Do you have any thoughts on how Snape would have acted if Harry had been sorted into Slytherin? While I can’t help but feel that there would be a part of him who would want to joyously gloat about James Potter’s son ending up in Slytherin, I can’t help but wonder if he wouldn’t still hold a mountain of resentment that would be incorrectly targeted towards Harry? Do you have any thoughts on this? Thanks!

I think one of the key aspects of Snape and Harry's relationship is that they don't really know each other and don't get a chance to. If you look at how the rest of the staff treat Snape, there seems to be respect for him and while I'm not sure how many of his colleagues actively like him, they certainly don't dislike him. We see this in how the rest of the staff treat teachers they don't like, such as Lockhart and Umbridge:

...Dumbledore announcing that, unfortunately, Professor Lockhart would be unable to return next year, owing to the fact that he needed to go away and get his memory back. Quite a few of the teachers joined in the cheering that greeted this news.

The upshot of it all was that Professor Umbridge spent her first afternoon as headmistress running all over the school answering the summonses of the other teachers, none of whom seemed able to rid their rooms of the fireworks without her. When the final bell rang and the students were heading back to Gryffindor Tower with their bags, Harry saw, with immense satisfaction, a disheveled and soot- blackened Umbridge tottering sweaty-faced from Professor Flitwick’s classroom.  “Thank you so much, Professor!” said Professor Flitwick in his squeaky little voice. “I could have got rid of the sparklers myself, of course, but I wasn’t sure whether I had the authority...”  Beaming, he closed his classroom door in her snarling face.

This leads me to think that since the staff have had some opportunity to get to know Snape, even if it's superficially (given how guarded he is), their treatment of him indicates that he's not as terrible and repugnant as characters like Harry make him out to be. And while it's possible that they were deferential to him because he can be intimidating, I don't really see a bunch of talented, established Hogwarts professors cowering. After all, Umbridge had more authority than Dumbledore and even fired a staff member, but the rest of the teachers didn't seem to be affected by whether or not they were intimidated by her. They also literally took on Voldemort and his army to protect the school.

The reason Snape is able to project so much of James onto Harry is because they don't know each other outside of the classroom. This is the same reason why Harry is able to resent Snape so much. We see a chink in both their armors during Occlumency lessons in OoTP, as Harry shows curiosity and Snape encourages it, but before they can start to get a fuller picture of one another as people, Harry wrecks it by invading Snape's privacy when he goes into the pensieve. It's integral to the plot - and the big reveal at the end of DH - that these two characters maintain a resentful distance.

If Harry had been sorted into Slytherin, they would have had more of a chance to get to know each other. The same way Harry was told by other Gryffindors as soon as he started school that Snape was strict, mean, and played favorites, if he'd been sorted in Slytherin he would have been influenced by their bias in the other direction, ie. in favor of Snape (and potentially against McGonagall given the rivalry with Gryffindor). Whatever resentment Snape had against James would have had an opportunity to soften over time as he inevitably got to know Harry better.

By his fifth year Harry would have been sitting down with Snape, not McGonagall, to discuss his career ambitions, and as his head of house Snape would have known Harry enough to advise him. We see throughout the books that heads of house like McGonagall pay attention to students even if they don't interact with them all that much directly. Had Snape had the opportunity to do so with Harry, and had he been motivated by his role as his head of house to defend him where necessary, he would have gotten to know Harry as an individual enough that whatever of James that rested in Harry's facial features would have fallen by the wayside.

That's only one part of how Snape relates to Harry, though. He's vocal about James, his friends, and his hatred of them, but he never mentions Lily once. We know Snape is a guarded man who frowns on wearing your heart on your sleeve:

Well, I’m finding that hard at the moment,’ Harry snarled. ‘Then you will find yourself easy prey for the Dark Lord!’ said Snape savagely. ‘Fools who wear their hearts proudly on their sleeves, who cannot control their emotions, who wallow in sad memories and allow themselves to be provoked so easily - weak people, in other words - they stand no chance against his powers! He will penetrate your mind with absurd ease, Potter!’ ‘I am not weak,’ said Harry in a low voice, fury now pumping through him so that he thought he might attack Snape in a moment. ‘Then prove it! Master yourself!’ spat Snape.

So it's no surprise that he doesn't mention Lily. He protected Harry at risk to his own life for the sake of honoring Lily's sacrifice. Clearly their friendship meant the world to him and left an impact, and because it's so tied up in emotion for him, Snape never talks about it. He isn't the kind of man to show emotion willingly, as we know. He smirks, he speaks softly when angry, he hisses, and he only loses the tight grip he has on expressing his feelings when he's triggered. There's a fair bit of information on the page about his relationship with James and how he feels about it, and how much of it he projects onto Harry (though I think that diminishes significantly from OotP on, especially after Sirius' death), but nothing at all about Lily except in his very private moments with Dumbledore.

