So I remembered the existence of the rockabye musical, which is a musical involving eldritch horror free to watch on YouTube, that sound familiar? Yeah the venn diagram between Hatchetfield fans and Rockabye fans should be a circle and I’m disappointed it’s not. (Here’s the link btw go watch it)

A more detailed explanation of the plot is that this band gets hired to write a lullaby to put an eldritch god to sleep so it wont wake up and end the world in the process (I believe the musical uses the lovecraft mythos or some parts of it? Idk im rewatching it tomorrow it’s late at night rn) the musical has a diverse cast and some pretty good songs.

Anyway the point is that I’m picturing a post TGWDLM Paulkins animatic to the song Crazy for You from Rockabye (link to the song) so here’s me going through the lyrics, explaining why they fit and a bit about how I picture this animatic (under the cut because this is about to be a long post) also Rockabye spoilers under the cut

Okay so the song’s a duet between two characters named Xander and Simon, Xander’s lyrics will be used for Paul and be in blue, Simon’s lyrics will be used for Emma and be in green. Lyrics they both sing will be in purple (not because of lord in black associations I just needed some colors). In Rockabye this song takes place when the characters have entered some Black and White like dimension, I’m comparing it to the Black and White because I genuinely don’t remember the name right now. Being in the dimension is driving the characters a little crazy, this is why Xander is falling for Simon. Simon seems unaffected by the dimension but it’s kind of implied he’s actually gained the ability to see the audience. Now onto me being insane

Some love can be so mundane / enthralling can fade to plain / simple romance is so easy to obtain

This to me could be infected!Paul/Pokey calling Emma and Paul’s relationship boring/plain/simple, Paul is known as the normal tm man afterall.

I feel like this is pretty self explanatory. A lot of it is reminiscent of how the hive describes infection, changing someone’s perspective and making reality clear feel like actual things a hive member could say in the show. Also infected!Paul calling his love infectious, do I even have to explain that.

What cute things to say to your significant other 🥰 I mostly want to talk about the last two lines, “you’ll see in time” as in it being inevitable and then “the monster that lies beneath” referring to Pokey. Maybe Paul breaks a little when he says that last bit, mainly to lead into the next verse

I can feel you crawling under my skin / my composure is running thin / pain is pleasure if your willing to give in

First line Paul is freaking out a little, maybe he’s not fully infected and kind of snaps out of it. While I think in the actual musical “you” refers to Simon I think Paul would be talking about Pokey here and not Emma for obvious reasons. Next line Emma starts to sing and immediately panics realizing she’s being taken over, Paul is back to infected mode says the next line as some twisted way to comfort her. (Also it’s worth noting in the cast recording Xander’s actor laughs after saying that line which I feel like Pokey would do in that situation)

Chorus again. Emma is singing with Paul now but she isn’t fully infected yet. Paul doesn’t snap out of it temporarily this time. I should mention that now “monster that lies” could have a double meaning in this situation cause Pokey tricked people in order to infect them.

After this Xander asks Simon to dance with him and there’s an instrumental part. Back to the lyrics

This is hopeless, how am I to fix this now (your blood pumping through my veins) / show is over take your bow (my skin plastered to your face) / we’re screwed we’re dead (the beating organs we discarded turned to waste)

The two sing different lyrics overlapping, lot to unpack with this one. In the original musical Simon is talking to the audience here. Emma is processing that the infected have won and that things are over, “show is over take your bow” is A. A really fitting thing to say in a musical apocalypse. And B. Would fit the fact that Emma starts to see the audience at the end of TGWDLM much like Simon does in Rockabye. Then for Paul “your blood pumping through my veins” could be referring to how they become one through the hive mind or how Pokey is taking over their bodies “the beating organs we discarded turned to waste” is how when they are apothesized into the hive mind they die, discarding their beating organs, and how the infection literally replaces your organs and blood with blue ones. I picture at the last line Emma is panicking and Paul snaps out again for a second looking kind of horrified about what’s happening before becoming all smiley again

So, after waking up after a shift & having another one tonight, I realized a few things…

1) I really miss my seasonal haunt job

2) I really miss spooky season

3) since I���ve never before in my life written a fanfic, or any type of writing that included conversation aside from quotes in essays, I might be better off writing possibly the most self-indulgent BS ever as practice (NOT instead of!!!)

Plus it would give any feral readers some advice, as much like myself, some of y’all are probably decent at analyzing other’s writing. Even if you’re not tho or don’t think you are, when I finally (probably within the week) start posting chapters, I welcome all advice! Just… please, remember I’ve NEVER done this before, so it’s probably gonna be a little bit all over the place and kinda rough.

