Evaluation Questions Voiceover
VOICEOVER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTGjGwtFLfs&feature=youtu.be
TRANSCRIPT:
INTRODUCTION: To demonstrate my understanding of technology, I am using technology (in the form of a voiceover and images) to help articulate my evaluation posts, which have been previously completed and uploaded onto my blog.
RESEARCH: The research phase has improved and changed in several ways from AS. At AS level, research involved analysing 15 opening sequences of varying genres, analysing title screens (Saul Bass works in particular), getting answers to a questionnaire and analysing that, too. Key concepts-narrative, cinematography, etc.-to improve my opening sequence over time, and in turn make my work level 4 (the highest grade possible).
At A2, my research has been a lot more in-depth; as well as the main task (the 5 minute short film), there are now two ancillary tasks that must also be completed- a film poster and a magazine page feature advertising the film. This required both my knowledge from my GCSE coursework as well as my more refined editing skills in Photoshop that I have accumulated over the years.
Theories that were introduced at GCSE have also returned; Todorov’s narrative theory, Propp’s character theory, Strauss’ binary opposites theory and Barthes’ codes theory being the most prevalent; these are all useful for my task as it is a film and includes all of these aspects in one form or another. These theories were not as explored at AS level, which is proof that my A2 is more in-depth in comparison.
Intertextuality was also key during the research phase, as media-music and films especially-overlaps with other forms of art in many places. There was a choice between a photographer, painter or auteur to study the style of, as these are all closely linked to both films and music videos-the two main choices for coursework at A2. I chose Alfred Hitchcock (the auteur), as his style of filming is useful to study and helped understand how I wanted to shoot my film; Hitchcock’s works-specifically Psycho and Strangers on a Train-also gave me lessons on how to frame shots.
Instead of questionnaires, I am part of a ‘focus group’. A focus group is a relatively small group of people (anywhere from 3-10, usually) who pool ideas together and give feedback to the ‘visionary’ of the group; the visionary is the person who has an idea, the other members are giving advice or their own inputs into the project. My focus group was a small and random selection of people from my Media class. The goal of the focus group is to provide formative feedback on each other’s projects, offer advice and suggestions on how to improve. This is more sophisticated than a questionnaire, and allows questions (and answers) to be more open and less static.
In comparison to my AS level coursework, my A2 research was far more useful, concise, and suited my project far better. My AS research was nowhere near as sophisticated and planned out, which may have negatively impacted my coursework directly as a result. This is something I’ve taken measures to avoid with my A2 coursework, for all the reasons I’ve just listed.
PLANNING: My planning has improved from AS level in multiple ways. Firstly, it was more in-depth this year. At AS level I used a storyboard and a mood board and that was all, effectively. Now, with more experience, I have adapted my planning accordingly.
Like last year, I used a storyboard. This time my storyboard was more focused, with each scene having been planned in my head previously rather than jotted down as I went along. This also made deciding which shots to use much easier, as I already had a good grasp of what each shot would look like in my head, for example, the shot of the three scientists exiting the laboratory in my short film almost perfectly matched how I envisioned it on paper, which made the scene look more professional once it was complete. A storyboard does not need much in the way of ‘technology’ to create, only some paper and pencils, so while it is effective it does not
The first major change is the introduction of the animatic, which is an ‘animated’ storyboard; this allows me to accurately measure the length of each shot and see if anything needs to be shortened or extended. This also works for dialogue, as I can see which lines fit and which ones don’t. This is progression from my Year 12 work, where I went no further than a storyboard. It also allows me to use technology more flexibly and in more ways than just editing purposes, the animatic is an example of this-I made it in Final Cut Express, the same software that I use to edit my footage. An improvement that could be made to my animatic is the voice-over for the dialogue, while tentative it should still accurately reflect how any dialogue should sound.
Instead of a mood board, I drafted a mind map to think of ideas for my short film. I followed my research more closely than at AS level, as I came up with multiple ideas within the horror genre, not just one ‘fits all’ idea, e.g., I drafted a sci-fi horror idea, a supernatural horror idea, etc. In the end I decided on a zombie horror genre short film, as zombies have become more prominent in popular culture in recent years (although their popularity has waned somewhat since 2015/16). Although the mind map is not very technological, I did use technology as a supplement-googling different horror genre types, for example, and also to analyse my research. As well as genre types, other aspects I looked at for my mindmap included: Mood, lighting, effects, colour scheme and sounds-both diegetic and non-diegetic.
