Hi guys! ❤️
So I feel a bit weird posting this but I realized I have a small platform on here, what with people messaging me to come out or for queer advice (please keep it up, I love helping. I hope I’m helpful) and I just want to give some people some general reminders:
If you are young, queer, and ESPECIALLY trans:
Know. Your. Rights.
Let me explain:
Do you know what you can and cannot get arrested for in your state/country (specifically when it comes to queerness)? Do you know it IN DETAIL? Careful, people lie. Look it up.
Do you know what your rights are if you are arrested? Again, know this in detail. Don’t say “oh it won’t happen to me.” It could.
Do you know what you have a right to at work? At school? In public? Look it up. People will not always hand things to you even if it is the law. It’s horrible and disgusting but sometimes you have to remind people what you have a right to do and have.
I don’t say this to make you scared. BUT Here’s the thing- this is reality. No matter where you live or what you look like, there are people who might try to hurt you or treat you unfairly because of your queerness.
You should not have to be your own advocate. You should not have to do research on these things. But you need to.
If you or anyone else is struggling to find information about laws and rights in your area, PLEASE message me. I am more than willing to help.
Here are a few questions to get you started:
What are your rights if arrested? Do you have a right to a lawyer? A trial? To be told why you were arrested?
What are your country’s laws regarding search and seizure?
What are your country’s laws regarding being gay, pda when in a gay relationship, and ‘cross dressing’?
What are your country’s laws regarding bathrooms and gendered spaces?
What are your rights in school/work? ARE YOU BEING GIVEN ALL OF THEM?
I know that all of this is very nuanced but please do your best to educate yourself, for your own safety. Again, I am always here to help ❤️❤️❤️
Please reblog to reach more people and please add on any other advice!

Good morning, I hope you're doing well.
I just wanted to start by saying I deeply admire your work, and have found it beautiful, emotive and inspiring.
From what I know, you do reenactments in the UK and I've been wanting to get into reenactment myself for a looooong time, but I've always chickened out because I'm trans (ftm, pre T/medical transition).
It's super refreshing to find a trans person in this scene. I was wondering if you had any advice? Whether that's how to find safe groups, how to find costumes that fit, how to maybe start projects yourself. Any advice at all would be deeply appreciated.
The ww1/ww2 periods are really close to my heart and I would adore the opportunity to explore reenactments for these periods of history in a safe environment.
All the best,
🪖
Ah that’s awesome you’re interested in getting into reenactment, it’s a really fun hobby! Don’t think I’ve seen any advice posts for world war reenactors specifically in your situation; I think “modern” military reenactment with this in mind comes with special considerations, so I’ll do my best to give a loose Survival Guide below the cut if you’re wanting to start. This will be Long, but I’ve not seen another resource on this sort of thing from the trans angle so might as well be specific! These are just my own observations to hopefully give you a bit more perspective on whether or not it’s something you’re comfortable pursuing. That all being said…
★ In the case of being trans, especially without medical transition, I HIGHLY advise against doing this hobby completely stealth, it’s just not a good idea. For many events, you camp in the same tent/room with lads your age to men 60+ and may have to change in front of them. Even in the event there is space/bathroom to change, it’s sometimes only a single stall crawling with spiders as a lot of re-enactments are in a little village in the middle of nowhere. If it’s not your own group that could cause problems upon circumstantially finding out, it could be another reenactor or member of the public. If you bind or pack, you have to get the things on and off secretly around so many people you don’t know. Some events are in other countries. For a lot of events, there isn’t any cell service so in the off-chance something goes wrong and you have no one to help you…. You’re Cooked.
★ Transparency to some capacity is best. Whether it’s just a couple group members that know or the whole group knows, someone’s support is your greatest safety net. If you find a group you want to trial, I recommend first shooting an email rather than meeting face to face. Ask if they’re looking for new members, if they already are, that you would be interested in a trial. Add that you’re trans and you want to know if this is an issue, there’s really no other way to ask this. It’s complex, but really they’re not allowed to tell you no on grounds of discrimination, however you can gauge how accepting they are by their response. If they’re suddenly not looking for new members or they play email tag over weeks with no clear answer, pass. Being upfront about it if you’re pre-everything will save you wasting time on groups who don’t want to work with you.
★ Research local regiments/groups you want. Searching near your county may mean you won’t have to travel too far for events, but not always. And you don’t have to stay local, I find groups accept members from just about anywhere in the UK, even outside it sometimes! It’s also good to have some research done on the regiment/battalion you want.
★ Next, big, very important: World War re-enactment is a very Actual Military dominated hobby, and you’ll be exposed to all that entails. I say this to give you a heads up as to the social environment you’re entering into which not many trans people may consider. There’s no way to engage with this area of group reenactment that is completely divorced from the genus of the military as it exists today, even for historical education. The groups I’ve met as well as my own are comprised mostly of veterans, people currently serving, or those from military/first-responder families. In my own observation, world war groups feel more like off-shoot capillaries of the military as opposed to doing something like medieval reenactment or a Jacobite. They are run, funded, and supported in full or part by current/ex military members and organisations. Now obviously it’s not the real military, you’re not enlisted, you’re not going to get court-martialed if you do something wrong! However, these groups try to hold themselves to the same professionalism that you would get if you were actually in the forces cos you’re portraying someone in the military—albeit 1916–who would’ve held themselves to the same standards. There’s fun, there’s jokes, but you stand up so straight on inspection that it’s uncomfortable, eyes front, you never fool around with a weapon, you do what you’re told, and you try to help out every member as best you can cos you’re a unit. It’s a balance between being serious and fun. I know I’m silly outside it, but once I’m on site, it’s time for more discretion. You’re first and foremost an educational historical actor, and as such you’re required to conduct yourself in the public eye as a service member—someone’s ancestor—representing a real regiment that more than likely still exists. This is not a Ren Faire environment. A reenactment group does not exist in a vacuum and neither do the world wars. Not every group is as connected with the Real military as others, but this is just a Heads Up in case interacting with these entities contributes to making you feel “unsafe” in your position.
★ There is also that complicated grey area of how even the most progressive group still exists within a network of current systems which are traditional and affects the way that group must present itself to the public and their Real Military Counterparts they are inseparable from. World war reenacting is still deeply intertwined with current forces and old tradition because the wars and their decades are still within collective consciousness and still hot topics of discussion. Some people really take issue with trans people in the hobby, we all know this, so even as supportive as a group may be, many choose for safety to be on the DL when engaging with other hobbyists whom you don’t know (outside of your group). I personally don’t know any other trans men active in WW groups, though I know they’re out there. That alone should give you an idea as to how Quiet we keep it for safety, even if, bless them, our cis group mates would gladly tell someone off for being transphobic. Though having to be on the DL to anyone outside your group at events for someone who is pre-everything can be anxiety inducing. It’s why I say it’s for your own benefit that at least someone in your group 100% has your back.
★ Lads love teasing each other and will tease you, with love, but don’t be the doormat for anything transphobic. As is the case with the real military, jokes/teasing is an integral part of the camaraderie and as I said, lots of people doing WW reenacting are current/ex military. Short jokes @ me are common, they’re made with love, it’s not transphobic or malicious. While someone messing with you is common cis male bonding, don’t hesitate to tell someone steady on if they go over the line or they’re genuinely being malicious before you go to the sergeant with a formal complaint. It’s usually an immediate apology and then never doing it again. And as said, don’t let transphobic teasing slide. If there is any phobic joke that could fly under the radar to someone not privy, it would be jokes equating you with someone called “Bob” so if you ever hear that one—if you don’t already know what that means—definitely bring that up to someone!
★ A tip for cis male dominated spaces: self-confidence, optimism, and a general good nature will get you far. Being extremely, constantly awkward or aloof from dysphoria or fearing cis men will tend to get you “othered”. It can be hard to be more vocal or confident if you’re anxious not having had many dealings with cis male social groups, but my advice is to try to be as casual as possible, shaking hands with eye contact, going about your business, and Being Normal about guys walking around half naked in the mornings or accidentally catching sight of your mate’s bits. Generally, if you’re not Weird about them, no one’s Weird about you!
★ It’s also a mutual respect-based environment. As long as you’re mature, level, putting in the effort, are quick to learn, friendly, and doing your bit in the group, chances are you will get along with everyone fine and they will get along with you regardless of anyone’s politics or beliefs, which I think is most trans people’s fear for this hobby. Everyone is aware infighting and heated debates over anything can destroy a group or bring harm against yourself or your mates, which is why I’ve found if you simply say you don’t feel comfortable talking about something, people back off cos they respect that. Trans or not, if you’re abrasive or egotistical, just like any social situation, respect for you goes down.
★ People are more than happy to impart knowledge, there are lads who could easily talk for hours about one thing if you get them going so don’t be afraid to ask questions! If you’re nervous about asking someone for help with drill, kit, etc it’s less “How do you not know this?” and more “I’m SO glad you asked!” It’s sort of like having a group of brothers for the weekend, always teaching you something. I find reenactors can never pass up an opportunity to thoroughly explain something (myself included) and sometimes even unprompted will just point to something you’ve got and start telling a story about it. Everyone, even elder members, learn something new every event
★ In terms of clothing sizing, I’ve got stereotypical male proportions (bar my height) so I can’t speak much from personal struggle on this one. Most modern-made reenactment gear is quite amply sized, which is fine if you’re larger but is a pain if you’re smaller. Most groups will have spare kit in diff sizes you can borrow on trialling them, and there are good videos on YouTube to familiarise yourself with all the parts and how to care for them, and of course you can ask me here as well. If you want something yourself, everyone and their mums starts out with Soldier of Fortune these days, and owning your own trousers/tunic of course means you can tailor it if need be. You’re also looking at around at least £600 for a relatively complete kit, but tbh it’s easily over £1000 weapons and extras included.
★ On clothing, maybe it’s cos I’m short, but your grey flannel is your best friend if you have to get changed in front of someone and don’t want them to see your Downstairs. The greybacks are quite long I find, so as long as it’s on, you can change trousers and sometimes even undergarments without flashing anyone.
★ On getting changed: always try to be the first to get ready, it doesn’t look weird, you just look on top of things! Do a bit of recon when you can about changing spaces and the toilet situation cos you might be able to get creative where you change, including in your sleeping bag. It’s good to try to get at least an undershirt and bottom half on before the group wakes up, you easily put on tunic and boots and the rest alongside everyone else. You might even find you just end up sleeping in kit, sometimes we do that. Getting to the toilet first also means you not only avoid being late for inspection trying to sort yourself, but you’re not after the lad with the Least Desirable morning routine (and believe me, there will be at least one, if not more).
★ Though sleeping in the same space and getting ready around each other is usually expected, it’s not mandatory. For some multi-day events, it may be possible to go home and come back the next morning so you don’t have to sleep/change with the rest of the boys. It’s possible to show up to events already kitted and leave kitted so you don’t need to change at all. If you’re all staying in a hotel, you can get a separate room or if everyone is staying at camp, you can stay in a local inn if there is one. If you’re under canvas, you can always bring a separate tent and sleep by yourself. HOWEVER, because sleeping together (and drinking till 3 AM) and getting ready polishing brass or making breakfast is a Group Bonding Experience just be aware you’ll miss out on that bonding if you go off alone a lot or cut events short to go home/come back, if having more bonding is particularly important to you!
★ If you’re binding, it’s worth noting depending on what exactly you’re doing you carry anywhere between 20-50 extra pounds on your person. There is decent physical activity, you are with equipment on your feet for most of the day, and hobnail boots are not the most comfortable. Being in an entirely wool uniform on a baking, humid day in a binder would be absolutely bloody miserable. You would have to take the binder off after all that lest you hurt yourself. Also, if you join a Highland Regiment, it is not a good idea to pack. And I’m not talking about your kit bag. If your Swagger Stick falls out on a demo in front of hundreds of families, there is no coming back from that, there really is no room for Oopsy in that scenario, it’s not worth the embarrassment!
★ As for starting projects yourself… that’s a tricky one. If it’s like a little reenactment group, that’s a massive undertaking, I could write a novel about that alone and the money and insurance and complex social things that would involve. There are ways you can do solo reenactment for educational purposes, though this requires having a relationship with whatever venue is hiring you such as a museum. While doing a scout or medic would be easy enough, doing a fully kitted infantryman would be a bit harder. If you have weapons like a rifle or bayonet, you need a permit to carry them. Solo reenacting also requires you to know A TON of information, not just about the war, but the surrounding time period give or take 20 years, your entire kit, gear, and loads of other things.
★ In conclusion, as intimidating as this can seem to navigate around cis men as a trans man for (potentially) the first time in a very military, traditionally masc environment…. I think as long as you come into it with the same attitude as any young man would at the time, you’ve got pals to back you up, and you try to be cheery and do your bit, you’re likely to do just fine and have fun! I know reenactment can seem like the straight white old male phobic hardcore conservative hobby, but it is a really rewarding experience as long as you take some precautions, there are some genuinely lovely people in it, eager to pass on their knowledge. If you feel a group is not a good fit, you can always leave, and there will be other groups who will be more than happy to have you. While I can’t say I’ve met any trans men in my time doing it, I’ve at least met some other LGB reenactors who are really lovely and very supportive.
Hope something here puts your anxiety at ease, or at least doesn’t make anything worse! If it’s of any comfort, I think groups as a whole are becoming much more supportive of LGBT+ members. I think the coming generations that are starting to have more active involvement in this area of reenactment look to be making it better for LGBT+ people to participate in historical education and overall hobby engagement.
Cheers! x