Summary- you want a seasonal job, (subject to change, considering Fazbear DID try to make a whole haunt attraction with no indication that THAT was seasonal… or maybe I will simply ignore the fact that time is a thing that passes. Who knows.) so after moving you apply at the local haunt. Shenanigans, shitty customers, some animatronics are there, notably two jesters. What could go wrong? (Probably not much, this is for me to indulge & my indulgences are very relaxed)

Similar to the last offering- we will be wooing the jesters, some friends to lovers perchance (we completely ignore the general advice to never date a fellow haunt actor, which exists bc at heart even if not in reality almost all haunt actors are theater kids and that leads to drama) aaaand idk.

I just wanna be a haunt actor rn instead of my typical job, and I DESPERATELY need practice before I dive into a more proper, structured fanfic.

This is gonna be cringe. It’s gonna be goofy. It’s gonna be wordy bc I need practice on… NOT, being INCREDIBLY over explanatory. It’s not that I think my readers are dumb, it’s that I got that tism in me and I over analyze and over explain EVERYTHING.

But!!! If you’ve ever been curious about how being a haunt actor works, what it’s like, etc. then you’ll know how it works (at least from my experience) intimately well.

That being said…

I’ll be doing some research on other haunts for more location ideas, bc while Sun & Moon are pretty easy (EVERYWHERE has clowns. Can’t have a haunt without clowns) the others might give me some trouble… but I also REALLY want to include them, not just bc they’re awesome but also bc it would be good practice for my other fanfic, so I can get a general idea on how I want to write them…

I know my haunt had a more “country” attraction, and Monty’s backstory seemed to portray him as more of a rural gator… but idk. Maybe the difference from his attraction vs his true/current personality is workable tho.

My haunt also had a… food focused, of sorts… attraction, where ofc it would be easy to put Chica…

But WTF do I do with Roxy? Or Freddy???

i think mlvns bought the monologue just because they completely throw out and ignore all the context behind it. they think "oh well he said it so it MUST be the truth" and they disregard all the canon information and events that were given to us leading up to the monologue.

LIKE:

mike avoided saying he loved her or writing "love" in his letters to her even tho she had been saying she loved him for months. he didn't say it or write it and he made her feel unloved for MONTHS.

when confronted about never saying he loved her, he acted like he had something to hide. he got defensive and insulted her and tried to blame other people and change topics. he never insinuated to her or to the audience that he does love her.

he admitted to will TWICE that he felt like he should have just told her what she wanted to hear or should have "explained himself" JUST SO she wouldn't have left him behind. not because he would have meant it or because that is how he actually feels for her. no he was fully preparing himself to tell her what she wanted even if he didn't mean it just so she wouldn't leave his ass.

it was heavily implied that mike is scared to tell el the truth about his feelings towards her because he thinks she won't like the truth. el wanted him to love her ... he thinks she won't like the truth ... pretty self explanatory.

he is scared of losing her and scared of her not needing him. he wants to be important enough to her or at least be able to offer her something she needs or wants just so she won't leave him.

mike could only say he loved her when her life was on the line, when will was pressuring him into saying something to help her, and after being reminded of will's speech in the van (where mike was under the impression that el does need him romantically)

things he said in the monologue directly contradict what we saw leading up to the monologue AND from past seasons. there were noticeably detectable LIES.

like ... idk about yall but none of that to ME seems like mike is in love with el. to ME it seems like mike is aware he isn't in love with el and doesn't know how to tell her. and he cares about el so much and he doesn't want to lose her so instead of telling her the truth, he is willing to try and give her whatever she wants or needs (which he thinks is his love) even if it can't be given genuinely just so he can keep her in his life and make her happy. like he cares about her SO much and is so scared of losing her that he's willing to force himself into "loving her" and into giving her what she wants/expects from him if it means he won't lose her/she won't leave him. he's willing to live a lie to make her happy and to keep her. and that is born from (as other people before me have said) his trauma and guilt over her fake death in s1 and this borderline unhealthy attachment he has formed to her over the years. THAT is what it seems like to me.

so i can never view the monologue as a genuine declaration of love. i can only view the monologue as something depressing. because mike is having to lie just so he won't lose el. he is feeling pressured into loving her and into giving her what she wants. it's sad as fuck.

he was probably bi. My friend who i worked with at a record store went out to dinner with him and some band mates and Jeff had some drinks and came on to him. I also knew of a couple of his girlfriends in NYC. He was probably like many people open to many things. That's all I will say.

Then there's this long spiel:

I’m late to the party but I went down a hole with this last year after I too listened to ‘Dream of you and I’ and was like that felt very personal and astute for someone everyone seems to assume is het. I’m a queer person and have always strongly identified and loved his music but besides just my personal opinion that many of his songs have that ~queer energy~ and coding in them I did find a couple of less subjective things. Unfortunately none which lead to solid answers but might make other queer people like me feel happy and satisfied with what we are seeing in him (people who are die hard 'he could never be gay blah blah he’s had all these gfs' are never going to come around but for the rest of us it might be enough).