As I touched upon in my research evaluation, I used the aid of my focus group. My focus group helped me make decisions on what to keep and what to change, for example there was a scene that I was unsure whether to keep or not, and my focus group helped me come to the conclusion that the scene shouldn’t be included. This focus group would’ve been near impossible without technology; as we all had differing schedules the possibility of us meeting in person to discuss work would have been an incredible hassle. Thanks to technology, this hassle was mitigated entirely as screenshots and videos of work can be sent digitally via social media, which saves a lot of time.
CONSTRUCTION: The construction process at A level was rather similar to the process at AS Level. There were some improvements to my method of editing, however, that positively impacted the way I worked. This is, for the most part, due to my previous experience with the editing process of a short film.
The software I used was the same for both AS and A Level. This software was Final Cut Express, while not the most complex or in-depth of editing it had everything I needed to use. One of the major uses was for the editing of the length of shots; extraneous parts of each shot such as the countdown cue for the actors and the end of the shot needed to be removed, so that only the desired section of the shot was left. Additionally, I could rearrange the order of the shots, which was crucial to my short film as some of the shots were not filmed in chronological order. Without the use of Final Cut I wouldn’t have been able to reposition them to be in the correct order, which would’ve significantly impacted the quality of my short film in a negative way.
Final Cut also allows me to add filters or effects to my shots, e.g., a lens flare or text. The latter is important as it allowed me to create title credits for the actors involved and allowed me to display the name of the short film. I was able to edit more effectively and concisely than at AS level, as I was able to use my previous experience to streamline the process. I also tried using new editing techniques that I did not use before, for example, the ‘overdrive’ filter, which I used to try and create a fire effect. This effect had room for improvement, however, as a ‘flickering’ effect was created on each frame which lessened the effect significantly. I could improve this effect by experimenting more with settings and colour filters.
I used the website freesound.org to find stock sounds that i could superimpose over my footage, to enhance the audience experience. Compared to my AS Level work, I used fewer sounds, due to the different style of the narrative; in my short film there is a lot of narration, and as such, there is less need for diegetic sound except for in one or two scenes, for example, the sound of a stool falling over. This process took much less time than it had done last year as I had now learned how to render the audio correctly without causing errors by using a keyboard command shortcut.
In order to create my ancillary tasks, I used Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Elements CS6. This is because this is software that I am already very familiar with and know the basic workings of, for example, changing the contrast and hue of the subject photo of my film poster in order to make the grass red and the sky white.
EVALUATION: The evaluation process was similar to the construction phase in many ways, though on a more focused and smaller scale. As with the research phase, digital technology was used almost 100% of the time; this is due to my blog being online and the nature of the software used to make correctional changes to my products.
As my short film was made using Final Cut, this was the same software I used to make changes to my work based on the feedback I was given by my focus group. For example, a sound effect of a fist hitting a table needed to be amplified, which was done in Final Cut. Another example would be my film poster ancillary task, which needed some changes to the credit block to make it more readable. I used Photoshop for this; as with the short film Photoshop was my primary tool for creating both of my ancillary tasks (the film poster and the magazine feature). Without technology, these changes would have been impossible, and my products would have been lower quality because of this.
A phone was another piece of technology I used, as I recorded some placeholder voice lines and recorded the voiceover for my evaluation questions with it. Although this as not as orthodox as something such as a microphone, it was the technology that was most readily available to me, and also had other purposes; I could use it to find images, send files to be used on a computer letter through email, and also work on blog posts even when away from a computer. The phone is an example of democratisation; as I would not have been able to do any of these things if it weren’t for advancements in handheld technology (and the lowering costs of some smartphones, particularly older models).

Sports Research Evening Primrose Ingredients and Side Effects
Sports Research Evening Primrose is a plant-based supplement made from soothing herbs and amino acids. Here’s a look at what users can expect in terms of PMS relief, as well as some added benefits:
Evening Primrose Oil: Sourced from the seeds of the evening primrose plant—evening primrose oil is used as a source of essential fatty acids. This ingredient may also be used for a wide range of medicinal purposes such as treating chronic fatigue, diabetes, ADHD, bowel conditions like ulcerative colitis and IBS and more.