trans students have it hard.
this is no surprise to anyone who’s gone through school. regardless of whether or not you’re out, transitioned, or even aware of your identity, it’s so often i hear the same story from my siblings in queerness. hate comes from all directions—teachers, students, even from those in your own community. time and time again it’s been proven that our chances of success only dwindle when faced with an unsupportive environment.
isn’t it clear that so many lgbtq people live with an extra layer of difficulty? especially today, trying to get through school while it feels as though the entire country has it out for you. do you know what it’s like to be propped as a scapegoat for what’s wrong in the world, while your government focuses on taking your rights away?
transgender people are more likely to be assaulted or killed. we are at a higher risk for homelessness, which then means it’s even harder to survive. now more than ever, in the communities you live, you need to support trans people.
my home state, florida, is so dangerous to be in as a trans person that many queer supporting groups list it as unsafe to travel in whatsoever. legislation here restricts educator’s ability to express themselves freely, allowing gender to be called into question as part of a humiliating display over bathrooms, and taking away countless books with representation differing at all from average heteronormative american values. i’m afraid to even swim alone without repercussion.
please take notice of the issues all transgender, nonbinary, and genderqueer students go through. if there is anything you can do to help your trans friends and peers get through their degree programs, consider them. create local resources and networks to understand how to be part of a community safety net. the more that we are in union, the more chance we have to thrive.
if you have the ability to, put effort into locating your closest support groups. contribute to their lists of safe providers, listen to the actual human people. become a part of groups like PFLAG, the ACLU, or other networks that support trans youth such as the one i have linked as my post source.
there is no better time than now to become a friend of the trans community. there is no better time to support those in your area with affirmation, connection, and care.
suggestions to support community
create a study group! find a safe, consistent place to contact and/or meet each other. make efforts to include other students and maintain rules to ensure their safety
share knowledge of local, trans-friendly locations and support trans-run small businesses
go to local drag shows and tip your performers!
donate to organizations fighting for lgbtq rights at the local, state, and federal level
MOST OF ALL: be kind. behind every person is a life full of joy and sorrow. strive to be the joy in theirs.