Unfortunately I can’t find the original articles from which the quotes are pulled for more context but for the most part... idk if we really need it. Feels to me like the author saw how he was being memorialised (perhaps knew him personally idk) and didn’t want this part of him to get lost. Here are the quotes in the event that article disappears one day too...

The article also mentions Judy Garland's jacket which he wears on the cover of Grace. Which would be my second obvious clue that he’s not a straight man. Idk how much you know about Judy but she was very much an icon in gay male circles at the time and prior - you can look that up if you’re unfamiliar and find plenty of info. He’s spoken about the jacket and other people have spoken about elsewhere too, you could look for more of that if you’re curious.

More directly from Jeff and related to his music is the Last Goodbye video which includes a clip of two men kissing. Pretty self explanatory. Whole video is pretty homo romantic tbh. Can’t imagine the record label was stoked about that if they didn’t even like the jacket. I imagine he would have had to fight to put that in which... why would you do that if you were straight?

Next I found some random forum thread (https://www.datalounge.com/thread/16719162-jeff-buckley) plenty of trolls and people being like no he’s straight and offering no real commentary but also some people who agreed. One gay guy who met him had assumed he was gay and didn’t find out he had a gf till after his death.

I feel like there was one more but I didn’t write it down and I can’t see it just flicking through the book again sorry - if I remember I’ll come back and add it next time I read it. There are other things in the book that also made me think he was queer but they were more subtle. Those are the two things that explicitly mention queerness. There’s also plenty in the book where he writes about sexual attraction to women or alludes to relationships with women so before someone comes at me about not acknowledging that - here I am. I will say though people who are gay have relationships with people of the opposite sex when they’re working themselves out, doesn’t make them any less gay. Also he could be any other variation of queer and be having relationships with people of any and all genders and identities.

You can read into all his lyrics or things he’s said in interviews or his general demeanour or whatever it is you want to. I could keep linking to what I recognise as queer coded but some of it’s more subjective and the rest of it is just too nuanced to try to articulate or argue on the internet.

Sentiment is basically that it’s very likely that he was gay or queer but that it was the 90s and that he grew up in the 70/80s - a time when being gay and out was not something one could comfortably or safely do much of the time. Especially not as a public figure. He was also very young, which unfortunately means maybe he never got to fully realise or authentically live out his queerness. Which really adds another layer of tragedy to his death if I’m honest.

If he was alive today with the evolution of queer language and general understanding we have now who’s to say how someone like Jeff - who was so obviously and openly in touch with his feminine side - would describe his gender identity let alone his sexuality.

Each to their own but if you’re queer and see yourself and your community reflected in him I don’t think anyone can accurately or definitively tell you otherwise.

It's all subjective opinion and an unsubstantiated claim imo...I don't think he was, but, as also claimed, "people that want to insist' won't be convinced otherwise...The Last Goodbye video...they seem to forget, or don't know, the part that involved Merri was inspired by Jean Cocteu who was, if the blurb I read is correct, gay... perhaps that was included to reflect that? Or maybe something similar was in something related to him that inspired? Who knows? They were also friends of her's, maybe she wanted them to be in it for whatever reason. They also miss a crucial thing: Jeff, to me anyway, did not think along lines, and may have acted in ways perceived as gay (hence being called so as a kid), but didn't think of it as being "gay" or "not gay", he just did whatever came, it doesn't necessarily mean he's gay...also, what they take as "codes" may not actually be (and people, please don't @ me, this is only my opinion and impression... ok so the tags do seem confusing but they’re actually pretty simple (i’m gonna talk abt this through the lens of searching for fics btw)

so when u click on a tag and click filter (which is normally how i look for fics) the filters are split into 3 sections

include, exclude, and more options. and if u look at them they have subsections, the subsections for include and exclude being the same, and i’ll explain what the subsections are below

so this is ratings. all of the filter tags thingys are sorted by how many fics there are tagged/rated like this in this tag, in this case i clicked on the Stranger Things fandom tag and that’s the results (don’t think i rlly need to explain what the ratings mean or anything). when including stuff u can only select one (obviously) but u can filter out multiple

next is the warnings, all fics r required to have at least one but u can add multiple. think these r all pretty self explanatory except underage which either means underage sex or underage SA (or possibly smthn more broad but i’m pretty sure it’s one of those, more certain that it’s underage sex in general) also no warnings and creator chose not to use warnings are 2 different things, if something is tagged creator chose not to use warnings then it could mean it has major character death or violence or whatever but the author didn’t wanna add a warning for some reason so be sure to check the tags.

