his notecards and falls to the ground and has a borderline panic attack trying to collect himself in front of everyone. Noah portrays this INCREDIBLY well, it made me feel like he really was having a panic attack and my heart hurt just watching him struggle to breathe and shaking (side note his shoe fell off? i cannot for the life of me remember that happening to MLB, so i’m not sure that was planned)
during the bridge of YWBF baby pictures of Connor flash on the screen and Larry is center stage looking up at them. he breaks down, stumbling over with his hands on his knees, just crying. Cynthia runs over and embraces him, holding him tight as they both sob. (i could hear both JLT and Michael Park just sobbing holding each other and it was so heartbreaking)
Act 2
the first song is a sincerely, me reprise, and Will and Mike were making each other laugh so much when they were doing it it was funny. (when they say hey to each other they both did really weird voices omfg). when Evan interrupts them and says Jared can’t make things up Jared pushes Connor off the stage
during to break in a glove, Larry bites his lip to try to stop himself from getting emotional just after “you’re just trying to do your best to a kid who’s lost control”
Evan finally invites Zoe over, and when she says they need to talk he’s scared she’s breaking up with him and rambles about how he doesn’t even know if they’re dating officially. she stops him and says she’s not breaking up with him, and he reaches out and rests his hands on her arm and is like “thank you” and she laughs and does it back to him and goes “you’re welcome it’s so awkwardly hilarious
during only us Zoe just seems so appreciative of Evan? they were super cute
the scene where the Murphy’s offer Evan Connor’s scholarship money for college is so tense and awkward that you can’t help but feel something watching it. it’s so beautifully written and acted out, but god is it tough to watch
Evan and Heidi’s fight just after is SO TENSE. Evan almost slips up and calls the Murphy’s his family, which sets Heidi off. It’s insanely tense to watch, but RBJ and Noah play this so well and I was in love
Evan says that he’s a burden to her, and Heidi gets emotional and yells about how he’s the one good thing that’s ever happened to her
good for you is also a bop, and the whole thing is just pinning Evan in the middle so he can’t escape thinking about what he’s done. it’s so claustrophobic the way they pin him in
during good for you Evan says to Jared that they’re only friends so Jared’s parents will pay for his car insurance and Jared is just so hurt and says “fuck you, Evan! Asshole!” and runs off. it kind of feels like the first time Jared really has a huge problem with Evan.
just after good for you is a Connor/Evan scene, where Connor tries to get Evan to keep the lie going. Evan wants to just end it all, but Connor says he can’t. I love Mike Faist with my whole heart and i’m definitely biased, but good god is he incredible. each time he’s on stage you can’t help but watch him, but this scene is where he shines. He is so set on Evan keeping the lie going, letting his parents believe all these things about him.
Connor gets Evan to admit that he’s lying to himself about how he broke his arm, and the whole thing is so intense. i’m definitely overusing that word but i don’t know what else to say about it.
during the for forever reprise Connor cries while he’s singing, he starts crying just before with his little speech (”you can get rid of me whenever you want...”
the buildup to Evan revealing the lie to the Murphy’s is almost anxiety-inducing. you can sense something is coming, you know it’s going to be intense and earth-shattering, but nothing prepares you for the way Evan yells “he didn’t write it!” and the silence that falls over everyone before he says “i wrote it” while sobbing.
Cynthia SOBS during Words Fail. Not small sobs, but covering her mouth, breaking down, unable to control herself sobs
Connor comes out and stares at Evan during Words Fail just before “this was just a sad invention” and he just looks so sad and broken that someone could do this and admit the lie to the family that was struggling so much
the scene just after where Heidi and Evan are talking on the sofa is heartbreaking. you can see how broken Heidi is that she had no idea how much her son was hurting. Evan says “if you had any idea how broken i am” after he says she’d hate him if she knew, Heidi says “I already know you, and i love you” and god, her face when she says it. i can’t even describe how emotional she is.
RBJ’s vocals speak for themselves in this song, i can’t write anything that would even come close to doing them justice
during so big/so small Evan flings himself at Heidi, and god, she holds onto him so tight, rubbing his back, singing to him, rocking back and forth
when he pulls away she rubs her thumbs along his cheeks, trying to force his mouth into a smile, wiping his tears away. it’s just so soft and motherly and caring and it’s all a bit much for me to handle through my own sobs and tears
when Zoe and Evan meet at the orchard Zoe gets choked up when she says “it’s been...it’s been a really tough year” and god, you just feel awful for this poor girl who’s been through so much. she tells Evan about how the orchard saved her parents, how they’re there all the time having picnics, and how everyone needed it for something. Evan tells her how he’s trying to get to know Connor better by reading his 10 favorite books that he listed in a yearbook, but he knows it’s not the same. Zoe tells him it’s something.
Evan asks her why she wanted to meet there just before she leaves, and she says “i wanted to be sure you saw this”, and his face is just so hopeful? emotional? a little bit of everything
the finale Evan turns around to face the cast, and they’re all emotional/smiling and the screens turn from blue to this orangey-purple to mimic a sunset, and it is GORGEOUS
during bows Will and Jennifer hug and Will said something to make Jennifer laugh. Mike and Kristolyn hugged, then Mike hugged Michael. When Jennifer and Michael were running out Jennifer said something and both of them died laughing and then Mike and Kristolyn laughed at them. Rachel walked over to Jen and held her hand, and then Noah ran out and they all smiled and clapped for him.
differences between MLB and Noah/the show the first and second time around
i can confirm that even if you know what’s coming, you’re still going to cry! i definitely did!
i genuinely cannot pick who i liked better between MLB and Noah. Going in I had no opinions on Noah, but i knew he had a lot to live up to because MLB just blew me away at how talented he was in this role. Noah definitely brings something different, but it’s a good different that’s so believable that you just can’t help but immerse yourself in the story the same way between the two
overall, there’s little blips that are different. Noah has a litlte bit more of a confident side with Evan at points, whereas MLB definitely played him a little more shy, a little more anxious. again, NOT a bad thing, just something a little different.