1.1 Gestation
Before the text even starts I'm a little impressed that Wildbow has already been like "hey if you want trigger warnings then don't read this," that's really helpful and not at all a sign of dismissive attitudes towards trauma hey I wonder if that's gonna come up at some p
Tumblr media
Apropos of nothing I wish I'd gotten an hour for lunches back in high school, that would've ruled.
Mr. Gladly already grates pretty impressively as a character, honestly, but that's probably just me. Taylor's own biases aside, like half my family are educators and it's not a good sign when a teacher doesn't take their job seriously. Also not a good sign when a grown adult apparently craves being seen as "cool" by teenagers, but that's more a case of being kind of a loser
Tumblr media
Taylor's voice as a narrator is already strong. You can feel her bitterness, resentment, and self-deprecation with how she looks at Madison and at herself, and she's convinced that a lack of femininity is part of what marks her as an outsider. Appearances are a tool, or in the case of Taylor's torturers, a weapon, and she has no armor against it.
Tumblr media
This is just. So miserable. The paranoia and the desperation to try and find safety in a bathroom stall, and the fact that it doesn't protect her from getting bathed in cranberry juice? Agony.
Tumblr media
Gee Taylor you sure spend a lot of time thinking about the specific categories of attractiveness that other women fall into (I know Wildbow says that Taylor is straight but I don't know if Wildbow is reading his own text)
The juxtaposition of anger and futility is powerful here. Taylor realizes who's penning her into the stall and it lights a fire inside of her that immediately proves useless for actually solving or escaping the problem.
Tumblr media
Yeah called it.
Tumblr media
Haha, she said crystal
But no for real this is such an awesome first time for both displaying a power and describing what it's like for Taylor to be connected to this, to have a constant link with so so so many bodies and senses. Do people really think this is a weak power? What's up with that.
Tumblr media
If I remember correctly she never actually gets back at her bullies with the bugs, which is a reflection of incredible restraint on her part, and even when her capacity and willingness to inflict violence escalates there's still enough of her rationale to just never cross this one line.
Can't wait to watch her speed past all the others.
Tumblr media
Poor girl. I know you get there eventually, but you're going to have to pay so dearly for it.
Immediate thoughts
1.1 leaves a really strong first impression; you're sympathetic to the protagonist immediately, you can see who she is and what she cares about and how she thinks, and you get a sample of what her status quo is, which is in a word: miserable. Great job setting the tone.
The impressions from other characters are shallow so far but I get the sense they're meant to be. Any depth on the part of Gladly or the bullies is incidental rn, and frankly not something that Taylor would be privy to.
I want to see what's next. I've got time before work so I'm gonna keep going, and then depending how slow things are going I might get some reading in on the clock. Stay tuned.

Summary: You stay the night at Sam and Tara’s apartment where Sam gives you her spare clothes to put on before bed when a sudden nightmare strikes you both causing you and Sam to become closer before Ghost Face makes his presents known.
Warnings: Long Story, Fluff,
Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 2.5 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 4.5 Chapter 5 Chapter 5.5  Chapter 6 Chapter 6.5 Chapter 7 Chapter 7.5 Chapter 8 Chapter 8.5 Chapter 9 (Chapter 9.5 Coming Soon)
Tumblr media
Later that night, Sam gives you one of her bigger T-shirts and boxers from her bedroom before you take a shower because she was going to clean your clothes for you in the morning. Then you meet her in the living room looking around, "Everyone went to bed early?" you ask.
Sam nods "Late actually, I can imagine how they must be feeling after partying earlier" she says before looking up at you and taking a moment to appreciate just how good you look in her clothes before distracting herself with a pillow she was setting up for you on the couch. "I'm surprised you aren't sleeping in Tara's room," Sam says not looking up at you
And you look at her with a questioning look thinking about it, "I guess I didn't want to interrupt her sleep by snoring if I’m super exhausted," you say rubbing your neck. For some reason, your answer causes her to laugh and you giggle in response, as her laugh which is rare to hear is like music to your ears "What's so funny?" you ask as you walk around the couch to move the coffee table just a little bit away from the couch with Samantha's help.
"I just think it was funny that you would worry about that considering that she snores like a man sometimes" Now it was your turn to laugh and Sam had to cover your mouth with her hand and she chuckled putting her pointer finger over her lips as you both looked towards the bedrooms before looking back at each other.
Then she takes her hand away from your mouth, "You don't think they heard us do you?" you ask and Sam shakes her head.
"Nope, I think we're in the clear" she says before looking at her bedroom door with a look you can't quite place but you make a suggestion.
"I know that you guys pay the rent here, however, you are more than welcomed to sleep on the couch while I sleep on the floor." You say making an educated guess as to why she might be hesitant but Sam turns to you tiredly dodging your suggestion.
"I'm going to head to bed y/n so drive safely in the morning okay?" and you nod slowly realizing that being concerned for the dark wasn't the case with Sam, so you didn't press.
"Thank you, Sam, you too.." you say before covering your face knowing she doesn't have a car "I mean I hope you get to and from home safely as well" you say hearing her giggle
"Night, y/n" she says as you watch her disappear into her bedroom.
And before you go to sleep you make sure that the front door and windows are locked ensuring everyone's safety, and when you are satisfied you hit the hay, getting comfortable on the couch and pulling the blanket over your shoulders as the sounds of the big apple slowly lull you to sleep.
The next day you started your morning routine. You went to the bathroom and then headed to the kitchen to make an egg omelet for yourself before deciding to make omelets for everyone in the apartment."Breakfast is ready guys!" you say allowed but you don't hear anyone, no movement from Sam's room, music from Taras, laughing from Anika and Mindy's room, a few jokes from Chad and Ethan's room, nor a creak from Quinn's room. "Hello?" you say as you went to check up on your friends, taking a deep breath as you did so, opening every one of their bedroom doors only to find their rooms empty, not a single soul. Then you hear a blood-curdling scream rip through the apartment causing you to cover your ears before trying to find the source of the scream, when you discover a mask in front of the bathroom door. When you bent down to pick up the mask the screams suddenly stopped and it was silent again, looking closer at the mask you realize it was Ghost Face but you noticed something was off about it, so you put your hand in the mask to find that someone had carved a three in the upper part of the mask. Then you felt a presence behind you but you couldn't move, almost as if you were paralyzed, unable to defend yourself as you feel this person embrace you while extending their arm revealing that they had a knife, and before you could scream you were sta-
Then you wake up in a cold sweat and panting like you've run a mile while your eyes darted across the room, checking for any threats before reaching for your throat when you feel pain there, so you get up to put on the kitchen light, and using the reflection from the window as it was still night out. When you look closer you notice that you have a cut on the left side of your neck and you know it's not super deep but it's deep enough to leave a light scar so you get a napkin to soak in the sink before applying it to your neck. The feeling of the soaked napkin felt cool on your skin as it was a nice distraction from the pain, to distract yourself further, you look at the time and it reads 2:50 am making you take a deep breath in as you tried to figure out how you got grazed in the first place before it was cut short when you heard a noise coming from one of the bedrooms, so you went to investigate checking in on everyone. For the most part, everyone was asleep, and knowing that they were safe lessons that fear that hung over you as you turned the kitchen lights off, but before you can fully relax you hear the sound again, and it leads you to Sam's room.
When you opened her bedroom door you found her trembling "Sam?" you called out but she didn't answer so you left her door ajar so you can get a better look at her. "Sam?" you called again and when you got closer she tried to tackle you to the floor "Sam!" you yell as you push her off of you before straddling her so you can restrain her wrists, so she wouldn’t hurt you. That was when you noticed that she’s having a night terror her eyelids were locked while her eyes moved underneath them “Samantha” you whisper calmly before releasing one of her wrists so you can rub the back of your knuckles against her cheek to coax her out of her dream and it works. Her movements cease and you were almost afraid to say her name again until you hear her start to cry. The mere sound of Sam crying broke your heart, causing you to loosen your grip on her other wrist rather quickly before bringing her up for a hug which Sam reciprocated. While you're hugging Sam on the floor you feel her tears lightly soak the shirt she gave you, so you gave her your shoulder to lean on as you kissed the top of her head "Shhh Sam I've got you, I won't let anything to happen you" you say while hugging her tightly and rocking Sam back and forth while she's holding onto you like she was going to disappear. “Shhh” you coo as you went from rocking back and forth before coming to a halt so you can slide your fingers through her hair leaning the side of your head against hers in an attempt to calm her down further, giving her room for silence and allowing yourselves to listen to the sounds around you. This causes Sam to take in every sound that she could possibly pick up, like the sound of the cars driving by, the light footsteps of people walking, the light hum of a lamp post not far from the building, your heartbeat, and the sound of you breathing. As Sam calmed down you slowly tried to pull yourself away from her to give her space, but she was hesitant to let you go as she now had her arms wrapped around your waist in an attempt to hide the shame and embarrassment that she was feeling, until you said something to her. “It’s okay Sam, I’m just going to get up so I can bring you to your bed” you say to her softly as Sam nods as you run your fingers through her hair again for reassurance and as you both get up from the ground you say to Sam “Give me a second to fix your bed,” before fixing her bed while Sam stood behind you. When you are done, you turn around to get her not expecting her to be so close as you look up at her, noticing how the moon lit up her bedroom highlighting Sam's features showing you the bags under her eyes, her tear-stained cheeks, and a faraway look in her gaze as she looks down at you, so you brought your hands up to cup her face bringing her back to you while rubbing her cheeks with the pads of your thumbs before helping her get back into her bed and before laying beside her as she finally sleeps comfortably while you stay awake not being able to go back to sleep.