next is categories, this is about the different kinds of relationships in it. for f/f, f/m, and m/m f stands for female and m stands for male so they’re about sapphic, straight, and achillean relationships respectively. gen means no romantic/sexual relationships and multi means there r multiple kinds of relationships (e.g a fic where one of the relationships in the fic is lesbian while another is straight). other i think is just for stuff that doesn’t rlly fit in any of the other categories, like for example if it was [character]/gn reader (put a pin in the / we’ll come back to it later)

up next is fandoms. now from here on all the things that show up in the filters aren’t the only options, they’re just the top 10. i don’t rlly have anything to say on this bit so i’ll just move on.

next is characters, if u want a character to be in the fic ur reading u can filter in their tags. don’t rlly know what else to say on this other than again these r only the top 10 and i’ll talk abt a way u can search for others in a minute.

next, relationships. if u want/don’t want a certain relationship to be in the fic u can filter them here. also remember how i told u to put a pin in that /? well yeah this is very important to remember: a / between 2 characters is a romantic or sexual relationship and an & is a platonic/familial/etc. relationship. srsly u don’t wanna mix them up.

and last in the include/exclude section is additional tags. this is for just everything that would be tagged that isn’t any of the other stuff. like any AUs, if it’s got smut/angst/fluff/whatever, any extra warnings that weren’t in the big warnings section (e.g a suicide attempt or homophobic language), if it’s a smut the specifics about what kinda stuff they’re doing, etc.

but we aren’t completely finished in this section because we still have:

this thing is just what u would use if a tag u wanted to read/block wasn’t in the top 10 of their category of this tag. u can just type it in here and it’ll probably come up but if it doesn’t u can just press enter and it’ll still work.

and that’s all for include/exclude but there’s still more options so i’ll get into that

first is crossovers. pretty self explanatory, exclude crossovers means all fics that come up will only have one fandom, show only crossovers will include only fics that have multiple fandoms, and include crossovers shows both.

completion status. completion status is (obviously) about whether a fic is complete or not. if a fic’s chapter count is like this: 7/7 it’s complete, if it’s like this: 7/16 or 7/? it’s not, and the filtering is pretty self explanatory.

word count. if u want to read something idk shorter with a quicker payoff or longer with more content or whatever reason u can filter the word count. how it works is for example if u put 7000 in the “from” area and 20,000 in the “to” area all the fics would have 7000-20,000 words.

date updated. if u don’t wanna read fics from before/after a certain date u can put the date into this and filter it (e.g i recently watches itsv and wanted to read abt my boy Miles but haven’t yet watched atsv so i put atsv’s release date into the “to” section so none of the fics would have spoilers).

and finally there’s this thing which i honestly have no idea how to use so yk.

there’s also a way to filter only one language in incase u don’t wanna be scrolling and find a rlly good fic only to find out it’s another russian fic or whatever and a way to change what order fics come in (latest updated first, latest posted, most kudos, etc.)

Theorizing about Korina’s mother because yes (long post)

So, the mystery of who Korina’s mother is has been around since OoO and has yet to be solved at the time of writing this. It seems like we might get an answer this week (?) so I thought I’d throw all of my theorizing out in the open before the reveal.

Information we have on Korina’s mother:

Light blue eyes and blue hair with stars - It has been pointed out multiple times how Korina bears a very strong resemblance to her mother, and Thanatos put emphasis on her eyes and hair. She clearly doesn’t get those features from Morpheus, so it’s safe to assume that they’re from her mother.

Association with stars / the night sky - Her hair has stars in it, the star orb in Morpheus’ library appears to be a gift from her, Thanatos describes her as having a “reach that extended beyond the stars”, and when Korina’s mother talks to her through her dreams the background is the galaxy (very distinct from Korina and Thanatos’ white void dreamscape and Mors’ black void dreamscape).

Wings (but it’s complicated?) - Thanatos mentions that it is strange how Korina didn’t get wings considering that both of her parents have them. When Korina asks if her mother has wings, he says “It’s complicated”. We also have no clue on what they could look like, so they might be feathered, butterfly/other insect wings, bat wings, or something more abstract.

Not a mortal - For the above reasons, it’s safe to assume that Korina’s mother isn’t a mortal (at least, not fully). Of course, the possibility of her mother being a demigod or legacy still can’t be ruled out.

