The boring answer is that I've been drawing cats for a VERY long time. I think since I was 8 they have been the majority of what I drew. The less boring answer is you know the movie Spirit? It changed my life. It had a bonus video where one of the artists taught you how to draw Spirit himself and it was the singular thing that inspired me to start drawing (more likely possessed me). I think I must have been about two the first time I saw it because I cannot remember a time before I had that video memorized. I would spend hours sitting in front of that video (which was only like 10-15 minutes long) with a stack of papers just fully focused on perfectly following his instructions. I still think about that video to this day. Every time I draw legs the voice of James Baxter echoes through my mind. I don't know if that translates to why my cats are so beefy, I own a cat who is quite chonky, so that might contruibute to it, but now you have a fun fact about me regardless!

All of the heirs are chosen based on birth order! Whoever is born first gets to be heir. I personally find that making strict rules about stuff makes playing the game a lot easier for me, I find it stressful to try to pick a "good heir" when I don't know what's going to happen later in the game so to limit that I just let it be completely out of my hands. 2. The game rolled for Songpaw to become a medicine cat! I would have changed it if he was an only kit or probably if I had known that Dashpaw was gonna die, cause I was really stressed about losing my run at that point, but I do my best to write a story that makes the game make sense rather than change what the game gives me when possible. I think it helps me to not have much of a story in mind while I play, just noting down events and thoughts and then going back and piecing it all together afterwards. That way nothing can "go wrong". 3. "Heir-hood" only applies to the leaders. There is no expectation that Cavepaw will become a healer. When Weed dies that position will be open until someone wishes to volunteer for it. 4. Honestly I don't really know. This might spoil a little bit, of tension, but I truly never had that happen. I was SUPER worried about it and did a lot to make sure it wouldn't, but after a couple of generations you get to a point where almost everyone is descended from a leader at somepoint. (And also everyone is second cousins with each other but you know what there are some problems that you just have to live with.) I image the clan would look for an omen and just pick a new leader based off of that and start the process all over again. In my experience worst comes to worst just make sure you have a very accurate family tree and trace it back a couple of generations.

Thank you so much! I don't play with any mods for Loudclan, I'm too scared to lose saves to less than stable code. My favorite mod currently is Kori's Awoogen though! I just like to look at the beautiful art mostly. I use mass extinction as population control, so I turn it on and off based on how many cats I have. Two full pages is the upper limit of what I'm willing to deal with, so once a third page opens I turn mass extinction on and after an extinction happens I turn it back off. (also if I dip below 1 full page I turn unknown parents on until I'm back to two pages again). I've found after a couple of generations you can mostly stop worrying about it because the bloodlines have spread so far there's always someone who's a 6th great great cousin or something.

The game generated him Dashpelt! I probably would have picked Dashfoot to stick with the generated them of a boring suffix but to make more sense overall.

On God I was working on the AEIWAM Outline today but I also got "The AEIWAM cast, post-fic, go to the Aquarium" brainrot so have this:

It kicks off with Retsu seeing Kenpachi deep in thought for once and asking him what he's mulling over and after a moment he asks: "Are there zoos for fish?" "...Pardon?" "There are lotsa fish," he reasons, "-at least as many as there are land animals, but they're all really hard to see, because they're in the water." Retsu considers him for a moment before gently asking "Do you mean The Aquarium?" "The what?"

Retsu, texting Ichigo in the Gotei-13 Groupchat at 2AM: I need you to acquire tickets and human chaperones for a group field trip to The Aquarium Ichigo, who fears her above everyone else in soul society: Yes, Captain. Retsu: If it was just the SWA I'd only ask for tickets but you know what The Lads are like. Ichigo: Unfortunately, Yes. Ichigo: I'll bring the first aid kit, zip ties, duct tape and candy. Retsu: Good man.

Upon Arrival, Kenpachi has already been lectured about "You ARE NOT ALLOWED to fight and/or eat the fish, no matter how annoying and/or delicious they look

Turns out they were lecturing the wrong guy because it's Byakuya that develops a personal rivalry with a grouper ("It's smug expression disgusts me." "Captain that is a FISH.") and has to be talked out of climbing into the tank to fight it

after that he has to hold hands with Rukia or Renji.

Rukia discovers Sea Bunnies and ends up crying about them.

Yachiru gets to see them feeding the Piranha and it's a Spiritual Experience for her.

Later, she gets to see them feed the sharks and it's an EVEN BETTER spiritual Experience.

Hitsugaya learns Penguins are real and not just 'made up for christmas, like the flying reindeer and the guy with the suspect toy charity'.

Momo lights into him about "Penguins are my favorite animal, they've been my favorite animal for decades YOU THOUGHT THEY WERE FAKE?" Hitsugaya: "YOU ALSO USED TO LIKE UNICORNS!" Momo: "THOSE ARE ALSO REAL!" Orihime: "They are?" Momo: "...I keep forgetting they're extinct in the living world."

Tousen gets to experience the Touch Pool and the docents realize what's up so they start pulling out the cool stuff like sea hares and moray eels because he's an adult that can be trusted to pet things gently.

When the group comes back to collect him the staff is letting him hand feed a Pacific Red Octopus, and Yachiru immediately demands she be allowed to as well.

Retsu quietly releases Minazuki into the stingray touch pool so she can "go play with her cousins :)"

Kenpachi and Yamamoto asking "Can we eat it?" about every. single. animal.

The extremely dedicated docent that is *just* Psychic enough to know something is up with this group of chucklefucks so they're following them through the aquarium, but is also genuinely having fun answering every fucking insane question these guys ask.

Yoruichi was not anticipating there to be Tigers at the aquarium (they ARE semi-aquatic and part of a larger exhibit on Tropical Riparian Ecosystems) and she is SUPER NOT JEALOUS of how much Urahara and Baby Labcat like them.

There is also an exhibit with an Anaconda that the docent finds Rangiku staring at with a forlorn expression. Docent: "It's okay, not everyone is a fan of snakes." Rangiku: "What? Oh, no, I love snakes. They just also remind me of my Ex." Docent: *WomanTryingToDoMath.Meme* Docent: *Considers the size of the Anaconda* Docent: "...Ah. Yeah, I'd miss a man like that too."

Renji, Ichigo and Ikkaku going "Its YOU!" to each other over every single red, orange or round creature.

Kenpachi going "IT ME!!" about the black urchins before anyone can get him though.

Shunsui pointing at the sea otters that are holding hands and declaring, tears in his eyes "Jushiro! It's US!" Ukitake then prompty ruins the moment by telling Shunsui Fun Facts about Sea Otters like how they're basically giant marine weasels that will absolutely drown each other's young and maul anyone dumb enough to touch one.