My family consists of seven members: my father lyad Ismail (53 years old), my mother Faten Ismail (48 years old), my sister Saja Ismail (26 years old) and her son Alaa (7 months old), my brother Ahmed Ismail (23 years old), and my little sister (9 years old) en my uncle has quadriplegia (64years old) , We lived a simple life, but one filled with dreams and aspirations.
“Pursuing a Bright Future: Our Dreams Were Cut Short by the Outbreak of War"
The Beginning of the Crisis
On January 5, 2024, 2 months after the war began, my family was forced to flee our home. During our escape from El maghazi Camp to Rafah, our house was destroyed by an airstrike. My sister lost her husband, leaving her with their five-day-old son after just one year of marriage. Our car, which contained all our essential documents and savings, was also destroyed in the attack.
"Our beloved home, once a sanctuary of joy, now lies in ruins, leaving us heartbroken."
Daily Challenges
In Rafah, my family faced exorbitant rent prices of $1,500 per month for a tiny room, and now my family returned again to Elmaghazi camp Their living conditions are extremely challenging. My family live in one cramped space that serves them their kitchen, bathroom, and sleeping area. The room is infested with insects, making it unsanitary, and my young nephew has difficulty breathing in this environment.
My little sister had to abandon her studies, and my brother Ahmed, who had just graduated before the war, saw his newly started career come to an abrupt halt.
Their daily lives have become a relentless fight for survival.
"These are the harsh conditions we face every day as we try to endure this war."
Hope and Resilience
Every day we wake up with a glimmer of hope that the war will end, though fear remains ever-present. We are determined to overcome this ordeal and return to our normal lives. We need your help to secure medical care for our family, resume our education, and rebuild our tuture.
• To note: Aladdin Aladdin Imad Ismail is a child no more than 7 months old who was born during this war and his father was killed during it and he became an orphan.
• To note: Sahman Ahmed Abdel Rahman Ismail is a man suffering from quadriplegia and needs continuous treatments and constant follow-up by doctors, and most of his medicine is not available in Gaza in these difficult times, not to mention the lack of hospitals in light of the current conditions
A Plea for Help
We desperately need your assistance. Any support you can provide, whether financial or emotional, will make a significant impact on our lives. Please share our story and help us raise funds to evacuate to Egypt and find safety.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for any help you can offer. Your kindness and generosity in these trying times will never be forgotten.
Thank you,
Abdallah Ismail
Please donate to their gofundme and help this family get out of Gaza!

That was some more excitement we did not need.
Dumbass here just managed to short out a 21700 battery, of all fucking things, a little while ago. They are relatively big, they hold a lot of energy by Li-ion cell standards, and they are potentially VERY full of fire and explosion.
So yeah, working with loose Li-ion cells all the time and knowing my battery safety? (Seriously, if you want to learn a lot about that, check out that guy's YouTube channel. If you ever mess with loose lithium cells for any reason, this electrical engineer is your new best friend.)
I did notice a tear in the insulator wrap on one, but did I replace it immediately? 😩 "It'll be fine for the moment."
It was not, in fact, fine.
I then compounded this error by proceeding to charge the thing. On the way out of the charger, freshly refilled with spiciness, was when I managed to short it. Because of course I did.
No actual harm done, though, and no dramatic video like with that power bank incident years back. I was right there holding the charger when it started venting and starting to smoke. I unplugged the charger as soon as I heard worrying noises, and carefully carrying the whole thing at arm's length toward the bathroom and its big solid containment vessel just in case. In the absence of any convenient bucket of sand.
This is a slightly more complicated task when you're using a manual wheelchair, do not have a Hindu iconography number of arms, and also need to pop small wheelies over thresholds in your house. So, I called for Mr. C as calmly as my excitable ass could manage, informing him that we had a battery situation andto PLEASE bring first himself and second an extinguisher. (Which I know he has somewhere in his little lair. I couldn't safely get to the kitchen one right then.)
So yeah, then we played pass the threatening charger, and he promptly ferried it and dislodged the battery into the tub. After it had calmed down enough after a couple minutes, he actually settled on taping it to the end of a wooden stick to carry it down and temporarily stash it in one of the grills outside until he was sure it was safe to dispose of more properly.
I did appreciate the prompt cool response and assistance from someone who knew what they were doing. And the lack of bitching after things had calmed down enough for me to say what had happened. (Which I probably would have just kept to myself, if I was not expecting that kind of reception.)
As it was? There was no need for the extinguisher, or eventual cleanup from that. I don't think there were actual flames at any point. Nobody got hurt. .
That charger is toast, we needed to open some windows for a while in chilly weather, and everybody here got jolts of adrenaline they weren't looking for. That was thankfully the worst that happened.
I guess any moral of this little story would have to be that, if you're going to be handling high-powered especially loose Li-ion cells? Please be careful and educate yourself about how to do it as safely as you can. Please DO NOT do like me and turn overconfident.
Also, please make sure you have some plan in case things should suddenly go south. If you manage to catch a problem promptly, it might hopefully just turn into an unwanted adrenaline and toxic fumes situation like this one, rather than something much worse in potentially painful incendiary ways.

