About Jinx taking off
This is a response to the meta post It's Horrible Too If Jinx Lives (read that one first)
@space-blue pulling this here, since that is a very long post :) First this is my take on what I think is happening on the show and not a verdict on whether it is good. I generally agree that what Jinx is doing is at least extremely assy to Vi.
I think Jinx faked her death and I actually think that this will be made explicit down the line because they will have Jinx pop up in some of the other media because she's really popular.
Vi made a choice, between more time with Vander and listening to Jinx, and the price paid in the end is Jinx dying.
My slightly friendlier interpretation is that it isn't a choice, more like Vi being shellshocked. ;)
But yes, whether it is shellshock or a concious choice one would assume wouldn't make much difference on whether or not Vi blames herself.
On the other hand, we have seen Vi in the aftermath and ... she seems at least slightly stable? Which one could say is unrealistic in the first place, but apparently it is what the writers settled on? Dunno? Power of having a girlfriend? Being assured twice by Jinx that it's okay?
Firstly, Caitlyn was nowhere near the event, and she can't frame-by-frame the explosion as we do, so you can hardly claim she's looking for Jinx and not, for example, the arcane gem, or Warwick.
I think they meant for that bomb thingie she has to be somehow be a hint to Caitlyn that makes her think Jinx is alive not something she sees in the schematics? I dunno, I didn't analyze it that much detail, the important thing is more the vibe of the scene, why is Cait smiling like that as the voice over just talked about stories not being over while looking at a thing (monkey head) that represents Jinx.
If Jinx is in that blimp, and Caitlyn then tells Vi, "From the schematic, I think your sister could have escaped" (ignoring entirely the fact that Jinx should be cut in half by WW's claws wrapped around her waist), then what would happen???
If Jinx intends to fake her death:
1.) in theory she doesn't know for sure that Caitlyn would figure it out. 2.) maybe she trust Caitlyn to not tell Vi unless the time is right
That's why I said in my analysis post that Vi's Act 3 act sucks because it's almost like her little sister and her girlfriend decided that she's too broken to be trusted with the truth.
Tumblr media
How is this good for Vi?
It is indeed only "good" for Vi in Jinx's mind if Vi doesn't chase her and if she doesn't find out. And it is dependant on either Caitlyn not knowing either or Caitlyn NOT blabbering to Vi unless she's sure Vi is in a right enough mindspace to accept that Jinx doesn't want to see her and instead wants Vi to live her life with Caitlyn.
For the record, and this part naturally is complete headcanon: I kind of doubt that characterwise that Jinx knew the was gonna fake her death. Like, not she walks in "hohoho, I will join to battle and seek for an opportunity to fake my death". More like "I throw myself into battle without regard to my life and roll the dice." and her mind in the Warwick fight it more "yes, Vi is being dumb, I have to fix this, but Vi has more to live for, so I'm gonna take this".
So her potential sacrifice is stil there, but she gets "rewarded" with survival.
I would say mindsetwise, maybe after surviving her suicide attempt she was already leaning towards walking away. She is seeking a way to walk away. Ekko tells her it doesn't have to be suicide. So she's open to "big damn hero" but when she makes it she does walk away.
(like I imagine the entered the battle always knowing that whatever happens she will find a way to walk away from Vi and she's open to all options. (and if Ekko told her that in the parallel universe Vi is dead, then it doesn't serve as a positive example that Vi and Jinx can be together as sisters [though if in Jinx's mind she and Vi are forced to repeat the cycle of Vander and Silco... well it seems in the alt unverse it was Vander and Silco who managed to beat the cycle])
And Ekko? He pulled her out of suicide what? 5 times? Had some epic bonding with her painting all over each other, doing self-care and hair dyes and fixing a balloon so they could go on a big attack together.
I think it's a bit rude for Jinx not to tell Ekko, but I think on principle Ekko would be a lot more understanding that maybe Jinx wants to go away for a while rather than stay in a place that has many negative memories. Go out into the world, find herself, maybe come back when she's better.
There's also trust in there that she'll be fine when she's out there and not cause too much trouble and maybe even become a force for chaotic good.
It's understandable that we as fan want her to stay, because we love Zaun and we love Jinx and we want her to maybe help rebuild things and become a Firelight.