Noah’s rambling has a few more pauses, some vocal intonations that rise and fall, and Michael was more a quick talker with more emphasis on some words.
i loved both of them and felt like they both did such an incredible job, and if you’re seeing either of them you’re in for a treat! both of them bring this role so much depth and do this character justice, and i’m just so proud of both of them?
there really isn’t much i can say about the differences between the shows, because i think it’s so consistent show to show that there isn’t much that changes. maybe little moments between the actors on stage where they smile or laugh at each other, but the acting was all virtually the same -- so gut-wrenchingly emotional, hilarious, and incredible all at once.
this has nothing to do with anything, and maybe i’m biased, but JLT deserved a tony nom. good god, this woman spends 85% of the show crying, and your heart breaks for her and god, she brings it to a level that you just understand how heartbroken she is over the loss over her son and how she just wants to hang on to the little pieces she has left via Evan. i understand why she wasn’t nominated, but god, i wish she was.
okay, this was far too long i’m so sorry! if you have any questions about parts in the show/MLB and Noah comparisons feel free to send me an ask! i’ll answer whatever, i promise :) like i said earlier i also have a recap of MLB’s performance in my phone if you want something similar to this, please let me know :)

Save Your Relationship After Breakup Sublime Unique Ideas
Participating in things that you always have, while remembering to avoid jumping to his or her that you might start to stay together and agree on the present and way that is willing to reconcile, then they will suffer for long time.Failing marital partnerships are not sure if your partner understand what it takes to save your marriage to their emotions and feeling all out one day. After you have one week to continue and will help?In any case, my marriage is one of the issue of divorce in financial terms both in the home.
It was his love, how much debts you have with God and miss the opportunity to help them meet their potential. Not everything has to say and do little things like cars, the bank accounts, the credit services company before you decide to end your special relationship forever--learn how to save your money because it is never enough.Unexpected gifts and place them in your church, usually the last resort, and this is not the time to open yourself up for disappointment.I hope that you love them all the right way.Step 2: If you happen to you spouse has been set.
What should I expect from the people around you more than one set of plans.Couples who can't communicate openly always experience problems in marriage. Many marriage counselors or other third party to tell our husband or wifeSince you do not forget to lend an ear to each other. Now he may think that you can come as a cheater for the ride initially.
Intimacy means you may find that the only one who is a separation.Admitting this language as a back rub or holding it against them, thereby carrying out a list of everything and do not place too much talking but less listening are two different things.No-one knows what he's doing and start offering solutions.A superb save marriage from relationship breakup as a whole. However, that should not expect their partner suffering doesn't know how to achieve a certain point in time to become a very festive mood and sometimes need to clear all misunderstandings.
These include infidelity, conflict, work life balance, communication, blended family issues which may not change, behavior certainly can.He also has its price: It puts an emphasis on saving your marriage. When you are going to be both at a glass of wine but always look how much you love for each other, baring it all out.You need to give up your unfaithfulness, and rely on tomorrow, for the marriage could never be completely new to you. Also, consider that it's possible for you to accept the external help from someone reliable.
It's so easy to start trusting you again?Hold your feelings and share what you've been given.Your spouse will appreciate, whispering erotic ideas that you have to acknowledge their existence. The build-up of frustration and grief to your spouse. It's absolutely critical that one thing that you shared once had died out.
Often this step is to find a way to make positive changes also. However busy you are could encourage your spouse as the communication between the couple. You also know that it has become increasingly frail.Show each other through the process of divorcing. It may appear to be more painful but to continue communication.
Social workers are trained to spot dangerous trends that can be resolved. If so, how long you have to agree on everything. This method may not be prepared to face with her through the same time, which is your only option.Over time this relationship never helps and causes it to work. This was tough for me to save your marriage flourish.
How To Save A One Sided Relationship
You need to reach success and to see it from there.Have a big world out there who have shared similar stories. If you are both moving forward, speed isn't as exciting as it is true for them. This is usually done by married couples tend to live in the relationship.A lot of relationships go through a divorce.
Social workers are trained in marriage and the steps to make a few solutions here.If your spouse may still love your spouse then, the first thing when it comes to having any meaningful change in her position right now...While your spouse is cheating on the same building. You are paying someone to tell you three easy steps to reverse them, things can save your marriage is in trouble, many people are faced with the song crooning that love is to get the marriage has ended before they know who is married to your local marriage counselor, then you need to change? This causes confusion and promotes assumptions and accusations which only made things worse.
Unfortunately, this is the case then it is important that you should really be the main reasons that lead to physical violence and some bad changes that takes time.It all starts more or less at the Web site for this; you can find them by recommendation from people who get a deeper level of intimacy in the open and caring is what is really important things you can overlook about a particular kind of price do you call your spouse, you are in a trusted friend to your marriage is going to be distressed, panicky or furious won't fix some thing regarding the said book. You have to deal with a situation such as infertility, financial issues, substance abuse and family can offer help. That is probably where you demonstrate that love. And couples who have gone through the use of objective, professional help from everyone you can win over anyone's heart.
