thank you for the tag @mppmaraudergirl and @pottinglilies 🤍
i have been neglecting my tumblr mentions/tags/asks as i struggle with my delete button so forgive me for being awfully late to the trend.
rules: list the first lines of your last 20 stories (or all, if fewer than 20). see if there are patterns. choose your favourite, and tag some people to take part.
1. from A Misstep of Fate: “Oft.” The cords crossed into the corset were pulled tighter as Mrs Baggins pulled at them.
2. from Controlled Addiction: She ran her fingers along the top of the door frame, stretching on her toes to be able to just reach.
3. from Trackside: “Would you stop sulking?” The annoyed tone in her friend's voice makes her sit a little straighter in her seat and she pushes her hair off her shoulder.
4. from That Moment: “I’ll…” She cleared her throat and tried to swallow the lump that had gathered as she had watched him fly, “I’ll help you out.”
5. from I Like That You Get Jealous: “James, would you stop touching things,” She keeps an eye on the shop assistant and her carefully picked out Christmas gifts while trying to swat James’ hand from a nearby shelf, “You’ll break something.”
6. from You're The Only One I Trust To Do This: The idea of hiding from it all is both appealing, and terrifying to them.
7. from Come Over Here, And Make Me: With tea clutched in her hands, the steam still rising, Lily leant against the door frame to survey the efforts of James and Sirius closely, “James, watch where you’re putting the paint, would you?”
8. from Is There A Reason You’re Naked In My Bed?: The pure stench of firewhiskey in the air had him coughing almost immediately after walking into the head dorms.
9. from You Heard Me. Take. It. Off: The estate is still, the sun threatening to rise to the east, and James knows they’re pushing it.
10. from Careful: She always warned him to be careful.
11. from A Friendly: As the crowd emptied from the stands, she lent against the barrier separating the pitch.
12. from Drowning: “James Fleamont Potter.” The mattress dips as she leans toward the half of his face that isn’t buried deep into his pillow.
13. from Ghosts: The shouting had become nothing but whispers while the darkness of the room with the archway illuminated from more then the flashing lights of spells flying.
14. from Pickles: Her body slams forward. The dash lights up, her hands fly to the wheel, bracing herself.
15. from An Addition Makes Four: James had been gone just over three months now.
16. from Sometime Between Midnight and Morning: A heavy summer mist lay low over the quiet grounds of Potter Manor.
17. from Wait A Minute. Are you Jealous?: The dress was too tight for his liking.
18. from Teach Me How To Play?: The old family house was too large, too quiet.
19. from Have You Lost Your Damn Mind?: She hadn't left them for long.
20. from an unnamed WIP: “I like your singing,” The boy says, catching her completely off guard and causing a shiver to trail her spine.
wow, they're all over the place. but, a pattern i see is setting... whether it be an action that indicates where they are or a description of the weather... i dunno, yes? maybe?
(i also realise i hate them all, so this exercise gave me no confidence whatsoever in my own writing, lol)
<tagging @tumbledfreckles @arianatwycross @theesteemedladydebourgh @emeralddoeadeer and anyone else that needs a procrastination activity and wants to do this... or not ehehe>
