I tend to say I don't really get into "actor fandoms" like some people do but I often end up watching things with actors I know from other things because other people will happily watch literally everything an actor* has been in and review them and gif them and sometimes share pirated copies of them and there's often a few things that look like they'd interest me for some other reason. Stuff I'd probably watch anyway but the social element of being in a sort-of-adjacent fandom means people will know what I'm on about when I mention them later. Like of course I will watch Natalie Dormer as Anne Boleyn, that sounds amazing. Yes, a Quatermass remake with David Tennant in it sounds grand, I shall get that on DVD for sure.
Sometimes the things the actor you know is in are bad, and that can be entertaining too. Is the genre of low-budget scifi movies with a lesser-known Star Trek actor in them still a thing?
*using 'actor' in the more modern 'gender neutral' sense btw
#i confess: i probably *would* watch kate mulgrew as mrs columbo even though i know what a blasphemous concept that series is.#this post reminded me that i really should watch Moll Flanders sometime because Alex Kingston in 18th century frocks = Hot AF.#the Still Game episode with Sylvester McCoy in feels like it doesn't count because I've seen almost all of Still Game anyway.#'give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; give a man a minor role in a star trek series and you will feed him for the rest of his life#actually the more obscure an actor is the more likely I might actually seek out all five things they'd ever been in.#because then it's weird isn't it? there's an irony to it. i can pretend i am somehow above the normie masses.#it me