Bailey, Leighton, both weak spots for me. If you wanted to share any thoughts, any lewd disgusting thoughts or random ideas you'd had about those two I'm more than willing to listen
Oho-ho, you came to the right place.
So here's the thing:
Bailey and Leighton are both absolutely repugnant, reprehensible characters. Most people in this game are abhorrent, yes, but these ones strike a special note with me for a few reasons, namely authority-- and the abuse of it.
Bailey's label is 'Caretaker.' He's the closest thing to a father that you have, presumably raising you since before you can remember. He's a dark mirror into what a parent should be. Where there should be unconditional love, affection, and trust, he provides exploitation, cruelty, and despair. He has absolutely zero qualms with quite literally selling you and your fellows to the debauched denizens of the town and subjecting you to one of the worst experiences that a human can physically go through, and he does it on a dime. Even other terrifying people in town seem petrified by him, and that should give a clue to how awful he really is.
Leighton is the 'Headmaster.' He is charged with your education and safety during the mandatory hours you attend his institution. He is arguably responsible for the success and the happy-ever-after of every student under his charge. Instead, he uses this power to sexually exploit the defenseless people under his care. There are multiple people over town with lingering trauma from his actions, including Daryll, and even Mickey, who has become a paranoid recluse largely in part to these actions, and has you get rid of the evidence of this abuse.
It makes these two particularly disturbing. Remy, Briar, all of the rest of them are disgusting, but they aren't beholden to you in any manner. I suppose it could be argued that Harper, as your GP, is also doing this, but it doesn't quite feel to the same degree to me.
Now, in reality, I can be counted on to be a thorn in the side of any authority figure. I have a real issue with it, and I do not like being controlled or told what to do.
In a sexual sense though?
Listen, something in my brain must've gotten twisted up along the way to adulthood because nothing gets my engine going quite like someone abusing authority. Fucked up to say, perhaps, but it is what it is. Maybe it's part of being the world's biggest brat, but who knows.
There is something enticing and utterly terrifying about it.
Bailey has access to you at your most vulnerable. It is only through him that you have a roof over your head, food to eat, and a bed to sleep in. He's a stern man who brooks no argument. You could say he's mostly the main antagonist; the one keeping you from any semblance of peace or happiness in this town by seeking you out and keeping you on a leash that he's got firmly wrapped around his hand. He isn't openly lustful-- quite the opposite, in fact. He probably has a 'I will not fuck my ward, I will not fuck my ward' mantra he repeats in his head.
Your presence is required at school, and Leighton will use any and all opportunities to exploit that, and he isn't shy about telling you. While not as much of an active antagonist as Bailey, he certainly is as evil. He seems to revel in using his position to meet his own.. uh.. "ends" and you aren't his only target in doing so.
Bailey is more difficult to provoke than Leighton. It requires a high ass seduction check to even get into the position of seducing him, and even higher skills to get him off. He wants to see you first and foremost as a cheque to be cashed, and he makes a point not to muddy his hands in the goods if he can help it. However, if you squint, all the signs are there that he isn't immune to your siren's call.
When you call, he comes running. Scream in the bathroom? Oh, he's fuckin' there. Disappear for a little bit too long? He seeks you out. You're a grown ass adult and his method of punishment is... bending you over his desk to spank you? If you do manage to seduce him, I think he lets a bit more slip than he actually intends to, saying things like "You've always belonged to me" and other possessive sentiments (most especially if you lose your virginity to him) that sort of give away that he's clearly thought about this more than once and is seriously going to indulge now that he finally has you.
Leighton on the other hand? Leighton wears his lust on his sleeve.
If you step foot in the brothel (whether to work there or just to get yourself a shiny fake ID,) Leighton is fuckin' quick on the draw to grab you, which tells me he's had his eye on you for a while. If you proceed to work at the brothel, he hires you the moment he sees you. Annoy him for even a second at school? It's spanking time. Be a little bit of a rascal at school? Get your tits out and lather 'em up! You're washing his car while he watches and twitches because he can't openly attack you here. Try to defend Sydney and say you'll take a part of the punishment? My man practically crawls out of his skin right then and there.
He has a high level of self-control, but it is easily possible to drive that man up a wall with the right actions, and it's pretty apparent from the get-go that he has his sights set on you in less than appropriate ways. Thing is, he really won't act outright similar to Bailey. He's more a voyeur than anything, preferring to watch and document rather than actually take part. It seems like a control thing for me, and also probably so he has dirt on everyone else while keeping his own hands relatively clean, but like with most things, I bend parts of the character in my mind to suit my tastes.
They're both difficult to outright seduce. They're both controlling, hideous fiends that abuse their vulnerable charges. They're monsters. Powerful monsters capable of foul, dastardly things.
Can you imagine being the weak point of that monster?

I feel so helpless right now. Is it even worth contacting local politicians? Should we form the anti John Birch Society or something?
Hi friend. Same, same. And the House is still in flux, but there's a possibility that Trump has all three branches (white house, both chambers of Congress, and the Supreme Court) for at least the next two years. It's really fucking bad. I am so disgusted with seventy one million voters.
But you're exactly right that getting involved in local politics and your local community is a fantastic way to do the next right thing, the next needed thing. So very much happens at the local level and most people don't pay any attention to it. Look around your community. What makes your heart sing or your blood boil? Chase that.
Is it ensuring schools teach all kids accurate information? School lunches for kids? Show up to your local school board meeting and listen to what they're up to. There's probably an advocacy org already fighting for the things you want - learn from them, share your ideas and energy, volunteer, talk to your community about that issue, then advocate to your local leaders.
Volunteer in your local schools - schools are all underfunded and need help. You will need to get fingerprinted and have a background check (the school will tell you how), and then you can help in the library or the lunch line, or correcting spelling tests for overworked teachers.
Local resources like housing or libraries or parks or playgrounds etc? Your community has some sort of governing body - mayor? Council? Board? and they have public meetings. Go figure out what entity runs your town and find the meeting agenda, which will be public. Go to a meeting on a topic you care about. It could be really small, like more lighting in the park at night so kids can play in the evenings and people can walk their dogs. Or getting the parks and rec to clean the bathrooms more often. Or spend more money on libraries. Or more crosswalks and curb cuts to increase pedestrian safety. Or oppose a new strip mall. What do you care about? Listen to the meeting, read the meeting presentation deck, connect with others who care about that thing, and raise awareness. Listen to folks who have been working on this issue, share your thoughts, and advocate for change.
Reproductive Justice? Volunteer for your local planned parenthood to walk patients from their cars to the clinic and cover them with love and strength. Support medically accurate health education in schools.
Lgbtqia? Again, planned parenthood, or Trevor project or human rights campaign will have links to orgs in your area. Be an active ally for the queer community.
Immigration and DACA? There are fantastic orgs in most communities. Can you help mentor a new refugee family? Work in a DACA clinic to help kids with paperwork? Help teach English literacy at your local library? Raise your voice to local leaders that you support your diverse community.
What's the next needed thing in your community? What privileges do you have and how can you leverage them? There are many good choices, creating small changes that will have a really big impact on perks in your community. Find out who is in charge of what in your community, and show up to a public meeting about a thing you care about. Talk to people in your community about that thing.
We are not powerless. Michelle Obama told us to Do Something. Let's Do Something in our communities, let's find the next right thing, the next needed thing, and get into it.
Hugs, friend.