Unknown whereabouts - self-explanatory

Information that may not be relevant but is still interesting:

Height (this one is also kinda weird) - Thanatos at the beginning of the series describes her as small and says that Korina will probably end up being taller than her. More recently, when commenting on how tall Korina has gotten, he says that it “must be her mother’s blood”. So either Korina’s mother is just small in a family of giants or somethin else idk

She has a pretty decently high alcohol tolerance, much more so than Morpheus apparently

She has light magic, which Korina ends up inheriting. It is noted that both she and Morpheus were never one for fighting.

Had chronic back pain that may or may not be related to her wings (and if Korina’s pain is anything to go off of, it may have eventually evolved into full body pain)

So with all this info laid out, let’s list potential candidates. I’m gonna be assuming that her mother is a god for this, though if we want to go with the demigod/legacy idea we can consider them descendants from this list of gods. Other pantheons such as the Norse and Egyptian ones have been mentioned, so all pantheons are on the table. Listed from who seems least likely to who seems most likely.

Citlalicue (Latin American creator goddess associated with stars, “Star Garment”)

She is associated with the Earth, stars, and Milky Way, which lines up with the associations with the stars

She is also associated with death and darkness, which ties into Korina’s relationship with Mors

Different pantheon could explain her absence

There is no mention of her having wings, and there is just very little concrete information on her in general

Tala (Tagalog goddess of stars, “Bright Star”)

Tala is involved with the creation of the stars and the Tagalog traditional constellation

She uses orbs of light to guide people to safety at night, which is reminiscent of the star orb that Morpheus keeps as a reminder of Korina’s mother

Different pantheon could explain her absence

There is no mention of wings and just very little information on her in general

Nyx (Greek primordial goddess of the night)

Nyx is the embodiment of the night, which ties back to the stars

She is also always depicted with wings

The big problem with this one is the awkward family dynamic. Nyx is the mother of Thanatos and mother/grandmother of Morpheus in the myths. In Korina’s Origin, they have a brotherly bond and are stated to have no blood relation. Kat herself has said that she doesn’t plan on introducing Nyx anytime soon because of how complex things would get as a result, so that idea’s dead in the water.

Nut (Egyptian goddess of the night sky)

Nut is a goddess of the sky, stars, cosmos, astronomy and the universe, which ties in with Korina’s star imagery

She is also a goddess of motherhood, which ties into Korina’s altruistic nature

Another role she has is as a protector of the dead, which ties in with Korina’s relationship with Mors

While Nut being from a different pantheon would explain her absence, the Greek and Egyptian pantheons are also quite interconnected in canon, which makes interactions between the two fairly plausible

Nut has never been depicted with wings as far as we know

She is also commonly associated with cows, which Korina has so far not been associated with. However, demigods in OoO don’t always take after all of their parents’ traits so it is still plausible

Astraea (Greek goddess of Justice, “Starry Maiden”)

She fulfils the requirement of wings and association with stars

Her role as a goddess of justice and the personification of the Virgo constellation ties into Korina’s altruistic and at times innocent personality

Something interesting to note is that Korina means “maiden” and Astraea is referred to as “Starry Maiden”.

However, she is a virgin goddess and as such would probably not have had children as a result. Also, one of her most prominent myths involves her leaving Earth to return to Olympus, so the gods should know of her whereabouts. Despite these being prominent traits in the original myths, they may still have changed them in Korina’s Origin or even used them as the reasons for her absence.

Asteria (Titaness of falling stars and nighttime divination)

Asteria is a goddess of falling stars, which ties in with the star association

She is known for transforming into a quail, which would give her wings and put Thanatos’ “It’s complicated” line into context

The “nighttime divination” part of her skillset refers to oneiromancy, or in short, prophetic dreams, which ties in with Korina and Morpheus’ abilities. In one source I found she is referred to as the “Queen of ghosts” which could tie into Korina’s relationship with Mors and Thanatos, though I don’t know how “canon” this can be considered.

The big elephant in the room comes once again from her most prominent myth. According to the myth, she transformed herself into an island with no way to move or transform back as far as we know. Again, this might be used as the reason for her absence.

Now that we’ve covered possible candidates, let’s talk about possible reasons as to why Korina’s mother is out of the picture:

Death has automatically been ruled out. - If she was dead, Thanatos would know about it but it’s been well established that even he doesn’t know where she is.

Living in another pantheon or realm, such as the human realm, making a conscious decision not to return to the gods for one reason or another

Trapped / Imprisoned by an outside force

It’s an Elfilin / Elfilis situation or a Brypu kids situation - Basically, Korina is her mother or a part of her mother’s soul made into a completely new person via magical means.

This post has gone on for long enough and I think I’ve gone over all of my thoughts and theories, so I’ll come back with a follow up to this whenever the big reveal happens.

Complete Midnights Gaylor Lyric Analysis

Okay so there’s a lot to unpack and I haven’t done an in-depth analysis in a really long time so please forgive me!