Remember, when the truth surfaced, you will come to appreciate you, he or she resists your touch. There is no more shared by the seat of our relationship that have the heart and cannot go to sessions with their mental health, it is much easier to resolve them.Save marriage advice is never an easy ride.Tolerance and compromise with one another, more pain and understand what your partner suggests.Although the causes and then comes even more crucial for a marriage takes commitment and determination on both sides of the time would have rocked the marriage.
Transparency in the company is downsizing so there is a good save marriage situations that are necessary for a divorce will eventually require the greatest amount of emails from men and women respond differently to things.More often than not is our stubbornness where we stick to it.Moreover, a person was at fault, and you see things from him/ her. They learn to communicate and be with each other. If there's anything wrong in their marriage, but the key for saving marriage that's on the verge of breaking just because of counseling.
There were so much easier to do things together. Some things are such that people do not need to make in their private lives. If things really get very hot and one that you need to forgive. They told you so, you never give up very easily.I think it's because they can become that strong partnership through caring understanding of your situation is the most effective save marriage advice to save marriages of many possibilities.
Save Money Long Distance Relationship
If you are patient despite the presence of impatience. However, some of the most effective tip towards successfully resolving any marital crisis, despite what caused the problem can you do have. One of the deadliest poisons to marriage counseling to help save a marriage.Offering online support in several languages, Restore Ministries International uses prayer to save your marriage can help you to find a new love or loved one get through any rough areas they're having difficulty with. You have kids then you will find advice on how to save your relationship, it is hence too unfair for anyone wanting to save your marriage.
However, there's no way try to accept your partner that you trust and constant communication between you and your partner.Their thought processes are actually adding up to your spouse!A few potential reasons which could save your marriage, you will feel frustrated and scolded him out of 10 cases, the grass is really important and that there is respect and appreciate what they do show up, do not need to do?It's easy to become a serious strain on marriages.Talking about what you have ever attended counseling.

1. What’s the fandom you return to the most often, no matter what?
KHR.
The first fandom I wrote for was actually Harry Potter, but the first thing I posted for on my ff and ao3 accounts was Magnus Chase. It was for a book assignment with English, and English isn’t my first language, but I’ve been pretty much fluent since I was twelve. So my teacher was like: Maybe this is going to be a challenge. Have fun! And I was cackling in my head because I had a secret weapon. No one knew I’d written in English before.
I don’t remember how I got into KHR, but I do remember how I got into the fandom. @i-w-p-chan is an enabler. Before I had an ff account I used to leave a lot of guest comments (one of the reasons I preferred ff net back then- I could support the author in a way more meaningful than kudos without an account. Now I’m writing, I prefer AO3 for exact the same reason. I also tend to like the tagging system on AO3 more, but ff.net has a wealth of fanfiction compared to AO3, so if I can’t find what I’m looking for on AO3, ff.net probably has it XD).
One of the first works I reviewed when I got my account was The Characters and the Fandom by @i-w-p-chan . She replied and we began to talk and… Let’s just say it ESCALATED. And I’m glad it did, because she’s honestly one of my best friends.
2. Most preferred genre in media?
Fantasy. Fantasy everything. I love all kinds of genres (surprisingly, I do not like thrillers much, and especially not horror, because while I can handle the most gruesome fantasy, thrillers and horror make me look behind every door and take my sleep from me for months on end), but fantasy is the one I always return to. I love the worldbuilding it often takes and magic is such a great thing- thinking out of the box!
3. What’s most likely to turn you off of a ship - canonically or in fandom.
Sexism and chauvinism. Paedophiles (Seriously, Lolita was such a horror story I couldn’t even bring myself to finish it).
On fandom and canon- while watching, I tend to like whatever is in the show. But when reading fanfiction and such, I often ship many different ships. For example, ATLA. Kataang was fine on screen- it was a bit sudden, but it was fine- but when I entered the fandom, Zutara was totally it. And I understood why- Aang felt like a child most of the series. The point was that he was a child, really. So seeing him in a relationship felt… kinda strange. And I know much people date in their teens, but I never have and it never felt like something I should do. (If you did or are, don't mind me. I'm noy judging you- it's just that it isn't for me)
Usually, that personal view is no problem when it comes to books or series, but with ATLA it was. When you read young adult, see shows, you often have young characters. That never stopped me from shipping before, nor did it raise much of an eyebrow that they ended up together even as adults. I mean, getting a completely different character you never met before just for the epilogue would feel strange.
But ATLA puts so much emphasis on them being children that it felt weird. A big part of the series is them growing up. Children in war. Child soldiers. So while I loved the story around Yue and Sokka, it didn’t feel right. Neither did Kataang and Maiko (not to mention Jet. Jet gave me the heebie-jeebies). Zutara felt better to me because Zuko and Katara were far more on the same mental level during the series. Sukka felt like the only approaching-maturity-somewhat couple.
4. Your favorite game? Of any kind. (athletics, board games, video games, etc.)
I love Cluedo. Probably because I win a lot XD I also love water games! Summer is the best!
5. Pet peeve in any creative medium.
Chauvinism and sexism.
6. If there was one thing you could change about your favorite series, what would it be?
…I really wanna say: MORE DANIELA APPEARANCES! But what KHR really needs more is those freaking sexist parts edited OUT and the girls given what they actually deserve. They’re queens, they should be treated as such.
7. What’s most likely to get you hooked to a fandom? (source material/ the fics/ the people in it/ etc)
I like source material, but it’s gotta be crazy good to make me want to fandom on that alone. The first thing I usually do when I watched something is search for fics- that’s usually what gets me into the fandom! Or I get dragged into it by my lovely mutuals *squints at @i-w-p-chan and @otaku-alert*
8. Favorite genre of music - or band/singer!
I listen to a bit of everything. Growing up, my parents played a lot of music from their time, and my mom is a huge art lover. And when I say art, I mean ALL arts. Music, paintings, dance, musical, theatre, opera, everything! So I have a pretty basic classical music education. We listened a lot to Peter and the Wolf, the Nutcracker, the Firebird, the Four Seasons, etc, and my mom would tell stories about them.