Women often use evening primrose oil for treating conditions like PMS, breast pain, endometriosis, hot flashes, night sweats and other symptoms associated with menopause.
The reason it may have an effect on hormone health is, that evening primrose oil contains a substance known as GLA (gamma-linoleic acid), which supports prostaglandin levels.
Prostaglandins have hormone-like qualities and are responsible for a number of tissue-healing functions in the body and may help regulate menopause symptoms.
This oil is also used for cosmetic purposes and can be found in various soaps and lotions. It is thought to help with skin conditions like eczema or allergy-related hives or rash.
Side effects associated with evening primrose oil may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, gas, bloating, constipation, cramping and headache.
Additionally, evening primrose may cause anxiety, depression and an altered immune system function.

Sports Research Evening Primrose Quality of Ingredients
Sports Research Evening Primrose contains only evening primrose oil, a plant-based source of essential fatty acids.
Sports Research Evening Primrose does have some side effects, but there’s not much evidence suggesting an adverse reaction is all that widespread.
The side effects outlined above are just something consumers should keep in mind before they purchase, so that they can be on the lookout for any changes in their bodies.
Sports Research Evening Primrose is a well-known menopause remedy and has been in use for a number of years. Many people swear by the use of evening primrose, claiming it’s an effective tool in treating hormonal issues — breast pain, hot flashes, PMS and more.
This may well work, but there isn’t all that much data on evening primrose — for any of its indications — that definitively proves whether or not it yields consistent health benefits.

While evening primrose oil is almost always associated with its use as a menopausal supplement, Sports Research Evening Primrose Oil is marketed more as a source of healthy fats that also provide some women-specific benefits, rather than an all-out menopause support product.
In looking at the site, it’s clear that Sports Research has a loyal following. They sponsor many body builders and athletes, sharing pictures of their partnerships both on the website and on social media channels.
Based on our look at the website, it’s clear that this product is of a high quality—this company has taken the care in making all relevant information easy for consumers to find, and has shared a considerable amount of information about who they are as a company, and what they are all about.
Customer Opinions of Sports Research Evening Primrose Oil
Sports Research Evening Primrose Oil has primarily positive reviews over a wide pool of previous consumers. On Amazon alone, a wide range of users—over 1300—shared their experience using the oil-based supplements. Here’s a quick look at some of the comments:
“This is amazing! I never give reviews, but this product has really helped me a great deal. My skin looks great, I’m losing weight and I’m sleeping much better, I highly recommend this unexpected gem.”
“I have PMDD and as a result, my emotions can be all over the place during a certain time of the month. Evening primrose has evened me out. No more petty irritations, crying fits, I’m just shrugging it all off.”
“I’ve used other Sports Research product with great results, and thought I’d give this one a whirl. Thankfully, I haven’t experienced any negative side effects, but I haven’t seen any benefits either.”
“Was losing sleep because of my hot flashes and night sweats. I’m still having episodes here and there, but I’m overall pretty happy. Plus, it provides some of the same benefits as fish oil, minus the burps.”
Sports Research Evening Primrose is made from an oil that has long been in use by those seeking natural solutions to menopause symptoms.
For all the reviews we came across, there weren’t too many that mentioned menopause or menopause symptoms. Evening primrose has been associated with a number of benefits spanning all ages—but unfortunately, it means we can’t really get a clear picture as to how well this product performs within the menopausal subset.

Conclusion – Does Sports Research Evening Primrose Work?
Sports Research Evening Primrose, based on our research, may be a good product for consumers looking for an alternative to hormone treatments.
Sports Research seems to make high quality products, focused on improving physical fitness — the company has a solid online presence and many partnerships with social media fitness personalities.
While using evening primrose oil as a menopause treatment isn’t all well researched by the modern, mainstream medical community, it’s hard to argue with the centuries of anecdotal evidence standing behind its use.
That being said, a supplement containing only a single ingredient is unlikely to yield the same benefits as a potent solution that brings together a few different ingredients.
Using this supplement to treat menopause may not come with the major payoff consumers are looking for. It may well work to some extent, all the while providing some key health benefits, but we’re not entirely sure how consistent this product performs.