What's even less straightforward is how much of Lily he sees in Harry. I wonder whether this was intentional on the author's part, but I'm curious whether Snape might get angry when Harry sasses him and talks back because his personality is so much like his mother's. So while there isn't much to go on, I think it's interesting to consider whether if Harry had been sorted into Slytherin, Snape might not have seen more of Lily in him given the opportunity to get to know each other a bit, and whether he might not have appreciated that about him.

No one asked for this, but here's a short story on how my oc, mara, became an esper and also destroyed her face.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are proud to announce this year's 1st place winner for gyrates figure skating championship.”

The announcer's voice calls through the large ice rink. Mara's hand shake in anticipation for the announcer to finish, but the world seems to slow around her. She looks up to the crowd to try and find a familiar face, but she can't. Not that she was expecting to, as her sister, Theia was to busy to show up and her mother would only show up if her Thiea would be there too. But mara got used to performing with no one she knew watching, it was routine.

“Put your hands together for…”

*she holds her breath, it had to be her this time. She had to win. She had gotten a 28/30 from the judges, the highest out of her competition.

“Mcalya Ley!”

That's all she needs to hear for her heart to sink down.

“And second goes to… Marcilyana Perro!”

That was her. Not that she cared. Second. Again. The rest of the metal ceremony was not memorable enough for Mara to care.

“Mara! Hey! Wait up!” They call

Mara didn't want to talk. Not even to her coach. She huffs down onto the bench and begins to remove her skates and performing outfit.

“Hey, you did great. 2nd is still gre-”

“No! No it's not!” Mara shouts, chucking her skate across the room.”I've been skating for 13 years and not once have I gotten 1st place! Do you know how many performances there are!? Over 50! And not one 1st place?! You know… after like the 10th 2nd place it just becomes numbing. Like why can't I do better than a 2nd!”

“Mara please, you did great, and a second place is nothing to be getting upset about.im sure you'll do better next time.”

“There's not going to be a next time. I'm quitting. Dropping out. I'm done.”

“You can't just quit. Like you've said it's been 13 years of this you can't just give that up.”

“Ya.. Normally I'd agree with that. It's useless to give up on something I've put my whole life into…but I just can't anymore. If I can't do better than a second place then I might as well just not keep trying to. It's pointless.”

“Come now. If you quit, you're letting that old man James win.”

Jame… mara despised James. A 60 year old man that had been the Pannal judge for most of her skating career and he seemed to hold a grudge over her. He just didn't like her. Maybe it was because of the way she looked. A tall muscular woman who towers over the companion of thin petite woman in the skating industry. Maybe he hated her because he was old and had to take out his frustrations on someone and that someone happened to be mara. It didn't matter. She still hated him as much as he hated her.

“James can suck a dick. I'm done. I can't keep chasing something I can never get. I'll always be second place.” with that mara pushes up from her seat, grabbing her bag, and leaving the room and her coach behind. As she walks out of the rink she sees Mcalya. She was proud of her… she was. She didn't hold anything to mcalya. As she deserved the win, being as beautiful and gracefully as she was. Despite this there was still a ping of hate in her heart for the other girl, so mara turns her head and walks away, not congratulating her competition on the win or even staying for the after party.

As mara walks down the empty park path back to her home she passes a large pond that had not been frozen over by the cold temperatures yet. Looking down at the cold water and then to her 2nd place metal in her hand she feels another rush of anger and before she can think, she's tossing the metal as hard as she can into the pond. With a satisfying ‘plop’ the metal dives under the water never to be seen again. She then quickly turns and walks away like nothing had happened. Soon she reaches the center streets of gyrate city, its loud and busy, there are many people talking and enjoying the cool weather. Despite the loud chaos of the city, its oddly comforting, and almost peaceful. That peace was cut short at a loud crash and boom are made from the street over. It must be miromons. People begin to flee the area in panic as the monsters wreck their havoc.mara throws her bag down to the side and rushes to the site of the explosion. She was no esper, she could do nothing but watch, but maybe if she was lucky she'd get to see someone from the union up close as they take down the miromons. She comes up to a crowd of people standing behind police tape as cops try to assure everyone that this will be fine and that the union will be here soon to handle everything. She pushes her way through the crowd till she can get a good look at the scene.her eyes dart around to the large miromon, its red-ish orange could stand out amongst the gray rubble of the cafe it had destroyed. Her eyes are ripped from the monster and are put on something else. A person. Trapped between the monster and some rubble.