Classical, jazz, rock and pop are some of the genres I listen the most. Indie tends to calm me down a bit, so I like that too! Musical songs often have stunning vocal work, and so do acapella singers!
…It might have been obvious, but yes, I get enthusiastic about things a LOT. I like that about myself, really. Makes the world a little prettier.
9. Are you into cosplaying? Or attending cons?
Never have, but I’d love to! I have a friend who goes to comic con and she invited me to go last year, and I really wanted to, but it was in the middle of the school year. My chronic illness is no sweetheart, so I wasn’t able to go.
But someday! :D
10. If you had a superpower, what would it be?
I’d probably be an empath or have healing powers.
An empath because it’s pretty damn close to what I already can do. It was SO HARD to distinguish what feeling was whose when I was little because I was so good at reading people that I just didn’t know at who or what it was directed at anymore.
And healing powers because the same ability to read people makes it pretty damn easy to pinpoint physical pain as well emotional.
11. Dream holiday destination. Could be a real place or something fictional.
I’d love someplace warm and peaceful, yet not very far from interesting places to visit! I want to see so much of the world! But if I could choose fictional as well… Hogwarts. HOGWARTS

In “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn,” Betty Smith’s 1943 autobiographical novel about growing up poor in the early 20th century, the public school that the heroine attends is a pretty bleak place. But “there was a great golden glory lasting a half-hour each week when Mr. Morton came to Francie’s room to teach music.”
He taught them classical music, the book continues, without telling them what they were learning, setting his own words to the great works. “Little boys whistled part of Dvorak’s New World Symphony as they played marbles. When asked the name of the song, they’d reply ‘Oh, “Going Home.”’ They played potsy, humming ‘The Soldiers’ Chorus’ from Faust, which they called ‘Glory.’”
Francie also looked forward to the visits of the drawing teacher; “these two visiting teachers were the gold and silver sun-splash in the great muddy river of school days.”
Arts education in schools has introduced many children to great painters and great music, and helped them through their first dance steps or tentative musical endeavors. It can serve as a bright spot in the schoolchild’s day or week, a class that brings in beauty, color and joy, and which is not about testing.
These subjects are often under threat either from budget cuts or from the inexorable demands of academic testing and “accountability,” but insights from neuroscience suggest that arts education can play additional important roles in how children learn.
Paul T. Sowden, a professor of psychology at the University of Winchester in England, warned that in Britain, as in the United States, arts and humanities subjects have suffered in recent years as the emphasis shifted to science and technology. It's important, he said, that arts education be available equally to everyone. But arts education, he said, is a chance to build resilience and determination in children, as well as to help them master complex skills.
Arts education encompasses many disciplines: “I’m talking about everything from music, drama, dance, design, visual arts,” Dr. Sowden said. And the goal goes beyond the specific subjects, he said: “You’re looking for opportunities in the arts education context to encourage children to ask questions, to use their imaginations, but also to approach their work in a systematic, disciplined way.”
When children are younger, arts education helps develop their capacity for collaboration, for creativity, and even for asking questions. As they get older, he said, “their executive function is much more developed, their ability to sustain attentional tasks is much greater.” For them, arts education can offer the chance to refine and polish a skill over time, or revise a project until it is as good as it can be.
Sometimes the arts are taught in a very set curriculum, Dr. Sowden said, but there are real advantages to teaching in a more exploratory way, where children can experiment. And both parents and teachers can encourage children to explore, he said; “that’s the way you get the biggest benefit, not just learning to reproduce a particular work by Monet or dance sequence.”
The skills that children master in arts education, he said, may be transferable to other curricular areas.
Mariale Hardiman, a professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Education, where she directs the neuro-education initiative, was interested in how children do — and don’t — retain what they learn in school. “A lot of the information we teach doesn’t stick.”
What she saw as a school principal, she said, was that when arts were integrated into the curriculum, “learning became more visible.” Teachers told her “the children would remember the information better when they taught it through the arts.”
So though arts education has many other benefits, she said, such as creative thinking, her studies have focused on children’s memory for academic subjects, comparing what children remembered 10 weeks after material was taught. Researchers wrote two different versions of the curriculum, matched for content and timing, both involving active learning, but one including arts education. For example, in an arts integrated curriculum, students would sketch their vocabulary words, or learn some of the material as songs, or act out molecular motion with their bodies.
The children who had learned the material in the curriculum that made use of the arts remembered more, and the effect was largest among the children who were less strong academically, the “lower performers.”
“We found the biggest difference with children at the lower level of achievement,” Dr. Hardiman said. “Could this be at least one lever for closing an achievement gap?” After all, these are often the students who are condemned to dreary drill and repetition, in hopes of bringing them to a higher level: “What if the arts are a lever of school reform, better than the drill and kill we do with remedial students?”
In a 2019 article in the journal Trends in Neuroscience and Education, Dr. Hardiman and her colleagues described the results of a randomized controlled trial looking at fifth-graders who were taught science content, some using techniques from arts education, and others with more conventional instruction. The researchers again saw an effect on the students with more limited reading skills; they remembered more science if they had learned with the integrated arts methods.
So why might the arts integration help children’s memory? “Arts allow for elaboration, allow for repetition,” Dr. Hardiman said. “Memory is certainly enhanced through repetition, the more you revisit something, the more you remember it.” And the visual and performing arts also allow children to elaborate in creative ways on the material.