Our recommendation is to talk to a doctor about the best course of action for menopause care. Evening primrose may be worth exploring, but there are other herbs with a more pronounced effect on the female hormones.
Femmetrinol is our experts’ favorite supplement for combatting menopause symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness and mood swings. With herbs like black cohosh, chasteberry and wild yam provide the bulk of the hormone-balancing benefits—bring fast and potent relief to consumers looking for a dependable solution.
Femmetrinol was made in an effort to bring quality menopause relief to women without the risk of negative side effects. Quality control experts routinely evaluate the product to ensure users get safe and potent care in every bottle. Click here to find out why Femmetrinol is the secret to a more manageable menopause.

The birth of the phone camera combined with apps and digital editing tools have seen an explosion in the number of ‘Photographers’ capturing all aspects of daily life. Discuss the work of 3 photographs who use either DSLR cameras, phone cameras or a combination of both to create their photographic work.
It can be argued that the birth of the phone camera in 2000 first introduced the notion that amateur photographers, could and subsequently would create photographs which contained many professional qualities. However, at the same time it has led to a case or circumstance where it is unquestionably challenging for professional photographers to create unconventional, individual and niche pieces of work.
A photographer that has attained certain skills and knowledge based around the camera and in depth knowledge on how to create specialised images is in fact known as a professional photographer; but with the frequent development of technology it has become so easy for someone with no experience to carry out the same job as a ‘Professional’ photographer, questioning whether we would call them true photographers.
James Nachtwey born in 1948 in Syracuse, New York. Influenced by images of the (Vietnam War and the Civil Rights Movement) is one of the most well-known professional documentary (War) photographers who has an immense amount of photographic historic evidence captured in his project ‘Witness Photography’.
His work caused a stir in the media exposing the real truth when it came to LED counties (what is an LED country) and war. Nachtwey said
“Is it possible to put an end to human behaviour which has existed throughout history by means of photography? The proportions of that notion seem ridiculously out of balance yet that very idea has motivated me.” (1)
His intentions for capturing images was to put a message across and use his photographs as a factor to somehow cause a positive effect or as an alert and to be used to open the eyes of society.
This photograph of the 9/11 attack was one of the most viewed images of that tragic event. It could be argued that the most prominent subject matter in this photograph (although easy to miss) is the fireman in the right corner who seems to be searching for survivors. This image is full of destruction and the isolated fireman in this landscape almost portrays ‘the end of the world’.
Many people used mobile phones to capture and video the event live, but the digital camera prevailed and the photographs turned out very reliable. Professional photographers like Nachtwey captured these types of photographs at the risk of his own life.
“I’m interpreting history in real time, unscripted and unpredictable. So it’s an exploration of the unknown...I have to negotiate a lot of difficult and dangerous terrain.” (3).
In this photograph you can see the intricate details of what became known now as ‘Ground Zero’. A true photographer captures or creates an image to spread a message or for some kind of intention behind it. Nachtwey’s aim was to present images of issues upfront to the public using an innocent eye, without enhancing the photograph to a point where it would be deemed as seeming ‘fake’.
Robin Robertis was born in California Robertis isn’t a particularly famous photographer or even a professional photographer, he just travels the world in order to capture unique and enticing images.
In the photograph below, we the viewer can see a landscape image of a women holding an umbrella in the left of the photograph: ‘I tend to bring a few things when I travel, one being this wonderful red umbrella. When others shoot the sunsets and beautiful scenery, I like to photograph some human aspects in these scenes.” (4). The title of this photograph is ‘She bends with the wind’ with the title being quite self-explanatory in one way. Also it helps the viewer to understand what is visually happening in this image. The woman is holding the umbrella in the direction in which she is going, with the umbrella being her shield and the wind being the forceful metaphor that had the power to make her imitate the actions of the wind.
The woman is the main focal point in this photograph and Robertis has used a lot of negative space to create this dynamic piece. The use of leading lines creates a strong impression of movement, it draws the eye of the viewer and intersects the horizontal line dividing the sky from the ground. The use of chromatic colours helps to portray the mood of this image, the photograph seems to portray a sense of lonliness and isolation, due to the women being the only subject matter in this piece. It can be argued that the use of colour is really important in the success of this photograph as when it comes to the colour red; you tend to think of an alert or warning – this model could almost be symbolic of a red flag.