Her heart stops in its tracks, and her lungs can't seem to take in any oxygen as she notices the person. Her sister, Theia. She doesn't even notice she's moved until an officer stops her and speaks.

“hey where do you think you're going kid! It's dangerous, wait for the professionals”

“That's my sister! Please, you have to save her!”

“that's the espers job. Now just stand back and wait for them to get here.”

Wait? She couldn't wait. That monster would kill Theia and she would have to stand her and watch!?

She pushes past the officer, ignoring the loud yelling from him and the others as she rushes towards the monster. Her feet move faster than her brain can keep up with. the only thing on her mind was that she needed to get to her sister. To save her. The miromon lifts its drill-like hand to strike down on to Theia. Before it can make the move mara is there. She shoves Theia out of the way, putting herself in direct fire.

After that, It went black… until it wasn’t. It was a blinding light that woke her up. She's laying in an all white endless looking room. Was she dead? Was this heaven? Hell?

“you can't go. Not yet.”

A voice. One she's never heard before calls out.

“Who are you. What is ‘this’”

“who I am is not important. But you may call me Desponia.You will be my esper.”

Mara's consciousness comes back. She felt different, like something inside her had changed. She's standing in front of a lifeless miromon. She looks over to see her sister. Back over where the police are. Alive. Mara brings her hand up to her face. Her once pale hands were now fading to purple and stained red with blood. Blood. Miromons don't bleed. Why was there blood. Looking up from her hands to the broken window of the shop, she stood near. She saw it. She saw her face.

It's hard to make out. Things are blurry, visually. But her face. Her face is bloody. Reaching up to touch it, she feels nothing as her hands touch the bleeding flesh. Almost her whole face is nothing more than a wounded bloody mess.

So, Ace Race...what happened?

To give everyone a clearer, more objective view of the situation, I present: the spreadsheet. It contains a list of every player's two times and placements and who disconnected (Keep in mind there could be more, these are just the names I saw in chat join/leave).

I calculated how many places players went up or down and how their time improved. They are color coded by team, and for your convenience I put three lists next to each other: The original placements, the new placements, and what the placements would look like if the only new times you counted were the players that disconnected. (This took seven hours).

Analysis under the cut

For the record, when the first player logged off (Captain Sparklez), there was 4:30 left, when the last player rejoined (Scar) there was 4:01 left, the first person (Dream) placed with 3:28 seconds left. they stopped the game with 1:20 left. And 5up, as far as I know, didn't even rejoin until after the race was over.

Fruit brought up the issue in chat at 2:29 left (after he finished), a few others agreed with him. Oli brought up redoing it with 2:07 left. I don't know whether the admins didn't notice or didn't realize how many people actually dc'd or figured teams were equally affected, but they announced a redo at 1:44. It was tight, they made a decision in 2 minutes and 17 seconds if they noticed everyone disconnecting. Or in less than a minute if they only noticed when people talked in chat, and they did stop the game 14 seconds later.

Now for some analysis, many players dropped a few placements and felt upset about it, thinking they did worse. This leads to them becoming more frustrated with the reset. I suspected they likely didn't, it was just there were quite a few really good ace race players that got discontented (Illumina, Fruitberries, HBomb).

The vast majority of players improved their time, often by a lot. The only ones that didn't were: Dream, Sapnap, InTheLittleWood, Smallishbeans, FoolishG, Badboyhalo, and AntVenom.

To my knowledge: Dream tried and failed to copy Purpled's skip several times, Martyn had a really good run the first time/tried skips, and Ant's trident didn't work/he tried skips. Joel, Sap, and Bad's were 0-2 seconds worse. I don't know what happened to Foolish (lack of morale ?)

As to be expected, everyone who disconnected improved majorly from 45 seconds to over 1 minute and 30 seconds. Most also rose quite a few placements, but not all. And not enough to account for all the upset in the new placements, so what else?

Well, those who practiced for ace race a lot, vod reviewed, and had experience was now void of those advantages. Now, people had a fresh run, they are familiar with the movements needed, and they saw other people do skips that they can try.

Bad originally had a massive advantage because he has a unique way he practices it that familiarizes the movements to him, but that's now gone, though he only lost one second, he dropped 14 places. Hannah, on the other hand, had never played ace race in an event before. But with the reset, she did and thus performed much better, gaining 6 places.