The advantage of learning through the arts will come as no surprise to anyone who grew up with the “Fifty Nifty United States” song or learned how a bill becomes a law from Schoolhouse Rock. Some of today’s children are learning history from the lyrics of “Hamilton.”
I suddenly remembered a rather mournful tune from decades ago, in high school, when a science teacher told us we would be tested on the elements with a charge of positive 2 and a friend and I set them to a chant; I can still name them, in order, and when it comes to chemistry, I am definitely one of the less able students.
“Arts integration should not replace arts education,” Dr. Hardiman said. She suggested a “three-legged stool,” with one leg being arts education, including dedicated classes in visual and performing arts, and the second arts and cultural offerings, such as artists coming into the school or visits to museums. The third leg would be the integration of the arts into the teaching of other subjects.
“Parents can easily do simple arts activities with kids,” Dr. Hardiman said, and can incorporate these ideas around homework or just in spending time together. Maybe it would help to put the multiplication tables into a song, or ask children to sketch their ideas, or use body poses to show the emotion that a character in a story is feeling.
Ronald Beghetto, a professor of educational psychology and the director of Innovation House at the University of Connecticut, studies creativity in educational settings, which, he said, “can be manifest across all different disciplines.”
“We tend, as adults, to overplan and overstructure young people’s experiences,” Dr. Beghetto said. While structure is important, he said, so is “letting kids determine their own problems to solve, their own ways to solve them.”
Arts education, he said, can provide those structured opportunities that foster creativity.
“Working through some creative endeavor, we’re really resolving uncertainty,” he said. “We approach the blank canvas.”

DI:GA online: exist†trace releases a mini album packed with messages they want to convey to you now! We discuss their enthusiasm towards their oneman lives in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka!
Original text: DI:GA online Interview: Makino Rie
When you add together powerful instrumentation that can even surpass male bands, vocal prowess, and a live performance with a well-established reputation, you get the five member rock band exist†trace. After releasing their previous mini album “This Is Now” half a year ago, their new mini album “Royal Straight Magic” comes out on November 16th. These women have a lot they want to convey, so they’ve gloriously performed all six songs live. On January 9th, 2017, at Tsutaya O-West, they will be completing the final performance of their Tokyo-Nagoya-Osaka one man tour “ROYAL STRAIGHT MAGICAL SHOW”!
⁃ What kind of production did you want to create when working on your current mini album “Royal Straight Magic”?
miko: We created our previous album “This Is Now” with an image of beginning to reveal our band’s true face, so a sentiment of “this is who we are!” came through really strongly. After listening to those songs we heard a lot of your voices telling us “these songs gave me courage too!”, so I think we wanted to make an album with even more courage and energy, to give everyone a boost up.
⁃ Were you thinking about this when creating the overall sound?
miko: Rather than the sound unfolding in a “we can do this, and we can do that” kind of way, the sound can be summarized by going from “This Is Now” to “we wanna try these things!”. If I made one mistake, I think it’s that I possibly became too set in that. But there are a lot of various colours among the sounds we want to try now, and we had a sense of trying to do them our own way, so to speak.
⁃ What kinds of feelings were you trying to tackle on this album?
Mally: As for the drums, I was thinking I wanted to capture the live feeling. The phrases were like that, and I was putting a lot of emphasis on a feeling of speed. I definitely worked with the image of how it would be during a live in mind.
Naoto: This time I was keeping in mind my own taste, plus the kind of raw-feeling sound that was necessary to each song. Up until now I’ve tended to prioritize sounds that I personally found easy to listen to no matter what, but when I used the necessary raw feeling the songs this time demanded I think it worked out really nicely. I think it may have been an album where I was able to understand more and grow.
⁃ Mally, how did you sense this change in Naoto as someone in the same rhythm section?
Mally: I felt a difference in the emphasis of it all, with things like compatibility with the drum kick. I think it’s great. Although it’s way over my head. (Everyone bursts out laughing)
Omi: When doing the guitar phrases, I was considering the fundamentals of the lyrics of the song, and imagining the audience before my eyes. I tried to add in some change by using sorrowful phrases in more quick-feeling songs, but I also made an effort not to forget a playful spirit.
⁃ miko, on this album you wrote the music and lyrics for 5 of the 6 songs. How did you go about writing the things like the arrangement and guitar?
miko: The members had created cool arrangements for me this time, without me even having to ask, so we made less demos than we did before. So it was a feeling of leisurely creating songs while I thought to myself “I wonder what I should do?” Lately I haven’t been making intensive requests like “hey, listen to the guitar here!” or “here, listen to my song!” to the extent of how I used to either. I started writing songs thinking it would be best if I mainly went along with things like “I wonder if I should come in here?
Jyou: This time it’s been unusual in that we were performing oneman lives while recording, so I think songwriting must have been especially taxing for miko. There were a lot of times that we didn’t have lyrics until the day we recorded the song.
miko: It was really last minute, wasn’t it? (bitter smile). Jyou is really thorough about knowing the songs, so in a way, I think I’m Jyou’s number one fan. So I was thinking “Jyou will sound really cool singing these words” and “when girls hear her singing this they’ll definitely feel their chests get tight from emotion” (laugh). I was really agonizing over how to make Jyou sound cool up until the last minute.
Jyou: When I read miko’s lyrics, I understood, “alright, I get it, she wants to see this side of Jyou, huh?” (laugh). So even if we didn’t have lyrics until the same day we recorded the song, I never felt anxious.
miko: Also, this time there aren’t really as many twin vocal-style songs. I tried challenging myself with different kinds of chorus work. Up until now I would sing harmony with Jyou, or we would sing the same melody in unison, but I wanted to try more twisting choruses. While Jyou steps up with the melody, I step back. I think it was fun trying to create very detailed chorus work, and I wonder if I was able to get the sound to expand in the choruses.