‘She bends with the wind’ was taken with an IPhone camera as Robertis only captures images using an iPhone. Robertis bought the first generation IPhone which lead her to start using mobile phones to take her photographs. Robertis had no previous experience and she has no traditional photography or art background, she just learnt through experience.
“I was never a photographer, but I just hung out with them.” (5).
It is interesting to consider whether using mobile phone cameras has led to a situation where it is too easy to create professional quality imagery because so many people are now being as creative as professional artists & designers because they have access to smart phones, apps & editing software. One thing that Robertis stated when asked to give advice on upcoming mobile photographers was to
“Connect with iPhoneography groups on Flickr, Instagram and Facebook and share with your fellow artists.” (6).
This statement heavily questions the fact that ‘mobile phone photographers’ might not be as useful and reliant as they may seem. Due to the fact that the only key way for you to ‘make it’ within the industry is by creating a platform for your photographic work using social media.
The rise of ‘mobile phone’ photography has come to a peak and with this forever developing technology, one could argue that it will only continue to improve. Social media ‘frames’ like Instagram and Facebook have made an impact on the development of the amateur photography being the platforms that new amateur photographers often showcase their work through.
Commercial photographer Julian Calverley born in Hertfordshire in 1964. Calverley is a landscape and advertising professional photographer who aside from his pre-paid client work decided to do his own personal projects based on capturing images only through an IPhone, which can viewed in his book: ‘IPHONEONLY’. When the IPhone was first available to the public the main feature of the phone that people were enthused about was the camera.
Calverley is more accustomed to working with clients such as Audi and Aston Martin on large advertising photo shoots, however, he has embraced his iPhone when capturing the type of landscape photographs seen below. One major key advantage to using mobile phone camera is the fact that the IPhone is a small portable device and you don’t need to consider the distance that you need to carry equipment over because it is so small and lightweight.
"It was a new-found freedom really. This thing was always in my pocket -- in the past, everything was thought about. I had to think, 'OK, I'm going to take my camera out, I'm going to take X amount of gear with me.” (7).
I think it's about perception -- you don't need all the gear. You can do it on your phone, or you can go out with just one lens and make beautiful pictures.” (8)
Although Calverley being a professional photographer he still manages to see the benefits of modern day mobile photography and the advantages it does have. (You have not written enough about this
This should be your conclusion question:
Has a cultural shift in the use of mobile phones as cameras led to a situation where it is virtually impossible/very difficult for true photographers to create work that is unique, idiosyncratic and innovative?

5 Things You Need for Omotenashi Marketing
Digital marketing is young. The first clickable banner ad showed up on the net in 1993. Later on, Google, which came on the scene in 1998, as well as MySpace, one of the initial social media sites sites, opened higher electronic marketing chances. If the Web were a human, it would certainly be a teenage. It's impetuous as well as uncertain, as well as we don't actually understand exactly what we have actually jumped on our hands, although we understand it is plentiful with potential. At its best, the Net enables our businesses to communicate with each consumer individually and to change our methods as our clients transform, individualizing the experience for each person.
This standard shift in advertising and marketing techniques is unavoidable. The Net gives our audiences the power since it opens up a sea of offered items. Businesses that have attempted instituting one-on-one advertising to harness that power have actually discovered that, like elevating children, it could be done well, reasonably, or poorly.
To achieve success in partnership advertising, you should gain trust. Depend on drives sales as well as client contentment. And also Omotenashi is the essential to an open, caring connection in between companies and customers. In previous posts, I specified Omotenashi as well as discussed exactly how it functions. Now, I 'd like to stroll you through exactly how Omotenashi can give trust in partnership marketing.
5 Actions to Execute Omotenashi
Most companies typically aren't making use of Omotenashi as their key advertising strategy, but the few that have embraced a few of these principles have urged consumers to trust their brand name, stick to their service, and also come to be devoted consumers. They have actually found out that this strategy produces unparalleled connections, which, from a company perspective, end up being extremely rewarding. Here are 5 actions you can take now to include Omotenashi in your marketing activities.