Almost everyone got faster times, but certain people with certain circumstances were more affected by it. So players, rest assured, you probably did improve the second time around, others just improved more (others being players that were previously handicapped).

(Also Dream, yes it was at least 10 people that were dc'd, Skeppy has not played in 14 months and it was Fruit and Illumina.)

I really hope this doesn't need to be said, but DO NOT use this as a basis to harass Scott or Noxite or any of the Noxcrew. I really hope this clears up some misunderstandings and make some people feel better, not make things worse. It was a tough decision, but I think it was by far the right one. You can see for yourself how much of a difference the disconnects made. Noxcrew does a lot every month to bring us the wonderful event that is MCC, Scott made the teams we're all so fond of, they just released the closed beta of MCC Island. No, things weren't perfect or ideal, but it was out of their control. Besides, we've only had 2 MCCs out of 24 that was this level of scuffed and I think that's a pretty damn good track record.

I don't understand why pointing out the 28s in Harrys music feels like satire. There are many more examples of Harry using things in 28s that in my opinion crosses the line of being a coincidence or fandom reach. I'll give a few more examples

In Boyfriends, the first word of the song is boyfriends and it starts at 28 seconds in

On his ig, in between the 2021 and 2022 tour announcement posts, there are 28 pictures posted from the tour

In Golden, before the line I know that you're scared because I'm so open, in the official lyrics, there are 28 goldens written out. He doesn't actually sing them but in exchange the beat is hit 28 times

In sunflower vol 6, he does the same thing at the end. The little woo woo woo du du du scats are repeated 28 times

In Cinema, you got is repeated 28 times

In Grapejuice, he sings 1982, which is 28 backwards and maybe louis 91 birth year

At the spotify listening party, they gave out ONO tickets to the crowd. The tickets had 28 homes drawn on them

In the Kiwi music video, there are 29 kids but girl that's featured is dressed in the same blue suit like harry. So if she is supposed to represent harry then techically there are 28 kids

In the Late Night Talking mv, the person in blue shirt he's sharing pasta with has 77 on each arm. 7x4 =28

Am I just completely blinded by confirmation bias? I'm trying to take a step back and look at it objectively and I'm having a hard time.

Oh anon - I think you are stuck in a loop of confirmation bias and I'll try to explain why. (I haven't tried to verify any of these - except Golden, which I didn't understand or still didn't).

I think there are three basic fallacies here. The first is unfixed goal posts - where you modify what counts so it makes up to 28. The second is if you have enough of something then '28' would be expected - for example if you were driving along the more car number plates you saw the more likely it would be that '28' would appear on one of them. The third is ignoring other explanations, both for specific examples of '28', and why '28' might be a common number.

Unfixed Goal Posts

The Kiwi music video is an example of having your thumb on the scale. There were 29 kids, but you're saying one of them doesn't count. But if there had been one less kid you could have said there were 28 kids and counted that kid and if there'd been 27 kids you could have said there were 28 people, including Harry, and if there'd been 26 you could have counted Harry and the dog.

I'm not quite sure what you're arguing with Golden - the lyrics in the booklet don't have Golden 28 times. But if you're arguing that a lyric happens 28 times before a certain line - then that's definitely unfixed goal posts. If something occurs more than 28 times in a song, then you could always make the argument that something happens 28 times before a particular moment in the song.

If you have enough examples of anything 28 becomes expected

Harry has released 35 recorded songs. Why is it surprising that one of them starts 28 seconds in? Given the average and range of intros songs have - the likelihood a song where the singing starts 28 seconds in would be expected.

He has almost 600 posts on Instagram. It's hardly surprising that sometimes a certain type of post is 28 posts apart. (I think this is also an example of goal post moving).

Harry has lots of examples of songs where a short burst is repeated over and over again. It's probably more common in his song than in the wider genre. It's not a surprise that sometimes the repeats will come to 28.

Ignoring other explanations

1982 is a really significant year in wine making - in the context of a song about wine it doesn't need an explanation.

In the context of pop music, you'd expect 28 to come up more often than 25, 26, 27 or 29. A four beat rhythm is pretty central to the artform, therefore multiples of fours are more likely than any other number.

None of what you mentioned seems odd or unlikely to me anon. It all seems like the sort of thing that you would expect to happen over years of someone's career. Of course it's not impossible that 28 might mean something to Harry and some of these might be slipped in deliberately. Part of my point is that we don't know how Harry relates to numbers - and if he thinks they're important he's not telling us. But nothing about what you list sticks out as unusual or impossible - it could definitely be a coincidence.

I guess my question would be - why the certainty about these sorts of things? Why assume what Harry is meaning and doing? What's the appeal of that?