The Dolphins all love Komamura and he is just a little bit smug about this.

Relatedly, not sure if its funnier for Komamura to show up in a Human Gigai, or as Tousen's "Service Dog"

Human Gigai: -Komamura is weirdly stony-faced and sort of intimidating and everyone thinks he's stressed out but really he's used to making micro-expressions and gesturing with his ears so he sorta just forgot how to move his face. -Still Nine and a Half feet tall and smacking his head on Everything

Service Dog: -"He's uh. A Shepherd. Mix." Ichigo says to the aforementioned Docent about what is very obviously a Bigass Timber Wolf. -Sajin doesn't give a rat's ass about his cover and keeps talking to Tousen while in dog form. If anyone looks at him funny he makes direct eye contact and says "Woof. Bark."

Yamamoto vs. Escalator. Catastrophic Beard Incident. 2 injured, 16 Dead but they were like that already.

Ukitake, Retsu, and Tama all Not Shutting Up With Facts About Every Fish Ever because they all share a Special Interest.

They briefly lose Byakuya in the Jellyfish exhibit because Rukia and Renji both thought the other one was holding Byakuya's hand and he is *enchanted* by the wall-sized tank of Moon Jellies.

Ikkaku attempting to talk Yachiru out of getting the ridiculously oversized Great White Shark plushie only for Zaraki to get it for both of them instead.

Everyone had a great time and is Very Tired and so they don't realize anything is amiss until they get back to Ichigo's place and the nightly news comes on. "Hey ichigo?" Yuzu calls. Yellow card update

Hi ya'll! So I barely use tumblr nowadays, but considering some stuff going on I thought it would be good to do a quick little come back.

So hi! I'm Kit, I write the griddlehark fic Yellow Card with my friend Starr. It's a very silly fanfiction about age difference Harrow and Gideon having an affair and raising a child together. It's pretty well known in TLT fan spaces which I'm super grateful for! It's not an understatement to call this little fic my pride and joy. I've spent the last two years working on it as my little labor of love and it's kinda grown a cult of followers! Really, it's a fun excuse for me and my friend to work on something we care about together. But lately I haven't felt inclined to work on it and I want to talk about why.

Over the last several months I've had some health stuff going on that's resulted in needing two surgeries. Along with that, I moved into a new place and my gf and I are managing some new financial stress. Plus, you know, the general state of democracy in decay all around the world. It doesn't leave me a lot of time or energy to write silly smut fic. Everyone has been very supportive of me taking the time I need to recover and I'm really grateful.

But... this is where I have to address some not great stuff. Today my friend approached me with a fanfiction making fun of my writing. And several posts from someone making fun of the tropes I use in the writing. Now, I want to make this abundantly clear. Absolutely no one is required to like my writing style or fics. I don't write for praise or wealth, just for my own personal happiness. I think everyone is within their right to complain to their friends if they dislike something they read. What I really can't tolerate however is this intense hostility toward myself or my fellow writers. Nor do I appreciate having an entire fic written mocking me or my stylistic choices.

Back when I first joined the TLT fandom in 2020 it was teeny tiny. Now it's a lot less so. It's been so satisfying to see everyone grow and change over the years, and I think I've grown a lot as a writer. Sadly though, I've seen a lot of stupid bullshit. I've seen personal friends of mine targeted in harassment campaigns because they ship the wrong ship. I've been added to public bookmarks complaining about my writing, I've been subtweeted, I've been made fun of. And I think I'm done.

I write for my own pleasure. I write to bond with my friends. I am not writing for homophobic assholes who use my work to mock me, nor make me or my co-writer the target of harassment. So, as a result, Yellow Card and all my other TLT fics are on an immidate hiatus, with the exception of one upcoming commission for the TLT for Palestine charity.

I spent a long time tonight debating if I should even write this post. It seems like by writing this I'd be giving the people making fun of me more ammo. But honestly? I don't care. My feelings are hurt. I am upset. I shouldn't have to hide that because some bullies will take bits of this statement to use in their next bitchy text post.

I want to reiterate something important. I am open to critque on my work. Anyone who has an issue with my writing style is more than welcome to come into my comments and let me know if something isn't flowing right, if there are unfortunate implications of a line I may not have considered, if there is something they personally find a bit distasteful. Sadly, the people doing this skipped right to mockery and ridicule, and that is unacceptable.

What drew me to this fandom in the first place was Muir's openness to her background in fanworks. She clearly takes such pride knowing her book series has spawned into a wild, happy fandom writing crack silliness and serious character study alike. Because that is what fandom is for. Having fun in a big beautiful sandbox, creating art with friends. And I treasure that deeply, even as I am forced to walk away from a space I love.

TLDR: TLT fandom is full of dicks. And not the kind I write about.

• and abby is super busy, but even she notices, it’s hard not to notice when she’s also taken aback by how pretty you are

• so she takes you under her wing, because she’s noticed people are kind of picking on you for it and she doesn’t like that

• ofc you’re like a lil ray of sunshine and you don’t even notice people are making fun of you for it which makes her even more fiercely protective of you

• “i see you’ve taken an interest in the klutz.” owen nicknames you, making conversation with abby when everyone’s grabbing food.

• “and by taken an interest, you mean keeping her away from assholes like you.” she barely glances his way, loading up her plate.

• “hey, i didn’t say anything. you know she’s gonna slow you down though right? that girls like bambi on ice.”

• she doesn’t have the energy to deal with him right now, so she stalks off to find you

• she starts trying to guide you a little, and honestly if she wasn’t so worried for your safety all the time she’d find your clumsiness adorable

• she’d be sending you off to do something for her but before you run off she puts a hand on your shoulder, making you look at her. “hey, look at me — slowly. okay? there’s no rush. go slow and watch your step.”

• you’d nod, carefully trotting away being extra careful of your feet which makes her smile.

• this continues through your relationship once the two of you end up together, and now she’s more comfortable with you she can be a lot more thorough and direct.

• she hands you a little box of supplies, it’s light and you immediately grab it tucking it under your arm. she doesn’t let go of the box when you go to move, looking at you with a kind yet stern expression. you stare back up at her with confused doe eyes and she takes your other hand, placing it under the box. “two hands, baby. remember what i said?” you nod, adjusting your grip and she nods back in approval. “good girl.”

• sometimes your clumsiness really gets you down, when falling has nearly cost you your own or someone else’s life. you find yourself curled up in abby’s lap after a particularly rough run in with a clicker, which could have been avoided if you’d watched your step. you’re crying into your hands and she’s shushing you, pulling your hands away so she can wipe your tears. you’d been brave until you’d gotten back to your room before breaking down to abby, which she expected seeing how shocked and distressed you seemed after she had saved you from being bitten.