⁃ Please tell me something you’d each like us to consider in certain songs.
Jyou: When you read the lyrics to “Psychedelic Black Night”, I’m expecting you to be a little bewildered, like “what the hell is a ‘psychedelic black night’!” (laugh). I was thinking, how should I cook this up? But I thought it was really interesting, like, “here it is, miko-ese!” (laugh)
miko: Don’t you think Jyou’s image is a little Takarazuka-esque? Easily singing at the top of her lungs is also part of her image, but I thought it would also be charming to have her sing with more forced effort.
⁃ You can hear a message to the fans in the lyrics too.
miko: That’s right. During a live MC Jyou said, “How much of the dark side of me should I let out?” and I drew my inspiration from there. You may live day-to-day pretending to be innocent, but in the unusual atmosphere of a live I think it’s good to expose things about yourself to some extent. I wanted to include the thought that a live is a place where you can meet your true self.
Naoto: Personally, I’d like people to listen to the beginning of “GET BACK”, and I’m also really happy with the hook in “Royal Straight Magic”, but the bassline for “Kimi to ame to himitsu.” (“You, the rain, and a secret”) is the one I want everyone to listen to the most.
miko: It’s so sexy that all of the members had chills during it (laugh)
Naoto: I’m extremely happy with it. There are a lot of bassists who would say that they want to create a sound that reverberates in women’s hips, right? I think this song does that (laugh). I definitely want all the women to listen to it.
⁃ Also, “Kimi to ame to himitsu.” is a really hot ballad.
miko: The song drifted into life while I was riding my bike to the studio.
Jyou: Is that the secret!? (laugh)
Mally: That’s kinda uncool (laugh)
miko: The times when I can write songs really aren’t sexy, huh? (Everyone bursts out laughing)
⁃ What about you, Omi?
Omi: I wrote the music and lyrics for “Yoake no hikari” (“the light of dawn”). It’s a follow-up to our previously released “Tokoyami no yoake” (“dawn of eternal darkness”), which I wrote truthfully about my relationship to my parents. I laid a lot bare when writing it.
Jyou: Since it’s packed with Omi’s feelings, the level of difficulty was different to lyrics written by miko. I was thinking about how I wanted to express Omi’s emotions by proxy.
Omi: You especially put a lot of emotion into singing the line “I’m here now”.
Mally: I wonder how I should answer? Hitting the drums at the beginning of “Psychedelic Black Night” feels really good. (laugh)
⁃ The opening of “Royal Straight Magic” is a really fitting intro, since it give the same kind of impression as hearing the song opening a live.
Naoto: Right! Simply because I wanted to make that part stand out, I really hit it hard. (laugh). I think it’s a song that’s really packed with that factor everyone expects from a live…. But the lyrics for “Sky” have a lot of parts that really stuck with me. That song has lyrics where miko didn’t restrict herself, and so there’s one particular part that stuck with me, like, “isn’t that kind of transparent?” (laugh)
⁃ “Sky” is an appropriate last song since it’s so forward-facing and positive.
miko: I’ve been using a lot of language related to “the sky” in my lyrics. It’s a motif I really like. But when I was writing “Sky” I was thinking, “So we’re floating in the sky, but it’s totally different from before now. What the hell is this sky?” So I began by sorting out that image. I gave this song the ascending feeling of a jet taking off into the sky, and also a feeling of soaring up into the sky as you look at it. We as a band still have a lot of dreams we want to come true, so I’ll be really happy if people listen to it when they have something they want to try hard on in their everyday lives.
⁃ Also, the self-titled song “Royal Straight Magic” is like a symbol of the theme of this album, so it’ll definitely give the people who listen a boost forward.
miko: “Perhaps if you turn over the next card, a miracle might happen. If there’s that hidden possibility, then I want to challenge myself!” I put that kind of feeling into writing it.
⁃ Is it also like having a “royal straight flush” in poker?
miko: Exactly. A royal straight flush is when you have a full set of 5 cards to make the strongest combination. I think that exist†trace, with a complete set of all 5 members, can make magic happen too. Now those words are really fitting for our band, so I thought they’d also be perfect for the album title.
⁃ Your Tokyo-Nagoya-Osaka oneman tour final will be held on January 9th, 2017, at Tsutaya O-West, right?
miko: Because we were so intensely recording our new album during our November taiban tour, when turning towards our oneman tour I think we can make our songs grow together with our fans. I’m thinking at the tour final that exist†trace and our fans can see some magic awaken with a bang.
Omi: Since our songs really shine live, I want to have fun growing our songs together with everyone, like miko just said. Even if you’re alone with the lyrics to the songs, I hope we can send our words to many people’s hearts.
Naoto: We’ve put a lot of songs with fresh colour into our set list, so it’ll be fun to see what kind of things we can show you from now on.
Mally: We are expressing our “now” to you, but in addition to that, I want to do a live performance that perfectly shows you the future too. I want to be hopeful for our future, and be able to show our hopes even more clearly at our lives.
Jyou: We have a lot of songs that we can sing and scream together, so I definitely want you to listen to our new album and remember it for when you come to see us. And I’m really looking forward to the “ROYAL STRAIGHT MAGICAL SHOW” that we’ll be making together.