1. Show a warm sense of humor
Omotenashi could be tough to comprehend. You will certainly not get trust if you only appreciate personal gain. Enable yourself to truly respect your consumers. A straightforward means to begin is to think about, "Just how can I make someone smile in a negative scenario?"
It may be easier if you link this principle with the hospitality market. Hotel New Otani is among the most popular hotel chains in Japan as well as the business's activity concept is based on the FOUR design: smile, sincerity, sanitary, as well as safety. The latter 3 are not tough to envision for a resort. The most hard one, I believe, is "smile" due to the fact that it needs advanced communication skills as well as occasionally a little bit of excellent acting. Because relationship advertising is essential for digital marketing, we as marketing experts need to think about the best ways to bring smiles to our customers.
Here is my favored instance of evoking a smile with Omotenashi marketing.
When the Baltimore Ravens played the San Francisco 49ers in the 2013 Super Bowl, something uncommon occurred-- and it had not been a closet breakdown throughout the halftime program. When a power failure happened during the Super Dish, Oreo Cookies developed an advertisement that revolutionized exactly how marketers engage. The firm utilized the power failure to develop an advertisement that consisted of the ideal amount of excellent humor in an aggravating situation. It lightened the mood as well as strengthened peoples' fondness for the brand name, while setting you back no Super Bowl ad bucks. TELEVISION audiences recognized that Oreo "got" them and was making fun of the unfortunate situation. As opposed to obtaining products, Oreo assumed of the target market's circumstance as well as actually place smiles on their faces with its message.
The firm additionally obtained 20,000 "sort" on Facebook, as well as its Instagram followers enhanced from 2,000 before the Super Bowl to greater than 36,000 after the tweet. Was it blind luck that permitted Oreo to boost its follower base? No, they capitalized on situational timing and also used the idea of Omotenashi.
2. Let sincerity guide you
Customers currently have many more products to select from than ever in the past. People are tired of quick style and food and want to pay a price for worth over discount.
Fast food, as an example, is convenient and could please your immediate demands, however as consumers you can be overwhelmed by the accessibility of products. It is all-natural to want a solution that accommodates you. Blue Bottle Coffee started in San Francisco, serving coffee in an Omotenashi method. Coffee beans are baked within Two Days and also brewed without the standard coffee equipments that lots of various other stores utilize. The coffee's quality, in addition to the method Blue Bottle serves it independently, touches customers' feelings, making them instant followers. The business supplies value over price, building its consumers' trust.
Businesses that infuse sincerity into every customer touchpoint leave a long-term impression on their clients. Gradually, your customers will certainly learn more about you and your company, understanding that you're thinking about their benefits. This goes far over doing something due to the fact that it is merely your task, it prolongs into social communication that is thoughtful and open-hearted.
3. Influence deeply with your sympathy
Sympathy could be a way to fix troubles. Omotenashi represents great customer experience. This implies that also the smallest of issues should be dealt with and also resolved.
Facebook clearly understands this human requirement. The company provides Omotenashi by adding "such as" switches per post, motivating individuals to post content as well as review material posted by others. Facebook has actually effectively gained trust via individuals's aggressive communications. Understanding human demands as well as Omotenashi advertising permit a company be thoughtful to its customers.
You might have had the encounter of trying to comfort your sweetheart when she's disturbed by offering some recommendations, yet rather than feeling much better, she angers at you. Typically people simply require someone to pay attention to them instead of attempt to solve their problems. Providing sympathy is a method to be close to your clients, not too close yet not as well away, so your consumers feel comfortable with you. This eliminates stress as well as develops a deeper relationship.
4. Develop a area for deep engagement
In sales, you need to involve with customers in any variety of means. The touchpoint might be search ads, display, e-mail, or word-of-mouth. Each of these channels offers lots of means to much better involve with consumers, and as online marketers we always optimize advocate this function. As time go on, the services that do well gain good, enduring partnerships. Line, a carrier company in Japan that resembles Exactly what's Up, recognizes exactly what it indicates for customers to remain and also utilize their service.

Back On The Acoustic Horse - Behind The Songs
Leaving behind the Heavy and Distorted sound of Hard Rock and Metal and Focusing on the natural ring of Acoustic Guitars and percussion. Back On The Acoustic Horse was recorded on the premise of using only Acoustic Instruments. It’s Acoustic and it ROCK \m/.