Ep 112 “Dalbang School Part 1” (Ep: 5 / KM: 4)

The ones with BTS in a classroom driving Teacher Jin insane

5:58 - JM declares that he and Taehyung will pair up (by being the first to hug each other in a game), but then when Hobi blows the whistle at 6:38, JK runs over to hug JM before Tae can get to him.

6:58 - Jin asks why JM said he wanted Tae and then hugged JK. JM explains that he didn't hug him, he just found himself in JK's hug as JK cackles in the background.

7:24 - When Jin blows his whistle at the class, JK and JM mirror each other in putting a finger in one of their ears.

7:35 - Teammates JK and JM are immediately on the same page about wanting their team name to be Kim Seokjin. There's a kind of weird moment that I fully admit I may be reading too much into where JK seems to be walking right towards JM, then abruptly stops and turns, looking at the camera, before walking with Jimin in a different direction than he had been heading. The Interview

Part 1

"Let's all give a warm welcome to Ms. Liana Summers!" Jimmy says announcing me as I make my way into the stage.

I wave and smile at the audience before taking my seat.

"Boy do we have a lot to talk about!"

I smile and nod, "Thank you for inviting me. I love your show."

"Well most people do," he laughs and I let out a small giggle, "lets start with the movie you just finished up. What was it again?"

"Oh, it was a movie called Unrequited Love. I played opposite KJ Apa. He was my characters love interest."

"Remind us what the movie was about."

"Of course, so my character her name is Daisy Smith and she's loved this boy James Porter for as long as she can remember. They're friends, super close friends but she's definitely in the friendzone. Having such strong feelings for one of her best friends puts her in a place of constant stress and jealousy. She'd never tell him how she felt because she didn't want to lose him completely. The day after James tell her," I pause looking at the audience, "about something, she starts feeling sick. Soon enough she's coughing out flower petals and feeling the effects of Hanahaki disease. Of course her parents get worried and take her to the hospital where they learn of the disease. The rest you guys are going to have to wait for."

"That sounds like such a fun role to play."

"For me it was! I love acting and when I got the call that the casting director thought I would be great for the part of course I went in and auditioned but I got cast for the part about 3 days after I auditioned. Apparently I was just what they were looking for. Then I fangirled over KJ for a little bit before actually meeting him and getting to know him. It took us three months to film the movie. KJ and I have gotten close. We FaceTime a lot and I know he's watching this so," I turn to look into the camera, "I'm watching you K man." I giggle and turn back towards Jimmy.

"You two seem very close."

"Yeah we are, it's nice to have a boy best friend again, ya know?"

"While we're on the subject, do you miss your old best friend, Grayson Dolan? A lot of people say that things got tense between you two after you and Ethan broke up."

I had to laugh, that's the only way to keep my emotions inside. That's the only way to keep myself from full out sobbing on live tv.

"Sometimes I miss them. We grew up together and they were always there for me. The thing about Ethan and I's relationship is complicated. When the three of us got popular on Vine and then YouTube, I was always shipped with them. Like the fans would want me to date Ethan or get married to Grayson. For being such close friends it didn't matter to us, we often made jokes about it. Little did anyone know Ethan and I had been dating since we were 17. I was open with the fans about the fact that I had a boyfriend. I never let them know who it was, just that he and I were together. After about three years of dating Ethan told the world that he had a girlfriend. A few months later we announced we were together. At this point we'd been together for almost four years."

"Wow that's a very long time to be dating someone. Especially when you're so young."

"Exactly. Everyone wanted us to be together until we actually came out and said we were together. At this point we were almost 21. On two previous occasions Ethan had asked me to marry him, only to take it back after a month of me wearing the ring. The second time he asked I said yes because I loved him. I truly did love him but I told him how much I wanted to marry him and have kids with him and he freaked out. I wanted kids young, I didn't want to have my first child at like 28. After he freaked out I told him we couldn't be together anymore. Not only did I compromise with him but I also pushed back what I wanted for the sake of our relationship. I couldn't keep hurting myself anymore. After we announced our break up everyone started shipping Grayson and I again. It made me think that I must've chosen the wrong twin. If I was with Grayson, we would've gotten married the first time he asked and I'd probably of had a baby by then."

"We've all heard about Grayson Dolan and his baby fever that he's had for a long time now. Do you ever see yourself getting together with him or?"

"No, I dated his twin brother. It would be too awkward. Um, after getting out of a long, serious relationship you need a break from love. A break from other people to maybe focus on yourself and see how you've grown. You need to teach yourself how to be independent again. That's exactly what I told myself I was doing when I packed up my stuff and left their house. I moved all the way to Paris. I lived there for about two years before coming back to the states."