Not dysphoric culture, sorry, but does mod have any tips on socially transitioning, especially in school? I’m not even out yet, but I like to make plans for what I’m gonna do to make me feel less stuck in the closet, but I’ve only ever really thought about medical transition and don’t really know how to go about socially transitioning. (Afab, nonbinary, want to be perceived as neutral/masculine, if that’s any help)
Don’t apologize anon, mod is here to (try) to give advice!
Mod actually came out at school a couple of years ago (a conservative middle/high school where mod was one of the first publicly out not binary people) so. Here is some stuff.
Support:
Find a good friend group, and ideally also a decent guidance counselor who will not out you before you’re ready
Some fake friends will continue to misgender and deadname you. If this continues for months on end and you keep reminding them, they may not be a real friend
Meet other queer and trans people in your school! Join a GSA/acceptance club if there’s one! Find a trans person in your school that’s older than you and ask them for advice!!
Older trans people in your school can sometimes help you buy gender-affirming products (ex: if they can have it shipped to their house and can use their card, and then you pay them back in cash, for safety reasons etc) or queer merch.
If you want your name and gender marker to be changed in the school’s system you often have to go through the guidance department. Depending on where you live you do not need parental consent for this and do not let the guidance department bully you into it. You shouldn't need a court order either
Google classroom/digitization of education has made life harder for trans students because you will see the wrong name and pronouns listed everywhere. Schools with ID cards have this problem but worse because even if you cover up the name with a sticker, whenever your ID is scanned it will out you. Some places even require students to scan IDs to use the bathroom- a double nightmare for trans students.
Student pictures are cringe. Try to dress as gender-affirming as possible for picture day and remember that you’re likely only being photographed from the shoulders up (chest dysphoria = not your biggest problem)
Not all school systems have a nonbinary marker. Mod’s school pretended not to have one and it took some digging and anxious waiting to get one (mod has since gotten it, is one of the first students in the school’s history to have one, and is spreading resources to other trans and nonbinary students in the school community). For you anon if you can’t get an X/O/N/etc marker you can get a M, which may not be completely accurate but it might make you less dysphoric as compared to a F
Yearbooks might have pre-transition photos of you or even elementary school photos of you so try to speak to someone on the yearbook committee/club about it. Senior year in general can be a nightmare if you’re trans/nb because so many pictures are taken of you and a lot of old photos/letters are dug up
The uncomfortable stuff:
You need to use the bathroom especially if you do after-school activities. This is non-negotiable and far too many trans people (especially transmascs + nonbinary people who were AFAB) get UTIs by avoiding the bathroom all day. Using a public bathroom may be dysphoria inducing but having to see a urologist/gynecologist is much worse. But it’s true that school bathrooms suck! Find one that is the least suck-y (clean, not used very often, ideally gender-neutral) and try to use that one. Not all schools have a gender neutral bathroom, and the ones that do may only have one dirty, single-person bathroom for the entire school (like mod’s). For your case specifically anon if you feel you pass well enough/don’t pass but have enough support at school you can try to use the men’s room. The thing about using the men’s restroom is you have to walk in with confidence (fake confidence is okay too!) and act unbothered.
Mod has never heard of a gender-neutral school locker room, at least below the college level, ever. The good thing is that a lot of students no longer have to change for gym, or that some schools will give nonbinary students the option of changing in the gender neutral bathroom instead. (At mod’s school, their ‘nonbinary inclusive’ policy [which likely did not exist until mod asked about it] is that nonbinary students can choose which gendered locker room they’d like to use! How very inclusive and totally not avoiding the problem! [sarcasm]) You can ask a gym teacher to keep your bag in their office or leave your bag in the gym to avoid the locker rooms.
Your peers:
They might be transphobic, they might be supportive, or they might just not care. Either way they will probably misgender you purely because they knew you pre-transition. Mod has people in school that mod went to elementary school with and many of them are literally the worst. It's a horrible feeling to know that some people will always see you as [deadname and what your AGAB was] even if you 'pass' or correct people. But unless you transfer to another school there is nothing you can do about that.
Just find people who support you, ideally fellow trans people, and ignore those guys.
Transitioning:
You've probably seen a bunch of tips for gender presentation and might have done some already. For masculine/masc-leaning neutral some are: men's clothing, shorter hair, makeup to contour, binding/packing, layered clothing, etc. Some behavioral changes are voice training (do not rely only on T to change your voice if that's your plan!), taking on more masculine speech patterns, walking more confidently, exercising (target certain areas to create a more masculine shape), etc.
The actual coming out part:
Coming out is scary. Friends can encourage you, but you also have to come out to them first.
Most teachers mod has talked to about being queer have been at least polite/tolerant about it. There hasn’t been any outright hostility, but there has been more subtle transphobia. And mod uses neopronouns in a conservative place! The only major issue was when mod sent a teacher an email about mod’s pronouns + nb inclusive curriculum and he sent the email to the principal without asking (wild stuff. He agreed to use they/them for mod, but also denied taking responsibility for his curriculum excluding queer people).
If you want to come out at school but not at home, you can email/talk to your teachers in person and tell them to call you ___ in school and your deadname/wrong pronouns in front of your parents. Some counselors will email your teachers for you if you’re scared of your parents reading your emails/searching your device
You can write your chosen name almost wherever you want! You do not need it changed it the system to use it and especially if you’re writing on paper you can use it.
You are your biggest advocate! You need to get really good at standing up for yourself. Catering to or being nice to transphobes will usually not help you. You will probably need to push people: 'my pronouns are ____' not 'I prefer ____', 'what is the policy on nonbinary students, and if one doesn't exist how are we going to make one' not 'is there a nonbinary policy', 'I will wear the _____ uniform' not 'is it ok for trans people to wear the _____ uniform', 'call me ____' not 'um I have a preferred name and it's ____ is that okay', 'how will you make room for me' not 'can you make room for me' etc. It is not rude to be assertive! Transphobes will call you rude for simply existing in a way they don't like. Make sure to be clear about what you need and don't give them room to evade your requests. Nonbinary students who will come to your school several years from now will thank you.
It’s good that you’re planning ahead for coming out anon because that can make it less overwhelming, but overthinking can also really get you. If planning your coming out (which may or may not happen soon) starts to only stress you out and not give you any joy then you maybe need to take a break.
There's a lot more stuff but this is just a general overview so if you have more specific questions please send in another ask! Good luck anon!