• “its like my feet just move without my permission abby. i’m so stupid. it’s gonna kill me i—i can’t—” you spiral, sobs erupting from your throat as you clutch her hard like she might disappear.

• “you need to breathe, sweet girl okay? breathe with me, m’right here. it’s not your fault. nothings gonna get you, alright? not whilst i’m here.” she rocks you in her strong arms letting you cry it out.

• on a lighter note she gets so used to your antics that she can almost predict when you’re gonna slip or trip. you’ll go to take a step on some slippery ice in the snow and without even batting an eyelid her strong hands are on your waist, pulling you back into her. she says nothing, just points at the ice and your mouth makes a small ‘o’ shape, nodding and stepping around it.

• she’ll always tend to the injuries you get from being clumsy. always. no matter how tired she is, where you are, or how silly the mistake was. she’ll sit you down, pulling out the little first aid kit she keeps on her strictly for you and wipes down any cut or graze you’ve acquired. “how’d you get this one again?” she converses calmly, to show you she’s not mad at you. “was tryna climb a wall and i slipped.” you explain bashfully as she wipes your knee down. “alright. well be careful, don’t go climbing walls without me there again, yeah?” she looks up with you raised eyebrows as she unwraps the bandaid, making you smile and nod. “deal.”

SKZ girlies

What if- and hear me out -we just sit and think about the differences between each member’s girlfriends as a whole? Like, they all have girlfriends and the SKZ girlies (that’s what we shall call them) are all super close besties at this point. Just like each member basically has a role in the group, each SKZ girlie has a role.

No warnings...this is all mundane and cute things, nothing filthy. Enjoy!

Let’s begin!

Bang Chan’s girlie:

She’s the mom.

Let’s face it, whoever Chan ends up with automatically takes on the role of being the group’s mother. She’s very maternal, patient, extremely caring, and serious. She can be fun at the right times, but otherwise she’s in charge of keeping the peace so Chan can work without interruptions. She’s also very doting, meaning she will baby the members to the point of spoiling them. And don’t even mention one of them being hurt. She will run around the place with a first aid kit like a frantic mother looking for her lost and injured child.

She’s equally as much a workaholic as Channie.

On top of being a mother of (let’s face it) 14 kids (the members plus their partners), she is a working mom. Granted, she works from home…or the studio…or from backstage while the guys are on tour…or basically anywhere! She’s never without her laptop, phone and tablet, constantly working on each device simultaneously. Don’t worry, she is still aware of what is going on around her, and she makes all the time in the world for her boyfriend and his members, including their partners. She plans all the events to make sure they aren’t missing anything in each other’s lives.

Insomniac extraordinaire.

Just like Channie, she doesn’t sleep often. All too often, one of the other girlies has to remind her to sleep. Her excuse? “I’ll sleep when I finish this” or “I’ll get some shut eye when Channie makes me cuddle him”. Does he make her? No, but she wouldn’t deny him those precious moments together, and it’s those moments that make her fall asleep so easily. Can we blame her? Being in his arms would be the best sleeping aid in the universe.

Lee Know’s girlie:

Quiet observer.

She’s exactly like a cat, and Lee Know loves it. She will sit and observe, content and quiet the entire time. She isn’t quiet the whole time, though. She will join in the conversation or laugh at the jokes being made, but she mostly just sits and watches, like a cat watching its prey. She pays very close attention to each person, gauging them silently. To some, she seems intimidating. She’s really not, though, that’s just a misunderstanding.

A big softie.

This one kind of ties in with our previous one. She seems intimidating, but she’s actually a big softie. She cares for each member in various ways. Remember how we established she is an observer? This is where it comes in handy. She pays attention to each member (both the guys and the girlies) in order to show she cares for them each in different ways. Whether it be a new paint brush set for Hyunjin, or a new necklace for the maknae’s girlie, she knows exactly what to get each person in their group.

She can COOK.

She has taken over as the cook in the group, replacing Lee Know and Felix easy. She’s so good, the guys often beg her to make specific dishes. She and Lee Know even have cooking dates, instead of going out for dinner. They will stay in and cook a meal together, finding it the best way to spend quality time together and make it memorable. She always makes sure to put some of their meals back for the others, though, making sure they always get their share.

Changbin’s girlie:

Loud (but in a cute way).

Just like her Binnie, this girlie is loud in the best way. Some of the others call her obnoxious, but to Changbin his baby is adorable. Especially when she laughs, because she laughs unapologetically and with her whole being. And she loves to make others laugh with her loud antics. She will do whatever she can, as loud as she can, to make them all laugh along with her.

Smart to the extreme.

Don’t challenge her, because if you do you will become embarrassed with how much this girlie knows. She can, and will, outsmart you with no shame, but she doesn’t want to make you feel dumb. She still cares, so she will try her best to teach you so the next time you will feel equal.

Gym Rat for fun.

She loves going to the gym! Working out is her therapy. She doesn’t do it to lose weight or gain muscle, but maintaining her health is important to her. Just like any short girlie (because she’s short, I mean she’s with our shortest short king, come on) she has that short fuse to match it. Little Firecracker, as Binnie calls her. She accompanies Binnie, or 3Racha at times, to the gym and lets the stress sweat out of her. Sometimes, if it’s just her and Binnie, she will even let him bench press her for fun.

Hyunjin’s girlie:

Simp for Romance.

Probably the similarity between the two, this girlie just loves love. Hopeless romantic, always with her head in the clouds, reading about it, etc. Love is just, well, lovely. She even goes so far as to learn Hyunjin’s love language and share hers with him. And she isn’t against getting flowers for her man, either. Again, she loves love, and she will do whatever to show her Hyunjin how much romance means to her. Valentine’s Day will be extravagant when she plans it, and she might even ask for Chan’s girlie to help her with the planning, if she isn’t too busy with her lover, that is.

Calm and collected.

Often times this is mistaken as ‘maturity’, but really this girlie is just super calm and collected. She has that aura of peace about her that doesn’t ever seem to break. Yes, she can laugh at the jokes and get loud just like the others, but she isn’t the dramatic type. She doesn’t go overboard with her actions, and she prefers to have clarity when looking at any situation. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t enjoy watching her boyfriend be dramatic, though. His theatrics make her laugh too much.

Clumsy.

Where Hyunjin is graceful, his girlie is…well, not so much. Listen, she looks graceful, she just can’t seem to act the part. What was that Doja Cat lyric again? ‘I’m clumsy, I made friends with the floor’. Yep, that’s Hyunjin’s girlie. She seems to be the most accident prone girlie, getting constant attention from Chan’s girlie for medical needs. And instead of Hyunjin shaking his head over it, or getting upset, he laughs it off with her. “That’s my girl, learning to walk still.” But when she is graceful, no matter how rare the moment, she embodies it like a goddess.