"Had you spoken to Ethan or Grayson during those two years?"

"Grayson had messaged me quite a few times but I hadn't spoken to Ethan. I decided to pay them a visit when I moved back to LA. When I found out that Ethan was already married to another girl and she was pregnant..." I shake my head, the tears that had collected in my eyes finally falling, "I broke down. Grayson explained to me that a few days after I left Ethan had met up with Kristina Alice, who we'd know for about four years, and they hit it off and started dating. It was gut-wrenching. I had always thought he was my soulmate and to come home and find him married with a child on the way, it really hurt me. I decided to lose contact with both of the boys after that. I blocked them on social media and everything. Cut ties with their family, after I did that I realized that for the first time in my life... I was completely alone."

"How did you manage? What did you do to fix yourself?"

"I got really into my job and looking for acting opportunities. I bought myself a house and a dog. I went partying with Tana Mongeau. I really wrecked myself. Until one day I decided to get over it. Now I'm here. Happier than ever."

"Well we're all very proud of how far you've come and how you tackled your obstacles to come out the other side a better, healthier woman."

"Thank you Jimmy, I really appreciate that."

"Of course," he turns towards the camera, "stay tuned because after this we get to play some games with Liana and talk about her upcoming book, How to Love Me. Right after this break."

The camera pans towards me as I smile and wave. I do have a new boyfriend but... they don't need to know that yet.

4. “C’mere, you can sit on my lap until I’m done working.”

Based on this great interview.

“One of the main things that I want to come out strong during this campaign is education,” Ben announced to the camera attached to his computer. “I’ve worked hard to establish good schooling around Pawnee and once elected my move will be to spread that to a wider region.”

It was a typical day in the Knope-Wyatt household. The only difference was now that Ben was running for Congress he found himself doing more and more impromptu interviews, most of the times in his home office through a webcam.

Leslie was at work today, and Roz had come by to wrangle their three-year-old monsters while Ben gave his interview. All seemed to be going well so far and he answered all questions that the newscaster gave him with ease, until…

“DADDY!” A voice screamed loudly, and Ben winced. It sounded like Sonia had gotten bored of Roz and her brothers and made a break for it, making her way to Ben’s office.

Ben tried to ignore it and carry on with the interview. But then he heard the door creak open and he turned just in time to see a blonde blur bolt into the room.

“Sorry, it’s my daughter,” Ben said bashfully into the camera as Sonia raced to his side.

“Sonny, Daddy’s working at the moment, can you please go back to Roz?” he asked as kindly as he could. But his heart thumped when he saw Sonia’s tiny bottom lip start to wobble and he knew he was about three seconds away from a screaming tantrum.

“Okay, okay,” Ben quickly said and tucked his arms under Sonia’s armpits. “C’mere. You can sit on my lap until I’m done working. But you have to be quiet.”

He pulled Sonia onto his lap with ease, and she settled down instantly, playing with the pens on Ben’s desk and scribbling on a document.

“Sorry about this,” Ben said again to the interviewer, who quickly waved him off, telling him not to worry and getting back to her questions.

“You’re currently polling in first place,” Leslie said excitedly. “That’s amazing. You jumped from third to first in no time at all.”

“And we have this little lady to thank,” Ben grinned as he rubbed the top of Sonia’s hair, who was once again on his lap and fast asleep against him.

After the interview went out on TV, Ben became a viral hit. People were gushing about how adorable it was that he let Sonia come in and sit on his lap during an interview. One of his problems during the campaign was that he wasn’t seen as a typical family man, and was too cold and callous to be caring. But this interview demolished those thoughts, and people were now putting their trust in Ben.

Leslie put down her Gryzzl tablet and sat down next to Ben, leaning on his shoulder and stroking Sonia’s back.

“Good job, Sonny,” she whispered to her sleeping daughter. “She’d make a great campaign manager one day.”

“She’s got some good tricks up her sleeve, that’s for sure,” Ben agreed.

“28. "I would’ve had breakfast ready, but you were sleeping on my arm, and I didn’t want to wake you,” and 58. “I don’t know what’s wrong, okay? I’m just… really tired,”

Set in the A7C universe.

A baby.

They were having a baby.

A tiny human was growing inside of Leslie right now.

Ben still couldn’t believe it. Yesterday seemed like a dream that was too good to be woken up from. All in a day he found out that he was going to be a Father and then had gotten engaged.

It was insane. But a day he would never forget.