23 - Discrimination (Yeah I went there)
Tumblr media
[Text in image is as below]
i) Species;
a) All Sentient Species recognised by Mandalorian Law are completely within right to be adopted, adopt, and live within Mandalore, and Mandalorian Society. b) If a Species wishes to be added to the data base, a General Notice for Recognition can be applied for through the Mandalorian Archive of Galactic Sentients. The Mandalorian Archive of Galactic Sentients will also keep in check genealogy to take notice of the rare cases of possible gene modification and cloning. The Mandalorian Archive of Galactic Sentients is the official government and information authority for all occasions regarding inter-species law in Mandalorian Space. c) Sentient Species cannot be outlawed from sectors or systems – Mandalorian Law stresses the difference between a Species, and its local Governments. For example, a fleeing Zygerrian is not guilty of the crimes of the Zygerrian Empire. d) Sentient Species cannot be barred entry into clubs, pubs or venues due to their species. e) Sentient Species cannot be required or told by schools, family, or others to physically alter traits and physical features that do not cause harm. For example, a Zabracki shall not be demanded to wear a headdress to attend classes for the safety of other students.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Text in images is as below]
ii) Sex;
a) Mandalorian Law recognises separate biological sexes for all documented species under the Mandalorian Archive of Galactic Sentients. b) Mandalore recognises the separate sexes, sub-sexes, and individual genders within the Species Codex held by the Bounty Hunter Guild Associations. c) Mandalore retains its right to utilise the genderless and sexless terms and wordings in day-to-day use. d) Medical Professionals, and those whose services require said information are the only beings within Mandalore allowed to require a response to request of an individual’s sex, species, and gender information. e) Job applications and education shall not require confirmation of sex or gender for acceptance or application. f) Mandalore and the Mandalorian Sector practices the use of a multitude of private and communal refreshers – schools in the Mandalorian sector will tend to have two segregated bathrooms for the two more common humanoid sexes, a disabled bathroom, a unisex bathroom, and the communal bathrooms utilised in most military settings. Individual sectors can offer a differing, or greater range of choices – for example, Ordo Minor, which has the selection of disabled bathrooms, individual bathrooms, and the communal bathrooms with no segregation of any sort. g) Married Mandalorians are not required to inform anyone of their or their spouse’s gender or sex. h) Sex work in Mandalore falls under the Fair Work Acts, and is acceptable under strict and heavily monitored conditions. A Mando’ade who worked in this sector of business is permitted to apply to other forms of employment. Attempts to block applications and transfers of employment is both discriminatory to the Mando’ade’s financial freedoms and their sexual freedoms.
iii) Religious Interpretation;
 a) Incomplete
Tumblr media
[Text in image is as below]
iv) Language;
a) Mando’a’s multitude of accepted forms are not to be excluded, impeded or banned in any way within Mandalorian Space. b) Mando’a is to be taught at every school in Mandalorian Space in the sector’s most common forms. c) No Mando’ade should be barred in any way from learning Mando’a. d) Speaking a Freed language is a protected right, and those found guilty of excluding or discriminating those speaking or who have spoken Freed language fall under Sentient Discrimination and can face charges at both Mandalorian and Galactic Courts. e) Speaking Basic is not banned in any way, but it is not a specific requirement to graduate, educate, be credited or to have a job. f) Basic cannot be a prerequisite in jobs that do not have any relevance to the speaking of the language. For example, a mechanic does not need to speak fluid Basic to practice on Ordo Prime or Manda’yaim. g) Learning to speak, read and write is a Right, not a privilege, and those barring students for financial reasons either in low or high levels of education will be held to account under Mandalorian Law. Learning languages in Mandalore is a Protected Right, and not to be interfered with by external pressures. h) Clan Foundlings wishing to continue to learn their pre-adoption language is a protected right under Mandalorian Law. Foundlings will not be punished for use of their pre-adoption languages.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Text in image is as below]
v) Ability;
a) All Clan members, regardless of their capacity or ability to fight, are crucial to Clan Welfare. b) Clan members, or Mando’ade who are visually or verbally impaired should have allocations made for their comfort and to ease participation in day-to-day life. This includes species that routinely have these impairments, for example, nocturnal species being allowed to be as active as they require at their biologically required hours. c) Clan members, Mando’ade or warriors who have been injured to the point of being removed from combat have completed a great service for their Clan and their community, and any discrimination or exclusion of these Mando’ade is punishable by law. d) Mando’ade born with non-life-threatening defects are to be treated as ordinary Mando’ade under Mandalorian Law. e) Mando’ade born with life-threatening birth defects are catered for under the Public Health Acts, and can even be served at external hospitals around the galaxy under the Mandalorian Resources and Children Protectorate. Parents can make direct calls for assistance to the Mandalorian Protectors, and can expect near immediate response and support in the occasion of life-threatening illness or injury. This is a right under Mandalorian Law. f) Mandalorians with movement impairments, mental impairment and illness, and other neurological discrepancies are protected under Mandalorian Law. In the event of a Neurological Unsound Mando’ade hurting a child, the Mano’ade risks becoming institutionalised. g) Those of impaired, separated, different nature or disposition, and disability are completely able to be charged with serious offences. However, much like criminal justice, intent must be proved for charges such as ‘murder,’ or the charge will simply be held as high degree grievous assault and manslaughter. Ability Impaired Mandalorians will still face a firing squad if found guilty of War Crimes, Child Abuse, or Sexual Assault. h) Mando’ade that cannot live by themselves can either select, or have a carer selected for them out of their Clan or Community that passes Health and Carer Training and Psychological Evaluations. The selection will take place after their diagnosis with impairment. If a Clan member has already been acting as the Mando’ade’s carer, provisioning will be made for that Clan member to have access to appropriate resources and training without separating the Carer from their charge.
[Again, if anyone has any criticism, I am open to any form of assistance you can provide. Sections like this are close to my heart, as I have members of my family who cannot give informed consent, or have a disability that stops them from being able to hold a job. When the time comes, I'm hoping to link a master post for disability and medical beskar'gam symbols to this post so that disabled verde can colour and pattern their armour appropiately, and have it understood.]

COD characters (men or women is fine) w/ a reader who has an eating disorder? I’m not trying to romanticize it btw, I have an eating disorder and I kinda need comfort about it. Thank you! <3
(I also love ur writing!)
EACH EACH 141 MEMBER WOULD REACT TO AN EATING DISORDER...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
WARNINGS: mentions of eating disorder and the symptoms. this is for comfort, and not to romanticize it. gn!reader. mentions of bmi being <18.5 to describe someone being underweight.
a/n; i mentioned different eating disorders for each character (excluding price) since i know that anorexia isn't the only eating disorder, and if anyone wants a different eating disorder to be talked about. THANK YOU ALSO!! i'm glad you're enjoying my posts, and i hope you manage to get better, or hopefully this comforts you. 🫶
eating disorder hotline - if you need someone to talk to. <3
Tumblr media
༉‧₊˚. PRICE (no specific eating disorder mentioned)
i view price as a very fatherly type of man, something about him seems comforting. he'll encourage you into recovery, but won't force it apon you as he realises that could make it worse for your mental sake. of course he wants you physically healthy, but he has to think about your mental health and sudden body changes could affect you.
sitting in his car for some privacy, pulling you onto his lap while he sits in the drivers seat. his hands massage your scalp, covering the crown of your head with his large, calloused hand and pushing it into his warm chest. he worries for your sake and decides to keep you off missions to not put any stress on your body.
༉‧₊˚. SOAP (bulimia)
johnny knows you've been struggling with an eating disorder. how you excuse yourself to the bathroom 10 minutes after eating, chugging water. he also notices your jaw, how it's swollen, your lips puffy and how you seem more exhausted after standing up. john attempts to help you, he's not educated on eating disorders fully so he does some research to figure out the best way to help you.
it's through comfort. any foods that you feel comfortable with, he'll eat with you, even if it's something he hates. johnny's hearts breaks when he see's you getting anxious, the minutes passing and the opportunity to throw up slowly fading away as you begin digesting it. if you use exercise to substitute, he'd slowly decrease the hours. either by watching a movie with you or entertaining you with something, anything to keep you from overexercising yourself.
༉‧₊˚. GAZ (anorexia with a bmi less than 18.5)
he notices how you begin limiting your food intake. it starts off with removing a few pieces, before he see's you limiting more and more, explaining that you'd already ate, or felt too sick to finish your meal. he's worried, he knows that you're struggling, he can see how tired you are; your iron levels dropping, fainting and getting dizzy when you stand up, hair loss and weightloss.

Policy 8040 was what allowed a TIM to access a girls restroom and sexually assault a classmate. But sure start with a quote from a male student uncomfortable with girls walking in while showering
LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. (7News) — On Wednesday, students at Woodgrove High School walked out of school in protest of the Loudoun County School Board’s policy that allows nonbinary, gender fluid and transgender students to use the school bathrooms and locker rooms of their choice.
“In the locker rooms in the morning it's an invasion of privacy, as I said because when men and natural-born males are in our locker rooms and they are showering in the morning, natural-born females can walk in there as they please,” one male high school student told 7News. “And that is not OK. And it goes against what we believe in.”
In 2021, the Loudoun County School Board voted 7 to 2 to adopt the district-wide policy known as Policy 8040.
But some students have had enough and want the policy reversed.
“I would like to be able when I get off football practice and go put my pads away and change not feel uncomfortable with other genders in there watching me,” another male student told 7News. “I feel that girls feel the same way about the situation. How would you feel if you were a female changing with a male?”
7News spoke to a female student who said she stopped using the bathroom at school because of Policy 8040.
“It's a massive safety risk, and they [LCPS] don't do anything about it,” the female student told 7News. “And we express these concerns and they ignore us and write us off as right-wing crazies. We're not crazy. We just don't want to be in danger on a daily basis in this building. I think it's people finally stepping up and just being sick of it. We're sick of being here and just being completely ignored. I stopped using them [the bathrooms] because I don't know what's going to happen to me in there. And people can be like, 'Oh, well, that's paranoid'. I'm telling you right now half the women in this building feel the same way. We don't use the bathrooms. We hold our pee until we can't. I mean, there are girls in PE [Physical Education class] who still get changed in the bathroom stalls in there because they're afraid of who might waltz in.”