Han’s girlie:

Sleep Queen.

You know how in just about every SKZ Talker, you will find a sleeping Quokka? Yeah, expect that times 2 now! Han’s girlie is the sleep queen and will fall asleep just about anywhere, especially with her man. You notice a large nest of blankets and pillows? Expect to find Han and his girlie cuddled up in that nest, napping away as if they are hibernating. And when they finally emerge from their nest, they can both be found sleepily stuffing their cheeks with food. Pretty sure Hyunjin has pointed out that they look the same even.

Anime Lover.

What could go better with cuddles in their nest other than a nap? Anime! It doesn’t matter how many times they have seen it; they will watch every single Studio Ghibli movie over and over again. Yes, they watch other anime too, but nothing beats the storyline and art of Studio Ghibli. It’s actually how they bonded when they first met. Anime is what brought this girlie to her Han Quokka.

Shyyyyyy.

She is…shy. She’s a little, giggly, quiet mess. Especially when meeting someone new. When she first met Han, she couldn’t stop smiling and giggling, and she was always whispering to him instead of speaking out loud. It took her awhile to come out of her shell, but she is still quite shy. She doesn’t even like taking pictures often. Best representation of her would be Fluttershy from My Little Pony. Sweet, soft voice, not very outspoken, avoids any and all drama and conflict. Yeah. But Han loves her and wouldn’t change how she is no matter what.

Felix’s girlie:

Literal Sunshine 2.

We all know how Felix is nicknamed ‘Sunshine’ of the group. Well, turn on the high beams, because his girlie is just as bright and happy. She smiles a lot, and she’s always kind. You need a hug? She’s right there. Need to talk and let out your feelings? Give her a call, day or night. She is the ultimate friend, and it shows. Her consideration knows no bounds, and she cares so deeply for her friends. She is warmth and sunshine in a human being just like her boyfriend.

Gamer.

She games. Any game. You name it, she’s probably played it. She games with the guys, too. Most of the time, she annihilates them with her skills. This makes Felix proud to call her his, because she can keep up with the top dogs of gaming and match them tit for tat. “That’s my girl!” would ring in the headset as they play, his voice proud while the others sigh in defeat and groan from losing to a girl. Often times, the guys would joke that Felix rides her coat tails, but she simply reminds them that they would be too if they were teamed up with her simply because they lost to her. A little cocky, but it’s the truth.

ALLLL THE CUDDLES.

She is a cuddle bug! Her love language is definitely Physical Touch, because if you can’t find her and Felix baking, gaming or doing anything else, they are most likely cuddling somewhere just hanging out. This is perfect for Felix, too, since he loves to cuddle. If they are out in public, she’s under his arm or holding his hand for that physical contact. She even picked up the habit of massaging Felix’s hands or shoulders, just like he does to the others. It’s just some kind of physical contact, and it’s bliss to her.

Seungmin’s girlie:

Nonchalant Affection.

You know those couples- I know you’ve seen them -where they don’t even act like normal couples? Okay, well, if you haven’t you are about to, because Seungmin and his girlie don’t show affection like others do. I mean, yeah, they kiss and hold hands, but it’s more…well, nonchalant. ‘Did they just kiss?’ *shrug* yeah, and? ‘Are they holding hands while walking together? So cute!’ It’s just hand holding. Don’t get me wrong, they smile about it because it is cute, but when other people make a big deal of it, it’s just not the same.

Side note: I am a firm believer that Seungmin and his girlie would say stuff like “I love you and stuff” or “I miss you or whatever” and it would just be their thing. To others, it would sound so unromantic, but to them it is the declarations of their feelings for each other.

Sassy.

You guys thought Seungmin was sassy, just wait until you meet his other half. She is the sass queen and wears the crown proudly. You want to make jokes? Step aside, your queen has arrived. Seungmin even told her about how he calls Chan ‘old man’, so she started calling his girlie ‘Granny’. There has even been times where her sass and mouth have gotten her in trouble with the SKZ manager. It’s just like she doesn’t have a filter, but Seungmin don’t mind. As a matter of fact, he finds it completely hilarious and entertaining.

Immature (in a good way).

Kind of goes hand in hand with her being the sass queen, her immaturity makes for great jokes and pranks. She would be considered the ‘class clown’ in the SKZ girlie group, and her favorite thing to do is make Seungmin laugh. She just adores his laughter so much; she can’t help it. So, she constantly tells jokes and pranks the others just to hear his laughter in the end. Wholesome, I know.

I.N’s girlie:

Fashionista.

I.N met his match with his girlie. You wouldn’t catch his girlie dead without looking like she just stepped out of a fashion magazine. Even her casual attire is fashion forward! Doesn’t matter where they are going, or what they are doing, she has to look her best. Just going to the airport? Comfort chic, baby. Just going to the park? Casual chic, darling. And it’s not that she’s materialistic, she just knows how to look good is all.

Insta Baddie.

This ties in with the one above, but it’s not like she needs to be a fashionista to be the insta baddie she is. Her Instagram is full of her being the bad bitch she was born to be. She looks the part, too. Don’t mess with the maknae of either group, or else you will regret it later. She knows she’s hot, and if you disagree just don’t voice it out loud. Keep that to yourself, buddy, especially if you value your life. And this isn’t to say she’s conceited or vain, she just knows who she is.

Literally ‘baby’.

She’s the youngest in the girlie group, too, and she gets spoiled because of it. The attention she gets from the SKZ girlies is quite literally princess treatment. Not that she asks for it, but she gets it either way. Chan’s girlie and Lee Know’s girlie both treat her like their unofficial love child, even. She even calls them ‘mom’ at times for the laughs.

Dovepaw being worried for the other Clans + her thoughts about having this power should put her above the Clan rules could be so interesting. the series back-and-forths over Lionblaze (we must protect ThunderClan) and Dovepaw (we must protect all the Clans) even though Lionblaze gets annoyed at Dovepaw for using her powers to look after ThunderClan???

The whole "being obsessed with Prophecy and what it means" is probs a part of Jay's character (as he baso became a med cat to fulfil his destiny) but it also feels like a gross misunderstanding of what a Prophecy is. All the "the dark forest is rising. This might be what the Three is meant for" is like putting the horse before the cart- a prophecy is meant to describe a situation and hint at the character/means to solve it; but PO3/OoTS has the characters/means to solve, but no conflict :/ its a bit backwards.

I like the mentions of Firestar + Sandstorm going on night hunts etc.