I know you want to know more about the songs, so here you go!
1. Don’t Stop – A few years ago I got a call from a good friend. She was crying on the other end of the line, saying that something bad had happened and needed to talk. I myself was wallowing in my misery, ready to give up on everything (as you do after a bad break-up), so we ended up going to the local pub to drown our sorrows (as you do). After a couple of drinks, she told me her friend was just found dead in the forest, with a bullet hole where his brain should be (that escalated quickly). Ain’t nothing like other people’s misery to give you perspective over your own life. A second ago I was sure my life was ruined because I was turned down by a girl, now I was just thankful I still had brains in my skull! The moral of the story is – You can’t give up just because you’re down. Someone will always have it worse than you do. So stop bitching, and “Don’t Stop”!

2. Here In Your Arms – My long distance relationship love song.. For pirates! (yarrrr) Before I moved to London I took 12 months to “find” myself, and my future in the music industry. This quest that took me around the world meant that most of the time, my girlfriend and I were literally halfway across the planet from one another. And I’d tell you, It wasn’t easy. One evening I took a walk along Brooklyn pier to clear my head when ‘Homer’s Odyssey’ came to mind. This is a story of a soldier making his way back to his loved one after the war, battling strange foes and obstacles across the ocean – and I thought to myself ‘Hey! If Odysseus can do it, so can I!’ plus I always thought I’d make a kick ass pirate!
3. Justice – It’s funny really, I remember sitting in my new studio in London. I just got settled in and I was ready to start my new life! So what’s the 1st thing I do? Facebook :\ I was SO looking forward to bragging about my new start, and SO NOT ready to see her pic at the top of my feed. (Pause for dramatic effect)… It was a picture of HER! The person responsible for so much of the pain in my past, was looking at me.. Smiling! (that b***). She was back to haunt me and I instantly fell for it, crashing into the broiling pits of my unresolved hate! (wow). I knew I was over reacting, but at the same time I got so F*** angry! At her, and then at me for letting it get to me. Voices were running in my head shouting and pulling me into different directions. I was going crazy! And you know what that means? – NEW SONG ! Making sense of this tangled web in mind and resolving my resentment resulted in this song. And now it’s one of my absolute favorites!

4. Rise Above –
A prophecy of doom! And modern day Hypocrisy. If you follow me on social media you know that I am a very strong advocate for animal rights and the environment. Abusing and killing animals (lions, pigs, dolphins, cows, dogs..), deforestation, melting ice caps , and pollution get to me (I’m a sensitive guy). And it pisses me off that the people who act so shocked and appalled on social media, do the exact same things. Absolving themselves from taking action with a click of a “share”button. Hypocrites! (AHHH I’m so angry just writing about it now!). Everybody wants change, but why change when you can Tweet about it? I originally wrote it for the Heavy Metal band Night Screamer, but this song is so close to my heart I just had to include it in this album in its stripped down version. (I also get to sing really high notes!) Another one of my favorite songs in the album.
5. Never Too Late (To Break A Heart) – Witnessing my parent’s break up as an adult in my late 20’s, while I was in a long relationship myself (Sorry ladies) gave me a unique perspective and a chance to reflect both sides of the story. It really sucked for everyone involved. *Spoiler Alert* To get you in the mood I start the track with an actual tape recording of me and my mom from when I was 2 years old.
6. What’s Coming – I was about to do something stupid and violent when I wrote this song. If you ever got hurt, I’m sure you could relate. Betrayed by my closest friends I felt the sharp end of a knife sticking in my back. Consumed by anger, payback was the only thing on my mind. Well, Payback and Johnny Cash. It was thanks to Mr. Cash and his songs that I shifted my anger to writing this song, and turned something negative into a kick ass Acoustic Rock song. (I’m sensing a pattern here). #DontTakeYourGunsToTown #25MinutesToGo
7. I’d Do It All Again – Every now and again I find myself in a reflective mood. I think about my past mistakes and about things that I wish I never had to do. The all time favorite, ‘what if’ game: What if I kept running after the 1st warning shot? What if I didn’t get so angry? What if I never agreed to climb into bed with a her? Would any of that have changed? Would I have a choice? Given a 2nd chance, what would I do? The conclusion I draw is simple, I’d do It All Again.