To the best of my ability I’m going to analyse the lyrics of every song, and then another day I’ll analyse the 2 music videos. Please be patient with me ❤️

1. Lavender Haze:

I think this is really self-explanatory. As we all know a ‘lavender marriage’ is a bearding agreement between two people. Within this song Taylor talks about the comfort of a lavender relationship, as it gives her freedom to live her life without scrutiny. However, in a heteronormative society people ‘only see a one night or a bride’- essentially to be married, or date around and be endlessly slut shamed for it. They want her to marry Joe, which is the ‘1950s shit they want from me’ which I assume she doesn’t want to do if she doesn’t have to. ‘They’re looking at my history’ AKA they’re comparing this relationship to her others, how long they dated for and if there was a ‘proposal’ e.g. Calvin and Tom being her two most serious ‘relationships’

2. Maroon

I think hetlors have quickly come to conclusion this is about Tom Hiddleston very quickly, which is funny because this is very clearly about Karlie.

I would very easily categorise this as a kissgate song. The song uses she/her pronouns throughout.

9. Bejewelled

Firstly, the music video is gay as the cows come home.

The building she enters in the video remarkably looks like the one in the Good Girl fragrance advert.

10. Labyrinth

I think this song is sonically very inspired by Imogen Heap. It seems to be very much inspired by anxiety and longing. It’s about being scared to fall in love.

11. Karma

This song is EXTREMELY queer coded.

‘Karma is a cat sitting in my lap because it loves me’ is a euphemism for pussy, obviously.

12. Sweet Nothing

A controversial opinion from me, but the way this song sounds like a nursery rhyme and the lyric ‘The pebble that we picked up last July’ I honestly think Taylor considers Levi to be her son. More proof to support this is in the Anti-Hero music video where Taylor hypothesises she’ll have two sons, which is oddly specific. I think having a Kushner baby to monopolise on that money, power and influence is a great way to ‘get the castle’ in the end. Just a theory, don’t drag me for it. ‘Dancing in your Levi’s’ is a very specific lyric in Cardigan.

13. Mastermind

This perhaps the most gaylor song on the album. It outlines about everything was carefully crafted.

‘What if I told you none of it wasn’t accidental and the first time you saw me, nothing was gonna stop me.’ As we all know, Taylor and Karlie actually met before the Victoria’s Secret Show, at a different event. ‘I layed the ground work’ Perhaps it was always her plan to get Karlie.

14. The Great War

This is definitely about 2016. As we know politics, kimye, Karlie, Scooter Braun- it was a very dark time for Taylor.

‘Maybe it was her’ the gayest lyric ever.

15. Bigger Than The Whole Sky

This is clearly about regretting lost love, it could be about anyone- Emily, Dianna, Karlie? I don’t know.

16. Paris

This is the definition of loving in secret. It talks about staying in a hotel or in the house, but playing make believe you could be anywhere- even Paris.

Paris is a song by The 1975 also.

17. High Infidelity

Firstly, I think it’s important to mention that Zoë Kravitz was on a show called ‘High Fidelity’ which was on Disney+ where she played a queer character. I haven’t seen it yet, but I’m planning to so will look for Easter Eggs 🐣🥚

I feel like this possibly could be from Karlie’s POV ‘Storm coming, good husband, bad omen, dragged my feet right down the aisle’ is pretty on the nose. ‘You said I was freeloading, I didn’t know you were keeping count’ could refer to the fact they lived together.

18. Glitch

19. Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve

I’d like to take a moment to appreciate what a tune this is.

I honestly feel like this is about John Mayer.

Dw, I'm picking up what you're putting down. Tutorial under the cut

Ok so first get yourself a head to draw some hair on. Hair comes in many forms, and I can't make a tutorial for all of them, so I'm just gonna draw the curly hair I use most often and try to explain the basics from there.

Boom, hair. Remember that hair follows gravity, so its always going to bunch up more near the bottom if it isn't pinned up in some ways. However, curly hair resists this. Think of it like a scale from thin-straight hair to a 4C hairstyle

1A hair goes straight down, while 4C hair keeps its shape. Depending on what style your going for, the heir you're drawing will probably fall somewhere between these two. (also, if your lost, use references! They are lifesavers!!)

All this is good to know because knowing which way the hair is falling is really important in making it look natural, so keep that in mind!

Something I like to add on as a struggling Florida kid with curly hair, give it some flyaways! Curly hair gets frizzy, especially in humid weather. Adding individual strands outside of the hair's main "shape" can also make it seem more like hair and less like a helmet, which is something I used to struggle with a lot.

Next, add some bangs. This is pretty self-explanatory, but bangs can come in many shapes and sizes, so remember that when in doubt, references are your best friend!