Across the street during the students' rally, a smaller group of counter-protestors waived pride flags.
“I’m here to support all of the children,” one of the counter-protestors told 7News. “No matter who they are. Yours, mine, all of them.”

About 50-100 students walked out of Woodgrove High School asking the school board to restore girls-only and boys-only locker rooms, showers and bathrooms in schools.
“It should be the entire school [walking out],” one student said.
“But there are a lot of people who are scared to speak out against it so they stayed inside because they don't want to see the backlash,” another student continued.
7News asked LCPS if the superintendent is going to reverse Policy 8040.
“The Loudoun County School Board is continuing to follow its established process in its review of the latest Model Policies issued by the Virginia Department of Education. Policy 8040 is in review along with the new Model Policies, by the Student Services Committee,” LCPS said in a statement.
7News has heard from students at Woodgrove High School who wanted to participate in the student walkout Wednesday morning to restore girls-only and boys-only bathrooms and locker rooms, but the students were discouraged by their teachers.

the american public school system is going places
....and it sure isn't anywhere good. warning: gun, attempted murder, & sexual assault mentions yes, this is a rant. if this is illegible to you, then congratulations, you're experiencing what it's like to read my fellow students writing.
lemme tell you all about the failure of an education system mine is. because trust me, it's bad.
ENGLISH & MATH 1------------------- There were kids in my 8TH GRADE language arts class who got stumped on a really hard word. the word? AVALANCHE. you know, the word meaning, at it's simplest, THINGS LIKE ROCKS AND SNOW FALLING DOWN A MOUNTAIN we had to do these two programs because the kids in the ENTIRE SCHOOL SYSTEM were so far behind "because of covid" the programs were one math and one LA, and we were told "students who show they don't need it will stop at some point while students who do will be taken out" these interfered with our actual learning. that's right, they did these IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR CLASSES. AND THEY NEVER EVEN STOPPED. like most of the kids didn't even do them in the first place we weren't allowed to listen to music while we did it. we were required to sit in SILENCE as we did these shitshows, which hindered a LOT of kids because some of us need sound to be able to focus. the english program told me that the verb "serve" (as in, to serve in the military) was not a verb. the math program forced you to do math their way, which is really bad when you've got kids who are able to do that same math a different way and are being marked as failures for no fucking reason. oh yeah, and the school computers have grammarly installed. by the admins. the administrators installed grammarly on our computers and set them up. they're encouraging us to use grammarly. the school.

[ID: An image labeled "Extensions", listing extensions on a school computer installed by the school administrators. The extensions included in the image are "Equatio," "Gaggle," "GoGuardian," "GoGuardian License," "Google Docs Offline," Google Keep Chrome Extension," and "Grammarly: AI Writing and..." End ID.] SCHOOL SAFETY 2------------------- PFFT SAFETY, MY ASS fun fact: there was a bag of ammunition found on the track, and i'm pretty sure a gun in a car. did they send us home once they found out there was no immediate threat? no. did they move us to safer locations when the discovery of such items was made? no. there's been rumors that kids that have been expelled last year are returning this year. those kids are expelled for reasons like attempted murder and sexual assault. and people are saying they're coming back. i'll update this if they do or not.
TEACHERS AND DISCIPLINE 3------------------------------ like school safety, discipline doesn't exist. or, it does, but it's so weak because i guess the school is afraid of upsetting parents or something, they don't actually punish kids the way they need to, and punish kids who don't need to be punished (you come to class late again because you were in the bathroom because we don't let you go for the first twenty minutes of class? lunch detention for you.), and seemingly have never heard of the term "praise" before. this leads to kids not caring and giving up, because there's no reason to try and the punishments mean nothing. teachers are quitting their jobs left and right because they just can't deal with the kids being disruptive and not doing their work because they can get away with it no matter how strict or lenient the teacher is. this is a problem for students who actually try, because now we can't focus, we get bad grades, we're grouped with the students who purposely don't learn, and now we don't care either and don't see the point in trying to learn anymore. one of the counselors place blame on hurting students. the person kids are expected to talk to when having a hard time (and required to have as their counselor by some stupid rule) is practically telling students their struggles are all their fault. i've heard a girl was raped and she was told it was her fault by that counselor. and the admins didn't stop to think for even a second "hey maybe we shouldn't keep this counselor, they're kinda sorta not doing their job" SCHEDULE 4----------- last year, they changed the middle school schedule to "match the high school" this meant we have five minutes to get to each class (not needed when 90% of your classes are five tiles across the hall), classes are an hour at most (one of the classes was an 1:30 instead of 1 hour) since classes are so much shorter, teachers can't even get through all of their lessons or even all of their UNITS before the school year ends. CONCLUSION 5-------------- now, let's do some thinking, something i don't think any of the kids in this damned school do. with the lack of safety, reason to try, inability to finish the units we need to finish, and failure to teach kids effectively, what do you think that causes? if you guessed "under-educated adults", you're correct! congratulations!

Personal rant time: Right now the United States is seeing a huge erosion in small childcare centers, particularly family run centers which are unable to contend with the lack of teachers and care providers, as well as enormous demands from government licensing. It's going to lead to an uptick in corporate centers because many states do not acknowledge preschool as an imperative. This is terrible for working class families, especially those who don't work during the day and who rely on family centers. Parents will either have to quit, or use under the table childcare that's not been properly vetted. This is again because of the belief that raising children is a mother's job, and a push back against women entering the workforce. The work is continuously undervalued, and there is no appreciation for people who work with young children. Early Childhood Education is across the board, one of the lowest paying degrees a person can get. This had lead to the staffing crisis, it's lead to centers being shut down, and parents waking up to find out they're going to have to quit their jobs because there's no centers near them with any room. And while this is what a lot of conservatives want, the problem is we've hit a point where families with two working parents is a necessity for most people. Mother's can't just quit and rely on their husbands income. It is not possible.
Inside centers too, the demands put on teachers (a largely female workforce) is really unreasonable. Our hours often go over what are agreed upon, we're often pressured to work sick, and you'd be shocked to hear how many teachers have wet themselves on the job because using the bathroom meant leaving children unattended and there was no one available to get them a break. We're also micromanaged to hell and back because nobody seems to understand we're professionals who were trained in child care. Everything we do falls under immense scrutiny, and there's not a lot of protection for us. A lot of teachers also feel pressured to stay in their jobs because leaving could mean the center shuts down due to lack of staff.
Strict regulations also make it awful on the children. I once had a teacher who worked with largely autistic children, children with down's syndrome, or children with cerebral palsy, and she said that when she started, licensing regulations essentially stipulated the children be strapped in a car seat in an empty room with no toys. She had to fight tooth and nail to get children blocks and outside time and a classroom pet, only to retire and have all of the materials she'd worked to get be removed the second she was gone. I work at a center right now that says any book with a tear in it should be considered unusable and it's making it difficult to find books to read for my class, let alone toys that meet all the strict regulations. Which in the case of family centers, being unable to meet all of these demands often means being closed and families losing their childcare. (It should be noted corporate day cares are not held to the same standards as small private day cares. I worked at a corporate center where children were being served expired food.) And the biggest victims in all of this are the children. Like, what does it say about us that childcare centers are closing in mass and children are being pushed out of the public sphere that much more? That we're so concerned about the safety of children we've taken away their books and toys and pushed them back into their homes. The ability to have safe childcare is going to be restricted to the upper class and even they are going to be fighting tooth and nail over what little resources are left. Meanwhile, working class families could be forced to use a dangerous under the table center or have to uproot their entire family to make ends meet. It is legitimately a crisis. Childcare is a necessity, it is something we cannot neglect. Support universal preschool, volunteer at small centers if you can, and advocate for regulation that protects workers and children vs. regulation that continues to restrict childcare.