But from an in universe perspective, if Jinx wants to go, I don't think Ekko would object to it. Because yes they can likely use another genius inventor, but there's also been some bad blood and if she thinks she needs some time away, maybe a place where nobody knows her yet, it makes sense to let her go.
Not to mention that he is the one preaching leaping forward and leaving things behind.
And within character, Jinx and Ekko don't have that kind of relationship where I would say that she owes him the truth. Like I would assume if he found out he would be a bit mad, but there isn't an obligation there. Yes he saved her life but chances are he did it because he wanted to convince her to join the fight. Or maybe they had a moment of genuine connection there, but it is still really fresh and new (maybe Jinx is even a bit freaked out by it)
As for Sevika, yes they are on friendly terms, but really on "you have an obligation to tell me that you faked your death because I'll worry myself sick over you" terms?
It makes sense to me that out of the people around Jinx only sees Vi as the one where she has a deep enough responsibility to and with Vi she makes the concious decision to not include her because as she complains, Vi is never going to give up on her and live her own life.
Jinx could have her ending removing herself from Zaun without having to fake her death.
Maybe the writers wanted the drama or they thought they had constructed the sisters in a way that they wanted the sisters apart, but also no other option would be realistic that doesn't include actual death-death.
If you read some writer point of views, they seem to see if "Vi is always the protector and we wanted see what happens if Vi doesn't have anybody she's responsible for anymore":
And yes I fully think that if that's what it is that is incredibly insulting towards Vi that everybody assumes that she has to experience (from her point of view) fully losing Jinx and grieving her in order to be normal rather than just being trusted not to be a clingy sister. (and there's the whole aspect that it clashes with the beginning of the season, if Jinx's complaint is that Vi is never going to give up on her, yet the whole beginning went pretty far in regards to Vi giving up on Jinx or caring about her own depression rather than Jinx)
Arcane has millions of viewers.
I don't think the writers care. They assume that people will go with the "no body, no death" rule OR they see no difference between Jinx sacrificing herself and Jayce and Viktor sacrificing themselves.
Again: same show that just had a cute minor in Isha also commit heroic protective suicide 3 episodes earlier. I don't think that they necessarily see Jinx as being a different category of awful just because we have known her longer and she has a mental illness.
And maybe they should (consider her a different category), I just think it's a good chance that they don't.
Jinx uses pink and blue in that bomb, and pink is how she gets away "quick".
I didn't think it had anything to do with bomb, I just always assumed that pink is representative of Jinx using her shimmer induced superspeed as she did in the fight scenes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like maybe they meant it that way that it was related to the bombs, but to me it really was just a superficial "pink = Jinx" and Jinx has superspeed.
The TEXT of the show is that Vander is burnt away (we see the final image of himself burning up) and he has just attacked Vi, trying to kill her. We have no indication he'd want to spare Jinx here.
I agree that the implication is that Vander dies here, but it's also a relatively peaceful moment, so either him letting her go as the last action of "Vander" or her just escaping with superspeed doesn't seem that out of the question to me.
Finally, and the thing in most poor taste, IMO.
Yes. It's the writers being edgelords/them playing up the whole heroic sacrifice bit (as Viktor and Jayce also sacrifice themselves, Caitlyn sacrifices her eye and Mel sacrifices her humanity).
I don't want a fake-out at this point!! Why would I?? It's legit worse!
I think a variety of people are going to have a variety of reactions on it and they are banking that enough people are relieved or happy to see her again.
Respectively maybe they hope that people who are more than passively engaged will swarm them with "OMG, is Jinx really dead" questions so they can answer coyly with "just keep watching". (case and point: the Netflix afterglow special where they are essentially "Is Jinx really dead? Awww, sorry, we can't say, we left that open." "What about Jayce and Viktor? Oh, they got disintegrated")
Because then it means they couldn't spare 5min of animation time to have her rescued by Ekko and being on the mend with him. Even if she has a scene where she tells him "I need to leave. I can't stay in this city), at least it wouldn't be a cruel joke on the fans and the characters.
As I said, I think the only character who matters in this context is Vi and maybe they wanted us to be in a similar frame of mind as Vi. Respectively, if they made it explicit that Jinx is alive by showing her with Ekko it would really emphasize how stupid Vi is. However, when we are in doubt then Vi being in doubt or fooled makes more sense to us.