Next, erase the forehead, and draw some lines to fill up the space. This is where knowing how the hair falls becomes really important. Think of the hair like a river or waterfall. These extra lines help the viewer tell where the water starts and ends. (idk if that makes sense but it's how I think of it sometimes :') sry)

After that, color! Lets be interesting and make this fellow a ginger

Just a note, but do NOT make this base color the color you want the hair to be. This is going your be you highlight color.

An analysis on Ranboo’s lore playlist

okay y’all first of all, ranboo has a killer taste, i love him, and second, i couldn’t resist. i’m an analyst by nature. am i looking too deep into some things? did ranboo maybe choose some songs purely for the vibe? perhaps. do i care? no. let me have my fun.

I’m gonna drop my own analysis/interpretation based on these songs but feel free do use this yourself if you want!! And also feel free to disagree/correct me on anything!! I’m not a professional musical analyst lol and I did take some inspiration from already existing interpretations for the more lyrical songs.

“Introduction to the Snow”—introduction to the album. Fitting for the playlist’s beginning, seeing the tone. It’s mostly referencing (self-imposed) isolation.

“Dream Sweet in Sea Major”—this Miracle Music’s whole album is about dreams and reality, how they clash, loneliness and the wish to be close to someone, yet still remaining isolated. Very whimsical, metaphorical, melodic, and it has this vibe as if on the edge of consciousness. I’d say it fits quite well with c!Ranboo’s general vibe. This song in particular deals with sleepwalking(ha)/being in a dreamlike state, the line between what’s real and what’s not blurred.

“The Mind Electric”—oh this one fits Ranboo extremely well. First part is in reverse, the second in normal (mirroring), and it can get quite unsettling. Like you’re not sure what’s happening with the instrumentals, many different voices. Again, very metaphorical, but to put it shortly, the protagonist is being judged for a crime they’ve committed and, in their defence, they say: “Father, your honor, may I explain, my brain has claimed its glory over me; I’ve a good heart albeit insane”. They get “condemned to the infirmary” for that, where electric shock is used on them as a form of “therapy”. As a result, the protagonist loses grip on reality and themselves and truly does go insane. They beg for mercy and sympathy, but there’s no one to help them. “Someone help me; Understand what's going on inside my mind; Doctor I can't tell if I'm not me”—need I say more, really?

“Live and Let Die”—the phrase “live and let die” means to live your life how you wish and let others live how they wish without interfering. At first, you live by the phrase “live and let live”, meaning you have your ideals and you try to change the lives of others according to them, but as life progresses, you stop caring as much/try to distance yourself from others’ business.

“Turn the Lights Off”—dreams and nightmares. Mildly foreboding yet energetic. The actual meaning is about growing up (transition from childhood to adulthood), but we can take some other interpretations that’d fit with Ranboo’s character better. This Tally Hall’s album deals with differences, black and white, and how there shouldn’t be a divide between them. In this song, there are some noteworthy lines that I’d like to mention:

- “Bend the nightmare, you control it; Artful dodger, easy does it”—lucid dreaming, you have to be careful with it so as to not lose control.

- “Shut the closet, get under the covers”—you’re afraid of something and instead of facing it and seeing whether there even is something to be afraid of, you hide.

- “Turn the lights off”—confront your fears. It can also mean that in the dark, there’s no differences between people, going back to the album’s meaning.

- “And everybody wants to get evil tonight; But all good devils masquerade under the light”—this could mean that everyone has a darker part of themselves but those who actually indulge in their dark tendencies do so in plain sight by pretending to be someone else.

“Ruler of Everything”—the main theme here is time and how it’s the “ruler of everything”; time doesn’t matter about where it goes, and it will never stop. The second verse is most interesting to me—there are two singers, man and time, but for the sake of interpretation let’s just see it as two voices. One is obsessed about being liked, fitting in, constantly asking for reaffirmation (“Do you like how I walk? Do you like how I talk?”), while the second criticizes the first (“You practice your mannerisms into the wall”). They argue—”I’ve been you, I know you, your facade is scam; You know you’re making me cry, this is the way that I am”. The second is calling out the first for not being honest to himself. Tone is lighthearted but with an edge of unease.

“Merry-Go-Round of Life”—from Howl’s Moving Castle soundtrack. The title’s self-explanatory, I’d say.

“Killer Queen”—this one’s a harder one to interpret in regards to Ranboo lol. The song is about, based on an interview with Mercury, a high class woman that likes to indulge in her various desires (mostly sexual). I would doubt that’s what Ranboo was going for, so! Perhaps about a person that has no regards for their reputation and instead does whatever they feel like it? They have a certain image but still act however they like. Yeah, not too sure about this one :’) But that’s what I’ll go with for my later analysis.

“Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked”—quite straightforward. A person that performs bad deeds has reasons for them. Not excuses, but explanations, and you can sympathize with it. We all do “bad” things for one reason or the other, and, in the end, we’re all just trying to get by. Once again, plays into the theme of there not being a clear distinction between good and bad.

“The Bidding”—another harder one to interpret. On the surface, it’s about an auction where men are trying to sell themselves to women. They all present themselves in different images, and it’s remarked that the women care less about the date and more about the prospect of it, the pretty words. The date, actually, ends up being disappointing. Could be about expectations. Some men outright admit they’re assholes so whoever chooses them should know that. People can tell you what their intentions are from the start so if you end up hurt, you have no one else to blame but yourself.

“A Mask of My Own Face”—another interesting one! Unusual instruments, strong beat. They’re singing about how they have a desire to pretend to be someone else while secretly still being themselves. “I’d rob my own apartment and I wouldn’t give a damn; I’d blame it on the person that nobody knows I am”—implying they have no regard for their own livelihood and are just out to have some fun. Plus, that no one would be aware it’s all an act. “I'd wear it on Thanksgiving and I'd laugh in the parade; At all the people hissing, knowing I'm the one they hate”—they take delight in the idea of upsetting others and them not knowing it’s actually the singer that they should be hissing. “And at the big finale I would tear my face away; And smile as they grip their own and try to do the same”—everyone wears masks, and this person implies that their mask and their true self is not different from each other while others’ are.

“Stardust Crusaders”—soundtrack from Jojo. Action-packed? idk never seen it sorry lol

“I Can’t Decide”—oh, this one’s a doozy! One of the ones that do not fit c!Ranboo at all, but that’s what makes it interesting. A classic, the singer is out to have fun, very lighthearted and yet they’re singing about murder. The protagonist here is clearly mentally unwell and they’re indecisive whether they should let their enemy/toy/(up to interpretation) live or not. Some curious lines:

- “It’s not easy having yourself a good time”—in the context of the song, that “good time” implies something wicked.

- “I’m not a gangster tonight, don’t wanna be the bad guy, I’m just a loner, baby, and now you’ve got in my way”—they don’t view themselves as “bad”, however, the next two lines are paradoxal—the singer says they’re alone and yet decide to “mess around” with whoever comes up in their life.

- “No wonder why my heart feels dead inside, it’s hard and cold and petrified”—signifying lack of empathy.

- “It’s a bitch convincing people to like you”—they don’t actually want to do that and see it as a bother.

“Stranded Lullaby”—back to Miracle Musical, back to the theme of isolation. Super lyrical, super musical. They talk about how their memories float around aimlessly in their head, a sea, and may sometimes get lost. The protagonist, a sailor, is losing touch with reality and can’t tell apart what’s a dream anymore and what’s not. They question what they’re going through and why.

“Hidden In The Sand”—a song about longing, in my eyes. The protagonist sings about how “you” love things and how he wishes to love the same things, in the end admitting that “all I’ve wanted was you”. They don’t wish to be separated, they wish to have someone in their life that they could love.

“Now I’m Here”—euphoric. They sing about how they’re alive again, thanks to one specific person. I’m not gonna go too much into this one (partly because it’s a more difficult one for me again, partly because it’s Queen and I don’t wanna uhh talk nonsense on accident lol), but what I got from it is that when one one else saw them, someone did, and they made them “live again”, and now as a result the protagonist is devoted to them.

“&”—really highlights Tally Hall’s album’s theme of black and white and that there shouldn’t be a divide. The repetition of comparing opposites is present throughout the entire song (Weak & Strong & Wet & Dry…) and it’s heavily implied we should “say goodnight” to this mindset. But people love to choose sides, put things into good or bad categories. By the line “They took a lesson from their fathers” it’s implied that people don’t develop this mindset by themselves and are rather influenced by others around them. The whole album is titled “Good & Evil” and Tally Hall examines and criticizes this idea. If we keep dividing people into good and bad, eventually, we’ll all destroy ourselves.

“I’m Gonna Win”—a song about someone who’s struggling to get by. “Sometimes it can seem like a merciless dream”—life can get really hard and the protagonist wonders “what’s really worthwhile”. In the chorus, whoever, they declare that they’re “gonna win” no matter what. They might get “bloody and bruised” but they won’t give up until they “won’t be abused” and until they’re “laughing alone”. No matter how hard life/others kick them down, they’ll keep going. By the lines “It’s hard to be charming and smart and disarming; It’s hard to pretend you’re the best; It’s hard to fulfill everyone’s expectations; It’s hard to keep up with the rest” it’s implied that they find it tiresome to keep up appearances and be liked.