Right now he was in pure baby bliss. Leslie was fast asleep on his arm and Ben didn’t want to wake her up. He had planned to get up and cook her breakfast in bed, but that would have to wait. She was pregnant, and most definitely needed her sleep.

Instead, his thoughts travelled backed to the past week, trying to see any signs that would have told him sooner that they were expecting.

He remembered last Thursday, when Leslie came home in a bad mood. She sulked at the kitchen table and kept snapping at Ben, who was just trying to make the situation better for her.

“Right. What’s going on? Why are you so cranky?” Ben had asked, his arms folded.

“I’m not cranky,” Leslie hissed through gritted teeth, and Ben raised an eyebrow, that eyebrow that told her to tell him what was going on or go lie down and come back in an hour after a nap.

Leslie sighed and swiped at her glassy eyes. “I don’t know what’s wrong, okay? I’m just…really tired.”

Ben smiled sympathetically. She had been working so hard on turning that disgusting pit next to the apartment complex into a beautiful park that she had worked herself into the ground. Literally. Her fingernails were caked in dirt. What the hell had she been doing out there?

“Okay, you need a bath and then snuggles in bed,” Ben said, tugging her up from the table and into the bathroom.

He remembered watching her strip in front of him after pouring her a bubble bath, complete with sweet smelling vanilla candles and a glass of wine…he immediately regretted giving her the wine, but he didn’t know at the time. How was anyone to know?

His eyes had scanned her over, like he usually did when she was standing naked in front of him. He couldn’t remember seeing any signs of a bump. But it was far too early to notice anything.  Even last night when he had kissed her belly multiple times it didn’t feel any different.

It didn’t matter right now. Nothing mattered, other than his fiancé and beautiful unborn child.

Finally he felt a shifting next to him, and Leslie turned over, staring at him groggily.

“Good morning,” Ben said sweetly. “I would’ve had breakfast ready but you were sleeping on my arm and I didn’t want to wake you. I can get started now if you want?”

Leslie didn’t say anything. Instead, Ben watched as her face turned a bright shade of green, and she covered her mouth frantically as she jumped out of the bed and towards the bathroom.

Ben blinked as he registered what had just happened. Morning sickness. Of course. It wasn’t going to be just cute baby bumps and feeling their baby kick. No, there were the worst parts of it to consider, this being one of them.

But they were happy. And even after Ben followed Leslie into the bathroom to make sure she was ok, she looked up at him with a pained smile on her face, proclaiming that morning sickness meant a healthy baby.

It was going to be a hard journey, but they’d manage.

“I think you’ll be happy to know that I’m not wearing any underwear.”

Ben turned up at Leslie’s front door with a brightly coloured bunch of flower that reminded him of the wildflower mural on the first floor. All for Leslie of course.

Tonight was the night of their first date after publicly coming clean with their relationship. Ben had resigned, and Leslie’s campaign managers had quit. But tonight none of that mattered. Because tonight they could hold hands in front of people. Ben could pull out her chair like a gentleman and they could kiss too. That was the part he was looking forward to the most.

No more secret kisses. He could grab her in front of a crowd on the street and pull her to his lips if he wanted to. He wouldn’t, of course. Be he could quite easily if he wanted to.

Leslie opened the door and her eyes lit up when she spied the bouquet of flowers. “For me?” she asked as she let Ben inside.

“Of course,” Ben smirked as he handed them to her. “Only the finest for my lady.”

Leslie grinned and hurried into the kitchen, grabbing a vase and filling it with water and then pushing several stacks of magazines off a chest of drawers, giving the flowers pride of place.

She then let Ben pull her into his arms and kiss her all over. His hands raking over her body and tugging at the fabric of the purple dress she was wearing.

“I like this,” Ben said, as his hands grazed across her stomach and chest. “Really sexy.”

Leslie blushed and tucked her hands under the lapels of Ben’s suit jacket, pulling him in for another kiss. “And I must say you are looking pretty handsome too, Mr Wyatt,” she said after they pulled away.

“Why thank you,” Ben grinned, placing one last kiss on her neck before pulling away, earning a whine from Leslie.

“I wish we could stay here all night, but we have dinner reservations to make,” Ben said, handing Leslie her coat and opening the door again.

“Alright,” Leslie said, pulling on her coat and making her way towards the open door. She then paused, and peered back over her shoulder at Ben. “Oh. One more thing. I think you’ll be happy to know that I’m not wearing any underwear.”

Ben’s boner was practically instant.

Nobby: I'm really happy that Marco's here with me today for the return of the second half of the season. He has already announced that it's gonna be a close game of Goal or No Goal today. You're very well prepared, you have watched the last 600 goals of Borussia Dortmund.