It means Jinx didn't deserve/or wasn't able to get better
IMO the practicality of "this is a really fucked up thing to do to Vi" is one aspect. But I think the underlying message is a positive one.
Jinx breaking the cycle by walking way. Jinx is leaping forward my leaving something behind. These messages have been put out there in the build up of her choice and frame her leaving as a positive thing.
This is not Jinx suffering and being sick and needing help. This is Jinx helping herself, exploring the world and making a childhood dream come true (= the blimp).
The assumption is not that she will be miserable out there, the assumption is that she will be better, because we already established via the alt universe that she can be better if the circumstances are right, because Ekko gave her the hope and assurance that she can live without fucking up.
(if anything the fucked up message here is not "you can't get better" but more "getting better/living with psychosis through magical optimism". But that was already a thing when her symptoms were suddenly just disappeared after Silco's death)
Thematically I think there are elements of emancipation, the younger sister taking charge, making a decision over the older sister, the screw up stepping up to be the hero and being "rewarded" for it by talking away to new adventures.
TLDR: It is pretty dumb and contrived, but imo the message was intended to be a positive one, that it's a "leap forward", that it's progress for her to walk away.
We might disagree with this message morally if we for example think that stay put and rebuilding is more heroic than walking away, but imo the intention for them is positive (and on a meta level maybe also informed by "Jinx gets to travel the world and hang out in so many new cool places")
Sidenote: the Timebomb fix it would certainly be that Jinx does stop by to tell him that she's leaving. And maybe he tells her that is dumb and she doesn't have to do go and they need genius inventers like her. And she either changes her mind or at least promises to come back soon. Maybe she paints his braid thingie for him.
And the more shippy fix it is that you just have to retcon Ekko being sad, but Jinx got slightly injured escaping from Warwick and a very scared Ekko scours the tunnels for her, finds the injured Jinx and she has to stay with him at least for a while while she recovers from her wounds. (I presume she would make him not tell Vi and he would probably think that that is stupid as fuck, maybe he would have to argue her being allowed to stay to the Firelights and they could chat about whether they think it's dumb that Sevika is on the council and Jinx could joke Sevika should be grateful because after all Jinx cleaned that seat out for her [going with the idea that Sevika got the Kiramann seat])

Trollhunters Ending FIXED!!!
So....I've recently binged this entire series, fell in love with it and promptly gotten heartbroken at the shitty ending the movie gave us. SO!!!! I have seen many people hating on the ending and pretending it and the movie didn't exist. I came up with an idea that I am permanently using as a replacement for the ending that I'm pretty happy with. I can't write dramatically for shit BUT I can scribble ideas! If anyone wants to flesh this out into a one shot fic PLZ TAG ME JUST SO I CAN READ IT!!!!!
(also this is gonna read more like a screen play for a movie cus I'm a vid editor and that's how I picture stuff, doesn't always translate well into a written story! 😅)
--------------
- So everything stays the same up until Jim uses the kronosphere to go back in time
- Instead of going back to the beginning and changing everything, he travels back to when the Arcane order had finally gotten a hold of the real Nari
- Everything is still happening around him but is dead silent as if he were deaf and in slight slo mo as he gets his bearings (not actually deaf, just that kinda cinematic idea for drama!!)
- Looks around and sees everyone alive gathered around (maybe some sappy or quiet music plays on top of him seeing everyone alive, I dunno!!!)
- As this is the past they don't know Jim just came from the future and are instead focused on glaring at something
- IRL sound hits back in like a huge thud, LOUD AF!!!!
- Jarring Jim to turn around and see the Arcane order hovering in that same ball of magic that surrounded them the first time (that's what everyone is glaring at btw!)
- This is when realization for Jim sets in and he knows this is his second chance
- The music from the credits in the original film (or something like that) starts to build up (in my head it's like him and the music are going "not this fucking time!")
- He transforms into his new armour (either cus it came back in time with him or cus now he knows about the 9th configuration, your choice!)