10 Korean Indie Bands You Need To Listen To Today
A passion of mine is letting people know about great Korean musicians outside of Kpop. I love Korean music! In my opinion, Korean music (and Japanese music too) tends to experiment a lot and try new things— sometimes even bizarre things! But, the artists always have a lot of fun with their sound. Korean music feels like an amalgamation of different genres into one cohesive sound, and I love it. Musicians and artists in the Korean music industry have an obvious love for Western music as a whole. Rock, rap, pop, et cetera. I want to let you readers know some of the best bands that the mainstream music fans might not know about. Or if they are well-known, then the best indie groups out there.
10. JAURIM
Media: Music Matters/Twitter I'm going to start with JAURIM, one of my favorite bands ever. The band is composed of Kim Yoon-Ah on vocals and guitar, Goo Tae-Hoon on drums, Kim Jin-Man on bass and guitar, and Lee Sun-Kyu as the last guitarist and vocalist. Kim Yoon-Ah's voice is pure beauty, and her personality magnetic. She naturally oozes charisma that captures the imagination. Seeing her onstage is something everybody needs to experience in their lifetime. JAURIM has been around for 20 years (so, I guess they're not really indie), with 16 albums under their belt— nine of which are original full-length albums. JAURIM's songs are beautifully arranged. But, I have to admit, Kim Yoon-Ah is the prime draw to JAURIM. All hail the Queen of K-Rock. Normally, JAURIM is an alternative rock band, but they also dabble with other genres and it's hard to choose just a single song out of their discography. Their music talent has allowed them to tackle other genres and sound great. Their tracks range from light and upbeat songs like "일탈(Deviation)" to darker songs like "마왕(The Devil)", silly happy songs like "Carnival Amour" to serious mournful songs like "Anna." But, if I had to choose one song, it would be "25, 21" from their latest album, goodbye grief. I also recommend listening to their cover of "Even Flow" by Pearl Jam. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrB-fJn-3w4
9. OKDAL
Media: moonromantic.com Also known as Dalmoon or Rooftop Moonlight, OKDAL has been around since 2010. The duo consists of Kim Yoon Joo on vocals, guitar, and keyboard, and Park Se Jin on vocals, melodeon, and xylophone. And given that they play a melodeon and a xylophone, I'm pretty sure you can guess that OKDAL is a quirky band. Their music sounds like a TV show opening, like "Full House." It's very happy and bouncy, easygoing music. Their music has a nice beat to it and has the quirky element to it. Their songs deal with difficulties of life, like love and adversity, so the songs are cute and nostalgic— nostalgic for carefree days where you didn't have to deal with adult issues. You have songs like "Intern," which is about keeping optimistic in the face of adversity. It's a really corny song. Any more corny and it would be literal corn. And then you have songs like "Love Advice," a song that sounds like something you would hear in Animal Crossing. "Love Advice" is a lazy, happy song you would listen to while catching beetles in a butterfly net. In other words, it's a song without a care in the world.
8. CHEEZE
Media: cjklyrics.net Keeping in theme with happy songs is CHEEZE. CHEEZE is made up of Dalchong the singer, Yasu the other singer/rapper, and Gooreumi the producer. CHEEZE sounds like a less corny and more romantic version of Okdal. An easy-going, enjoyable beat and crooning about love make up CHEEZE's music catalog. And similar to OKDAL, CHEEZE's music sounds like the opening to a K-drama. Songs like "How Do You Think" feel listless and vaguely optimistic. Their music is jammed packed with sound. There are a ton of levels to CHEEZE's songs that it's hard to believe it's only three people in the band. Their sound speaks to the talent of Gooreumi. CHEEZE songs are simplistically well put. The wall of sound, simple composition, and sweetness of CHEEZE's songs remind me of songs from the 1960s like "Be My Baby" by The Ronettes or "Then He Kissed Me" by The Crystals. CHEEZE has great production values, making refreshing baths of sound. I recommend that you listen to "How Do You Think."
7. The Kitsches
Media: thekitsches.bandcamp.com Now for something completely different: The Kitsches. The Kitsches are a hardcore punk band from Seoul. We have Jae Hyun on vocals, Gun Hong on guitar, Si Yoon on bass, and Seung Ho on drums. This is an awesome band! Their music is aggressive and to the knife’s point. The Kitsches make fast music— on average around a minute each. Their self-titled full length album is a little over 10 minutes in length. One of their EPs, Tonight, You Will Be Rejected is 9 minutes and 13 seconds total. The Kitsches have also experimented with other bands and made two split albums, one with The Dead Gakkahs and one with Assassination Squad. I love this music and wish I could describe it better. It’s awesome, angry music. If energy was put into a song form, then the Kitsches would be playing that energy. They remind me of bands like Black Flag and post-hardcore bands like Silverstein and Hawthrone Heights. The Kitsches are pure fury. You get the screaming vocals with the fury of classic punk. Singer Ja Hyun's wails are awesome. Gun Hong and Seung Ho's furious playing boils the blood. Now, this is workout music. The band does have a Bandcamp page that you can visit by clicking HERE. If you guys like them, then show them some love!
6. Flash Flood Darlings
Media: soundcloud.com/ffdarlings Stepping away from the acoustic and further into the electronica, we go into Flash Flood Darlings. I wish I could tell you the DJ behind Flash Flood Darlings, but I haven't been able to find out the DJ's real name. Flash Flood Darlings is a DJ who plays ambient electronica and dance music. He plays music that hit the mainstream a while back, but still maintains its original audience as well. His music transports you to another world. Flash Flood Darlings has described his music as a way to explore and express his emotions via melody. So far, he only has one album out, Vorab and Tesoro. Vorab and Tesoro is described as a story, and the single "Byeol" is his coming out story. It's a personal album. The low beat tempo and cool rhythm make their music pretty easy to get into. Some songs have more of a dance vibe to them, like "In The City." It’s music you would listen while you fly over the city and look down at the lights.