Blossompaw/fall's a cunt lol. Shes kinda fun but shes not nice at all especially to Ivypool.

all the hints to Hollyleaf still... its a nice throughline... the yarrow and tansy and Molepaw/Cherrypaw scenes... shes my fave. sometimes the foreshadowing feels like it could be just Jayfeather coping that she's 'defo still out there' but TFW ties it up well. especially when you get surprised by Sol coming back and its like 'oh they were convinced she was defo still out there :(' and then she's actually back!!!

also the title??? is banger. the Forgotten Warrior, with Leafpool on the OG cover??? wow. espec as its constantly brought up that Leafpool was the medicine cat but no one sees her as a warrior really.... TBH all these titles are just as good as the TPB titles in terms of meaning/how good they are.

Haha, okay, that vocal delivery is great and I love that paranoia of the "what if He hears us?" followed by "shit!" Paranoid characters can be really hit-or-miss, though, and this particular shtick could get old really fast; I hope it doesn't.

Favorite moment

This is such a hard call! I'm especially torn between two moments: Of course the initial "Heart. Lungs. Liver. Nerves." is amazing and holds a special place in my heart because it's the moment I knew I absolutely adored her. But also, despite loving absolutely everything about both the Wraith and the Moment of Clarity and the transitions into both of them… "Oh right, yeah, fuck this guy. Don't trust Him." all by itself makes me love freeing the Nightmare in her Chapter II just as much. (Not that there aren't other great lines in that path, like the delivery of "I thought you needed me to run the autonomic nervous system?" which is just hysterical to me! But that line… It just won me over even more.)

As an honorable mention, let me pour one out for the cut Paranoid moment in Apotheosis:

I carry this moment, and Paranoid's thoughts about listening to others' lies having value, in my heart forever. It's just such an interesting touch and I'm incredibly sad it's gone!

Idea for a story

I have so many unbaked, half-formed idea snippets and NO details to go with them:

Paranoid running into trouble when her overpreening habits leave her without the ability to fly in a key situation, when she'd been able to (with increasing difficulty) up to that point since getting out of the Construct.

The world outside the Construct being some post- or mid-apocalypse survival horror situation and somehow Paranoid's body winds up warping in ways that remind her unpleasantly of Nightmare, primarily a bunch of eyes beginning to open up all over her body, especially her wings.

Either post-Construct or a mundane AU, bird-people or human or just human-looking, where Paranoid figures out she's trans (and slowly gains in confidence) due to drag.

Something that explores the idea of the beta voices actually turning into some of the current voices (Doubting becoming Skeptic, Flinching becoming Cheated, Meek becoming Paranoid, and Obsessed becoming either Stubborn or both Hunted and Stubborn -- and Smitten splitting off from the beta's Hero too actually!). I actually do really like the idea of the beta voices being their own individual people out there somewhere, but Paranoid reverting to Meek for a while under some circumstance could be fun to play with! And only Hero, Broken, Cold, and Contrarian would even possibly remember Meek…

Unpopular opinion

Paranoid really is not helpless and I think some people forget that sometimes! She's also got wonky morals. I'd argue that the voices you can get in other voices' Chapter IIIs often says something about them; while getting Paranoid in Apotheosis is more her going "That's Enough" and getting Skeptic in both Eye of the Needle and Den is kind of the same, the way Cold and Opportunist both show up in Wraith-from-Nightmare feels more… simpatico with how Paranoid operates? Paranoid can be fucking ruthless and also seize any opportunity she spots, especially if she doesn't trust a person (and the only people she trusts are the Long Quiet and the other voices).

She is also totally willing to abandon or murder a woman and the only one she seems to feel at all bad about at any point to any degree is the Wounded Wild. She's also also super dedicated to coming out unharmed and surviving, but she will do things like advise slitting our own throat when she thinks it's a good idea, and she is prone to panic but also remarkably self-aware about it and knows her own paranoid tendencies aren't always good, and both of those things can be easy to forget but I love them!

Finally, I want to note that people sometimes seem to forget that she doesn't actually get along as badly with Opportunist as you'd think she might! Maybe it's because when you get Opportunist in Wraith, it's specifically via doing exactly what Paranoid is advising (or would advise) you to do in that situation. Cheated and even Hero are more snippy with and disparaging of Opportunist -- even Smitten is to some degree -- and Paranoid is more snippy with Hero and Broken, and Skeptic is the one who seems most disparaging of her. The dynamics being different from what you might think fascinates me, really, and I'm curious about how both new and old dynamics might end up looking in the Pristine Cut.

Favorite relationship

I MEAN…

Much like last time, romantically speaking I love her dynamic with Cold. But platonically, I'm fascinated by her dynamics with Broken, Opportunist, and the Narrator, love her dynamic with Hero, and would be interested to see more (or any) of her dynamic with Hunted, Skeptic, and/or Smitten in the Pristine Cut.

Among the vessels, I also think she'd have interesting dynamics with Damsel, Prisoner, Spectre, Stranger, and Thorn, and would actually love to see more of her dynamic with Nightmare, Wild, and Wraith. (Looking forward to those new Chapter IIIs, too, and I'm very curious about the expanded Apotheosis chapter!)

Favorite headcanon

Well, hands down my favorite headcanon is transfem Paranoid!

But I am also super attached to her having major difficulties with getting her own body: She overpreens to the point of not being able to fly, she has all sorts of trouble sleeping (nightmares, night terrors, insomnia, even sleepwalking), and worst of all she has a harder time trusting the others to the same extent that she used to, at least at first. They're still parsing as us but they're also parsing as other and it fucks with her a bit. She also can panic due to not being able to protect the others or sense the pain/injury/illness/etc. of the others the way she'd have been able to if they still shared a body...

Like, overall she does like having her own body, it's quieter and she has more control over herself, but there's a lot that's difficult about it for her too.

So there's Calida, Dew/Step-Dad Aether

Angst - I like to think there's a section in her growing up that scares her pretty damn good and that's her accidentally going into the lake after chasing Rain and Dew just really fucking fast jumps in and grabs her out. Once they're out she's able to see Dew shaking, crying, and once he hands her over to Aether she's able to see and realize he's hurt really bad. He's just calming her, making sure she can't see his blisters and burns. More importantly he's checking over her and not giving a two-time shit about his injuries. She's now extremely hyper aware of water being around her Mana.

Fluff - Even as she grows up, she never stops saying "Mana" and "Daba/Bada" which is basically mama banana and daddy banana. Literally when she comes to visit or they visit her she just starts squealing, jumping up and down before running over. "MANA! MANA! AAHH!! DABA!!!" definitely a daddy's girl still, whining and giving the best puppy eyes to get what she wants from Aether.