- Camera and everything is focused on the transformation as the music is building but you can see everyone in the background looking either shocked or like "HELL YEAH!!" when they see Jim finally transforming again
- Quick dramatic shot focusing on the Arcane order still performing their spell, t
- Some sort of cheesy/bad ass hero shot showing off everyone gathered together as the "9th configuration" and ready to kick ass
- Close up on Belroc looking pissed as they realize Jim has transformed and everyone is gathered to fight
- Equally cheesy close up on Jim quietly but determinedly saying something like "not this time" or "my turn" (I can't do dialogue I'm sorry!!!;)
- Jim jumps into fight with everyone following behind
- Final shot of everyone running toward the camera (Arcane order) and cuts to black with Jim swinging Excalibur at the camera.
- As it cuts to black the outro music (roughly 20 secs into it) hits the beat drop at the same time as the credits start!
--------------
Cliffhanger-ish ending, doesn't get rid of the whole story, leaves it up to imagination on who still lives and dies, doesn't undo character development, has more of a feel good "HELL YEAH!!" ending to it (at least for me!) Doesn't feel like a definite ending but has enough to still feel like Trollhunters isn't just over and wrapped up nice and nearly with a pretty bow! For me this works and I'm happy to pretend this is canon. Tbh 90% sure this looks cooler in my head than how it's written down, I might get round to making a vid edit for it on YouTube (cus that's my specialty) but dunno if anyone actually wants to see that!
As I said I'm not a writer so apologies for this chaos!! I don't usually post these things that I think about (cus I've also imaged a better ending for game of thrones!) But I just really wanted to share this in case someone else also enjoyed the concept or in case anyone wants to translate this mess into something coherent!
Anyway, rant done and idea written out, go have fun with it you want, just plz tag cuz I wanna read if you! 😭🙏

Audio Guided Solo TTRPG Concept
Hello. You are listening to a guided roleplaying adventure. This audio will prompt you to build a character, then develop that character through a series of encounters, locations, relationships, and other interactions with a fantastical world.
Lets begin by making your character. In our setting, you play as a member of an outcast band of forest rangers, who patrol a land known as The Vast. This land is populated by enormous, skyscraper sized trees which house entire societies, who live in fear and ignorance of your forest home.
Your character has three skills - a Traversal skill, this is something that helps them move through the environment. They have a combat skill - again, an ability or an edge when conflicts escalate to blows. And finally they have a social skill. This is something that helps them navigate the often fraught interactions with the people around them. Think of a skill for each of these categories, and as you do, try to begin picturing the character you will embody for the next few hours in your mind. How do these skills reflect on them as a person? How are they changed by their mastery of these arts? Does their skillset ask them to wear particular clothes, or carry particular equipment? Perhaps these skills imply comrades, or perhaps they wrap your character in the arcane.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Locations have several points of interest. As I describe them, imagine how your character moves through the area. Try to make note of NPCs that sound interesting, and what your character might have to say to them.
When we describe the NPCs in these areas, we will sometimes describe conditions that would prompt them to share additional information, or change their attitudes significantly. Consider if your character meets these conditions, or what they might do to force them. Remember the number of "actions" your character takes are limited.
When you hear the music change like this - that means your time in this area is coming to an end; an event is about to occur that will prevent you from spending any more time here, and we will move to another hub. You can always pause the audio, or rewind, for more time to think, but do try to limit your distinct actions to the number at the start of the audio.
As we can't know how exactly you reacted to the situations we present, try to carry over your choices between events - it can be helpful to enshrine interactions in physical objects - jewels or coins, magical tools, special food - that you can more easily "carry" in your mind. We will typically try to describe a series of broad strokes, pre-determined events as you move through these spaces, and leave the details of the story to you.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
In Combat, we will describe an ongoing melee, often several conflicts playing out at once; we will describe enemies opening salvos, their approaches, their goals, and their retreats. The assumption is always that your character ultimately succeeds at what they do, but as we describe the scene, you might find your character placed into critical situations, and be asked to give up valuable leverage, items, and positions in exchange for victory. When the music changes like this, that means its time to pay the cost for your victory. Think about what you give up, and what that says about your character, and the world around them.

I was thinking about something regarding your Edge of Man (that was the one with the Arcane cast being robots in a huge arena?) AU:
If Vi, Powder and Silco are all robots, then I guess it can be assumed that Vander, Mylo and Claggor were as well. Which made me wonder if technically they (at least Mylo and Claggor, as Vander might be Warwick now) could be repaired/rebuild?
