No video game series will ever piss me off more than p/ersona, because it has literally everything I love in fiction: A cast of characters where each one has a side story, hidden parts of their psyche, and harbors some kind of deep secret that tortures them every day? Character interaction in different scenarios? Exploration of different characters' psyches that look like personalized, abstract dungeons that you have to literally fight through? Exploring themes like innevability of death and different ways people cope with it or societal injustice? Tarot motifs? Use of Jung's psychological theories (which are BOGUS, but make for AMAZING addition to fictional stories)? Every element, including UI, is heavily and consistently stylized? Music that goes INSANELY hard???

Like this series should be like crack-infused catnip to me, but I just can't get into it bc Atlus always has to include something so tone-deaf and just downright DOGSHIT into these games (usually something relating to the dating system or pretty much anything relating to how they CONSISTENTLY potray queer people in their games) that I just cannot bring myself to seriously attempt to get into it 😔

hi and thank you!! so the first 2 times that smut happens in my fic i DO put a warning in the beginning notes, but overall, FROM WHAT I REMEMBER, smut happens in chaps 16 (not a sex scene tho...just some solo seb BAHHA), 23, 26, 27, and 32. there could be more im missing tho/smaller scenes i dont remember, so if you wanna be absolutely certain, you could also read it on ffnet! that site doesnt allow explicit content, so i cut the scenes out before uploading it there. (but i honestly would recommend just skimming past the smut on either ao3 or wattpad, since the ver of my fic that's on ffnet is a lot less polished/not edited💀 and sometimes dialogue happens before/after the smut, but i think i just cut it out entirely in the ffnet ver, i cant remember...) My (personal) thoughts on Jimmy Mouthwashing and how the fandom perceives him: did anyone ask for this, no, but i just wanna talk about him!

Jimmy is the most hated character in mouthwashing, and for good reason, his actions are morally wrong and what he did to Anya is just absolutely disgusting and horrible. But is Jimmy a bad character? No.

Yes he’s a bad person but thats because he’s well written, and sometimes the fandom seems to skip over all of that. There is a reason why for 80% of the game you play as Jimmy, you are supposed to feel this connection to him, you need to play as him to understand why most of the crew was able to follow him, he’s good at manipulating even the person playing.

Jimmy has so much depth to him, everything we see through his eyes is for a reason, the way we see characters through his perspective is for a reason, and thats what makes him such a great character.

Everyone tries to ignore him most of the time “oh sorry you had to draw Jimbob” or stuff like that and while it’s funny it’s not the only view you should have. Jimmy’s character is not meant to be pushed to the side, if he was you wouldn’t play the game through his eyes.

This man is smart, conniving, manipulative, and jealous of power he’s not able to handle. This is apart of the theme that is taking responsibility but Jimmy is usually mischaracterized as this dumb evil horse lover.

He’s not the only one who seems to mischaracterized, Curly is too. Everyone seems to act like he’s this perfect dude whose great for Anya and would be the hero but he is just as in fault as Jimmy.

Curly was the one who knew Jimmy and always saw the best in him, it is heavily applied that he knew what Jimmy was doing to Anya and did nothing about it when Anya didnt even have to say his name for Curly to know. This is because Curly thought of Jimmy as his friend and his right hand man (which is also kinda mischaracterized)

Curly didn’t just like, hate jimmy all of this time, no they were friends, and Jimmy’s betrayal hit him. Curly also had troubles with taking responsibility, he didn’t take responsibility for how he did almost nothing to stop Jimmy and also he couldn’t take responsibility for being the captain and keeping everyone safe.

You play as both perspectives so you see how similar the two are in some ways and how different they are in others. It’s not a question of if Curly’s better for Anya because thats not the point, the point is to show that they both are at fault and both cant take responsibility which isnt shown that often.

Anya doesn’t need Curly, she needs time to heal, she needs to go to therapy and take care of herself, not date someone who was friends with her abuser. She needs time before she should be in a relationship with anyone because what happened to her is a traumatic experience that no one should go through.

Also Daisuke and his thoughts on Jimmy as well seem to be twisted. Daisuke trusted Jimmy, theres a reason why Jimmy was able to convince him to climb into the vent, its because Daisuke felt almost kinda safe, like he could trust him.

This is because Jimmy is a good manipulator, however a character acts around Jimmy is because Jimmy has shaped them to feel that way, Daisuke wouldn’t have just climbed in there if he didn’t think that Jimmy wouldn’t mean for him to get hurt, even though we might see that he did we have to put our perspective with Daisuke.

Personally I hate Jimmys actions and who he is as a person but I love his character, i like how it’s portrayed in such a new and unique way. Every character in mouthwashing is (I didnt talk about Swansea because I couldn’t think of anything at the moment😔)

I feel as though while no one should forgive Jimmys actions, they should see that he’s a good character and very very well written and is not meant to just be pushed into the background. His toxic masculinity, his manipulative mind, his incapability to take responsibility even in the end when he put Curly in the pod instead of himself, its all written for a reason.

I uh, hope you enjoyed this ramble, it’s something I’m very passionate about because i really really like character analysis and character writing and Jimmy’s character is one of my favorites to just try and figure out the inter workings of.

