It’s not really about anything? Tbh?

Really it just felt really fucking weird that my favorite fictional characters of all time that have basically become my personality at this point and that I really like using to express my emotions about certain topics and have become my coping mechanism and the means by which I process my surroundings and are basically stand ins for myself and my boyfriend at this point and that I like to make kiss are literal seventh graders

So I made them. Not that. Because I frequently forget they’re not my age anyway

So this AU is essentially “what if the peculiars didn’t stay loop bound teenagers forever” and they’re now like 10 years older physically than they are in the books because that actually makes them older than I am and I’d like for them to have their lives a little more together than I do so that works out I think

So now I’ve spent 24 actual hours on a drawing of this that isn’t even done being colored and is one of the most complicated things I’ve ever made because life is short and I live in a fascist country and queer joy is the biggest form of protest

So I wanted to get back to reading Swan Queen fic regularly, and I asked people to rec longfic that they'd read (not written) and loved that had fewer than 300 kudos! I haven’t read most of these, but I’ve collected them here so y’all can go through the list and discover some new fics with me! Please try to kudos and review every fic that you read! Atonement by SgtMac (M): With Regina's magical heart failing thanks to years of previous evil, Emma and Regina and Henry (and Granny!) set out to save her life by traveling to the Enchanted Forest and requesting help from ancient magical beings known as the Guardians. Given a mission as simple as it is impossible - to achieve atonement by creating peace - the ladies find themselves joining a rebellion and fighting for the very soul of the Enchanted Forest all while trying to help Regina to understand that the self-loathing and guilt which have driven most of her actions don't have to doom her chance for a new beginning or even, a chance to live and love again. A S4(ish) SQ love story set against the turmoil of war and the chaotic savagery of the old world.

I needed you so badly that even when I had no memory of you, I still tried to find you.” Regina gave Emma and Henry memories of a happy life together before they fled Pan’s curse, leaving them with no memories of their lives in Storybrooke. However, when the memory spell shows signs of failing, threatening to rip apart the minds of both Emma and Henry, Regina makes a drastic choice to go back and fix it, understanding that it will mean living alone in a world where her son doesn’t know her. Even put up with the two idiots, Captain Guyliner and a bunch of dwarves she decidedly wanted to drop off at the nearest exit. But in their search for Emma, they find that she might not need that much saving after all. Caught up in a search for the infamous Philosopher Stone, an all out war between DunBroch and Camelot, and ghosts from the past to haunt her every waking moment, Regina finds herself scrambling to keep her and her family's happy endings from falling apart.

The Hyperion by FrankenSpine (M): After wishing upon what she believes is a shooting star, Emma Swan finds herself aboard the Hyperion, the royal starship of an alien Queen from a faraway galaxy. Okay, so I wanted to prompt this for the secret mutant madness and completely forgot to. So this is a Modern, powered or powerless AU

Charles Xavier, the heir to the Xavier fortune is kicked out to the streets by his step father at 20, when Marko Sr. finds out that Charles is gay. Destitute, he survives a few days with on a small stash of cash he'd managed to save and then working menial jobs. But when that fails to pay for three square meals, Charles decides to sell his body to fill his stomach and pay for university. He was young then, with fine features and a mouth to die for (according to his clients). He gains a steady clientele over the years and makes enough money to feed and clothe himself.

Eleven years later, he's no more the same man he once was. He's losing his youth, and his once slender figure is now gaining weight. He no longer looks virginal or angelic. At 31, he can't rely on his body or looks to feed himself. With younger boys and better prospects on the streets, business is dwindling for him.

HIs mother and Marko are dead, and his sister Raven is now the holder of the Xavier fortune. Charles could always go back and explain his predicament to her, but he'd never forgiven himself for leaving a ten year old Raven alone in the hands of Marko and their neglectful mother, and he doubts she will, too. Charles never did get to complete his degree at Oxford, and without it, avenues for a decent job are slim.

But then, he wakes up one morning and finds out that his colleague and friend is brutally murdered.

Ever since his parents ware mugged and murdered by a street thug, Erik had fought with everything he'd had to become a detective, just so that no one else had to lose their parents at 13. Erik, at 20 is the youngest recruit to the police force. He grows up the ranks quickly and earns a name and reputation for himself. All that changes when a rogue thug he'd jailed attacks their house. Though he survives the attack, his wife and daughter don't. Hungry for revenge, he travels down a dark path for several years and comes very close to losing his job (He would have, if not for his partner, Azazel). Now he ends up a suspension and a psyche test which diagnoses him with PTSD. He's 33 and a no-name when he joins back the force, deigned unfit for duty.

And then Azazel brings in a report that a hooker has been murdered in cold-blood. The case gets pushed back to the backburner (because, really, not many care about a dead hooker with no family or friends. The trail is bound to go cold, anyways.) But this is a chance for Erik to prove himself- that he still has it in him to bring criminals to justice. A chance to prove to himself why he joined the force in the first place. A chance to save what's still left of him.

The trail of investigation would have gone cold if not for a friend of the victim (a hooker himself) Charles Xavier, who vows to fight with all that he has to bring his friend's murderer to justice. With not much help from the department, Erik has to work with Charles to catch the killer.

Somewhere along the way, their working partnership changes. Will Charles be the balm to Erik's aching heart and soul, and will Erik be the hope for Charles' future?

:( Okay.  I always end up rereading fics when I make these lists, so here we go, together 😭  I’ll list all the ones that have made me cry, and some that didn’t make me cry but still upset me.  Also, I can’t handle memory loss AUs, so I’ll put those on here, too.

I think like, half or more of these have a sad or inconclusive ending.  Some of these I’ve recc’d before.  I hate a bunch of these lol.  And then I reread them anyway lol.  Why.