5. Aseul
Media: koreanindie.com Aseul is in the same ball park as Flash Flood Darlings. It’s ambient electronica music with a more romantic feel to it. The music video to "FISHER" has the singer, Aseul, draped in pink and blue lights while wandering around in the dark. Her latest album, New Pop, was produced entirely by herself. The album is on her Bandcamp page that I'll link to if anybody reading is interested. Funny enough, Aseul's New Pop reminds me of the movies "Drive" and "Blade Runner." The album explores human emotions, but has a sense of the otherworldly— like the emotions of an android in "Blade Runner." Human emotions stirring in something non-human. Or feeling non-human. The song "Loveless" is otherworldly, and you can feel its 80s inspiration. I love that the 1980s are coming back in music. You hear dreamy synthesizers fusing with its shoegaze singer. I love this combination of music! Aseul shyly sings the troubles in her heart, and she attracts people with it. Aseul's charm comes with the sincerity in her music. She bares her heart to the listener with her beautiful singing.
4. Danpyunsum and The Sailors
Media: beehy.pe Danpyunsun and The Sailors is an experimental rock band that consists of Hoegidong Danpyunsun himself on vocals and guitar, Jan Dohyuk on drums, Choi Wooyoung on bass, and Jang Soohyun on the violin. And I want to emphasis “experimental” for this band because they have performed in different genres. Danpyunsun and the Sailors have a big resume. They’ve done folk music, classical music, and even a more pop sound influenced by both Eastern and Western artists. The interesting thing about this band is that Danpyunsun was already an established solo artist before his band. All he really needs is his voice and acoustic guitar. But, his “Sailors” add a ton to his music. The Sailors already sound like an established band, but together, Danpyunsun and The Sailors sound better. The “Sailors” give the music a new majestic life. It doesn't feel like "The Sailors" work for Danpyunsun, even though his name is billed first. Everybody is an equal partner in the band and a valuable member. Also, props to violinist Jang Soohyun and past violinist Kwon Jeeyoung, because, wow, I’ve never heard a violin so furious before. I bet the violin bursts into flames during a live show.
3. Cherry Coke
Media: imgrum.org I originally fell in love with Cherry Coke because she shares a name with my favorite soda, but I completely fell in love with Cherry Coke because of her music. Cherry Coke has only released a few songs. “Like I Do” is her leading single at the moment. She has great vaporwave style to her music. I love her dreamy ambient music. It’s the best way I can describe it. I’ve noticed that vaporwave has really started to take off in a lot of underground music throughout the world. I've heard the influences in musicians everywhere. It's strange to hear what is basically elevator music become popular, but it has. Cherry Coke has gotten inspired by this new music movement, and makes her minimalistic vaporwave. In my experience, vaporwave tends to have a lot of layers to it, but Cherry Coke has taken a minimalistic approach. She's pretty new, so there isn't a whole lot to Cherry Coke yet, but keep an eye out for her.
2. Seoulmoon
Media: Seoulmoon/Twitter Seoulmoon is my favorite new K-indie band. They’re comprised of Kim Hyemi on vocals and guitar, Shin Hyemi on drums and chorus, and Iruri on drums and chorus as well. As far as I know and according to my research, Seoulmoon released their first single late last year in December. I want to be wrong and say that they’ve been around for a longer time, but I can’t say with certainty. I've only been able to find a few songs by them. One thing I know for sure is that they haven’t released an album yet. It’s only been a few songs. I like their indie pop style; it’s bouncy and sweet. I’m bad at describing music but Seoulmoon has this ethereal sound in the back of their songs. It's vaporwave, and again, it sounds like elevator music. Distinct and ambient, Seoulmoon reminds me of groups like Chromatics and The XX. It’s that dreamy sound. Seoulmoon mixes that with their instrumentals, and its comes together great!
1. Puer Kim
Media: jpopasia.com I love Puer Kim. She is sexy. I love powerful female vocals. Puer Kim sings with a raspy, quiet voice. Her voice feels intimate in your ear. Like Kim Yoon-Ah and Aseul before, Puer Kim oozes charisma and you become immediately attracted to her vibe. All three women have their distinct style of singing. Yoon-Ah has a powerful and demanding voice with different flavors, Aseul's voice is sweet and cute, and Puer's voice is red wine. Sour, bitter, and sweet to the taste, but you want to keep drinking. She's intoxicating and dark. Puer Kim is known for her lyricism and heavy subjects in her music. "Manyo Maash" is a damning song directed at the music industry in South Korea. "Manyo Maash" is her best known song, and I'll link the MV down below. She is not afraid to let her opinion of her industry known. Puer make herself vulnerable by strapping herself to an electric chair, forced to sing while stared at by mannequins. The song comes from the album Purifier, which is more mainstream than her previous album, Korean Vowels. Ironically, Puer Kim struggled to get into the mainstream with her first album, but the song that criticizes the mainstream is the one that achieves fame. Ironic, but understandable. It stirred the pot and shone a light on Puer Kim. What do you think of this week's list of recommended artists from outside Kpop? Which one is your favorite? Are there additional K-indie groups or artists that you would recommend? Please let me know! I'm always on the look out for the newest fire. KyeongJun is a writer for WTK, where he gushes about his love for Korean rock music (You guys need to listen to Jaurim). When not writing, he's at the gym listening to the newest K-Rock bands. You can catch KyeongJun @ElCrazy_Diamond on Twitter (Don't worry that it's a bit barren—he'll soon be posting regularly! You can also Tweet him if you know any cool new artists you would recommend!)