Ohh I kinda see them as not liking eachother Gregory kinda gets his bias off of Christophe, since Christophe and Herbert dont like eachother either in my hc they fight a lot Gregory sees Herbert as just.. repetitive? Gregory doesn't care about manners, at all, unless he sits with adults like his parents in which he just keeps quiet the whole time. And so Herbert's constant reminders about doing things at the table or other places will really urk him, like a "I didnt ask" type of deal Herbert's perspective to Gregory is trying to keep positive, but after the reactions and bias he also has grown a dislike and not trusting of him

why cant they just work it out 😔 maybe they can have mutual agreements to some things (ty totally not minecraft)

Hi, hello, I'm sorry for barging in unexpectedly, but I just wanted to tell you that your and @slug-ball's ideas about Emma-May/Stan have bewitched me body and soul, and I maaayyyy (read: definitely) have already sketched some stuff and outlined a lil au fic idea for them 😳💖💖💖

Not sure if you've ever heard "Feel Again" by OneRepublic, but I listened to it again recently and it fits them SO well imo, like, verse 1 = Stan's POV, verse 2 = Emma-May's POV, then of course the chorus = both together and I just AAAAAAAAAA I CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT IT AAAAAAAAA

Even tho we know very little about her, I feel like Emma-May's narrative is almost as tragic as Fidds' is, and I wish we could get more info about her and I wish she wasn't such an ignored/forgotten character and uuuggghhh it's so frustrating. BUT I can really see potential for a pairing of her and Stan cuz they're both such damaged, hurting souls and the idea of them coming together to help each other heal from their respective trauma is just so *chef's kiss* to me, hhhhhhhh 😍 (Also I just feel like Stan was MADE to be a step-dad figure, lol.)

Hey im an aspec follower of urs and im really grateful for your aro post mourning aro people. This is gonna be a long vent post, so… im sorry for dumping this on you 😔

All the world views us as disposable and tragic fables and constantly gaslights us about our own lived truths. The goalpost for acceptance in the queer community doesnt even exist because so much of it is just built on a reappropriation of amatanormative standards and it really feels like there’s simply nowhere to go and nobody to turn to because no one thinks of us. Anyone who cant understand the language of desire is exiled from its community of speakers, and to me each day feels like ive been doomed to drift through some kind of purgatorial void for my entire life. We cant have our own language, culture, or history. People say oppression of aro and ace people isnt “as bad”, but that’s the thing, we’re not even allowed to describe our exclusion and silencing and erasure and abuse and tokenizing as “violence” at all. Perhaps due to a certain assumption of inevitability, or some belief that amatormativity is natural to an extent. And im really tired of being ridiculed and dismissed and of being pressured into relationships that would make me miserable. Im really tired of no one thinking it is worth their time or energy to understand my perspective on relationships and desire. Im really tired of being the butt of jokes about being single. Im really tired of being my friends’ second or third priority. Im really tired of feeling worthless and stupid. And mostly im just Tired. And i wish when people saw me they saw my pain and hurt for what they are instead of painting their own colors over it to fix me.

I hope you could find some solace in venting out your feelings to me. I understand a lot of this. I have had multiple wonderful relationships almost if not fully fall apart because I would not give someone the security of having a partner, and I have in the past gotten myself in relationships with the sole scope of not losing someone like that. Don't even have to say it but it didn't end well for anyone.

Our struggles are silent to the rest of the world. Most people don't know we exist and so could not even begin to think about how we're feeling. To the people to whom we exist we still can't be doing that bad because obviously the whole world doesn't know us. It is a struggle every identity who faces in invisibility knows.

But I don't think it's hopeless. Asexual activism has done great steps in the last few years and I am extremely hopeful that we aromantic can take the same. And together we can show ourselves to the whole world and be free.

btw thanks to a friend that was so kind to lend me her rain code copy (tysm arisa if you see this) I've been able to play it - im currently on the mystery labyrinth of ch2, so here's some impressions of the game under the cut (mind the spoilers) (and also dont send spoilers ty)

Love the visuals of the game! I think the 3d is implemented really well and the setting of Kanai Ward is really fun - I just wish there was a pc port because the switch hardware is just. man. I wish I could see everything in HD instead of 380p but it might just be the switch lite lmao

I like shinigami's magical esque's sequences I just hate that they reduced the utena reference to another sex joke. cant have shit in kanai ward

speaking of references, I do like the danganronpa easter eggs but I liked the ace attorney stepladder one even more

I also really like shinigami I just wish she would shut up sometimes

same with desuhiko lmao

prologue was the strongest part of the game so far, MAYBE because it is reminescent of the 'locked place' murders in dr, maybe because everyone gets wasted, i dunno, it was just really fun

ch1 completely lacked what I'd call the emotional component that usually makes games like AA and DR stand out to me - ie I don't have any strong attachment to the victim or the accused, so I feel like I'm just solving puzzles. the puzzle part was still fun tho, and Halara is a great character

ch2 kinda fixed that emotional component with the girl-I-cant-remember-her-name-sorry that you spend time with before the second murder happens

ch2 also felt really fun from a campy perspective, with the disguise stuff going on!! (I do wish shinigami would stop calling yuma a pervert for trying to investigate a murder while dressed as a girl tho)

I do like chief yakou, he's cool in that very pathetic sad man kinda way

I really really love the sprite work, it's SO fun to look at the character's expressions,,, I also love desuhiko's goofy design, it's so fun

you can really feel the budget behind this one, unlike WEC that was just,,, a pain both gameplay wise and story wise, unfortunately 😔 I'm still sad it didnt turn out as good as I wanted it to be

anyway ive been having fun so far so I look forward to keep playing it

It is weird😔 personally I stay away and don't interact with that side of the nordic fandom. I am my own fandom✨ if I'm gonna stand alone in being anti nor/ice then so be it ! the problem thought is the fans finding our blogs/content, no matter what we do people are gonna find a way to fit their perspective of shipping...I mean the fact that you even have to tag your art as not nor/ice speaks volumes about how some people don't understand boundaries and how it makes other people uncomfortable. it shouldn't be necessary for us to even be tagging fanart of BROTHERS as not a ship in the first place😩 no wonder people leave fandom spaces like tumblr....