Starlight, Phantom/Dew/Swiss' kid!

Angst - Phantom has really strange feelings for his son, it's more so just constantly disbelief of; "This is mine?" Phantom is still an absolutely amazing parent, and luckily the feelings are super rare! It was mostly around with postpartum, and when it does happen, Phantom has a little codeword with the others that's "I need blanket time." They'll take Starlight and the other that doesn't will follow Phantom to reassure him and let them explain what they're feeling. They just need a break every now and then

Fluff - "Little bit" is a mutt when it comes to his element. He's more Quintessence/Fire than anything else but he's showed others! Starlight has popped a flower sprout on the top of his head before and Swiss just "Oops." It's an absolute fun adventure during the toddler stages, trying to duck away as Starlight thinks it's the funnest game in the world to use his telekinesis to throw his toys at his parents. He's got Swiss' attitude and Dew's rowdiness all in one it's a FUN time /lh

There's also Strawberry (yes, Strawberry) who's a quiet kit I've made with Cowbell/Gaia dkkekd. Not much about her though

Angst - Bell is a wreck around children, even moreso when he finds out he's having one. Constant meltdowns and wavering opinions on what to do. It was one time he tried sex. Once!! One second he's excited and over the moon, looking at baby clothes and how he wants his nursery — the next he's hating it, wanting to terminate, self doubting himself and the Doves. When she's born, his post partum depression is TERRIBLE. There was a brief period for about three weeks when Special was the main caretaker as Bell just... Couldn't

Fluff - Despite her infant stages, Cowbell really loves her. She's mainly taken care of by the Doves and Special, but he's there too! Loves taking her on little dates for ice cream and lots of parallel play. Bell calls her his little berry/jammy, and she gets over the moon excited when he comes around. His instincts take over a lot when she's near, curling up next to her, grooming, and sometimes even scruffing when he feels they need to be alone. She knows that Bell is her parent, but also knows their relationship is a little weird, but she doesn't look at him any less and just honestly adores Bell. She's an earth ghoul through and through! Loves playing in the mud and collecting rocks, sometimes Bell, Gaia, and her will have nap time in the forest and they even have a little tree hammock 🥺🥺

I (re)read Warriors: Into the Wild

Hi I'm Ari.

When I was younger (like late elementary/early middle school) I absolutely loved the Warrior Cats series. Like seriously I loved these books to death. I actually have read the first three books of the original arc like 10 times as a kid because I didn't have the rest but still loved it so much. I remember liking the medicine cats (Yellowfang and Jayfeather were my two favorite characters as a kid).

Well anyways that was then. Today I am a grown adult who just was like "hey I wonder if I was right to have an obsession with the cat books" so I'm going to read the books (and probably do these write ups) until I get bored. Well that's it for an introduction here's my thoughts:

Firepaw is a really fun main character who's perfectly flawed

Look at him. He's so orange

I honestly remember Firepaw (and later Fireheart) being kind of an infuriating main character when I was a kid. He just kind of seemed, to 9 year old me, like he was super reckless about dealing with problems. As a not 9 year old Firepaw actually is pretty neat.

So one I now understand that his backstory is literally not wanting to get his balls cut off and that's super funny.

And two I just can appreciate his flaws now way more. Like why would he break warrior law or whatever? Because he's literally like under a year old it's not shocking he's going to break the rule of "no eating while hunting" on day like 2 of clan cating. His flaws are great at illustrating how he is still, deep down, having to adapt to a significant change to his life.

Also his handling of Ravenpaw's situation (kind of rushed as a arc but still good) is great at foreshadowing both his leadership ability which will... uh... be a little important for him later some may say.

I want to write more but the main things I didn't like as a kid came in the next two books so I'm going to hold out until then.

Tigerclaw is a banger villain like oh my god he's so good

I think Tigerclaw is the perfect villain. He's manipulative in such a clever way. He is able to exploit the social structure the series is built around as part of his villainy. The reason he succeeds is because of the fact that he is plain and simple strong. He's meant to expose the flaw with the way clans function by showing that his extreme "earned" social influence and the loyalty of his clanmates are used to do evil.

He's also genuinely scary. We as readers see through Firepaw's eyes and, to him, Tigerclaw is this massive figure who seems impossible to beat physically and socially. Tigerclaw is the perfect insurmountable force for Firepaw to have to go against because he just feels impossible. Even though I know he's dealt with (again, read like 10+ times when I was a kid) as a current reader it makes me want to see how Firepaw (now Fireheart technically but whatever) is able to take him down.

I didn't expect my reaction to rereading would be seeing the beauty in how Tigerclaw functions in the story but oh my he's so so well done

Yellowfang was child me's favorite in this arc. I was spitting

She's simply so awesome.

It's everything. All of her dialogue is amazing. Her character is beautifully done. She's a cat who had truly given up on life after being kicked out but ended up being drawn by her innate though hidden desire to protect so much so that Yellowfang risks her life multiple times for the kits of cats that hated her. She's genuinely so strong and noble in the not boring way.

It's a unique look on strength. Normally strength is shown like Lionheart: a strong, steady, good decision maker who's meant to be an inspiration to the kids. You'd definitely let Lionheart raise your kids. But Yellowfang isn't that at all. She's shady, rude, but still shows the strength of heart is spite of her initial appearance. What a genuinely incredible character. I probably don't want to cover most of the big like 500 pagers but I remember loving Yellowfang's as a kid so I might do that one. Also the Bluestar one.

Why am I so invested in these books?? I am literally and adult why??

Is this fine literature? No.

Did Into the Wild make me, someone who doesn't read much, actually actively want to read? Somehow, yes.

I see how I would burn through these as a kid they are like incredible junk food. The twix bars of literature. I mean it's not like nutritious but wow is it just good on the heart. I liked the book quite a bit and couldn't put it down.

I don't care that I'm not the same demographic the book caters to. I'm having fun reading and that doesn't happen for me much. So I shamelessly will say I liked this book. I mean it's shameless because I'm putting this on Tumblr in the Warrior cats tag I wouldn't like tell my dad or anything.

Miscellaneous funny things:

There's a scene where an Ravenpaw hunts an adder and brings it back and it falls over his neck. For just one moment Ravenpaw was dripped out. I think about this scene more than any other in this book. I love Ravenpaw. I know he got his own book and I'll get to that eventually maybe. I didn't feel like writing a whole thing for him but I'm so glad he's living it up in the twolegplace. May my boy stay fashionable forever.

Also Riverclan were like massive cowards just Crookedstar being like "yeah take my hunting ground Shadowclan I don't even need to discuss it with my clan" bro if I was one of those weird webbed cats I'd be SOOO mad.