Marco: (laughs) I asked Fritz. He knows practically everything.

Nobby: Fritz... that's your Phone-A-Friend lifeline, isn't he?

Marco: That'd be a good idea...although... he can't see the screen... or we do it via facetime but I don't know if he has facetime...

Nobby: (laughs) Or if he knows how to use it.

Marco: Or if he knows how to use it, right...

Nobby: Well, Marco, you had to be patient for a long time. Since the end of November you're back. How was the time before that and how do you feel now?

Marco: Of course that period of time was though. I was really impatient, I'm already an inherently impatient person and it was hard to just sit in the stadium each time and not being able to help the team but I stayed patient and worked really hard for my comeback and I'm working even harder now in order to stay fit and improve a bit.

Nobby: There was a moment of shock against Bremen. I was in front of my tv thinking "Please... not the leg!" You thought you could go past him somehow but then Drobný still hit you hard. You could see it on tv for a second, that looked really deep and severe. But we're glad you got off lightly because we need our Marco, especially against Mainz.

---INTERLUDE---

Nobby: You scored ten goals against Mainz. There's no opponent against which you scored more goals.

Marco: That's nice!

Nobby: Is there anything like a favourite opponent?

Marco: (sighs, starts thinking)

Nobby: (laughs) I can already see that you don't think about such things.

Marco: Not much to be honest. But um yeah... why should the stats lie? Of course, I'd be happy if things continue like this but we obviously know that it's tough, especially in Mainz, that we've always struggled in the last few years and that it has always been a close call. There have always been a lot of tackling and I think it won't be any different this time. It's important that we're focused right from the very first second and...

Nobby: Mainz is just very disciplined. Always.

Marco: Yes absolutely! Especially on home ground they're very disciplined, they stay in their formation particularly during pressing and we have to try to find a good solution.

Nobby: Coming back to Bremen: Apart from your 'souvenir' that you brought back home it was a successful start of the year 2017. What lessons do you draw from such a game?

Marco: We didn't do too well, especially in the second half where we have been outnumbering them for quite a while already. Defensively as well as offensively. But you basically never know how you'll do after the winter break. We talked about a lot of things and you couldn't get much of a glimpse of what we practised but the win is what's most important right now. We had a few weeks to get ready and to practise the things we weren't able to practise because a lot of us had been injured. I think we'll be able to show some sort of defensive stability in Mainz and offensively we always have the potential to score a goal.

Nobby: My next question would've been: What's crucial in Mainz. Certainly making sure to keep a clean sheet and then score a goal with our fast strikers.

Marco: Well, not only. It takes eleven, especially for defending, that's just the way it is. Generally speaking we always want to keep a clean sheet and keep it tight and do well defensively but sometimes the opponent just does it really well. But I think it's on us and if we live up to our potential for 90 minutes which so far, we haven't managed that often and which it's about time for then we'll hopefully win this game.

Nobby: I completely agree.

Nobby: Auba is back! I think you are particularly happy about that. You two are very good friends. Was he sad because he 'got kicked out so early'?

Marco: Yeah, of course. I think he was the hope of his nation, especially because they hosted the tournament. He really hoped to get really far, I know that and yeah... they haven't lost a single game but they also haven't won one and that's tough. But I think he could 'shoot out' his frustration during training yesterday. Obviously we're happy he's back and that he's ft and healthy and now we hope he'll gain back more of his confidence and that he'll help us.

Nobby: Were you in contact during the tournament?

Marco: Yeah sure! We talked via facetime and I wrote him after his elimination.

Nobby: I think that's important. You're friends!

Marco: Of course. But Auba is robust mentally and has already experienced some things so...

Nobby: We're sad, obviously. Neven is going to Köln on loan for half a year, Adrian's farewell is also official. What are you going to miss about these two?

Marco: They were go-to guys for the team. Adrian was a really funny guy, really kind...

Nobby: Everyone says that.

Marco: Yes he's... Adrian is just Adrian. He's so kind and very calm. We've always called him "Little Diabolo". So I think I will still be in contact with him and it's the same with Neven. He's been here for years and has celebrated a lot of things. In the end it's his decision and we hope that he'll get back to 100% fitness play in Köln.

Nobby: That's understandable.

Marco: Yes absolutely! Every football player wants to play football and if it doesn't work out in one club you'll have to look for other alternatives to get match practice.

Nobby: Auba is going to get his prize (BVB goal scorer of the year 2016) next week. You can congratulate him into the camera.