Because if yes, imagine the angst Vi and Powder would feel if they ever realise that. Even more if it would raise the question for them if their brothers would even still be their brothers or entirely different people with their looks, if they remade them as if nothing has ever happened
Actually, the one with the robots is Westworld AU. The Edge of Men AU is Jayce as functional dictator of a dystopia Piltover who's gotten incredibly obsessed with and possessive of Viktor.
But yeah, that would definitely make at the very least Mylo and Claggor fellow robots. And given that it's been a few years since that plot element went down, they may have saved Mylo and Claggor's specs and memory data, but their bodies very likely have been repurposed for still active robots, so there wouldn't really be a way to rebuild them even if they get the memory data from the robot engineers. Which has to still fuck you up hard, knowing your dead family's memories are there but you can't get to them or bring them back in any meaningful way.
But also, I kinda got an idea for Vander. Since the robots and humans were working together until quite recently (where Jayce Giopara was a robot that got rescued from permanent decommission after wrapping their storyline by his lover/stage rival/engineer MH), maybe we should make Vander (at least the original) a human actor/handler for the robots back when they were in the really early stages that got incredibly attached and was just not ok at all when he had to be killed off for the story or when he had to try and drown Silco for that matter. Or we make Vander/Warwick in the middle of his restructuring that's been massively put on hold thanks to everything going on ((no need to add rampaging werewolf man to the mix) that someone could find in the robot build/repair bays. What do you think?
[Also, I had to edit this and for some reason it didn't let me edit the ask on mobile after putting it in the drafts, it forced me to post it and I had to get out my laptop]

i don't know if it will be of any value to you but still: usually when i go fic hunting i only shoot for smut, because it interests me the most, for many reasons. since getting into arcane i've done that sort of fic hunting a lot, and read a few non-smuts in the process, but none had much of an effect on me, let alone enough to check out what other works the author has written. you though, are the first writer who doesn't write smut (apart from like, one or two mild vanco scenes?) but i straight up subscribed to on ao3 anyway (and i can count my subscribed authors on one hand). your writing is simply amazing. the pacing, the emotions, how you build on top of canon in a very specific way and get it to work in your favor. it pulled me in instantly and made me stay. and i regret nothing. i think i've read all of your arcane fics so far and am genuinely considering putting aside my prejudice against star wars and watching it just to read what you've done in the star wars fandom as well. just wanted you to know that. quite a few of your fics i think back to on a daily basis, and nothing feels quite as joyous as waking up from a nap to a notification about a new work of yours. just wanted to say it. i wish you all the best 💗
Hey Anon, sorry I took a couple days to reply. You think this sort of nuclear grade compliment can be of "no value" to me? Or any writer? Gosh, do I have a bridge to sell you. Seriously, I nearly swallowed my tongue reading this and then needed to sleep on it two nights in a row before the emotions subsided enough to tackle the answer.
Rare is the writer who doesn't thrive on compliments of their work, and rarer still are the compliments higher than "I'll get in a shitty fandom to follow you" or "I love all your work despite your suspicious levels of aroace flavoured genfics" or "you're like my 3rd sub"
You can't imagine me red enough in the face, right now, as I answer this ask. What am I supposed to say? Thank you? A Keysmawjenfkjwenfkfn? A GIF??
Tumblr media
I'm deeply honoured and flattered both, and I'll strive extra hard to go on, and *at the very least* wrap up all my Arcane WIPs (SW fans who follow me and read this are invited to shut up and not comment on that, I'm not taking sass or feedback at the moment)
Alright, this being said... I'd encourage you to try out my Original short stories before you go down the route of Star Wars, even if some of those are really old. I add to the series slowly. The ones I'm most proud of are All Father (historical fantasy in ancient Gaul), The Teacher (introspective sci-fi with body horror elements), and Blink (Urban fantasy FBI case). Bear in mind all my works were hit by the fucking kudos bot fairy so they all have around 38 to 42 extra guest kudos that mean nothing.
Then I'd even recommend this Little Red Riding Hood one shot (mind the tags) over Star Wars.
Why, do you ask? Well, even if some of my best works are Star Wars, and some of the best fics I've read are also Star Wars... Well...