And as always, I do I have really bad OCD that causes me to write in some random capitalization, and punctuation, But I think that we don't have to worry about that in this fic lol.    Renfield had just gotten to the support group, he ran inside the gym to warn everyone that they needed to leave and they needed to leave now. He thought that he had made it in time until Dracula was invited inside. He started killing all of Renfields friends one by one, until he got to the girl that always sat in  the back, and never spoke up. Dracula found himself not being able to kill the girl, being stopped by an invisible force field. 

  “Leave him alone.” The girl said in a voice much stronger than anything Renfield had ever been able to get out to Dracula before. 

  “Or what? You think your power can stop me?” Dracula responded, trying to break through her force field again. Except this time though, Dracula was thrown backwards and into the wall when he hit it this time. 

  “Get out.” She said, going to stand over Dracula, daring him to try something again. Then Dracula looked at Renfield, and then back to the girl, before he heard the very distant sounds of sirens, due to his super hearing, and left in the form of bats. 

  The girl turned around, to see Renfield leaning over the bodies of their friends who had been torn from the inside out. 

  “This is all my fault.” She heard him mumble as she went to lean down next to him, seeing if there was anything that she could do to help him. 

  “No it isn’t, don’t blame yourself for the things that prick does.” She said, gently placing her hand on his back. 

  “That was incredible, how you stood up to him.” Renfield said, finally looking up at her, and meeting her eyes, he wondered how he had never really noticed her before. “I would ask you more, but you need to leave before the police get here.” 

  “I’m not leaving you like this.” She said seriously. She could not say anymore before Renfield cut her off. 

  “Now, (Y/n), go home, and lock yourself in, use your magic to defend yourself until I give you the all clear.” He said, looking up at her, practically begging her. She was almost thrown off guard by how he knew her name. “Please.” 

  “Fine.” She said standing up, grabbing a piece of paper, writing her number and address down on it before pushing it into his pocket. “You come get me if you need any help.” She said to him, waiting for a nod before she left. She knew that she could be no help to him if she was sitting in jail. 

  It wasn’t until the next day, when she turned on her tv after just having taken  her morning shower, when she saw that on the news, a bloodied Renfield in the background of a news report on the lobos finally being taken down. She grabbed her keys and made her way down to where the news was taking place. 

  “Robert?!” Was all Renfield heard in a worried yell of his name, before he saw her running towards him, and what looked like a small first aid kit in her hand. 

  “Woah, woah, steady now.” He said when he got up, and grabbed the girl's shoulders so she wouldn’t fall over. \

  “What the hell happened?!” She asked while opening her kit, and taking a small cleaning wipe out of its packaging and getting the blood off of his face, hoping that none of it would reveal any wounds. “Are you alright?” 

  Renfield calmly explained everything as he had her sit with him, and let her get the blood off of his face, before he asked her for a favor. “I need your help in bringing our friends from the support group back.” 

  “You what?” The girl quickly knew what he met, when he got her to help him and Rebecca, bring all of the bodies back into the gym, and had her help them cover everyone's wounds in Dracula's blood the next day. 

  “I can’t believe all of this happened in the span of two days” The girl said while letting out a laugh, as she and Renfield left the meeting that day. 

  “I can’t believe you’re a witch.” He said while walking on her left side, blocking her from the road. 

  “Yeah, it runs in my family, we’ve been witches for generations now.” She said while looking up at him and finally getting a good look at his face. 

  “I would love to hear more about it, perhaps over dinner?” He asked, stopping in front of her car. “Unless you are involved of course.” 

  “No! No! I would love to! I broke up with the reason I go to the group a few weeks ago, I still go to try and work on myself.” She said while unlocking her door. 

  “How about 8:00 tomorrow at that new Italian place down the road? I still have your address so I can pick you up” Renfield asked, he actually wasn’t aware of the new italian place until last night, when he was asking Rebecca for advice on how to ask you on a date. 

  “That sounds great.” She said while beaming up at him. 

  “I’m really happy to have met you.” Renfield told her as he closed her car door for her. He didn’t know why he had blurted it out, he just felt the need to tell her after all of her help with Dracula. 

  “Same here.” She said as she rolled her window down. “It’s a date?” 

  “It’s a date.” Renfield said as she smiled and pulled onto the road. Once he could not see her car anymore, he pulled out his phone, and told Rebecca the news while she insisted on helping him decide what to wear for the date tomorrow. He simply could not wait for 8:00 tomorrow when he would get to see her beautiful face again.

natlan act 3 and 4

act 3

i feel like i liked this act if i just. ignore everything closely related to the main plot LMAOOO

idk everything about natlan's main plot just feels very like. unfocused and wishy washy??? mavuika's plan sucks, capitano's plan sucks, the backup plan sucks, despite everything i'm not really feeling the urgency of the crisis either???

the writing in general just feels like they needed the plot to move in a certain direction but they didn't really know how to execute it so everything just feels half-assed

in short the plot sucks and they're just trying to cover it with spectacle

but i think i enjoyed act 3 just because i like the characters more in general. citlali was a pleasant surprise i quite like her so i didn't mind that it focused on her and ororon, unlike the everyone loves kachina nonsense we got in the first 2 acts

that being said ororon's whole thing for me was like... i can see the bones of an interesting character there but his reasoning/actions didn't really feel believable it was just convenient for the plot at the moment

his intended gap moe also didn't really work imo like it was oscillating too much between serious angst and the soft boy granny shit lol. the khaenrian possessing him for a sec was just so fucking random too

the whole infiltration scene with chasca and chuychu would have been good if we could actually.... play it.... it felt rather pointless otherwise. like we can run around as mavuika but not chasca???? it's not like we're doing anything with a kit here!!!!

i also really liked the sister dynamic between those two. chuychu should have been playable damn it and i feel like she would have been if not for. well. the next act

capitano idk. i cannot take him seriously he just feels so goofy cartoony villain but not actually to me lmao

act 4

i can't say that act 4 redeemed the natlan archon quest, but it was significantly better than the previous 3 acts, specifically because of the invasion part

the circumstances that led to the fatui and us joining forces still feel silly and wishy washy to me but now that we're over that we can actually get to the meat of the plot

i'm still gonna shit on capitano being a goofy character for me but he was better in this act

the invasion part was by far my favorite, the map intel thing was an amazing mechanic. it had me super immersed AND emotionally invested - it was really cool being able to see who was doing what where, and each fight and update just got more and more distressing and heartbreaking

i kept harping in previous acts about how the stakes did not feel like they were there and how the abyss didn't really feel like a threat but they sure damn did here

one of the few instances it felt like genshin was really showing, not telling, and it worked

also fucked up that chuychu dying was necessary for chasca to awaken her ancient name they should have given her playable character plot armor

anyways the entire invasion arc was fun. i don't have much to say about it otherwise since it wasn't really a lot of plot just a lot of action.

i'm gonna be real with you all though i really don't care for mavuika she feels very nothingburger of a character to me. compared to the other archons she feels incredibly flat and one-dimensional even my goofy friend capitano over here is more interesting at the moment

that one shot of the false sky was hype though like GIRL WHAT THE FUCK IS THATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

Let’s make a Sim!