It's extremely dicey to recommend Star Wars as a fandom. I fell in the cauldron as a child, you see. Wore my French dubbed tapes down to nothing, rewatching the entire trilogy every day sometimes, in the summer holidays. I was *obsessed*. I had an articulated Jabba the Hutt toy ffs. Then I moved on, I suppose, even if I watched every film... I didn't read the comics, or the books. I played a couple prequels Play Station games but not the rest (games were forbidden on the side of the fam that raised me).
Then at the ripe age of like 29, I picked up the Thrawn novels out of curiosity, wanting more SW content that wasn't the hot trash sequels. It was like falling down a rabbit hole.
Now I've watched everything but rebels, played more games, read more comics, fell head first into the fanfic side of fandom, even picked up digital painting just to do fanart for it... But it's STILL A FUCKING CURSED FANDOM.
I can't, in good conscience, recommend it. I COULD give you exact pointers to watch stuff which I believe is super well done. I still feel like the Original Trilogy (OT) is an undying classic that you should watch because they're good and fun cinema. [Although I warmly recommend you pirate the original, non-CGI augmented version of the film, even if you have D*sney+. The CGI-redone version sucks ass]
But almost *everything else* that came out of SW is fucked one way or another. Shitty CGI or acting, childish dynamics, plot hole galore, problematic and insensitive attitudes on the creators' part, and most infuriatingly: derivative, cash grabbing, cameo ridden drivel packed in unoriginal storylines and foreeeverrrr more problematic shit. It's... Not *good* to be a SW fan. It's a fantastic universe, and the sand box offers so so soooo much.
But I don't write fics because the universe is so cool, like in Arcane. I write Star Wars fics because the canon, outside of the OT, has a tendency of being infuriating and broken. I write to fix. I read to fix. To expend on all the stuff they never bothered to cover.
We're always angry in the SW fandom, and D*sney is milking us in the most disrespectful way possible. I'm HATING the BoBF show, and I STILL have to watch it, and feel my fan soul crumple as they drag out my favourite characters in live action and make them look shit and do nonsense stuff. It's like a curse. Like I can't not watch, even though I wish I could.
*Sigh*
This being said... Some of my fics are easy to get into fandom blind... Watching the OT gives a good grasp of the universe. If you are the type who enjoys drinking while watching B movies, and/or have friends who are into SW... You could probably get yourself through the Prequel Trilogy. They're corny, look garbage (omg don't even try SW fans, I wear the shield of 60+ TCW era fics to my name) and the only two actors actually pulling their weight and having fun are Ian McDiarmid and Christopher Lee. BUT, the Story under the dumpster fire is excellent. The meme potential is very well known. My prequels meme folder is a place of endless tears of joy and I can always use it as a pick-me-up lol
Tumblr media
There's potential. It's not a good trilogy, but it's a peak quality sandbox!
Next up, the Clone Wars TV series fills up so many blanks in that era and story... It entirely fixes the character of Anakin Skywalker, introduces undying loves like Ahsoka Tano and Cad Bane... But—again, always, forever with the BUT—the first 3 seasons are a slog, every episode featuring Padme or the droids is like sand paper to the brain. From season 4 onward it becomes a tolerable kid's show, and then all of a sudden you're hooked... And out of nowhere the final season is like "Hi, let me punch you in the fucking GUTS"
Tumblr media
I have stoic guy friends who fucking cried in that finale. It also ends up looking gorgeous. So of course it lulls you in that false sense of security... Like you can finally enjoy some SW content without qualms... And then literally the next show you pick up slaps you in your damn fool face, and it feels sticky, so you rub your cheek and your fingers come off white and you go "Aaah yes, I was wearing my clown makeup"
So anyway... I'd LOVE to see you come fall down and suffer with us. There IS joy to be had in this fandom, and it's possible you'll find more for yourself than most, by virtue of not being one of the fans who were reared by a set of video tapes. Seeing Luke's character being put in a blender might not make you want to retch your soul out.
But I don't want to be the one who brings you down. I'd have less qualms luring you into the Hannibal fandom than SW. Or honestly I could point you towards single episodes, recaps, AMVs, or even just gif sets, that are all you really need to enjoy some of my works.
No matter what, I'm deeply, profoundly flattered by the emotion, anon, and I kiss you on the mouth and spin you around and show you all my blooming crops you've so thoroughly watered.