I thought it’d be fun to do a quick step-by-step rundown of how I make Sims. Long post, so I’ll put everything under the cut:

Step 1. Start with a base.

I keep a set of blank base Sims in my gallery to start with, so I don’t have to waste time removing clothes/accessories/hair/etc. These one’s were originally premades (the ones that pop up when you first open CAS), but it really doesn’t matter what they look like because we’ll be changing everything about them in a second.

Step 2. Randomize!

First let’s untick everything but the “face” and “skin tone” boxes for the randomization options. (The whole point of starting off with a base Sim was so we wouldn’t have to bother removing stuff.)

And...randomize!

I use Zerbu’s More CAS Presets mod to add a bunch of additional presets, so randomizing will generally give me something different every time. (I also have a ton of custom presets, but linking them individually would take 100 years, so we’ll skip that.)

Perfect! We’ll use this as a base to work with.

I actually like her underlying structure, so instead of choosing new face presets we’ll just work with what we already have.

Step 3. Adjust, adjust, adjust.

Let’s start making some adjustments. We’ll pull the ears out so they don’t lay so flat against her head, and lengthen her face a bit. I find that Sims tend to have kind of round face shapes with small jaws/chins, and I prefer them to be a little longer and more defined, so that’s usually the first thing I do. (Obviously you’ll tailor your Sims to your personal tastes, though.)

We’ll make some small adjustments to her jaw, cheeks, nose, lips, and chin. I prefer bigger noses on Sims, so I usually drag them down/out a bit. I also like sharper and more “severe” bone structure vs. soft and round, so I like to add extra definition.

Next we’ll add CC eyebrows (@ikari-sims‘s Jenna brows) and adjust the brow line a bit... (I’m a big fan of distinctive brows, so I tend to make them thicker/wider.)

Change the eye color (I’m using @missrubybird‘s Aqua Trigger eyes here), make a few more small facial tweaks...

Aaand there we are! I’m happy with her facial structure, so now we’ll move on to...

Step 4. Body.

I prefer custom body presets to the ones that come with the game, so we’ll use one of @obscurus-sims‘s female body presets and adjust it a bit (widen the shoulders and neck, make arms a bit thicker).

Step 5. Add body blush.

The first detail I add is always tattoo body blush. It’s a small difference, but that little bit of color is a must for me. I’m using a mix of @simandy‘s Torrada Blush and @obscurus-sims‘s Body Blush. (I think I use these two on every Sim I make.)

Step 6. Skin detail time!

Skin details do most of the heavy lifting. We’ll start with a skinblend (@obscurus-sims‘s N15 Overlay):

Then we’ll add some of @okruee‘s Misc. Face Details and one of @sammi-xox‘s Eye Masks.

Then @mmsims‘s Eyelashes V7 + @mintvalentine‘s Lash Filler, @nesurii‘s Little Details, @pyxiidis‘s Miscellany Pt.2 Nosemask, and @miikocc‘s Face-kit No.1.

Fabulous. Officially done with details!

Step 7. Hair.

Next up is adding hair + a hairline. I’m really loving @daylifesims‘s Gretchen hair right now, and we’ll pair it with @pixelore‘s Organic hairline.

Step 8. Makeup.

Optional, of course. I’m using @pralinesims‘s Lioness Eyeliner, @grimcookies‘s August Eyeshadow, @thepeachyfaerie‘s Eraser Lipstick, and @crypticsim​‘s Cloud Blush.

Step 9. Clothes & accessories.

Now let’s dress her up! We’ll go with @its-adrienpastel​‘s Saviour Dress, @solistair​‘s Calf Boots, @aharris00britney​‘s Beret, @kumikya​‘s Pearl Necklace, and @caio-cc​‘s Naomi Earrings.

And there she is! I think she turned out super cute.

Whenever I see the Sonic IDW writers put out stuff that I don’t like, I keep having to remind myself that very little of what they make is canon. These people can’t even write their own original characters consistently. There’s no way that they’re going to write the game characters accurately.

Tangle was meant to be a free spirit, but she ended up being the biggest supporter for the de facto government, who almost always bends the knee to others. Whisper was meant to be this super cautious warrior badass, but now she’s just part of the background. Surge and Kit were supposed to be the dark reflection of Sonic and Tails by being a parody of how Sonic and Tails are often misinterpreted in the fandom, with Surge being a narcissistic brute who uses her free spirit to cause chaos and occasionally helps people only for the praise and Kit being her submissive, abused, sidekick, male wife. Am I the only one who thought that was a fun dynamic? First they wanted to destroy the world, but then they wanted to be heroes. Now Surge wants to be a hero but is maybe now being manipulated by Kit even though that's the exact opposite of how they were introduced, meaning now they are completely different characters.

In a long-running episodic franchise like the Sonic series, I don't want the characters to change too drastically, because that's not why I become invested in characters in an episodic series. I just want to see the same characters I love be placed in different situations to see how they react. "Oh, but this is actually really cool because it shows how they can experience character development, unlike those shitty game characters." One, the game characters do experience some character development; two, serialized stories aren't inherently better than episodic ones; and three, it's not character development if they're just suddenly different characters with no build-up. That just means you've replaced the character I got attached to with this new character that I hate because they're wearing the skin of the character I used to like. The comic characters would actually be really good if they were just written consistently from how they were introduced, but that can be said for the comic as a whole. If only it were written consistently. That's the trick, isn't it? The fact that the characterization of the comic characters is all over the place really shows that the game characters having inconsistent characterization isn't even entirely on purpose. The Sonic IDW writers just suck. Why haven’t they been fired yet? Can there at least be some decent editors hired to keep them in check?

Yeah, nothing in the comic or anything it does or anything it makes the characters I love do really bothers me. Not in a long term sense. It's like tears in rain. It blends in and washes away. Because I know nothing that the comic does will touch the video games. The games will continue as they always have, and always will.

What's funny is IDW fired the editor who had been working on the comic since the beginning a year ago lol

Presumably this is the editor who shot down Flynns original pitch for Surge and Kit as he had wanted to introduce them right from the beginning.

So literally no, there's nobody at the reigns of this out of control wagon anymore =P
